Best New Restaurants in Baltimore, According to Eater Editors | Eater DC

"From Dutch Courage co-owners Brendan Door and Eric Fooy comes another smart, fun, educational corner bar. This time, the focus is on rum. With vivid, leafy murals and a decidedly tropical motif, The Pink Flamingo fittingly opened just as the temperatures warmed up at the start of April. In a space once occupied by the beloved neighborhood bar Dizzy Izzie’s (later renamed The Dizz), the concept has big shoes to fill. Unsurprisingly, on our first two visits, we’ve been impressed with the cocktails — namely the bitter, rum-based Whirlybird and the N/A amaro mule, The Road Less Traveled. Plus, the list of more than 150 rums complete with expert tasting notes should keep things interesting. Food service will be starting in the coming weeks with dishes like lumpia and a burger topped with pineapple jam. A second floor, decorated with vintage Pachinko machines, is available for dining and private events." - Jess Mayhugh

Great atmosphere and staff was very friendly. The food was ok. I was expecting the spam chips to be warm but they were cold. They still tasted well. The kahuna burger had good sauce but the patty was not medium. The Pulled pork sandwich was not great. The rum and Coke sauce that was on it tasted like straight alcohol. Cocktail's were really good and the fries were my favorite.

What a fun and charming spot in walking distance from Baltimore attractions and local shops. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was charming and the food was very good. You never know who you will meet on an adventure and lucky me...I ran into Santa enjoying a drink and a meal at this establishment. So, it must be a winner 🤗.

Overall a great experience. Perfect spot for a date night or dinner and drinks with friends. We went during shark week and they were doing specialty drinks and giving some of the sales to the national aquarium. The top items: the fries (perfectly seasoned, would go back just for these), the staff (actual gems of human beings), and the cocktail menu. I love a sweet and fruity cocktail and they have tons of options. They also have other options for a more mellow flavor if thats what you like. What I would like to see improved: the Rum & Coke. It’s like a mix between a bahn mi and a pulled pork sandwich, but it’s lacking in sauce. I would love to be able to have something on the side to dip it in French dip style. Truly this is a great addition to the neighborhood. Will definitely be returning.

Pink Flamingo is a new bar that opened up in the area where Let's Brunch Cafe used to be. I can't comment specifically on the food, but the drinks were just alright. They were a little too strong to the taste of me and others in my party. They also took 30 minutes to come out, which is a bit long considering we didn't order any food.

Colorful and funky cocktail bar with surprisingly delicious food. While the place seems best known for its creative cocktails, the food menu is equally impressive. We had the classic burger, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had — incredibly juicy, with a soft yet sturdy bun that held everything together perfectly. The fries were equally delicious, nicely spiced with a little bit of heat. The service was great, and the staff were extremely friendly. You can sit at the bar or at a table, both offering a relaxed vibe. A perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the evening after work.

Accommodated our entire acapella group upstairs after our concert. The wait staff was super kind, our waitress was a rockstar! The food and mixed drinks are exciting and creative, they were a big talking point of our dinner. Lovely place! Random: I love the glasses they use for beer. It reminds me of Europe. They use shorter and thicker glasses that are so satisfying.

You might be wondering, what’s the reason for the 3 stars? I want to clarify this is not a bashing review and you SHOULD check out this restaurant. I clarify below. Our experience at this restaurant was pleasant, but we are not in a rush to go back. The service was average, but the atmosphere did feel pleasant. To start, we ordered two “shareables”, the Crab Dumplings and the Tuna Tartare. These were both great appetizers and had a great combination of flavors, however, for the price-calorie/price-portion ratio, the flavors did not make up for this. The Tuna Tartare appeared to give us about 4oz of Tartare for $18 accompanied by shrimp chips. Unfortunately I think this is an extremely small portion especially for two people. It should not be labeled as a “shareable”. In my opinion the Crab Dumplings were slightly more reasonable as they were more fulfilling, at $20 for 6-7 dumplings. These were both pretty good dishes. They were welcomed and plates cleaned. Our main courses were the Big Kahuna Burger and the Rum & Coke (a pulled pork sandwich of sorts). The Big Kahuna Burger was flavorful and very good. No complaints there. The Rum and Coke on the other hand was hard to split even between two people, largely because it was dry, had no flavor, and had just far too much bread. I have seen others have similar reasoning. The sandwich unfortunately came with absolutely no sauce (maybe a DASH of it) when we opened it up to examine. Its flavor profile is not exactly what the menu depicts, and needs work. On the bright side, their French fries are absolutely nailed down. Crispy, airy, and a wonderful seasoning. We couldn’t stop eating them. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here, but for the price, and the overall big picture of the experience, we won’t be in a rush to return.

