The 18 Best Restaurants In Westwood

"Pink Orchid is a bakery on Westwood Blvd. with a massive dessert case filled with everything from cheesecake to tiramisu to chocolate mousse. It’s all good, but we recommend concentrating mostly on the case next to the dessert case. Here is where you’ll find their tremendous sweet crispy bread spiced with cardamom, and most importantly, the piroshkis, which are deep-fried buns filled with housemade custard. To put it simply, they’re perfect. The dough is light and pillowy, the custard is tart, but not sour, and the sugared glaze on the outside elevates all the flavors without overpowering them." - nikko duren, brant cox

Best Persian New Year Foods in Los Angeles - Eater LA

"Though Pink Orchid Bakery has two Southern California locations, head to the West LA outlet for everything Nowruz-related. Visit or call to order the shirini danmarki pastry made with rose water and cardamom, deep-fried ghotab with ground almond flour, rose water, and cardamom, or the sweet Persian puff pastry favorite nazook." - Mona Holmes

Google
The Persian style sweet pastries were some of the best with an authentic flavor. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time for lunch but I’ll be back for sure. They have a great lunch menu.

The Armenian Khachapuri was outstanding, the omelette was fresh and delicious. So many beautiful desserts. A hidden gem. Wonderful and friendly service.

Google
This is a Persian bakery and cafe with some taste food and pastries. The tongue sandwich is amazing and the barley soup is excellent. Also the omelets and other sandwiches are very good. The atmosphere is average. Highly recommended for the food.

Google
Great Persian and Armenian cookies and pastries and breakfast. I highly recommend Napeloni , it is a must. Breakfast was excellent with super hot crunchy barbari bread.

Google
The people in Pink Orchid were so friendly and helpful. I had never had Armenian food, and they guided me to exactly to what my palate desired. They were also so willing and excited to introduce their culture which made the visit extra special.

Google
A fine Persian Bakery that serves a wide variety of subs, cakes and desserts along with authentic tea and coffee. The ambiance is great and the service staff is wonderful. The meats they use is halal per the service staff, so I tried beef tongue sub (yes, beef tongue!). It came in a crispy fresh bread. And it was very tasty. The Persian tea is the brewed classic middle Eastern tea that you can find in Armenian, Persian and Turkish restaurants, not the tea bag. Overall I recommend this place for anyone looking for different tastes.

Every time I am in Westwood I stop by for pastry and tea. It’s a cute small bakery with all my favorite Persian sweets. Parking is a bit hard to find, but it’s a good place to meet up with friends over a pastry and tea. I will go back.

Google
One of the best Persian bakeries! The food, sweets, and Persian Pirashkis are always delicious and fresh. Highly recommended!"

Yelp
Persian bakery with excellent service and a beautiful, tranquil interior of - you guessed it - pink orchids! I love the orange-flavored Bundt cake with walnuts and raisins. Though not a raisin fan, there aren't many. The cake is fresh, moist and not overly sweet. Got my picky mom one for Mother's Day and she loved it. It's 15, and the smaller version is loaf shaped. The round flat bread spinach, onion and mushroom pizza, $3, was delicious and light. The Cappuccino cake lacked flavor but had a good chocolate shell. Other single cake servings and pastries by the pound are available. Also saw challah behind the counter. They sell packages of nuts though prices aren't marked. They also serve sandwiches, salads and soups. There's lots of metered street parking. One day I need to dine inside surrounded by the beautiful, warm flowers.

Yelp
I could tell you this place can be pricey. But let me tell you IT IS WORTH IT I really love the Khachapuri It was my favorite thing on the menu. But as a Iranian-American myself they also have some delicious persian breakfast that was my childhood favorites. I really love that they have desserts they are so tasty. Also the Service is very friendly. I really love the interior it looks so beautiful. 100% coming back again Amazing :-)

Yelp
My friend took me here to try a variety of Persian sweets! We also had the khachapuri which was absolutely delicious and flavorful. There was plenty of searing inside. I really enjoyed their carrot juice which was freshly squeezed with a scoop of ice cream! Parking is street parking and meters were free when we went on Sunday! I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
Came here because it was the closest place to get coffee this morning. I was not disappointed. Plus, some beautiful cakes for sale.

Yelp
Very good. Dates are high quality and large assortment of Persian desserts and some chai

Yelp
The Pink Orchid has the friendliest staff and a beautiful display of cakes and pastries. With so much to choose from, I'll just have to make another visit here soon. I ordered the strawberry napoleon which was light and creamy. My brother-in-law had the tres leches and florentine. The cake was moist and sweet. A perfect balance of cake and cream. My sister had the biscuit cake which was super cute, but its flavor was just okay. We'll be exploring their other desserts next time! :)

Yelp
The prices are extremely high right now and the quality is not that great. The customer service is also not very great but honestly as far as the pricing nowadays thanks to Covid everywhere is becoming like that.

