"Bún bò Huế, or BBH or bun bo for short, is one of the best dishes here. This comfort food features fiery red oil floating on its surface, with generous portions of sliced beef, pork knuckles, and cubes of pork blood." - Didi Paterno

"Grab the city’s best pho and a smattering of other Vietnamese dishes at this strip mall location. It is best known for its bun bo hue, a noodle soup with beef slices that are spicy and savory. It’s not fancy, but it’s family-owned and affordable." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
I was very impressed by the quality of food and the flavor of everything. The portions are very generous and the service was friendly. I do like they include pictures on their menu, as a lot of times when you go to an authentic restaurant, you often don't know what a certain meal is because of the name.

Matthew Cancio

Google
Oh my goodness. The food is so dang delicious here. Definitely get a BBH. Some of the best BBH I've had. The service is so great. One of the best hole in the walls I've ever been to. Going back soon for sure

Paul Goh

Google
I have heard so many people recommend this Bun Bo Hue place and so I had to come and try it out. The place was clean and the service and decorations was typical of a Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered the extra large size, which was massive! The extra large size was certainly not for the faint hearted as it was a lot, but I managed to finish it, including all the soup. The broth was the savory kind, with no hint of sweetness or pineapple. If you prefer the broth with pineapple, you might not like this broth. They were very generous with their beef and pork slices, which were very tender and flavorful. The pig hock was of a medium firmness and very enjoyable. Overall, this is a very solid Bun Bo Hue and I recommend it.

Linda T

Google
Really good bun bo hue and the pho dac biet is nice too, just a bit heavy on the cardamom side.

May Guo

Google
I got bun bo hue. It was really good. The soup was nice to drink too. It reminds me of spicy chinese soup. I got size small and that was enough for me. If you need more, I suggest getting a medium size (large size is too big). The Vietnamese iced coffee isn't sweet enough for me. Their soybean drink tasted better.

Khanh

Google
The bun bo hue is the BEST i’ve had in DFW. Great amount of spice and tons of flavors! I’m obsessed with the spring rolls and the peanut sauce. I want to return back again and again

Moses Nguyen

Google
My wife and I enjoyed our experience. Staff was friendly and waitress was attentive. Per wife, her pho was very good, it was better than most places. For me, I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, and it lacked flavor. I threw in everything that was available to me, like the condiments, greens, spices, etc, but it still lacked flavor. I was slightly disappointed, but I will give this place another shot since a lot of my friends recommend this place for the Bun Bo Hue.

Chenyang Zhao

Google
Best bun bo hue in town! And reasonable price. they also provide free bottled water, better than most tap water restaurants!

Yelp
I travel quite the distance to eat at this place, And each and every time, it is always worth it. This has to be my favorite BBH ever. Definitely stop by if you're in the area.

Dave W.

Yelp
Haven't been here in a couple years, and for the life of me, I don't know why. Other than my friend's family recipe from Vietnam, this I the best tasting grilled pork (slices) I've ever had. Those alone make this five stars. The spring rolls are made fresh. The wrapper isn't chewy or stretchy, and the ingredients inside are perfect. The peanut sauce is thick and tasty. Wife had the "Family" flavor Phó. That's their signature. It is sooooooo good. Apparently, it really appeals to "Chinese" taste buds. It's a little spicy for me, but the broth is extremely flavorful and it's filled with great ingredients. Need to come back and try the grilled pork chops. I never seem to get past the grilled slice pork.

Yelp
FOOD Pho Combination (Dac Biet) - Pretty alright overall though nothing beats homemade pho. Broth was pretty decent but a little bit on the salty/sweet side but not necessarily by the typical pho spices. Generous portion of meat. Pretty average overall but I may just be pickier since pho at home is best. I would say it's probably good pho for people that typically go out and eat pho. VIBES Very family vibes. The tables are pretty much come in and sit. There were a lot of families and people coming just to simply have pho. Pretty casual overall. SERVICE Service is great! The people are all really nice and food came out really fast.

Tina N.

Yelp
You don't go here for phở, you go here for bún bò Huế!! And the ₫á chanh. I didn't realize I hadn't reviewed them yet, but I've been coming here for years . Bun bo hue tastes like how my grandma used to make, and the aunty there always makes the da chanh fresh. She's always so sweet, and when I dine in, she brings it out and would ask me to taste it and to let her know if I need adjustments. The da chanh is HUGE too, she brings it out in a Togo pho container. I'm so glad this place is so close to me. I think it's starting to hype up a lot more recently, and honestly the deserve the business.

