"Fresh-baked bread, flaky buttermilk biscuits, sweet baked goods, and coffee from Nossa Familia are the right way to start a Hood River day at this charming bakery and cafe. Owner Megan Davis uses seasonal fruits in her muffins, turnovers, and hand pies, often from area growers like Wildwood Farm or Royal Anne Organics; the same is true on the lunch menu, with sandwiches stacked on house-baked bread. Try to visit Saturdays for the once-a-week orange marmalade rolls." - Zoe Baillargeon, Molly Allen

Beautiful artisan baked goods, fast and friendly, with a full espresso bar, wonderful home town atmosphere and super friendly staff. I got the Turkey chutney sandwich and the most delicious Everything croissant you could eat. I'll bet everything they serve is delicious.

My husband and I stopped here for a quick coffee but ended up eating lunch too. They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads and a few fresh soups to choose from. I had the curry chicken salad. It was delicious, served with small slices of very fresh bread. My husband had the Cubano sandwich, he loved it. We enjoyed it so much I forgot to take photos, haha. He also had a mocha coffee and I had a cup of the daily brewed drip coffee. And we bought lemon cookies to bring home. The staff were all friendly, lots of spaces available to chat with friends or dine solo. There was seating outside, we look forward to sitting outside once it’s a bit warmer. Will definitely be back. Thank you!

Google
Pretty good variety of baked goods, everything I had was really tasty, good value too. Will be stopping here anytime I'm in the area.

Google
No wonder this place is getting 5 star reviews. It was a great experience. The cinnamon roll was not soggy with frosting - light fluffy with a caramelized bottom. So different and tasty. My wife got a Cranberry Bran muffin that was good too. Coffee is dark and good. I like that brand Nona Familia. It gets busy so make sure you have time!

Google
This place was great! They really have a system down and have breakfast sandwiches and strata pre made so the line moves quickly! The coffee drinks were yummy and all pastries we tried were delicious!!! My baby was a big fan of the blueberry muffin.

Google
Pine Street Bakery is a gem! I stopped in during a very busy time and was impressed by how friendly and efficient the staff were. I ordered an Italian soda and a marionberry muffin—both were excellent. The muffin was absolutely perfect; I savored every bite. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Beautiful baked goods and lovely staff. We shared a few pastries and a coffee. Sat outside on a nice sunny day. Highly recommend for sweet lovers!

Google
Friendly, local, and delicious cafe and shop full of amazing local goodies. Came in for a quick breakfast, and in the process picked up some amazing organic teas, baked treats and fresh bread to take home. Spent a few hours working from my van while parked (hood street parking and relatively level), then decided to grab lunch here too. Tried the soup and their pizza. Soooo good, great portion size and reasonably priced. Everything tasted homemade and top quality. Their thumbprint cookies with local jam are the bomb. The almond croissant and pear pie I brought home to share with my boyfriend were so good. And the rye bread was the best we’ve tried locally while exploring all around the gorge. Best of all, the service was quick and friendly. Both servers/cashiers who helped me were awesome. Had a good chat with the gentleman who took my lunch order. They had a few vegan / plant based options and lots of vegetarian choices to pick from. They were willing to answer questions and check specific ingredients upon request. I came in during the weekday and the place wasn’t busy. Lots of room to spread and they have cute outside sitting. Looks like not sitting inside at the moment though but I suppose you could drink your coffee by the window.

Yelp
Wonderful pastries with a fun selection!!!! Also unique seasonal drink options, which is always a bonus. Had some coffee struggles bc you order at one counter and they make it at another (opposite side of restaurant) and had some mismakes that we didn't realize till too late. Also the chai was a bit sweet for my taste. But still definitely recommend this spot, particularly for the pastries!!!!!

