The 10 Best Sports Bars In Houston

"Any soccer hooligan or general enjoyer of beer will feel at home at Phoenix in Montrose. The British-leaning pub caters to soccer—sorry, football—fans, and people who want a dark pub to drink in. Alongside burgers and plates of fish and chips, Phoenix also serves a surprisingly long list of vegan and vegetarian food. And even though the food isn’t anything to rave about, being able to swing in for an international game of footie makes Phoenix a solid sports spot." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

From classic bar bites like burgers and tacos to plant-based options and even a pet menu, the options here are plentiful no matter what your mood or dietary preference is. Where to Watch the World Cup in Houston | Eater Houston

"How do you show commitment to the World Cup? By opening REALLY early, even for the 5 a.m. kickoffs. The Phoenix will be opening 30 mins before each game, which means a 4:30 a.m. call time this Saturday morning. Now the question is whether to go to bed early on Friday night, or follow 2 a.m. last call with a wee-hours nap before heading to the bar again." - Alaena Hostetter

Google
Loved the chicken curry at this sports bar. If you like your football with booze and fans, you'll appreciate this place. It has an above average menu of bar food favorites. Loud and claustaphonic on weekends, a much quieter lunch spot during the week.

Akmal Mikhail

Google
Great place to watch soccer. Multiple large screen TV’s. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Best of all is the electric atmosphere during big international games. You will love it.

M Rodriguez

Google
Dancing beef was delicious. The service and atmosphere was awesome. Will be back to try other menu dishes. Definitely worth the drive to visit this pub.

K Money

Google
The BEST pub in Houston to go to. Especially for food. If you care about what you eat while you drink. This is the place to go! The owner Vu, is very attentive and pays attention to details in every aspect. He truly cares about his customers AND employees. Top notch service.

Sepehr Bastami

Google
Everything was fantastic. What an atmosphere. I wish they could expand a bit somehow. Small space. Only feedback is, on special match days, I would be careful to respect the maximum occupancy allowed by fire code as it could be super risky if anything goes wrong and people are jam packed inside. Great otherwise!

Vinod Nampimadam

Google
The burger for $8 was phenomenal. The thick patty was cooked to perfection. Asked for medium and it was the perfect temperature. Well seasoned and delicious. The size was nice. Finished half of it. Fries were also fried to crispy goodness. Friendly fast service. Will definitely return.

Maithil Lakhia

Google
This is a great place for sports fans to watch a game, have drinks and eat above average food. We were there on a weekday but I am sure it gets pretty loud during the weekend. We went there mainly for fish and chips as I haven't had an authentic one in a very long time. We were NOT disappointed. A true ale battered flake Pollock that was absolutely delicious. We were intrigued by curry sauce on the menu so had that on the side. I will dip my fries in that over ketchup any day. Their menu has many unique items and a huge section just for vegetarians. Portions are large enough to share. Service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Alexis Leon

Google
The best PUB to watch Manchester City. The food, beer, and service were amazing. It was so easy to order on the QR code. I will be back!

Yelp
Food is so good, the karage chicken was absolutely amazing!!! Nice and juicy and crispy paired with spicy mayo oooooo highly recommend and will be getting this again! The sausage rolls are also so yummy - tastes good with spicy mayo as well. My second time trying those :) The service was quick - our waitress didn't really seem that happy or maybe that's just her personality - she didn't do anything wrong, just didn't seem happy ;/ Ambiance is nice and chill!

Yelp
Great service and really great food. Comfortable place for the whole family. The fried catfish is to die for

Yelp
Review just for the food: I must say, this pub is truly a fish and chip heaven! The batter is so good, I wanted to use it as a pillow. The chicken karage was finger-licking good too. And the best part? The heavy food would be perfect for drinking. The service was excellent too, our server kept checking up on us to make sure we were alright. Overall, highly recommend this pub!

