The 9 Best Places to Find Hawai‘i Food in the Bay Area

"Head to Pineapples for the most refreshing taste of the islands: A mountain of wispy, Hawaiian-style shave ice available in tropical flavors like lilikoi, pineapple, and mango. Order a scoop of vanilla ice cream tucked inside and load it up with mochi, shaved coconut, and, most importantly, a snow cap of condensed milk." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff

Google
Great shave ice and dole whip but poor mgmt of the other food dishes and drinks. Every time I come here they are out of pork or chicken or even rice. Or they have no coffee or tea even tho these options are all over their menu in the walls. How do you run out of rice at 1pm? Isn't that a staple of Hawaiian fare and also some of the only main dishes you offer? Come on guys, step up your game and manage a bit better.

Jenny Liu

Google
I love this place! It is quiet and close to my neighborhood. A great place to go on a date with your special someone, share a shaved ice together. Mhmmm.... I love the dole whip too, tastes creamy although there’s no dairy. 🍍

Denise Varela

Google
If you want to save money it's better to just buy a bag of ice, crush it in the blender and get your own flavor mix. Portions for shaved ice seems very small, melts very fast. So it taste just like sweet flavored water.. dole whip machine was down.. sucked because it was my first time... but hey customer service was great .

Daniel Amador

Google
This is not a well run business. The shave ice is fine, but it takes forever. More importantly, over the past several years, my family has tried to go to Pineapples at least five times, during hours that, according to multiple online sources, it should be open, but it has been open only once. For instance, the online sources state that it is supposed to be open today (Sunday, September 29, 2024), so my family and I tried once more. We got in the car, drove over at 1:30 PM, and were greeted with a closed store. We won't try again. This is business is unreliable, and has led to more disappointment than joy.

Google
1:30 pm Sunday they’re closed, website says open. Must be closed down, don’t waste your time

Google
Though the weather outside was (slightly) frightful, the Dole Whip inside was so delightful! My roommate's sister wanted to try this place when she was visiting, otherwise I might not have made the trip to the outskirts of the city. It's worth it though. The Dole Whip is just like what you get in Hawaii or at Disneyland, minus the long lines. I got mine with pineapple chunks. You can also get it with li hing powder, or go all out with guava and ice cream. It was warm inside, and with the shakas all over, I was reminded of being back in the islands. They also have rice plates and other edibles, along with shaved ice with lots of flavors to choose from. I can imagine students nearby heading over to this place, because the prices are very reasonable. The employees working there were friendly. It was a welcoming atmosphere, and I'll have to make it out there sometime to try one of their rice plates.

Google
Friendly service. Shaved ice texture is good - no complaints. The syrups didn't quite do it for me though - something just didn't taste right (too artificial). Hard to complain about the price though.

Eric Tam

Google
It's something different, but it's not for me. This place strength and uniqueness is their pineapples but in reality I didn't find it that special. To me all it is is vanilla soft serve ice cream with some whipped pineapple juice (sort of like Pineapple Icee) that they blend in with their ice cream. Their guava float is something you can skip; think of it as a root beer float but instead of root beer, they use Dole's Guava Juice. Their shaved ice is not like Snowflake, but more like a giant snow cone with syrup.

O L.

Yelp
I grew up in Hawaii and I was lucky enough to catch the Pineapple's pop-up at Humble Sea in Pacifica on a blazing hot summer day. The weather, their island vibes, shaved ice and kahlua pork over rice brought me right back home. The kahlua pork tastes just like it came out of the luau pit, and the homemade mochi they use as a topping for the shaved ice and Dole whip is the absolute best I've ever had in my life! It's like eating a soft sugary cloud and even stays soft on the shaved ice. So tasty I could eat the mochi all by itself as a snack! Aloha Pineapples and mahalo (thank you) for bringing your island vibes and killer grinds to the mainland

Yelp
Closed on a Saturday afternoon. Bummed. Was looking forward to treats during this hot weekend in SF.

