This place is hidden, I’ve lived in the neighborhood for about 3 years and just found and tried this place. After reading the reviews and seeing most low ones are due to delivery speed, this didn’t affect me being around the block. So I ordered the sesame chicken and spring rolls and food was done quick and tasted fresh. Spring roll inside was a little mushy but the outside was delicious and crispy and it wasn’t a game ended. I will most likely be having this more often and suggest maybe ordering pick up instead as the food was done quick and was tasty and portions were very generous

Google
From Houston here, for an Asian, this place is really cozy, love the vibe and the background music they’re playing, very soft jazzy. And the food here is so good. We have Shrimp Chop Suey and Pepper Steak. I usually don’t like oily food but the egg roll here they made it perfectly. I finished them all. Highly recommend this place!

Google
We Absolutely love it here the food is amazing we had Shrimp LoMein and General Tso's chicken and a side of Avocado rolls this is 100% AMAZING and the prices are amazing!!!!

Google
Do not order. 4 hours to deliver. Driver didn’t call me when food arrived, they accidentally gave it to the wrong person, whom was waiting 3.5 hours for THEIR food. As shown in picture is Gen Tso Chicken, and Shrimp Lo Mein. The other 4 meals in the order were the same quality.

Google
No flavor at all, blandest Chinese food I've have had in my life. Service was quick but of course the place empty literally my wife and I plus the cashier at dinnertime for pickup. Not even music or talking just dead silence in a huge empty nasty restaurant

When you arrive to Phoenix Palace, you walk up to an abundance of weeds and disorder and dirt. The building looks like it’s been abandoned for years. Then you walk in and the floor is so dirty that your shoes stick to it. The tables are semi-clean but the service was the worst! We accidentally spilled a glass of water on the table. After asking for a rag to clean the water before it dripped all over us, the server proceeded to serve other customers, several other customers. When I asked again and asked her if I could grab some of the napkins in their filthy back room, she yelled at me. This place needs to be inspected. I’m relatively certain if an honest inspection was done, they would be cited and hopefully closed. The food was awful. I love to support local businesses but this one should be embarrassed to call themselves a restaurant.

Google
Ordered online for lunch and some dinner portions which is a nice option at Noon time. Combo lo mein , lemon chicken, general Tso’s chicken, Szechuan pork, portions were nice and hefty with plenty available for leftovers later on. Everything was hot and ready even the side hot and sour soups were at perfect temp. The lady at front which I believe is the owner is welcoming and very nice and attentive. Overall a fantastic experience thru take out with a crew with a sense of urgency and customer service knocked it out the park for me which is hard to come by nowadays.

Google
Went in yesterday for some late lunch, was immediately greeted. I was sat with some crispy noodles with a sweet sauce which were delicious! I ordered the Chicken in Three Styles and absolutely enjoyed everything about it. Will definitely stop by again to try their vietnamese menu.

Yelp
A quaint little spot in El Paso serving up cheap yet delicious Asian cuisine. You can definitely tell that this is a mom and pop shop, family ran. Quick service as "pops" took my order, cooked my order, and served my order . Definitely a spot to try out!
google avatar

Yelp
Sweet Mother of Pearl their Beef Broccoli and Large Wonton Soup with Shrimp is absolutely delicious. This for $7.50 plus tax what a steal! James the owner is always on the phone running is take out business. This is definitely a road less traveled as the restaurant is in the middle of a poor and run- down neighborhood! But James is kind and provides great value. The ambiance is low key and welcoming!

Yelp
Excellent food! Amazing actually. Generous portions. Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked and delicious! Not to mention, very reasonable prices. My favorite Chinese food in the area.

Yelp
This place is always super quiet and every time I come they always bring out the food fast and they always have a warm welcome

Yelp
Ive eaten food both inside the restaurant and also ordered on uber eats app many times. If you eat inside, its never crowded but they are always busy making to go orders . Its a cozy feel, they usually have the large screen tv set to karate movies like Bruce Lee etc. The owner and his wife are very kind and friendly. Now to the food. It is fresh, delicious and the portions are large. The price is very reasonable and they have so many menu options. My favorite is the broad rice noodles with beef and i really love their fried shrimp too. Ive tried many things on the menu. The flavors and spices they use make the food tasty and its always hot and fresh and good quality. The owner is humble makes the customers feel appreciated and I appreciate that, i definitely recommend this restaurant if you are craving Chinese food.