Yelp
The worst customer service because they hire kids who don't care! They have signs to tell customers to be patient with their employees, but the employees are having full convos with each other and walking VERY slow to greet the next customer during lunch hour. They also close the kitchen 30 min before they actually close at 3pm. So, ten of us in line all got turned away. I keep trying to give them another chance for almost 10 years because they are close to my house, but I'm done. Their bread is just not good either. It has a chemical taste that you can't ignore. No wonder why most locals make the extra effort to go to White Salmon Bakery.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Large spacious interior. All the workers were great to interact with. Every kind of baked good you could imagine, and then... breakfast sandwich's, hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, pizza, it's heaven. Whole family loved it. Of the line looks long just go in, it moves very quickly. Very efficient they are. I read the owner is the daughter of the woman that started grand central bakery in Seattle.

Yelp
Two mornings in a row, between me and the family we've tried about 8-9 different things and they are all amazing. My favorite is the jammer, looks unassuming but my gawd that biscuit has some serious flavor. 100% for these guys.

Emmanuel F.

Yelp
Be patient, you may have to wait. It is worth it! Quality of the food is amazing! Sandwiches and pasties are out of this world!

Mieshia N.

Yelp
The treats are delicious, I had the best ginger snap I have ever had in my life. The service was fine. The cafe setting was casual, a great place to meet up with friends. The coffee was perfect. I only wish I would have bought more ginger snaps

Kim G.

Yelp
Everything is fantastic! Their grainy breads, shortbread cookies, pastries, cinnamon buns, cupcakes, coffee, chai, salads & sandwiches are off the chart delicious! Even though the name says bakery, I encourage you to stop here to pick up a sandwich to either eat there (outside tables) or take with you for your lunch break while out hiking. All sandwiches come in different types their freshly baked bread or baguettes which adds to the deliciousness. The Italian Sammie is my fave; it's absolutely crave-worthy. Salami, capicola, Mama Lil's Peppers, white cheddar are topped with baby greens dressed in a honey vinaigrette that is heavy on the vinegar which I love on a sandwich. It helps cut through the richness of the meat. The house made baguette elevates the sandwich, the crust on the outside with an evident chew on the inside, it is the perfect vessel for this sandwich. It's on the grab and go area and since it's a,ready wrapped, you can't make changes but who would want to? Wish they cut them in half which would make it easier to eat half then and save half for later as it's too much for one sitting, at least for me. They are famous for their shortbread cookies and for good reason. They are more complex than the typical three ingredient shortbread if butter, flour and sugar. They add made from a heartier flour mix so they are a bit denser and crispier than your typical shortbread. And not as buttery, which imho is better. They sprinkle in candied ginger and oats in one version; almonds in another; and a chocolate sea salt to seal the deal. Just a dollar a piece, get all three! My faves are in the order I listed them. Love the variety of texture and flavors in the ginger crisp version Especially. All of their baked goods are on the less sweet side which matches my preference. They do't just use white flour and white sugar and it really makes a difference. I can eat two cookies without doing a crash and burn! They have not opened up the inside table service yet, it's take out or you can purchase and eat at the outdoor tables and chairs along the sidewalk. Friendly service, incredibly delicious baked goods and sandwiches with a full coffee bar. Five stars and counting!

Sara S.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast sandwiches we have ever had. A lovely, well staffed establishment with the aromas of freshly baked goods and coffee upon entering. Also pup friendly! We had to bring some goods home with us as they were irresistible when viewing through the window. Such a wonderful find in Hood River! We will be back!

Isabel J.

Yelp
This bakery is super cute and they have very decent food/drink. I got a latte that was super delicious! As far as the food, they have a selection of sandwiches and I would say the sandwiches are nothing special but they are tasty. We came here for lunch around 1pm and seems this place gets pretty busy so it took about 25 min for food so just fyi if you are in a hurry.

Constance M.

Yelp
The fougasse bread is to die for. Great customer service - so friendly - chill atmosphere. Sandwiches and baked goods reasonably priced and delicious. Highly recommend!

Wendell R.

Yelp
This is a fantastic find in hood river Oregon. They have wonderful local pastries, sandwiches and of course souvenirs. Try the spicy sweet nuts and some of the chai type tea mixes.

Art C.

Yelp
They had this biscuit sausage sando thing that was actually quite excellent. Also, don't sleep on those pastries. Good find...

Jeff S.

