Grab Your Bibs, Louisiana-Style Cajun Seafood Heads to Chinatown | Eater Vegas

"Promised to be coming soon, Pier 88 Boiling Seafood & Bar is making its first Nevada expansion. The family-friendly casual restaurant encourages diners to put on their bib and gloves, then dig in to Louisiana-style Cajun seafood served in spice-infused bags. Already serving in Tennessee, Missouri, Alabama, and Oklahoma, Pier 88 does not offer crawfish on its menu; instead it serves shrimp, clams, mussels, catfish, oysters and house dish specials, including the Low Country boil, filled with a half pound of snow crab legs, half pound of shrimp, half pound of all-meat sausage, one boiled egg, one corn, and one potato. Paperwork for the build was filed earlier this week." - Bradley Martin

We came during the lunch hour. The fried oysters and shrimp were very fresh with no funky seasonings. The ice tea/sweet tea was excellent as well. We waitied for our food for the appropriate amount of time considering everything is cooked fresh. There is a lunch menu for those who aren't that hungry. We opted for the regular menu. Very clean place. Very simple. There is a full bar.

Delicious Seafood Boils and Great Vibes! Pier 88 Seafood & Bar did not disappoint! We ordered their seafood boils, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The portions were generous, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice, messy in the best way! The atmosphere was lively and relaxed, with great music and friendly service that made the whole experience even better. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking for a fun, satisfying meal, this place is definitely worth a visit. We’ll be back for more!

Great shrimp, Cajun fries could use a little more kick. Waiter was great!

Google
We really enjoyed the food here. They gave us a pair of scissors to use to open the crab legs that were in our boil but they did clean the scissors 1st. The medium seasoning is quite warm so unless you want a good bit of heat flavor, stick with mild. Good service and atmosphere.

Food quality took a nose dive and crashed the last couple months. Came about two months ago and ordered the two way shrimp. Fried shrimp was great but could not bear to eat the boiled shrimp. Ordered like usual hot pier 88 seasoning. Shrimp seasoning was very oily with little to no seasoning. Noticed the restaurant was packed. Noted to the manager that the food quality was terrible. Fast forward to today, me and the wife decide to try again and order the same thing. This time I notice the restaurant is 1/3 full on a Friday mind you. And food quality is exactly the same. I suspect a change in ownership or management.

Google
I've been here a few times throughout the years (first visit in 2020) and have not had a bad experience yet. The food has always been hot and fresh and we have never had issues with service or getting drinks topped off. We always leave full or with leftovers. Usually not too busy, even around dinner time. Prices vary between visits due to market prices but average $27-30 for the low country boil in July 2024.

Google
Busy Friday night and I could not have been happier! Our server Amanda was amazing and on top of it! We ordered the low country boil and a appetizer shrimp and everything was fresh and LOVELY!! I would recommend it to anyone and don't forget to ask for Amanda!

Google
I just have one thing to say I don't know if they are under new ownership or a new cook but the flavor is bland and not the same I came here about 2 months ago and it tasted like salt water and other tables around me said the same thing, we came back again today to give it another try and just as expected the flavor had the same bland taste. Our server both times were great but the OG taste is not there anymore.... Sad

Yelp
This place was rocking when we were there. King Crab & Shrimp for 4 were all cooked perfectly. The service was above average (especially for how busy they were) and other than wounding myself a dozen times on the crab legs, we had a wonderful experience. We normally try appetizers, but we were travelling with no way to save leftovers......we'll have to review those next time.

Yelp
Service was great, and our waitress Makaya was truly top tier! Unfortunately, the food and the back-of-house experience were a huge disappointment. I ordered the Low Country Boil "88 Special," medium spice, but what I received was extremely hot and far spicier than requested. Makaya kindly offered to have it remade, telling me it would only take a few minutes. What I did NOT expect was for the cook to simply rinse off my original food and rebag it. I knew immediately what happened because the flavor was watered down, and the same crab leg I had already cracked open came back in the new bag. Completely unacceptable. I will NOT be returning. If this is their standard practice, I'm genuinely concerned about the integrity of the kitchen. A health inspection needs to take place ASAP.