Yelp
Brother, if you are a soldier on Camp McGregor, do NOT order from this place. We placed our order at 6pm, they said 2 hours for delivery. Okay, thats fine, we'll wait. 2 hours pass, we call, they say one more hour. Okay, benefit of the doubt. An hour passes, it's 9pm at that point. We called AGAIN. They say 35 minutes, "we're leaving now". No, they wait until closing to finally deliver your food, and even THEN, it took ANOTHER hour to get the food. 10:30, thats when we got our food. And you might ask yourself, was the food worth the wait at least? No. Order from somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
I know by the looks of this place, you don't want to order from here! But, I ordered from a delivery service and it was good! Yes, it took forever to get my order, but I got this Peking duck! I was impressed by the taste and the amount they gave me. I ordered duck before from another place in town and it tasted microwaved. This was not the case, it reminded me of the duck I ordered from my favorite restaurant in Austin. Only complaint was the spring egg rolls, too greasy and not enough filling or cabbage. The Fried Rice and General Tsaos Chicken were great and they use new packaging, no more styrofoam! I'll be back!

Mackenzie P.

Yelp
3.5 stars is about right. Food was ok, 7 large shrimp per plate. Shrimp & vegetables 3.0, Shrimp and broccoli (can't remember full name of dish) 4.0 stars. Service 3 star.

Yelp
I was thoroughly disappointed . I ordered take out the gentleman forgot to put the sauce for the sweet and sour chicken in the bag and called me about 10 minutes later I was already almost home I asked if they could have someone bring it to me. He said fine and I called about 30 minutes later and he said it would be about 40 more minutes. Then I opened the chicken portion and not only was the chicken undercooked with a rubbery slightly raw texture then the pan fried noodles must have been dehydrated noodles because they tasted like Cardboard. They added another wrong order into our bag and that chicken seemed undercooked as well. Probably some of the worst Chinese food I've had . I asked him to refund me at least my sweet and sour chicken and said he can't do anything I'll have to take it up through grub hub .

Yelp
Starving, too hot to go out, ordered in. Spring rolls(veggie), Shrimp Fried Rice and Hunan Chicken. Spring rolls nice crunchy & greasy w/ strange watery plum sauce? Shrimp Fried Rice had huge shrimp w/ egg, peas, onions and rice. The Hunan Chicken had mysterious tasting meat that I just could NOT eat. Nothing was awful tasting, but I would stick w/ veggie and identifiable seafood dishes.

Yelp
I ordered from door dash just after 10 pm because i had just arrived in El Paso for work and hotel had just shut kitchen. They arrived within 30 min and driver was extremely pleasant. Hot and sour soup was fabulous. I highly recommend. Pad thai was also delicious. Both were hot and fresh. Very good food - I will order again when i am in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Sweet baby jebus their beef in their broccoli beef is like butta! All of their chicken we have had, from the Hunan to the General Tso's to their Orange chicken has been light and fluffy and not overly coated! We simply inhale their white rice and their combination fried rice has such big pieces of shrimp you feel as if though you are getting the jumbo size that no other place uses since they are so big! Chop suey was on point, their eggrolls are awesome and never soggy. We still have to try their Thai menu but as of right now they officially pass Peking Garden as my favorite chinese to get delivered! Oh and they deliver! Remember to use your local spots delivery service over things like Doordash or Uber since they don't have to pay fees that way!

Yelp
Lunch specials are definitely a great deal for around $6 including entree, rice, soup and egg roll. I was disappointed to see that the sweet and sour pork was breaded and fried at first.. but upon tasting I was very pleased that it was breaded lightly, not oily, and was freshly made. Also appreciated that the sweet and sour sauce wasn't overbearingly sweet and artificial tasting. I wasn't a big fan of the chop suey, the nuts and water chestnuts just didnt do it for me. The mongolian beef was the best thing, just a good classic take.

Yelp
We were passing through and found this little gem. It was excellent. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman. We ordered to go and the food was amazing. It is spicy but it was marked with a chile pepper on the menus. So no surprise. Excellent food and service. The resturant had nice booths and appeared to be very clean. We are a family of four, ordering three entrées and fried rice was plenty with left overs. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Best "hole in the wall" chinese food spot to order from. They are fast and very friendly and the prices are definitely worth it!!! And they stay open till late which is a PLUS!!! Highly recommended to amybody looking for that good fix in El Paso!

Yelp
$30 Online order... 1.5 hours later, called to check... They hadn't even seen the order. Maybe they're making it now? Maybe I'll get to eat sometime today. Previous orders were phoned in and delivered promptly. Food is inconsistent, but usually decent. I'm NEVER using their "preferred" online system again. Delivery fee literally changed from $2 to $3 between screens too.

