The Best Pizza in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Technically, Pinky Ring is located in Madison, but the pies here are so good, they merit a mention. Don Hernandez’s pie shop is in a former Sir Pizza location tucked inside a strip mall. Here, the kitchen churns out 18-inch pies like the Fig & Pig with both white and fig sauce, and the Madison Pickle with daikon pesto, mozzarella, smoked provolone, dill pickles, Calabrian chili, garlic, and ranch. The small patio is great for sipping on the non-alcoholic (and alcoholic) drink selections." - Ellen Fort

The 14 Best Pizza Places In Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Pinky Ring is a tiny shop in Madison that makes nearly perfect pizza. Each mammoth slice is an expert blend of sauces and toppings, and a good rule of thumb here is if it’s got ricotta on it, get it. Especially if it’s the Madtown, with meatballs sliced like pepperonis and tiny peppadew-like peppers. We’re also big fans of the New Haven Red pie and the Madison Hot Pickle, with white sauce and smoked provolone. No matter what you get, the crust will be heartbreakingly tender, and the toppings are always treated with precision. They’ve got a cute little takeout window, but this pizza deserves to be eaten as fresh as can be, so we prefer sitting at their counter, especially for the two-slice special during lunch." - ann walczak

Pinky Ring Pizza – Madison, Tennessee - Gastro Obscura

"Wedged into a strip mall parking lot behind a Subway, this unassuming pizza parlor turns out 18-inch New York–style pies that could make Manhattan’s top pizzaiolos weak in the knees. Offerings lean unconventional, with standouts including the Esmerelda, featuring pistachio pesto, fig preserves, and charred lamb flank, and the Bianca, which tops a ricotta base with locally grown oyster mushrooms. The real feat of nature, however, is the pickle pizza, which pairs slivers of kosher dill pickles with toasted garlic, ricotta cream, smoked provolone, and ranch. Recently, the kitchen crew has been experimenting with a plussed-up variation called the “Hot Matty.” Chef David Bonner, Jr., inspired by a cluster of daikon radish sprouts growing on the counter, whipped up a daikon-feta pesto and amped up the heat using a healthy hit of Calabrian chiles. It sounds bizarre; it tastes sensational. The sweet-hot-savory flavor is loosely reminiscent of Nashville’s famous hot chicken sandwich. “If you think about it, a pizza is really just an exhibitionist panino,” says chef David Paternostro. Attention to detail is what makes this unlikely flavor combination sing. Wes Scoggins, Pinky Ring’s founding executive chef (who sometimes goes by the Jewish Cowboy), uses two wild starters in his 48-hour-aged dough: One hails from Bootleg Biology, a local Nashville fermentation lab, and one is collected by Jester King, the pioneering Texas brewery known for their spontaneously fermented ales. The pickles (as well as the restaurant’s banana peppers and giardiniera) bathe in a house mother vinegar. And that ranch dressing? It begins by soaking Parmigiano-Reggiano rinds in heavy cream until they liquify, which Wes’s brother and kitchen-overseer, Kameron Scoggins, does in-house, along with the help of the team. The umami-packed elixir then gets a shower of fresh herbs, plus a blend of marigolds, borage, and other edible flower blossoms. According to the chefs, the brightly speckled mixture initially resembles a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. It’s a “ranch” so good, regulars know to ask for a side for dunking, regardless of what pizza they’ve ordered. Know Before You Go To avoid waiting for your pizza at peak dining hours, call ahead to order, then simply tear open your box on the picnic benches. Owner Don Hernandez, a restaurant and bar industry veteran who is sober, made sure that there’s also an excellent selection of non-alcoholic drinks available." - rachelrummel

Google
As as avid pizza eater I can safely say, this is the best pizza I've ever eaten. Hands down. Our pizza was done incredibly fast, but with such attention to detail. All ingredients are fresh, and that fact definitely comes through in the taste. The staff was very friendly and humble. Do yourself a favor, get a full sized pizza, because this is a pie you won't be able to put down.

Google
Delicious visit! A slice is more than enough but their lunch combo includes 2 slices and a drink. They have whole pies and a daily selection that rotates. There’s indoor counter seating and a covered patio, with a decent amount of lot parking.

Google
This is a great pizza spot! I’ve tried dine in and take out. The slices are a BIG NYC style! The vegan pepperoni is so flavorful. The pizzeria does have alcoholic beverages, canned cocktails and craft beers. It does get busy and seats can get filled before you know it. I’d recommend ordering ahead then eating in if you’re hangry! We usually have leftovers which I appreciate due to most places downsizing pizza sizes lately.

