Food is okay, oysters were delicious but grilled cheese and tomato was not so great. Best "Old Fashion" I've had in a long time, and I'm not a big whiskey drinker. Overall, the old school atmosphere gives this place charm and makes up for the food. Service was great and attentive. The main attraction in the bar is the art, amazing piece over the decorative bar. Be sure to see the historical items in the hallway and the glass atrium.

Google
The atmosphere is a cozy inclosed bar /restaurant vibe ...thier are no windows to look outside from here...... the food quality is good however some portions could be bit bigger especially the mac and cheese balls .......the drinks are good ..... the atmosphere is nice small cozy ...comfortable padded seats and high chairs and high tables ....they got a bar with tv 📺.....staff here are very friendly and good service.....thier is no outside seating its inside only seating

I put my drink down to go to the bathroom and the server ran after me demanding that I given a credit card. The bathroom is directly across the hall. I had no intention of leaving without paying, and if I had, chasing me down would not have achieved anything Not the way the deal with customer service

I had a decent dining experience. The food was satisfactory, but it didn't exceed my expectations in any way. The service was friendly, but not exceptional. The ambiance was clean and comfortable, but didn't stand out. Overall, it was a solid, middle-of-the-road restaurant that met my basic needs, but didn't leave me feeling impressed or eager to return. If you're in the area and looking for a reliable, unremarkable meal, Pied Piper will do the trick. Just don't expect to be wowed.

The Pied Piper Lounge has a rich history within the iconic Palace Hotel, with an enormous 100+ year old painting gracing the venue and an incredible lounge area that is regal and timeless. The food here is excellent and the drinks are great. I had the Pan Roasted Mary's Chicken Breast and the Green Goddess Refresher and I enjoyed them a lot. Definitely a place to drop by if you're in the area

Beautiful bar. Staff were excellent and always on hand. Excellent cocktails. We also had food here one evening and really enjoyed anything that we ordered.

Google
The famous Pied Piper in the Palace Hotel. This is a cozy but large bar that serves decent food (more of a low key bar lounge). The walls and ceiling are beautiful mahogany wood Pretty similar to the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel. I wouldn’t call it a restaurant tbh but you can get a full meal for sure. The food and drinks (cocktails are $20-24) are wildly expensive but it’s a great place to stop if you are nearby. The Pied Piper painting has some folklore history behind it - it’s a really cool enormous oil painting behind the bar. Service is always excellent and the crowd is always a low key mix of people traveling w some occasional locals. Definitely worth stopping in. Peek around the Palace Hotel lobby as well, the entire building is beautiful with marble and historic ornate decor.

Located in the Palace Hotel and visited here while staying at the Ritz-Carlton Club on Market, which is right across the street. My experience began with Norman, the Doorman, who was extremly courteous and helpful. Such interesting history associated with the hotel and the Pied Piper Lounge. The painting, which also bears its name, is the focal point of the room. Service was excellent and drinks were well prepared and generous. You'll be treated to "Homemade Potato Chips" and assorted olives, both are soooo good!!!

Yelp
We gratefully flopped down in two comfy seats at the Pied Piper Bar in the Palace Hotel in San Francisco on a cool and foggy Saturday night. Somehow we had managed to arrive a day early for our hotel reservation across the street at The Ritz, and our gracious concierge there had helped us book into the Palace for the night! We had eaten at the Pied Piper before, so it was a good choice after a long day driving. The greeting and service were spectacular. The busy, professional server brought menus and and immediately took our beverage orders. I got my classic Sauvignon Blanc, and my husband opted for Feverfew ginger ale, a favorite of his that we discovered here. The beverages came quickly, along with some classic bar snacks, olives and potato chips We perused the menu, which is very abbreviated, even for a bar menu. There were meaty selections for my husband, but the only chicken entree was spicy, so I improvised with a Caesar salad with added shrimp. I really enjoyed the retro ambience of the bar, with the Maxfield Parrish mural as a stunning centerpiece. I like a room with a view, and art is a fine view, indeed! There was also a TV for sports fans! The room filled up quickly as we enjoyed our beverages. We did note that the adjacent lounge, where we had eaten last time was not set up for service, but noted that the hotel had just ended a long strike. Our food came out quickly, my husbands Braised Beef Short Ribs were meaty, hearty and tender. My salad had that real Caesar flavor, which also enlivened the shrimp. We sampled the dishes immediately. The quiet ambience of the room just added to the soothing quality of the food, and set us up for a future visit!

