First time at Picantes in a long time. Had the beef enchiladas lunch with rice and beans; chips and queso with taco meat. Everything tasted great and was well prepared! Will come back again.

I went for a Monday morning breakfast. It was my first time at this establishment, and what a great time to eat breakfast. No wait time to dine-in. My waitress always made sure I had fresh tortillas, that my drink was always topped off, and finally, that I had plenty of chips and salsa. She was great! The food came out rapidly. I waited around 4 minutes for the food to come out hot and freshly made. If you're in the mood for an awesome Mexican breakfast, this is the spot to go. You won't be disappointed. When visiting Lubbock, this place will be on my list of places to eat breakfast.

This place is amazing. The food is so delicious. Our waiter was extremely kind and attentive. The taco bowels were the best we've had. Ignore any bad reviews, this place is wonderful! BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN LUBBOCK! ❤️

I take my street tacos quite seriously. I ordered x9 tacos, or 3 orders of tacos for $7.99/3 (already expensive) to go. I ordered x6 al pastor and x3 carne asada TO GO. For starters, the green salsa is pretty darn good. The red salsa tastes like it's colored with bbq sauce. I asked for corn tortillas for all tacos. I received flour for all tacos instead. I asked for extra limes, she told me they only have lemons. When I got home and opened the box, there was a mixture of limes and lemons in the box. Why couldn't I get extra limes? The carne asada was just ground beef. It wasn't carne asada, it was just salted ground beef. The Al pastor wasn't marinated, it was just colored red. If it was marinated, then they were in a rush. I asked for fully loaded tacos, which means it comes with onions and cilantro, (there al pastor does not come with pineapple) and there were about 2 flakes of cilantro per taco. I asked for x5 grilled jalapenos on the side, they got that right and didn't charge me, but they charged me 40¢ per extra salsa, and they only give you 4 salsas when you order 9 tacos! Admittedly, there salsas come in the 2oz cups, not those baby tiny tiny cups. Staff seemed nice, but it's obvious the lady who took my order thought she knew better than me of what I wanted when I asked for corn tortillas and she wasn't aware that her restaurant serves BOTH LEMONS AND LIMES. Above this, my tacos were squeezed inside of tin foil like a sack of sand to save space, they managed to fit all 9 of my tacos inside one regular to go box. Altogether, instead of coming back for their street tacos, I would elect to try another restaurant. 4/10 PHOTOS: #1 There are 9 tacos in the one box #2 there are 3 tacos in that little foil #3 there are lemons and limes

Fast fresh friendly and clean. This place top notch for breakfast burritos they are HUGE! Order a double bacon, egg cheese with bean and potatoes and it’ll change your life! Worth every dollar and they’re the size of a small baby ! 🤣 Call in for an even quicker pick up

My daughter and ordered some caldo from here and I am very disappointed there was a dead bug in it 😭

Consistency is key with this company. Me and my crew eat here on a regular basis. Not one time has there been a situation where we said we didn’t like what we got. Every time it’s excellent food and at a great price. I would recommend this place to anybody asking where a great Mexican restaurant in Lubbock, Texas is.

I decided to give Picantes a try for the first time yesterday. To say i'm blown away is an understatement! The menudo was 10/10, great flavor, HOT, and lots of hominy!! I tried the breakfast gorditas 10/10 also! The salsa/hot sauce they give you with you food was also soo good. This will definitely be my new favorite place to go to! I ordered this food to go in store & it was ready in less than 15 minutes and i had a pretty big order!

Just found this quaint little gem of tex mex hidden over on 34th. The food was really good. Prices very nice. Great ambience, Mexican music in the background was not overwhelming. The staff was welcoming. I tried the Picante sampler. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and expect to return to try other menu items. I recommend this place.

The food is pretty good for the price. Very cheap for large portions. That being said you obviously aren't getting great authentic Mexican food you are getting pretty good Tex Mex. For the price I'll rate it 5/5 all day. Service is fast but they won't put up with bs. If you experience attitude it's probably because of you. Ive seen their attitudes change real fast based on how nice you are to them. Vibe is what you would expect from a place you're getting a $4 burrito from. It's a little dingy. I'm not taking anyone on a date here but I'm still showing up every Sunday when I'm hungry and hungover.