Dennis S.

Yelp
Good food. Friendly staff. Great neighborhood Pho place that we visit regularly. Consistently good.

Temina C.

Yelp
Although the restaurant is small, it gets extremely busy! You can tell this is an authentic veitnamese restaurant right when you walk in. You choose your seat and the server takes your order very promptly. I had the spicy beef noodle soup which was fantastic! They come in two sizes. The medium bowl is HUGE! Unless you want to eat a meal for 4, stick to the smaller bowl size. You won't be able to finish it. The soup broth is fantastic and the fresh veggies that you can add to the soup is amazing. I will definitely be back! Great job!

Tina H.

Yelp
Service is simple, do not expect too much. Was seated right away, order taken within 10 mins, and food came out within 10 mins. We love our fresh veggies, so they gave us another plate for free. Bun Bo Hue: the OG, have to order. Super flavorful, fresh ingredients. I have noticed that there are less meat selection in there than before, but still delicious. (5/5) I do recommend adding in the extra shrimp paste to taste. I love mine with more umami, so I added a lot of those.

Mary V.

Yelp
This is such a great place to go if you want some authentic Bun Bo Hue. They give you extra chili and paste in case you really want to kick up the flavor. I enjoyed the Pho here too. The broth has a great hearty, rich flavor that just cures any sicknesses you have. Warning: If you come right at 12pm or lunchtime on weekdays, it will be EXTREMELY busy. It's a long wait at that time because that's when all the folks come for their pick-me-up.

Lauren R.

Yelp
Came by with some friends and had a good dinner. I had the spring rolls and one of their beef pho. They give you a healthy plate of mixins that made the pho crunchy and delicious. If you like Vietnamese food, they have a bunch of different options that looked delicious.

Cindy N.

Yelp
After careful consideration, I can honestly say that without a doubt PTD is probably the worst bowl of BBH in Dallas. I'm from HTX and my favorite dish is BBH, so finding something in Dallas was something I was craving. My precious review was 4 stars but I was being generous as it probably deserves a 3 at that point in time, as I didn't know any other place that served BBH. Their meat IS tender, but as far as flavor goes, there is none. I'm not sure if it's just because the owners/chefs are from a more northern region of Vietnam, as they tend to like their broth really light.. but that's just not what a good bowl of BBH should be. It should be hearty, beefy, and even a little spicy. I've had it a handful of times and leave extremely disappointed. Pho An (my personal fav), Phuong Nam, Bep Nha are all literally are better options in the DFW area. Save yourself the headache and go there instead!

Tara W.

Yelp
came here to try their bun bo hue and they definitely did not disappoint! the broth was actually spicy and very flavorful. I can tell that they did not hold back on the shrimp paste! I do wish that they would put a bit more lemongrass to balance it but overall, probably one of my favorite bbh you can get from a restaurant!

Missy P.

Yelp
Food was ok. I've had better. The inside of restaurant did not look clean. The floors were dirty and wall had brown splatters on it.

Shelley F.

Yelp
The service was good, but the food was mediocre. The egg roll filling had less meat and a higher ratio of rice noodles inside. Because of that, I wasn't the biggest fan. Spring rolls were pretty solid and the peanut dipping sauce was a hit. Lastly, the pho was just okay. The broth wasn't that flavorful and the meat was a little dry.

Paula C.

Yelp
Came here for the Bun Bo Hue and it was delicious! So full of mead and the softest noodles. The broth was just the perfect amount of sour and spicy and I just loved it.

Tia R.

Yelp
Everything was so good. I was seated immediately and given a complimentary bottle of water and soda due to the upcoming New Year. My food came out within minutes and the egg rolls were made to order. The food was amazing!! Will definitely be going back.

Paul G.

Yelp
The best, the place to go for the BBH (Bun bo hue). Make sure you come by if you haven't been yet. Highlights: - Top notch BBH (proprietary spice inside) - Grilled Chicken with rice (best chicken you can get around) - Vietnamese Coffee (walk away full and wide awake) Busy every day of the week and filled with locals who know what's good!

Lea Z.

Yelp
We had the Filet mignon pho and the Chicken noodle soup pho. Both were delicious not the flavorless water that I find in many Vietnamese restaurants. This one is very authentic. The service isn't much but it's enough, you get your food. The atmosphere is lacking but it's cheap so don't expect better. The only thing I didn't like was the Vietnamese coffee, it was way to strong for me, I prefer the half can of sweetened condensed milk version. The food was great and we will be back.

