The Best Wineries with Food in Napa Valley | Eater SF

"The Delicacies experience at Piazza Del Dotto ($225, available Thursday to Saturdays) is like a scene right out of Under the Tuscan Sun. The atmosphere is casual, though the wine and food are anything but. Start with a barrel tasting of about five wines in the marble-lined cave. Then sit down for a bottle tasting of another five wines, along with four bites. The array of dishes changes regularly, but expect premium dishes such as a Maine lobster panzanella paired with chardonnay; potato cappellini with classic Italian pork belly sugo paired with pinot noir; and a chocolate chip cookie parfait with espresso mouse and the Del Dotto Dolores, a fruit-forward dessert wine. It’s worth noting that this location is separate from the historic Del Dotto Winery and Caves on Atlas Peak Road." - Dianne de Guzman

Hands down one of the best winery experiences I have had in Napa. From the cave tour to the food and wine pairing, everything was amazing. The most beautiful place too! The garden was gorgeous.

This was the last winery we toured while in Napa and it did not disappoint! Upon entrance in their main building you’re greeted with friendly staff and served a glass of wine (which we ended up buying one of these bottles because it was so good) and were then paired up with two other couples (from NJ and IL) and our host, Simon. Simon made this tour exceptional! He was friendly, informative and most of all his personality is what made all 6 of wanting to spend the rest of the afternoon there chatting and having fun. The wines we tasted progressively got better and better. The caves were impressive and learning about the history was great. After the tour we sat down in their patio which was equally impressive with all the arches with vines growing throughout. It was absolutely beautiful! They served our group our pizza (which they asked what we would like before the tour) and some tater tots with dipping sauce. This food was icing on the cake after the wonderful tour with our outstanding host, Simon. Yep, we ended up having a few bottles shipped home as we loved this wine so much. Can’t wait for it to arrive. Highly recommend to tour this winery when in Napa!

My family and I did the cave wine tasting here and were blown away by the experience. The grounds were beautifully decorated. It felt like being transported to Italy. On top of that, the wine tour was one of the best I’ve experienced. Our guide, Daniel, was personable and enthusiastic. He gave a wonderful background on the history of the grounds, authenticity of the owners, and wine making process. The pizza at the end was chef’s kiss. 😘 The wine pours we received were healthy which should be the standard set for other wineries based on pricing in my opinion. The customer service and bang for your buck exceeded expectations (we had a disappointing tour at Far Niente aferwards). We are now wine members and highly recommend this as a top experience in Napa Valley!! 🍷 🍕

2 years later, ive returned with my husband for a birthday trip. I have to say it was a totally different experience. Although the wine was still amazing, the tour was so rushed and unrelaxing. We felt that the whole time we were on fast forward. I had to dump most of my wines or slam them back as if i was in a college frat party, so I did not miss out on the next barrel tasting. For the cost of the tour, you should at least be able to sip, savor and enjoy. Definitely not the experience I had the first time and Definitely Would choose another winery on our next return for a little more enhanced experience. Previously visited Vegne vineyard and they were personable, informative and non rushed. We ended up wine club members. Choose your experiences wisely, they determine if you will return.we visited 7 wineries during this trip, we became members at 4 of these, ordered from another, and we're currently members at the 6th one. Guess which winery we did not join? I've learned that it really matters who conducts your tour, and boy did we luck out with ROSANNE! She was an amazing host who shared her love of the piazzo, her knowledge and enthusiasm. This is the best wine I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The wine tapped from the barrels in the caves are utterly amazing. Once done with the barrel tastings, we were lead out to a stunning garden patio, where we enjoyed delectable pizza, Tater tots, and more wine! We were able to walk the grounds and experience the stunning gardens and statues. So unforgettable, unbelievably beautiful! If you have the opportunity to go here, do not pass this up! I will most definitely be back.

