Pink Onion - Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"One of the best dinner deals in the city exists at Pink Onion, a casual shoebox-sized Italian spot in the Mission. And since the words “affordable” and “Italian dinner” are as non-existent a pair as SF and flat sidewalks, you should add this place into your weeknight rotation, stat. The Combo Meal (your choice of an appetizer or salad, whole pizza, pasta, and dessert) runs you only $60, and if you come on a Wednesday, you get a bottle of wine thrown in, too. While a deal this good could raise skepticism about the actual quality of the food, don’t worry. The creative pies are excellent—especially the Hotboy with soppressata and hot honey—and hearty pastas round out the carbohydrate extravaganza. Always order the marinara-drenched meatballs to start. photo credit: Brit Finnegan" - Julia Chen

Good pizza (not thin crust, but not too thick either) and pasta, but really I'm here for the free and amazing focaccia bread

I decided to try this place out. I didn't want pizza, so I ordered a pasta dish and upgraded to the gnocchi in the truffle cream sauce. I've had a lot of gnocchi, but this is at the top of my list of the best in town. It just melts in your mouth, incredibly. It was absolutely amazing, almost too much truffle. I'm definitely going back to try a pizza next time. Then there was the tiramisu, which is a 2-person dessert. The service only got 3 stars because wait time for them to take my order was a bit long, then I had to flag someone down for more water. No one ever came by to ask how things were or if I wanted anything else. They don't have tap and pay, so bring your cash or card. I do recommend visiting this place.

This is my third time at Pink Onion, and I can confidently say that they don’t disappoint. The food is great, and the prices are reasonable considering the generous portions. My only suggestion is that they should switch the dishes around when serving different plates, as everything is meant to be shared.

Went on free-wine-Wednesdays! This place was bustling! We’ve dined in a few times before and the food is always amazing! Place is small so it gets loud when packed. Every Wednesdays they have a combo meal offer of 1 appetiser, 1 pasta, 1 pizza, 1 dessert. We got burrata caprese salad, mussel pasta, Nayalita pizza, Tyson punch out pizza, basque cheesecake. I personally love the burrata caprese (their pesto, balsamic and olive oil makes a saucey combo), Nayalita pizza (white base with caramelised onions, how to say no?) and basque cheesecake (dense and fluffy at the same time)!! Even though we dined out for this review, the service was amazing every other time we dined in. Parking is a nightmare so uber/lyft.

Maybe the pizza is what makes the reviews. The inside is cute but we ended up outside, despite the heater right next to us it was very cold. We were also SURROUNDED by people waiting for their doordash orders and to be seated, it totally ruined and little ambiance the outdoor seating had. Service was EXTREMELY slow, we had to ask for the appetizer bread (which was actually good), and they didn't check on us once... not even to refill water. We had to call them over to take our order. Meatballs and caesar were alright, nothing to come back for. Sauce for the meatballs was bland, not sure it had seasoning. Pasta was terrible. I got the bolognese and it was like soup and again was bland. The truffle pasta was better but way too much truffle, it was overpowering.

Google
Rly good deal on Wednesday night. Need to wait for around 1hr if you come after 5. But the price is rly unbeatable for food with such quality.

The space was rather small, not an issue at all, wasn't too busy, and they seated a walk-in of 4 very quickly (under 10 minutes, no reservation). Combo meal 60$, seems like a good deal but depending on what you get you're not saving much but getting a ton of food, was split between 2 and still took some food home. Parma e burrata plate was fine but had a lot going on, didn't pair well with the pizza and was pretty sweet, but a ton of fruit, so maybe healthy? Rigatoni vodka, good flavour, could have had more spice. Pasta Tartufo was delicious, such a good pasta. Side meatball was a ball of meatloaf. Do with that as you please The Guido pizza was good with a hearty portion of arugula on top, necessary nutrients achieved! The tiramisa tasted like any other tiramisu and i could easily eat a pound of it. Friendly staff but sometimes I asked direct questions, and they would explain the whole menu, I hate being treated like I can't read. Paid $40 each after tax for 1 combo plate, an extra pasta and appetizer, and 1 bottle of wine. Cute space, but the food felt basic and SF priced.

Google
The pink fire alarm pizza was so good and their combo meal is a great price for the amount of food you get! The staff is nice, the food came out fast, and the restaurant had some pretty fun music playing. It does get super busy so would recommend a reservation.

Google
We had the $60 Wednesday deal which is a good price for what you get. The pizza and cheesecake were pretty good, those alone would be 4 stars. But the pasta and salad were really awful. There’s SO much fat in the pastas and salad that it’s just unappetizing. The pesto had no less than 2 cups of oil sitting in the bottom of the container. Even the salad, without adding any dressing, was way too oily. I’d come back for the pizza, but nothing else.

Yelp
Came back here because I was craving some delicious pizza. The hot honey pizza was good, but I think the magic mushroom is much better. the hot honey pizza bread was pretty soggy on the bottom, and not crispy as I hoped. Besides that, flavor was still delicious and the burrata salad is still my favorite salad EVER!!