Yelp
Let's start with the server/waitress. She came up to the table, did not introduce herself, and immediately said, hello can you tell me what you would like to drink?? I asked her was she our server, and she said she was. I said ok what is your name, and she told me, so I then proceeded to tell her what I wanted to drink. She then gave us a few minutes because we weren't ready to order. She then came back with our beverages, and then took our order. She then brought the food to the table once it was ready. She came to the table ONE TIME to ask us were we ok. A little bit later the last person in my party showed up, and took her order. The person in my party did not like her service as well. She never did come back to the table to see if that party needed anything. I still gave her a tip, but by the minimum that get ticket suggested. That young lady needs more training. She really acted as if she did not want to be there. Or like we were bothering her. Now, my catfish basket was not all of that! As a matter of fact, I visited this establishment one time, but don't have to EVER GO BACK!! The kids in my party ordered crab legs, king crab, and a shrimp plate. The one kid that ordered the shrimp with the heads off in the plastic bag, I am assuming that was grilled shrimp, he enjoyed his food. All of the kids were pleased. The ambiance wasn't bad. It was nice and spacious inside, and their score is a 99, which means a whole lot of goodness and cleanliness in the restaurant industry. Would I recommend this place, based off of the server and my food, no. But, you can do whatever you like of course to grab your own opinion of Pier 88, but I wouldn't recommend this place.

Yelp
The restaurant is clean, the staff is extremely friendly and gives great service, and the only complaint that I had was the plastic silverware. I started with the crab cake appetizer. It came with 2 cakes that were absolutely delicious. Then, for the main course I ordered the 4 piece fried catfish basket with sweet potato waffle fries. The catfish was exceptionally breaded and delicious. The sweet potato waffle fries are the best sweet potato fries I've ever had.

Yelp
This is your typical seafood boil place. Me and a couple of my coworkers came here and it happened to be during happy hour. So we started with a few drinks (they were on point!!) and apps. Then we order boils. The pier 88 mix sauce is on point and the hot heat level.. good. The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is we started with good service then over time our server left us. I think this is because our server was also the bartender, but the communication of hey someone else is going to handle your table would have been great. We were there for a min. Just lack of hand off. Overall good experience.

Yelp
First let me say. I am not a seafood lover at all. I only went because it was valentines weekend and it was husband request. Pretty much this is his review because he loves seafood and we do not have any decent ones back home in Kentucky that fits our taste buds w/o driving over an hour. Now that my update is over lol... The food was fresh but needs a bit more seasoning on the food itself. If that makes sense. It was boiled nicely. All the flavors were in the bottom of the bag....still tasty. We arrived at a busy time and were seated right away. A plus of course. Our waiter was very polite and attentive. Food came out pretty fast. The Restaurant was clean.

Yelp
The seafood boil was good. I got the Pier 88 special seasoning with Hot heat level. Their hot does have a kick to it! Towards the end of dinner they turned up the music and created a nice vibe. Cool place with good food and the service was okay.

Yelp
First let me say that the food was great as always. What the problems were was that our group of 12 or more were seated in the back of the restaurant where there was absolutely no air flowing at all. We roasted our entire time there. No staff suggested moving us or anything. Secondly, our waitress was TERRIBLE. She left us before finishing taking the complete tables orders. She was rude and a terrible waitress. We complained to the manager who reduced our tip amount but that's it. We probably will not be returning anytime soon. Such a terrible thing, because we really enjoyed the food. Oh yeah, she told us nothing about the menu. Didn't explain a thing about the menu. Red lobster, here we come!.

Yelp
From Atlanta and recently took a trip to Chattanooga. Stopped by Pier 88 for their happy hour. Pier 88 reminds me of Juicy Crab but better. Those Pier 88 wings extra crispy and extra wet are 10/10. The hush puppies are solid as well. The drinks were our least favorite. You have to order a Blue Long Island to taste liquor in your drink. Ordered a Cosmopolitan and I think the bartender added sprite. Yikes. Our waiter provided good service. Would definitely dine again. We told them we are in town to celebrate our anniversary and they were nice enough to bring out free dessert to celebrate. Yelp
I tried the shrimp Po boy with the 88 seasoning and was very happy with that decision. The fires and hush puppies were very good. Our wait staff was very good. She brought be out an Arnold Parker before my glass was empty. The bar setting is very nice.