Gena D.

Yelp
My friend and I came here after leaving Gốc Huế because of their long wait and we were craving bún bò. There are so many reviews raving about it, so we thought we'd give it a try. Maybe we got a bad batch, but the broth tasted like spicy water, no flavor at all. Not to mention, when we walked in, almost every table that wasn't sat was dirty. The owner or manager came out to greet us and then looked around at the dirty tables like he didn't know what to do. His son, who seemed super busy taking care of other customers, cleared off a table for us while he just stood there watching. That annoyed me way more than the bad food, honestly. Leaving two stars for that poor hard-working young man and him only.

Em J.

Yelp
Came here for pho and bun bo hue. Service is always fast and friendly. We are served water bottles, which I prefer. Food is consistently delicious.

Justin Z.

Yelp
Was told to come here for their Bun Bo Hue (the spicy sister of beef pho) and I wasn't disappointed! You know it's best when every table in the restaurant has a bowl of Bun Bo Hue. The soup was hot, rich, and flavorful but not too spicy. I especially love the fresh and thinly sliced purple cabbage, combined with the equally fresh bean sprouts, which added extra texture and elevated the presentation of the dish. Unlikely in some restaurants where some of the basil and the bean sprouts look dry and wilted, the veggies at Pho Tay Do look like they just took a spin cycle after being plucked from the field. Somehow I didn't get any pork blood in my bowl which was kind of disappointing. The pork trotter was smaller than I expected. The large portion size made up for it. The service was extremely fast and the prices were definitely reasonable. Would 100% recommend coming for a taste.

Leo T.

Yelp
As you walk in you can tell this is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. They are know for their bombaways but since I don't like fish sauce...pass. I came to try their Pho. It was OK. Borth had flavor but overall it was just ok. The meatball had a weird taste and the flank steak was nothing special. You can taste the frozen icicles from the defrosting.

Bodin K.

Yelp
I didn't believe the hype for a while, but I finally got around to getting the bun bo hue here and ....yeah its true - probably one of the top if not the best in DFW. I like to sub in egg noodles with mine. They are generous with the meat and it is always tender, flavorful, and perfect. They provide all the necessary toppings/veggies/sauces. Not to sleep on the rest of the menu either. Everything I've had on the menu has been stellar. This place is AMAZING for BBH and also great for every other menu item. So if you come with friends that don't eat bbh, they have other options too. Service is friendly and quick as well! Restaurant is a little small, so big groups may need to split up.

Simone O.

Yelp
Bun Bo Hue: 4/5, the place is known for this soup and it was pretty good. Not as spicy as I would have liked, but there was a small kick. There were a couple pieces of pork blood inside (read a couple reviews that said it had been missing), which were delicious. My bowl was missing the pig foot, so I had to ask and they gave it to me a couple minutes later. Goi Cuon: 4/5, the skin is chewy, there was cha siu and a nice piece of shrimp inside. The sauce was nice and nutty. Pho Dai Biet: 3/5, broth was too salty and the beef tendon may be too gamey if you choose it. Che Ba Mau: 4/5, the dessert was pretty sweet and had lots of jellies, red beans, and mung beans. We came around 12:45 and they were able to accommodate 9 of us. The soups came super fast, but if you need the servers you need to speak up. They also only gave us little baby bottles of water, no tap water. The soups also all came with bean sprouts, mint, limes, and purple cabbage on the side to add as much or little as you want.

May G.

Yelp
I got bun bo hue. It was really good. I liked the meat and the soup was flavorful. There were a lot of noodles too. I was in a group of 5, and they gave us a big plate of veggies (purple cabbage, basil) to add, but it wasn't enough for 5 people. I got Vietnamese iced coffee, but it was too bitter for me.

Laura N.

Yelp
I can't give this place enough praise. They welcomed me before closing and were patient while I reviewed the menu and placed a to go order. They gave me my tea while I waited and gave me a refill before I left. Meanwhile the pace was fast and the menu prices were very reasonable. I was happy they had the option to order a small batch of spring rolls instead of the standard 6-8 pieces so I could have some But the pho itself was fantastic. The noodles had a bit more chew than I was used to and the broth was light and refreshing. The meatballs weren't too chewy and the rare beef slices were thin and super tender. I don't live anywhere close to this place or town but if I did I would be here 2-3 times a week. I'd characterize this as a local place- it's not fancy or pretentious and I could see locals hanging outside while I was ordering my food. Thank you for the great experience - I can't recommend you guys enough.

Thuy N.