Yelp
3.5 for an above average hotel restaurant-bar. And when I think hotel restaurants, I think upscale American fare (so-so), standard cocktails (above average), and fine wine (skip!!), so my review will be based on that. * Tomales Bay Oysters (3.5 stars) - Too fishy * Green Goddess Salad (3.5 stars) - Was shocked to find this was more of a wedge, served with iceberg? Dressing was alright, would not order again but was a nice contrast to the other dishes we ordered. * Garlic Truffle Fries (4.5 stars) - Yum * Ribeye (4 stars): Solid ribeye, wish the cut was thicker though. * Wines were very expensive and tasted like they had gone bad. Stick with the cocktails. Seems like a great spot for a burger and fries, otherwise pretty overpriced and probably caters to the guests here on business.

Yelp
I love a good ribeye and Pied Piper got it right both visits. I was lucky enough to be staying in the hotel, so I was able to visit whenever I fancied a steak and good drink before turning in for the night. There was never a hostess at the entrance, but I just walked in past the bar area to the back and grabbed a seat. I was offered water, fresh chips, bread and butter. My order was taken quickly since I knew what I wanted, my waiters checked in periodically, but never rushed me. I do appreciate the waiter on the first night advising me to try the ribeye vs the short rib I believe it was. Excellent choice! This hotel and restaurant are historic and a must visit! Once I passed the bar, which was lively, and entered into the other dining area, it was so quiet and peaceful. Just what I needed after a day of exploring. This is on my top list of places to eat and stay when in SF.

Yelp
Stayed at the Plaza hotel for Fleet Week weekend and had some drinks and a snack here. Food, drinks and service was MID. If we didn't have a $100 room credit we wouldn't come here. Prices are high for the mid quality you get. Just the drinks and one snack went over $100. Needless to say we will not be back.

Yelp
Tonight I dined with 2 other guests in the Pied Piper Restaurant. Th Palace is usually beautifully decorated during the Christmas season. (note: the carriage room was closed off for a private party). It was just okay this year. The restaurant was a big disappointment due to the quality of food for the price, the limited menu, the lack of the 'signature' cocktails as advertised, and the staff operation. I live in SF and completely understand it is an expensive city, but there are many comparably priced restaurants that have more expansive, unique, and quality selections. It was not a good spend of my money and a disappointment for all. We had: a martini, aperol spritz, lemon drop (signature?), 2 pasta pomadoros, and a wagyu burger. With tax and tip= $200. This local will not be back.

Yelp
One of the few places to have a late meal in downtown San Francisco. A brief yet good variety of dinner options as well as good drink selections. Old world ambience and vibe. I had mussels n rye manhattan. Rye was refreshing and mussels flavorful.

Yelp
We went to the restaurant, but they said they can not do take out. So we had to order via room service (which comes with fees of course) and a huge waste of time. Food- the green goddess salad was great. But everything else as mediocre. Price- pricey but that is expected given it is in a hotel. Ambience- cute, I would have liked to eat there but it was too crowded and we were trying to avoid large crowds due to rise in Covid again. Staff- waiters were not very polite but the host was more professional. I would order the green goddess salad again, but only if they did take away. And if I was staying in the hotel and didn't have other food options.

Yelp
Much of the food is celiac friendly, but our waiter wasn't aware of this. The manager got involved and all became clear. He also promised that he would work on labeling gluten-free items when the menu is reprinted. I ordered the wagyu beef burger without a bun. Our waiter told us that the cheddar cheese and French fries were not GF so he had the cheese left off and subbed a salad. As you can see by one of the photos, the inside of the burger was barely warm, which was concerning -- but my waiter told me that was how it was supposed to be cooked. Talking with the manager after dinner, I learned that there was a dedicated fryer for french fries and they were gluten-free. He also told me that when the burger arrived without cheese, I should have asked the waiter to bring it to me. As for the undercooked burger, the manager looked at what I left on my plate and told me that they use a thermometer to check the internal temperature before sending anything to a table, but I should have sent it back if it was not to my liking. My wife had the mussels which were plentiful and tasty. All in all - good atmosphere, decently priced food without surcharges, but a major lack of training in food allergies. Ask for the manager if you feel you are not getting good answers from the wait staff.

