The 9 Best Restaurants & Bars In Los Alamos

"Pico is a solid dinner option if you’ve already been to Bell’s—or didn’t get in—and don’t feel like traversing the 101 for dinner. The farmhouse-like space is gigantic, with multiple levels, a front bar area, and a patio out back that’s great for big groups. Chairs are big and plushy, like having dinner at a fancy grandmother’s house. The American-ish menu changes frequently, but you can expect a kale salad or two, oversized loaves of cornbread, big plates of red meat, and a particularly decadent bacon cheeseburger. Also, get the ice cream. They make it in-house and use ingredients from the back garden. " - brant cox

We stopped by Pico for lunch following a bike ride. Needless to say, we were very hungry, so enjoyed our food before taking many photos! All was spectacular! Haley, our server recommended tasty beverages to pair perfectly with our food. Haley is so intuitive and quick to grasp what a customer would enjoy eating and drinking. We ended up ordering several dishes over the course of our meal - avocado crudo, french fries, burrata salad, hamburger, pork chop entree, dessert and drinks. They have indoor and outside patio seating. Pico is one of our favorite local restaurants owned by a lovely family.

I first read about Pico in the Qantas in-flight magazine about 8 years ago. It piqued my interest because I have family in Los Alamos. The food looked great and to say that the wine list is extensive would be an understatement. Finally made it last night and it was fantastic. Friendly south west American service, great ambience, delicious food and fabulous wine pairing. We tried the beets with burrata, steak tartare (can I just say the beef in these parts of the US is absolutely spectacular), rabbit carnitas tostadas, crispy cauliflower and the rib eye special with fingerling potatoes and arugula. All was delicious. We paired it with a Nebbiolo which like the meal was excellent. Reluctant to bring the evening to a close we also ordered the berry crisp with ice cream for dessert. First class food and service but with that warm Californian vibe. Will be back! Thanks for a great night! Be sure to add this to your Central Coast road trip plans!

This was one of the only restaurants open when the rest of the town was closed on a random Wednesday- and we were so happy with our experience. Something happened to our server so we ended up getting helped by someone who ordinarily does other work busing tables etc and he was AMAZING!! He definitely should be promoted to server. He was so attentive, always approaching with a big smile and all three of us adored him! He also knew all about the food and drinks and had great recommendations. All of the food was amazing- next level! It was so good we even grappled over it lol. Obviously be prepared to spend a lot for small portion sizes but this was expected given the type of restaurant it is. There’s indoor and outdoor seating with heating. Both are equally charming.

It has been several years since I’ve been to this restaurant and I still dream about the food I had here! It is THAT good! Such a great experience. I’m absolutely coming back if I’m ever in the area!

Google
Pico was one of the best, if not the best, dining experience. Our server Misty was so sweet and server assistant Danny was on top of everything. Chef John was an artist. He was also very attentive and accommodating to our diet restrictions. Also, wine expert Kase was very helpful with helping us find exactly what we were looking for. Thank you everyone for making our night so special!

Having been here before for dinner and enjoying our experience, we tried brunch on a warm late October Sunday. My wife had the mimosa that had watermelon juice replacing the orange juice (the juice used varies weekly) while I had a Michelada which for me a bit under spiced through tasted okay. For starters we ordered the cinnamon rolls which were straight from the oven and very tasty. My wife had the special for the day which was a brioche covered with smoked bacon, shallots, a cream sauce all which were very good. Others at our table had the Spanish tortilla which came with a salad and though it tasted good the portion of the tortilla was on the smaller size. I went for the steak and eggs and while the steak was very well seasoned and cooked perfectly the frites ended up as waffle fries which were okay. Service was good and we appreciated her cheerful personality. While nice to have another local option for brunch wouldn't be high on our list due to the pricing though we will continue to come for dinner.

Google
I would give 3 and a half if I can. The setting is absolutely beautiful, as the servers, Bulmaro was the sweetest server I had in my life. Good wine, drinks and atmosphere. Why 3.5 The appetizer was tiny; we chose "crudo tuna," which literally meant a spoon-sized piece of tuna wrapped with avocado, with excessive soy sauce. The meat was very good. And the dessert was the same: a cramble with a scoop of ice cream that you could eat anywhere. All I'm saying is, if your prices are going to be high, you have to live up to it.