Yelp
First time trying shave ice and it's delicious! Would recommend coming here, and don't forget to follow them on instagram (pineapples.sf)

Yelp
Went here to try the malasadas on a Sunday at around 12 pm and they were almost sold out even though they had only been open for 2 hours :( we tried 3 flavors: nutella, guava, and haupia. The haupia was the most flavorful, followed by the Nutella and the guava. They were pretty good considering there aren't any malasada places in San Francisco but they were heavily coated in sugar and made my hands pretty sticky. The donut itself was okay; nothing special and tasted like a regular donut you can get from a local donut shop. Overall, my boyfriend and I rated it a 7/10 as they were good malasadas for San Francisco but I've tried better ones in Fremont, CA and Hawaii.

Edward D.

Yelp
Drove across town to find it closed. Need to be clear about when it is actually open. Post correct hours please

Yelp
I had assumed Pineapples - the previous name for this business - was a victim of the pandemic because when I passed by in the last year or so, it looked deserted when I sauntered by on Ocean Avenue. I thought that would've been a real shame since it was the only place in the city you could get an authentic Dole Whip. Fortunately I'm happy to report they've recently reopened. The new name was well considered because it has evolved into a more diverse Hawaiian dessert shop. Not only was there the perennial Dole Whip but quite an extensive menu of shave ice flavors and toppings (including a Build Your Own option) as well as freshly baked malasadas. Coincidentally, I was in Honolulu earlier this year and had my fill of the different shave ices there. However, I went to Leonard's Bakery for the first time and discovered their famous malasadas (review: https://bit.ly/45uziFs). So when I saw a full display case of malasadas here with different flavored fillings, I was thrilled (photo: https://yelp.to/q5bCach5qI). They come from Ocean Malasadas, which is now part of the cafe. Plain ones are $4.25, filled ones are fifty cents more. I tried the Ube and Haupia Malasadas on my first visit back (photo: https://yelp.to/ZBbUO4NVg9). I came in the middle of the afternoon, and frankly they were a tad stale. The filling flavors, however, immediately brought me back to Leonard's. The ube was mellow and not overly sweet (photo: https://yelp.to/8Vup7khFCe), while the haupia tasted like authentic coconut pudding. I came back a few weeks later but this time in the morning. Happily, the Haupia Malasada was perfectly soft and delicious (photo: https://yelp.to/aLk25aA6Pn), and the small $3.75 cup of Coffee (from Andytown Coffee Roasters) provided the right complement. SWEETS - 4 stars...the malasadas were great fresh from the fryer and I already knew the Dole Whip was aces AMBIANCE - 4 stars...still a nice-looking shop with limited counter seating SERVICE - 4 stars...quite nice with a mellow island vibe TOTAL - 4 stars...a bigger helping of Hawaii with their broader offering of sweet delights RELATED - Exploring the Outer Mission? Yelp
What a lovely spot with beautiful greenery, some seating and delicious island known sweets! Shave ice was made to order and I got the pineapple shave ice with icecream, ice cap and lihing powder. Also ordered four manasaldas two Nutella filled and two regular. I kind of wish the manasaldas were made to order as well so they'd be fresh and hot when you eat them(that's when they're the best) Service was quick and the worker was really nice. Answered all our questions! I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
Pineapples is finally open again, and now known as Far From Paradise! I'm so excited about them being open again that I'll round up my 3.5 stars. I live in a nearby, foggier neighborhood and love going to Balboa Park with my dog to get some sunshine. On a warm day, I crave nothing more than some shave ice. (Malasadas were sold out before we got here, but excited to try one in the future.) The shave ice is still really good, although the prices are much more expensive now (probably catching up to inflation and paying for the beautiful renovations). The menu is also way pared down from before, which is not necessarily a terrible thing since I used to get decision paralysis, but now I find myself missing POG and other flavors. Let it be known that we are anxiously awaiting the return of the dole whip though! Service still leaves much to be desired, especially for the high prices. They don't have quite enough machines (and maybe staff?) to service all the demand, so the wait can be long. I think we waited probably like 30-40 minutes from stepping into the shop to finally getting our food on this hot summer's day. I had ordered a small Island Breeze, but they told me and the person before me that they were out of guava (my favorite flavor!) and asked me for a substitute... but then they found it again for the next person. :( With the new renovations, there is more space for the kitchen area and less space for the customers. I think now there are only about 4 bar stools and 1 small bench to sit at inside. Most of us were standing outside, trying to finish our shave ice before it melted! One last note: I wish they were open longer through the evening since we usually think to get shave ice around like 5-6 PM, but I'm guessing staffing is difficult. Also, the Yelp hours are different from the Google hours, so not sure if they close at 4:30 or 5:30 on the weekends.