Yelp
It was around 11pm and me and my friend were looking for a dog friendly restaurant that was open late and we were very lucky to find this spot. It's very hard to find a late night dog friendly spot! They have a little patio out back with just one big table and we had the whole patio to ourselves. You'll have to walk into the restaurant to get their attention and let them know you're outside though. Fried cauliflower was crispy with a nice thin batter. Pulled pork tacos were alright, but they were a little on the saltier side. My friend got the blackened fish and she said it was a little salty as well. We had the best servers when we went that night (2/22/23). Our dogs got treated like queens, which made me very happy. One of the guys came out probably around 3 times to give our dogs treats that they really liked and water. We also ordered off the doggy menu and got grilled hamburger patties for them. Phenomenal service. They probably checked up on us around 5-6 times that night.

Yelp
I was in a mood for a salad late in the evening and I was surprised at how good the House Garden salad was. If the dressing in not home made, it is certainly delicious. They also introduced me to Tupps Evil Dankster American IPA, which is as good a pint as you will find in this country.

Yelp
Great food and service a must go to. Large selection of brews and wrap around screens for any sporting event. Regularly holds charity events promoting many charities.

Yelp
I really love this place. It is one of my regular places that I come to very often. I wish that I knew the name of my waiter, but she's a little short woman but I love her so much! She is my fave waiter. I have nothing to worry about, I don't have to ask twice, I don't have to check in, She's super attentive and personally I want her before anyone else. Aside from that though, the place is amazing. There's been a few times where we come in and we suggest a certain game. They usually have no problem turning the game on. it's just overall cool. I usually go at night but they do have a menu for pets that are available so it is a pet friendly establishment. The ambience of the facility it's super cool. It's a low light so it's not too bright at all especially at night when I go. if you are looking for a sportsbar home especially for sports outings or sporting events I would definitely suggest this place.
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
Good place to watch soccer games. The ordering system is great as you can order your drinks and food by scanning a barcode on the table so you don't have to wait for a server to take your order. The food quality is good but overpriced as expected from a sports bar. The parking lot can fill up quick but there is street parking nearby.
google avatar

Kris C.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic. We love the fish and chips. Huge portion for a great price. Their wings are also very good. We love coming and sharing a comfy booth. But seriously, best fish and chips we've had that was not in England. PS- bring back the spinach dip
google avatar

Apple A.

Yelp
The menu here is SO underrated. Everything is good but the piccata is my favorite so much flavor and generous portions with fresh ingredients. The vibe is always nice inside and the food travels well so we often order it for take out on a weekend.
google avatar

Germanie J.

Yelp
Food: Pretty good for bar food! We didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised! On the first visit we had grilled cheese sticks, chicken piccata and bacon Mac. The second time we had a chicken wrap and bacon Mac. All were pretty good! Service: It was decent, a bit slow at certain times but nothing absurd. Ambiance: Chill, divey bar atmosphere. Will return!

Yelp
Great place for literally anyone . You can come after work for drinks and bites or do dinner with the family. It's got a very homey vibe and good food . The steak special is also good value. Service is attentive and friendly. We were not left wanting for anything . Don't forget to get dessert.

Yelp
Had a great time, watching the Astros game here today! Ate some delicious food and had really good cocktails! The service was good too! We sat outside and it was really nice. Inside looked fun! This may just become a regular place this fall!

Yelp
It was a Sunday afternoon in the City of Houston. Missy and I were cruising down Westheimer Road hunting the 49ers@LA Rams game. We hit the brakes for the Phoenix rising in-front of us. Not only was this joint right down the road from our Air BnB, but they were having a parking lot party! A fried rice cook off challenge! The food challenge was popping and lots of good times were being had. Missy and I rolled into this pub and found a nice booth. I was impressed with the interior pub feel and energy. Evan our server swung by the table and took our order for three appetizer picks. The appetizer spread was served and damn. I thought all of them were extremely tasty! My favorite however was the Chicken Kaarage with spicy mayo sauce!!! Irish Nachos and waffle fries were also great, and the chicken tenders are just a staple to have on the table. Evan our server was a hard worker checking in on us and refilling us when needed. The Phoenix Pub Grub was amazing tasty. They even have Brunch and a menu for your dogs! The Phoenix is a great English style pub for food and drink when on Westheimer.