Nate Wooding

Google
This place was solid- creative menu and good service. I will say the structure of the menu is a bit confusing- it's split up into three different sections (uno, dos, and tres). Uno and dos kind of both fall into the appetizer category- it just seems unnecessary. Big fan of how most of the plants out back are harvested and used in the food. The waitress was nice but she used my full name from the credit card receipt- kind of off putting.

Yelp
Pico is warm and welcoming, The bar area is large as you enter with adjacant high top seating. The vibe is great with warm wood tones and hundreds of wine bottles lining the walls. We stopped at the bar for pre dinner cocktails. They were expertly crafted by their mixologist. One in particular stood out. It was the lost limos, tequila, mescal with a ginger infusion. On our first night we met the manager Kace and sat on the patio with surrounding heaters (60). On the second night we sat in the front bar area in oversized incredibly comfortable lounge chairs. Carlos was our server. Our first night we ordered apps , salads and entrees that we all shared. West coast oysters, of course, the tuna special, cauliflower, avocado tuna and mushroom anulotti.. All were delicious!! For entrees we shared the big ass pork, Ribeye steak and a Hallibut special. One was better than the next. The service was exceptional. We were new to Santa Barbara Varietals and Kace offered delicious selections for each course and educated us about the region. A perfect night for us We contentedly walk our 1/2 mile to out VRBO and played cards. Note: The wines on the walls are labelled with prices. Those are the retail cost of the wine to take home with you. The wine list has the in restaurant prices with their margin/corkage fee included. Very Very highly recommended!! Addendum: The chef and her husband, Will Henry, own and operate the vineyard Lumen. We visited Lumen and enjoyed their wine experience. Slainte

Yelp
I wish I could give Pico a zero-star review. My family and I had one of the worst dining experiences we've ever endured here. We had a reservation at 6 PM, yet our food didn't arrive until almost 8 PM. The service was disorganized and frankly, unacceptable. First, the waitress assured us we could split our checks after consulting the manager--only for us to find out later that this wasn't possible. Several people in our party didn't receive their food at all, and I was informed just minutes before our meal finally arrived that the fish and chips I ordered were unavailable, forcing me to make a last-minute substitution. To make matters worse, there were no meaningful attempts to make up for the terrible experience. They only comped the items that never came, but nothing else was done to address the hours of delays, mix-ups, and general chaos. Not once did a manager check in with us, which is shocking given how poorly everything was handled. And as the final insult, the waitress gave herself a 20% gratuity via auto-tip. To say this was undeserved would be an understatement. Overall, Pico delivered an embarrassing and frustrating experience from start to finish. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save your time, money, and sanity and go anywhere else.

Yelp
Parking: plenty of street parking in this one road town Atmosphere: gorgeous interior and even better back patio (highly recommend trying to snag an outdoor table). Service: our waiters were terrific in every way Food: we shared a bunch of items tapas style and everything was delicious. There was a pasta with green sauce that was a particular hit. We even asked for extra sauce. Overall, I highly recommend making a stop by this restaurant if you're ever passing by.

Yelp
By far, the best restaurant in Los Alamos. The menu changes and is always consistently good. The chef and owner is so creative and a craft at her work. Great price point, amazing wine and absolutely delicious food.

Yelp
We came here to wait for a reservation next door. They have a very large selection of wines and since we couldn't decide, we end up doing their recommend flight along with some snacks. We had a ceviche and their daily special with a flaky white fish as a snack. Everything was good and highly recommend if you want to sit and chat with friends.

Yelp
Pico was amazing! The staff was warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the wine and food. The best meal we had in the area in a beautiful setting. The owner, Will, came by our table to chat and told us his wife is the head chef. The food was out of this world. Kudos to the chef and team!

Yelp
We had a spectacular meal here. The ambience is cozy and well designed and all the servers and runners helpful and cordial. The cocktails are wonderful. I enjoyed my old fashion which had a unique twist and would have ordered another if I hadn't been driving. The appetizers are incredibly innovative and wonderful . The crispy cauliflower the Burarata and the Avocado crudo with caviar were so great I thought I was at a Michelin restaurant. The bacon praline served in a mini cast iron pan with maple syrup was out of this world. I could have just had two or three of these and been totally satisfied. But since we were sharing we had to continue on to the mains. And I must say my line caught halibut from Gaviota was perfect on a bed of jasmine rice. My partner had the pork chop which was also terrific. All the ingredients are sourced locally which made the entire meal all the more special. Hands down the best restaurant in the Los Olivos/Los Alamos area.