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The bun bo hue was authentic and delicious, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Don't miss out on their Vietnamese coffee--it's excellent. Plus, the free parking is a big plus!

Ching B.

Yelp
The best bon bo hue in DFW! Super flavorful and they're not stingy with meat. We will definitely come back again

Lanie N.

Yelp
This place was hoping on a Sunday lunch hour. We walked in and it was packed. While we were eating, the line was out the door. Service was great, the place is not that big. Good menu had a great variety. We ordered bun Bo hue, eggrolls, pho and fried shrimp rolls. The food was not bad. Eggrolls were crispy and flavorful. Fried shrimp rolls were yum. Hubby said pho was not bad and my bun Bo hue was ok. It had all the fixings in it, but I thought it lacked flavor. The people were nice. They serve water when you arrive in the mini water bottles. There was outside seating and customers were occupying that. I would def try it again to see if the bun Bo hue was having an off day.

Alexandra T.

Yelp
Best pho. I bring everyone here. Order for friends when sick, best remedy. They are clean and friendly.

Alyson R.

Yelp
Food was great. But definitely the worst service I've experienced in a restaurant. Not one time did I get checked on. My waiter had a horrible attitude when I asked for the egg rolls that i ordered that he didn't bring me. When I went to pay for my food, it was $19, I gave him a $50 bill, and he hands me back 2 quarters and tried to walk off. I said, "I gave you a $50?" He says "yeah?" I had to ask for my change back. What the hell. I tip nicely for good service. He only got a small tip cause the food was good. Will not return specifically because of that asshole.

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Previewed the reviews before coming, I was a bit put off by some. Luckily I didn't let them get to my head. Went on a Sunday afternoon, the smell of cigars filled the restaurant but that just convinced the food was going to be tasty. I was a little put off by the floor being messy but that's more on customers being messy. It was a Sunday after all. The young man who served was very polite gave us bottle water as we sat down. I looked around saw a school photo of the boy on the wall and knew the food was being cooked by aunties and that this was an authentic family restaurant. I ordered the Bún bò Huế, which was so delicious not oily which was fantastic. The meat was tasty and fresh. The broth was so flavorful and filling. The plate with fresh purple cabbage and bean sprouts was generously sized. Egg rolls were delicious and made at the restaurant. I couldn't finish them because I wanted to focus on the BBH! If you've never tried it before it's a spicy beef broth soup, it takes a while to make Once we finished, the lady who gave us our dishes, gave us another water on way out which was such a kind gesture for this hot weather. Highly recommend this lovely place.

Ryan N.

Yelp
I was in the area and googled the nearest pho restaurant and this place popped up...so I gave it a try. I ordered the beef/tendon/tripe pho combo and it was delicious! The broth was rich and flavorful. I left the place very happy! And then I read the reviews and I guess the spicy beef noodle soup (BBH) is the soup to order here! Now I'm going to have come back and try that out because I love me a good BBH! Come eat here! It's located in a shopping mall, so parking is easy to find. And the people there were super friendly! I spoke to the owner and I guess they have been there for years now! I can't wait to go back!

Hai V.

Yelp
Excellent bun Bo hue, best in town! I love the drive even though I'm 1.5 hrs out. It so worth it, authentic Vietnamese soup dish if you like pig feet hammock, ham, pig belly all in one bowl spicy and hot ...

destini W.

Yelp
the food is so good, the service is great, the vibe is very chill. i will really recommend the pho and the pork and rice

More M.

Yelp
The Bun Bo Hue was amazing the broth was spicy. The bean sprouts and basil were fresh, the only thing missing was the blood curd. But overall it was super good I can't wait to go back. The service was quick if you go before 12 you will find a table available.

Monalisa Z.

Yelp
Bun Bo hue was lukewarm .. 4/5 it was good, lots of tender meat, but I feel the lemongrass wasn't bold enough. Grilled pork broken rice .. 5/5 The meat was charred nicely but not burnt. It was seasoned well and thin not chunky. Spring rolls 5/5 freshly made Pho - 3/5 It was too sweet for my taste. They could improve on service. Give your customers more smile please

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
This place was awesome! We heard about it from Mike Chen's YouTube channel and had to give it a try. When you walk in you just seat yourself. The waitress was very fast despite the dining area being pretty full! She got us water bottles and took our order within a few minutes. The food came out QUICK. And it was delicious! We came for the BBH and it did not disappoint! :) the spring rolls were also pretty good. I added a bit of sriracha to spice it up. When we ate the BBH it's like it kept getting better and better. I love it when I find a place where the food makes me feel good. I ordered a small bowl and it was a perfect size for me. There was plenty of meat. I like to dip mine in fish sauce, which there's a bottle on the table. It's rare for me to lift up the bowl to my face and finish the soup. That's how I knew it was good. Overall I'm super satisfied and it was worth our hour drive. Thank you for a great experience.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Visited from LA to try their Bun Bo Hue and I was not disappointed. The ambiance was like any typical mom and pop Asian shops so I felt right at home. Service was quick and friendly so what's not to like :) Shout out to my friends in Dallas for showing me around :)

Allen T.

