Pickles

"This bright, industrial-style restaurant run by British chef Dominic Quirke is all about indulgence and bold flavours. He likes to come out of his kitchen and chat with diners (in English!) as the pop/rock soundtrack plays. Based in Nantes for the last 10 years, his delicious modern cuisine is inspired by his travels in Asia and his excursions into the surrounding countryside to visit organic market gardeners. His dishes include tourte de volaille au vin jaune (puff pastry chicken pie); Vendée pork with beetroot, kale and chard; and cauliflower, seaweed and kasha coulibiac with shiitake mushrooms. There's no shortage of vegetarian options either." - Michelin Inspector

"This centrally located eatery is always packed for both lunch and dinner—and with good reason. Here, British chef Dominic Quirke offers “neo-bistro cuisine,” mixing market-fresh produce and traditional French techniques with Asian, Italian, North African, and British Isles flavor. Rather than à la carte options, the restaurant offers two-, three-, and four-course menus at lunch and a six-course menu at dinner, with dishes changing weekly. All of this means that you can savor the Scottish langoustine with cucumbers, basil, and licorice, or the slow-cooked chicken with eggplant, carrots, and lemon, then return seven days later for an entirely new meal."

Fantastic lunch is served. We had the 4 course lunch, which offered very interesting tastes and flavours. We were especially impressed with the Korean and Japanese flavour which were employed in the French themed dishes. The place is children friendly and ths staffs are super helpful. We also had a chance to meet the charming chef.

Dining at Pickles in Nantes was an experience to remember! This restaurant truly stands out for its inventive approach to cuisine, blending traditional French techniques with Asian flavors in a way that is both surprising and delightful. The menu was carefully though of and is seafood-heavy (which I consider a plus!). Each plate was a work of art, with vibrant colors and textures that promised—and delivered—exceptional taste. The ambiance of Pickles is just as noteworthy. Its modern interior creates a perfect backdrop for a meal that feels both sophisticated and relaxed. What impressed me most was the price point. This place serves Michelin-level food and service without the air of snobbery. The staff were amazing and added to the experience with their warmth and professionalism, making us feel well looked after throughout our entire dining experience. Pickles is a must-visit in Nantes for anyone looking to enjoy innovative dining in a welcoming environment. An absolute degustation experience that leaves you eager to return back for more.

We loved our experience at Pickles from start to finish. We didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to fit us in. Theo, our waiter was excellent, and he helped explain all the meals in English for us. The ravioli with the chorizo was amazing with the black garlic. It was so flavorful. We each had the conchon which was also tasty. It was crispy on the outside and it was served over white beans that were in a lemon sauce, simply delicious. For our desserts, I had a dessert with a plum and plum sauce with a cardamom sauce and a meringue with pomegranate seeds, and it was just exquisite. My partner had an almond flavored dessert with roasted nuts on top. Later, the chef named Dominic came over and talked with us, which made the experience for us much more special. If you’re in Nantes and want a delicious and unique food experience, you should definitely try this restaurant. Oh, and the Chardonnay wine was delicious as well. It is a quiet and clean restaurant with a soothing vibe, unlike many of the restaurants in the historic area.

Now one of my favourite organic fine eateries in a quiet street of the city centre! Highly sought after, important to reserve a table ahead of time for lunch or dinner in this modern, minimalist yet comfortable restaurant. The chefs fine and innovative variety of fusion dishes (suitable for vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan and meat lovers) are guaranteed to tickle the palette and delight the senses. The house offers a very extensive, carefully chosen wine list with a welcome focus on local and organic cepages to enhance flavours and the overall dining experience. The knowledgeable staff are happy to answer questions and propose wines to suitably accompany each dish. A truly extraordinary and delicious dining experience, I can only highly recommend reserving your table at Pickles to experience such delights!

Best food in Nantes.. farm to table galore.. the chef, a Brit who came to Nantes for the love of a woman, really shines!!! Food is tasty and well thought of, the craftsmanship in the kitchen shows and the chef will be out there with every dish to talk about it! Great experience all together. Make sure you book in advance!

We managed to get a lunchtime booking only a few days before going and seeing how busy it was I am very grateful we did. The food was amazing as was the service and ambiance. Highly recommend a visit here if you are able to get a booking.

We went to a couple of fancy restaurants in Nantes and decided this was our favourite. The flavours were all really good and not a bad price for a taster menu. The squid ink starter was 👌

Yelp
Pickles chef has a very unique menu with flavourful dishes. There is a set menu available for the lunch & dinner service. Book a reservation in advance. Great English speaking servers explaining each plate. They have local wines to ensure with the meal!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at Pickles during a business trip. The business partner I was visiting lives in Nantes, so he was prepared to take us to an authentic, fantastic restaurant, and Pickles delivered. Chef Dominic came out and explained each dish - the flavor profile, why he chose certain ingredients, where his inspiration came from, and more. He was a delight to speak with, but his food was even better. I had the vegetarian starter and main. The mushroom ravioli were divine. But the beet dish as my main was inventive and bright. The brownie at the end of the meal was utterly fantastic. All of this was paired with a local beer from Nantes, and everything played well on the tongue. I walked out super satiated - and happy to have experienced such an incredible lunch.

Yelp
We had lunch here walking through the area, and thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance. We decided to make a booking for dinner and were enthralled to see a new menu for the night, and with ingredients and a menu that was both experiential but also intriguing. We mixed our order to sample all that we could. The entrees were perfect. Smoked octopus with a subtle deco if beetroot and coulis and a raviolis of Fois gras and cauliflower. Great marriages. We finished with pigeon that was close to be best we have had, and the langoustines. Both had a great fusion with vegetables and little touches like crunchy buckwheat crumbles on the spring onions with the pigeons. We sampled the wine menu (good) and took the chocolate and the apricot desserts (perfect). This is an address to come back to, in a city we have never explored but will enjoy our return to.