Yelp
Very cute, very aesthetically pleasing. Overall a very wonderful concept. For the price of the food it was underwhelming. I see what they were trying to do but it just didn't add up to par. I work at a very high end restaurant myself and for the size, portion, flavors and overall taste it wasn't what I was hoping for. Crudo was not good; mushy and fishy. Yes I know what crudo is. Wedge salad, overpriced. Spanakopita was just philo dough with mixture in between like a sandwich. Bacon app was just eh. Best app was the beet salad. Lovely different beets with goat cheese and pistachios. Carlos who was the host was just lovely. He needs a raise. Service was just basic otherwise. I did appreciate the local discount you get on Thursdays. I might give this place one more try and then update my review. Strictly bcuz of Carlos and how beautiful of a place it is.

Yelp
Pico was a FABULOUS location for dinner with attentive service and delicious food. We came on the recommendation of another in town, and we were pleased to be seated for dinner without a reservation (it was winter). Next time, resy! The restaurant is casual but elegant - dark woods and soft light. They have interesting things to look at on the wall, a full bar and a great wine list. We ordered a bottle of a local gamay. We ordered an arrangement of small plates including duck carnitas, steak tatare, cauliflower and a kale Caesar. Each was among the best ever. It was so delicious that we went for dessert as well. That chocolate was INSANE! I will definitely come again next time I am in the area.

Yelp
Every time I walk past Pico or want to go eat at Pico I look at the menu.... Not even one thing sounds appealing and I leave. Every time I've been forcefully dragged or have had to eat there.... I get why people love it. After all of my sighs, eye rolls, grunts, and honesty toward my dinner mates "I'm always dramatic, I never want to eat here, and whenever I do it's amazing." Yes, it is amazing. Go roll your eyes to the back of your head like me, and then be in awe of how good it is. I went here for restaurant week. Check out these photos! Oysters, short ribs, dessert, and the beautiful cocktails that the ladies and I ordered. $40 dollars for the meal, cocktails not included, guys you have to go check this place out. Super wow. Sorry Pico, I don't know why I always judge. Ya got me again! everything was outstanding.

Yelp
Amazing dinner celebrating our 25th anniversary. Quaint historic restaurant in Los Alamos with amazing wine, fabulous food and wonderful service. Glad we took the drive on some kinda scary dark & windy roads- lol. We started with a gingery bubbly beverage, followed by a wine flight that paired perfectly with our food selections. We started with the avocado & tuna tartare (soooo good) followed by the cheese platter- which left us wanting more but then the beef tartare arrived which was so refreshing and just the perfect segue to the "big ass" pork chop and they were not exaggerating. It was one gigantic chop, meticulously cut and snuggled into a bed of perfectly cooked and seasoned beans. It was ample food for two, but I would have easily eaten a 2nd piece of cornbread. We ended the evening with more wine instead of dessert. This restaurant is a local favorite and we totally understand why. It's worth the trip.

Yelp
Unbelievable. The ambience is fantastic. The food is top notch. Case is on point with his wine knowledge if you're passing through or staying the night, you must come here. .

Yelp
Thursday was a slow night for Pico, but we were excited to drop by. The ambiance and decor is super modern and wine-country chic. We enjoyed our comfy chairs and felt transformed from the "mean streets" of Los Alamos into a high-end Santa Barbara-style exclusive eatery. Soothing and romantic; after all who wants to listen to the kitchen staff clinging pots/pans and yelling "Yes Chef!" like they do at Bells? But I digress... Service was quick and friendly, very knowledgeble about the menu and helpful to pair wine with food. We had an amazing creation called the Avocado Crudo that looked like a work of art. The melon salad was a nice addition. Then we moved to an interesting take on a spanakopita, and she had the delicious roasted beet and goat cheese plate. Beets are disappearing from menus these days, so that was a nice walk down memory lane. For entrees the homemade pasta special with creamy pesto sauce and shrimp was excellent. I had the Gaviota Fish. The entree flavors were not as bold as everything beforehand and that was a little disappointing, especially the coconut lemongrass sauce that came with the fish. The sauce seemed a bit watered-down and lacking in punch. I wanted my fish to be drowning in something creamier and bolder, but that's just me. Service was attentive, but if there was one issue is that the waitress was also the bartender, so it took time to get our drinks. Sign of times, I guess. Nonetheless, highly recommended. Yes chef!

