A Bar Serving Oysters and Fish and Chips Opens Inside Pike Brewing - Eater Seattle

"Pike Brewing Company, the go-to spot for Pike Place Market visitors looking to experience a little Pacific Northwest beer culture with its brewery tours and microbrewery museum, recently opened a new restaurant serving fish and chips, oysters, and other seafood-focused bar snacks inside its brewery. Pike Fish Bar is located in the former space of Tankard and Tun, another seafood restaurant that closed during the pandemic. Compared to its predecessor, Pike Fish Bar has a narrower, more casual menu that’s mainly focused on panko-crusted fish and chips — with options for fried rockfish, cod, salmon, shrimp, and oysters. It’s also serving salads (with an option to add fish), pretzels, po’ boys, burgers, and clam and crab chowder, with a daily selection of oysters on the half shell." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart

We were immediately greeted and sat, the host who was also our server was very nice, made suggestions and was friendly as well! We tried some of their brewed beverages and they were tasty! Had a good selection of house brewed drinks and offer a full bar! He even shared where they get the seafood and have lots of local and Alaska options! We got the shrimp Po Boy, Shrimp cocktail and blackened salmon fish tacos! All good and my favorite were the tacos! Packed full, good portions and flavor too! Would recommend and come back!

The upstairs was full, so we went downstairs and discovered this place! Since it was sunny, the view from the window was great, and the food was delicious! In particular, the fish and chips were crispy and reminded me of Japanese tonkatsu. they were really tasty.

Sorry, I am a little behind on my reviews. This review is from September 23rd. We met up with family Frank from the airport. They wanted to go to Pike Place first thing. Had a great visit but our lunch at Pike Fish will have no great memories. The service was very slow. Arms out was busier than normal for a Monday afternoon so staff was limited. Finally the guy stocking the bar came and got out order. Out of the dark beers we wanted so we had to drink an ale. Food arrived, burnt. Never saw a wait person again until presented with the check. I guess seeing plates work hardly eaten food was not something they were trained to look for. Never asked how we liked our meal. We figured no use telling deaf ears. Like other places at Pike Place it had good atmosphere ands fun views. Too bad the food and beer sucked.

We spent a perfect day on the Seattle waterfront and ended it with an amazing meal at Bike Fish Bar. Their fish and chips are crispy, golden batter with fresh fish inside, and the fries were cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and quick. If you’re in Seattle, this spot is a must-visit for seafood lovers!

Google
Totally exceeded our expectations! Thought it might just be a regular fish and chips place but nope, the food and service blew us away 😋 Love the captain's platter with fish, shrimps and clams! Don't miss the yummy clam chowder and huge selection of draft beer! Our favourites are the Space Needle IPA and Monk's Uncle triple ale 🍺

Google
Don’t underestimate the food in what you think may be a tourist trap type of spot. The food is really good. I highly recommend the crab cakes and the crab chowder. The blackened salmon fish tacos were really good too. They have rotating ciders. If you’re lucky, you’ll find a table by the window. If you’re really lucky the sun will be out for you. Access from 1st Ave. On a Tuesday afternoon they seemed kind of short staffed but still took great care of us. Cheers!

Google
This is a good place to get Fish and Chips. The fish is very good and the service is very good too. The server was friendly and cheerful. We got a side salad instead of the chips and the salad was very fresh and we were glad we got the salad. We did not know that there was an up charge for the substitution until we got the bill though. We were happy to pay it but it would have been nice to know beforehand though.

Visited here twice in Nov '24 and Jan '25. Both were fantastic. Cram chowder soup was especially amazing.. Exceptional...

Yelp
Really nice fried cod and beer selection. Outstanding service and nice atmosphere. The waitress was really good.

Yelp
Good food, Service = long wait for meals and bill, Great location We spent the day in downtown Seattle and decided to eat near Pike Market. Stopped in Pike Fish Bar for some chowder, ceviche and nacho chips, and tacos. The food was pretty good, but each plate came out separately and the chowder ended up being lukewarm with the delays. Twice, I had to approach the service staff-- once for food and once for the bill after waiting for ~20 minutes after finishing all our food. In all, we waited ~25 minutes to be seated in a half-empty restaurant at an off time with three service staff, and a total of almost two hours from when we entered to when we finally were able to pay and leave. On the plus side, it is a cool spot, convenient to Pike Market and the Waterfront, and the food is reasonably good. Just have to score the service lower to be accurate and honest.