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner experience that I'm still thinking about. First, the service is amazing! We were immediately greeted by the host at the door who checked us into our reservation, but since no seats were available yet he gave us a complimentary glass of wine. The inside is cute, but pretty small so make sure to make a reservation during busier hours! Once seated, we had the complimentary bread and it was sooo delicious! We ended up ordering the $60 combo meal with an add-on of another small pizza. For appetizer we got the steamed mussel (such a yummy broth we literally took the rest to go even though no mussels were left). For the pasta we got the bolognese which was solid. Would prob try a different pasta next time. For the pizza, we got the magic mushroom (im craving it now as I write this review it was soooo good). And our second pizza was the tyson punch out which was also good! I need to come back ASAP for the combo on a wednesday to get a free bottle of wine.

Yelp
date visited: 01.11.2025 ordered: pasta and hotboy (unpictured: tiramisu) i've done takeout many times but first time sitting in the restaurant at the bar. service was attentive and kind and the ambiance was rly cute and cozy! first time trying their pasta and it was yumm, but the hotboy/their pizza has my heart :) flavors are so good, and the crust is always so thin but fluffy! tiramisu also slapped also their wednesday deal sounds insane.

Yelp
Quaint bar with some tables, serving fresh pasta and unique pizzas. Come in, sit down and order while sipping a beverage. Food comes out quickly. Pizza is tasty. The hot honey is surprisingly yum with the just-crispy-enough pepperoni. A hip spot in a fun area.

Yelp
I have a new go to pizza place and it's this one I really should walk over there sometimes but I am so lazy and I ordered it to my house and every time I order the Bruce Bochy pizza which is pepperoni, mushroom green onion, garlic cheese, and sauce. It tastes so good the crust the flavor of the ingredients it warms the belly and I always order the large for groups. I have to say I love the packaging. It's great and the delivery of this pizza to my house is always timely. Whoever I go through. I need to really walk over there and take a look at this place because the food looks so great. The service is so good And I keep ordering from it so I think I have a field trip which is not very far from me, but I have to get off the couch and go visit and try more because I've ordered this four times already in three weeks so I think I'm addicted so I may need help.

Yelp
This was a very small store with a lively atmosphere, which I feel like it is a good place to catch up with friends. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to our expectations :/ The portions were huge but: Burrata Salad: My friends all agreed that the balsamic glaze was overpowering and maybe its personal preference, but the addition of raisins was unnecessary. Rigatoni Vodka: Most solid thing out of what we ordered, but I feel like this is a simple dish. Jimmy G's Pizza: So mushy. The crust was falling apart and the ratio of toppings to bread was off. It was a great price for the amount of food offered! They did include either tiramisu or cheesecake with the $60 combo deal, which was yummy but I don't think I'd come back here given that there are so many other good eats for pasta/pizza in SF.

Yelp
Really great food and vibe. Shortly after walking in, you'll feel like you are hanging out in the family room of your old high school friend who was an effortlessly natural host. The staff is fun, laid back, and dishing out positive vibes. Prices are very reasonable. The namesake pink onion salad is really stellar, and fresh berries make it shine. Generously sized pasta dishes and pizza too. The pizza list is expansive or you can customize - and get a great thin crust pie. Also appreciate a local but not too mainstream tap rotation It's not too loud, and would be a great under the radar pick for a hang, catch up with a good friend, or date night.

Yelp
My second time at Pink Onion and it was just as good as the first! I would highly recommend making a reservation if you can because the restaurant is pretty small and it gets packed especially on Wednesdays. You really can't beat their Wednesday combo deal - $60 for one app, one pasta, one pizza and one dessert ... PLUS a bottle of wine. We ordered two combos for four people and it was more than enough food. For starters we got the mussels (my favorite) and the prosciutto burrata, for pastas we got the tartufo (YES) and the vodka rigatoni (which was also delicious but a little too creamy for me), for pizzas we got the magic mushroom (YES YES YES) and the soppressata (good but loved the mushroom one). Then for dessert we got one of each, one cheesecake and one tiramisu. Food was delicious, service was fantastic, I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Went to this spot for the first time with friends last night and it was really excellent! Their Wednesday combo was an amazing deal and great value! Their food was all super tasty and flavorful. We waited about 40 minutes for our table and it seemed like people after were waiting much longer, so be prepared. But the staff were all very friendly and offered us wine while we waited outside. Cute little restaurant and will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Great cozy spot. We came on Wednesday for their $60 combo deal that includes an appetizer, pizza, pasta, wine, and desert. It's an amazing deal! The food was absolutely delicious with pretty large portions. We got there at 5:30 and while we didn't have a reservation they were able to seat us at the bar after ~15 minutes which was great since it was packed with many people waiting. Will definetly be back here soon.

Yelp
So happy to finally check Pink Onion off my list! I came here last week with a reservation for 5. Our group shared two combos ($60 for app/salad, pizza, pasta, + dessert) plus some drinks: - Meatballs: a highlight!! flavorful and tender, each order comes with two huge meatballs--big enough to share between 4 people depending on how hungry you are - Pink onion salad: light and refreshing, generous portion of greens with fresh citrus - Il pesto di pistachio pasta: herbaceous and nutty, a little on the oily side - Rigatoni vodka pasta: saucy, whole wheat (my husband says this reminds him of Carbone!) - Guido: loaded with prosciutto (my veggie friend made an exception for this one!) - Hotboy: love hot honey and sopressata on pizza but I fear this one was a little soggy--tasty but challenging to eat - Tiramisu: creamy, heavy on the rum - Basque cheesecake: soufflé like, lightly sweet It was way more than we could finish and everything was excellent. Our server was friendly and accommodating of allergies. Small spot, cute wall art, consistently busy for walk ins and take out, and bumping music. TV at the bar for those sports inclined. Would absolutely come again and next time will be sure to come on a Wednesday for the free bottle of wine!