Yelp
Driving past I noticed Pink Flamingo and I have been curious ever since. I finally had a chance to check it out and I enjoyed my visit! Service was excellent, Lexi was very attentive and helpful. The crab dumplings were veryyyy veryyyy tasty. I can't wait to try more food. Pink flamingo is a very cute bar and restaurant and pretty busy around prime dinner hours. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
It's cute. I've been at least 5 times. Sunday night is low key and a lovely time to drop in for a quiet drink. Summing up my visits: Drinks are always on point. Dizzy Flamingo, which seems to be a mainstay on their menu, is my go-to, but all the other drinks I've tried (at least 4-5 others) were all great. Fries were good, nice level of seasoning. They're a tad more than I'd like to pay, at 7 bucks a side plate, but it is what it is. Wings are large & juicy, with intriguing flavors (tried mango and pomegranate walnut; they also have a slightly more traditional chili hot sauce). The mushroom sandwich was kind of soggy and under-seasoned; they could change this by deep frying the mushrooms in a bit of breading, adding more herbs, spicing up the mayo & having more sharply pickled veggies. My fiance loves the oysters. It can get loud in there. They seem to make the irritatingly common restaurant mistake of raising the music level in concert with the number of people inside the space. IMO, the music should be a backdrop, not my competition when I'm trying to talk to my friends. Service is OK; it's, well, serviceable. Could be better, could be worse. Overall, I'm a Remington local, and I'm happy this place has joined the block. They recently changed their happy hour times, they change their menu with the seasons, and they're figuring things out. I'm sure this is going to become a slightly upscale but still fun and affordable neighborhood staple.

Yelp
Glad to see something locally owned taking over the former Dizz space! Pink Flamingo has some big shoes to fill since the Dizz's reputation has lived on even after its pandemic-era closing. The inside has gotten a full refresh - I love the hand painted "wallpaper" and the sunny, tiki-inspired bar. We stopped by just for drinks and I enjoyed everything we tried. Lots of rum-based cocktails and refreshing drinks. The menu is a good size with a fair amount of options without being too overwhelming. Prices are reasonable too with drinks ranging from $12 to $15. I got the dizzy flamingo which was pretty good but I'd probably opt for a classic pina colada or the flaming "o" next time. We didn't try any of the food and I've heard mixed thoughts on that but overall, I like the vibe here and would return!

Yelp
I haven't been to this space since it was "The Dizz" . My neighbors recommended the wings , spam chips & drinks so I decided to give it a try . The space is Gorg , updated , vibrant with Pink Flamingos . The staff are all warm , knowledgeable and inviting . It feels like a Mini Vaca any day of the week . I kept things basic this go round with Mango Spicy wings & Fries . The wings were flavorful , crispy : delish !! My Friend ordered Oxtail Dumplings . They were cooked to perfection with the perfect balance of spice .

Yelp
I simply love this place. Let's get into it. I first went to the pink flamingo over the holiday and let me just tell you I will be back. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by smiling faces who are so welcoming. The bar itself is so quintessentially Baltimore and I love that. I'm a sucker for a great cocktail bar that has fabulous decor on this particular day. We were meeting with friends who were in town who are cocktail aficionados so I knew the pink flamingo had to be the spot to be. We went upstairs where there is ample seating for a large party. We ordered some items off the menu which were delicious. I personally loved the fries the tempura veggies and the burger was a hit now let's get into the main show the cocktails I loved them. I had to take on a spicy margarita and if you know me, I live for a margarita, especially one that's spicy. the pink flamingo is the sister bar to my all-time favorite bar in Baltimore Dutch courage. I am so excited to experience this bar again and will be back within the new year.