Google
When I think of great pizza this is it!! My wife and I went a couple weeks ago on a Sunday and they had a sign on the door that said. “ Sorry, No Dough. We sold out over the weekend “ I said to myself, self, I have to get that pizza!! Dropped in today and now I know why the sign was there! Amazing! I’m pretty basic on my pies. Traditional Pepperoni for me! The Cheese! The Sauce! The DOUGH!!! The Pepperoni!! All great ingredients. They let me know the dough sets for 3 days! They threw me a cookie on the house! 😃😃🤤 Great job, Y’all!!

Google
Been here twice in less than a week. The pizza is incredible and the best pizza I've had since moving down from New York. The pepperoni is a nice thin slice on top of amazingly perfect cheese layer. The char on the bottom is perfect not overly toasted but just right. The sauce on the pizza has a very aromatic ( I'm assuming fresh basil) taste. A good array of hot sauces to throw on a slice even tho you don't need any from how incredible it is. My only issue with this place is that it's not closer to Clarksville! I would come here daily.

Google
We love Pinky Ring Pizza! They have such a variety of pizza types and the food is made fresh. Great vibes, indoor/outdoor seating, unique merchandise, and wonderful service.

Google
Say what you want but at least try everywhere before you judge! This is the best pizza in Nashville, crust makes the pizza and with fresh handcut toppings makes it the best! It gets no better in Nashville.

Lane Stevenson

Google
Feels a bit pricey but the pepperoni slices were good - pretty thin with a nice ratio of ingredients. The large pepperoni are nice - as far as my pizza eating has led me, Pinky Ring and Five Points are the best in/around Nashville. The two aren't comparable at all, totally different styles of pizza. You could eat both back to back and be happy without feeling like you've had too much pizza.

Yelp
The best pizza in Nashville! I don't know what it is about this place, but there no better pizza in Nashville. The crust is perfect. The sauce is so flavorful and the toppings are great. It might be my favorite pizza, anywhere. Tight parking lot, but it's worth any trouble you'd go through to find parking out front or along the street.

Yelp
Awesome place and they put a lot of work into it. The vibes get an A+ in my book. Just fell a bit short honestly. This is probably one of the better slices of pizza you'll get in Nashville. Being from the NY/NJ area it isn't super close but better than most spots in the area. (I understand not every pizzeria strives to recreate the NY Slice) I can't justify the price unfortunately , we paid about 42 bucks for a full pizza and 2 cokes. The pizza pie was on the smaller side for being 18 inches. I wish it was a bit more affordable for Pizza. The staff was great, all the guys in there seem to enjoy being there and they are extremely helpful.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood pizza spot. Mostly slide in for slices. Staff is the best. I love them all. Pizza is in the top pizza spots in Nashville. I know pizza is very personal to many people and everyone has such a vast array of what they "believe" is the best. This (to me) is closely comparable to NY style (my favorite). They have many pies that have crazy ingredients and if that's your thing this place has got to be the most creative when producing "themed" pies... but for myself I just stick to the "gold medal slice" the cheese. Side note: I love the new awning they put over the outdoor seating. Makes the outdoor ambiance much cooler and the vibes are nice.

Yelp
For my grandson's 18th birthday we went on an adventure, searching for his favorite slice of pepperoni. We went to three different pizza places and had a slice of pepperoni at each. Congrats Pinky Ring you were the winner for both of us! Great fold, giant delicious pepperoni, one of my favorite pizza crusts ever. Can't what to go back and try the rest!
google avatar

Simone G.

Yelp
Most of the time the pizza is great. But sometimes the whole pizza comes out undercooked and chewy. They have creative flavors and I love that they sell by the slice.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot for a quick NY style slice or a whole pie, this is it! We came about an hour before close and waited about 30 mins for what was THE BEST NY style pizza around. Perfect amount of sauce, cheese and topping. The foldable golden thin crust is the best. From the owner at the counter to the fellas in the back making the pies, nothing but friendly! Place has counters to eat at or you can eat outside on the covered patio. Everything was clean from the floors to the bathrooms. We will definitely be back for lunch when they serve single slices from open to 3p!