Yelp
We checked in late at the hotel and luckily Pied Piper was open. When you first enter there is a bar and as you go further in there is a large beautiful piano and tables all around. We were lucky enough to be at the restaurant with live music. We had the salad, salmon, pasta and chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious and the quality of the ingredients were great. The service was on point and everyone was so nice. Will I come here again? Definitely. I heard the burger is scrumptious.

Susan M.

Yelp
The problem is the service. the Pied Piper was nearly empty, but the wait staff hovered near our table throughout the meal, trying to rush us. we ignored the staff and they tried to remove our plates multiple times before we were finished. they gave us the bill while we were still eating. we had to tell them to stop bothering us and that we would let them know when we were done. The waiter attempted to put his hand on my shoulder. they ran a duplicate charge on my credit card. . The bar itself is beautiful, but the service is designed to benefit the wait staff and not the customer. i'd recommend having a drink here to see the space but eating somewhere else.

Yelp
Came in for drinks with a small group after work. Our server took our drink order quickly, but then disappeared for 25 minutes before finally bring the drinks (a cocktail, a beer, a glass of wine, and a coke). The server was also quite cold and unfriendly. Disappointing experience especially at this price point.

Yelp
The burger wasn't too bad and if I ever had a chance to go back I would ask to caramelize the onions. The portion size was a bit to much for myself and have never been a fan of throwing pickles on top of the bun. Just feel like it changes the taste of the first bite. Overall it wasn't o bad but I can't see how it justifies the price. The place was gorgeous inside that matched the appearance of the hotel itself it was in.

Yelp
Complimentary crunchy potato chips to start. Wagyu burger was meaty and delicious, crispy fries. Highlight was the boneless short rib, tender and flakes with a fork. Service was attentive and friendly, beautiful dining area and glass ceiling and murals adorn the walls. Birth place of the green goddess salad. The pictures of famous celebrities that have been here also add a nice touch. Only downside is some of the pictures too high to actually view.

Yelp
We came in during happy hour, so it wasn't busy at all. The space is beautiful and we had zero issues with any service. The problem really just lied with the drink menu, it wasn't anything special, very spirit forward and overpriced. You can order off menu as well, so that might influence an update to this review if I return.

Yelp
Very solid bar and kitchen in the Palce Hotel with great service at the bar and great executions on a variety of dishes. We were very happy with the burger, piri grilled chicken (the sauce is superb), and short rib empanadas. This is also a part of the AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts so if you have the $100 credit, it's a good use. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
This restaurant is located inside the Palace Hotel and the seating area is relatively limited so it can be pretty crowded. There isn't a hostess stand by the entrance, so it took quite a while for someone to greet us and then seat us, and then also a while to then stop by -- we actually had to grab our own menus before anyone stopped by. They were busy but not _that_ busy, so the attentiveness of service was a bit subpar. We were seated at the bar-height tables alongside the center divide, but not at the bar itself, so the chairs weren't super comfortable as they were high but you didn't have anywhere to prop your feet on, but we had "extended" table space as we utilized the center divide as a counter as well (the staff also recommended we move things there to make room haha). The huge painting behind the bar was super cool. For drinks, we got the Last Cocktail and the Buona Vita, both were very tasty and well made. The Buona Vita won out slightly as the grapefruit was a great compliment to the gin and really made the drink pop, though the pear juice in the Last Cocktail was also quite delicious. For food, we ordered diver scallops, seafood risotto and the wagyu burger. The scallops were good (3 good sized scallops for $32), but I felt a tad overpriced as the plate was mostly 95% polenta which was super bland and not tasty. The seafood risotto was very good and we quite enjoyed that one. The wagyu burger was also good and came with fries that were nice and crispy. They provide ketchup in these tiny glass containers (not sure if they are house made) but you have to ask if you want it! All in all, service was a bit slow and we had to explicitly look for someone to wave over if we wanted anything. The food was pretty good, though I don't recommend the scallops since the polenta it comes with completely detracts from the scallops themselves. Price is fair considering it is located inside a hotel and in SF, but not the cheapest meal there is. Their menu has a good amount of food items and drinks choices.

