Legitimately one of the best chowders I’ve had. There is another location if this one gets too crowded.

If I were EPIK HIGH, I would eat here.

Late post: Nov 9 Tried to go to the location at the market, but the rain and LONG line, plus some kind officers sent us to this location. Food: was delicious. We were hungry and it hit the spot. We should have tried their chowder flight but didn't notice until we ordered. The lobster roll was good, it needed something though either butter or seasoning, but something. Service and atmosphere: location is within the mall, so don't expect the service or location to be stellar. It did get us out of the rain and we were able to sit.

Google
A small fast-food shop in a half - empty ( although still nicely run) Pacific Place shopping mall, also connected with Nordstrom. Less crowded and less chowder options, but a great place to give it a first try. Salmon chowder + fish & chips combo tastes good!

Google
I really like this place. The lobster rolls are delicious and so is their clam chowder. The fries were also yummy (although a bit salty). I like coming back here when I’m in the area to get good clam chowder and lobster rolls. As for the restaurant itself, I like the old-school decorations of the restaurant. They have bar seating around the restaurant and right outside the main restaurant there are tables you can sit at too. The service was good. I didn’t have to wait long at all for my food on Thursday lunchtime.

Google
This is a fast food style food store selling clam chowder and lobster rolls. I came here for lunch, ordered a medium clam chowder and large lobster roll. Both are just OK. The bread of lobster roll was just warm and the lobster is cold. The prices were at the high end. I paid $50+ for both.. it is relatively expensive for a fast food style lunch. 😅😅😅

10/10. I've always been curious about seafood bisque and chowders but wanted to wait till I was in a seafood city. The seafood bisque was great, Manhatten bisque was wonderful too, idk everything was great i had no complaints. I would come back for the rolls next time!!

Google
Located on the top floor of mall type building, it is definitely not as busy as the other location. You can order ahead and pick it up if it is a busy weekend rush hour. I grew up eating clam chowders in Monterey Bay, CA so I can be snobbish when it comes to chowders. The traditional didn't disappoint. In fact, I ate the entire bread bowl as well. It's thick and filled w lots of vegetables. I definitely would recommend this if you're visiting Seattle as well!

Samantha

Google
Went during happy hour and got the clam chowder and the single cod with fries. The clam chowder came with a small slice of bread. It was so good! Would very much suggest this to people to try, especially if they like clam chowder! I really wanted the bread bowl but couldn't see spending that much on it. It's in a mall setting, so that's the atmosphere.

Google
It located in a shopping mall, may not offer the same vibrant atmosphere as Pike Place Market, but it more than makes up for it with quick service and satisfying food. I tried the clam chowder sampler and love three out of the four varieties. The lobster roll is also recommended😋

Yelp
Service is fast. Seating is limited. Food is by far the best I've tried. I absolutely loved it

Yelp
On Jan. 1 was visiting Seattle and was excited to enjoy some chowder and fish. Noticed their shop outside the movie theater. Frankly it was so, so. Was more like just fast food not much more. I'm sure it was very good at one time. The cod was more breadcrumbs and hot oil, with minimal cod; frankly inedible. Chowder was OK. I thought it would be great and I wish I went somewhere else and ate a salad.

Yelp
Do NOT get the lobster roll. But let's review the chowder first. Ok first of all, the chowder is pretty good albeit a little overpriced. For a very small cup it's about $10. There are a lot of stuff in the chowder and most of them are not just potatoes so it's good chowder. Because of the rich cream flavor it's hard to say whether it's better than other chowder places but it's decent. However do not get the lobster roll. It's extremely expensive at about $35 for 1/4lb and $60 for 1/2lb but they only gives you claw meat. I mean it's literally ALL small lobster claw meat so it's way way way overpriced because the best part of the lobster is the tail meat. It's cheating to say you are selling lobster roll when all you give is lobster claw meat. Also the claws are tiny so they are from sub-1lb lobsters which are extremely cheap. For them to charge $36-$50 for the rolls is just ridiculous. Also the Connecticut lobster roll is kinda sour and really not delicious. The line can be long and the interior place is really small. Outside area is also tiny so I don't recommend any large party to come here. You line up and pay at the counter and then almost immediately you get your food so it's fairly efficient. I do not like the they do the same kiosk trip of asking you for 18%, 20%, 25% tips by default for a basically togo place with basically no additional service. Overall it's a tourist trap and if you have to go just order the chowder and get your actual meal somewhere else.