I would say three and a half stars. The staff is very responsive and the food is ready pronto. We ordered takeout and it was ready before we could even arrive for pick up. The quality is consistent and good. This time I had beef fajitas and they were good. They have 2 types of queso, yellow and orange, the orange is a bit spicy for my taste. Enjoy!

So good had to take it to go! The burritos are HUGE. I order the burrito grande special with Al pastor and topped with Queso. We also got Queso with our chips and conpletely devoured. The lady serving us was very friendly , I'm glad she's back! 10/10 will be coming back.

My wife and I love this place. It is our go to for Tex Mex in town. The only thing I've ever had that was less than great was to go fajitas. Probably steamed in the container and overcooked before we got it home. Carnitas, barbacoa, al pastor are all delicious. The serving sizes are just enough to fill me up with being miserable. The staff and service has always been excellent. Food is prepared quickly and accurately. We are checked on regularly and our drinks refilled if needed. I will continue to come back. I can't wait to try the breakfast options.

I recommend the beef quesadillas with casó. They cooked the food well and quickly I was especially impressed by Melinda's service she had a warm smile and accommodating. (Hope I spelt her name correctly).

Ordered takeout for dinner. Unfortunately it was the evening of storms and bad flooding. When our driver who was picking up finally made it to the restaurant, someone else had taken our order! Thankfully Picantes took care of us, remade the order, and had him quickly on his way. I ordered a Breakfast Quesadilla (pro tip - Picantes serves their breakfast all day) and the combo eggs, bacon, cheese in the quesadilla with salsa and sour cream was just right. I'm not sure if I received the normal portion on the Quesadilla but it was a lot! I have plenty left over for lunch tomorrow! We also ordered a Queso to split (they do not give chips with queso so we also ordered the chips & salsa, a curious custom but good to know when ordering). Queso was quite good!

I came for a breakfast burrito. It's cooked fresh, but nothing special. The tortilla is large, fresh, but not homemade. It's fine. What is nice about this place is all you can eat Menudo, which is DELICIOUS. There are better burritos, these are average. The Menudo is top shelf, and looking at several of the plates coming out, lots of their food looks great. I'll be back, and I hope that they start making their own tortillas soon.

My youngest daughter went to eat at this place hoping to make it a special day by ordering Menudo, when her Menudo arrived it she noticed that it wasn't as appealing as it looked on the menu,When she ate a little it just wasn't good at all so she told the staff and they began asking her questions as if she was being eneragated by the police asking her why she didn't like it and raising an unnecessary amount of embarrassment to her and all her friends instead of asking would you like something else,So if you decide to eat here come prepared with a layer because you may not make it out alive.What a bad experience of hoping to eat something good barely having enough just to choose a place just to be treated unfairly rather than to make the customer feel proud of having chosen the spot that would generate business by word of mouth telling friends and family what a great experience they had generating business but instead to be shot down by a rubber bullet.

This review is solely based off of their breakfast burrito! I've tried a ridiculous amount of places here searching for a good breakfast taco and this place is the best in regards to the price for the portion size! I loved that the tortilla was actually heated on the grill. Good ratio of meat and egg. $4.50 for one bacon, egg, and cheese burrito! It's not the best breakfast burrito I've ever had, but it's the better option considering we're in Lubbock. Kinda resembles Fuzzy's taco shop in terms of flavor. All of the staff were friendly! Food came out fast! There isn't a drive thru, but it's a quick process for a good price.

This is my favorite place for Mexican food. The service is super hit or miss, like really no consistency there. But honestly, the food makes up for it. I love the white queso!

The food is good. I learned how to make rice here Jaime taught me. Soco is the one that does almost all of the cooking. Ask him to make the enchiladas one red one white & one green it looks really pretty on the plate. Leticia makes really good Aguas Frescas pepino y limon she makes it homemade & it's really good. Teddi Perez and I worked here together.