Google
Amazing venue, world class wine and top notch service! These are big cabernets so make it your final tasting of the day, otherwise tasting after Del Dotto will be disappointing as your pallet will be done. This Piazza location is one of the most expensive wineries in Napa with all the materials, scull, art coming from Italy. The wine barrels tasting is phenomenal. While most are cabernets they do have Zins. Pinots, and sangiovese but save your sobriety for the cabernets. If you’re lucky and on a tour with VIP members you’ll tasting their big cabs behind the curtain. Villa Delago is Pritchard Hill and known as the Beauty. Their Villa Delago tasting location is still under development. The Beast is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from all of their Estate Vineyard. The Beauty, Beast, 887, St Helena and the David are some of the best wines in Napa. Following the tasting you’ll enjoy pizza and salumi in the garden area. VIPs also get their famous tater tots. Overall, an amazing wine tasting experience. Del Dotto is an upper class winery with the widest range of cabernets (15 versions) ranging from $70 to $500. They have an excellent Zinfandel and pinots, bubbles and port. Construction is ongoing to the $350 million+ project with expansion to include more caves, balcony tasting, crush pad and fountains and bridge on the lake. While membership perks have diminished post-pandemic, the service and quality of the wine is world class. For your expectations, since the fires, the number of barrel tastings were reduced. At one point they literally didn't have any David to barrel taste. So while the tasting fees are high, it is Napa and you are walking on structures built by Italians artisans (saw them working) with stone and materials shipped from Italy. All the cabs are fantastic, big , bold, lots of structure and high alcohol. Make this your last stop otherwise you won't make stop 2 or 3. And the wines are so big you'll get palette fatigue anyways. The nickname for Del Dotto is Del Blotto. Everyone is always friendly and very knowledgeable. Oscar, Simon and Roseanne are my absolute favorite hosts! End our tour food is always awesome and if you're lucky you'll get the tomatoes. Do enjoy the garden if the weather is great and say hi to the chickens and peacocks. Spring time all the blooms are out and the garden is beautiful. We've done Barrels and Beast and that is such an amazing experience. We've also done the food pairing and everyone was matched perfectly. Food pairing is a one stop day event. People coming here complaining about the lake bridge not open or the construction and high tasting fee cost are coming here for instagram pictures not the wine. Piazza is a "must do" experience and you just might see Dave among the guests.

This was my first formal tasting visit to Del Dotto Piazza which is a mere 5 minutes from my home in Yountville. The property is beautiful with inviting gardens, a view of their Oakville Vineyard and their aviary is off the patio with peacock, chickens and turkeys. My tasting started with their Sparkling Rose' and some bread bites with Del Dotto Olive Oil. The Rose' was a lovely color, light and perfectly sweet. That was followed by a generous plate of tator tots with ketchup and aoili...Great because I was HUNGRY! Next was their Chardonnay which was a nicely balanced wine, not a butter bomb and just the right amount of oak. Highly recommended based on my opinion. I was then given a side-by-side of their 2021 Pinot Noir which was a great combo of light and refreshing with delightful acidity and mouth feel. The older 2016 was decidedly dry and while complex I would lay it down for another 5 years to appeal to my taste. I moved into their Merlot forward red blend which included Cabernet Savignon, Cabernet Franc, Verdot, Syrah, Malbec and the surprise of a touch of Grenache. This was a very easy to drink wine which would likely pair with almost anything. I then proceeded into Cab country with their '21 Cab Sav which is 80% Cab and was a nicely approachable Cab that is ready to drink now. Then came my absolute favorite Del Dotto creation, their 2021 Reserve...in a word...WOW!!! It presented complexity and simplicity in a single sip...90% Napa Valley Cab with 10% Howell Mtn. Merlot. I'll take a case...thank you very much. Finally I tried their 100% Oakville Cab and frankly while it was similar to the Reserve, I would choose the Reserve as the best value at Del Dotto. My recommendation...GO TO DEL DOTTO and note that they have great Napolitano Pizzas if you reserve the barrel tasting and cave tour. Cheers...Robert@Jessup Cellars

This place wasn’t our favorite one when we went to Napa, maybe it’s because they were doing a little construction when we went. But we did get to go see and take a picture of the face over the door, but we could not enter that way. The Tasting was interesting. They were very nice. You get to taste the wine out of the barrel, which is pretty cool, unique, and different than others!. And afterwards you can sit at the table in the garden area and you get whole pizza and your last glass of wine! The garden area is really pretty as well. But during the tour the underground cave tunnel looks super long! So cool! They won’t let you take pictures or videos so I tried to sneak a few in. The gardens were pretty cool to wonder around in afterwards as well. Really pretty flowers! It’s a pretty venue, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price. They do not offer a military discount like some of the others do. I would like to see their other two properties Next time I’m in Napa….

The wine and food pairing experience is amazing! The cave tour is a feast for the eyes. The stone walls, the mosaic floor, the paintings on ceilings and overall ambience with the music is a must try. The patio and gardens are beautiful as well and very enjoyable with heat lamps on a cold day. The food is beyond delicious and very well presented. I highly recommend visiting!

Yelp
Absolutely breathtaking once you walk through the doors to the cave. My husband and I had a wonderful experience touring and tasting. The outdoor gardens are also beautiful. This by far has been our favorite winery in California. The wine is first class and you must try 'the beast' our bottles will be arriving this fall.

Yelp
Any place that balances generous tastings of wine with pizza is a win in my book. Upon entry, check in was simple - we were asked to select our pizza choice and then we were given a tasting of a wine to enjoy while we waited for our tour to start. During this time we were also allowed to walk the garden. Promptly at our appointment time, we were guided to the cave where we were able to sample at least 6 more wines. It was very interesting to taste them at different ages because even for a wine noob like myself, you could clearly taste the increasing complexity and distinctly note different characteristics. After the tour, we were returned to the garden area where we were served our pizzas of choice with some tator tots and a couple other pours of wine lol. They definitely take care of you here haha! The carbs were super clutch and I'll also give credit where credit is due, the pizza had a nice tender crust and the charred broccolini that we opted for made each bite nice and herbaceous too! Vincenzo was a great guide and overall we greatly enjoyed our experience!