Yelp
I first visited this place a while ago when I was doing a walking food tour near pike place market. My and my friend tried the chowder here as a part of the food tour. I tried the vegetarian chowder and my friend tried the regular chowder. We both loved it. I went back couple of times to get vegetarian chowder, and the people I went with took something else and we always have been so happy with our food. They some good amount of seating but could get full during busy times. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
My friend came to Seattle and requested to go here. I typically avoid Pikes Place but now this is one of the places that I will definitely be bringing friends and family to when they come visit. To avoid standing in line in the rain we placed an online mobile order and it'll give you an est. Time to pick up or a text when it's ready. During this time you can walk around and once you get the text you can pick up at their second window down the hallway. There's not a ton of seatings; you can hover around until the tables open up or take it to the waterfront and enjoy the view with a meal which we did We ordered the sampler that came with 4 different 6oz chowder: clam chowder, seafood bisque, smoked salmon chowder, and crab&oyster chowder. Which came with a tiny piece of sour dough and some crackers - this is perfect if you never tried but want a variety of choices Overall - great chowder, great staff members and love the mobile order pick up to avoid the long line

Yelp
I can confidently say that Pike Place Chowder is one of the best I've ever had! The broth is rich and creamy, the clams are tender and plentiful, and the flavors are perfectly balanced. Whether you're a local or just visiting Seattle, Pike Place Chowder is a must-visit for any seafood lover. Highly recommend lining up early that way you can be sure to have a table if not be prepared for a wait but trust me, it's worth it.

Yelp
The Famous Pike Place Chowder without the crowd of tourist, it's located inside a shopping mall with open space, clean, seating area. Menu is very simple, price point is ok. I order the sampler so as to try all the soups however I will be a Good Samaritan and save you the hassle go straight for the New England Clam Chowder it's magically delicious. Bread served with the sampler was nice and warm. Overall a great delicious experience. Staff was friendly, order take and number and they bring food to you.

Yelp
Wanted chowder yesterday but it was 11pm, dreamt all night of chowder. Today was the day but I kept getting distracted until I was able to fulfill my chowder dreams for dinner. It was in a bread bowl and didn't disappoint. Friendly service. This location is in a mall that is off the beaten path, next to Din Tai Fun so you're next to a "Michelin Star" restaurant, which means you're in a good spot.

Yelp
Pike Place Chowder is a popular place to go to in Seattle. During my visit there was a fairly long line, but it moved quickly. There are so many options and I couldn't decided which one to get so ended up getting the sampler. You can pick 4 6oz chowders from the list. I was happy with this choice and got the smoke salmon, seafood bisque, New England, and scallop. They were all good, creamy, and had lots of seafood. Seating is available inside and outside. If you want to skip the line, either come early or order online. There is a a separate area in the back to pickup online and phone orders.

Yelp
So delicious! For the large, it's $16 and it comes with two bread slices. If you want it in a bread bowl, it's a few dollars more and it's a smaller soup size. I recommend just soaking a piece of bread in the soup for longer, and it rides you a similar effect to the bread bowl. We tried the original clam chowder, scallop, and shrimp. All were amazing! Seating is limited but there are inside and outside options. It's easier to take your food and sit by the pier where the empty wooden tables are so you aren't rushed. Service is fast and friendly.

Yelp
I don't know where to start off so ill start by saying cchowder on a nice chilly day is perfect. Don't be alarmed when you see the line... it goes quickly...i promise. The only downside about this place is if you get a lobster roll that is $35. That is beyond ridiculous for the price. they do give a decent amount of lobster.
google avatar

Calvin L.

Yelp
We ordered the market chowder bowl and the lobster roll. We liked both items but wished we ordered a regular cup of chowder. The bread bowl soaked up too much of the soup and it got messy to eat towards the end. The service was really quick despite the place being small and having a long line. There was someone helping customers find spots to sit down. Just be courteous to others so they can have a spot to sit down when its their turn. The area is in an alley with lots of other places to eat. It was nice to sit down and enjoy the food.

