Yelp
Atlanta has a serious problem. It believes that it knows bbq and has some authority to write Yelp reviews on such.
I have had the fortune of traveling outside of Atlanta for some cue. My eyes were opened, I saw the light, that good cue is done in a smoker, for many, many hours, till the meat itself is the focal point of bbq, not the sauce. When you drive past these places, you smell the cue long before you get to the doors, it's this first experience that begins your lunch or dinner journey. When the meat is so tender, especially on a rib, that a plastic fork is all you need, it shaves off the ribs and you see the juices, and you can TASTE both the the quality of the meat itself.....smokey flavor infused into the meat, while retaining original moist, texture qualities... THAT is cue, only best described in a run on sentence.
I had both the pulled bork and the ribs right before the lunch crowd, on a Saturday. The meat was not at all as I described above. It was only edible. It was not three star, it did not melt in my mouth, nor do I believe it had the capability to do so. The quality of the meat was just not there, nor was anything reflected in the meat of the cooking process.
As for the sauce, now if I could just rate a sauce, I'd give it 4.5 stars. I do like a variety of sauces, and while this is a sweet full sauce, I really dig it. I could buy a bottle, but never darken the actual doors of the place again.
I pray for you, Atlanta, that you will find the holy grail of cue, Pig N Chik does not hold it.
