A range of traditional Vietnamese dishes served in a bright, minimalist sit-down cafe setting.
"This nearly 20-year-old staple is one of the biggest Vietnamese restaurants in Uptown—it has a large back area with a stage that often hosts family reunions, and was once used for nighttime rap shows. But even if you didn’t get a party invite, it’s still worth stopping by Phở Viet for their food. The rice and tapioca flour bánh bèo topped with shrimp is a must-order starter, and the broken rice plates or crispy noodles with meat and seafood are always reliable. And while Phở Viet's namesake soup is solid, our favorite brothy bowl is the bún riêu. It’s full of crab meat, pork, fried tofu, and tomatoes that add brightness. photo credit: Jack X. "There’s no wrong way to order at Pho Viet, but no matter what you get at this casual spot on North Broadway, make sure to start with the bánh bèo chén. These toothy, almost al dente steamed rice cakes are topped with green onion, a delicate sprinkle of shrimp, and a crunch of crispy pork skin. Add a spoon of sweet and savory nước mắm for a perfect bite." - adrian kane, courtney sprewer, veda kilaru, john ringor
"What To Order: Bánh Bèo Chén Served in a concentric pattern of small, round, ceramic dishes, bánh bèo chén was originally intended to look like a floating aquatic water fern. A toothy, almost al dente steamed rice cake is the base, topped with green onion, a delicate sprinkle of shrimp, and a crunch of crispy pork skin. I like to add a spoonful of sweet and savory nước mắm for a perfect bite." - celebrate argyle, hac tran
"Heartwarming noodle soup is, predictably, the attraction at Phở Việt. The aromatic phở broth is simmered for 14 hours before meeting the bowl with rice noodles, meatballs, slices of beef, and the requisite add-ons. There’s a lot to try as the extensive menu also has sandwiches, congees, rice plates, stir-fried noodles, various meat and seafood entrees, and more. But no matter the choice, it’s sure to satisfy. Online orders can be placed here." - Eater Staff