Yelp
Came here to watch the Super Bowl and had a great time! The atmosphere of the bar is very cozy and welcoming. They offer a wide drink selection; there's bound to be something you would love whether you're into beer, wine, cocktails, or shots. The food was also really impressive! It was good quality classic bar food: fried, snacky, and flavorful. The highlight was definitely the bread pudding--highly recommend if you're looking for something sweet!
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
I was there to watch a World Cup game. They have heaters and a TV outside. I ordered cauliflower tacos. They lacked cauliflower but were bursting with onions. They're really not too flavorful. The green sauce they're served with is over the top spicy. Despite the crowds, the bathrooms were clean.
google avatar

Debra O.

Yelp
I highly recommend the burger. There are two but get the one with the bacon jam. Truly delicious. Meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service is good and they have a app that you can order and pay through so service is even faster. There are several other dishes I like. Dancing beef quesadillas also delish.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
Came back here again and the food was outstanding. Hands down the best fish and chips I have had in Houston! ! Staff is always so friendly and attentive and they have every game on you can imagine. It's definitely a casual spot but worth a visit!

Max P.

Yelp
Started coming her recently with one of my buddies for the euros. This is a fantastic pub for soccer games. I love the QR codes on the table to order drinks so you don't have to miss any of the action going back and forth from the bar. The food is solid as well so it would be a good place to hangout even with no games on.

Mona T.

Yelp
Absolutely the best food with the best price. This is a hidden gem. Servers are amazing. You must try
google avatar

Fox E.

Yelp
If their fare was free, then it would be the Fee-Nixed, because all fees would be nixed. But it's not. Any public house (that's a pub by the way) English food is going to be up for heavy criticism if it's not top notch, and intense scrutiny from me because I grew up on this stuff, and lately, especially outside the UK, nobody really knows how to make it. Having said that I would also give them 4 stars for the fact that they show Premier League soccer games, which is awesome, and that they generally do a really good job as a local pub. And while I'm not fond of too many Texas bars, this is one that I would definitely use in future.
google avatar

Leighanne C.

Yelp
Been coming to the Phoenix for over 4 years now. HUGE fan of many things: The awesome staff, the beer and wine selection, the menu mostly made from scratch, but today I discovered they have finally added guacamole toast to their brunch menu and it is perfection! Pro tip: add bacon!
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
Came on a weekday evening, it was a slow night. Bartender was attentive. Beer selection wasn't huge but the craft beer selection they had on draft was good. Pretzel app was good - I'm not certain but it seemed like it was topped with garlic salt instead of the typical coarse pretzel salt. The hot chicken sandwich was excellent - fresh bun, fresh veggies, chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good. The fresh cut fries were also very good. I'm not going to hold this against them but the menu seemed a bit confusing - it seemed like they didn't really have a consistent theme throughout. But honestly who cares if they can execute it all well? I'll return to try more of the menu.

Paul A.

Yelp
Always had the big soccer games on, and the staff is always on point. Has a great atmosphere
google avatar

Tess A.

Yelp
Good crawfish. Good service. I don't have much more to say but I can't post a short review

Nomadic T.

Yelp
First impressions are huge for an old bar dog like me. Saw this place and said, let's see what's up. As a sports bar, not good. TVs are positioned poorly. But, that wasn't my biggest issue. Walked in on a lazy Sunday night. Not busy at all. Bar area in front of me was filthy. Nobody made an attempt to clean it. Ordered beer and the bartender sat the beer on top of a French fry in front of me. Definitely not getting food or staying beyond this beer. After paying, just slid the receipt with no thank you or anything. Just a bad vibe honestly. Most of the reviews seem good but not a place for me. Dirty bar with no greeting or thank you. I'll pass. Too many other options in the area.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Packed for world cup! I've been in for sports a few times since and not so crowded, but I was most impressed with their ordering system. Qr code on each table so you can order from your phone. Drinks in less than a minute and food came out in less than 10 minutes when it was packed.
google avatar

Eddie W.

