Housed in a former convenience store, Piazza's Bakery does all its work in their large workspace and ovens in the back room. A large tray of yeast glazed pretzel twist donuts was coming out, and I immediately pointed to it, saying, "I want some of those!"
Great choice, because they were terrific - light, airy, mildly yeasty and, oh, so, perfectly glazed. Very reminiscent of Crispy Kremes classics, but bigger. The brownies were just as impressive with a layer of chocolate icing above dense chewy choco base. Their croissants were also good, but not as flaky as a French boulangerie would create.
Their were plenty of cookies, fruit pies and customized celebratory cakes that looked great, but were beyond the limits of my sweet tooth. Didn't see much in the way of bread or rolls while there, but that could have been a question of timing.
Piazza's is worth another visit.