Yelp
Seafood Bisque and Clam Chowder was all the hype! Sour dough bowl was fresh and delish. One word, delicious. This location is in the mall in case one was wondering. I'd love to come back and try the rolls and sandwiches.

Yelp
We got to Pike chowder right after opening (around 10:30am) and there was a sizable line. There was a worker at the line telling us that if we order online, we can "skip the line and the 45 min wait". Well, we wanted to experience the restaurant so we stood in line anyway. The wait wasn't bad, maybe 20 mins and we were able to order. We got the sourdough bread bowl and chowder. It looked amazing! Now after we got our food, there was no place to sit! The place is tiny only fitting maybe 20 people. You can sit outside on tables but that was full too. A worked said there were tables around the corner and we were lucky enough to find one. The chowder was overflowing and it was hot and tasty. Probably the best chowder I ever had. The sourdough top of the bowl tasted incredibly as you can dip it in the chowder. I didn't bother with the oyster crackers - no need. The only negative is that the spoons were super flimsy and it actually cracked in half when I tried to get some of the chowder and bread from the bottom. Overall, fantastic!!!!!! The next day - yes, the next day LOL, we were back! Ordered the same thing BUT ordered online since there are no tables available by the restaurant anyway. We were the first in line to get this delicious meal again. This time, the chowder was in a container and the bread bowl was separate. The first thing we noticed is that the chowder was lukewarm. The second was that they included all the bread that they took out from the inside. It was still connected to the top of the bread bowl. The lukewarm chowder was a minus, but the extra bread was a plus! It still tasted great but slightly worse due to the chowder not being hot. So order inside - wait longer - but no seating. OR order online and get lukewarm chowder but more bread. Still, this place is really, really good. Very tasty and worth going to. I loved it!

Yelp
The chowder here is amazing! I came here for a quick trip to Seattle and pike place closed super early. Luckily this location closes a lot later. We got the clam chowder which tasted amazing. It came with a side of bread. I would have loved the oyster crackers instead. I would definitely come back here again because the chowder is so delicious. It's very quick service. After we ordered, the food came out really quickly.

Yelp
Pike Place Chowder has so many options! unfortunately their classic clam chowder is only offered with bacon. lined the seafood and lobster bisque soups. small portions in the 4 soup sampler set, very delicious. the salmon and veggie bisques were ok but not my jam. comes with two bread slices. very busy spot on the center of Pike Place. great comfort food!!

Yelp
This was a stop on our chef-guided tour with Eat Seattle, and it was divine! We had been wanting to try clam chowder, but weren't sure we wanted a whole bowl. The sample was divine, and I wanted more! Apparently this chowder won the New England competition (judges' and crowd favorite) three years in a row and then got banned for ten years. Sore losers; step up your game, New England! Yum! Be sure to order online for pickup and save time in line when you're at the Market!

Yelp
Excellent value happy hour daily from 4-6pm! We came for lunch and I got a small New England clam chowder and it was just as fabulous as I remembered! It was so good, I returned a few hours later by myself to try out the happy hour. I got the cod and chips and seafood chowder at a fraction of the regular price. They also totally hit the spot! Bonus: this location seems to never have the line you will inevitably be in if you visit the Pike Place location. Prices are also a bit cheaper here and happy hour is only here too.

Yelp
best chowder in seattle, always hits and soo good with their sourdough bread. big clams, lots of fresh veggies and potatoes and very clean tasting while still being creamy. the regular new england chowder + a piroshky is my favorite way to eat it service is always great love that they will kick people out of chairs if they dont have food yet , makes room for people that actually have food waiting to sit. ive been here since i was a kid and have been eating here for over 20 years now and its never disappointed me.

Yelp
So this was our second trip to Seattle and the first time we went, we tried the other location of pike place chowder at pike place market which is also their original location and the one with the best reviews. This time we were staying at a hotel close to this location. I figured there was no difference and it would be the same recipe: I was wrong. The chowder was still good, but it was missing that little bit of fairy dust and magic we got from the other location. It went from America's best chowder down to a pretty good chowder. If you guys come to Seattle, I suggest trying this chowder but if you are able to, check out their first location that is right on the water.

