Best New Restaurants in Baltimore, According to Eater Editors | Eater DC

"From Dutch Courage co-owners Brendan Door and Eric Fooy comes another smart, fun, educational corner bar. This time, the focus is on rum. With vivid, leafy murals and a decidedly tropical motif, The Pink Flamingo fittingly opened just as the temperatures warmed up at the start of April. In a space once occupied by the beloved neighborhood bar Dizzy Izzie’s (later renamed The Dizz), the concept has big shoes to fill. Unsurprisingly, on our first two visits, we’ve been impressed with the cocktails — namely the bitter, rum-based Whirlybird and the N/A amaro mule, The Road Less Traveled. Plus, the list of more than 150 rums complete with expert tasting notes should keep things interesting. Food service will be starting in the coming weeks with dishes like lumpia and a burger topped with pineapple jam. A second floor, decorated with vintage Pachinko machines, is available for dining and private events." - Jess Mayhugh

Colorful and funky cocktail bar with surprisingly delicious food. While the place seems best known for its creative cocktails, the food menu is equally impressive. We had the classic burger, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had — incredibly juicy, with a soft yet sturdy bun that held everything together perfectly. The fries were equally delicious, nicely spiced with a little bit of heat. The service was great, and the staff were extremely friendly. You can sit at the bar or at a table, both offering a relaxed vibe. A perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the evening after work.

Great new neighborhood bar at the site of a previous beloved spot. Rum-focused menu but lots of interesting variety, and good non-alcoholic mocktail options as well. The kitchen recently opened and has a lot of options I’m looking forward to trying out!

I’m an old school patron of Dizzy Issie’s/ The Dizz, so I was very excited to experience Pink Flamingo. I was left underwhelmed. I went on a Friday evening around 7pm, the staff was great, the food was meh. I ordered steak frites medium rare and had to send back. The steak was mushy, like organ meat and on the cold side. The replacement was pink (not hot), and not seasoned well. I really wanted to love this place but was extremely disappointed. While the service was great, I don’t see myself going back until they get their kitchen in order.

Awesome concept! If you love rum cocktails you're going to love this place. Awesome vibe. Great cocktails.

We have been a few times for drinks but had the food for the first time last night. The mushroom sandwich had so many delicious flavors. It was so well seasoned. Would definitely get again. The tempura green beans were great with an aioli I wanted to take home. My wife loved her chicken sandwich.

I took my wife for her birthday and we had a great time. The food, service and atmosphere are all top notch. It is clear that the owners and staff have put a lot of thought into all of the details. Go for the spam chips, they are funky deliciousness.

The burger didn’t have any hint of pink in it and wasn’t worth $18. One would assume the server would ask how we wanted the burger cooked but apparently they just assumed extra well done or they warmed up a burger that was previously cooked. The strawberry mint shrub drink was ok, but wasn’t well balanced. If anyone had asked me how the food or drinks were I would have shared this. Wanted to like this place but left disappointed.

Great staff. Wonderful drinks. Delicious food. I am so thrilled that this corner operation gets the revival that it truly deserves. In the past, I spent many afternoons and evenings in this storied building when it was Dizzy Issie's. I have so many good memories within this structure. Being able to come back to continue making good memories is something I look forward to at Pink Flamingo. The owner(s) should be proud at creating a space that feels like being in a cozy tropical vacation bungalow while serving great fare. The tuna tartare was really well executed and the shrimp chips made it feel like a fun Jetsons type of snack. The Big Kahuna Burger was so good; the beef really stood out as it was incredibly flavorful. But the star of the show was the Yuzu Panna Cotta at the end. Silky citrus with a very slight hint of pine that gets washed over with incredibly velvety cream. What a delight. Thanks for a great anniversary evening, Pink Flamingo!

Yelp
Solid, solid local watering hole located in the former dizz spot. Close to all the Remington things like R House, Greedy Reads. I love the bar manager here, Nick and the owners, Erik and Brendon are just the loveliest humans. It's a really beautiful spot with lots of natural lighting. The second floor space is really cool with some old Pachinko games. The food has been really really good, and it just keeps getting better and better every time I come. I will order everything off of the special menu and with some of the hard times financially everyone is having they are doing really solid deals almost daily. It's meant to evoke a dive bar, but it's really authentically on theme and gorgeous and a spot where you can have a great time! When I first came to pink flamingo, the cocktails weren't as good. I think the staff was still getting trained but now I go when Nick and Satchel are there, and I just have the best time.

Yelp
Pink Flamingo is a cool addition to the neighborhood. The service was attentive and all of our questions were answered. Great recommendations were made as well. Keep in mind that if you're not an into tiki drinks, the cocktails may not be your speed. Maybe go with a beer or wine. We personally enjoyed our drinks and they were very spirited. My group started with apps, Tempura Green Beans (delicious!) and Tuna Tartare. The tuna tartare was giving me a little sour cream and onion taste which I was not a fan of, but my friend loved it. For my main course I went with The Shroom. I absolutely enjoyed this sandwich. The bread was soft, the mushrooms were seasoned beautifully and I hate mayo, but the curry mayo was chefs kiss. My bestie ordered the rum and coke pulled pork which she loved, and my partner ordered the short rib burger and she is still raving about it. Dessert was the Suncrustable and honestly non of us enjoyed it. We couldn't get into the chocolate with blueberry and mango situation. I'm also not a big fan of cardamom and that was heavy in the dish.