Yelp
Our sixteenth (and second to last) winery stop of our Napa trip last year found us at Del Dotto winery. We came for our tour in the caves on a day where some of the grounds were under construction, but we were excited to check out all the same. Maybe it was the fact we were on our third tour of the day and towards the end of our trip, maybe it was the fact we weren't allowed to photograph within the caves, maybe it was that one of the other guests on our tour made it clear she didn't drink red wine, even though we were clearly on a tour tasting barrel-aged red wines as what was advertised and selected. I found the experience underwhelming. Make no mistake, the grounds around the tasting house and patio are gorgeous. The backdrop definitely radiates Italian vibes as if you were touring one of the Italian regions such as Piedmont or Tuscany. The interior tasting area is beautifully designed with dark wood finishing and stained glass. The fountains and statues were beautiful against green hedges. Our guide was very friendly, and had us sample four different barrel-aged reds that were solid, and had a fine knowledge on the wines and the winery. But in comparison to some of the other wineries we frequented, I didn't find them show-stopping to where I would spend what the bottles go for retail at the tasting room. Additionally, every cave from the previous wineries we toured never had issues with photography within them, so being restricted within Del Dotto was off putting. While the caves were also well decorated in a Mediterranean design that set it apart from other caves we toured, i did wonder if there were other caves where most of the barrels were aging. You did feel you were more in a museum setting than a wine cave, even if the design was opulent and stylish. This experience made the winery more touristy in feel in contrast to some of the wineries where you felt more like those who were enthusiastic about the wine and wine in general were there. Having someone on our tour that didn't drink red wine and outright refused to try any within the group we were in also didn't help the experience. It would be one thing if it was tour where there was supposed to be a mix of red and whites, but per my memory, Del Dotto does mostly Cabernet Sauvignon reds so that shouldn't have been a surprise or a disappointment.

Yelp
If you're more 10 minutes late to cancel your reservation, we pulled in the property 12 minutes late. Walked up to the entrance at 12:15. They said sorry you can only be 10 minutes late here for the lunch wow you're Napa you're gonna be 15 minutes early or late anywhere you go !!!!! I've only been here once since this place is open, and this is why! Next !!!!

Yelp
Seen some good & bad reviews about Del Dotto wineries. I decided to give them a try and wine taste at one of their wineries. I did wait till the last minute and asked to see if they had same day cave touring at any of their 3 wineries. Unfortunately their were no cave tours available. Piazza del Del Dotto said they would be able to do bar tasting @$75 per person but cave tours were not available. I said that was fine since i wanted to look at their property and taste their wine. Upon our arrival, construction is in progress but their property looked beautiful, their outdoor garden could use some work. Hint the 2 starts. We went to check in and our hostess was friendly and tried To see of their was room in one our their cave tours which we did not expect since we had already called. She said she would talk to the manager. While waiting another hostess rudely asked for our payment which i was fine to pay. The manager then came and looked at us and killed the experience. She said they were full in a degrading way. Maybe everyone uncomfortable. I had already paid and asked for a refund since i did not want any part of it. Extremely poor customer service, especially when they are charging $75 to wine taste and $120 for cave tours. Unfortunately i would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Sooo beautiful just speechless! We were there fist time and brought our brother and sister in law with us. The tour was good, wine was delicious, pizza was good BUT those tots wow I didn't expect them to be so crunchy and yummy ! At the end I got to meet the owners the dad and son. We will be back and will send many people to experience this amazing winery ! Just lovely !

Yelp
I am now a loyal and loving del dotto fan. The cave tasting is a great experience and they pour plenty of wine! I recommend it as one of your last stops as often times I don't even want to go anywhere after. I am a big fan of Cab and Del Dotto does that and some. Try out American vs French Oak (I'm a French Oak guy) and you will really appreciate the subtleties. They do a little pizza and tater tot pairing at the end which will help you sober up before you drive off.