Yelp
Great pizza, great service, cozy restaurant spot! I've been meaning to come to pink onion for over a year and I'm so glad it finally happened! Their combo meal is a steal, so much good food for a decent price. I love that you get to try a variety of their menu. My friends and I ordered a combo with the vegetarian burrata, truffle pasta, magic mushroom pizza, and cheesecake, as well as a large potato pizza. The portions were generous, we had leftovers to take with us. The burrata appetizer is a MUST GET, I haven't stopped thinking about it. The candied pears and toasted pecans are a genius addition to the fresh fruit, arugula, and of course, the burrata. The truffle pasta is so rich and creamy!! A classic on their menu. I couldn't help but dip my pizza crust in the sauce LOL Both pizzas were fantastic - the magic mushroom had everything I wanted, from mushrooms to red sauce to prosciutto. The potato pizza was better than I expected - a good amount of spice, a variety of cheese, and perfectly cooked potato slices. I prefer the magic mushroom over the potato For dessert, we had such a hard time choosing between cheesecake and tiramisu and ended up being able to try both!! I have a huge sweet tooth and thoroughly enjoyed both - either is a great option to end your meal! The service is amazing here! Though they are busy with tables and an endless flow of door dashers, they are attentive, quick, and provide an amazing customer experience. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table after a small wait, thankfully. I will 100% come back and rave about this restaurant to anyone who will listen. It's on my list of great places to bring someone who's visiting the city :)

Yelp
Ohhhh my my! Boy was I in for a surprise. Took this bad boy to go, but it was quick - so service is spot on. This soppresatta pizza is wild! I don't know how to describe it, it's like thin pepperoni but bigger and packs a punch. What I did enjoy was the dough. It's the perfect ratio, not too doughy, great texture, like the dough bubbled. It's weird, but good. The marinara was pleasant and didn't have that canned metal taste. Definitely a diamond in the rough. Would I come again? Sure, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Yelp
Came here Saturday night to share a pizza and salad for 2 people. Was excited from seeing this place on yelp collections and sf recommendations. Got a pink onion salad (3/5) and hotboy pizza (4/5) to share. Together they worked together but individually, the salad was too acidic and the pizza lacked some depth. Pizza was cooked well, crunch and saucy and good portions, maybe will try different combinations to see how the flavors come together. Pink Onion Salad as their signature salad was mid - I have a fruit allergy and difficult getting an answer from the staff of which fruits were in the salad (nothing was altered so my opinion on the salad still stand) Greeted a little unfriendly at the door which took me back with a someone just staring at me not saying anything. Once we got seated the people behind the bar were super friendly and the vibes were cool and cozy. Staff seemed a little all over the place with orders - gave us the wrong salad and needed to refire pizza bc it was the wrong size. Pink onion is a cozy place with a youthful and fun vibe

Yelp
We got delivery to our hotel since we arrived on a late flight. I can only imagine how good this pizza would have been if it was in the restaurant, and not DoorDash. Still a really good pizza and would love to go back and try in person. Can't remember the name of the pizza we got, but it was essentially a pepperoni and there were cooked onions and garlic chunks all throughout the pizza. That may sound gross, but it was delicious lol

Yelp
Date: Monday, December 2nd, 2024 Party of: 2 Meal: Dinner Delivery Ordered via: DoorDash Time Ordered: around 8:45pm Time Arrived: around 9:30pm Delivered to: Outer Richmond COMBO DINNER ($60) - select one pizza, one appetizer or salad, one pasta, and a dessert (Free bottle of wine every Wednesday) *The Hampod: pepperoni, sausage and jalapeños ($23 individually) *Parma E Burrata Plate: prosciutto di parma, burrata, arugula, candied pear, cherry tomato, and aged balsamic - no fruit ($18 individually) *La Bolognese: slow cooked ($19 individually) *Basque Cheese Cake: mini 5 inch Basque cheesecakes ($12 individually) I wasn't sure what I wanted for dinner. The hubby and I have been having a lot of home cooking type meals lately, so I wanted to change it up. After looking around, I decided to try Pink Onion. Their combo dinner sounded like a good deal. We essentially got a free dessert. Tho if it were Wed, we'd have a free bottle of wine! I had some red at home, so an easy hurdle to overcome. First off, their pizza is excellent. I normally don't eat the crust, but it was so chewy and fluffy, I polished off the whole thing. Plus, I had balsamic and oil from our app. Great for dipping with some salt and chili flakes. Our appetizer was delicious as well. Lots of prosciutto and a big piece of burrata. I did find myself wishing there were more greens, but I had a head of lettuce at home, so just added some. The dessert is a generous size. Kinda cakey in texture since it's supposed to be lighter, but I'm not a huge fan of dense cheesecakes, so that worked for me. (Tho I think the hubs likes the heavier creamier versions.) The pasta was the only disappointing thing. The noodles were a little mushy (maybe due to transit) and there wasn't enough tomato sauce. I don't know if they use aged parm, but it had a touch of funkiness to it. I think more tomato would have cut into that. We just added tobasco as the vinegar helped. Great spot for pizza! I've had Pink Onion bookmarked for quite a while. Glad I finally checked them out. REVIEW #3635

Yelp
Pink Onion is a small and cozy restaurant that gives a warm, neighborhood vibe with music blasting and customers coming and going for pickup. I made a reservation ahead of time on Yelp on a Tuesday afternoon around opening time. When we walked in, we were seated right away and there were only a few customers during this hour. The staff were very lively and friendly. We decided to split a couple dishes due to portion sizes. First, the pink onion salad was very refreshing - I loved the softness of the cheese, the sweetness of the strawberries and blueberries, and the crunch of the nuts. We also ordered the small Magic Mushroom pizza. Wow, this was definitely a great choice! The tomato sauce was rich with flavor, the crust held well with the toppings and had a nice texture, the prosciutto provided a nice, thin and salty flavor combination and the cheese was melty and gooey. I recommend trying this with the chili oil that they place at the table! I would love to come here again and try more items on the menu.