Yelp
Love the sandwiches, pastries and tea. Great place to hangout with friends. Love the service too. You should definitely try their food. I recommend this lovely place

Yelp
How dare this place calls itself a Persian Bakery. The Napoleon and roulette pastry were one bite wonder kind of delicacy. They used some sort of frosting to keep the pastry fresh longer, awful. I needed two gallons of hot water to wash this down (the one bite I took of each). The tea was old and needed three cups of hot water to dilute it down. When we asked for some hot water the lady refused my husband. Did this really happen? How embarrassing to say that to the customer. Im embarrassed to have brought my French husband this establishment. Ambiance is older crowd. I should have looked at the reviews before going here. This place has really gone downhill hope someone reads the comments and decides to help these clueless business owners. SMH

Yelp
Food: I ordered jalebi, baklava, and a rice cookies with poppy seeds. Syrupy, sweet, and a few bites goes a long way. I was pretty full when I stopped in so didn't get to try as many things as I would have liked. Service: Friendly and patient. Parking: I parked on a side street in the neighborhood. Off of Westwood, a couple minutes walking away from the bakery. Plenty of parking around. Experience: This bakery was right next to our dinner spot, so I stopped in to buy just a few things. Place was busy, looked lived in, authentic, and a fun glimpse into an Iranian bakery. Verdict: I feel that bakeries are a must visit whenever traveling or in an enclave. Great stop.

Yelp
Such a cozy place to chill and have a cup of tea and a very delicious pastry on the side! My all time favorite is their cheesecakes, it's so freaking delicious!!

Yelp
Man, i love me some Beef Tongue. Usually i get this kind of food at Mexican restaurants. We went to Pink Orchid in West L.A, and i was amazed that it was a Persian bakery and cafe. Immediately i wanted the Beef Tongue Sandwich as we saw it on the menu, and i watch them cook it in their kitchen. Food is cheap here, nothing overpriced. Sandwich was good, Middle Eastern style way of making it taste better in my opinion. Owners and workers are friendly. This could be my go to spot in Westwood.

Yelp
The BEST piroshkis and gata coffee cake in town!!!!! The service is so friendly and pleasant to deal with.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful Experience! Zarina was so helpful explaining the different desserts and where they come from and even what they pair well with. This sweet little cafe is clean cozy with pink orchids painted on the walls. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
The best Persian pastry and bakery ! They are doing a great job Always fresh and delicious

Yelp
We must have waited there ten minutes while the employee helped customers just going before us. Finally what seemed to be the owner gave some attention and offered advice on what to get from the many varieties of baklava and cakes. She even offered my mom Persian tea even tho she paid for it at the un itemized bill. We ended up with zoolbiah and bahmiah. Similar to a juicy fried goodness with a little rose water. Trust me try it! Extra sweet tho. We didn't try anything fresh unfortunately. The place had a nice steady flow with good seating area.

Yelp
Sunday sweet treat - custard pirashki Loved the custard donut, soft, custard not too sweet and not too oily. Will come back try other bakeries. Highly recommend

Yelp
Those beautiful cakes in the cooler as I walked in struck me as some of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Indeed, this bakery is also an eatery chock-full of goodies. Lots of choices here, too many to sample in one visit too. I enjoyed looking at the selection since only one woman was working the front and there were several people ahead of us, it took a while. I probably changed my mind ten times but a slice of the pistachio cake was destined. After getting the order we sat down to eat and I noticed people who were at the Taste of Tehran restaurant next door also came here for desert. In addition to trying the pistachio cake we also sampled a pastry and slice of mocha cake. Excellent everything, a little slow on service but that's part of the charm in such establishments.

Yelp
I've only been to the bakery on Westwood. I'm completely obsessed with their almond cookies. They are so delicious and addicting. It's soft, chewy yet crispy. It's the perfect texture combination. It's not too sweet so it seems healthy. They told me a tip - keep the almond cookies in the fridge.

Yelp
Amazing food Clean place Heard about this place from a fried I had to try it Plenty of street parking Great customer service Little over priced in the sandwich part

Samson M.

Yelp
Just picked up our cake from Pink Orchid and it looks as perfect as the photo we saw. The mocha cake was delicious and it was aesthetically beautiful! Most of all Zarina's, positive attitude and assistance is what will make me come again! 5 stars!

Sherly N.

Yelp
They used to have a good service and food. recently they increased each item 3-4 dollar and the quality of food drastically decreased. On top of that if you order something for to go, the woman charge you $2-$3 extra for tip without letting you know. The quality of their sandwiches is very poor. I would not recommend nor come back again Also they ask you to pay cash otherwise they will charge extra 3% which is illegal and should be reported

Yelp
The Best food, a super tasty variety and the service is amazing! Super clean and nice staff everyone is friendly I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys quality.