Yelp
Cool woodsy dark but well appointed bar and restaurant in palace hotel. Nice ambiance with ornate historic decor.

Yelp
If you want a table, be the first in line at opening. We waited a long time. The place is small and for being in the hotel, you'd think that they would have way more tables and seating. The waiter was really nice. The food was decent as well. I would go again if I'm staying at The Palace, but now I know to get there early.
google avatar

Yelp
The drinks and food were amazing but what made our evening was the service. Once our server found out it was our anniversary the entire staff treated us like royalty. Comp Chandon and our server even knew how to take a boomerang of our toast.

Vincent B.

Yelp
Our server John T, was more worried about turning tables rather than seeing if our food was up to par. The wife and I were splitting a burger here while enjoying drinks for a snack before we were going out and when he asked how the burger was? I said it was over, he replied "pretty good for a half burger". We quickly finished our drinks and headed back to our room. Luckily I used to serve and you got 15% cause otherwise I'd give you nada.

Yelp
Ate here for dinner one night during a walk in the neighborhood with my boyfriend. It's located inside the Palace Hotel and the venue is beautiful. There were free tables when we walked in, but we had to flag our waiter down because he didn't realize we were there. But after that, service was attentive and the food was great. Boyfriend ordered the steak and I ordered the risotto with crab (wish I would have gone for the steak instead!) The steak melted in your mouth and the crab cake was delicious. The risotto was too rich for me and I didn't finish the entire thing. It's a bit pricey for a regular 'ole dinner, but I would come back if given the chance.

Yelp
They refill their premium liquor bottles with bottom shelf. I order grey goose and Belvedere vodka, they are refilling bottles with cheap vodka, undrinkable, this vodka is what you make Jell-O shots out of in college. Bartender was very defensive, probably him tainting the bottles. I guess it's pure tourists so they are not banking on return customers. Go somewhere else

Yelp
This place has the better food and drink in the hotel. It's surprising that not all the drinks and food outside Pied Piper is good in the hotel. For some reason that's the only minus of palace hotel. The Pied piper has a large selection for bar food and fun drinks. The ambience is great. The painting and dark leather wood interior makes it look classy! Just like the hotel. Worth a visit

Carol S.

Yelp
I love the ambiance of this restaurant/bar nestled in the gorgeous Palace Hotel. Service is always on point. I've never been disappointed with the food. I always order the truffle fries with aioli. The charcuterie plate, green goddess salad, and wagyu burger are also delicious. Although good, the drinks are way overpriced (reason for 4/5 rating). However most drinks are in the area. If you want a solid experience overall while, it's definitely worth it.

Yelp
This review is just for the food! Ambiance - def a vibe here, a bit dark and old-fashion. Great for drink vibes. Service - our waiter was kind and attentive! Food - 3/5 Troll King Salmon Lox- the flavors was interesting but I'll pass next time Nam Prik Pao Garlic Wing- they were a bit dry, no no. Wagyu Burger - pretty solid, love the fries (almost as good as McDonalds & homegirl love McDonald fries okayy) Water - 5/5 okay who talks about water... but this water was good! I'm pretty particular with my waters and can taste the difference. But believe me when I say the water was gooood! Oh and also, complimentary chip & olives!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm mostly giving it stars because of the art history at this bar. We got tea so I have no idea how their drinks are. The tea was satisfying though and the service was good enough.
google avatar

Gloria C.

Yelp
It is a cute bar in the palace hotel with a lot of history! They have a book with all presidents' favorite drinks who visited the piped piper! Free refill for the chips and drinks are pretty good! If you are staying in the hotel - definitely recommend to check it out

Yelp
This is probably one of the most interesting experiences. We had a party of 8 and we were told that we had to be split into two tables. However when we were seated they combined the tables so we all sat together. The servers and the staffs were wonderful, but we did wait over an hour after ordering to get our food. When we checked on our food, we were told it was ready in 5 mins and after 5 mins, still no food. We told the servers that we are going to leave and immediately the food came out. We didn't ask to be compensated but we did. The exec chef was giving the servers a really hard time ):
google avatar

Yelp
We went on a Saturday night. We ordered martinis they were delicious. They have these homemade kettle chips that provided after your seated. We ordered wings and fries. Snacks were great bar was a bit crowded because the back was closed for an event.