Yelp
Bomb.com You really can't beat the $60 combo meal on wednesdays! The staff made this a very pleasant experience for us. We arrived at 7pm with no reservation, it was packed but Gabriel went above and beyond to get us seated within 30 minutes at the bar! (Pro tip: make a reservation unless you've got great social skills like me!) He was amazing, and recommended a wine to pair with our food. Food highlights: Pink onion salad: a classic fruit salsa with goat cheese! The blood orange vinaigrette added the perfect acidic! The spicy vodka pasta: 9/10- super creamy and flavorful! Al dente noodles and it's a classic dish. The Gotham- 8/10- sausage could have been cut/ cooked differently as it's more of a sausage link than patty. But good overall! Overall, the food and service were fantastic, and the staff truly made the night special. Highly recommend checking this spot out, just don't forget to book a reservation!

Yelp
Came here for the Wednesday night deal and made a reservation last minute before arriving. It's not too big inside and glad we had the res. We got seated right away but others were waiting outside. Inside is cute and there's also an outdoor seating area. We started with the burrata and it was delish. It was a nice balance with some fruit, the prosciutto, and greens. Then pizza and pistachio pesto pasta for mains. We got tiramisu for dessert. The pizza was good and loved the crust. The pasta was heavy but good. Tiramisu was so light and yummy. We got a bottle of white wine for meal. I appreciate that they have chili oil and chili flake condiments at the tables. All portions are large and definitely left full and had a bit of leftovers to enjoy the next day.

Yelp
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. The food, the service, the ambiance. All 5 stars. I've seen this restaurant all over Tiktok a while ago, and decided to try it as it seems like the hype was over but I was wrong. I guess a place this delicious is always busy whether it's for take out or dine in. We walked in right before 6 and got seated right away. We just missed the Wednesday Wine deal but we still opted for the 4 course menu. It was super affordable and the quality for the food was amazing. Here's what we got: Barrata Salad Plate (5/5): it was refreshing and the cheese was super creamy! Truffle Pasta (5/5): A MUST GET! the sauce, the flavor, presentation! everything was there Carmelized Onion Pizza (4/5): very good but a bit on the saltier side, goes great with the balsamic vinegrette they have on each table Basque Cheese Cake (5/5): super creamy and dense

Yelp
Super yummy pizza with a deliciously chewy crust that's not greasy at all. I wish there were more mushrooms added to the Nayalita pizza, but overall, the taste was fantastic, and I would order again.

Arjun R.

Yelp
Friendly service. Had the Nitro Beer, the Nayalita and Guido pizzas. The fresh bread and the pizzas were hit among all 3 of us, as was the beer. The reason it is not a 5/5 is that even though we had provided our number- and they were going to seat us- no one called us for over 30 minutes - but when we came back they seated us right away.

Angela G.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to get a last minute spot for the Wednesday deal! Appetizer, wine, pasta, and pizza. A good bang for your buck. The items we got didn't stand out by themselves but the place has a great vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Small, but jam packed place in the North Mission District that I originally discovered on social media. Their $60 meal includes one app/salad, one pizza, one pasta and one dessert (with a bottle of wine thrown in on Wednesdays). An outstanding deal, perfect for a hungry date night or a trio's outing if nobody in your party is a huge eater. The pizza with caramelized onions was outstanding as was the pesto pasta. The burrata plate had an acidic balsamic sauce drizzled over it that I didn't love but nonetheless I would come back without hesitation!

Yelp
Came for the combo meal deal and I absolutely loved the food here! The combo meal deal is also a very good price at $55 :) My friend and I split the steamed mussels, magic mushroom pizza (minus the prosciutto), the pasta tartufo, and the basque cheesecake! We did not finish the food and the portions were big and filling, so we had many leftovers to take home! We also got the house white wine available tht day (free bottle of wine if you go on Wednesday!!) The service was good, and the waitstaff were attentive to our table despite the long wait and how full the restaurant was. The ambiance was also very nice and I enjoyed the way the restaurant was decorated! There is indoor seating, bar seating, and outdoor seating. Food summary: Magic mushroom pizza: 10/10 Loved the mushrooms and truffle oil! Definitely a pizza that is very rich in flavor. Pasta tartufo: 10/10 A lot of truffle flavor, and the plating was very beautiful as well. Also very rich in flavor, and the pasta was cooked perfectly! Steamed mussels: 10/10 The mussels were delicious, and the sauce used was a quite vinegary- we had a lot leftover that we used to dip with the complimentary bread. Would definitely get this again. Basque cheesecake: 9/10 Definitely a good dessert and was very cheesy as well as not too sweet! I enjoyed it and this was quite rich as well but light for a cheesecake!

