The Lost Spirits Distillery Chef With Big Ideas Is Debuting a New Sky-High Dinner Experience | Eater Vegas

"Opened in 1998 by Chef Julian Serrano, this storied fine-dining restaurant operated for 25 years before closing on August 17 when the chef retired and stepped away from his other ventures. It was the city's first restaurant to receive a James Beard Award nomination for Best New Restaurant and one of only two local establishments to earn two Michelin stars, and it is widely credited with helping elevate the city's dining profile." - Janna Karel

I just left the salon with bleeding fingers and this is the worst manicure I’ve ever had in my entire life. This place is not professional to say the least. The manager is rude, the staff is not trained. This place is a waste of time and money.

Talia J.

Google
Got gel mani and regular pedicure and was overall not a good experience. They did hands and feet at the same time which was very uncomfortable, picked incessantly at the cuticle/nail bed so now the skin surrounding my nails looks irritated, poor nail shaping (especially on the feet), uneven polish. Nails just look messy.

Google
Right as I took these pictures after getting my manicure, I felt bad for them for the finished job that I received. The finished job was lackluster. The people were nice and sweet. I don’t intend to deter future customers through this pictures but this is not the outcome of my own doing, this is the outcome they gave me. I hope they don’t continue settling for a finished job like this and try for better results. Hopefully they can improve the finish job of their gel nails and that way have more returning customers. I’m sure not all customers have had their nail jobs look like this but this was my experience.

Latoya T.

Google
If you have the right skin color they will attend to you perfectly. I had a Groupon for a mani-pedi and was jumped over appointment wise due to the staff catering to Caucasian people. It’s was really disturbing to sit in location for almost 20 minutes with no professionalism or courtesy. Although I paid for the Groupon and a meter to get to location. I left establishment and won’t ever go back to it.

Rachel L.

Google
Possibly the worst gel manicure ever. Nails are bumpy. The shape is so weird, they didn’t use any kind of creams

Google
I had a discount groupon and it definitely shows. Overall a bad experience, I felt like it was their first time doing a manicure. For sure not professional. I felt uncomfortable for most of the time, would not recommebd

Google
Went for manicure and pedicure as it is close to work.. staff were nice and friendly Very accomodating. Might come back again in this small salon.

Google
The women were sweet although I couldn’t understand their questions, they didn’t understand my answers and I ended up with impossibly short nails… and they were already miserably short when I walked in. They weren’t really focused and when you’re using metal scrapers on soft bits of flesh it often was painful and stung when various solutions were applied. My cuticles are messy and the polish pooled around the cuticles… not terrible but not good. I won’t go back.

Yelp
I came here on a Groupon deal for a regular manicure and pedicure for $28. I also got an extra service for callus removal for $10 more but it was not good. I still had rough heels after the service. Also, service was really slow and don't know if the utensils were clean because the lady who handled my hands kept grabbing utensils from different areas in the drawers and from her side. Don't know if the utensil from the drawer is sterilized. The paint job on my right thumb was botched and was not consistently even. The pedicure was in a tub without the plastic bags that you see in other nail salons so I just kept on worrying about the sanitary and hygienic issues if this place.

Yelp
I choose this business based on its pricing for a simple pedicure (no frills) because I'm going on a cruise. I arrived an hour before my appointment and it didn't present a problem. It was quiet. The staff while servicing each customer didn't engage in conversations with each other or the customers. I prefer this type of service. I was pleased with this business and will use them again.

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I was in town visiting family for Christmas and needed a dip powder manicure. From the jump, color options were very limited. It got worse from there. Before I even left the salon, the top coat of my mani was pilling. I asked her to fix it and she just put another layer of top coat on top of the debris, rather than wiping it off or filing it down to try again. The very next day, I noticed that it was already lifting and that a few of the nails already chipped! I do dip manicures back home that last on average about 3 weeks. I went back today to complain and ask for my money back, since I had to make the train back home tonight and wouldn't have time to redo my manicure. The women were rude and impatient. They gave me two options - get half of the money back, which mind you, cost me $70, or store credit, which between my not living here and the horrific quality of service, I would not come back. Don't waste your time here.

Yelp
I don't like this small place because the chairs are hard with no massage function. It can't even be adjusted to lie down a little. The person did my nails can't communicate in English. Skills are just so so. Don't know how to massage at all. Wasted money. It's hilarious I purchased a Groupon but more expensive than walk in price.