Yelp
This is not only a great watering hole to catch a great soccer or football game with a great diverse group of people but has some of the best food a pub has to offer. Ask for Ari, she's great! The beer and liquor selection is some of the best in the city for the price point. I would for sure check this spot out when in the area!
google avatar

Shannon A.

Yelp
Chill and cozy atmosphere, with great food! Love the plant based section. Def a good place for groups!
google avatar

Jose F.

Yelp
Best Irish Pub in Houston, all sports available, and great atmosphere, must visit! Great food as well
google avatar

Willy N.

Yelp
I picked up some take out from the Phoenix the other day due to the Coronavirus! I tried the fish and chips on this visit, and it was fantastic. The fish fillets literally filled up the whole box. They were enormous. Perfectly fried on the outside and soft on the inside. It came with the most delicious tartar sauce. It also came with heaping amounts of fries. I couldn't walk straight after eating everything. I highly recommend this spot! Food is great and the server was really friendly and welcoming.
google avatar

Manuel O.

Yelp
Great pub with excellent selection of beers and totally vegan friendly. Try the Vegan Street Tacos! Great place to catch a beer and really great food. Nice outside venue and like respect their policy on masks. The vegan options are great and the burgers are awesome! I would definitely come back on fridays!
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
Saturday mornings they show al of the Premiere League soccer. On Sundays they have Sunday ticket so they have out of market NFL games. The food is very good for bar food. Service is great. They have an app you can use to order. Prices are reasonable but not Diver bar cheap. $5-7 Bucks a drink usually depending on what your getting. I really like it. Good place to watch soccer or football. Also it is the Penn State bar, so your milage may very on Saturday afternoons.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
I love coming to this place. Great bbq meals and drinks are great. Parking is always good. Outside patio is dog friendly and so are cigarette smokers.
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
Good enough. Average food. Good environment for soccer. Good bar. I got vegan wrap. Wrong choice. Other stuff may be better.
google avatar

Faith M.

Yelp
Nice Establishment nicely light friendly people, my first request was a double shot liquor was very strong.. my burger came in 10mins hot and accurate to order placed..

Yelp
LOVE THIS BAR! I used to come here many years ago when it had the older name. I went here on Sunday morning to watch the FIFA game. Can I say this is one of the smartest bars? Lol. They've got a unique way to serve. You scan the code on the table, order whatever you want from the app (food, drinks, shots) etc and then they have servers just bringing them out to your table. Instead of having to wait on your server to order, you do it yourself. You can put in the notes if you want something modified. I'm overly impressed by this and wish more bars would catch on. It was the easiest experience and the bar was PACKED. So many people were there and everyone was extremely friendly! It's kind of small on the inside, but it gives you a true European bar vibe.
google avatar

Annelise M.