Yelp
Such great spot to get food, great atmosphere, great prices, wonderful salads and very friendly staff. My one complaint is that there aren't a lot of outlets to use to charge devices. but otherwise. we are very fortunate to have them in town.

Tad M.

Yelp
In the mornings there can be a small line, but it is well justified. Great coffee! We love their muffins (bread pudding) and breakfast sandwiches. It has a nice easy vibe!

Namthip P.

Yelp
I just found the best bakery in Hood River!!! Everything look so yummy. I got the coffee cake, which was delicious!

Rachel M.

Yelp
Very good bakery. We ordered the breakfast English Muffin and Frittata and they were very fresh and tasty. We took some pastries to go that looked delicious.

Chrysanthia K.

Yelp
Delicious warm fresh bread in the morning, banana bread, fresh pastries .... like scones and turnovers, muffins and cookies. They also had egg sandwiches in the morning which I did not see on the menu. We were sad that they were not open on Sundays, since we visited over a weekend.the cardamom buns ... are the most amazing breakfast item! Yummy! Yummy! Not too sweet!

Chris F.

Yelp
I want to like this place. The coffee is good, the food is good, but the staff is completely unable to listen to you when you order. They consistently make our drinks to-go when we confirm multiple times that we would like to enjoy them here. The only explanation is a lack of attention when the order is placed and a lack of attention by the barista when reading the ticket. It's an easy fix that they seemingly refuse to make.

Therese D.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I was in town for a wedding and needed to place an order of 18 pastries. I called a few days ahead and left a message. Someone promptly called me back, listed off everything they offered, got me a delicious assortment together. When I went in this morning to pick it up, it was all boxed up beautifully. Everybody in the place was super friendly and nice. The shop is adorable, and has plenty of delicious offerings along with a great selection of coffee. I got the pastries home to the wedding party and everybody raved about them. Literally every single one was delicious. I can't recommend them enough. Run don't walk to this bakery to satisfy your sweet tooth craving

B G.

Yelp
Love this place! Every year we come to HR, we get up early for their cinnamon rolls which seem to be made of sourdough and honey. I feel like they had nuts in the past but didn't this time around. Regardless, delicious. We tried coffee cake this time also and it was not too sweet which was great! We returned for lunch and had the cubano, veggie on ciabatta and the egg sandwich. All very tasty on fresh bread and amazing flavor. Finished it off with each of their homemade cookies. Such a treat!

Miranda B.

Yelp
I've been a Pine Street fan for years (from back when they had a restaurant in the space too). Not every item is great, but enough are that combined with the great service and community support, they get 5 stars. I get a loaf of either 5-grain or the seeded loaf at least once a week. It's available fresh and they'll slice it or sell it unsliced. It freezes pretty well (yes yes I know) if you can't eat it at once. The new salted chocolate chunk shortbread cookies are a bit addictive for me. Yum! I find their regular chocolate chips too dry. Spouse is a fan of the carrot cake cupcakes; both of us love the Italian "sammies." Pizza by the slice is pretty good too. Even after 7 or 8 years, I don't think I've tried everything (because they do change things up). At Thanksgiving, if I'm not baking my own bread I'll get their regular white loaf, leave it unsliced, and use it for the stuffing base. Prices are fair; buy loaves of bread and earn a "punch" in your punch card. 12 loaves purchased and the next is on them.

Yelp
The food looked really good, unfortunately I was not able to try due to the service provided. They rung me up for a grilled cheese and never gave it to me. I was however impressed with the size of the bakery with lots of tables/booths.

Henry M.

Yelp
Great food and really fair pricing. So thankful to have this place around. The service is always really great and it's a beautiful little building and location. I've been going here for years and prices have gone up but it's always been clear that pine street wants to fairly and equitably serve their customers

Edward K.

Yelp
They keep deleting my one star review. They've found a way to delete it and I'll just keep reposting. Not a fan of Pine Street. Least favorite business in Hood River.

Melody P.