Yelp
Amazing winery. As members, We had the VIP tour and Vincenzo was our wine tour guide and Client representative. The winery is so so romantic and it will remind you of Italy. We had the high end wines to taste and took home some of the new Villa de lago and Beast wines. We had food after your at the courtyard. Great tasting wood fired pizza and some charcuterie paired with amazing reserve wines. David Del Dotto happens to be there and signed our beast 6 bottle lot. I shopped for some candles to take home. I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
This is THE wine tasting to be, period. I have been a proud member for a few years, been to the various locations for over 50 visits and the experience and the wine is just amazing. I personally like the Piazza location the best because of the elevated food pairing experience. The delicacies is the way to go ($225 for non members, $175 for members) which included the cave barrel tasting (about 45 minutes) which is just super fun and educational. Honestly, this never gets old even though I have visited 100 + times. Then you are seated in the patio - beautiful garden area with the 5 courses lunch that I am so blown away. You cannot get this quality of food even at Bouchon or other Michelin starred restaurants! Spoiler alert here is a sample lunch menu: Tsar Nicoulai Reserve Caviar, Smoked Ivory Salmon, Roasted Garlic Flatbread Maine Lobster Roll, with Brioche Bun Bronze Die Radiatori Carbonara, Wolfe Ranch Pancetta, with Sweet Peas Amazing!!!!

Yelp
I HIGHLY recommend the caves tour & tasting! Upon your arrival, you will be given a tour and tasting inside the marble caves by a sommelier (note: although this winery is very picturesque, pictures are technically not allowed inside the caves). Our group was able to taste from several barrels of wine (about 10 wines in total), to differentiate between red wine aged in American Oak vs. French Oak wood barrels. I've never had a tasting that allowed you to taste the difference between the two; it was a very unique experience (I learned the MOST from this tour, than any tour I've EVER been on). After the tour through the caves, we went into the main building to finish our wine tasting, along with complimentary pizza, tater tots, and chocolate. We loved both the pizza and tater tots so much that they brought us a second round of them! I thought the salted chocolate was some of the best chocolate I've had, and purchased a package to bring home with me. All of red wine was delicious; my favorite that I ordered to be delivered to me was the Rutherford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon- it was smooth with big bold flavors, and fruity. This is my favorite tour and tasting in Napa!! Our tour guide and sommelier, Dustin, was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable, he truly made our experience one-of-a-kind. The wine, food, tour, and service were 10/10 and I will most definitely return!!

Yelp
One of Napa's finest spot. Very boujie and grand. Close eye to details and easily one of the prettiest wineries in Napa. The barrel tasting is pricey but worth it. They serve pizza and tator tots at the end as well which honestly is a really weird combo with the wine tasting but it did not subtract from the experience. Pizza was mid as well. If you are going to serve food with this level of wine, please make sure it is of the same quality. Anyways, we loved our tour guide and the whole experience was informative, fun, and a great way to spend a few hours when in the Napa Valley.

Yelp
Del Dotto is generally a cool place to visit once if you have never done it (unique barrel tasting tour option where you can taste futures out of a wine thief right from the barrel and really great pizza and tater tots to end the tasting with) but having gone back a couple times now, I find that it's starting to lose its appeal. I have found over the years that the wine has generally been less impressive to me and the wine educators guiding us through the tour less knowledgeable and interesting. That said, if you have never been here before, I think it's worth visiting at least one of them once. This one is still a bit under construction so the other two are a bit prettier, but this one (I think) has the best tasting pizza and tater tots. This one also has a pretty garden to walk through with chickens/peacocks (no joke - odd but kind of cool).

Yelp
Absolutely amazing 5/5. We made reservations for what we thought was at 3:30 turns out it was at 3pm and the hostess was able to squeeze us in to the last tour. I don't even know where to begin. We were part of a small group (6 people). We were given a tour of the caves where the wine was being made and it was absolutely beautiful inside. A sommelier guided us around the cave and gave us tastings of different types of wine. Every single wine we tasted was absolutely delicious!! I wish I could have bought them all home. At the end of the guided tour we were brought inside to a table that was already set up for us. They served us hot pizza and tater tots along with another glass of wine to end the tour. This was definitely one of my favorites in napa and I can't wait to visit again! I know that they have a total of 3 locations so maybe next time I'll go visit the other ones. The experience, the wine, the service. Everything was a 10/10. I would definitely come back and would recommend this place to everyone.

Yelp
We had a wonderful visit to this amazing property, touring the wine cave was such fun and gave us an appreciation of the wine and how it's made, and the differences between American and oak barrels... Kendall was a great tour guide. We were treated to lunch back in the main room with delicious pizza, tater tots, and sandwiches! Such a beautiful place.! Estate is stunning, and there are many photo ops for those of you that enjoy that kind of thing, along with the delicious wines and great stories .

Yelp
Our party of 10 enjoyed our tour. Vincenzo lead our group through the caves and wine. At the end we tasted some bottles while eating pizza and tots. Napa is full of bold Cabs. I feel that the wines we tasted can hang with some of the big dogs in the Valley.