Yelp
I would rate this a zero, but I cant. We ordered food from phoenix palace to Mcgregor range at 5, and it got to us at 9:45. They kept pushing the time back, telling us they'll be to us in 5 minutes, and then after 30 mins they told us they'd be to us in 25... awful communication When we finally got our food we ate for a meer five minutes before we couldn't eat any more. one person gagged after her first bite, my shrimp was so chewy it had the consistency of pudding, and another pulled multiple pieces of hair out of her mouth that was in the food. We also didn't even get part of our order. We waited almost 5 hours to eat for 5 minutes. The service was awful and the food was repulsive.
google avatar

Isabelle F.

Yelp
Pretty good Chinese food, not the best I've ever had but the portions were huge and the service was great. The dinner deals are a good deal: $10 and you get soup, an eggroll and fried shrimp, steamed rice and a meat dish from the menu Didn't like the sweet and sour pork tho. It was just fried dough around pork with sauce on the side

Elvie M.

Yelp
Hot and sour soup very disappointing... Watery and very little ingredients, Sweet and sour chicken not good the chicken was way too big about the size of a chicken tender... The sweet and sour sauce strange taste and watery... General Tso's chicken tasted like it had maple syrup in it.... All in all very disappointed ... Will not order there again.

Yelp
Came on a slow saturday afternoon, which is a great time to go as we got super service being one of a few customer's. The waitress filled up my water glass promptly, in total about 5 times (was thirsty okay, don't judge). The food also came out very quickly, was hot, and appeared fresh. We ordered 3 dishes in total. The lemongrass tofu, the thai basil noodles, and the chicken with vegetables. The chicken dish was lacking flavor but the vegetables were cooked to perfection. I added some chile oil and that really enhanced the dish. The noodle dish was on the salty side but I really loved the bites that had fresh basil in it and overall since I love salt it was my favorite dish. The tofu dish was nice as well, a little sweet a little spicy, definitely satisfying for a vegetarian. So overall good Asian food, for a decent price, and portion size was enough that we took home 2 to go boxes. It is not fancy food , and its not the best I've ever had, but I will be going back so all in all I give it 3.5/5 stars, which rounds up to 5 to be nice.

Spacey Z.

Yelp
I like that the food taste like it is made from scratch. The portions are generous for the price. My complaint is the szechuan flavor they used lacked peppercorn which gives it the true szechuan taste. Their cooking oil quality could probably be fresher, but during these desperate times of the covid pandemic, it didn't give me food poisoning so it's good enough. If you want something more authentic than PF Changs and around the same price as Panda Express this place is not bad.

Robert H.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Friendly staff. We come here every chance we get. Highly recommend their basil rice and noodle dishes.

Yelp
Easily this is a great place to get some Chinese food on a budget around lunch time. There are lunch specials for less than $6 that come with the meal, egg roll, and a choice of soup. There were other options to the lunch menu but for the life of me I cannot remember at the moment and I apologize for that. They also have Vietnamese and Thai options available. I decided to come here with my mom and her friend after we had a meeting a little farther down Yandell. We got out of the meeting and were starving and this was the first place we ran into and decided to eat here. This is not the first time I have been here but Mother's Day last year as well. Last year the waiter provided my mom a free dessert in honor of Mother's Day. Upon arriving there were only two other people in the restaurant and more started coming in after we arrived. My mother and I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp Lunch Special that came with an Egg Roll and Egg Drop Soup. All in all the food was really good especially my Egg Drop Soup. It is a simple soup but honestly was really good. As for the Kung Pao Shrimp, my steamed rice was perfect and the entire meal was overall delicious. I wish I could have had a little bit more shrimp, but the lunch special was less than $6 so I am honestly more than happy with what I paid for. In total for all three of us in the group it came out to $19 and some change. Personally I think that is an excellent price because the meal definitely filled me up, especially because I did not have a chance to grab breakfast that morning. The biggest reason I gave this place a 5 star review was not just because of the food but the service. I tend to drink a lot of water and if I do not I am super dramatic and say I am going to dehydrate to death. I definitely lacked water the day before and was super thirsty when we arrived at the restaurant. I obviously ordered a water and I would basically down them. The servers were quick at refilling all of our drinks and I give them props on how fast our food came out. It was most definitely an excellent visit and I would come again.