Yelp
This place was on our foodie adventure list. This was our first time visiting Pikes and our friends recommended this place. We walked up and the line was long but it was moving pretty fast. Seating could be better but we expected it because it was outdoors and the area of Pikes was busy. It didnt take long to find seating to accommodate 6 of us. We ordered the lobster roll and the clam chowder. They were so delicious! My son loved the clam chowder and devoured it. The lobster roll was so good. One of the best I've had! So delicious! If you are visiting Seattle- add this place to your foodie adventure list- you wont be disappointed!

Yelp
Pike Place Chowder is one of the best clam chowder restaurants I've ever had (and I've had a lot). The flavor is on point, from the creaminess to the clams. I love that they offer several different kind of chowders and I've tried most of them, all of them are all delicious and amazing in their own flavor/taste. I bring a lot of my family/friends who visit, over here, when we're walking around Pike Place Market. It's no surprise to me that they've won ton of awards. The line is usually long, but the line goes by very fast. There's pretty limited seating, but sometimes if my group and I wait a few minutes, a table always clears up.
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
Came here 2x during a visit to Seattle. This location is much more manageable than the Pike Market one, as there is hardly a line and plenty of seating. I tried all of their chowders and liked the market one best, as it had cod. I tried them both in bread bowl form and in regular cup form, and the bread bowl really elevates the experience. I also had the Dungeness crab roll, which was solid. Service is friendly.

Yelp
This used to be the local secret alternative to the one at Post Alley where's always a crowd. Yes, the choices for chowder are less, but do you really want to taste 8 different kinds, instead of 4? What I usually come for is the fish-n-chip, not offered at post alley. Must say they degraded. The fish (cod) used to be long stripes, now is square-like. The calamari used to be part head, part body parts, lightly battered and usually kind of circular. Now they are industrial strips, kind of like fish used to be. They are meatier, but less crispy. I actually think it is a different species -- kind of a larger squid. It appeared to be a cost-saving change. At the end, I liked it less. Not doing calamari anymore.

Yelp
Lineup was long, but moved quickly. The cup sizes appear small, but are packed with goodness. I liked the included bread, and tried the flight -- all were really good, and I do not think you can go wrong with any of their offerings.

Yelp
Pike Place Chowder was an absolute highlight! We ordered the 1/4 Connecticut-style Dungeness crab roll with clam chowder, and it was hands down the best crab roll I've ever had. The Dungeness crab tasted incredibly fresh, and the bun had the perfect amount of butter. The chowder was rich and flavorful, making it a great addition. My fiancé and I shared the roll, treating it more like a snack since seafood tends to be pricey in general, but it was totally worth it. We definitely could've eaten one each! Our food came out pretty fast and the worker answered all of our questions. This location is in a mall so there's seating options in the actual establishment or even right outside.
google avatar

Jim N.

Yelp
Chowder is good. I can see why it has long lines. Soup is thick and full of clams, bacon and potatoes. Nice and creamy, well balanced so you don't get indigestion. The sour dough bread goes well with the chowder, holds up well and does a good job of soaking up the soup.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
I'm so embarrassed I waited for this but even more embarrassed for those of yall that said this was good. I've had something out of a can tasting better
google avatar

Yelp
Although this spot is quite touristy, trying chowder in Seattle is a must. I recommend placing an online order for pickup to skip the long line. My brother and I shared the 4-cup chowder sampler and a lobster roll. We loved 2 out of the 4 chowders, though we can't recall their names. The lobster roll was incredibly fresh, served on perfectly buttered toast. I'll definitely return to get a full-sized bowl of their chowder.
google avatar

Yelp
My go-to chowder spot on a nice chilly day in Seattle. I normally go to the Pikes Place location, but they closed at 5pm so I went to try this location for the first time. This location closes later so that's a plus! It's located in Pacific Place, a mall with shops and restaurants. They have a parking garage or you can also street park too. I always go for the New England Clam Chowder which comes with a piece of sourdough bread and also their fries that I love to dip in the chowder with. The chowder is hot, creamy, and very flavorful!!! I like that this location feels less crowded and easier to find a spot to sit. The staff were also friendly and brought our food over to the table which was nice. Will be coming to this location more often :)
google avatar

Selina H.