Yelp
Truly the farthest $60 can get you. Especially if you come eat in / order delivery or to go. I mean it! So what do you get for $60 that truly feeds 3 people or two meals for 2 people? The ultimate combo dinner where you get one app, one pizza, one pasta, one dessert, and on wednesdays, a bottle of wine. They do NOT take reservations on Wednesdays so if you want to eat in, go early, put your name down, go make a trip to Total Wine, Rainbow Grocery, or Standard Deviant. Wait is going to be 1hr+ for dinner so just be ready. The servers and team have so much to manage between eat-in and to-go orders and it's always packed so kudos to the team! Appetizer - if you like seafood, go for the steamed mussels Pizza - I think any pizza is terrific so won't make specific recs here Pasta - my fav is the Il Pesto Di Pistacchio Dessert - both the cheesecake and the tiramisu are excellent choices Wine - rose all day! I think Pink Onion curates a great selection of wine so you'll be good with red, white, or rose Beer - they have Fieldwork (and others) on tap so lots of choices

Yelp
I came here for a birthday dinner with friends. Although we didn't have a reservation big enough, they were able to squeeze in two extra people. There was also an extra table that didn't end up being used, so I'm not sure if it wasn't a full night or if someone missed their reservation. The interior was pretty dark, with some football playing on the TV. There was some bar seating, and a few tables both inside and outdoors. There was only one bathroom, so there was usually 1-2 people waiting, despite the restaurant being small. We ordered the combo dinner, and chose steamed mussels, pasta tartufo, margherita pizza, and tiramisu. We also added a burrata caprese. It took a bit of time for the food to start coming out, but once it did, the pacing was decent. * Caprese salad (4/5): pretty standard and decent. * Steamed mussels (4.5/5): nice and clean in flavor, also fairly standard but enjoyable. * Pasta tartufo (5/5): really good, with a creamy truffle taste that wasn't overwhelming, and the pasta was cooked well. * Margherita pizza (4/5): fresh toppings and a thin crust, making it a solid choice. * Tiramisu (4/5): fine, but I wished it had more ladyfingers. Not the best I've had, but not the worst either. Service was okay, though at times it was hard to get ahold of someone as they seemed busy. Overall, this is a nice casual spot for pasta or pizza and a good place for a laid-back dinner with friends.

Yelp
Arrived around 6p as a walk in. Seated outside pretty quickly as inside dining was full. Ordered truffle pasta, burrata, and mussels. The pasta was delicious, creamy and truffley. The mussels though were pretty fishy that night. Burrata was delicious, but wished they added more prosciutto to it. Parking is really tough. Suggest Uber or Lyft.

Yelp
I went here with 2 other friends and shared the combo! It was the perfect amount for the 3 of us. My favorite was the burrata salad. Very light and refreshing. The truffle pasta was a classic. Pizza was tasted fresh. I'd come here again for the combo deal! It's a small place so I'd recommend a reservation or to arrive early for walkins.

Yelp
I went on a Sunday afternoon and got the Guido pizza (prosciutto & arugula) and it was amazing! You also have to get the vegetarian style burrata salad - yes it has brought up, but also fresh fruits, and a sweet vinaigrette dressing, which was just a tad too sweet but absolutely delicious. Very friendly service & a well decorated place, I can't wait to try more of their pizzas next time.

Yelp
This place is PoPpInG!!! I've been told, there's usually a line waiting to get in on Wednesday nights for the combination dinner! But we made reservations months ago, so we wouldn't have to wait! Got here at 6 for our 6:15 pm reservations for 4 and even found parking right in front as 2 cars left! Can't be more perfect than that! The place is a little bit dark, so it was hard to see the menu. I had to use my phone's flashlight! I guess it's part of the ambiance. Here's what we chose for our combination: ROSE' WINE ~ SABLE D'AZUR. This was a pretty smooth wine. Not too sweet nor too tart. I'm not a connoisseur, but this rose' was pleasant. 5/5 PARMA E BURRATA PLATE ~ prosciutto di Parma, burrata, candied pears, arugula, fresh fruit, aged balsamic ~ this was a sweet starter which I didn't expect. I thought it would have been somewhat tart, but it wasn't at all! Even with the prosciutto, it was still sweet. Though we enjoyed the freshness of the berries and the creaminess of the burrata. The aged balsamic really shined in this salad. Though I think it should be a little more tart to give more depth to the flavors. 4/5 MUSSEL PASTA ~ white wine, garlic, parsley, chili flakes and fresh mussels. I liked the garlicky, spicy wine sauce! With 4 of us splitting this dish, you only get a bite and that's it! Wish there was more pasta! The noodles didn't taste like ordinary pasta. Though I can't be sure what the noodles were made from, but they were delicious! Loved the fresh mussels which made it even better! 5/5 TYSON PUNCHOUT ~ Sausage, mushrooms, ricotta and green onions. Loved this pizza! The crust was perfectly crispy and crunchy. This came to us really hot! We were still eating pasta when the pizza arrived. We had it sit for over 5 minutes and it stayed HOT! Impressive! Flavors were wonderful together! Nothing overly salty. 5/5 TIRAMISU ~ it could have been plated rather than in a plastic container, though I understand the convenience of it. If you're full and want to take it home, all you do is put a lid on it. All of us grabbed a spoon and dug in. Good, strong espresso powder, though it didn't taste like rum or alcohol on the bottom. The cake was moist and yummy! Certainly hit the spot to finish our evening! 5/5 Had a great time enjoying the wine, food, & dessert! Service was good, despite their busyness. Hoping to come back again for another combination dinner! Roughly $70 (tip included) for 4 people! What a deal!!!!