Yelp
Excellent Cajun boil, perfect seasoning , perfectly cooked, just what I expected. Very affordable and very clean. You could see that the diners were enjoying themselves. Nice waiter.

Yelp
Walked in the place with already high expectations, due to a close friends recommendation. I have to say, this place blows expectations out of the water. Greeted by the hostess to my right upon entering, we were sat in a booth on the far left. The atmosphere was very relaxing and though the place was full, there was no wait! We ordered calamari for an appetizer, which was a great way to start this night. After we ordered a water, we also ordered an 88 Punch (Alcoholic drink, vodka based). As for the food, I can't even describe with words how good the foods were. We got the "Famous Low Country Boil" ($28.95), Medium Heat, with 88 Pier seasoning (which is a combination of goodness in itself). That meal comes with snow crab, shrimp, and sausage. We just split the one order and that was plenty. Joy was our waiter and took exceptional care of us. We live over an hour away and he made this experience so wonderful for us. We will absolutely be back! All in all: Atmosphere: 10 Food: 10 Staff: 10 *edit Came back and Sharon also took exceptional care of us!

Yelp
The food was really good and it wasn't that expensive compared to other seafood places. The service was decent. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was crab seafood beachy theme.

Yelp
What a nice lunch we had today! The food was cooked perfectly. We had a fried oyster basket and a fried catfish basket. The fries were delicious and nice and crispy. And the catfish and oysters were amazing. The service was excellent. Fast and friendly. The restaurant is cute and welcoming.

Yelp
I had just lost my job right before the holidays. Went to eat with family. Was having trouble with a Groupon and the manager Nisha made a bad situation better. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Food fresh and hot!! No special seasoning Had the medium special sauce nothing special about the sauce on the Boil. Service was awesome.

Yelp
My oldest son and I discussed how we wanted something different, so we drove to East Brained to experience a seafood boil. This location is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. We went early, 5pm ish, on a weekday and were seated immediately. After looking at the menu, I was excited to see oysters on the half shell, and since I had just come back from the gulf coast I was hoping for a repeat of delicious oysters. The seafood boil options were comprised of several "set" choices, but you can add items or create your own boil. I went with a crab & shrimp boil, adding more crab (which automatically added a corn & potato) with the combo sauce (recommended by the waitress). Let's get the disappointing item out of the way first - the oysters. Oysters on the half shell should be cold. For some inexplicable reason the oysters were served on plastic wrapped ice. Why? The oysters were room temp and I couldn't finish them - very off putting. Now the great stuff - the boil was delicious! Messy as heck, but man the flavor was 5 star. The only negative was the cut of the sausage. I prefer a chunk vs the thin slices they use. Pass on the oysters but definitely go for the boil. I also wish the waitress had brought refills of water around more frequently - we had to waive her down.

Andrew L.

Yelp
I already knew the food was mediocre at best, spent good money despite it pouring down raining, ordered a bag to go, I SPECIFICALLY said no pork in it. Get all the way home and guess what's in it? So I had to give it away, called them and the young lady apologized and said if I bring it back (30 min drive in floodwaters) she would give me another, or if I came in later she would replace it. I came in today (with receipt) to get it and the manager told me she could only give me a 25% discount. Umm no thanks love I'm cool. Service and food never again

R C.

Yelp
The food was great and service was, too. We just happened to be in the area and thought we would try it. We loved it.

Miranda F.

Yelp
I have never done a seafood boil before so I don't have an experience to compare this too. But the flavors were great and service was also!!! I did need to add some salt! Restaurant was clean and staff was helpful and kind!

Yelp
Cool Atmosphere, Good Food, Good Prices. The ambiance here is relaxing and cool. The service is friendly. Oyster Po Boy: I liked the fried oysters and there was a decent potion in the sandwich. Sweet Potato Fries: delicious! You cannot usually go wrong with sweet potatoes! Sweet Tea: Tasty! Catfish Po Boy: I had this last month and forgot to make a review. I'll have to get it gain another time so I can speak to its goodness... Easy to find across the road from Rooms To Go...