Yelp
Definitely worth all the hype because the clam chowder is so creamy and full of clams!! Pairs perfectly with the sourdough bread. A medium size is about $11 which is not bad at all. It did the trick to warm me up on a windy day at pikes place. Pro tip is to order online and just pick it up instead of waiting in line!
google avatar

Lorene P.

Yelp
Shh! Best kept secret! Use the QR code to order. Go to the back of the restaurant (hallway), scan the QR code, wait by the stations, and the take out order will be ready in 10 minutes. You may take it with you or if you are lucky sit at one if the tables in the hallway near the stairs. However, they ask you not eat in the dine-in section of Pike Place Chowder. It was fast and satisfying as thr line up was sooooo long.
google avatar

Alfred L.

Yelp
I didn't get the hype about this place. A lot of marketing surrounding the fact that they were voted "most popular dish in all of America". Get outta here. I ordered the New England clam chowder, and will be reviewing this based on my experience as a Yankee. First of all, good chowder uses salted pork, or pork fat, but never bacon. While most people believe bacon is a good substitute, its smoky flavor can overpower the flavor of the delicate flavor of the clams. Not sure if butchers outside of New England have salt pork, but it is a must if you're going to say you're the best. Secondly, the chowder has obviously been thickened by some sort of flour or cornstarch. That is not the proper way to make chowder. Real chowder is fairly thin, and only thickened by the starch from potatoes and oyster crackers added on top. I'm almost dumbfounded by the 4-5 star reviews. Did we have the same chowder? Very disappointed and an obvious tourist trap. As the Dropkick Murphys one said. I'm shipping (back) up to Boston.
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
Delicious! I really enjoyed the option to sample different chowders--definitely recommend trying it. It actually ended up being quite a lot of chowder, and I was pleasantly surprised by how each one had its own distinct flavor. The chowders were flavorful, well-balanced, and made with quality ingredients. Plus, there was a generous amount of clams in each.
google avatar

Will I A m.

Yelp
No crowds like the one at Pikes Place. Same great chowder but does not have all the varieties, which was not an issue for us. Clam chowder all the way! The bread is not the same, and not as good as Pikes Place Lobster roll and crab roll.....just ok.
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
First-time visitor. Line was soup-er long but moved quickly and was worth. the. wait. Staff was incredibly kind. The chowder is TOP NOTCH. I was sad not to see Lobster Bisque on the menu but got super lucky because the Market special was Lobster, crab and shrimp chowder. On this sunny but chilly and very windy spring day, it was exactly what I needed. They have someone who stays on top of making sure people aren't reserving tables before they've gotten their food. But just be prepared if you choose to have soup to stay, there might not be tables. I had to walk around with my tray for like 5-7 mins before a table opened up. But don't let that deter you!
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
Love all of their chowders. So yummy! In Seattle's cold and rain, nothing is better than chowder.
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
Truly award winning chowder! Their classic clam chowder was 10/10. Their other chowders are good but not nearly as good as the classic
google avatar

Emmeline W.

Yelp
SO WORTH THE HYPE. Yes, the line is long, but it moves remarkably fast and you'll be glad you waited. Of the trips I've been to Seattle, Pike Place Chowder is a must-visit each time. NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER: Award-winning for a reason. Rich, creamy broth with savory chunks of clam, onion, and potato. SO MUCH CLAM. Comes with oyster crackers, no additional seasoning/fixings needed. Very filling. I prefer this in a cup than a bread bowl, I feel like the bread takes away from the flavor tbh! I've had their Lobster Bisque and it's great, just not as impressive as their clam chowder. Have yet to try their rolls... Bc why would I order anything other their namesake dish? :P I will say that their vegan chowder... Is... Interesting! Maybe better if you like savory lime dishes. Not for me! NOTE: Constantly packed, with limited seating. Plan on grabbing your order and sitting elsewhere. I've only been able to snag a table once!
google avatar

Eunice C.