Yelp
Not open when they said they should be. Super irritated because there are other options and we drove out of the way to get here. Also they must have two names? There was no sign that said pineapples. Just some other name at the same address.

Yelp
Came in the store right when they open. I've always want to try their malasada. I just didn't have the time to go visit. The place was clean and very organized. The malasadas that I ordered were very good. Especially the filling in it. It has a very unique taste and flavor. It was very tasty. It's a little pricey but hey, bay area is very expensive anyway. They gotta make a living.

Yelp
pineapples rebranded/reopening as far from paradise ! 3.5 if i could due to the lack of stuff on the menu but subpar, pricey shaved ice. fyi: i never went to pineapples, so my review is just for far from paradise cafe, with no comparison to pineapples. i feel sad that i missed the dole whip tho :') i think this place is a great start when it comes to a shop that's paying homage to hawaiian vibes and sweets but i think there's a lot to be desired from this cafe. there's only one staff and they were on the slow paced side, though i can appreciate them taking the time to make the shaved ice look pretty and i look forward to see more items or offerings to be added onto their menu because right now, the menu is really really limited. (i waited nearly over 15 minutes cus the staff takes about 5 minutes per shaved ice with two shaved ice orders in front of me) food: the shaved ice was kinda underwhelming for the price, i believe i paid about $10 for a small? serving of ice is decent, but mochi was $1.50 extra and i only got like 6 pieces and for being mochi, they were pretty tough. while the flavoring was really artificial and sugary (huge huge emphasis on artificial) and didn't really taste like real fruits. the snow cap aka condensed milk was also not enough so it was just a lot of artificial flavoring. the partnership with ocean malasadas is a great start and i am in loveeee with their malasadas. it's not too sweet, plentiful filling, and great textures, like the sugar adds amazing texture but doesn't make the pastry sweeter. though the guava flavor tastes like an actual guava and coconut pudding did taste like coconut, i do wish the filling were a bit stronger/more intense as they were leaned more subtle in flavor impact. i will definitely return for their malasadas, specifically their lilikoi flavor but will pass on the shaved ice.
google avatar

Rose P.

Yelp
Owner is super friendly and helpful. The malasadas were yummy even though it was room temp (I went late in the afternoon) The lilikoi filling was thick and lucious deliciousness! I would definitely come back for these. The vibe is relaxing, a nice piece of paradise.

Ma M.

Yelp
Tried stopping by this place a couple of times and always closed. I think it is out of business. Please let me know if I am wrong but I always see it closed and even the website hours are incorrect.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Pineapples is pretty limited with their hours but I was able to go right before they closed. I found out the recommended combinations is just for the flavors and doesn't include the "pineapple's favorite" toppings. I ended up getting li hing (plum) powder and condensed milk on top of a guava, strawberry, pineapple flavor. The texture of the ice is pretty much like snow. There weren't giant ice chunks which I appreciate. The condensed milk is drizzled well over the entire cone. I would definitely come back!
google avatar

Mirabella C.