Yelp
Nice place to sit in the mornings. Persian breakfast with some tea is as good as it gets. Gets a bit crowded later in the day so food takes longer. Food still good. Prices are totally fair and bakery cookies are phenomenal.

Yelp
Worst cake choice ever! It was my moms bday and I wanted to surprise her with her favorite choice "tiramisu". This cake looks like a tiramisu and had tag on top of it assuring its a tiramisu! But once cut inside has nothing to do with it, it's just a simple chocolate sponge cake you can buy at any market for $15 topped and layered by white mouse of some sort! And I got charged $55 for it! I went back to the bakery to address the issue and the lady told me "I'm sorry you didn't like the taste of our tiramisu" I said that the whole point this is not a tiramisu! She said "did it have ladyfingers?" I said on the outside decoration had something look like it! I do not recommend buying a cake from this location. I told her this is such a wrong advertisement. ‍ we had 20 guests all agreed that this is not a tiramisu and was a basic cake.

Anastasia P.

Yelp
The lady who rung me up was really nice but tipped herself without my knowledge/consent. I noticed my total was more than I expected, my food cost 17$ expected to pay 18-19$ but payed 23$ plus I put money in the tip jar before I noticed she tipped herself.

Yelp
Pink Orchid is a Persian bakery with pastries, sandwiches and drinks. It was packed at 6pm and the wait to order was about 10 mins. To move things along, the baklava is all numbered, so you can just tell them how much of each Number. There's metered parking along Westwood and side streets; I'd check the signage when parking in surrounding neighborhoods. For the food: All the pastry items were a bit disappointing. The almond cookie was tough - it took a few days to soften up to get a nice chewy texture. The baklava was soggy. Instead of the crisp you want with those layers, it was squishy. It almost seemed like it was undercooked and raw. I ordered beef sausage sandwich and it took awhile to prepare (20 min) only find out it was sitting on their shelf (not sure if I didn't hear the number or they didn't call). The sandwiches have an impressive filling to bread ratio - just enough freshly baked bread to hold the sandwich together. This was the saving dish of the trip; it's tasty, but a bit pricey for a sausage sandwich.

Mona M.

Yelp
Today I went to pink orchid , I bought a Rolet and I wanted to bring to my friend's house . The taste instead of sweet was sour and I feel so bad in front of my friends! The taste was awful!

Yelp
My guilty pleasures take over too often lately so I became a frequent customer. That custard Napoleon is simply to die for. Five stars bakery, hands-down. My favorite part about this bakery is that they have alternatives to the white, disgusting sugar frosting that's being sold and spread on desserts at most American bakeries. Sure, they still have various cakes that are stuffed with it but there's also custard, caramel, vanilla and various fruit jam fillings. There are also potato, sweet cheese and meat pastries. Most of them are delicious and not overly sweet. On top of it all pink orchid also makes sandwiches and supposedly really good breakfast dishes that I haven't tried yet. I wish there were a nice seating area inside but unfortunately the bakery is very small. That doesn't stop me from stopping in once in a while to pack up on sugar.
google avatar

Yelp
I love their sweet, desserts and bread! So rich and fresh. They have a layered chocolate cake that is amazingly delicious!!
google avatar

Marrisa N.

Yelp
Nestled amongst the beautiful storefronts of Persian Square, this cozy spot is an absolute must when in the area. The ambiance is very inviting, always bustling with energy and warmth. Although I do love their ever popular pirashki, my favorite pastry has to be their raisin danish (not sure what the exact name of it is); It's so soft and has the perfect amount of sweetness, definitely a forever favorite of mine.
google avatar

Yelp
Beware, no refund and no replacement! The stuffed grape leaves were so hard, hummus stale, trashed the plate.
google avatar

Analucia C.

Yelp
The only good part about this place is the food.the bad parts about this place is bad costumer service the lady attended us last and instead attended the old men first and then she attended everyone else instead of us when we finally got to order she was being really rude when we confronted her she said that it was not her fault but we were asking her if she can attend us but she said she was busy

Yelp
Came here for the first time for lunch. To be fair, this review is based on the Bandari sandwich only. First of all, their prices are not listed anywhere. The only price you will see listed are the juices. Only pictures of the sandwiches are posted. I don't know ANY business that does that. It is standard practice to provide prices for any service or goods you're selling. Is the Better Business Bureau in agreement with this practice? Second, the main part of a Bandari sandwich is supposed to be the sausage as posted in one of my pics which I found from another customer's review on Yelp. The other picture is what my sandwich - full of potatoes, lettuce and other ingredients and just a few small chopped pieces of sausage throughout 2 sandwiches. All I could taste was everything but the sausage. I felt ripped off. Third, one sandwich costs nearly $20!!!!!! Are you kidding me?!!!! I can get a full plate of kabab, rice and salad for that much anywhere. I came all the way from Woodland Hills to experience this particular sandwich and I was utterly disappointed. And it takes a lot to disappoint me and for me to write a bad review. I do not recommend this place.
google avatar

Haley W.