Yelp
Came at the perfect time around 5pm, and they took us in without a reservation. Guess we got lucky because this place is pretty popular. We were searching for truffle oil pasta and this place served the most delicious truffle oil pasta! Cravings were definitely satisfied! Also I really enjoyed their tiramisu dessert! Place was small but definitely worth the wait!

Yelp
Had a chance to do date night with the hubby and this was a really good spot for Italian food. Although service was really slow that day (we definitely need more servers here), I would say the food was great. We ordered the combo for $60 and this comes with an appetizer, pizza, pasta & dessert. We ended up ordering: * Parm e burrata plate - this came with so much which was great - there was prosciutto, burrata, candied poached pear, so many berries, raisins and arugula. I loved every bite and it was so refreshing! * For the Pizza we got the Gotham, which was really good. This had sausage, ricotta, pepperoni and hot honey. This was really yummy and the pizza was well made * Pasta Tartufo - if you are into truffle, this is the one for you! I loved it and it was so creamy and delicious. It went really well with the pizza * Tiramisu - this was really yummy and creamy. The hubs and I loved this a lot as well! Overall, really good experience, just need to work on the service big time.

Yelp
This is my second time at Pink Onion and second time in a row that it's been amazing! I love the food, the vibe, and the staff here! Everyone is so kind and it genuinely feels like they love working here! The truffle pasta is to die for! It's a must try. The guido had a good amount of meat and was tasty Caesar salad was great! Dressing was tasty and the parmesan cheese was yummy. 10/10

Yelp
Came to Pink Onion on a Wednesday date night to take advantage of their free bottle of wine (only on Wednesday) and really liked the food! For $65, we got an appetizer, an pasta, and an pizza, and even a dessert. It was so much food that we had to take home leftovers. Really like the Truffle Prosciutto, Mussels Seafood Pasta, Basque Cheesecake, and a burrata salad. Each dish was so well made and I would come here even without the free bottle of wine. Definitely recommend a reservation if you can as it gets pretty busy after 5:30 and it's a small restaurant. Street parking was pretty easy to find.

Yelp
Really good pizza spot in sf! Came for dinner after a work event and was seated right away around 845pm. They have a little outdoor seating which we made use of as our party of 7 :). What I really like about Pink Onion is their crust. I feel like what makes a good pizza is the crust and they've got theirs down! Apparently, their combo Wednesdays went viral on TikTok -- you can get a pizza w/ a free bottle of wine (forgot the price but it was a really good deal). So one of the employees told us that for Wednesdays, they're already booked out through November fyi! Would make resys now if you want to snag that deal. They have a lot of pizza options, 18-19 on th menu Not a ton of parking, most people were getting dropped off. Friendly staff, good vibes, would come back.

Yelp
Pink Onion in San Francisco is a hidden gem! Their veggie and cheese pizzas are absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and incredible flavor. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. If you're looking for amazing pizza and great service, this spot is a must-visit! No on site parking , Uber is recommended.

Yelp
I went to Pink Onion with my best friend and his coworker late at night after hearing a lot of hype about it from my classmates. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the buzz. When we got there, there was a long line, and they told us they weren't accepting more walk-ins and were only seating reservations. This was frustrating because their hours didn't specify when they stopped taking walk-ins. We ended up making a reservation on the spot, but we had to wait over an hour--maybe even an hour and a half--outside in the freezing cold. If you go, be prepared for that and definitely book ahead. Once we were finally seated, the vibe inside was nice and homey, which helped improve my mood a bit. The downside, though, was the constant flow of Uber Eats and delivery pickups. It felt like the restaurant prioritized takeout orders over seating and serving customers dining in, which made the whole experience drag on even longer. As for the food, we ordered the Gotham pizza, the Margherita pizza, and the Magic Mushroom pizza. The presentation was great, and we were excited when the pizzas arrived after about a 20-minute wait. But honestly? The taste was just... okay. It didn't live up to the hype or justify the long wait. The flavors were subpar, and I've had better pizza at other spots--or even from Domino's. Overall, Pink Onion didn't impress me enough to make me want to return, especially with how long it takes to get seated. It's not bad, but it's definitely not worth waiting over an hour in the cold for. There are plenty of other pizza places that are quicker, more accessible, and just as good (if not better).

Yelp
I recently tried the pesto pasta and the rigatoni red sauce pasta - both of them are absolutely delicious and creamy. They have any different flavor profiles and the quantity is very good. The pastas also pair really well with the starter bread they provide. I also recommend trying their pizzas - they have a huge selection that also allows substitutions.

Yelp
Came in for the Wednesday special - $60 combo (app, pasta, pizza, and dessert) + free bottle of wine! Partner managed to score a 7:30pm reservation earlier in the morning and, despite arriving 20 minutes late, still had an open table for us! Very grateful to not have to had wait. Service was quick and to the point. We ordered the parma e burrata plate, bolognese pasta, and magic mushroom pizza to share along with a bottle of rosé and basque cheesecake for dessert. Food wise, the combo meal is definitely a bang for your buck, even between two people. However, I don't think I would go out of my way to return if the $60 Wednesday combo didn't exist. Food was okay - nothing special but also not terrible either. The place itself is small with indoor seating along a back wall squeezed against bar seating. Just a heads up, it gets very loud inside. Not sure if it was that crowd today, but I figure a packed restaurant with a deal including a free bottle of wine would result in that. Overall, great deal with okay food. A spot to come for a cheap shareable dinner with company.