Yelp
Located on the first floor in the Financial District in San Francisco's Financial District within the ultra luxurious Palace Hotel, Pied Piper San Francisco is no ordinary hotel restaurant and bar. Upon entry to the hotel, one will easily note the overall ornateness and historical value of the venue, from their atrium dining area that connects to their lobby to the long hallways that contain many historical artifacts from the 1906 earthquake and when The Palace Hotel reopened in 1909 following that same earthquake. One of the most significant pieces of artwork in all of San Francisco actually resides at The Palace Hotel. The "Pied Piper of Hamelin" is a mural that covers almost an entire wall of the bar area, and was commissioned from artist Maxfield Parrish that was inspired by the legendary tale where the Pied Piper leads the citizens of Hamelin, Germany out of town. Residing in the hotel for over one hundred years, with Parrish himself standing in for the Pied Piper in his historical painting, leaving its perch for only three times, the last being in 2013 for a much needed restoration. But enough of the history, what about the overall experience? The reason why we came on a brisk Friday evening was because for the first time, in quite some time, Pied Piper was participating in San Francisco Restaurant Week in the Fall of 2021. During this ten day event, local purveyors of food are able to offer a pre-fix meal so curious customers can get a real sense of their menu. And this type of meal allowed us to get a first hand experience of not only the Pied Piper but The Palace Hotel as well, as both alert their fans that they were fully open and taking in customers. Once you enter their bar area one of their servers lets you know that you can either sit in the bar area, where it is a little darker, or their main dining room, where it is open seating with multiple sofas and cushioned chairs with coffee tables around fireplaces, and multiple four-top tables lined up along both side of the walls. One of the main reasons that we selected Pied Piper for our meal was that they offered up a lot of solid options for their three-course pre-fix dinner. I decided to order their Grilled Fennel and Soppressata Flatbread topped with smoked mozzarella and goat cheese crumble for my appetizer, while my dining mate selected the other option they were offering for their first course, their Edamame Ricotta Hummus served with fall crudités and fry bread. For our entrees, I selected the Maxfield's Crispy Fried Chicken Breast served with a side of winter squash and sautéed spinach, while my dining mate selected the other entrée they were offering for their pre-fixe meal, their Tempura Petrale Sole and Shrimp served with a side of shallot parsley and a grain mustard caper tartar sauce. And for our dessert course we each selected their Chocolate Caramel Sponge Cake. Our meal was delivered in due time, as we waited, our servers made sure to refill our water glasses at every turn as we took in the sports that were playing on two huge screens within their main dining room. I really enjoyed my flat bread pizzas, as it was savory without being overloaded with toppings, while my dining mate's hummus was decent as she loved the fry bread as it was so huge she was able to cut it into multiple pieces so we could both enjoy the dip. My fried chicken was solid, if a somewhat unremarkable overall dish, as it wasn't as crispy as one would have hoped, while my dining mate's entrée was basically a glorified fried fish, shrimp and chips combo meal. Although our dessert was beautifully plated, the cake eventually turned out a little drier than I hoped it would be. But overall, even with our food being somewhat unremarkable, what cannot be denied is that our service and overall feeling of the interior of Pied Piper San Francisco cannot be beat when it comes to intimate hotel bars as their team always made us feel welcome replacing our silverware and over attentiveness. And looking at the regular menu prices, I am so glad that they decided to participate in this year's restaurant week promotion, as the prices were significantly reduced thanks to this pre-fix menu deal because as we all know a hotel bar's menu can be a little pricey from time to time and Pied Piper San Francisco is no exception. But where else can you take in a little history with exhibits and get a great cocktail, not many places in San Francisco, so I'll be playing that tune any time I am invited for another visit to the Pied Piper in the historic Palace Hotel.