Yelp
Such a cute Café! The staff was so friendly! Plenty of things on the menu. I had ordered the cauliflower omelet and it was very delicious! Highly recommend!

Shi S.

Yelp
Pastries are average. Lately some of their pastries taste week old stale. At their increased prices, that is offensive. I am dropping a star because they have a Tip dish by their cash register. No way that I want to be shamed for going in there to buy their bakery goods and they want a tip for selling or handing it to me. Get rid of the tipping mentality!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
If you need some delicious comfort food, you need to try the Armenian khachapuri... it is so delicious! Over-easy eggs, melted feta and dill that is baked together in a boat-shaped dough is absolute heaven. We came here on a Saturday morning and really enjoyed it! There were a couple of small children running around and going into the kitchen area. One star removed for that. But otherwise a very friendly and delightful place to visit!
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Excelente service from the girl that helped me last Saturday and give me her recommendations according to what I wanted. She was so helpful and courteous. I tried the Tiramisu & Baklava Stuffed Pistachios with team and they were so good I even returned to order to go.
google avatar

Yelp
This is not a place I recommend to anyone! Literally every single time I've ordered a sandwich from them weather its the Olvieh sandwich, the mortadella sandwich or that god awful beef kutlet sandwich be aware that its ALL leftovers and only they know from how long ago! Also, they use bread that's either old or just horrible quality because I kid you not... it rips holes in your mouth when trying to bite into it. Its overly priced for left over foods!!!! 2 sandwiches came up to $33 something dollars and even after I called and complained about them not following special instructions they still didn't refund me my money!!!! Instead the owner stated he followed instructions and made it himself! Ironically, since I had already spent so much money on food For my lunch I TRIED to eat it and ended up vomiting the left over BEEF KUTLET!!!! Do not order that!!!!!!
google avatar

Arash R.

Yelp
A few days ago, I had a strong craving for a Persian style sandwich. Remembering the great hospitality and service at Pink Orchid, I decided to go there. Hands down, they serve one of the best Persian style sandwiches in town. Make sure to try their house sausage/ shekari it's so delicious
google avatar

Yelp
I was very impressed with the quality and tasty treats here. I came in on New Years by chance. Waiting for my to go order at Taste Of Tehran, I noticed this place next door. I will say the line moves rather slowly, but after tasting the cakes definitely worth the wait. I tried the birds milk cake (one of my favorites) and it was one of the best tasting cakes I've tried in a long time. The Russian cake was ok. Maybe a little old but something I've grown used to at most the little Russian stores I frequent. I will be back to definitely try the honey layered cake and some of the other non-traditional US choices. (There are many) I also got a chocolate chip cookie to sample which was amazing as well. The woman who work here are definitely nice and friendly. I will be back
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
We went in there because the pastries in the display case looked so good. We got a piece of strawberry cake and it was just awful. It was dry and literally flavorless. It looked great but it was not even worth eating. We threw it away as it didn't live up to my expectations. We needed up in Mashti Malones and had some really good ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic vibe. For a moment you are teleported to a small cafe in Iran. We had two teas and a small piece of cake. Its everything you'd expect from a small cafe. The variety of baked goods will delight your taste buds.

F. N.

Yelp
Do not buy any pastries, cake or cookies from here it is awful!!!! Lots of my friends agree with me that their sweets are awful and very expensive. They don't even care enough to clarify the problem and answer the comments or appologize!
google avatar

Samira S.

Yelp
This place is quite the cultural experience. It is Armenian owned and they sell Persian cultural foods, pastries and candies. My personal favorite is the "peerashki" it's like a Persian donut that they fill with custard. It is absolutely delicious and must be eaten the day of - or within a few hours of purchase for optimal flavor. Highly recommend‼

Shiva M.

Yelp
Super yummy Comes with tea, feta, barbari bread So yummy Their koosabzi/ veggie cotlet sandwiches are good too Also really liked their Greek salad

Yelp
We love coming here when we are in town. I always put in my order next door and then come to the bakery for their fresh baked bread and pastries. My kids LOVE their cakes and cheese cakes and cake pops. Their in house baked bread is amazing and we always grab two loaves for the road trip home. I have never ordered any of their food food but the bread is a MUST since I have had a hard time finding good fresh baked in house middle eastern bread. Their pastries are also delicious! We love this place :)