Yelp
Solid, solid local watering hole located in the former dizz spot. Close to all the Remington things like R House, Greedy Reads. I love the bar manager here, Nick and the owners, Erik and Brendon are just the loveliest humans. It's a really beautiful spot with lots of natural lighting. The second floor space is really cool with some old Pachinko games. The food has been really really good, and it just keeps getting better and better every time I come. I will order everything off of the special menu and with some of the hard times financially everyone is having they are doing really solid deals almost daily. It's meant to evoke a dive bar, but it's really authentically on theme and gorgeous and a spot where you can have a great time! When I first came to pink flamingo, the cocktails weren't as good. I think the staff was still getting trained but now I go when Nick and Satchel are there, and I just have the best time.

Yelp
I love Pink Flamingo! The vibes are truly great, the staff and patrons are all so friendly and it does really feel like a fun neighborhood bar. While tiki drinks are not usually my favorite, I have grown to enjoy a few on the menu- the dizzy flamingo is a great option for anyone who is not a huge tiki fan. They do also make any classic cocktail that you would want and I love how affordable the beer and wine options are. I have only eaten here once, but I did enjoy the food! I thought the wings with the mango sauce in particular were awesome! I definitely find myself craving it. I'd like to try their burger in the future. They are still new so I think starting off had some growing pains but in the past month or two I have noticed a huge improvement overall! Definitely check them out, I am a regular patron!

Yelp
I've been to the pink flamingo a few times since they've opened. They serve food late, which is hard to find around here. The dim lighting is very nice and inviting but for the older folks you'll probably need a flashlight to read the menu. The folks working here, both the servers and bartenders, are all very nice and talkative. Every time I've come here I've ordered the flaming O because it tastes like ice cream and packs a punch. Don't sleep on their food too- their fries and dry rub wings are seasoned really well. I've also tried their chicken sandwich which is pretty good, although I wish there were pickles. This place is quite pricey, but their happy hour and daily specials are decent so if you don't want to drop a bag check the schedule. I come here regularly and haven't found anything bad.

Yelp
My mom and I came in around 11 on a Sunday morning. This place is somewhat new and my mom had tried it before and loved it so she wanted to bring me here. There is a good amount of parking in this area with the police lot so that wasn't an issue at all. We were seated immediately and were brought coffee and waters by our nice waitress. We started with the French toast sticks which were SO delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with a delicious flavor and sauce and toppings on top; like the frozen ones from childhood but elevated to the next level. For our mains we both had the Trad Brunch which comes with 2 eggs, bacon, toast, and purple breakfast potatoes. We got our eggs over easy and the chef understood the assignment. Our eggs were cooked perfectly with a nice runny yolk. The bacon was thick and tasty. The toast was cooked in butter and nice and crispy. The potatoes were crispy and soft on the inside. All together the bite was amazing. Simple and perfect. I also liked the sauce they brought us. Will definitely be back here and totally recommend for brunch in the Remington area.

Yelp
Pink Flamingo is a cool addition to the neighborhood. The service was attentive and all of our questions were answered. Great recommendations were made as well. Keep in mind that if you're not an into tiki drinks, the cocktails may not be your speed. Maybe go with a beer or wine. We personally enjoyed our drinks and they were very spirited. My group started with apps, Tempura Green Beans (delicious!) and Tuna Tartare. The tuna tartare was giving me a little sour cream and onion taste which I was not a fan of, but my friend loved it. For my main course I went with The Shroom. I absolutely enjoyed this sandwich. The bread was soft, the mushrooms were seasoned beautifully and I hate mayo, but the curry mayo was chefs kiss. My bestie ordered the rum and coke pulled pork which she loved, and my partner ordered the short rib burger and she is still raving about it. Dessert was the Suncrustable and honestly non of us enjoyed it. We couldn't get into the chocolate with blueberry and mango situation. I'm also not a big fan of cardamom and that was heavy in the dish.