Alanna O.

Yelp
This was truly horrific and disturbing. My brazilian bikini wax was filthy and more importantly, dangerous. Completely unhygienic. 1) the person waxing did not wash her hands, nor did she use gloves after being at the cash register helping people check out moments before waxing me. 2) she used the same stick on me repeatedly, which is unsanitary. She is putting something that was on me straight back into the communal wax. Completely unsanitary, and again, dangerous and can lead to infection 3) When I got into the room, the lady didn't step out to let me change, nor did she close the door. when I asked her to close the door, she said 'no one is going to come over here.' 4) it was filthy, everywhere. she used toilet paper on me rather than cotton pads. there was dirt on the waxing material that I took photos of and she left wax strips in a trashcan that was left ajar from previous customers. 5) the staff was incredibly rude. this place needs to be reported.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Came in- 3 women working there 2 of which did not speak any English. Overall felt unfriendly. I waited for them to start while someone came in after and was attended to. I didnt get the feeling the women painting my nails was trained well. She gave me 3 coats and she did not need to. With 3 coats you are highly likely going to chip you nails bc it stays wet. Most places do 2 and thats adequate. We got close to being done and her nail hit mine nicking my nail. She was so annoyed she had to re do it. Then when I was drying my nails I nicked mine but like I said 3 coats is too much. I turned around and was attempting to tell one of the women (the one who seemed in charge). She completely ignored me. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! Don't waste your time or money.

Yelp
The best for me the pedicure lady is excellent. But all her staff are polite and do a very good work. Will recommend the is place

Yelp
The service was decent to start with, but it was all downhill from there. They had me pay prior to service, which I thought was the status quo, and more than the listed service. I noticed afterwards that subsequent customers (older white women) were not asked to pay until afterwards. This was incredibly insulting and implied that I would just run out right after or something. More minor point is they gave the other women shoulder rubs and massages during their manicures. This was never offered to me. If this is age-ist or racist, it was clear that they gave a higher quality job based on some discriminating criteria. You shouldn't treat your clients differently based on their appearance. The end result was also lackluster with cut up cuticles and bubbles in the resulting work. I'll probably need to get these redone, but definitely not here.

Robin E.

Yelp
This salon posts in the window a price of $35 for a manicure and pedicure from Monday through Wednesday with tax included. I was charged $39 today, a Wednesday and when I complained, I was told that the extra $4.00 was for tax, despite the window saying tax was included. I have photos of the prices in the window. I will never use them again due to their misrepresentations.

Eris S.

Yelp
I love this place. I have tried the pricier nail salons in the immediate area and Picasso Nails delivers much better value and service. The place is clean and all the employees are polite, courteous, respectful, and most importantly, excellent technicians. Other places do a bad job on filing or are too aggressive with cuticle maintenance. Picasso Nails does an excellent job on all fronts. I would recommend this place to anyone needing a professional manicure. Plus they have the full range of Essie and Opi colors and they're fresh.

Yelp
Great, quality service. Zero wait. A lot of attention to detail. The 10 minute back massage was the highlight. Twelve bucks was worth every dime. My nails and toes look great. I was happy they didn't rush me and spent so much time striving towards perfection. The *only* small issue is that the peppermint pedicure doesn't really feel tingly or smell like peppermint. But it was still a great pedicure. Everyone there is friendly and the shop is very clean.

Yelp
This was a mixed bag experience. I had only a pedicure at Picasso Nails so this review is not inclusive of their manicures. The pedicure chairs were so so. They seemed old and in need of an update. The 10 minute massage was good, but the pedicure chipped within 3 days. It was also a bit on the pricey side. Not sure if I would come back.

Amy R.

Yelp
Went here to get dip on my nails and left with several painful cuts on my cuticles. They don't even use the electric nail drill machine just a plain file. Clearly didn't know when to stop. My cuticles were extremely raw. I asked for a sharp square shape and half of them turned out rounded. They only 10 color choices for dip. I should have known at that point. Do not recommend at all. Would give 0 starts if possible.

Yelp
My nail salon went out of business due to covid so on a whim I tried this place. My toenails look great, everyone was very nice and this is a women owned business which I enjoy supporting. Great experience all around.