Yelp
Came here on a whim as my daughter was craving shaved ice and fortunately this establishment isn't far from Daly City. We ordered the rainbow shaved ice with condensed milk & mochi with 2 malasadas: haupia & lilikoi. The shaved ice was reminiscent of ones you would get in Hawaii however my only gripe is that I wish the malasadas were served hot & fresh. Nothing that a quick heat in the air fry can't fix but it would have made them so much more pleasant to eat upon purchase. Not much seating area however was clean and had countertop space along the windows. Service was attentive as we were the only customers. Overall, I would definitely come back for my shaved ice needs.
google avatar

Ruby B.

Yelp
Was craving a snack that reminded me of home so I went here a little after 4pm on a Friday and ordered the malasadas - traditional, guava, haupia, & lilikoi. The fillings were all very tasty. The malasada itself was room temp/cooled off. If you've had malasadas before, the best way to enjoy them is nice and hot/warm so I was disappointed. (Even if you bring them home to warm up in the microwave, the sugar melts away and gets soggy.) I would give 5 stars if those malasadas were made to order - fresh! Service - 5 stars Ambiance - 5 stars clean, cute decor
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
Hidden gem in your local neighborhood. Cute shop with the best shaved ice with so many flavor options. Service is friendly and helpful. I take my kids here wherever I can. I wish their hours were opened later. It's hard to get to the shop before 4:30.
google avatar

Jayme L.

Yelp
Super Amazing Shave Ice Make sure you get the SnowCap with your order. Makes a huge difference. Super chill place.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
I'm really disappointed of how pineapples has changed over the past few years. I have a photo of a few years ago and how the portion size changed since. I get maybe they're trying to cut costs during the pandemic but seriously how much could cutting the portion size really save? I'm okay paying more to help out during the tough times but the size was so small. I was also disappointed about the taste as the dole whip was more "icy" flavor rather than the creamy flavor I remember. The Mochi portion was also pretty skimpy with just a few pieces. $7 for a half filled cup is more of a rip off than Disneyland itself. Overall, I'll definitely give this place another chance and hopefully they'll improve enough for me to write another review. But for now, unfortunately I have to give only 2 star.
google avatar

Fancypants X.

Yelp
The window to get a taste of Hawaiian shave ice & Disneyland's Dole Whip at Pineapples is extremely limited; only open Friday, Saturday, & Sunday afternoons, if you're craving a tropical frozen treat outside of those hours, look elsewhere. Pineapples' Favorite is vanilla ice cream surrounded by pineapple flavoring, a snow cap of condensed milk, & topped with li hing powder. Would probably opt for a Dole Whip Float in its place next time. The Shave Ice had more flavor -- I added ice cream & mochi, & chose Piña Colada & P.O.G. (passionfruit, orange, guava) flavoring. Portion are skimpy & they seemed to be out of a few menu items, but the Excelsior is closer than Hawaii or Disneyland, so I'm coming back to Pineapples to get a quick fix.
google avatar

Lianna M.

Yelp
If you want a little taste of Disneyland, then you'll love the pineapple dole whip! Felt like I was standing in line for the Jungle Cruise! It was about $9.50 for a 16 oz dole whip with mochi on top. I knocked down a star because of the price. There were only about ten mochi pieces and they all hardened from the dole whip. Also by the time I ate the top, it was hollow in the middle! I think it would have been more worth it if it were a little cheaper, or if they filled the cup a bit more. Also the mochi wasn't worth the extra 75 cents. The girl that helped me was super nice so of course I tipped. So with tip one dole whip was about $10.50. I could wait until Disneyland opens to fulfill my next dole whip craving.
google avatar

Aaliyah M.

Yelp
Brought a couple of friends here for a Friday treat and was really excited about getting Dole Whip. We got there an hour before closing time and they were sold out! I wouldn't be as upset however this was the 2nd time this has happened! I visited Pineapples a couple months back and was disappointed learning they were out of Dole Whip. We got shave ice and the halos instead which were very yummy! Mochi is soft and syrup is distributed nicely in the ice. Flavors were great Shave Ice - 5/5 Green Tea Halo - 4.5/5, very good This would've been a 5 star review if there was dole whip, however I am very pleased with the menu options that were available. Tips for anyone who's planning on visiting, maybe call in to see if there is Dole Whip Available?
google avatar

Nathan J.