Yelp
Friendly staff members, easy placing an order over the phone. I ordered vegetables egg rolls and shrimp lomein. The egg rolls were mushy and instead of duck sauce I was given sweet and sour sauce. The shrimp had a wet breading to it and the lo mein noodles were over cooked
google avatar

Deanna N.

Yelp
The food was authentic and very tasty. My favorite is always the hunan chicken and they prepare it well here.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
The first time we ordered take out it was good. The second time was kind of slow, meaning the server was slow. So we went one more time, the server sat down to eat when we needed her it made us feel guilty to bother her! She was the main server, "The only server working".

Laura G.

Yelp
It's worth the stop. The folks are very kind and the Restuarant us comfortable. We had the pad Thai with shrimp and the shrimp were especially delicious.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Food is always good and huge portions. I always get takeout from there and it's always hot as well

Melissa M.

Yelp
The food was delivered 3 hours later and it was cold. We also received no utensils with our order or napkins. The majority of the people that order from here are service members. Sad to see that this is how they treat us. Don't bother ordering from here, save your money and time. Not worth it. Terrible customer service.

Yelp
My mom and I were driving through El Paso and really wanted some authentic Chinese food. This place is real authentic stuff -- at first we were a little concern because our waitresses didn't know any Chinese -- but we asked to speak with the manager. My mom asked in chinese about what he had on hand for a nice soup and fried rice. And although he isn't very smiley, he was super accommodating and went through his pantry to find some seaweed for us. He made us an excellent seaweed/tofu/pork/egg soup (maybe a smidge too much cornstarch) some fried rice with chinese BBQ pork, and even made some excellent traditional stir fried greens. It was so much food we only ate the soup and took the rest for lunch (and probably dinner) for the next day. All $24 -- what a steal. Even my mom, who grew up in China thought it was excellent. I can't speak to the American-chinese style dishes like kung-pao chicken and orange chicken, but I'd you ask for more traditionally Chinese dishes this place is great!
google avatar

Jordan H.

Yelp
The food is amazing!!! It's worth the money for sure Amazing amount of food we ordered from mcgregor and received the food in a timely matter and hot!
google avatar

Gerardo S.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in at 8:30pm, one hour before closing time. I usually hesitate going to a restaurant just before closing, I have this impression that people just want to go home and won't put much into the food. Great service to start! Ice Tea was served immediately. We ordered Won Ton soup, all ingredients were fresh. The bowl size is plenty for 3-4 people. Next we ordered the Mongolian Beef and Combination fried rice. Portions were huge! The Mongolian Beef had plenty of meat, best I have found in El Paso so far. Again all veggies were fresh and I would say the plate was 70% beef/30% veggies. Great flavor as well. The fried rice was amazing! Huge pieces of chicken, beef, pork, and good size shrimp. This is the first time I ate fried rice without having to add soy sauce. You have to come and try it out! I am posting pictures of the left over portions once we were finished eating. You can only imagine the plates when they first came to the table.
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
First time coming here and was not disappointed! I really dig the vibe and waitress gave feedback on what dish to get. You get what you paid for and are left feeling satisfied! I had to get seconds because it was so good! Shrimp/pork hunan, fried noodles, and combination rice in the picture
google avatar

Aileen B.

Yelp
For the price that you pay and the amount of food you get, this place can't be beat. It was very delicious, still extremely hot when I picked up my order for take out, and cooked to perfection. We got the mango shrimp (highly recommended!), Mongolian beef lunch special, schwezan chicken lunch special, and the vegetarian noodles. Definitely want to try the lemongrass tofu next time!
google avatar

Katherina L.

Yelp
This place is affordable and a nice spot if you're an avid Chinese food lover. The portions are extremely generous and delicious! The egg rolls are my favorite. If you haven't checked out this place, definitely give it a try.
google avatar

Erika F.

Yelp
Shrimp fried rice w/ extra shrimp & no onions. Beef @ broccoli lunch special comes with egg drop soup, did not want the steamed rice. Very delicious and such HUGE serving sizes! Definitely authentic Chinese food!

Angelica T.

Yelp
had originally ordered food for pick up and total was 26.90 and so they added 28.90 instead so the lady comes to bring food and I paid with a 50 and she only gives me 20 back so she tipped herself
google avatar

Angel G.