Yelp

Yelp
We stopped by for some drinks. And we were not disappointed. Drinks are strong, tasty and do their job. Did get to try the food but I will definitely come back for that. They have a beautiful set up and it looks really fancy. Great service and were very kind.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim on our way to LA and couldn't have been more delighted! Beautiful aesthetic down to the last detail. They let us sit with our dog in their adorable courtyard. Our cocktails were incredible, food even more so. Everything was bright and fresh. I had tuna tartare expertly wrapped in avocado, and my husband loved his white anchovy dish. Service was attentive and friendly. We both agreed that we will absolutely return on our next trip!

Yelp
Among this quiet street and sleepy town was what my husband said was his favorite meal of his life. He had melon ceviche which was a special, he got it twice in one sitting- first without protein and second with. He got the mushroom pasta and I got the white fish with curry and rice. Everything was tasty! The back patio is so beautiful. Service was wonderful and friendly. I'm so glad we sat outside, inside is nice but a whole other vibe. Definitely going to be our dinner spot when we are back in town!

Yelp
Wow what amazing service at this five star restaurant in Los Alamos.we were up there for the weekend and had dinner here last Saturday night. The ambience in this p,ace is very nice, relaxing, and welcoming. We enjoyed many different cocktails and wine. We started with the roasted citrus olives. The burrata salad was also wonderful. We loved the fig tagliatelle, the pico burger, and the pork chop. The manager really cared about patrons and checked back with us after each course. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Had one of the best meals here. Beautiful interior, amazing wait staff, incredible food. The white sardines were a literal explosion of flavors. The bacon appetizer was equally as good. Beautiful wedge salad...not what you'd expect. For the mains we had steak and Agnolotti. If I had been home alone I would have licked the plate. For dessert, order the churros. I'm picky about them and they were perfect. Cannot wait to go back as so many other items on the menu looked great as well.

Yelp
My wife and I had made a dinner reservation here on Sunday, November 10th, following a local winery event. From the moment I walked in, the ambience, decor & lighting were outstanding - only to be matched by the ensuing food and service. Our server, Hailey, was engaging, knowledgeable of the menu & wines, and pleasant. We only ordered two appetizers (not realizing a full meal was being served at our prior event), but the Tuna Tartar & Steak Tartar were without reproach. We then had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Kali, who greeted us at our table. Equally engaging, informative & personable, our evening was excellent. It's not a matter of IF we return, but WHEN. Don't miss this dining experience.

Yelp
It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review (just check my Yelp history), but I was very disappointed in the food and service on 7/20/24. It was a Saturday, so we tried to make a reservation, but all that was available (using the online platform) was for 8:15 p.m. I scheduled it, but my friend and I decided we'd go in person and see if we could get a table earlier, and arrived at 6:00 p.m. There were at least 3 empty seats at the bar, and two high-top tables behind the hostess station that seated 4 each, and almost ALL the tables were empty. We were greeted by a young man who said he couldn't seat us as they were booked with large parties, but he'd get the hostess . The hostess said she couldn't seat us for that same reason, but she'd check with someone else, and brought over a third person. She and he discussed amongst themselves and then told us we could "wait" at the high-top tables and order a drink for now, that was it. My friend and I agreed. After 20 minutes or so (we had been served our crémant ) we were approached again by the bartender who asked if we wanted to order. We said yes, if we could, but had been told we were to "wait". He went and "checked with someone", came back, and said we could order. Great! We were famished and had been about to gulp our $18 bubbly just to run to Del Taco. We both ordered the exact same meal, the steak cooked same way, which came cooked properly, but with no sauce, just salt. The potatoes were underdone (at least mine were; I was so annoyed I didn't say anything to my friend or ask her how hers was), and the salad was just a pile of arugula with oil, vinegar and salt. This was in no way a $55 meal. The bartender who served us gave us good service. That's it. Will I go back? I will have to think long and hard about it. Oh, and while people did come in for their reservations, there absolutely was room for us to have been served, either at a table, or at the bar itself, instead of the narrow high-top table that WASN'T EVEN WIDE ENOUGH TO HOLD OUR DINNER PLATES PROPERLY-- they hung over the edge. Booooo to Pico!!!!

