Plan to Revive Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco Includes a Food Hall, Market, and Brewery | Eater SF

"A plan to revitalize the historic Fisherman’s Wharf area would redevelop the area around Pier 45 into a hub featuring a seafood processing center, a wholesale fish market where visitors could watch fish being processed, and a food hall to taste local seafood. The 18-page proposal, put forward by local investors operating as Fisherman’s Wharf Revitalized LLC and now scheduled for review by the Fisherman’s Wharf Advisory Committee, also envisions an experiential museum about fish processing, an event center, a pedestrian promenade, short-term vacation rentals, and a beverage producer (winery, brewery, or distillery). The group has an exclusive negotiation agreement with the Port of San Francisco and about two years to finalize details; partner Louis Giraudo estimated the project could take as little as three and a half years, though cost and exact timeline remain unclear, and Port Commission approval would still require the Board of Supervisors to permit moving forward without a formal bidding process." - Lauren Saria

Why San Francisco’s 2020-21 Dungeness Crab Season Has Been Delayed | Eater SF

"A massive May fire at Pier 45 destroyed gear belonging to 30 members of the area's fishing community, and this is the first crab season since that loss—compounding the hardship for small local fishermen already facing missed holiday sales and a delayed opening." - Becky Duffett

Best pier on the west side!! Also known as a Christopher Street Pier. Would highly recommend visiting. It includes a long stretch of beautiful green lawn to lay out on, a water mister for hot days to keep ya cool, a pavilion at the end, and some shade cover and trees at both ends. I would be careful with bringing alcohol or a dog cause they are strict to enforce those and seen a ton of tickets being dished out in the summer. Other than that, enjoy!

concerts on the Hudson! Most of the events are free. There is a cafe-restaurant-bar near the entrance to the park. You cannot bring dogs (on the grass) or alcohol into the park. It is a great place to picnic with friends and watch the sunset. You can organize your own event. There are free sunset concerts on Friday evenings.

The Hudson River walk has wonderful spots and many piers that have been remodeled with amenities and space to sit and relax. A couple of piers are just old posts but the views and the breeze are fantastic.

Cool place to take a stroll and enjoy the view across the Hudson river. There’s live entertainment/music on many occasions and although it’s always lively, never crowded.

Great spot for relaxing and watching people go by. Lots of seating and lawns near the path, with a few lovely gardens interspersed throughout, including the Apple sculpture. The pier itself has plenty of lawn space as well, but the main attraction is the panoramic views of lower Manhattan, NY Harbor (including the Statue of Liberty) and across the Hudson with city views of Jersey City and its quite impressive skyline and Hoboken and Weehawken as well. Can be very crowded on a nice weekend day, especially in the Spring and Fall.

Pier 45 is one of the best in the city. During Covid-19 the police have a line at the entrance with an in/out policy to keep it from becoming too crowded. Still a wonderful lawn to enjoy the breeze and skyline.

Yelp
Amazingly beautiful pier. Some of the best views of the city are from here. I can come by this pier & relax honestly for the remainder of my life. Will for sure be back.

Yelp
Pier 45 at Hudson River is absolutely beautiful. The area has been beautified for relaxing and for walkers to enjoy traffic free walks along the river. It's been a while since I walked along this area. I retired from where I worked which was on Varick Street and Houston. During lunch I could get some exercise after sitting at the desk all morning. I watched this area improve over the years. Take a long walk and enjoy nature and the outdoors with beautiful river views!!

Yelp
It was 1:07 pm on the first Summer Saturday in New York City, the sun defrosting the city after a biblical winter. I put my Whole Foods tote bag down amidst a sea of women tanning at Pier 45, took off my black Banana Republic long sleeve t-shirt to use as my towel, and pulled out my book to signal to everyone that I'm simply nothing more than a bookworm. I felt like LeBron. I had my wired apple headphones in with no music playing, as I'm first team all eavesdrop. I sat there, pulled my shorts up to make sure everyone could see my thigh tattoos, and began judging patrons for reading off of a kindle. Oh me? I'm just more of a physical book kind of guy. I saw large groups of people playing cards, laughing, sipping wine, and having a genuinely good time. A rage began to fill within me. How do you even know 10 people that you would go to a park with on a nice summer day? The rage morphed to jealousy, as I began dreaming of having enough friends to play Uno with. I ran through scenarios in my head, laughing at my imaginary friends as I put down an ice cold draw 4. "Wow Johnny! You might be the best Uno player alive. How did you get so good!?!" Once this fantasy wore off, I began drumming up another one where a prime Eva Mendez was sitting next to me and said "Hi I'm so sorry to interrupt, but what book are you reading?" I pretended to be caught off guard, paused my wired headphones, and responded "oh me? It's called 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' by Toshikazu Kawaguchi... Yeah he's a Japanese author, I got it when I was in Kyoto... Oh you haven't been to Japan!?! That's crazy haha it's my favorite place in the world..." But yeah, this is a nice place to chill and soak up some sun. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__