Yelp
Tony is super friendly and also does catering! Definitely worth a visit if you are having a Dole Whip craving but can't make it to Disneyland. And the malasadas... Sooooo good.

Katherine C.

Yelp
I have been wanting to find good shaved ice for years, and this place absolutely provides that. They have lots of good flavors, (and you can have more than one flavor at once), and the staff have been nice every time I've been so far. 100% would recommend if you like shaved ice (and while I have not tried the donuts, they look great as well)!
google avatar

Douglas Y.

Yelp
Was in da mood fo some malasadas. Luckily found dis place which is close to my work. Da buggah was grindz. Of course not like Tex's on Big Island or Lenard's on Oahu but still good. Always good to enjoy some local stuff.

Alexandra R.

Yelp
Blue Hawaii, Cherry, Lemon Lime with Mochi Topping So yummy! I've been missing Hawaiian shaved ice and this place makes it perfectly.

Kevin G.

Yelp
Finding good Malasadas outside of Hawaii is hard. I recently made an order for a large group and got the Guava, Lilikoi, Leche, Nutella and traditional flavors. Everyone who had one (most of which have never had one before) loved it! This is the closest thing I've had since Hawaii. Big thanks to Issac for helping me with my large order and I will be back for more!
google avatar

Carmina R.

Yelp
On the corner of a quieter street and didn't have trouble finding parking. Our order did take a while, but when we saw the size of the treats, totally understandable! Would have loved to have options of different sizes, because these bowls were very generous. Safe and easy, contactless transaction at the door- Apple Pay and plexiglass shield present. Not super super sweet, which one can appreciate! We got a guava, passion fruit, and a blue Hawaii shaved ice. Added mochi, but wouldn't recommend, as mochi looses its soft, chewy, texture when sorrounded by ice..go figure! No outdoor seating, so we ate in the car, but overall good experience. I'd come back to try the dole whip!

Michelle R.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Shave ice is to die for but the malasadas are even better. Fresh and soft, amazing fillings! Mmmmm we love to get there as close to opening as possible to get the freshest pick. I would go there every morning if I could! Service is great too.
google avatar

Domenic V.

Yelp
I would have given them 5 stars if they actually had regular business hours. Apparently they are now permanently closed, which is a shame. Great place for pineapple dole whips (WHEN their machine was working) seems like they were open less and less, which i dont see being the pandemics fault. When they were open they seemed busy....i think only 2 people worked there. They ended up pretty much just having shave-ice in the end.

Monika S.

Yelp
instagram account say's reference help for hours, referenced yelp and said it was open. Put the kids in the car and got here to only find out it was closed. Please get it together with your hours.
google avatar

Karen Y.

Yelp
Exclaimer: this is only for the quality of the the acai bowl itself. Can't say for anything else in the store since I didn't try anything else. I know this place was known for their dole whip, but I saw their menu included acai bowls so I tried that. It was totally not up to expectations. I know the guy took tim to prepare it and it looked nice, but I was super disappointed in it. The bowl itself was watery and didn't have the right consistency. The toppings were nice, but just wish the bowl matched it.
google avatar

Priscilla L.

Yelp
After 4 years, the quality has gone down with the simple dole whip. Twice i went back here I this year, and the dole whip not smooth and creamy as it once was. It is icy . Once the place started to expand their menu to other items, I feel that they lost their main focus of dole whip. When all they had was just dole whip the quality was impeccable and impressive. Sad, the search for best dole whip continues.

B M.

Yelp
Serves Shaved Ice like if you're in Hawaii. Had the Hawaii Special and it was loaded with LiHing powder - so good. Wish they brought back the Dole Whip Floats !!
google avatar

Stella J.