Yelp
The Pink Flamingo is a great addition to the neighnorhood, this spot used to be the Dizz but they have done a complete 180 on the space renovation wise. Its bright, its vibrant, and they have great cocktails. I have stopped by twice since they opened. I have enjoyed six cocktails. Enjoyed 5 out of the 6. No food yet, i did overhear that hopefully they would have the kitchen running in a month. I enjoyed the Harpoon, Harborside property, Fireside, Dizzy Flamingo, Whirlybird. The sixth drink which so happened to be the most expensive was not my cup of tea. It was the Viva La Vida, struggled to drink that and called it a day. Usually i will tell a bartender if i didnt like it a drink and its taking off the bill. I didnt do that this time. I obviously know i wont order that again. Tried their food menu, wings were phenomenal it was a mango spicy flavored wing. The burger was forgetable too salty, i didnt finish it, The fries were awesome even tho lukewarm, the kitchen has to work on their timing on that one.

Yelp
I love Pink Flamingo! The vibes are truly great, the staff and patrons are all so friendly and it does really feel like a fun neighborhood bar. While tiki drinks are not usually my favorite, I have grown to enjoy a few on the menu- the dizzy flamingo is a great option for anyone who is not a huge tiki fan. They do also make any classic cocktail that you would want and I love how affordable the beer and wine options are. I have only eaten here once, but I did enjoy the food! I thought the wings with the mango sauce in particular were awesome! I definitely find myself craving it. I'd like to try their burger in the future. They are still new so I think starting off had some growing pains but in the past month or two I have noticed a huge improvement overall! Definitely check them out, I am a regular patron!

Yelp
I've been to the pink flamingo a few times since they've opened. They serve food late, which is hard to find around here. The dim lighting is very nice and inviting but for the older folks you'll probably need a flashlight to read the menu. The folks working here, both the servers and bartenders, are all very nice and talkative. Every time I've come here I've ordered the flaming O because it tastes like ice cream and packs a punch. Don't sleep on their food too- their fries and dry rub wings are seasoned really well. I've also tried their chicken sandwich which is pretty good, although I wish there were pickles. This place is quite pricey, but their happy hour and daily specials are decent so if you don't want to drop a bag check the schedule. I come here regularly and haven't found anything bad.

Yelp
First time going to Pink Flamingo since it's opening. We tried the Flaming "O" cocktail and it was so good! As my silly fiancé said, "wow talk about yum town!" Ordered some fries and they were well seasoned. Definitely recommend. We also had seen someone else post about the spam chips and dips, so we had to try that too. Again, another winner! Spam is already salty, so having them in chip form made them slightly saltier. But the freshly-made French onion dip was such a good balance to the salty. I would say this place is a little on the pricier said, but then again you get what you pay for. Look forward to visiting again

Yelp
The folks behind Dutch Courage opened Pink Flamingo a few months ago. As a big fan of Dutch Courage, I was really excited to have a great bar in Remington - we walk between Hampden and Remington all the time and have been hoping a business could find success in this space. Unfortunately, I'm just not a huge fan of tiki drinks. I've probably tried 4 or 5 cocktails from their menu now, and I find them all a little heavy on the aromatic liqueurs important to tiki drinks. I wish they had a few more cocktails that were more classic or still tropical but refreshing for those of us that don't love those aromatic cocktails. They do have a version of a margarita that is more my speed/taste. They also have wine and beer as well (and do pitchers of beer). They have some NA options, too, but my friend had an NA cocktail had that was so heavy on the shrub that it tasting like drinking vinegar rather than a balanced drink. I haven't eaten at Pink Flamingo, but my husband had some food there before I met up with him at the bar this past Saturday, and he said it was good. The decor is charming in that first area downstairs where the bar is, but it's pretty sparse in the back of the first floor and upstairs. I definitely recommend sitting at the bar if you're in a smaller group - best vibes in the bar. I think the best things about Pink Flamingo is the location (what a great corner in a great neighborhood) and the service - everyone who works there is great, so helpful and friendly. Overall, a good neighborhood - especially if you love the flavors of tiki drinks. It's an area we're in a lot, so I'm sure we'll continue to patronize!

Yelp
Amazing service, gorgeous ambiance - delicious food. I ordered the planentarium and my friend ordered the dizzy flamingo. Lexi served us and treated us like family! Great date spot.

Yelp
Wow, I've never had such horrible service. The manager argued with me. What, wait, yes. Todd said "it was his house". The food was ok, the fries cold after a second visit, again. The server was wonderful and gracious. Regardless, Never in my life have I had someone, the manager, be so inhospitable. With leadership like this, they'll go out of business. Don't go. I hate I spent almost $200 with that level of immaturity. Get a grip, Todd. Heard you were like this at Rye street too... get a grip, girl. Worst leadership. Todd is an embarrassment to our community.

Yelp
Expensive, bland food. Staff who think they're better than you. A sparse open space. What more could you want to avoid in a restaurant experience?
