Pio Pio 6

The bottom line is that this place offers really good Peruvian food! I went to another Pio Pio in UES that is more casual, and has cheaper prices. This location, which is going for a more fine dining vibe, charges a bit more for that even though you’re getting the same quality food. ($30 for a fish entrée struck me as about right, but spending $16 for a plate with rice and a moderate portion of beans struck me as high, especially since lots of places include at least rice with an entrée.) This place, the only Peruvian spot on the UWS, gets crowded and as a result it gets noisy, so at least for me, it’s not the kind of spot where you would want to linger after finishing your food. But hey, that’s just me. Judging from the crowds, Pio Pio is the go to spot for Peruvian food and deserves its fine reputation.

We were in the area and decided to go to Pio Pio. The food was amazing. My wife and I left very full and very happy. The Corvina a lo Macho is amazing. We will definitely go back to Pio Pio.

This place was great the chicken was perfectly cooked and the passion fruit margarita was hands down the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot I had 6 of them this day maybe to much but I definitely enjoyed them love this place definitely recommend

Very delicious meal for a decent price. We had the combo at $64 and still ended up taking food home. Friendly staff, fast and courteous service, and a nice ambience. Also, located close to the 1,2,3 subway line.

DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE EMPANADAS. Seriously. The best empanadas I’ve had in NY. Filled to the brim, well-marinated, very crispy exterior and they also added some olives to add taste to the filling. For those who know what (Singapore-style) curry puffs are, these are like the Peruvian version, and better. They offer free delivery through their website (minimum 11.99). The food was delivered much quicker than expected, and the empanadas were still very crispy after delivery. I also tried the chicken. It was good, but not the best I’ve tried. The 1/4 portion is quite small (similar to 1/4 of a spring chicken) so you might want to order 1/2.

Food was good, but the service was ridiculous. We came at 9:45pm and were told that the restaurant closes at 10pm despite the hours on google showing that they are open until 11pm. Were permitted to sit but were rushed to order. More people came in 5 minutes after us and were denied service. Before paying for our check, we asked for a can of coke. The waiter replied that the bar is closed. Really? You need to open a bar to sell a can of coke? This place might have good food but service and management is a complete joke. Good luck! I won’t be back. Word of advice to the owners: log onto your google profile AND CHANGE THE HOURS!

This by far the best Pio Pio location out of all. Chickens are fresh, I mean meat off the bone type of fresh. Go here.

The sangria was good, we got the half pitcher and it was enough for 3 glasses (as seen in the picture). For starters, we had the calamari (8 out of 10), I had the Salmon del Pio, which was a 9 out of 10 for me, and my wife had the seafood combination ( 9 out of 10). All the food was delicious, the staff were friendly and responsive, and the environment was clean and appealing. I would recommend to anyone that does not mind the bit above average pricing.

Used to order in here a bunch a few years back and sort of forgot about it! It's still as good as it used to be back in 2019, but the PRICES SKYROCKETED!! This used to be 50% cheaper back in the day so it's not really affordable as a weekly takeout option. But the food is GREAT!

Joined a friend here for a quick dinner recently. If you're not too hungry they offer a half chicken option. Perfect portion along with rice and beans on the side. Delish!

I had a late diner with a friend. He had a seafood combo with a side of maduro *DELICIOUS ! I had the Lomo Saltado. OMG ! I may not be Peruvian and don't have any real experience with their food but, IT WAS GREAT! The servers were attentative and informed. Our meal arrive without waste and we were not rushed out. The location is small and nicely appointed inside. It has a nice small restaurant look. BRAVA. I will be back with more friends.

Have asked a few times when ordering takeout that the salad be prepared fresh, not one that has been sitting in the fridge. Waterlogged lettuce that always needs the salad spinner, same with cucumbers, tomatoes always meh, fries limp. Plus the price is out of control. Loved this location for a long time but time to break up. :(

I came here with a small group of friends for a late dinner. The staff were able to set up a table for us right away, which I was grateful about. There was a chill vibe to the place. There wasn't that much I was interested in on the menu, because I had tried the chicken, tostones, rice and many other items. I finally decided on the Jalao dish, which was a plethora of fried seafood, including fish, shrimp, calamari, along with onion rings and yuca fries. This was also served with red onion corn salad. I ordered the small size, but it was a HUGE platter. The seafood was full of flavor, and I especially enjoyed the fish and shrimp. The fish was tender and flaky, while the shrimp was juicy and perfectly cooked. They both had a wonderful crispiness. Calamari was decent, though wasn't crunchy enough and a bit on the chewy side. The yuca fries were quite yummy. Everything tasted even better with the well seasoned, savory green sauce. The salad was a nice fresh element to the meal. Service was just okay. It felt a bit rushed, as they were closing towards the end of our time there. I would most likely not return to this location.