Yelp
Pineapples is one of those places if you are in the area then check it out, it's not one of those places to come out of your way to come to. One of the things that's weird is their hours, my friend had called to make sure they are open and they said they would be closing at 8, but they closed at like 530pm. We came here for the dole whip float with pineapple and I added mochi. It was pretty decent , not quite like Disneyland or the dole plantation. It was a bit on the icy side not quite smooth and creamy. But it was still decent. My friend got the shave iced with dole whip inside, she got strawberry lemonade and guava. I tried her shave ice and it tasted very artificial for the flavors, both were not that good. And the ice wasn't as powdery or as fine as it is in Hawaii. For being one of the only options for dole whip and shave ice this place is decent and place to try only if you are in the area. Don't make a special trip here cause I've seen in other reviews the owners set their own hours and it's not usually the ones listed on yelp. Total for 1: $6
google avatar

Noelle H.

Yelp
I've never had dole whip, so when I saw I didn't have to travel to Disneyland to get one, I figured I'd give it a try! Location is small and parking can be a pain, but we lucked out and was able to get a parking spot close by. I ordered the dole whip float with pineapple juice. The dole whip was refreshing and delicious! The acidity of the pineapple went well with the soft serve, but it wasn't overly sweet. Portion size is enough to share for two people. Service was friendly!
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
Omfg. Best dole whip ever & best soft serve I've had in a very long time. Smooth, grainy consistency that I seriously love. I could eat this all day! Perfect amount of sweet, not too much or too little. Price is decent for the size. The spot has seating available and large glass walls to enjoy the sun & look out at if you choose to sit and eat. Clean , well maintained interior. Only reason I knocked off a star is because the hours are not open early or late enough for ppl to rly enjoy. And I also arrived here at noon on a Saturday and waited 5 min but no one was there to open up shop. Businesses should be arriving early to setup and open on time, not arriving late. C'mon, take my money responsibly! Hire better staff.
google avatar

Elaine S.

Yelp
Get the Dole whip with a guava floater... what dreams are made of.
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
After kicking my date's butt at Dave and Buster's we headed over to Pineapples for some dessert. I had never been here before but he said this spot was great. Man was he right! Reminded me of Disneyland! Would recommend to come try this place out if you're looking for something sweet!
google avatar

Allyson L.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try the Pineapple Dole whip down in Disneyland or in Hawaii, but this place will have to do for now. My friends and I came here just for the Dole whip and it did not disappoint. I have a love hate relationship with pineapples since they sometimes make my tongue feel really tingly, but when pineapples are ripe, they can be some of the sweetest fruits. In Dole whip form, I loved the pineapples. It tasted really good and not too overly sweet. It was just the right amount. If you're craving a pineapple Dole whip, I would suggest coming here if you can't make your way to Disneyland or Hawaii anytime soon.
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Long lines but definitely worth the wait! This refreshing take on a classic Hawaiian desert hits spots I didn't even know I had... especially on a hot day.
google avatar

Lilian L.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place. Originally suppose to go with someone else.. I got the Dole Whip Float with pineapple juice (there's a guava juice option if that's more of your preference). Breakdown: -Pineapple Juice: It was gross.. tasted odd and bitter. Not what I'm use to for pineapple juice. -Dole Whip: That part was delicious. Worth it. Maybe a little more over-hyped than usual. But still pretty good, *I'd just get the Dole Whip next time without the extra fuss or maybe I'll try the float with guava juice. But, I don't think I'd want juice after from the initial experience. It'd be good on it's own.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
i finally got to try Pineapples after five long years of wanting to try!! i never had the chance to go especially back then because it seemed like the hours were totally off originally but had the opportunity to try their dole whip when i was missing Disneyland a little extra this year. for the price of it, it doesn't have the right consistency/texture of the soft serve dole whip at disneyland but it's a great substitute if you just want that happiest place on earth vibes!
google avatar

Sf Momm Y.