Yelp
My partner and I were in need of good seafood and we found this place that wasn't far away. The restaurant was packed with so many people when we arrived so we hoped that was a sign that the food would be amazing. Our service was so friendly and attentive. I feel like it took a while to receive our food but it was so worth it! The Cajun spicy seasoning was excellent on the shrimp and crab legs that were boiled to perfection! I didn't get any photos because I dove right into the food as soon as it got to the table but it was great! We'll certainly return on our next visit.

Yelp
So my sister flew in from Florida and wanted to have crabs for dinner...first time for both of us here. We walked in and noticed the front door was dirty and then there was like four couples in the whole establishment. We got a booth and I noticed how dirty the napkin holder was. It was in the middle of the table, so it was pretty noticeable and the server was nice, she gave us the menu. I told her it was our first time there and what did she recommend and it was the combination the first combination. so my sister and I both ordered the number one combination which entailed had shrimp de headed snow, crab, claw, legs, sausage corn on the cob one little piece of corn on the cob and one potato, and then it either sits in a bag with garlic butter or the seasonings with garlic butter. And they give you a bucket they give you one glove a lobster and she didn't bring out any cocktail sauce. I had to ask for that and she only brought one little thing of cocktail sauce and a little container and this boil cooked old bay so I started on my shrimp. I took the glove off because it was ridiculous. You can't shell a shrimp without being able to feel what you're pulling off, well shrimp I noticed my shrimp has shit in it(it wasn't deveined). I looked at my sister and I said when have you ever gotten shrimp and a boil shrimp. In a restaurant andthey don't divine? So I told the server look I have about eight shrimp here that have not been deveined. So she takes some back and brings them back out to me at this point. We're just ready to pack up what we have and leave. I had to warn the table booth in front of us. Don't order the order the shrimp because they do not devein the shrimp. First clue was it just looked dirty and rundown second clue the table was. I mean you guys take my word for it don't go here. We couldn't even crack the clause of the crab because they were either over steamed or old crabs. There was nothing to snap. I think the health department needs to go out there don't bother wasting your money. And apparently the supervisor wasn't gonna come over and talk to me and it's funny because the table behind my sister when we first got there were complaining about the crabs. There was no meat there should've been more crab so she wouldn't come over to my table,

Yelp
That special 88 sauce hits. The food was sooo yummy and the service was excellent. I am beyond ecstatic that someone suggested this place. My mouth and tummy are happy.

Yelp
We stopped here to meet up with a friends on our way through Tennessee. The food was pretty inexpensive especially for the amount that you get. And it was tasty. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I had a catfish basket and the fish pieces were bigger than I expected. My friend got the shrimp boil with medium heat and really thought they were good with good spice level. Her husband got snow crab, which he enjoyed. Their kids got a chicken tender basket that had enormous tenders on it. Hubbo really liked the hush puppies (he's a fanatic). The fries were the weakest link. The white sangria was also a winner.

Jay G.

Yelp
This place has great boils and the atmosphere is great too. We go every time we come to town.

Megan S.

Yelp
This restaurant charges an 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more! Essentially large families or groups are penalized for eating together. Our family then asked to sit in different tables and asked if they could put us close together, they literally seated each of the groups in 3 different sections of the restaurant. So a party of 12, 8 of which are children, would have been penalized to sit together. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Tonight we came in for dinner for the second last. The last time we were here was a year ago and I regret not leaving a review then! Where to start?! Well, our waitress, Kym was kind and informative. She helped us make choices that resulted in another fabulous meal here. She was quick with refills and didn't wait until we had our mouths full to ask how our meal was. I love that! We ordered a boil with crab, green mussels, andouille, corn, potato, shrimp and eggs with medium heat. We also ordered a fried food basket. It had fries, chicken, catfish and oysters. Everything was hot and fresh and delicious!

Kristi H.

Yelp
Food was amazing! The crab legs were sweet and shrimp were so good. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Tara B.