Yelp
We were staying in town in Los Alamos for the first time. There are only a few restaurants in the area and I had no idea what to expect when I walked in here. We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The cocktails were unique and they have a great wine list. I ordered the Apples and Honey cocktail which was good. I also ordered the Lumen library flight since I wanted to try some local wines. We had the burrata and the citrus crudo for appetizers which were really good. For an entree I ordered the Winter Risotto was very good. Our server Misty was great as well. If you're in the area this is a great place to have a good meal.

Yelp
Truly one of the best restaurants I have been to in a very long time! Location quite unusual Quiet town The restaurant is beautiful, Indoor/outdoor dining Excellent wine Full bar Food is Excellent! Ambiance is relaxing Wait staff is friendly and informative Will definitely return when we visit again!

Yelp
The event was a very informative and pleasant experience. I loved getting to know the wines from Spain and they paired very well with the amazing and locally sourced foods. The location was perfect for this event and the service was fantastic.

Yelp
I visited Pico for Santa Ynez Valley "Restaurant Week" on a whim, and was very pleasantly surprised despite my lack of planning! The vibe was elegant while still remaining casual (it would be a great dinner date spot!) Incredible service... everybody who helped me was extremely kind and attentive. The food was delicious. I had the chicken liver toast, gem salad, and pappardelle bolognese with a glass of Zinfandel. The manager even brought me over another red to try as a pairing with the meal... which was also delicious. Great experience. I'll definitely return!

Elle A.

Yelp
Chef's experience was amazing. Came in on a Sunday night and the intimate ambiance was perfect for special occasion dinner that allowed for questions and conversations with our attentive server Case. Kudos to him in particular as the wine pairings were exploratory for those of us who are open to allowing the magic to happen. Second kudos to accommodating a vegetarian. We walked away satisfied with the portion sizes, as meals this good are meant to be enjoyed slowly. Very thankful Chef also came to greet us. Thanks to everyone else who supports Pico. KISSES!

Amazing place , if you never been here you lost something big in your life . Food is very good , and the place is very nice and friendly

Yelp
Unlike the other restaurants in Los Alamos. I especially love this restaurant because of their fairly priced good food. Staff is very friendly. If we had more time, we could have tried their wine tasting service as I was satisfied with their mixed drink. Definitely recommending this restaurant if you are in the area.

Yelp
*** 4.5 stars *** We went to Pico during COVID so we experienced it as a take out restaurant, which I do not think is how it's intended to be experienced. Rounding up to 5 because I'm certain that if we had dined in it would have been a 5 star experience. That being said, we did wait for our food in the restaurant (which was stunning) and they gave us each a glass of delicious house red (award winning house red, that is) while we waited for our order (now that's what I call hospitality!). The portions seemed kind of small for the price when shoved into a to-go box, but I'm sure would have made sense if served on a proper dish. The clam chowder was to die for. All the ingredients were fresh, locally sourced and extremely high quality. The menu changes according to the seasons and what's fresh, which is how it should be!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food! Unique flavors& textures that aren't found on most menus. Impeccable service with perfect timing of the courses. The restaurant is a wonderful restoration of the antique space. This is a tasting meal don't expect hearty portions or the need for a "to-go" container.