Yelp
This winery is one of the more picturesque places to visit in Napa. The Del Dotto wineries have 3 different locations, so be sure to pay attention to what location you are booking your reservation. Making reservations was very easy. There is a link on the main website that will take you to a third party booking website. You choose your preferred date, time, and number of people. The full payment is due at the time of the online reservation. When you first enter the grounds, there isn't much to look at, but after you check in, the gardens is the ideal place for photos. Depending on the season, there is a beautiful arch of flowers or leaves. Since we visited in the winter, no foliage has grown yet. There are beautiful statues and coops near the back of the garden for the peacocks and turkeys. We went on the 1.5 hour wine tour of the marble caves. At check in we were given white wine, and throughout the tour, we tried various red wines straight from the barrel. The tour finishes off in the garden where you're served pepperoni pizza. Maybe it's because of all the wine drinking, but this was the best pizza I've ever had. So cheesy and fresh out of the oven.

Lily S.

Yelp
This is one of the most beautiful wineries I've visited and probably one of the most exclusive. Upon arriving you feel like you're transported to Italy. The architecture, gardens, sculptures, and fountains have a very Roman feel. However, in order to tour their winery or do any tasting, you must make a reservation and prepay. The tour of their caves includes tasting of about 10 wines, including some barrel wines, and pizza and chocolate appetizers afterwards. The tour does not include any additional discount to purchase their wines. No one under 21 is allowed on the tour. However, we were able to bring our baby through their gardens and fountains after the tour (at least no one stopped us). There are also peacocks, turkeys, chickens, and pigeons in coups for the little one to enjoy. Overall, it was a fun day for all.

Yelp
Del Dotto is one of our favorite wineries. I never go to Napa without stopping here. Del Dotto has 3 location you can visit and each one of them has its very special character. At the Piazza Del Dotto as we walk in the beautiful landscaped property we were greeted by several people. We started off with a glass of their Sparkling Rose so refreshing. Of course I always take a bottle or two of this amazing wine. Then our sommelier guide Al greeted us and even though we have been here many times each tour guide has new exciting stories to tell. We walked through this beautifully landscaped cave and immediately you feel like you are in Italy. All the lights, flooring and decorations are shipped directly from Italy. We tasted a few of their fabulous wine in the Cave. Ended the cave tour tasting their finest wines 887, Villa De Lago and The Beast. Al walk us back to Piazza Del Dotto's beautiful garden where we finished our tour with more wine and their yummy pizza, truffled tator tots and their aged meat charcuterie plate. Definitely an amazing place to visit. I love love love this winery I cannot say enough how much I love visiting Del Dotto properties the people are super nice and happy it shows on how they treat their guests. If you see Dave, Yolanda Or Desiree in the property they make an effort to greet you and say hello. Piazza also has their Delicacies Tasting where they start with the tour and tasting at the Cave and end with small bites perfectly paired with their amazing wine. If you haven't visited one of their properties you are missing out. Overall, 5 stars I would give 6 stars in my opinion.

Yelp
This was my first time doing a wine tasting in a cave and it was an awesome experience! The winery itself is beautiful and feels like you're in Italy (though I haven't been lol). Piazza del Dotto is based off Tuscany while the other location is supposedly influenced by Venice (and one more that I don't remember). While you wait for the tour, you can walk around the garden and take photos. During the tour, you get to see the wine cave and taste wine straight out of the barrels. Very interesting experience and a good amount of wine :) We got free pizza, tater tots, and chocolate at the end. The food is just okay but you get another glass of wine with the "meal." The staff were nice (our party was late but they were accommodating) and tour guide was knowledgeable. I would love to visit again in spring/warmer weather!

Yelp
This was my first wine tasting experience and I absolutely loved it! Thank you to our host Ed for being so kind, patient and informative. The inside of the caves were absolutely beautiful. Kind of wish the tour was longer because we couldn't get enough of everything around us. Thanks again, I will definitely be returning in the future.

Yelp
Food and wine were both amazing. The grounds are beautiful and the service was great. Who knew peas could taste so good. One of the best lobster rolls I've ever had and I'm ready to have another one already. Will definitely be back though may do the lower priced tasting as the pizzas that were passing by our table looked great.

Yelp
Are we in Italy? D&E Anniversary The perfect romantic setting. Piazza Del Dotto Family Wineries & Caves is conveniently located in the heart of Napa Valley ---and the setting is absolutely breathtaking. Every aspect of the winery is stunningly outlined in Italian marbel, lime stone and Murano glass decorate the property in authentic style. The scenery alone is wonderfully intoxicating. We stopped in for not only wine tasting but to tour the gardens-which alone are worth a visit. There are 135 year old olive trees that have been brought to the estate along with various beautiful statues, numerous seating options, and to our surprise-wildlife (peacocks, chickens, pheasants- etc in large farm like pens). As you walk through the garden you are welcomed by scenic views. With so much to see and wine to taste-we did not make it in time to book a tour. However-next time we will start with the cave tour and then make our way through the gardens again-wine pairing too! Cost: Cave Experience & Barrel Tasting $80 plus tax Monday - Thursday and $120 plus tax Friday - Sunday

Yelp
Hands down Piazza Del Dotto was our favorite wine tasting! The ambiance of everything --the grounds, the landscaping, decor and the staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Kendall was very knowledgeable and so patient with us as our group + the two couples who joined us were chatty and flavorful as we shared stories with one another and snapped many pictures! Kendall described the future additions that will make the vineyard even more grand. All of the marble and design elements are shipped from Italy, so that sets the tone and says it all! The cave wine tasting is on the pricier end, but it was worth every penny. We received a very throughly lesson about the barrel aging process and the various wines Del Dotta makes. To close out our tour Kendall provided us a prosciutto pizza...and then a veggie pizza because we are foodies and wanted more :-) I will most definitely return to the Del Dotto estate once more additions are complete.

