UPDATE: After my 2 🌟 review, the general manager reached out and sent me a very generous gift card to give them a chance to make it right. I was a little concerned when there wasn't a hostess at the stand and I had to wander into the bar and wait awkwardly for a bartender to notice me and get me seated with my family. It was also strangely empty for 7:30 on a Thursday. But from there, it all got better!
Brennan's service was impeccable AND he had personality. We got oysters on the half shell, fritto misto di mare and baked pimento cheese (the smoked grapes are to live for!) for apps. All were delicious. For entrees, both the ribeye and the filet were chef's kiss. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I got the mushrooms as a side, but was surprised they didn't come in any sort of sauce or even a little butter. Kind of strange, but I ate them. They were fine. The sablefish entree was a no according to my mom and my brother was underwhelmed by the wild boar.
For dessert, my birthday (do-over) was actually acknowledged this time and we went with Brennan's suggestions (he was kind enough to throw in two!) of cinnamon apple crostata and eggnog bread pudding. Both were very yummy, but it was the apple one for the win. All in all, the fine dining experience you'd expect from Pierpont's if you stick to the steaks and the appetizers.

Today was truly disappointing. This was supposed to be a birthday brunch celebration and I was let down on every level. The server never even acknowledged my birthday until she dropped the credit cards off at the end of the (so bad that it was taken off my check) meal. That just made it worse, because at that point I assumed the hostess failed to mention it to her. Why even ask if there's a celebration if you don't at the very LEAST say happy birthday to me at some point during the two hours I'm there? Her service just got weird after I complained about the crabcake. She seemed green and scared or anxious, I'm not sure. It was awkward for everyone.
I ordered the "crabcake" eggs Benedict and they came out lukewarm (as did both of the steaks ordered at the table) and with this weird tablespoon of crab mixture that hadn't seen a hot skillet at all. It was most definitely NOT a crabcake. I only gave two stars, instead of one, because the manager did have the kitchen refire the plate. It was nice and hot the second time around but my eggs weren't poached the way I ordered, there was even less crab "mix" and the breakfast potatoes, which were the highlight of the original plate (along with the delicious hollandaise), were neither hot, nor crispy. Manager asked if I wanted to reorder but I declined. Everyone else was done eating and I was over it.
Pierpont's could learn a lot from Eddie V's about how to make a birthday girl feel special AND feed her a great meal! For the prices they are charging, they need to step it up. This has long been a favorite of mine but I don't think I'll be back. If I were you, I wouldn't "celebrate" a birthday here.