Yelp
The atmosphere was cool. We got the Fried cod, which was rubbery and my husband ended up spitting out half of it. I thought he was joking but I tried it myself and I also could not chew through it. 2 stars for food 4 stars for atmosphere

Yelp
RUDE EMPLOYEES!! Ask a question and they are downright rude Asked about a menu item and they shut us down and said the description is on the menu Do you want it?
google avatar

Yelp
We came here around 3:00 pm on a Friday afternoon , we were seated right away (no line at all). There were 4 of us. Service was friendly. We all ordered different items off the menu. Some food was good some was bad or inconsistent.... My fries were cold / warm, my husband's fries were freshly hot so my fries really sucked. I had 6 piece shrimp meal and the shrimp were overcooked and the breading was so hard like dried fried chicken - disgusting. My husband and cousins enjoyed their food. When we left there was a long line of diners. I think they're only here because they're tourists but I highly doubt the locals eat here. I won't come back to this restaurant on my next visit.

Yelp
We got to try a sample of the fried fish on a food tour of Seattle and ended up going back later to done. There's plenty of seating inside and a little area outside the restaurant but still indoors in the shopping plaza. The fish and chips were really good with an ice cold beer. We would never have even discovered Pike Fish Bar if it wasn't for the tour! I would definitely recommend for some fish and chips with some beer.

Yelp
As soon as I landed in Seattle, I was craving fish and chips. I found myself suddenly starving after wandering Pike Place market for hours, and I was immediately overwhelmed by the massive food lines inside of the market. I happened to stumble over into the Pike Fish Bar, and I'm so glad I did. The space at the bar is tiny, so there was a long line waiting to be seated at lunchtime. They also have a pub downstairs, but I didn't check it out. We were able to squeeze in at the bar. We of course had to go for the cod fish and chips, and we added some fried shrimp. The food came out lightning quick despite how busy the restaurant was! The breading was perfectly crisp, and the seafood was fresh. Exactly what I wanted out of my fish and chips experience! Highly recommend this as a great Pike Place fueling option!

Yelp
On a crazy crowded Saturday morning, I was looking for a place to sit down and grab a quick lunch. When you walk in, walk downstairs for a funky little brew pub with amazing bartenders. These ladies were WERKING it! The cup of chowder was really tasty and the fried rockfish sandwich (I added a few splashes of hot sauce) was super crispy and delicious. Their Pike Brewing Pale Ale was terrific. This place is a welcome respite from the crazy crowds.

Yelp
I wanted another cup of chowder somewhere before leaving Seattle and I read about this hot spot also their price for a cup was cheaper than most places. I waited in line for the host and then decided to take a spot at the bar. I was helped asap and the soup also came out immediately. It was one of the better chowders I have had. I hate when it's very thick almost sticky and this is the opposite! Felt clean to eat and delicious and served hot! Delicious! Super friendly staff! The interior is eye catching almost like a beer museum:)

Yelp
Amazing buffalo shrimp!!! Fish and chips looked great as well. Great environment and great service

Yelp
Fast service! I didn't like seeing a wall but the close seating allowed us to chat with people beside us. John ordered cod fish and chips and I went eclectic with a pretzel, clam chowder, an ale beer, and 2 fresh oysters. Everything thing was good but beer was cool not cold and one oyster was soft and not the greatest whereas the second one was excellent. I'd check other places to eat next time.

Yelp
Went here yesterday for lunch and it was really good! There wasn't a lot of people and we were told to sit wherever. We ordered chips and pico for an app and fish and chips for our meal. Food came out really fast and it was hot! Service was okay, once they brought our food they never came back to see if we needed anything else like at all so that kinda sucked. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars but other than that, everything was great! The place is kinda small but very cool and clean.

Yelp
Great location right in Pike's Place - maybe a bit quieter than the crowded part below so that's a plus. I think we all ordered fish and chips and a few beers here and there. All delicious with great service. Would try again if we find ourselves in Seattle.
google avatar

Meng Z.

Yelp
Solid fish and chips spot! Fish and chips were nicely made and love that it included a side a coleslaw to balance out the fried items. Clam chowder was also good, it's definitely very interesting that the chowders they have here includes bacon pieces in it. Great ambiance with plenty of seatings. We did take out since we were in a rush and it was helpful that they have an abundance amount of seatings right outside the restaurant.

Yelp
Went to pike market a little late and had trouble finding a place that wasn't about to close when we happened upon this place and even made it for happy hour! The oysters tasted super fresh and the cod was really flakey and crispy. Loved their tartar sauce too.