Yelp
Bait and switch on their liquor, watch out! My buddy and I saw they had Hibiki 12 (a very nice Japanese whiskey) on the menu for a great price and specifically went for this pour. When we ordered at the bar, the bartender took the bottle and poured at the very edge of the bar in front of other customers (usually they'll bring the bottle right in front of you and pour it), which we found a bit odd. He then proceeded to serve us the pours, immediately hiding the bottle away. However, we asked to see the bottle, and the first thing out of his mouth was, "Sure, this is the Hibiki Harmony". We were dumbfounded and told him Harmony was not the same as the 12 year old, and he immediately got defensive and said Harmony and 12 are the same. Umm... there's a reason why the 12 year will have a 12 in the bottle. It's like saying a Volkswagen Jetta is the same as a Bugatti Veyron because they're owned by the same Volkswagen Group, cmon dude. Anyhow, we corrected him but he proceeded to be very defensive saying things like, "oh this is what I've been serving to everyone... it must be a misprint then...", like it was very rehearsed. I am 100% this was not the first time it happened, and that he purposely did not show us the bottle when pouring. Had we sat at a table we wouldn't have even seen how it was poured, so we were very fortunate to have caught this act. It was a very awkward few moments where we looked at each other, to be honest I had thought he would offer the pours complements on the house for their mistake, but nope. All he said at the end was, "well you don't have to drink these" and just took the pours back (probably to drink himself, definitely didn't dump them). We left right away and vowed to never return, terrible bait and switch and even worse service. This was a mid aged Asian bartender working Friday late afternoons, if that matters. Please change the menu to show the correct spirits.

Yelp
We had dinner and drinks here since we stayed at the Palace hotel. We did dine with a $100 credit but otherwise, we probably would not have eaten here. The food was just a mediocre overpriced hotel restaurant meal. Service took a long time because they seemed short staffed and very busy for a Saturday night. Afterwards, we tried to grab drinks at the bar and the bartenders were not the most attentive. I also believe their old-fashioned is from a pre-made mix. Overall, I would only dine here out of convenience if staying at the hotel but would skip it otherwise.

Yelp
We went in on this menu! Got here in the early evening after running around and not eating all day. Everything on the menu looked so good, we just ordered about everything to taste: Roasted Pear & Sopressata Flat Bread, Maxfield's Fried Chicken Breast & Bisquit, Marin French Double Cream Brie, Truffle Fries, and the Smokey Chili Wings. From start to finish, everything was amazing. Not a single complaint on the food. Our server was very friendly and attentive too. I loved the bright and stunning painting above the bar, kept finding myself starting at it exploring all of the details. Great place for a fantastic meal and yummy cocktails.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous bar with great vibes - ambiance is on point. Pricey, but that's to be expected. Totally underrated and certainly a hidden gem in SF. Extra beautiful at Christmas time :)

Yelp
Overpriced for sure, but worth just for visiting the Palace Hotel! Oily truffle fries.

Yelp
We stopped in the Pied Piper on our way to the theatre and enjoyed some pre-show appetizers and cocktails. The Pied Piper can be accessed from the main entrance to the Palace Hotel since the entrance on Market is locked. It is a really great spot with a wonderful atmosphere. Our service was fantastic and so was everything we ordered. We had a variety of appetizers which included their amazing charcuterie board and the garlic fries. I went for my usual cocktail which is tequila soda and slice of orange and my friends enjoyed a dirty martini. I highly recommend a cocktail stop here.

Scott R.

Yelp
Sorry. I stay at the Palace frequently and I want to love this bar, but it is mediocre at best. The bartenders are lazy and indifferent, giving zero energy to the bar and struggling to delivering anything but the most basic drinks (and even those they don't do well). They give no extra effort (can they really not locate a grapefruit for a twist in the entire hotel??). Spirit selection is average and uninspired. The entire place feels like an afterthought. Easy solution...go across the street to the House of Shields.

Yelp
We arrived at the Palace by Marriott around 6 PM after a long day of flights and were looking for something smaller and a good drink. We found both! The bar/restaurant has a long history and a gorgeous painting of the Piped Piper of Hamelin which was installed with the 1909 renovation. Husband had the pear and soppressata flatbread. Very good! I had half of a wagyu burger( husband had the other half) burger was a tad bit over cooked but still good. We subbed the truffle fries for the reg fries...highly recommend!! Drinks were excellent also! Loved that they had a variety of rums, gins, etc. For the wearied traveler, this was such a welcome place! Service was great as well!