Yelp
WOW this pizza is excellent! The inside is so cute too, branding is really on point! The service was great too, everyone was friendly. We got a pizza that was Half Forager Pizza and half New Haven Red. The Forager was incredible! I don't like sweet good at all, and the fig on top really wasn't super sweet. It went perfectly with the white sauce, smoked provolone, fresh arugula and veggies. Literally SO good! The New Haven- this was very peppery and not what I expected! But it was really really good. The Gorgonzilla- very sweet. It was flavorful and worth the try, but depends on whether or not you like a sweet tasting pizza. I also love that this location offer slices of pizza for $6. We're talking about a Costco sized slice if you know what I mean! There is also a fridge full of beers, sours, etc if you are wanting alcohol. Also the undercarriage was perfect. I was so surprised and can't wait to go back. Overall, this is the best pizza I've had in Nashville so far.

Yelp
I loved this place! The inside was small, like a walk up area to order with a few large picnic tables outside to sit at. They have a selection of alcoholic beverages and sodas. The pizza was delicious and I love the fact you can do half and half when you can't decide what you want! The employees were all friendly and helpful as well. Delicious local spot!
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Big floppy delicious NYC style slices of pizza. Unfortunately for those of us who live in Nashville proper ... it's north in Madison and by the time you bring the pizza home it's cold. So eat there!
google avatar

Yelp
A fun pizza place located in Madison. Kind of in a spot that you wouldn't expect. Service was fast and the place was cute. Pizza options were totally unusual and delicious. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Mae D.

Yelp
Not sure how they name came about but it's catchy and the decor matches the theme! Loved the garden with herbs right on site!
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Expensive but tasty. I'd go to satisfy the specialty pizza craving. I can say I do love a good pizza so I'll be back!
google avatar

Connor S.

Yelp
Let me start with the ambiance and service. We walked in and we're immediately greeted by the entire front of house staff. They walked us through the menu, what their favorite toppings were and how their pizza was unique. The front of house man told us the history of the naming of the restaurant, and the why behind the story which was a very unique experience for us. The food was pretty good. It's made to order. We ordered the Bianca with sausage and it was pretty good. Very similar to 5 points pizza. The pizza was very very greasy but it wasn't overwhelmingly garlicky like most biancas. Will definitely return based upon the service alone, however the prices are very very high. Had to lower down to 3 stars because the cheesecake was abysmal.

Yelp
We heard about a pickle pizza and I have been on a pickle kick lately. My partner and I came here to try their Pickle Pizza pie and it was EVERYTHING I wanted. We also got the garlic bread, it was thick sourdough and absolutely drenched in garlic butter (yummmm) and served with fresh grated cheese and basil on top. Everyone was friendly, the inside counter was clean and well stocked with parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasonings. We each got a beer (er, cider and a sour) and enjoyed our time there. I saw another pizza I want to try (the Esmerelda) so we will be back soon!

Yelp
First visit and really great spot for pie and good vibes. Owners are super cool and friendly. Pizza was made to perfection. I will say that if your worried about the portion size or if it will be enough food? Don't... Plenty of fresh ingredients and thoughtfully prepared with pride and skill. It was well worth skipping the usual in the 37206. I will make the trip out to collect this solid pizza made by a team of friends with passion for great food and service. I always appreciate local beer (Bear Walker 16oz) at a local restaurant on small business Saturday. Cheers boys you have a winner in my mind and thank you for being open for us to enjoy a awesome pizza after the turkey marathon...
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Love the pizza! Great place to sit and enjoy outside. Staff is friendly. Watch out for the "Lunch Special," sounds like you are getting a "free" with 2 slices and save some money; but you are really just paying for a drink at normal prices. Not being able to order slices in advance causes me to wait every single time. I call and I'm told 30 seconds for any slices. Every time I come, I wait 15-20 minutes for new pizzas to be made for slices.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Delicious! This is pretty close to my Platonic ideal of pizza: big slices with enough inner crust stability not to flop over, chewy outer crust, a good amount of cheese, and (per the menu) "thick sliced extra large" pepperoni with hearty flavor. A full pie fed two of us and gave us a lot of leftovers for a second meal. We started with the focaccia served with whipped ricotta, and I'm glad we did because there was a bit of a wait for the pizza -- can't rush perfection! -- and my stomach was getting grumbly watching everyone else dive into their slices. I'd recommend ordering a starter or maybe calling ahead to place an order if you're worried about the wait. Thankfully, they've got a really extensive drinks menu (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to keep you occupied. I was especially excited to see several flavors of Austin East Ciders. The space is really cute, and there are several large picnic tables outside on the patio. Looking forward to coming back and trying the garlic knots, Porcetta pie, and cheesecake.