Yelp
So delicious and worth the wait even if there's a line- the line actually moves really quickly and the workers help you find a table after you've gotten your food. I actually came back here two times during my visit because it was just that good. I recommend the New England clam chowder- add the Tabasco and oyster crackers for the perfect meal!

Yelp
The Pike Place Chowder location in Pacific Place mall in downtown Seattle. It's on the 4th floor next to Ding Tai Fung. Small counter serve setup but they have a bunch of tables in the hallway outside. Doing pretty good business on a weekend afternoon considering it was after normal lunch time. Popular with the tourists. The menu is their selection of chowder/seafood soups, and some other seafood items like seafood rolls and fish and chips etc. Got a combo of the 6 inch Maine lobster roll with a bowl of clam chowder. Also comes with a fountain soda. Their signature New England clam chowder is very creamy and tasty. The lobster roll has a good amount of meat for the size of the bread. It's chilled lobster meat that doesn't have much additional seasoning. Lobster meat tasted fine. The food was good, but quite pricey for what you get. Seafood has gotten more expensive over the years, but $40+ for a single not-big lobster roll and a small bowl of chowder is pricey for counter serve food.

Yelp
This is always a spot I visit when I'm in the Seattle area. I got the sampler which had clam chowder, smoked salmon chowder and two I can't remember at this time. It's about $20 for four cups with two pieces of sourdough bread. The chowder I got was little greasier than usual but still packs a good amount of flavor. My favorite would be the smoked salmon one, it was creamy and had that distinct flavor. I didn't realize they had some happy hour specials when we were there. I'd still be coming back
google avatar

Yelp
Super casual, modest, small eatery with plastic tables and chairs and a limited bar seating area. They do offer additional seating across the walkway. It's self-service. You wait in line to order and pay for your food then they hand your food to you right there and then. You find a spot to sit and then enjoy your meal. While in line, I can't help but notice that you cannot reserve a table prior to placing your order (which is fair). There was a staff policing the area and will not hesitate to boot you off. LOL! But not to worry, this same person was also the one who'd help you find a table. We totally enjoyed the delicious New England clam chowder and Connecticut-style lobster roll. My only regret was... I shouldn't have agreed to share!!! A definite must try!!!
google avatar

Stephanie E.

Yelp
Ordered their lobster roll and it was just okay. I've had lobster rolls in the past that were more memorable and tasty. We paid $77 for two lobster rolls and they were small with some butter on the toasted bread. I wished we had tried their clam chowder instead, but it was such a hot day. Definitely would not order this again, but instead try their soups.
google avatar

Trini L.

Yelp
Walked around the mall and saw this had great reviews so decided to check it out since it was on my list! So glad we did because the chowder was so flavorful and probably the best chowder I've ever had! You could taste the clams and the seafood was so fresh. The sourdough was kind of stale but that was complimentary anyways. There was no line and we got our food super fast. *it's on the 4th floor.
google avatar

Shaeli Z.

Yelp
This place is good! Super busy. Glad I stopped by. Service is very convenient, it's pay and go. You're not allowed to sit down before you order so that allows efficiency for seats. Portions are generous. The place itself is small but there's other seating across the way.

Yelp
They didn't lie when they said this is the best chowder! Me and my friend were too late to make it to the Pike market place for chowder so we decided to check out the second location The instructions on our map was a little difficult to find because it didn't mention it was in a mall food court but if you didn't know, now, you know. Restaurant is small and busy but the service was fast we didn't have to wait long I think we were there around 6 or 7 there's also more seating out in front of the shop as well. we had to get the four sampler plate so we can try out the different chowders. I want to say the New England chowder was my favorite, but they were all really good and unique.i will definitely make this a mandatory stop when I'm in Seattle.

Yelp
I recommend this place if you are going to visit pikes market. I ordered the new england clam chowder and this is so tasty and creamy( 5 ). The only thing I dont like is the dining space ( 2 ). It's so tiny and its hard to enjoy my food because I'm kinda rushing to finish my soup so other customers can seat and eat. Oh well tiny space indeed in seattle pikes market. But you guys should try it