Yelp
I think the last time I was here was 2 years ago. I remember telling myself their BBH was just okay and I confirmed that again today. This place has high ratings on their BBH but the flavor was just lacking to me, I would go as far as I feel it was water down. I ordered the large and it came with everything you would expect, fresh veggies, pig foot, beef, but only missing the blood. A bit disappointing. But over the portion was good, price is right. I guess that's why there are still lots of fans out there. The service was very fast too.

Anthony T.

Yelp

Patty W.

Yelp
This is the best BBH i've had in Dallas. It's both a blessing and a curse that I don't live closer!! i found this place during quarantine after almost EVERYONE i knew recommended them. They were one of the few offering take out during quarantine and thankfully so. i've only ever tried their BBH since i don't go out that way often. but i want to try their pho and vermicelli bowls. BBH is bomb though. the soup is flavorful and spicy, the meats are super tender, and the portions are generous! i've only gotten orders to go, but i swear the bag is so packed full with yumminess, it weighs a good 5 lbs when i go pick up. typing this review is making me hungry. may have to go place an order now :P

Kuro Y.

Yelp
It's ok. I don't live in Dallas so I guess you have to adjust your expectations and for great vietnamese food. So all the meats in our dishes were overcooked. We had pho, hu tieu, and bun bo hue. The place was packed for lunch though so I guess people like it.

Tram-Anh P.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to Pho Tay Do for Bun Bo Hue (BBH) for more than a decade. Their BBH is the bomb and their Com Thit Nuong too. Service is always excellent and so we always come back for more.

Lisa B.

Yelp
The bun Bo hue is good here. Can't speak for any of the other food or the dine in experience since my family will usually order for pick up any time we are in the area. I placed an order around 3pm and they quoted me a 20 min wait. When I got there, they were behind and I had to wait another 30 mins. The place was packed at a non popular eating hour

Deja V.

Yelp
Comes here a few times for their supposedly raved bun bo hue . It was a bit disappointing that the broth doesn't have enough lemon grass and doesn't congealed pig blood . Plus their Vietnamese ham aren't that great . I've had better bun bo hue in Houston. But this place doesn't give me that exquisite desire to come back again every time I tried it .

Linda R.

Yelp
On our way to our usually pho place, Hubby and I saw Pho Tay Do and decided to digress her. The best part of this small family run restaurant is the food. The pho ga (chicken pho) has the clearest flavorful broth we have had. The grilled pork on my bun (vermicelli) was charred and flavored perfectly. The prices are very reasonable for the food. Unfortunately, a deduction of one star was for the lack of customer service. Almost all of the empty tables were not cleaned and still full of dishes. We were never greeted, and sat down for some time before acknowledged. If you come here, get past the lack of service and enjoy the food.

L M.

Yelp
Best Bun Bo Hue. Great service and our go to Vietnamese restaurant in the Dallas area.

Janel L.

Yelp
Missing the comforts of home, I was in search of bun bo hue, my favorite noodle soup dish in Vietnam. Luckily, I came across this spot which is only a few minutes from where I work and the reviews sounded great and the food looked even better. When I took my first bite, the broth was both refreshing and filling. The broth is aromatic, sour, and perfectly hot. The noodles are abundant along with a generous portion of meat. Always garnished with a fatty pig's foot and my own blend of bean sprouts, cabbage, and a squirt of lime on top. At the end of the meal, I always feel full with a tingly feeling on my lips from the spices. I always ask for a side of chili paste and mam ruoc to enhance the seafood tanginess of the broth. Each time I come here, it's been perfect and well worth the drive. I wash everything down with a strong cafe sua da to go. There's never a wait and the service is fast. Definitely my new go-to spot.

Miku S.

Yelp
Pho Tay Do is a little bit of a trek for me but I will gladly make it for their bun Bo hue! It's been my go to for years and never disappoints. Quick, delicious, and great service.