Yelp
Quieter than the public market, but the same amazing food. It's a small location, probably about 15 tables, but any small wait is worth it. We were sat after about a 10 minute wait, and had almost no wait for the waitstaff to see to us. The menu is simple, it's mostly fish & chips, with salads, oysters and burgers available. We ordered fish and chips, a salad and a cup of chowder. The cod was delectably flaky and crisp with no fishiness at all, I thought it tasted amazing as did the house salad with goat cheese and champagne dressing. The chowder was a touch salty, but otherwise as simply delicious. This will be our place to get fish and chips when in the Seattle area.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch at Pike Fish Bar. It's a nice restaurant at the end of the The Pikes Place Market. I ordered a bowl of the crab chowder in the bread bowl while my daughter got the fish and chips. Both were very good. Service was ok considering that it wasn't very busy. Overall it was a good place.
google avatar

Yelp
The portion sizes were large and the fish n chips were amazing. I can definitely say that the cod was fried to perfection. I added the Bonache habanero sauce to the tartar sauce and this took it to another level!!!! We had crab chowder that was so flavorful, even the doubters at the table were impressed. This visit was a win! The place is small, but we were able to get seated right away.

Yelp
I was out walking around the Public Market when the mood for fish and chips hit. This was very close and featured craft beer so it made it an obvious choice to stop in. We ordered the cod fish and chips as there were several options - rockfish, shrimp, soft shell crab as other options. We also each ordered a beer from the Pike Brewing company the Layer Up double IPA and the Cosmic PulpJuicy IPA. The layer up was excellent but the Juicy just was a generic IPA - hops hitting you right in the mouth. None of the fruit flavor they said would be there. I like to call these IPAs aggressively average and in the Pacific Northwest every brewery shits out IPAs so you really need to mail your flavors if you want to stand out- otherwise it's hipster mouthwash. The fish and chips were excellent. Crispy outside, flaking inside on the cod and the tartar sauce was excellent. The fries were also hot and tasted made to order. Service was friendly and fast. Where this place falls short, was really the beer. I was disappointed with the hazy IPA and think it needed more of the fruit as I mentioned. Would eat here again for sure, especially when I find myself next at the market.

Yelp
Hard to find. Service was mediocre. The clam chowder was amazing. Fish was bland. I would come back for the clam chowder, not for the fish.
google avatar

Bik T.

Yelp
Breaded fish, shrimp and clams are too hard and the batter too thick. Will not come again.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and great service. We had Emma who was a real doll and a great waitress. Tried the rockfish which came with fries and slaw and everything was very delicious.
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
We had a great meal at Pike Fish Bar. I had the cod fish & chips, my husband had the burger, and my four-year-old had the hot dog. All the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Our server was very friendly, too. We arrived promptly when it opened on a weekday so there was no wait, and the restaurant was nice and quiet.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Outstanding food a service. Atmosphere was fun with lots of old items collected by the owners. Beer is made in house and is very good. Looking forward to my next visit

Charlotte M.

Yelp
Had a fantastic time at the bar with Tara and Leigh (Lee). They brought great energy and had great service. The drinks were great and the oysters were super fresh
google avatar

Brad F.

Yelp
Service was quick and our waitress was friendly and gave us good advise on what to chose. She recommended the cod fish and chips. The food was really good. All of it. The mustard with the soft pretzel was excellent. The fish was breaded great and had great flavor. Their tartar sauce was great. You get two pieces of fish which are the size of a deck of cards. For the price, it should come with a little more fish. The decor is pretty typical for being close to the ocean. I would have given it four stars if the portions were a little bigger. OH, the beer was great!

Yelp
A small but quaint and atmospheric fish restaurant on level 1 of pike place. If walking on 1st street enter Milagros Mexican folk art for nice look a beautiful but way overpriced mexican folk art and exit though the back door and this is right in front of you. They have a ton of beer on tap and while I did not order (too early and museum tour coming up) I was told it was excellent by other patrons. The place is very nice and welcoming and you can catch a view of the sound from some tables. I had a clam chowder and the fish and chips. The clam chowder was outstanding but you should know they add bacon to it. I love that addition and will remember this as I don't see it done often but it was amazing and full of complex flavors. For the fish and chips you can get 2 different types of fish rock or cod. We got the rock fish and it tasted great. Can also get shrimp in lieu of fish. The fries were a b-or c You order at the table using an app your stuff appears. You also pay on the app. If tech is not your thing you can order at the bar and pay there. I will certainly come back here as it's a very nice casual place for seafood. They close at 7 so early dinner only.

Yelp
Good fish, not great. The service is really good! Very nice location...Pike Place Market is always wonderful.

Kelsey P.

Yelp
Oysters on the half shell exactly how we like- mignonette vinegar and shallots. I liked my cocktail, husband liked his cod fish and chips.
google avatar

Lyndsay G.

Yelp
The service was great and the ambiance is fun. Typical bar food. We got the fish and chips and it was fine.
google avatar

Ar Bear I.

Yelp
Had rock cod fish and chips, so tasty with a nice crunch. Crab chowder was flavorful with a nice mixture of herbs. The server seemed preoccupied while taking our order. He kept looking at the other tables. Tables and chairs are placed close together but it fits the casual atmosphere.
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
Food, service, and atmosphere were good but not mind blowing great. The ciders were good though.