Yelp
They require masks when you walk in. This place could do a far better job at socially distancing. We were in a good spot sitting in of the booth. The people who were seated at tables were literally within elbow's room if each other. I ordered the Famous Low Country Boil. Comes with 1/2 lb of crab, 1/2 lb shrimp no head, sausage, corn, potato, and boiled egg. Seasoned with 88 special, hot. The food was seasoned great and the hot definitely had some heat behind it. I was not a fan of the sausage. It definitely wasn't beef; it was either turkey or a very cheap brand. I thought only adding one potato was hella cheap. I mean, it's a potato and it's super cheap. Mind you, that's exactly how they advertise but I thought it'd be at least 3 of them. Lol. The one potato could have been cooked longer as it was undercooked. The beau ordered 1/2 lb shrimp head on, 1/2 lb green mussels and 1/2 snow crab. It came with corn and a potato. He was surprised that the sausage wasn't included since a similar place back home always includes corn, potatoeS and sausage. After tasting my sausage he was ok with them not being included. Overall good place and I would come back if in town.

Yelp
My favorite seafood restaurant. Service was great and fast Great restaurant can't wait to go back
google avatar

Don S.

Yelp
First I want to say that we went here with great anticipation looking for some great boiled seafood and in general the food was good. However it is a brand new location as of this writing and I think the staff is still catching their groove. Sometimes it took a while to get refills and getting the check took forever. They do offer 10% off if you post a check in on social media so that is a welcomed discount. The problems that I have are mostly related to the menu. There is NOTHING green on the whole menu. No slaw, no salad, no green beans or anything else other than starches. The sides are potatoes, other potatoes such as fries, different fries, and corn. All of those are carb heavy and it would be super nice if they added something for those of us that are a little more health conscious. I had crab legs that were good as were my wife shrimp. But having a side salad or some slaw etc would have gone a long way.
google avatar

Mario B.

Yelp
I come here at least once a month and the staff is always great, however the bartender was rude to me. I was sitting down for dinner and asked for a shot of Johnny Walker blue, it was served in a glass with lipstick on it. Also I was asked if I knew how much it was, I've ordered before the same drink and never been asked if I know how much the drink is. The bartender swapped glasses and didn't even apologized for serving drinks in dirty glasses. Basically slammed the glass on my table and said nothing. It's really sad that one person can change your opinion of an establishment. I finished my meal and politely asked to speak to the manager, to whom I complained about the lady's attitude.

Yelp
This was my first time at Pier 88! Our waiter was great! There was also no wait on this Wednesday evening. I ordered the feast (not sure if that's the accurate name) but it was a boil that came with crab legs, shrimp, sausage and corn. For an appetizer we got the buffalo fried shrimp. The shrimp were so good and so was the boil. The only thing about the boil was that it wasn't as hot (temperature wise) as i would've liked it. I attempted to get our waiters attention but he didn't see me and headed towards the kitchen. I just decided to eat it. It was very good. Just wished it had been a little warmer. I also ordered a margarita. It was also very tasty! Will def go back!
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
Recommended by a coworker while on a business trip. So our group decided to try out Pier 88. The raw oysters appetizer was spot on with saltine crackers, fresh horseradish, and hot sauce. The Low County Boil with Cajun seasoning was outstanding! I'll definitely be eating here the next time in Chattanooga TN!

Abigail F.

Yelp
They need some new upholstery in the booths. And, I smelled concentrated Fabuloso, the whole time I sat there. Most unpleasant.
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
I was greeted immediately by the hostess that sat me in the bar area in a booth as I requested. My waitress Neisha came to the table and was very friendly. I spotted the Long Island Iced Tea on the menu and also got crawfish popcorn to pick at before ordering their signature seafood boil that comes with snow crab legs, 1/2 lb. craniumless shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, one potato, and a boiled egg?? Ok sure. Never had a boil with an egg. The whole meal was great. The 88 sauce was definitely the right choice and medium spice was perfect. Shrimp was perfect crab was perfect potato was nice and soft, corn still had some crunch but good flavor sausage was tasty. The egg went great with the meal all washed down with a Long Island ice tea. 5 out of 5 for the food, service, ambiance, and Beetlejuice on the tv. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Chattanooga!! Nuff said. Thanks.