Yelp
On a race day, boyfriend found this place just a few blocks from our hotel. We went there for breakfast and shared a ham & cheese biscuit, cinnamon bun, and a cup of coffee. Everything we had was super yummy and fresh. The staff was friendly and helping a lot with the food decision. We really wish we stopped by before we headed out. But, we ran out of time. But, we will be back!!

Devyn H.

Yelp
Visiting Hood River for work, was walking distance from this adorable bakery. My husband and I visited and enjoyed the spicy chai lattes, as well as a peppermint cupcake, and I had the Cardamom knot. Loved the knots so much that I returned for a box of goodies and another chai. Great place to stop if you're in the area.

Helena Q.

Yelp
The carrot cake cupcake was so good-- not too sweet (a little sweeter than my personal preference, but I like stuff less sweet), the perfect texture, lovely frosting. Only complaint was that it was a little bit oily (though of course that made it taste richer). Unfortunately, the other items we got weren't as good... The cookie was a little stale, and the croissant was kind of mushy. Oh well.

Arne B.

Yelp
I started out my morning hiking up to the top of Multnomah Fall followed by an outing to Bonneville Dam. I even stopped in to say hi to "Herman," the seventy year old sturgeon at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery. All these activities left me feeling hungry, so I drove over to the Pine Street Bakery. It was worth the drive. You walk in the door to a well-lit, warm, inviting atmosphere. I arrived an hour before closing and managed to get one of their remaining bread puddings and ordered a cubano sandwich. The woman at the counter suggested warming up my bread pudding. I would describe it's taste and texture with these words..."Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh my God, YES!" It was fabulous. My cubano sandwich was a tasty combination of ham, salami, cabbage, mustard and more. If you are lucky enough to live in Hood River, go to Pine Street Bakery. If you are exploring the scenic part of the Columbia River gorge or Bonneville Dam, drive the extra miles and go there. If you are driving on I-84 and find yourself passing through Hood River, get off the freeway and go there! Your stomach will thank you. P.S. Their customer service was friendly and welcoming. They earned their five stars.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Wished we had stayed in Hood River longer, so we could have tried more goodies from this place! We got the raspberry jam biscuit, a bread pudding muffin, and one meat and one veggie breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious! Oh, we also got a chai latte and a house coffee and both were great! Staff was super friendly and it was a nice, low-key space to hang out for breakfast.

Michael C.

Yelp
WOW!! This place did not disappoint! Was in town for the day and on our way out decided to grab some coffee and snacks for the road. Got an americano, spicy pizza slice (ham, jalapeño, Caramelized onions, pineapple) and a Cubano. The coffee was outstanding, the Cubano had this delicious slaw that was a little spicy and a little sweet on this perfectly baked baguette, and the pizza was out of this world in all facets from the sauce to the crust to the fresh toppings. The staff was super nice and very inviting. Loved seats by the window. I did not eat there however it looked very comfortable and great place to have a coffee and a chat. I would definitely go back here again.

G S.

Yelp
Cubano sandwich was great. Ham and Swiss was great. Thanks to Covid and the State of Oregon... You go in, buy at the front counter, get your food in a standing waiting room, then take your food and leave. That being said, the food was worth it and hope to be back.

M M.

Yelp
I look forward to coming to Pine Street every time I visit Hood River! Their breakfast sandwiches (esp the biscuit version) are to die for, their jammy biscuits are divine, and their orange rolls and cardamom knots are excellent. But the piece de resistance is the dark chocolate sea salt cookie - I could eat them until I died, so buttery and salty and shortbready and chocolatey delicious. And coffee to go with it. Thank you Pine Street!

Lisa M.

Yelp
Yum! We have passed by this bakery several times and finally stopped. We will definitely be back! The coffee was delicious. Our almond latte and Americano were SO GOOD! We also ordered a loaf of whole grain bread, and we are so glad we did! It's some of the best bread we've had. It's perfect for pb&j's or sandwiches. Before we left I ordered a biscotti to dunk in my Americano and that was delicious too. I'm pretty sure anything you order from here will be great. They also have a stamp card for their bread.

Abby B.