Yelp
All of the nail techs are so sweet and work really well as a team. I work nearby so it's a great option for me.

Yelp
Yes enjoy my Pedi... Wonderful atmosphere real relaxing and the lady who did my feet was nice and very helpful

Yelp
AWFUL. I don't usually leave reviews but I'm just here to warn you guys to not waste your money and go elsewhere. For starters, the whole time I was receiving my pedicure and gel manicure the woman kept trying to sell me other stuff and no matter how many times I said no she was insistent that I needed a 10 minutes calf massage or 10 minute hand massage.. no thanks. Otherwise the constant sales act the experience itself was fine. The place isn't the cleanest but it's what you get when you pay $26 for a pedi and $29 for gel manicure. My problem with this place is what happened when I left. 2 days after my gel manicure, my polish started to pick up and bubble on both my left thumb and right index finger. I went back in when the thumb polish completely peeled off & after the owner hesitated to believe me, she finally agreed to repaint my thumb nail. About a day later my index finger started to peel off completely and my pedicure started to chip off. It's been 5 days and my pedicure is almost completely gone. I'm not a person who does hard labor for work, there is no reason a gel mani & pedi shouldn't be able to withstand typing on a computer during the day. I will not be returning to Picasso Nails. Yes, the prices seem appealing but the polish doesn't last... not worth it at all.

Yelp
Honestly best nail place I've ever been to. Took a long time, but their quality of work was impeccable. Live in LA and still haven't been able to find a place like this!
google avatar

Anjali J.

Yelp
Can I give it ZERO? This place truly sucks. I was the first one there this morning, they opened at 10 and I was there at 10:25 and they still hasn't set up the shop. The women were extremely rude, no greeting. I did a mani/pedi and the woman doing my pedicure seemed to be pissed off every time she tapped my foot and I didn't move it. I even paid for the quick dry (which I think they lied to me) and my nails still smudged very soon after. This place needs to be shut down. They're overpriced for service and environment. Never going back again.
google avatar

Shannon C.

Yelp
The 2 staff members with whom I interacted were careless--didn't even help roll my pants back down after pedicure or assist in putting boots back on despite wet finger nails. Lazy, unfriendly attitude. When I asked for help, one staff member rolled her eyes at the other. Yuck.

Brat T.

Yelp
Overpriced for what you get. I stopped in for a quick polish change and Lucy worked fast to get me out and another lady ran upstairs to find me the color I asked for However, my nails didn't have that quality manicure look and may nails have a funky rotten egg smell even after I washed my hands a dozen times. The smell is offensive snd won't go away depart me trying to cover it up with another layer of top coat. Not sure if it's the polish but I'm feel slight burning in my eyes. Not sure what they use but I definitely won't be going back
google avatar

Katherine W.

Yelp
Stopped in for an impromptu pedi n mani. The lady who did my nails was so detail oriented. They looked fabulous when she finished. They also lasted almost 3 weeks on the mani and 6 weeks on the pedi. The sign of a great job. Besides that, they were nice people. I'll be back.
google avatar

Maia S.

Yelp
This review is solely for Margarita the manicurist I had. She was AMAZING! I'm very picking when it comes to manicures and she listened and did the job beautifully. She also did a great chair massage. $25 for a mani and 10 min chair massage.
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
I popped into this salon right before it closed and asked if they could squeeze me in for a pedicure. They happily hopped up to take care of me. The staff was very friendly and gave me a good pedicure and nice little neck massage as my nails dried despite me keeping them late. Good selection of essie colors too!
google avatar

Jen A.

Yelp
I love this place. It's owned by the people who do your nails and everyone is lovely. Although it's not fancy - it's spotless - and the pedicures are wonderful. I also appreciate how hard they work to keep the salon clean and the tools sanitized.
google avatar

Lo M.

Yelp
I've only been once, but had a pleasant mani/pedi and a delightful massage. Will definitely be back, especially considering the reasonable pricing.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I rarely do horrible reviews but let me tell you about my experience, NEVER ASK for Lucy - she was impatient, rude and was miserable. My gel nails look terrible and I was out there by 15 mins - fine like 20 ! UGH the job and experience was terrible, the owner seemed nice but overall WILL NEVER COME BACK.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
This place was horrible, they didn't get new tools (which every tool should be new and right out of the package every time). The lady who cut my nails cut them way too short, horrible paint job, not good service at all, very lazy people. The nail techs complained every time a new person walked in and were talking in Spanish about how they should have charged this girl more (obviously they thought this white girl doesn't know Spanish). Don't go to this place totally over priced for the crap service they provide.

