Nestled at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pilot is a charming vintage sailboat oyster bar serving up fresh seafood and craft cocktails with stunning skyline views.
"Pilot is a 140-foot sailboat docked off Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. In a disappointing turn of events, the boat doesn’t actually sail anywhere, but it’s still a nice spot to hang out and observe a sunset. The menu is seafood-centric in a New England sort of way, and the entrees are both decent and pricey (mostly in the $30 range)—but no one ever said you had to eat a full dinner here. Get some oysters and fries while you sit on the deck of the ship and look at the East River and lower Manhattan. " - bryan kim
"One way to show someone that you care is to plan a date on a boat. It sends the message that you might be willing to jump in the water to save this person, and also boats are sort of romantic. So go to Pilot. It’s a restaurant/bar on a boat anchored off Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and it’s a great spot for some wine and oysters. If you’re familiar with Grand Banks, it’s pretty much the same thing (in a different river), and it has a very nice view of Manhattan." - bryan kim, katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg
"In addition to Island Oyster and Grand Banks, the siblings operate Pilot, a floating restaurant docked in Brooklyn Heights; outdoor oyster bar Drift In; and Seaworthy, a seafood spot in New Orleans, where the brothers grew up." - Luke Fortney
"If you have a beautiful century-old sailboat of your own, then kudos, and you don’t really need this guide. If you don’t, however, then Pilot is a strong substitute. Have some oysters, lobster rolls, and cocktails overlooking the Manhattan skyline from Pier 6 in Dumbo, and then take a stroll through Brooklyn Bridge Park." - Matt Tervooren
"This boat restaurant offers seats for $375 at the bar and $450 at tables for a July 4 event that includes an open bar, unlimited oysters, and a seated dinner." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