Yelp
Went on the hottest day of the year... no huge line so we were stoked, since we had many kids in tow. Dole whip was not ready and NOT acceptable, but they sold it to me anyway... it was like a slimy icee texture. I have had the real deal many times and this wasn't it. Period. Quality control, people!!!! If you don't have it, people aren't going to come back. And for $6/pop, that is not cheap when you're getting one each per kid. Waited for other dole whips to come out for over 30min and machine seemed broken but no one would admit it. No apology. We had to ask staff to switch out for shave ices instead, which I would have done at home for pennies. Literally. I had never been because they never seemed open during the day.... Apparently they don't keep regular hours. Ridic. Also, boss man places his huge baby stroller in the middle of the store and impedes seating which is just as ridic and simply rude. Also pricing is $4 /9oz or $6/12oz which is odd (more expensive per ounce for large size) I can tell from pics that they can do it right but today they served substantially poor quality dole whip and I paid almost $11 including toppings. Yeah, not happening again. See pic, the one on the left is from pineapples and it was hardly even a solid, more like a slurpee.
google avatar

Tara A.

Yelp
My bf and I came here for a quick snack! We got the dole whip float with guava juice, and added li hing powder and mochi for $0.50 each. The dole whip tasted authentic, just like the dole whip i've had at Disneyland and the Dole Plantation in Hawaii! The whip was smooth and flavorful! I liked the option of having guava juice for the float instead of pineapple juice too. Our only gripe was that we only got 6 pieces of mochi for the $0.50 we paid... Definitely a little disappointing! Thankfully, my bf asked the worker for more and he gave us extra in a little cup.
google avatar

Emily X.

Yelp
The wait varies, but is usually relatively quick. This is the only place that serves good shaved ice in the Bay Area. My favorite flavors are pink lemonade, cotton candy, blue raspberry, and orange. Not too sweet and good portions (pretty huge actually). Something to not get- the mochi, it's just not good. And it costs 50 cents for the tiniest amount. The bathroom door also doesn't close or lock.
google avatar

Angelina G.

Yelp
I came here to try their dole whip again but turns out their machine isn't working correctly. I should've listened to the yelp review posted earlier. So I just went for shave ice. The shave ice: It was nice, cold, and refreshing. The flavors were there. The ice was shaved nice. Not much to say since it's just shave ice haha. The store: It was clean and it had a very teenager vibe to it. The cashier was pretty kind. There's no active phone at this place which is disappointing because as mentioned in previous yelp reviews it seems like they don't open at 12:30. So I tried calling to see if they're open but their number doesn't work. I hope the machine gets fixed and they fix their hours/phone.

Yelp
DOLE WHIP! Yes, I was so excited to find a place that served Dole Whip in SF. Dole Whip is the highlight of Disneyland and Hawaii, so coming to Pineapples makes you feel like you are no longer in SF, which is a nice feel. The store itself feels a bit out of place in the neighborhood. It's a small shop with about 4 tables and a bar area but it isn't too crowded even on a Saturday afternoon. The workers here are super friendly and gave us such huge portions! We got 2 regular Dole Whips and we honestly could've just shared 1. I think the portion for 1 is really really huge and is definitely killer. The Dole Whip here is extra creamy - almost overly creamy, but it is really good and refreshing. I would definitely recommend this place to people feeling that nostalgia for Disneyland.

Yelp
This was another spot that I found via Instagram and we came here for a little birthday treat on my special day! This spot is off the beaten path to be sure, but worth the effort to come. It's a teeny tiny place with DELICIOUS pineapple treats! Just like a taste of Hawaii to be sure. I had the pineapple whip topped with fresh coconut shavings. THE. BOMB. DOT. COM. It was so fresh and dreamy and I closed my eyes and went on a vacation! They have tons of options, toppings, concoctions. Something for everyone. There is ZERO place to sit outside. Weird I thought. And maybe places for 7-8 people inside. We ended up eating our treat in the car. I wish they had some little chairs out front on the sidewalk. Parking is difficult. You might have to circle a few times. We parked about a block away by a school.