Yelp
Best things about this restaurant: super chill, relaxed, great service and management, great weekly specials, great place to watch soccer, great place to watch Astros (this is where we watched the Astros win the World Series!!!) and an amazing burger! I love the vibe of this place most of all. It's super chill and relaxed. It does get busy during soccer games and other major sports games, but if you get here a little early, you can find a seat. It can also be fun to stand though, especially during a big game! Their food and food specials are awesome. I love the 50 cent wing night, and the fried chicken night! Their cheeseburger is one of my favorites in Houston! They will cook it to order and has lots of pickles and is tender juicy and an excellent price. They also do trivia one night of the week... I think it's Wednesday or Tuesday. But if that interests you, I would double check via their page. I really can't find anything about this place that I don't like! Lots of regulars and many of the waitresses have been working there a long time. Only thing I can figure is that means it must be a pretty good place to work! Always a good time when we come here.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
This place is sort of hidden on Westheimer right across from the Cane's. Plenty of parking, but it is liable to get busy on some nights. There's a pool table, patio outside and a bar with plenty of seats. Ask the bartender about their daily specials they have; you'll love them. I tried something simple to eat: the Phoenix wings with butter garlic sauce. The wings tasted pretty good, and the ranch provides that extra goodness to the meal. It also comes with celery and carrots, which will help you cool down if you get a kicky flavor. They were cooked just right and I'd come back and have them. They also have vegetarian choices, burgers and other good food. The drink special I had on a Wednesday was the Stella Artois for about $4 on draft. This beer is sort of like a Coors light with extra flavor. The draft bottles look sort of like goblets from movies, which I like. I also tried an IPA called Ghost in the Machine, which I didn't care for but glad I tried it. So ask the bartender about their daily drink specials and poke around. Great place to watch a game, hang out and play pool, or to have a great burger or wings. Be careful on Westheimer as the street isn't really wide, but go have a nice meal and drink!
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
The fish and chips were sooo good. Definitely will be back to try again. Went on a Friday for the special.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
It's a bar, with a fun atmosphere. We stopped for a quick drink , then ordered the sausage appetizer. GET IT!!! It was fantastic! The popcorn chicken was ok and the service wasn't the best, but we are not sure if the service was affected by the #houstonfreeze. We would return if ever in The area.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
This place was a pleasant surprise. Usual spot was having technical difficulties showing a game, so we rushed over to The Phoenix on Westheimer. They already had the game on, they turned the game on additional TVs , and they got us audio in our corner. Extremely pleasant, accommodating, and friendly. Hats off to the manager who worked Easter Sunday morning. Had a few beers. Good selection. The nachos were nothing to write home about. Very average. The manager made the experience. Cheers to you pal. We'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Kyle F.

Yelp
To cool for the club? Well you're not to cool for a pub scrub. Want deals on meals? They got a different one each day of the week. Been going here for like 7 years and this has many great memories, both ones I can remember and can't remember. Staff is really nice and they sell alcohol (the devil's water). They have a solid selection on food and drinks. Also you looking to party? Come here during the World Cup, shiz get wildin'.
google avatar

Tobin T.

Yelp
I love the place. The staff here is super friendly and the food here has always been great and delish!! I wish more people know about this place and how really great it is!! They have a daily food special that can't be best in my opinion...they are good and quite cheap! the wings here the best I've eaten. And btw, you have to try the dancing beef...their version of Vietnamese Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef)!

Kian S.

Yelp
My friends and I came here to watch a world cup game. I ate canes across the street and brought my drink and leftovers over to join my friends as the game kicked off. Upon entering, the manager yelled at me calling me disrespectful for bringing outside food into the restaurant. I clarified that they were leftovers and that my 5 friends were all ordering from the restaurant and that I was probably going to get a drink as well. About 30 minutes into the game I took out my leftover sweet tea and began drinking it. The manager immediately came to our table and began berating me for eating outside food. Bear in mind there were 5 paying customers at the table. This largely ruined the atmosphere for my friends and I who were just trying to enjoy the game. Very rude and unwelcoming manager.

Timothy I.

Yelp
Lame bar, very sub par service, and boring vibe. This bar is typically empty and it's obvious why. Bar staff just wants to hang out with themselves rather than serve patrons.
google avatar

Reid H.

Yelp
Chicken Fried Chicken was excellent. Hand battered crispy and delicious. Seemed as if it was there own recipe. Mashed potatoes and broccoli was also great. I would come back for this
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
Nice sports pub with tons of TVs. We asked if they'd put on a ACC network televised college football game and they were very agreeable. Menu was very good. And the wait staff was cheery and responsive. Nice to see a dining place with good amount of staff. Will return soon!