Yelp
Oooooffff Best place ever I love it. There is a wait time (came at a busy time) i would call ahead. You can order it to go! Wait time was 12 minutes for us. Food : Half a pound of shrimp boil (Cajun & garlic butter) medium spice - juicy and the best combo of spices. It really will make you lick your fingers. Explosion of flavors. Not kidding , if you want any spicyness I recommend higher than medium. It didn't really seem hot to me. The food was so good I kinda forgot it was supposed to be spicy. Crab legs: friend ordered this and it was part of the $24.95 plate that came with sausage and boiled eggs , crab legs, corn and a potato. Not the places fault but be aware crab legs are not all the same per order of course so we were blessed with almost empty crab legs and the sausage was a bit too greasy for our taste. (Added half a pound of shrimp) Cajun fries- delicious by themselves but I recommend adding it to the plate so it'll soak up the juices if your boil. Adds the perfect flavor I added the extras- fries and the corn but the boil comes with one corn and one potato. I'm telling y'all the flavor is all in the boil. Let your extras soak in it. Fantastic food.

Yelp
Lobster and crab legs are my favorite foods and I have eaten both at many restaurants in many cities, in my life. At Pier 88 I had to send both back since I couldn't bear the smell or the taste. This is the first time I have ever sent any restaurant food back. I had to come home and wash my hands with lemon juice to try to get rid of the smell. It was so disgusting, I almost threw up. It was supposed to be in a garlic butter liquid but it was brown and reeked of filthy water. It's going to be quite a while to get that smell out of my head. I saved a piece of lobster and put it in the freezer in case my husband or I get really sick. I don't know if we had our food poisoned or if someone steam boiled it in garbage or toilet water or what. Now, it's probably going to be a very long time before I can eat crab or lobster anywhere.

Abdul E.

Yelp
Went to pick up carry out order. Charged my credit card twice and kept arguing it did not go through. Presented coupon and told for carry out only but that it does not state that in the coupon. See pictures. I have used their coupons in the past for carry out without any issues. Customers beware!!!!!

Yelp
Best seafood boil restaurant I have ever been to. Great service and tasty food! Started off with some onion rings and mozzarella cheese sticks. The onion rings were great. Thinly sliced onions with a light batter...super good. The cheese sticks tasted like they were just heated up. Cool...not their thing, I get it. Ordered the bag with 1/2lb snow crab legs, 1/2lb (no head) shrimp...came with 1/2lb sausage, one corn, one tater, and one boiled egg (yup, a boiled egg). We chose the cajun seasoning and the mild heat level (so my awesome wife could enjoy the shrimp). This was some down right good food and it was at a great price! If you're ever in Chattanooga and you just need to have some tasty boiled seafood. Get yourself over to Pier 88, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The seafood is expensive and nasty! The place is really empty The service is mediocre (Katie or KAitlin) The try to charge one pound more of mussels Take care I see a few reviews that the restaurant charges extra food or tips that costumer didn't put, it's a fraud !

Yelp
Pretty good. We got the 88 special seasoning which I think is the way to go. My husband and I (mainly me) were able to eat it all, but I think it's a good size for 3 people. Flavor was great, I don't think it was a pound of crab meat though. We only got 2 legs and I grew up eating crab pots in the PNW, but that's my only complaint.

Yelp
WARNING. They lowered the portions on the boil bags and increased the price. AVOID THEM. Not with 68 dollars for what you can get for 15 at the seafood counter at Publix.

Yelp
Decent food. I didn't order the boiled food, which is probably why I don't know if this is a fair review, but the sauce was good for the oyster po boy. I wish we could rate the waitresses- Anjel gets 5 stars all the way.

Yelp
I don't normally write bad reviews but last nights experience took the cake. Loud obnoxious staff sat behind us the entire meal so loud and using offensive language so much so at one point I had to turn around and say excuse me do you not see me and my children sitting here? They were completely oblivious to the paying customers in the very next booth. Management did nothing. Service was slow and food was soso. With so many seafood options in Chattanooga this should be your last choice. Horrible!!

Yelp
Covid precautions were great this is purely about the food, call me a southern snob but you don't boil all your seafood in one pot and dump a bunch of oily crap on it with different seasonings or flavors, the worst boiled crab legs and shrimp I have ever had. Not to mention the fried crawfish no flavor what so ever tasted like bkan calamari, very bland and tasteless. May I suggest Crab Boil, Tony Chachere, or even Slap Yo Mama. The heat should depend on the amount of seasoning, not what ever you dump on it....
