With a Chicanx modern aesthetic and spectacular view of the dtla skyscrapers, you might think you have unintentionally became an extra for a up and coming Hollywood feature film.
Oh, I didn't even tell you about the coffee and food! It seems like it's rare to find a cafe that serves cafe de olla (let alone a batch with warm aroma of cinnamon with a hint of orange), but look no further because not only can you get drip cafe de olla but a latte version, too. (Yes, alternative milks are available and plenty.) Before you leave, do yourself the favor and order the chilaquiles with salsa rojo. It's just as divine as the cafecitos!
After finding street parking and ordering inside, I would recommend eating in so you get the best view of dtla while chances are you are bound to run into LA art royalty. Yes, I said it! That beautiful artwork hanging on the walls are made by local artists with some who are internationally well-known, like Ernesto Yerena Montejano. Performance artist Rafa Esparza frequents Piscaresca, too, and why wouldn't you be a regular there? It quickly became the hottest new coffee spot in the East LA area.
Personally, I'm sooo happy it's a Latinx-owned cafe that is for and by the people. Piscaresca centers community by hosting multi-generational community events, like poetry night, every season with more on the way. It's the place to be and for good reason.