Yelp
I hate writing negative reviews but I really think it's worth mentioning as I believe feedback is important and I hope that management can take a change. TLDR: Food is awesome, the Wednesday Night combo deal is fantastic, vibes are good, service is mid, management needs to make changes to their reservation system. My party had snagged a coveted 8:30pm reservation on Wednesday to take advantage of their $60 combo meal (pizza, pasta, appetizer/salad, dessert + bottle of wine). I arrived first in my party at 8:22p and noticed groups of folks waiting outside the restaurant with no semblance of order and no clear front of house staff. I spent about 10 min trying to get the attention of who I thought was the front of staff (gentleman in a hat) when I was finally able to check in with a waitress (long hair ponytail) who seemed visibly irritated that I was trying to talk her. Eventually, it's past our reservation time at around 8:33p the gentleman in the hat comes around, lets us know that we're checked in, but doesn't let us know WHEN we'll be seated. We have to flag him down again to ask, and he mentions that the restaurant is slammed (they had let a table of 6 turn into a table of 9 for example), and it shouldn't be much longer. He offered to bring us some wine while we waited, which we obliged to, but by the time we had our SECOND round of wine outside in the cold, we realized it was 9:18p, and we had waited nearly 50 minutes to be seated for our 8:30p reservation! I think this is extremely unacceptable, unprofessional, and just rude to us as diners. Normally, restaurants have a 15min grace period policy they impose on diners to arrive after their reservation, I'm not sure why the same standard wasn't being held for the restaurant to have a table ready up to 15 minutes after the reservation time. I really hope management can read this and put some action items into plan (maybe don't take as many walk ins or walk ins at all on the popular Wednesday night, fix the reservation system / timing, implement an actual front of house staff for clear check ins, encourage diners to leave after 90min or 2 hours). We weren't the only folks who had a reservation that was being delayed waiting outside. ------ FOOD ------ Pink Onion Salad (4/5): yummy, light and refreshing. Great way to balance out the carby dinner Vegetarian Burrata Plate (5/5): loved the candied walnuts in this dish Truffle Pasta (5/5): got this because the yelp reviews and have no regrets. The pasta was al dente, the truffle sauce was creamy and luscious, and the shaved truffles on top were chef's kiss Vodka Sauce Pasta (5/5): Also a really great pasta, the rigatoni was pillowy and I loved the vodka sauce. Magic Mushroom Pizza (5/5) Patataccia Pizza (4/5) Basque Cheesecake (5/5): Really nice cheesecake, not too sweet and not dense like American cheesecakes Tiramisu (5/5): Also a really great cheesecake ------SERVICE------ I can't knock the staff due to the long reservation time because I know it's not their fault, but I wish they would do a better job at communicating with guests who were waiting outside. There was another couple who had an 8:30p reservation who ended up getting seated after us, and I just feel like it's not a good start to a dinner or good first impression to leave diners (especially those who made a reservation) out in the cold with no updates on seating. I appreciate the gentleman in the hat for offering us glasses of wine while we wait, but that can only go so far when we're hungry and cold. I also would like to note that the waitress with long hair and a ponytail was pretty rude and short to those of us waiting outside and even rolled her eyes at delivery drivers just trying to do their job. Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with my first experience at Pink Onion. I had heard so many good things on Tiktok but unfortunately the food (which was so good!!) and even better deal were soured by the nearly hour long wait time (FOR A RESERVATION) and lack of communication/disorder.

Yelp
A staple of the neighborhood.. honestly the only restaurant I don't mind walking to everyday. The Good: - pink onion got me loving italian food.... this is huge praise... i didn't really like pastas or burrata or anything italian before but so many of my friends have dragged me here that now i drag my friends! I'll look forward to planning a foodie trip to italy now... - value-- i don't have to repeat their amazing combo deal or their crazy Wednesday Wine deal - recs: VEGETAARIAN BURRATTA, vodka rigatoni, mussels @___@ The Meh: - sometimes the staff feels a little clique-y, like say i come in and have a reservation. I wave to the 3-4 people behind the bar and they take a while to acknowledge the front door and when they do, they're like "oh.. yeah you can sit there" - seating is a little tight (i'm a 5'2 azn girl), esp to adjacent tables but i guess that's ok.. just gotta be a little cozy

Yelp
The restaurant is very small and slightly claustrophobic. The tables are too close to each other for comfort. Last time I came we were asked to move tables about 10 minutes after we were seated. The door was kept open the entire evening, so it was very cold in the restaurant. I was shivering for the entirety of our meal. The rigatoni was very thick and tasty (4.5/5), the Kanoute pizza was good, but nothing special (4/5). I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian style burrata plate, it was a great mix of sweet and savoury (4.5/5). The entrance of the restaurant was swarmed by people waiting to pick up takeout orders. We ended up getting our meal to go because we were too cold. It was unfortunate we had to cut our dining experience short. The food was very good, but I'm not sure I will return due to the cramped, cold restaurant. Additionally, the service was not amazing and there was some pressure to finish your meal very quickly.