Yelp
This is an overdue review of my food and wine pairing experience at Del Dotto from 2019. I fell in love with Del Dotto the first time I visited its cave, and I decided to spurge and treated my date to a food and wine pairing experience. Weather was perfect during our time of visit and we were able to enjoy our experience outside with another group of happy patrons that are on their second or third tasting. Our host during our visit was Rosanna, and we had the best time. In 2019, the food and wine pairing was $175pp. I wanted to visit them again during my most recent trip to Napa, but they were fully booked during the day of my visit. As of December 2021, their food and wine pairing is $225pp. Highly recommended for those that enjoy good food, service and wine.

Yelp
The wine and food pairing experience is amazing! The cave tour is a feast for the eyes. The stone walls, the mosaic floor, the paintings on ceilings and overall ambience with the music is a must try. The patio and gardens are beautiful as well and very enjoyable with heat lamps on a cold day. The food is beyond delicious and very well presented. I highly recommend visiting!

Yelp
Wow where do I begin. The property is beautiful. You walk in and they greet you like family. There were three of us, we had a reservation for 2:30 pm, and arrived 30 minutes early, which was fine with Del Dotto front desk team. They poured us bubbly and showed us where to sit outside in the beautiful piazza.. Everyone was extremely friendly. I had booked the wine and delicacies tasting. Ed was our tour guide that explained everything from the juice to the barrels. Absolutely no rush, he was kind and professional. I was fortunate enough to run into Dave Del Dotto and his beautiful wife. Down to earth and lovely people. Once we tasted in the caves we were escorted to the patio where we enjoyed a 5 star food and wine pairings. Again, everything was explained. The service was above and beyond. Heather was so kind, helpful and polite. Beyoncé's sister Monoce was helping serve. (Not really Beyoncé's sister, but what a sweet young woman) I still can't believe how wonderful the food was. We drove from San Jose and no need for dinner! This was above and beyond any restaurant in Napa. From what I was told, the menu changes with whatever is fresh. I can't wait to go back. Thank you Ed and your team members! Again, it was a PRICELESS experience and I can't express how wonderful the day was. THANK YOU DEL DOTTO

Yelp
Post COVID February 2022 and still 5 Stars! If you're lucky and on a tour with VIP members you'll tasting their big cabs behind the curtain. Following the tasting you'll enjoy pizza and salumi in the garden area. VIPs also get their famous tater tots. Overall, an amazing wine tasting experience.

Yelp
Beautiful venue and excellent service. Makes you forget you are still in California, feels more like a Sicilian summer. The Peacock garden with handmade pizza is the perfect finish!

Yelp
Let's get this 3 star rating clarified right out the gates: The wine is amazing. Estate is gorgeous. Overall, GREAT vibes. But I can't give higher than a 3 star rating for a place in which a server brazenly removes his mask!! COVID is serious and everyone needs to abide by the rules so amazing places like this can stay open! Ok, back to the review. We did the barrel tasting ($80pp), right before the second COVID shutdown. Due to the restrictions, the tasting didn't take place in a cave but rather outside on the terrace. Our server was awesome.. super informative, not salesy. I believe his name was Jeremy but I could be wrong. He was NOT the one who removed his mask thankfully. There were heat lamps provided and the barrel tasting came with a freshly baked sourdough pizza! They even made it vegetarian for me which was a really considerate touch. However, I couldn't feel 100% at ease during the tasting because a server who was helping a neighboring table (gentleman with white hair) would remove his mask and do his spiel .. even tasting wine alongside that table. He was facing directly in our direction too. I don't want to jump to conclusion but I got the feeling he might've been the manager on duty too, making it even more concerning. We ended up leaving with an amazing Piazza Carbenet Sauvignon and a Sangiovese that we are both very excited to enjoy. Not sure if I would ever come back though, which is a bit of a bummer because the estate is beautiful and the wine is exceptional. I hope when things open up they will revise their safety protocols.

Yelp
One of my favorite wineries in Napa. The food, wine, and ambiance is amazing! You will not be disappointed with the cave tasting.