Yelp
Tonight's experience came across as a tough night in the kitchen at Pico. We hosted some close friends from NYC who came to the Central Coast on their first trip outside of The Big Apple since The Wuhan Virus hit 13 months ago. A weekend celebration capped off by a night out at Pico. Table side service was excellent. George was engaging and attentive, and was comfortable and very familiar with the menu. The bar service was first class, and my vodka martini was mouth watering good. The rest of the dinner party were equally complimentary of their cocktails. The wine list? Stunning. Our starters were delicious. The stuffed avocado and crispy fried Brussels sprouts were lick-the-plate good! Regrettably, dinner was disappointing for me. I believe the problem occurred in the kitchen, as perhaps our order got lost in the shuffle?? I don't know. Our food took a while. The hostess (sommelier) stopped by at one point and informed us things were slow. Okay. Good to know. We're enjoying the evening, no problem. However, when the main courses finally came, 2 of the 4 meals were cold, notably the wagyu beef and the tostada. I stopped eating after one bite of the steak, and several bites of the tostada. When I told the hostess (sommelier) about my meal, she replied, "The tostada was meant to be cold." Really? And the Wagyu beef?? That response was mind boggling. To the staff's credit, we were offered a free dessert, a complimentary digestif, and even another entree, all of which we declined. Our friends who so graciously picked up the tab, noted that the wagyu was removed from the bill, as well as the corkage fee. This was much appreciated. Pico is a fine restaurant. I'm sure our next visit will reflect as much. Cheers! RS

Yelp
If you're looking for something different this is the place for you. There's something on the menu for everyone. We eat out a lot, and I was looking forward to coming here after reading the reviews and looking over the menu. Everything was as expected, except the portions. We ordered 10 items off the menu and every one of them was 1/2-1/4 the size one would expect. $400 later and I'm gonna stop at IN N OUT and grab a burger on the way home.

Yelp
Pico, you were so cute inside & the ambience was so cozy and inviting....I wanted to love the food too, but sadly it fell short of the mark. So, five big stars for ambience and the bar & cocktails but the food does not live up to that same standard. We started with their bada bing whiskey cocktail, which was light refreshing and well crafted. Soo good I had two. Next up was a very tasty and tender green salad. For mains we had their burger served with waffle fries & the steak frites. The burger was OK ( patty was small ) and the waffle fries were a little undercooked & not hot enough. The steak frite is where they lost me.,while it was a fairly tender Bavette cut but the sauce they served with it was extremely spicy and overpowering and inappropriate in my opinion for the flavor profile. Also, seriously, you serve prefab waffle cut fries with this steak instead of crispy, thin garlicky Frites? Sorry that's just the lazy man version! Service was good, but I won't be back unless the food game improves. You can do better Pico!

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Pico, which has a comprehensive list of appetizers, small dishes, and main courses. The wine menu is extensive, and there are selections for everyone. While I did not try the cocktails, I would be back. Ok, onto the food.. oh the cornbread. I really could eat that all day. With berries for breakfast, with ham for lunch, and on its own with dinner. Or dessert. Seriously, its good. The texture has the right softness and some grit from the cornmeal used. The flavor is lightly sweetened with honey but the corn meal used and the flavor of corn shines through. I was very tempted to order a second loaf for the table, but I showed restraint. We also had the little gem salad, which, in and of itself is a gem of flavor through simplicity. Its non fussy, lettuce, raddish, and vinaigrette. The treatment of proteins here for main courses is excellent. Then for dessert we had an apple crumble that wasn't a standard preparation of the dish. The flavor of apples was able to shine through compared to butter and spice. The crumble also gave an excellent textural contrast. Given the spaciousness of Pico, friendly service, and the menu, I would go back if ever in Los Alamos.

Yelp
Spent last night in Los Alamos and decided to dine at Pico again. Why? Because three weeks ago I had a lovely dinner, knew that I was 100% guaranteed an equally amazing experience again. The amuse bouche last night were cucumber pickles. Sounds ordinaire? Yup. Well folks these were the best pickle slices I've ever had. When they asked me if I wanted more I immediately replied YES. Here is what I had; YUZU VESPER 14. cucumber yuzu infused vodka, gin black pepper vin, togarashi Unf--king believable! The cocktail gods delivered something amazing. I typically avoid drinks with pepper, not the best with spice. However? This cocktail was amazing and then some. Yeah - I had a few. And when I return I will request this libation again. WILD PRAWN COCKTAIL 19. sustainably caught shrimp, house-made cocktail sauce BEST shrimp cocktail I have EVER HAD. DONE! Shrimp were cleaned properly, fresh, correct temperature. Lemon slices were flawless. Cocktail sauce? OMG. They should package it and sell it. The only mistake I made is that I should have had a second one. $19. is expensive - sure it is. But for the best shrimp cocktail of your life it is a steal. CRISPY VIET BRUSSELS 16. garden herbs, carrot, red onion, chilis, fried shallot, coconut chili lime agrodolce. WOW! Amazing flavor and texture. Huge bowl of the best brussels sprouts you may ever experience. If you love brussels sprouts like I do you must try these. Love that they gave me a mini pitcher of the sauce to add more. Again I had a lovely dinner in a peaceful environment with my dog Carlton. The staff here went above and beyond. These folks are in a 3-way tie for best service in Los Alamos. I promise to return often!

