"With Patricia Escárcega still out on maternity leave, the Times is again turning to Gustavo Arellano for his take on Pikoh, Ricardo Zarate’s casual cafe in West LA. While Arellano finds that some of the dishes really hit the mark, ultimately the place is a bit frustrating when one considers what Zarate has shown he’s really capable of elsewhere. The menu itself, filled with bone broth and activated charcoal bowls, is a “parody-ready setup,” says Arellano, but does get saved in spots thanks to some real creativity: Elsewhere, Zarate and chef de cuisine James Jung hit the mark with “a chicharrón-esque pork tonkatsu served with sinus-searing Japanese mustard,” but overall Pikoh’s dishes “whisper Peru when they should scream it.” Add in some service hiccups and an issue at the bar, and suddenly Arellano is not having such a great time. Still, “a stop here isn’t a mistake,” even if the critic “still yearn(s) for the scintillating ceviches Zarate served from his original stall at Mercado La Paloma.”" - Farley Elliott

"For $39, Pikoh begins dineLA with an amuse bouche with oyster, ponzu, and avocado mousse. But then there’s the fresh and vegetable-filled first course, and entrees like the corn agnolotti with aji, lime and shallots." - Mona Holmes

"As you probably guessed, all-day restaurant Pikoh is located on Pico Blvd., on a relatively quiet stretch in West LA. It’s from the guy behind Rosaliné, but appropriately for the area, feels more like a casual neighborhood spot than an all-out party. During the day, you’ll find sandwiches, salads, and some mains, while at night there are small plates that range from pastas and quinoa hot pots to pork tonkatsu. It’s all pretty solid, although the small plates really are small, so if you’re hungry you might end up spending more than you intended." - Jess Basser Sanders

"Pikoh is the planned all-day cafe on Pico Boulevard in the former Chan Dara space, led by chef Ricardo Zarate and chef de cuisine James Jung. The cafe will serve breakfast foods daily until 3 p.m., with lunch through midday and dinner from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. or later most nights. The menu will be non-Peruvian and will include a full bar and lots of wine. Pikoh is expected to open in the first week of February, offering counter service during the day and full table service at night." - Farley Elliott

I was taken here for my farewell lunch with my coworkers. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo which was the perfect portion and had lots of flavor. A coworker got the Sweet Potato Gnocchi which was light and had a nice flavor. The bone broth was light as well. We all over the place that we cannot wait to come back for dinner when we can.

Would give it six stars!! This is possibly THE ideal place to enjoy your weekday lunch. Went there twice and planning on more visits. Restaurant environment, service, and everything else were impeccable (also easy parking - either valet or street, and few people on weekday noons). But the real point was the food. The avocado toast was so far the best I've ever had - the bread was just right - thick, soft and crispy, and the oven dried tomato and yuzu sauce made it stand out. The scallops were well-done. And you cannot miss these two: the soft seared pork belly in the kimchi fried rice and the roasted chicken breast were ridiculously tender and juicy! . . . IG: @phootopia19

Light airy restaurant in the Pico corridor serving delicious meals with a global influences. A great brunch location with excellent coffee and variety of entrees - all which are excellent - from a charcoal infused yogurt fruit bowl to their beautiful avocado and smoked salmon toasts. Valet out front makes parking a breeze too.

So my favorite local breakfast joints always get muscled out, first Zengo Kitchen, then Border Grill and Cerveteca. I want you all to check out Pikoh on Pico and Bundy. The culinary genius, Ricardo Zarate who was behind Rosaline (another must) is behind this neighborhood forward joint that mixes some impressive culinary chops with a laid back modern decor. The most trivial thing on the menu: the fries rival McDonald's and when accompanied by the Ponzu aioli leaves Ronald McDonald crying. The fried chicken sandwich is both light and filling. The shakshuka is a good choice to be happy.

Really friendly staff. I sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks while I waited for my party to show up. Just a heads up, the Happy Hour isn't available in the main room (only the bar, patio, and front area), so plan ahead! The ceviche is a bit pricey for the portion size, but really tasty! Also got the stuffed potato which was really good. Definitely try a Monkey Business! Overall a great visit.

Rosaline became my favorite restaurant in the city when it opened, but it's a long haul from Venice, especially on the weekdays. I was thrilled to see chefs Ricardo and James head west for Pikoh, and I was even more excited to see them open an all-day cafe where I can just hang during the day with great food and drinks. I like the casual environment during the day, and then it becomes a romantic nighttime spot for dinner. The food is amazing! I did brunch and two dinners already, and I would 100% recommend trying the restaurant at different times to experience the full menu in all its depth.