They're racist as heck. I placed an online order for MYSELF. God forbid I just get to pick it up. Two people in front of me picked up their orders and didn't have to have proof it was theirs but I do? Funny how the Hispanics don't need proof but the white lady did.

Very good breakfast. Huevos rancheros are spicy and flavorful. Beans have that old Mexican taste, great . We eat there once a week. Tomorrow is my day to go and I am excited

Not what I expected. I ordered a standard item that every Mexican place provides here in Lubbock. Very odd, must of been the cook. Also being assisted for call in order pickup at the restaurant was not easy at all.

Food was delicious and our server was great being that it was her first day serving and her first day on the job. There's a Spicy cheese queso that's not on the menu but I have to get it every time I go in. It's worth it.

Service n food was trash wt flies everywhere.. I saw rat droppings when I went to the bathroom and owner kept staring at my underage daughter.. I would never recommend this place to anyone.. stay clear n away

Listen, I LOVE THIS PLACE and the owner or manager is wonderful. But these past couple times I have gone have been terrible. I've ordered off of DoorDash and gone in person, when we ordered in person we did an over the phone order, I guess the worker didn't understand what my boyfriend was saying so she hung up the phone on him, twice. We were never rude and went inside and placed our order and everything was fine. On DoorDash tho our order was wrong twice. This time I ordered an extra guacamole (I don't mind the extra charge but they only randomly started charging for extra) and a smaller container than what normally comes was in the bag. Also smothered in tomatoes which has never happened and the rice (which normally isn't great made with frozen peas and carrots) was sooo so dry. Also there was a hair in my food!!! I didn't eat any of it. The time before my boyfriend's breakfast burrito was missing bacon and potatoes. I leave this review with hope that this place improves because it has only gone downhill.

I want to start by saying that my husband and I think this is the BEST place in town to have a breakfast burrito! The burritos are a great size so one is plenty to fill me up. I ordered a sausage, bacon, egg and cheese burrito smothered in queso, it was delicious!

We came for breakfast and sat down. Our waitress promptly greeted us and took our drink orders. The dining area is roomy but the booths are not large. The four of us fit just fine but there wasn't a lot of "elbow" room. We will probably ask for a table next time. We ordered the breakfast burritos and the Plato de Huevos. Our waitress was great in helping us decide what to order and she was prompt with coffee and drink refills. The food arrived in a timely manner and tasted very good. Overall our experience at Picantes was great.

Here first time. Inexpensive for what you get. This food is very uninspired. My enchiladas were mediocre. Shells were not toasted, no melted cheese and the sour cream sauce was bland. The wife's ground beef on her taco salad was bland as well. Did like the Mexican rice and the salsa was good. If you like very plain food maybe this place is for you.

Excellent traditional Mexican food. Great value for price. Three Tostadas for $6.99 and they were delish!!

Uninspired...the taco salad was bland, no seasonings on the ground beef. The server was very pleasant and attentive. With all the TexMex restaurants in town, Picantes needs to up their game

Picantes is a great place for breakfast with a Mexican food twist. I have had several different plates, but my favorite is the breakfast bacon, egg, potato, and cheese burrito. It is loaded in a homemade tortilla.

I would highly recommend this restaurant the food is very delicious and very affordable and you will leave very stuffed and the employees are super friendly been coming here since it first opened go try it out

I forgot a picture, but this is a move. We ate breakfast here and I was very pleased. The breakfast taco was big! It filled the plate and was very nicely priced. For a taco with 5 ingredients it was like 4.20 total. We also got chips and salsa. The salsa was very good. Not too hot, but good flavor. The chips came out hot. The food was out super fast too. Less than 10 minutes. Try it out!

We order through grub hub. And we selected to send utensils because we are at work. We get our order no tortillas with the fajitas flavorless tough meat and the beans and rice were terrible. And of course they didn't even send the Utensils. Luckily I ordered the week old chips and tomato paste to gag this down with. Huge waste of $42.00 I should have just starved! Never again!