Yelp
Thanksgiving Dinner- we waited a long time with big expectations. The meal was excellent! After eating dinner, our waitress brought us the check and I asked what about dessert? She then asked us back ' you didn't have it?'. We said no. She continued to push acting like we were lying. At least four times she questioned us. This was completely inexcusable and a horrible behavior. We were both so upset. We didn't even eat the dessert after that . We just paid and left. She just ruined a good dinner!

Yelp
A fine meal, but just fine. - Mussels app (3.5/5) - Burata app (3.5/5) - Beet Salad side (3.5/5) - Steak Frites main (4/5) - Lost Almost Cocktail (4.2/5) - Pork Chop main (4.5/5) Food was reasonable - highlights were the pork chop and Lost Almost cocktail. Probably wouldn't return again. Portions were on the smallish side. Both the burrata and the mussels came with two too-small crescent-shaped slices of bread (toasted over gas) for spreading cheese and dipping broth. Both breads were gone before the appetizer was. We asked for more and were told that they "don't really do more bread." The server suggested that if we wanted bread to eat the appetizers we had already ordered, we could order a *third appetizer* of foccacia. (Remember to order additional appetizers, if you wish to enjoy some appetizers.) And that's my experience in a nutshell: ungenerous. Pico isn't there for you, you're there for Pico.

Yelp
We really wanted to love this place. We stayed next door. We read the reviews. It was gonna be great. Celebrating my moms bday. One of our peeps doesn't eat pork or beef. We ordered wine. The wine list is beyond extensive. 5 stars to the wine list and the sommelier. The apps: we ordered the Brussels, the crudo and the persimmon burrata. Mixed reviews but in general we each liked one more than the others. Dinner: we opted for family style and ordered the pork shank, steak, casarecce and salmon. The pork was cooked very well but did not have enough flavor in the actual meat. Steak was great, sauce and greens were divine. Salmon was good. Went fast. Couscous was fun. Pasta was everyone's least favorite. Had a distinct citrus forward taste that offset the carrot and peas and was not fulfilling. Dessert: small! We ordered the lava and the affogato. The Pumpkin pie on the menu was unavailable. Satisfied the sweet ending. Not really sweet. Mostly bitter chocolate or coffee flavors. Not bad. Just satisfied. Overall we had a party of 5 and 3 of us would hesitate to return. Can't say enough great things about the atmosphere and the location. Both were great. The meal just left us meh. I'm sorry. We wanted to love you.

Yelp
Really pretty setting, nice outdoor seating, big space. Chickens running around which is fun, seems to work. We had the cheese plate, which felt a tad pricey, for what we got, but nice none-the-less. A healthy amount of 2 different types of cheese and some great bread. I had the shrimp with watermelon which was fine. I sort of was hoping for more, and more watermelon, but whatever the other item, relish type pepper thing, really added the most. Also had a salad, which was light and nice, but not much to talk about on that one.

Yelp
Found this little gem after wine tasting around the area all day. What a nice treat!! We did not have a reservation but got right in! Amy was our server and was very attentive and knowledgeable!! Forest was such a great assistant and kept us hydrated all night. We really enjoyed the appetizers and main dishes. Prices are very reasonable and each plate is a work of art. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Spent a great evening at Pico. The restaurant, bar, and outdoor seating are beautiful and well laid out and the atmosphere is fantastic. Our party of 4 sampled the beets, oysters, kale Cesar, Shrimp, Duck, Burrata, and my personal highlight the Steak Frites. Everything was fresh and had excellent flavor, I really couldn't ask for much more. Several more recent reviews made us apprehensive to try Pico vs our Los Alamos favorite Bell's... in my opinion they were mis directed. The new Chef and his staff are producing excellent food that rivals or exceeds many restaurants in the Valley and Santa Barbara/Montecito. We will be coming back regularly and I'm hopeful more people give this restaurant and Chef a chance.