Yelp
Love the coffee and lunch sandwiches but the price is something that always sets me back. I've lived here my whole life and definitely wish the prices were a bit lower! The breakfast sandwich are not the best but the coffee and pastries are delicious!

Michael C.

Yelp
The five-grain bread is fantastic. The cheese-bread is incredible; rarely makes it from the bakery to my house. Chocolate chip cookies are delicious. The fougasse (a ciabatta bread shaped like a leaf) is unusual and like the cheese-bread does not last very long in my house. Service is good, the seating area comfortable and prices fair.

J J.

Yelp
WOW - the bread!!! the cubano!!! over the moon about our choice!!! Many bread loaf choices! Beautiful sandwiches! Great waitstaff! I asked to taste the soup before ordering and that was no problem - thx guys! We WILL BE BACK!!! PS some killer looking pastries as well folks!

Dan L.

Yelp
Food is good. Staff did not seem too concerned about nut allergies. They used the same tongs for items with and without nuts.

Michele R.

Yelp
Da biscuits are da bomb. The best I have ever had. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pine-street-bakery-hood-river?select=F38_dL2BxESREw6cCBKbww&userid=3CwMwbY9UgP-qvTDxNs_0g#F38_dL2BxESREw6cCBKbww What better time to share that than September which is National Biscuit Month. (Seriously. I did not make that up.) But more than biscuits make Pine Street Bakery so special... ...LOCATION & VIBE: In the Heights section of Hood River, this has an "all people are welcome" neighborhood vibe. Unpretentious and cozy. Unlike downtown Hood River which is definitely a tourist vibe, it seemed as if the customers here were mostly locals. ...EATS: Baked goodies of all kinds, the fabulous biscuits (with jam baked in or plain with butter and jam alongside), cinnamon rolls, English Muffins, cookies, tarts and breads including focaccia. Breakfast sandwiches with meat or without and on your choice of English Muffin or biscuit. Seasonal soup and salads. Luncheon sandwiches made to order for that time of day. Options for vegans, vegetarians and omnivores. Great end product starts with great ingredients and much of what is used here is locally sourced from top notch providers. ...BREW: of the caffeinated kind is a top priority for both my husband and me at a bakery or breafast stop (this was both for us on our recent Hood River visit) and the coffee here is excellent. It was a new roaster to us, Noosa Familia (our family in Portugese). Megan, the bakery owner, enthusiastically shared the back story for this company when we commented how great was the coffee. Full espresso bar service too. ...SMALL WORLD: Turns out Megan, the owner, and my husband were acquainted as they discovered when they spied each other from the back and front of the service counter respectively. Like us she once lived in Bend and she managed a horse facility where my hubby boarded his horse. Small world. I also felt one of those "six degrees of separation" links when I learned her mom was founder of Grand Central Bakery in the original Seattle location in 1972. Grand Central was for me a regular respite stop in that year and my introduction to artisan baking and wonderful coffee, which was in that day a blend made just for them by the then nascent Starbucks. I still recall standing in the line with baking parchment on the wood tray, waiting for a warm cinnamon roll to be placed on it and with steaming black coffee served in wonderful mugs, listening to classical music drift through the high ceilinged space and for those few moments the day was perfect. I was reminded that a great bakery... ...NOURISHES BODY & SOUL: Pine Street Bakery does both. Highly recommended. And you get a peek into the spirit of the of the bakery itself and the owner too when you note the following on their menu card "We would love to take your orders for holiday pies and special orders for all group sizes. A couple days notice is appreciated!". Doesn't that language say something about the spirit here as compared to, for example, "Special orders taken, 48 hours notice required". Kind customer care is intuitive, I think. Lovely all around. No wonder Pine Street Bakery is so well loved in Hood River. THIS N THAT: 1) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout. Standard height seating. Accessible loo. 2) PARKING: On street in this neighborhood is considerably easier to find than in downtown Hood River. 3) PRICES: Can't be beat for the quality. 4) HOURS: Seven days from 7a to 3p.

Brit G.