Margaret D.

Yelp
$50 for the worst mani-pedi I've ever gotten. My cuticles were cut sloppily, I got my manicure buffed, no polish, and I've never seen my nails look worse. A complete waste of money. I get the feeling the place is not sterile, sloppily done, and very poor service. Would be recommend to my worse enemy. Sad!
google avatar

Waverly C.

Yelp
Without a doubt, this was one of the worst pedicures I've ever gotten. For $32 I got: a TERRIBLE paint job, no massage, and a broken chair. Totally disappointing experience from start to finish. Bad enough to finally convert me from a Yelp review reader to a Yelp review writer. At one point the girl removed the polish from one of my nails to repaint it and then began blowing on my toenail to dry the polish... Obviously this was unprofessional ... But also for some reason vaguely embarrassing. Not a fan. Hopefully this can spare someone a similar experience.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Went in for a gel manicure. The person who did my nails was one of the owners. Good attention to detail only I'm questioning how clean the tools were and he didn't soak my nails before hand making it kind of painful when he worked on my cuticles. Plus, the Polish wasn't painted to the cuticle, making it look like they were already growing in. I got a 10 min massage which was crap - all she did was stroke her hand down my back. They don't openly show their prices and then I was told how much to tip (20% rounded up)!! Not going back, for sure.
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
Cool spot. Affordable mani and pedi. Made me feel very welcomed.. definitely coming back

Carolyn W.

Yelp
Went to get a mani today and it was a wonderful experience. The owner is a very sweet lady who insisted on redoing my nails just from my ambivalent expression after seeing how the color looked on my hand. She helped me find another shade that looked beautiful on my skin. Very rare. This will be my go to nail salon from now on.

Catherine B.

Yelp
Walked in on a Friday afternoon, hardly a wait. Great selection of mostly Essie nail polish with some OPI, and they didn't look thinned out like other places. The women are all incredibly friendly and accommodating. No frills, but they did a great job and the polish has lasted now for a solid 5 days with no chips, which is great for a $12 mani in my book. Also have UV optional dryers. Definitely going back.

Rachel V.

Yelp
Don't even bother with this nail salon. For what they charge you for a manicure ($12), you're better off across the street at Serendipity nails. When I walked in, the lady kept peeking over my shoulder while I was trying to pick a color and kept rushing me to pick one. Like relax, there's no one else there. When I sat down at the chair, the same lady who kept rushing me to choose a color kept trying to sell me their massages. If I have to repeat myself more than once that I'm not interested, clearly I don't want it. Seriously horrible place with horrible service and horrible nail job. HIGHLY WOULDNT RECOMMEND IT

M B.

Yelp
Below average nail salon. The technicians weren't very friendly, the paint job was just meh and the chair massage sucked big time! Only positive thing I can say is that now my nails are painted and a pretty color. Won't be back.

Customer A.

Yelp
I will never step foot in this nail place again. They charged me $10 to take off my shellac polish and when I asked why they didn't tell me in advance of the charge they said because I didn't ask. The price was also not listed anywhere in the salon. I told the owner that I was very disappointed and she hardly cared that I was upset. Not even I am sorry I value your business. I will never give them another dollar.

Nicole Z.

Yelp
Wasn't impressed by the service here. The mani and pedi felt very rushed. They even mentioned 'we close at 8' and skipped the cuticle work. Nice colours but won't be back.

Janice W.

Yelp
The one star review just converted me from being just a reader to an active yelper because i strongly disagree with her. This place has been around for a long time but it was never on the top of my list of "to go" places. Recently I heard from one of my friends that the place was under new management and I decided to give it a try since it is so close to my apt. As soon as i walked in the place looked completely different from before, much cleaner and cuter. They use disposable files and buffers which helped bump this place to the top of my list!!! also, my nails are very frail and they break so easily and the girl there recommended a nail harder as the base coat and it did wonders to my nails! I'm so glad I gave this place a try!!!! :)