Yelp
It's so nice to have an elevated spot for food in Madison! The pink aesthetic is super cute, the food is delicious, and everyone who works here is so nice and helpful! They are also vegan/vegetarian friendly, my boyfriend loved the Be-Hive pepperoni. It's definitely on the pricy side for a pizza night, but the quality is worth it!
google avatar

Be G.

Yelp
We stopped by last weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Great pizza, friendly staff. And a shout-out for having a couple hard ciders available. The only downsides? We would have liked a little more indoor seating, since it was cool outside. And they are too far from West Nashville to visit regularly. But we'll try.

Kristina M.

Yelp
Must have come on bad day..hardly no cheese, only one piece of pepperoni on slice, the white slice was better and garlic bread just so-so. For $26 need to do better...
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Best pizza in Nashville! The crust is outstanding! The touch of fresh basil on my pepperoni slice really hit the spot!
google avatar

Erick M.

Yelp
Best pizza I have tasted in Madison Tennessee by far, it's garlic bread was delicious and the pizza was amazing, I would recommend this place 100% New York style it sure is
google avatar

Pamela D.

Yelp
I want to say this is the best pizza I have ever had and I have had pizza from everywhere including New York. The Chicago Hot was my favorite but they were all good that we tried. The crust is the best where it's nice and crisp and the rest of the slice has that dip/flop that's authentic to New York style pizza. Joeys house of pizza would be jealous of Pinky Ring. The dining room is nice and cozy and well decorated. The bathrooms are very clean. The staff was amazing and very nice. I rate it at a 9/10 because the Chicago and Madison hot need more heat as they were not hot to me. I really do mean this is the best pizza I have ever had. Chicago and New York ain't got nothing on Pinky Ring! Cannot wait to stop back for more pizza! Ohhhh and the desserts were fantastic. The Whoopi pies were soft and held together nice and were not too sweet. The pistachio cannoli was so good and the pastry was crisp and soft at the same time. My daughter gobbles up the chocolate chip one in like 2 bites. Great job PRP!
google avatar

Mike Z.

Yelp
Sourdough pizza! The patience this takes and also the ability to crank out pizzas at a high temp so they get out for everyone to enjoy is a labor of love and I appreciate it. I love that it's legit set up like a pop-in pizza joint. While the wait for a pie took a bit, it's great to see a new business thriving. Great beer selection, pizza by the slice, appetizers and salads as well. There's also decent amount of picnic tables to eat outside also and a stand up bar along the window to eat your slices. We'll be back but damn, the price of pizza have sure come a long way from what you grew up with. O_O
google avatar

Lina R.

Yelp
I am a bit of a pizza snob because I lived and NYC and know what true NYC style pizza should taste like... I have to say, they got pretty close here!!! We met the owner, Don, very nice and welcoming man as well of the rest of the staff. A really clean and cozy inside and lots of outdoor space available as well.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
I'm from New Haven, CT, home of the best pizza in the country (in my biased, humble opinion) and bearing that in mind, I have to say that Pinky Ring is the best I've had in Nashville so far. Something this place understands that is significant is the SAUCE! Great flavor. Pizza is more of an art than it gets credit for, and Pinky Ring has really taken that into consideration. Also, the folks that work there are friendly and took my order just before closing, which I appreciated. I'm a self diagnosed pizza snob, so I don't take this rating lightly. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Dagan B.

Yelp
Got one with extra cheese with sausage and bacon. Also the Bibb salad. Both were really good. Got some extra sauce for the crust and bingo much better experience. I almost always give places another try especially when they are new. Unless they are just really bad,. That was never the case here. I recommend the extra cheese.
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
I just ate a pizza here called the rosa pizza. It was literally as if the gods appeared from the vast and empty seas when the pizza box was opened. It was truly a holy experience.
google avatar

Matt A.

Yelp
Absolute best pizza in Nashville! Inventive takes on classic flavors. The crisp, yet chewy crust is fantastic. When you walk in you are greeted with a smile which creates a nice home town feel without the pretentiousness that comes either many "new pizza" style restaurants. So lucky to have them in our community!
google avatar

Marlo G.

Yelp
This pizza is fantastic! Adorable spot with a great patio. We also got the garlic bread, which is delicious but A LOT of food.
google avatar

Phil M.

Yelp
Nice little spot in Madison. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Pizza was decent. Great crust, but the sauce was a bit of a miss for me. Tasted similar to every other place in town. Better than most places in Nashville, so it's now close to the top of my list as one of the better pizzas around.
google avatar

Kelle F.