We went to this place on Sunday after church. We used to love this place. I ordered the carne guisada plate as I always had before. When the young waitresses who weren't very friendly, looked confused and would barely say a word, brought our orders, the plates did not look at all appealing as before. My carne guisada looked like dry pork meat. When I told them what I ordered, the waitresses began to argue and tell me that is exactly what I ordered. When the cook was called, he said the same, that it was carne guisada and that they have never, ever made their plate with gravy. That was a lie because that was my usual order. The picture on the menu, which had CG gravy looked nothing like my actual plate.. He kindly disagreed several times and said he would make me something else. I will not be going back. It's a shame because this is one place we loved so much.

Always so nice, sweet tea is delicious every. single. time. Breakfast Gorditas are to die for. This is my favorite place, I cannot recommend it enough!

The parking lot is VERY limited. But you can manage to get in and out. There's was no wait to be seated. We were a party of two and came for breakfast. I had a build it yourself burrito, and my girlfriend had the menudo. The burritos was a great size, and the menduo was great! You can walk in and seat yourself. It's not anything fancy, it's very casual and laid back. The food portions are a good size, and the price is one you can't argue with. The food it great and very flavorful. The only complaint is that almost if not all of the workers just had a bad attitude. Like they did not want to be there.

Awesome food! Very authentic and seasoned well! Staff is very friendly! I wasn't sure what to get when I was ordering and the lady behind the counter suggested some great options.

Went for lunch. Got 2 tacos and a chalupa. They are not skimpy on the meat. It was a full taco and chalupa. Will be going back ASAP. The only reason for not the fifth star is because the waitress never came back after giving us our food. The owner was talking to a guest and noticed we were looking for our waitress and he came over and got us refills. That was good. They weren't understaffed so I didn't understand why. But still, I'll be back.

Worst Mexican food I've ever had. Unseasoned hamburger covered with squeeze cheese. Stay away!

This might be my new favorite restaurant in Lubbock it is just a mom and pop shop nothing fancy but you can tell that they love their restaurant and care about it the food is absolutely delicious the chips are amazing the salsa is the best salsa I've had and I ordered the chili Riano and my wife ordered enchiladas! The entire meal was absolutely amazing!

TL;DR: breakfast burritos are the bomb. Eat them So I haven't been to Picantes in a few years and wasn't really sure if I liked it or not, but now I know I FOR SURE love it. I went for breakfast burritos this morning and they were so dope! They legit tasted homemade. The tortilla was soft and didn't taste like it came from Walmart. The eggs and sausage were perfect. The salsa was delicious as well. The staff was super friendly and made the visit just that more enjoyable. I will definitely be making Picantes a part of my weekly food stops! Keep it up!

Did an online order tonight . Got the email confirmation. Went to the restaurant & was told they didn't have my order . Showed my confirmation email & they still argued that they didn't get my order. Showed them my bank account was charged . They agree to make my order. A few minutes goes by & someone else comes to talk to me . Says they didn't get the order I made on their website . Finally get my food . Not up to the standard I am used to at picantes . Order was incorrect - even though they repeated it to me . Sad to be treated like a scammer at one of my favorites!

How hard is it to not put eggs on a burrito, like every single time I try this place they get my order wrong, and they will blame you for their mistakes, never spending anymore money with this business again. Terrible customer service, awful food. I don't understand the hype, if someone is allergic to something maybe take it more seriously

Picantes..... well they brought out the chips and salsa needs a little picante, nonetheless, it was ok. I did order a homemade peach drink that was really good. I did order the Chile Colorado, really good and they put the picante in it! They refilled my drink without an extra charge which was a pleasant surprise. I will give it 3.5 stars l

My wife and I used to eat here weekly, and the only reason we've stopped is to branch out to try new things. Still though, any time we're in the mood for some fast, reasonably priced, delicious, high quality Mexican food, Picantes is our go-to. Their breakfast burritos are amazing, and we looove their carne asada. Staff is also super nice.