Yelp
Aesthetically attractive on the outside & cozy & happy on the inside! Their menu isn't overwhelming rather generously simple. A good amount of choices for hot & cold sandwiches, salads, desserts & coffee (by Nossa Familia.) We were warmly greeted by the lovely person behind the counter. Very warm & friendly service. My friend & I both ordered the 4-cheese grilled cheese with caramelized onion (OMG YUM.) it was super cheese & super delicious! I do wish there were more caramelized onions in my grilled cheese, though. Nevertheless, a very delicious grilled cheese. I haven't even gotten to the best part of the experience! They brought out our grilled cheese & IT WAS ARRAIGNED IN A HEART SHAPE!! Yeah, my friend & I looked like dorks going nuts over our heart shaped grilled cheeses! And it's one of those grilled cheese where when you pull the sandwich apart the cheese is stringy & so melty. That the fontina cheese in there! I had a bite of my friend's dessert & I wasn't the biggest fan of it but still pretty good! This place is good for a light breakfast, lunch, coffee or a quick dessert to go or sit & relax!

Brian M.

Yelp
Great pastries and coffee. Nice selection of breads. Service was also friendly and efficient.

Gina L.

Yelp
I'd give it 10 stars if I could! A must on your Hood River list! Stock up on goodies to fuel your day! Excellent Covid practices and great customer service!

Frank W.

Yelp
I had read several good reviews of this bakery so I made sure we visited during our recent vacation. After checking out the display case, my wife chose a bread pudding muffin that was tasty, but a little too heavy. My marionberry muffin was loaded with berries and a delightful treat. We enjoyed both at one of the dog friendly outside tables.

David K.

Yelp
Really nice breakfast pastries muffins and scones. But I always come here for the sandwiches. Particularly the Cubano sandwich, when it's on the menu. Now, if you're a purist, beware that they might substitute an ingredient now and again (they were out of roasted pork and substituted salami today) but I couldn't complain cause it was still crazy good. Made with a mustard mayo and perfect bread. Crunchy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Recently expanded lots of places to sit. Fresh made pizzas. This review would probably be more expensive if I didn't have the Cubano every time I was here but so it goes.

Chen Z.

Yelp
Grab an Italiano sandwich for the long hike ahead of us. Even after a few hours on the road the sandwich still tastes good. The line can be long. Waited about 15 minutes before we could order.

Taylor G.

Yelp
As a bakery I thought they were pretty disappointing. I went in looking for a small cake/cupcake option for my child for his birthday and they had the Maddie Cupcake that seemed like a good option for him. The cupcake was a vanilla cake with fruit compote filling and buttercream frosting. When I got home I realized the strawberry on top looked very old - shriveled and dried up. When we ate it, the cake portion of it was very stale and hard. It seemed like this cupcake was several days old and I can't believe they were selling these to customers this old. As a bakery I expected more freshly baked goods than what I received, so I would not recommend as a decent bakery.

Camille J.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday morning at the recommendation of a friend who lives in Hood River, and it was a great decision. There is so much space in the bakery and plenty of tables and seating. The bakery was somewhat busy but we didn't have to wait in line or for our food for very long. We got an egg salad sandwich, a breakfast sandwich with bacon, and a cappuccino. The egg salad sandwich came with fresh greens in the sandwich and on super fluffy bread. The English muffin for the breakfast sandwich was decent but not incredible, but the sandwich insides were delicious. I really enjoyed the cappuccino. Overall, this is a great spot to grab a bite or a cup of coffee, and it seems like it would be a nice place to get some work or reading done, with plenty of seating and natural lighting. I will most definitely be back the next time I'm in Hood River.

shannon t.

Yelp
Love this place, love the folks who run this place. $6 is a bang for your buck with their delicious breakfast sandwiches. I always get the bread and of course a couple treats, well worth every penny. Thanks for doing a great job PSB during these trying times, coming in today.

Jasmine D.

Yelp
This place was definitely divine had a breakfast Sandwich, pastry and iced coffee drink they recommended definitely happy with the selections everything is fresh and made there will be coming again

Ryan N.

Yelp
We had a perfect start to our morning, enjoying a delicious breakfast sandwich and a strawberry rhubarb handpie as we sat outside.