Yelp
Came here for a 10am wine tasting on Sunday morning (the only slot we could get - yay Valentine's Day) and wow! What an over the top but unique experience. Styled as if someone brought Las Vegas's Venetian to Napa, the piazza itself is a grandiose setting, with high ceilings, tiled floors, and general opulence. We sat on the patio which, given the light rain and general coolness of the morning, was a wise move. Combined with the heat lamps, we were more than comfortable. While the tasting itself was expensive, it was nice to have a private table to taste at (especially during this era of social distancing) and we did get a whole fresh pizza (yay breakfast pizza) with our meal that paired extremely well with the red wines that we tasted.

Yelp
I visited Piazza Del Dotto for a work event. We had a tour of the caves and tried many delicious wines ranging from chardonnay to cabernet. My favorites were the Zinfandel and Rose. It is a lovely property where they are expanding the caves. After the tastings, we had small bites (thin pizza, tator tots and various salami/meats). I purchased 2 bottles. The winery is great for team building/events!

Yelp
This was hands down my favorite tour that we went on throughout the trip. The property, the knowledge, the pizza, the WINE!! Everything was top notch quality and 100% worth the $$$$. I'll return every time.

Yelp
A beautiful winery and knowledgeable guide. The foodie wine tasting was outstanding, along with great service. I was just wanting a great experience, where I could taste fine wines and pairing it with some good food. Piazza Del Dotto satisfied all my expectations. We were fortunate to get matched up with a wine club member, and were fortunate to try some higher end wines. I could not have asked for a more memorable experience. I left my experience, with the Corona Dragon Label Series. An awesome souvenir, to remind me of this wonderful day.

Yelp
Wine caves, and tasting straight from the barrel! This place is absolutely beautiful, and our tour guide was great, he was so personable and knowledgeable, Im actually disappointed in myself for not remembering his name. The pizza we had after our tour was perfect (and delicious) to finish off our tasting. With so many places to pick from in this area, I highly recommend this tour, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Love loved LOVE this winery! I can whole heartedly say this is my new Napa favorite! During COVID & Shelter In Place orders, the Piazza location is the Only Del Dotto property open out of the 3. The outdoors wine tasting is a site to see. GORGEOUS! Wines are light for perfect summer days. Every view in the estate is breathtaking. So much green! So much perfection. So many photo ops! I have already referred several friends. I WILL go again hopefully soon. The driveway at the front of the location was closed- so many photos missed. Hopefully next time

Yelp
Karissa was lovely and gave us an amazing experience. Piazza Del Dotto is beautiful. We really liked the Piazza Rose and Pinot today. The side by side French and American barrel Cabernet Sauvignon tastings were fun to try! We will return!

Yelp
We showed up a little early to our tour to make sure we didn't miss the start. If you are late, no worries, you can catch up to where the group is. They have a lovely courtyard in the back which is perfect for taking some pictures and you can get a pretty close look at the vineyard next to it. I don't remember reading about this on their site but they actually have some chickens, doves, turkeys, and peacocks in cages that you can look at as well! Our tour guide Rosanne was very knowledgeable about wine making in general and what sets Piazza Del Dotto apart from other wineries in the area. When we took our tour, the plaza in front of the caves was still under construction. They have very grand plans for the exterior of the caves (think a facade crafted by artisans brought in from Florence) so if you can wait a year, you can check out the finished product! The inside of the caves is almost done with the exception of a few rooms that we didn't have access to and it's really very pretty inside with the impressive floors and the flattering lighting. She did not hold back during the tasting portion of the tour at all. In fact, a few of the people in tour group went from civil to exuberant by about the 6th glass. It does add up to be quite a bit to drink and if you can't finish it all, there are spittoons along the way where you can pour out your excess wine. They also smartly had water stations and bread sticks set up in the caves so you could snack between glasses. I did feel a little bit rushed during the tour. If they're going to make the caves that beautiful, everyone is going to want a picture in there. Just let us be tourists! I think what sets this tour + tasting apart from other wineries is that they give you food at the end. I honestly can't imagine tasting 10 wines with literally nothing at the end. It was great being able to take in the experience back at the manor which is also a sight to see, while enjoying some snacks. We were given slices of pizza (one cauliflower, one mushroom), a small charcuterie plate, and bits of bread with their own brand of olive oil. We had 3 groups with us so they kind of had 3 stations set up but the portions were the same for everyone so the bigger the group was, the smaller your portion was. Each person could get about 2 slices of pizza if everyone was sharing. The pizza was really mediocre at best but some of the meat was to die for. Someone did try to order more food but they do not have a restaurant license which means people can't order food.