Yelp
First time going to Pink Flamingo since it's opening. We tried the Flaming "O" cocktail and it was so good! As my silly fiancé said, "wow talk about yum town!" Ordered some fries and they were well seasoned. Definitely recommend. We also had seen someone else post about the spam chips and dips, so we had to try that too. Again, another winner! Spam is already salty, so having them in chip form made them slightly saltier. But the freshly-made French onion dip was such a good balance to the salty. I would say this place is a little on the pricier said, but then again you get what you pay for. Look forward to visiting again

Yelp
We love the oyster appetizer and the crispy chicken sandwich is amazing. The bartenders are great and make the most amazing specialty cocktails, whether it's on the menu or something special they've got you covered.

Yelp
The Pink Flamingo is a great addition to the neighnorhood, this spot used to be the Dizz but they have done a complete 180 on the space renovation wise. Its bright, its vibrant, and they have great cocktails. I have stopped by twice since they opened. I have enjoyed six cocktails. Enjoyed 5 out of the 6. No food yet, i did overhear that hopefully they would have the kitchen running in a month. I enjoyed the Harpoon, Harborside property, Fireside, Dizzy Flamingo, Whirlybird. The sixth drink which so happened to be the most expensive was not my cup of tea. It was the Viva La Vida, struggled to drink that and called it a day. Usually i will tell a bartender if i didnt like it a drink and its taking off the bill. I didnt do that this time. I obviously know i wont order that again. Tried their food menu, wings were phenomenal it was a mango spicy flavored wing. The burger was forgetable too salty, i didnt finish it, The fries were awesome even tho lukewarm, the kitchen has to work on their timing on that one.

Yelp
The folks behind Dutch Courage opened Pink Flamingo a few months ago. As a big fan of Dutch Courage, I was really excited to have a great bar in Remington - we walk between Hampden and Remington all the time and have been hoping a business could find success in this space. Unfortunately, I'm just not a huge fan of tiki drinks. I've probably tried 4 or 5 cocktails from their menu now, and I find them all a little heavy on the aromatic liqueurs important to tiki drinks. I wish they had a few more cocktails that were more classic or still tropical but refreshing for those of us that don't love those aromatic cocktails. They do have a version of a margarita that is more my speed/taste. They also have wine and beer as well (and do pitchers of beer). They have some NA options, too, but my friend had an NA cocktail had that was so heavy on the shrub that it tasting like drinking vinegar rather than a balanced drink. I haven't eaten at Pink Flamingo, but my husband had some food there before I met up with him at the bar this past Saturday, and he said it was good. The decor is charming in that first area downstairs where the bar is, but it's pretty sparse in the back of the first floor and upstairs. I definitely recommend sitting at the bar if you're in a smaller group - best vibes in the bar. I think the best things about Pink Flamingo is the location (what a great corner in a great neighborhood) and the service - everyone who works there is great, so helpful and friendly. Overall, a good neighborhood - especially if you love the flavors of tiki drinks. It's an area we're in a lot, so I'm sure we'll continue to patronize!

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and drinks Had a drink with 9 North rum and it was fantastic. Can't wait to come back

Jared

Yelp
The customer service was great! Our food not so much. There was 4 of us, the half chicken, the big kahuna, the fish and chips, and the rum and coke sandwich was ordered. Really the only one us that enjoyed the food was the burger. There was supposed to be some BBQ sauce on the rum and coke sandwich but I didn't really taste it, it was dry otherwise. The fish was not seasoned. And the fries were over spiced; not spicy , just too much of whatever sauce was on them. The drunks ordered were the whirlybird, the girl from Ipenema, and the bottom of the barrel(?). They were rum drinks so if you like rum you'll like them!

Jackie N.

Yelp
Amazing service, gorgeous ambiance - delicious food. I ordered the planentarium and my friend ordered the dizzy flamingo. Lexi served us and treated us like family! Great date spot.

Joe H.

Yelp
Wow, I've never had such horrible service. The manager argued with me. What, wait, yes. Todd said "it was his house". The food was ok, the fries cold after a second visit, again. The server was wonderful and gracious. Regardless, Never in my life have I had someone, the manager, be so inhospitable. With leadership like this, they'll go out of business. Don't go. I hate I spent almost $200 with that level of immaturity. Get a grip, Todd. Heard you were like this at Rye street too... get a grip, girl. Worst leadership. Todd is an embarrassment to our community.

Bryan D.

Yelp
Expensive, bland food. Staff who think they're better than you. A sparse open space. What more could you want to avoid in a restaurant experience?