Yelp
This place is VERY small. Make a reservation for Wednesday if you want to eat here. But you can also get the combo deal to go. Upon walking in the smell of chemicals was extremely overpowering and took a few minutes to get used to. Not very appetizing. The servers were very nice and attentive. The Wednesday combo deal was totally worth it! We started with the Caesar salad. The flavor was a nice combo of garlic and anchovy, which personally I like, but was a little ruined by the burnt tasting croutons. Next was the rigatoni vodka pasta. The flavor was decent, but it was very saucy. When I bit into the shell noodle the sauce kept squishing out. It was a lot. Also got the Mexicano pizza. I ordered it without the sausage, but then oddly enough it came with ham, which was not in the description. The crust was nice and crispy. The pizza didn't fold over with grease, which I appreciated. The dessert options were tiramisu or cheesecake. I got the tiramisu. Not a ton of flavor and not super heavy. You get a free bottle of wine with the Wednesday combo. They preselect the wine choices for the night. You can choose a red, white, or rose for your bottle of wine. I ordered the rose. Wasn't the best rose I've had. It was very watered down, but it was free so I'll take it! Overall this place was pretty good for the Wednesday deal. Without the deal I'm not sure it's worth it, but I'll give it 4 stars for the great deal.

Yelp
Such a fun dinner night spot for unpretentious pizza/ pasta. Had a reservation and had to wait slightly but they checked in with us! Definitely order: Our absolute favorites were the burrata and the truffle pasta (Pasta al Tartufo) The burrata appetizer had fruity hints and the peach + berry combo paired with prosciutto was the perfect sweet/savory balance. Presentation was extremely appetizing, and we would definitely order this again. Our second favorite was the truffle pasta, the truffle was definitely truffling and the pasta was insanely creamy. Tiramisu was great and we could taste the coffee. 8/10 Skip: We also got the Gotham pizza (7/10) which had hot honey, sausage and pepperoni. This wasn't too notable. We asked for more hot honey on the side because there was not enough. dessert.

Yelp
Went on Weds for their Combo deal which includes 1 appetizer or salad, 1 pasta, 1 small pizza, 1 dessert, and a free bottle of wine. The wine is pre-selected, but you can choose red, white or rosé. It was the perfect amount for 2 people, but you could do 3 people if you have smaller appetites. Definitely need a reservation as it got busy quickly. Order: Red wine (10/10): pre-selected for us but delicious. Loved that it wasn't very dry nor bitter. Burrata Caprese (10/10): a huge fan of anything burrata and caprese so this was perfect Mussel Pasta (8/10): I'm not the biggest fan of mussels, but these tasted fresh and were decently sized. The overall flavor of the dish was a bit sour which I wasn't a huge fan of. Magic Mushroom Pizza (9/10): I love a thick bready crust so this was right up my alley. I wish there was more mushroom since it felt more like mushroom bits, but I would still order this again. Tiramisu (10/10): fluffy but rich and had the wonderful taste of coffee. I almost didn't want to share! The staff was so nice and did a wonderful job of checking in on us to see if we needed anything. I have my next reservation already booked, but it was so difficult to get.

Yelp
This place is awesome!! I love a good deal and tasty food and great vibes and this place had it all. My bf and I plus 2 friends got a reservation on Wednesday night (which is hard so keep an eye out!!) as the combo deal they have comes with a bottle of free wine on Wednesdays. The combo deal is $60 total for an app or salad, pasta, pizza and dessert. Plus that bottle of wine on Wednesdays! We got 2 combo meals knowing wed have leftovers for the next day, but honestly this combo meal is shareable between 4 people rather than just 2 if you don't want to end up taking anything home. Staff was super friendly and understood us taking a while to make our final decision as there's so many options in the menu, even for vegetarians!! Seems like they can sub/remove things as needed so don't be afraid to ask. For the wine bottle you can state your preference of either a white or red and they'll bring out a random bottle of that type. We said red and got a chianti! For the app/salad we got the pink onion salad, which was a light and fruity salad which helped bring a bright tone to the start of the meal. For the pasta, we were between the pesto and the truffle pasta and ended up going with the truffle one which I'm glad we did. I thought the flavors were lighter with this one. It definitely also smells more truffley than it tastes. Almost like an elevated cacio e pepe. For the pizza, we got the potato pizza (#7) and thought it was good but not amazing. I think we were also pretty full at this point, but regardless made for some great leftovers! I definitely want to try their mushroom pizza next time. For dessert we got the basque cheesecake. This was light on flavor but definitely a heavy dessert! Mostly ended up to go, but again, great leftovers! The place was like a party I will say, at least when we were there it did feel like they were playing from an EDM playlist and at times it was loud but once the wine kicked in it didn't really matter. So be prepared for a loud environment if you do plan to eat here. But all in all, great place to enjoy with friends, will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Overall, would go back for a casual dinner. Price was affordable and everything was delicious! However definitely would recommend taking a lactose before coming here, basically everything had heavy cream and cheese. Pear salad was not my favorite just because blue cheese is not my favorite. Both of the pizzas that we ended up ordering was delicious but I feel like they were really similar, so I think we could've opted for another flavor. Truffle pasta was great too but again it's super creamy and had enough truffle flavor. The pasta itself was just ok. We ended up spending $25 each, which is a super fair price for fresh food in the city.