Yelp
I am someone who loves supporting local businesses, specially during these hard times. However, this location seems to care more about their pockets than to give good customer service. They have STOLEN money from me in 2 difference occasions. Last year, I made an order for delivery, got the same items I usually order from them which costs around $17 plus I always gave the driver a $3 tip. They took $24 off my card before the driver even arrived at my residence for something I knew for a fact was only $17. The second time, I went in person and ordered yet the same thing, and STILL tipped them $2 even though it was a pick-up order. They had the audacity to steal another $1 from my card. Is not about the amount, is about principles. You don't steal from a patron who's supporting your business. Bad management!

Rob L.

Yelp
The food was terrible y'all need to do better. The rice was dry and taste like boot bottoms. How y'all messed up the rice. The boneless spare ribs tasted like wild hyenas. What y'all do to the bean curds them ashy as hell. The general Tao tasted like hotdog water. The soy sauce wasn't in a container just in the bag. Why we wait 4 hours for hotdog water and hyena meat. Now I'm writing this sitting on the toilet cuz your food is that bad. The food was overall the worst food I've ever had in my life. Ps y'all forg
google avatar

Bogar V.

Yelp
This place is quaint, set it an old home in a neighborhood near downtown El Paso. You would never expect this restaurant in this side of town. The service is fast and the food is very good and vegetables are fresh and crisp. The best this about this place is their prices and portion. Only reason I do not give it 5 stars is because the quietness of the place ( no music or television). And when it comes to the plates, they serve too much rice which if it wasn't for to go it would go to waste.

Arshia G.

Yelp
When we ordered our food they told us it would take 2 hours, which was reasonable considering we ordered for 5 people and are kind of far away. Well it's been almost 4 hours and the place closes in 15min. We called them around 2 hrs to check on the dilevery status and they said that they hadn't even left yet and needed 15min to finish making food. Then we called again at 3 hours and they told us 5 min. Now it's almost 4 hours and they told us 25 more minutes. Lmao I don't even know anymore haha
google avatar

Marie G.

Yelp
I ordered delivery and it did take 45 minutes but the food was hot when it arrived . Thy have a very extensive menu and I wish their website had a better view of it- it is had to read. I am sure there were selections on there that I would have liked to experiment with (they have Vietnamese and Japanese as well as the traditional "Chinese food") but I could not read it. The food was delicious- the combination fried rice is very good and the wonton soup is tasty.

Juan A.

Yelp
Don't be scared by the looks of the place, food is great, service is awesome, and prices are reasonable. Very recommended Chinese food place.
google avatar

Louis L.

Yelp
We tried this place because my wife is so tired of my favorite Chinese restaurant by the house. I also knew one of the employees so for a Saturday night dinner stop it was gonna have to do. And they didn't disappoint. The hot and sour soup was awesome. With a little bit of chili oil the soup was a great start. Next we tried the fried dumplings which were also very good. We ordered beef and broccoli, Gen. Tso's chicken, sweet and sour pork, and pork fried rice. Needless to say all the food was outstanding. Definitely try this place.

Dr. N.

Yelp
I ordered a couple of items and they said it would take two hours to deliver so at first i was okay with it. 4 hours later and it was never delivered, by then it had already been way past closing time. I paid $30 for it by the way
google avatar

Lorena S.

Yelp
Wish i could give 0 stars for their service!! We ordered some food for delivery and were told that it would take 45mins to get it. HOWEVER IT TOOK THEM 2 1/2 hours to deliver it. When we received it, it was cold and the egg rolls, crab ragoons, and shrimp were all soggy. After waiting for so long the least they could've done was delivered hot food, but that was not the case. My husband called to speak to a manager about the situation, and the "manager" said he would send us a new fresh hot order, and as i am writing this, its been almost 2 hours and the replacement order has yet to arrive. Im very disappointed because the food seems to be tasty if it was actually hot and fresh , not cold and soggy. Don't order delivery unless you want to eat hours later and reheated in the microwave. UPDATE: its already late night and we NEVER received that replacement order the manager promised. Safe to say we will be taking our business elsewhere because of the horrible service.

Yelp
Was staying with my family in El Paso for the night as we were heading to Dallas; after a long drive we decided to order in, The hotel had the menu and we decided to order from here. The food was great and huge portions more than enough to share. Food was really good!!!
google avatar

Mario G.

Yelp
I found a piece of sharp metal in my food so they quickly removed my plate and cooked a new one. To me it's ridiculous that after that and the risk that poses on my health they bring out a new plate and then charge me for it. Needless to say I'm never ever going back. A we're sorry or something along those lines would have gone a long way. But they just pretended it never happened I have half a mind to call the health department and have them check this place out. So beware.