Yelp
I like authentic pizza and this definitely hit the spot. It looks like a dive, but you can trust the location. Fellas in there are nice.
google avatar

Tracy D.

Yelp
Pizza was great, just got by the slice and it was crispy and fresh. One of the guys was collaborating with a chef from another restraint while we were there and and it showed they care about their craft and always getting better. Small indoor seating area and in a sketchy location but it was still great.
google avatar

Tommy B.

Yelp
Stopped in to get a couple of slices. I ordered a pepperoni slice and a Roma slice. Pep was 9/10, absolutely amazing slice. Roma didn't impress me, but I'd still like to try a slice of all their pies. It was very busy, but it's Super Bowl weekend. The pizzeria is beautiful and the vibe behind the counter seemed good despite the craziness. I'll return, 4.5/5
google avatar

Annika S.

Yelp
Yummmmmmmm! Was a perfect day to grab a slice and sit on the patio! Toddler and I just finished having a blast at the library and love how close pinky ring is to stop by for an extra yummy lunch! I've been excited to try the pizza for a while, but honestly I've been more excited for this seasonal veggie caprese! It was excellent! Such delicious fresh mozzarella and zippy squash. But can't forget about the pizza! Excellent chew and crisp crust! We'll be back!
google avatar

Ayana N.

Yelp
This was the best pizza I have ever eaten in my life. The service was efficient. The look of the building was unique. It was very small.
google avatar

Rick M.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Madison! Great quality pizza with a great selection of options. You can even buy pizza by the slice!
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
Great pizza restaurant in Madison. The menu is delicious. Lovely outside seating area.
google avatar

Faith S.

Yelp
UHMAZING! Hands down the best pizza. Don't hate me when I say pinky rings is better than five points, they have good pizza but I love the crust of Pinky rings. I eat at both spots but if I were to pick.... Pinky Rings hands down!! Not only is the pizza great but the staff is VERY nice. Try the garlic bread ;) thank me later

Laura K.

Yelp
Delicious pizza with upscale, locally sourced toppings. I'm not vegan, but my vegan friends said their vegan options are delicious. Great service, great atmosphere. Love it!

Matthew S.

Yelp
I am a pizza guy and have to say this is one of the best pizza places in Nashville! Pizza did take a bit to get out, but was worth the wait! I plan to be back!

Britne D.

Yelp
We ordered to go online, which was easy. It was our first time eating at Pinky Ring but it won't be our last!
google avatar

Shawna O.

Yelp
Soooo freakin good + the staff is awesome. Such a nice and inviting crew feeding me all the delicious carbs madtown is getting it together!
google avatar

Carolyn A.

Yelp
This place has amazing pizza! I tried the pickle pizza and was very impressed. My husband tried the less adventurous supreme and he said his was delicious. Pizza is thinner crust in the center with a thicker outer crust. Definitely worth the visit and price. We did take out but the restaurant looked like it had a good vibe and there were plenty of people enjoying a meal outside or at the window bar.
google avatar

Maric S.

Yelp
Hot new place! Pizza was fabulous and the place had great vibes. Not a ton of inside seating, but they've got a nice patio outside. Delicious pizza.
google avatar

Kimberley M.

Yelp
So good. Worth every penny. Great east dinner! Suggest pick up, it was super easy and fresh.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is pretty, pretty, pretty good. Pretty good! If you like Five Points (East) but enjoy more specialty pie options, better crust, friendly service, and more parking, then check this place out. Not too far of a drive from East Nashville and totally worth it. Everything we've gotten from here has been amazing. Check it out!
google avatar

Christal J.

Yelp
Have eaten here a few times. Seating can be hard to come by in the evenings. The food is decent to good. They are a nice group of folks and want to give you good food and service. The prices are a bit high and if they are busy there will be a wait. They have unique pizzas. It was nice to try out.
google avatar

Renee C.

Yelp
The pizza was amazing! Wonderfully crispy NYC style crust. The red pizza was a touch spicy but lovely with prosciutto added (next time will also add cheese I think). The Porchetta was a slightly sweeter pizza with the balsamic but I would order both again. I wish they had a location closer to Nashville. The seating is somewhat limited with indoor window bar seats and patio picnic tables. Service was great and there was plenty of parking.
google avatar

Tyeisha G.

Yelp
Best Pizza that l have EVER had in Nashville! The Esmeralda pizza is unlike anything I've ever had before and it is so delicious. Honestly I have tried all flavors and every last one is a win. Check them out!