Yelp
Nice lounge bar at the hotel. I checked out this place as I was staying at the hotel. I was not thinking of getting food but I ended up having some. The Brussels sprouts had a sweet sauce which seemed to odd to be, but it was tasty enough that I won't whine. The fish and chips were just a random pick when I all of sudden got hungry. It was ok. The drinks tasted good. I like the Buona Vita the most.

Live jazz music and great cocktails set the mood for a wonderful evening. The food was good too.

Yelp
Solid spot inside the iconic Palace Hotel, charming, classic, and serving traditional continental cuisine, banquet kind of food, unfortunately; small wine list, classic cocktails! The place decks out in beautiful arts/paintings, mahogany wood, velvet curtain, bring back the old old glory days of the San Francisco before the DotCom and Social Media era vibes! Servers and bartenders in vests, warm service and attentive! Don't expect modern cocktails here! You won't see many millennials here either :-) Majority guests were Boomers and young married couples here for the holidays! If you want to avoid the millennials here for Gram, it's a perfect spot to put your phone away!

Yelp
A very comfortable room with poor acoustics. Located in the Palace Hotel, the room feels like it might have felt 60 years ago. Everything is comfortable. The cocktails are average. The room is loud, your inside voice may need to be amplified to be heard by your party. The staff is attentive.

Yelp
My husband has wanted to take me down to see the palace hotel ever since he took one of those SF walking tours on the subject. The hotel is gorgeous, and the Pied piper is as well. Honestly one comes here for the ambiance. The servers were all prompt and polite, though one of them felt very much to be angling for us to spend more, he was playful enough about it, but it was overmuch and felt a bit tacky. The two female servers in the large room with the fireplaces, and another across from the bar, were very pleasant. Husband got a glass of Lagavulen, which we have at home. I didn't want get anything, knowing we were headed over to North beach after to get something to take home for a late dinner, but he wanted me to have something with him. The least expensive thing on the menu was $7 bottled beer, I was ready to cave and get an anchor steam when he mentioned that they had Guinness on tap, so I got that, for $8. It was fresh and cool, so I'm glad I went that direction and it did make it more enjoyable to nurse a beer. The asian cracker style nibbles were very nice. The way I see it, one comes here for the lovely atmosphere. I hear it is packed in the bar on Fridays, so be warned. The Friday after New Years, around 7 pm, was wonderfully slow.

Yelp
A lovely, charming and upscale hotel bar with solid dinner options. Our server was excellent and very accommodating to our special requests. Prices are what you would expect for a hotel of this caliber.

Yelp
Stayed at hotel for the weekend, so had both drinks and food at the Pied Piper. Venue is comfy & cozy, perfect for a business meet up or a dinner date. Small menu but it doesn't disappoint. The Mishimiya Wagyu burger with fries was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and had ample burger toppings provided. The Green Goddess salad was so fresh and healthy, very tasty and delightful. Both were full sized meals and big enough to share. Cocktails were great - both standard and special recipe drinks. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Overall great experience.

Yelp
The staff was awesome. The bar looks great. The TVs had the giants game on. The mural is creepy but so is the legend of the pied piper. Reasonable prices. The hotel looks amazing. It's a good first or last stop on a night of bar hopping The energy is low and calming.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of having a couple free drinks here with my stay at the Palace Hotel in the city. I was celebrating my 28th birthday and the concierge was kind enough to give me a few drink coupons! The Pied Piper is really classy and old school. There's a large beautiful old looking painting of what I guess would be a depiction of the "Pied Piper." The ambiance is intimate, dark. Dark wood furniture. My drink was made perfectly. I always get my usual which is an amaretto sour, came out perfectly. They also serve nice plate of mixed nuts. A great place for a nice cocktail to talk and enjoy a drink. Not too busy either.

Yelp
Such a cute and cozy bar inside the Palace hotel. Gorgeous inside, great service and friendly staff. Live the drinks. We tried their Boulevardier and Yama Kazi Japanese whiskey. Both exceptional drinks!