Yelp
Amazing winery that is worth everything. We went to 6 wineries in a day, this one was the best of all. KENDALL is the best guide ever! Very nice and knowledgeable. I would recommend tours with him. Thanks again! Caves are beautiful

Yelp
If you're a fan of impactful design and exceptional service, Piazza Del Dotto's cave tour and tasting is a must. When CellarPass gave us the wrong address for the tour, the winery team was perfectly accommodating. The barrel tasting was a welcome change to our usual tasting experiences, with Del Dotto's unique design sensibility adding flair to the setting. Carson was an excellent guide, addressing every question from our group with a wide range of ages, expertise, and interests. The meal following the tasting was a delight - and surprise, in Napa. We were served some very necessary tots and a delicious vegan pizza. I've visited many, many places in Napa that are not so accommodating to dietary restrictions. The meal was a great addition to our visit, and service from Roberto was top notch. Carson closed our experience by pouring the 2016 Reserve Cab - an excellent recommendation, in line with our preferences expressed throughout the tasting, and the perfect choice to take home.

Yelp
There's a opening for the cave tour? Don't mind if I do. Piazza Del Dotto is the newest of the 3 Del Dotto locations and it is quickly becoming my favorite. The wine at Del Dotto speaks for itself. The experience is world class. The cave tour experience is similar to the other two locations but the construction on the grounds is not completed yet which is very exciting. As is the caves are gorgeous. Our tour guide was very accommodating and most importantly, very knowledgeable of not only the wines but the winemaking process. Really can't speak highly enough of this location and I can't wait to return when the construction is completed. Cheers!

Yelp
Highly recommended! We went on July 4 and had a party of 5. We had our guide that did a great job. Down to earth, pleasant and knowledgeable. The wine is fantastic. The tasting from the barrels is very nice. We went to the older Del Dotto a few years ago and was very impressed. It was a great time in the caves and tasting the wine at this newer location. The timing was not too long but long enough to enjoy. We were seated in the garden after and presented with pizzas and tater tots. Special request tastings were offered and purchases can be made. The entire property is beautiful. Outstanding visit.

Yelp
The rumors are true, their wines will send you to a different planet. Stunning and upscale property. We loved the cave tasting, it was such a unique experience and Kendall was awesome. Super laid back and funny but very knowledgeable, we really enjoyed our time with him. We tasted 8 wines I believe and those pours were very generous so afterwards you will definitely feel it. They served us a delicious pizza on the outside patio after which was nice for "recovery". As New Yorkers we are pizza snobs and theirs was really good but we were also very buzzed lol

Yelp
Very pleasant and beautiful experience. Came here for Mother's Day celebration. It is a Michelin star restaurant. We did wine tasting with lunch. All of it cost $180 per person. If you choose a non-alcoholic experience, it costs $90. Worth it in my opinion because the food is delicious and the wine is plentiful. If you want to buy a bottle, they are pricey (most are around $100 if not more) and they'll have to ship it to you bc they are sometimes not bottled yet. Definitely recommend it. This may sound stupid but don't forget your ID as they will actually not serve you if you don't have your ID... even if you clearly look over 21.

Yelp
How can you not love the wine here, me myself I'm a big fan of any of the del Dotto reds. I've been to both of the other Del Dotto locations and this location is just as Beautiful as their other location up the street. The tasing we did was out door and sit down only due to the COVID 19 , so we did not get a chance to walk around the property but over all I enjoyed the tasting. Can't wait till they're full open so I can get the full wine tasting experience here and check out their cave . I will be back.

Yelp
I was excited to try out this place because of the rave reviews, but ended up being disappointed. A friend & I came on a Monday during the pandemic, so tasting was by reservation only. Our previous tasting at another winery ran a little long, so we were a tad late to our reservation, but thankfully they were still able to accommodate us. That good first impression, however, quickly turned sour. We were thoroughly disappointed by our host - he was not engaging at all, seemed uninterested, and didn't really tell us much about the wines we were drinking. He might as well have just read straight off of the paper that we had in front of us. We were literally the only party there for a tasting at the time, so I would be more forgiving if it were busy, but it was not. The wines here were just okay for me. My friend and I weren't impressed enough to leave with a bottle of anything. Also, maybe this is nit-picky of me, but while I appreciate that our host was wearing a face mask, it was not being worn properly (the mask was not covering his nose, and it looked intentional). I kinda expected that proper wearing of face masks is something that the winery would be more meticulous about, as its not just for guest safety, but for employee safety as well.

Yelp
Of all the wineries I've been to, Piazza Del Dotto has quickly become one of my favorites. We were fortunate as we were able to get a same date tasting appointment. Pro tip: BOOK AHEAD. Regular tastings in the caves are $75. While this may seem like a lot, it really isn't. We tasted about 8 different wines from barrels in the caves. The tour/tasting lasts a good 1.5-2 hours. At the end of your tour, you head back to the estate for a full spread of charcuterie, pizza, and fresh garden salad. There were tasted 2-3 mores varieties of wine. Del Dotto is known for the Beauty and Beast wines (they're both cabs) and it was fun to sample both and as well as different varieties and taste the difference from different oak barrels. Our guide Chris absolutely amazing and highly recommend setting up a tour with him!