Yelp
Took my family to Pico while my son was visiting for the weekend. He is definitely a foodie;loves to cook and experience different restaurants. We ordered what felt like one of everything on the menu so we could eat family style. It was amazing as we were all able to try a little bit of everything. We honestly enjoyed every dish we tried. My son loved the "vibe" and my husband loved the history of the building. Pico is not just a good meal but an experience.

Yelp
First time to the area we were told Pico was amazing so we made our reservations early on. To say we were disappointed is a understatement. Our waitress was great in the beginning and then disappeared after taking our order,45 mins later we were wondering where our entrees were I waved down our MIA waitress and she said oh your order is up next! Then a manager stopped by to ask how everything was we mentioned our entrees were taking a long time. I had the Linguini with a tomato sauce and my husband the steak and frites. Let's start with my pasta it was terrible the sauce tasted like it was a plain tomato sauce from a jar to be served to a child I took a few bites and didn't even finish the dish when the waitress came to the table she did not ask If I liked the meal that was obviously not eaten and my husband steak had so much grizzle's and so flavorless even when dipping in the horseradish worst meal and cost us $120 with two glasses of wine will not be returning. Disappointed!! Left feeling hungry. Only thing that tasted good was the free biscuits with honey butter Pasta looks half eaten in photo I took two bites it was a appetizer size dish not a full entree.

Yelp
I'm writing this review with a very heavy hand. Pico used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The former chef (John Wayne) was, in my opinion, a master. His menu always changed but there was continually inventive and interesting dishes with the most amazing flavors. The menu was priced very reasonably, from a $21 burger (the best ever), to the $9 plate of fries, a changing pasta dish in the $20's and an incredible salmon at $32. Those days are over... Enter a new chef...and while we didn't love the price increases on the menu (fries are now $14, fish is $42 and a steak frite, which is $26 everywhere else, is $44!!!) we wanted to give it a try. We are not ones to shy away from paying for a great dining experience. Sadly, this wasn't. To begin with, I went home very hungry. I split a gorgeous and very reasonably priced salad and opted for the $42 branzino as my main. It was hole, which is fine, but I had to scrape the flesh off and the bones often ended in my mouth. The fish was small and there is no way I got anywhere near even a quarter of a pound! NO way! It came with 4 half sized asparagus and a dollup of romesco. It was tasty BUT the portion was for a baby. Nothing else on the plate! How does someone charge $42 for a very small piece of fish that didn't have any preparation to it? The others at our table were equally disappointed. Our friend called the steak "gristly." The two guests who got that entree felt it was undercooked and there were ZERO juices that normally accompany that type of meat that season the fries. Such a waste. What is truly disappointing is this spot is a wonderful, cozy and really cool space. More importantly, the staff are amazing. Maria at the bar is a huge talent and on top of her game as a mixologist. The wait staff and management are so nice and accommodating. It truly pains me to say that unless the menu changes, I won't be dining there again. After spending nearly $200 on dinner, I went home hungry.

Yelp
We made reservations at Pico for 3 pm on a Saturday and everything was phenomenal. Our server, Kerry (sp?), was fabulous and made the experience SO personal for us. She recommended items on the menu, explained the dishes to us, and make us feel like we were VIPs! The vodka and gin cocktails were DELICIOUS and definitely had a vintage-vibe to them. We had the olives which were in this olive oil that was so good, I sopped it all up with the bread provided. Then, we moved onto the beef tartar, which was my husband's favorite. After than, we had the steak frites - the steak was perfect and the horseradish sauce was perfect! We also had the beet salad...and lemme tell you, I'm still thinking about it! It was beets on a smoked cheese base with pistachios. (see pic) Just WOW. For dessert, we had the blueberry "hand pie" with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. What a gem!!! And the chickens meandering around didn't hurt either - they were SO CUTE!!! The restaurant is gorgeous, but the outside is just a slice of heaven. Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
Kace was very knowledgeable with his wines and didn't steer us wrong. Strongly recommend this restaurant if you're visiting the Solvang area to get away from the tourist trap places. Food was delicious. (Plan a ride, Ubers are scarce here)