Venado C.

Yelp
Do not go to this place for fish and chips. Burnt, uniform overcooked pieces of tasteless fish with soggy fries...Ultimate overpriced tourist trap. Go to the Athenian in Pikes Place for a much better experience with an awesome view. The service here was good however...for the record.
google avatar

Micah K.

Yelp
This is small little restaurant near pike place which serves a few seafood items. It seems like they are mainly known for their fish n chips. You can choose how you want them which was nice! For the fish n chips you can choose rockfish, cod, shrimp or oysters to have with your chips. The food was good and I enjoyed the oyster fish n chips out of all the dishes I tried! The service was a bit slower since there was one server for all the tables. There was a good amount of beers on tap to combine with your meal too!
google avatar

Monroe J.

Yelp
12/29/2023 Ordered the 2 piece Cod fish and Chips. They have a crunchy Tamper batter. The staff is friendly and the food came out hot and fast. I would recommend this place for Fish and Chips.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
My wife and I were at the public market looking for simple seafood and stumble on Pike's fish bar. Exactly what we wanted fried seafood and fries. We ordered the shrimp and rockfish and shared. The rockfish was amazing, fresh and flaky. The shrimp hands down was the best fried shrimp I've ever had. The breading on both was perfect. But it's not fish and chips without the fries and those exactly what you needed to tie this plate together fresh and fried to perfection. We came to Seattle for baseball but will be back for this place

Shirley G.

Yelp
Ambiance feels like rustic country style and wish for a live band. I would considered below average for Fish and Chips with rockfish. Reason for the battered skin falls apart from the meat and the rockfish was blend or doesn't seems to be seasoned. I had to add salt. Crab chowder somehow taste savory though. Oysters were fresh. The lemon garlic shrimp was good yet didn't have garlic taste anywhere. Service was pretty attentive.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Drinks here were amazing! Everyone loved sitting here before a show at the showbox. Order your food on your phone or at the bar.

Kiara P.

Yelp
They could have some more simple menu options. The service is nice but could be funner. The atmosphere is ok but they could have more places spread out.

L P.

Yelp
Love this place! Bomb food (can you say BAJA fish tacos?!), great drinks (I am a big beer guy and they have some AWESOME brews on tap!), super cool location (RIGHT in the market!), and an amazing ambiance (TV is often playing Seinfeld :P). Shout out the bartender Angelo -- great service and he taught me about the difference between rockfish and cod LOL.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
I've never had Fish & chips like this. The spot is small and quaint. We sat ourselves and our waiter promptly came on over. We ordered calamari to start. It was extra crispy and needed no sauces. We did squeeze lemon on it but wow! We ordered two kinds of Fish & chips: rockfish and cod. Every bite was so crisp and fresh. The house made tartar sauce was perfection too. The cod was the best ever. It was such a thick and juicy cut. And not too much batter either. The perfect ratio.
google avatar

Donald H.

Yelp
What's a fish bar without a proper fish sandwich! Put a crispy flakey piece of fish between a Macrina brioch bun and you really can't go wrong. Not the best I've had (could use some kick) but certainly a good choice.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Small portions, slow service, bad service and somewhat expensive for the quantity, burger was good but not worth $19 bucks! The restaurant was clean, our waitress was not attentive. Probably won't be back. Or recommend to others.

Lars W.

Yelp
I had Fish and chips at the Fish Bar yesterday and both were delicious. The fish was moist and enclosed in a nicely crisp crust that was not overly bready. It was served very hot with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce along with a small serving of slaw. The fries were nicely salty and served a good counter point to the Kilt lifter beer that I had. The space had great natural light from floor to ceiling west facing windows. Service was excellent.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
We had great, attentive service and good food and taps here. I was hungry but didn't want a ton of food. The server and gm let me order from the children's menu. I also got a side salad that was delicious. We sat at a window table which was a plus to our Seattle experience.

Don D.

Yelp
Great fish and chowder. I had rockfish and chips. Great, fresh fish with a fairly thick Panko type batter, perfectly fried. The fries were good. My wife had clam chowder. It was excellent. Very well seasoned. A special shoutout to Emily. Great server, very attentive and knowledgeable. I don't think that the business's downstairs are wheelchair accessible. But the vibe in the upstairs area is great. Beer was good, but not memorable. ( I am an Oregon ipa snob).
google avatar

Sy F.

Yelp
Here for a work trip. Love coming down here for the food. This was our first time eating here. We were greeted immediately by the kind lady. The food was great as well. Really enjoyed the crab chowder and fresh oysters!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here after a long flight with a friend recommendation. Nothing fancy but everything was delicious. Give it a try

Yelp
Good food and drink.Have a adulting glass of wine and oysters and you won't be disappointed.they also make their own beer and the staff is friendly
