You might be wondering, what’s the reason for the 3 stars? I want to clarify this is not a bashing review and you SHOULD check out this restaurant. I clarify below.
Our experience at this restaurant was pleasant, but we are not in a rush to go back. The service was average, but the atmosphere did feel pleasant.
To start, we ordered two “shareables”, the Crab Dumplings and the Tuna Tartare.
These were both great appetizers and had a great combination of flavors, however, for the price-calorie/price-portion ratio, the flavors did not make up for this.
The Tuna Tartare appeared to give us about 4oz of Tartare for $18 accompanied by shrimp chips. Unfortunately I think this is an extremely small portion especially for two people. It should not be labeled as a “shareable”.
In my opinion the Crab Dumplings were slightly more reasonable as they were more fulfilling, at $20 for 6-7 dumplings.
These were both pretty good dishes. They were welcomed and plates cleaned.
Our main courses were the Big Kahuna Burger and the Rum & Coke (a pulled pork sandwich of sorts).
The Big Kahuna Burger was flavorful and very good. No complaints there.
The Rum and Coke on the other hand was hard to split even between two people, largely because it was dry, had no flavor, and had just far too much bread. I have seen others have similar reasoning. The sandwich unfortunately came with absolutely no sauce (maybe a DASH of it) when we opened it up to examine. Its flavor profile is not exactly what the menu depicts, and needs work.
On the bright side, their French fries are absolutely nailed down. Crispy, airy, and a wonderful seasoning. We couldn’t stop eating them.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here, but for the price, and the overall big picture of the experience, we won’t be in a rush to return.