I'm gonna say it... rotisserie chicken is the superior chicken. Even better than fried. Fight me on it. And Pio Pio does a great rotisserie chicken. I ordered the 1/4 chicken and fries. After I placed the order I thought maybe I should have ordered the 1/2. But after I saw the amount of fries I knew it was plenty of food. Unexpectedly, they have above average fries. Thick cut, perfectly salted, and tender. Now let's talk about the star of the show, the green sauce. It comes out before anything else does because it's not to be missed. Perfect accompaniment to the chicken. It's spicy but not overwhelmingly so. It's herby and bright. Delicious. The white sangria is also very good. Especially on a summer night. Refreshing. If I had a Ronco "set it and forget it" rotisserie oven I would have rotisserie chicken every week. But Pio Pio makes it into a nice treat with the green sauce you can't get anywhere else.

I've been going to Pio Pio for years now, and it's consistently wonderful. The food is good, the service is prompt, and the prices are always reasonable (the matador combo in particular is really a standout)! By those standards, this place deserves a five star rating, but my experience last night/day just solidifies that. We went with a big group of friends last night and somehow in the shuffle of leaving the restaurant I dropped my wallet on the floor and didn't realize. When I called today they had it, along with all the cash! So good food, good service, and 100% honesty! You know we'll be back again sooner than later!!

Came in on a Monday night for a fulfilling dinner and that's exactly what we got! Food came out hot and delicious! Our Ceviche and Anticuchos were soooo delicious!Our main course the Lomo Saltado was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Sadly our pitcher of Chica Morada lacked flavored and needed a strain from the sediment. Hope to be back l soon for another hot meal!

Been coming here for 10+ years. The food is always consistent! The service is amazing, very friendly. The place is clean as well. The Mixto ceviche was fresh, quality seafood and even better flavor. Really authentic food. The calamari was ok, needed more flavor than more salt. The tamarind pisco passion was so good! They don't skimp on the alcohol here. I also ordered the rotisserie chicken with beans and rice and as usual it was juicy and well seasoned. I'll be visiting again soon.

Great food, first of all. Prices are fair for the quantities, and the ceviche is a very large portion, bigger than any ceviche portion I've seen, and it was delicious. The friend brought me said that the chicken is the best thing they are, and it was very good- the skin was very flavourful. If you order three things for two people, you will have leftovers! We had a seat by the window, and it was wonderful. The only thing that could have made it better was air conditioner.

Considering how hard it is find to find a table on a Friday night without having to wait is a god sent. My friends and I started getting the munchies and we needed a place that serves decent food. After looking at a few places, they all said the wait was 30 minutes plus if we didn't have a reservation. Then jackpot, my friend stumble onto Pio Pio 6 and there was no wait needed. When we got there, the restaurant was packed but with enough empty seats so we got seated right away. We ordered their whole pio chicken with sides and there was so much food that it even gave us enough room for take away. As for service, the waiters were friendly and did not hover over us so the whole dining experience was nice. My only suggestion is that I do wish they had a little more light. I felt like I was sitting in the dark. Some candles would have been a nice touch. Though overall, my experience and tummy were satisfied so would I suggest this place. Sure...why not esp if you're in the neighborhood and you're hungry.

We came to celebrate my BF B-Day, a group of 8 people. Fried Squid & Salchipapas for Appetizers. Pitchers of Sangria. A variety of Main dishes to share: Arroz Chaufa, Jalea, Pollo Asado, Lomo Saltado. So much food, delicious. We ate, drank and were happy. A couple of Tres Leches were shared for dessert. Service was attentive, the ambiance great.

A whole lot of delicious food for the money. The base chicken is a treat to enjoy, slathering on some of the Piri Piri sauce makes it other worldly. The service is always quick and very attentive. Either dining in along with doing take out or delivery is great. Totally recommend this spot.

This used to be a great place to go for rotisserie chicken, but I visited the Pio Pio 6 location on Amsterdam recently, and my experience was not very good. I ordered the half chicken with rice and beans. While the rice and beans were good, the chicken was served cool rather than hot. I picked at it but didn't eat much of it. It was also unusual that the chicken came out on a plate by itself, while the rice and beans were served separately. Perhaps it was because it was a large piece, but who knows? Additionally, the server didn't check on me, and I had to wave at him a few times to get his attention. I will most likely look for a better place next time.

The portions were huge and the flavor was spot on. I loved their green sauce and their chicken was super juicy. We also got the limo Saltado and this was probably my favorite dish. The steak was juicy, the sauce was savory, and the onions were crunchy. Lots of flavors and texture so good.

I've dined here several times over a 15-year period and it's never failed me. Not once! The food is amazing, service impeccable and the ambiance is subtle but warm.

Been coming to Pio Pio for over 20 years, and this location for over 10. While the food is amazing, the prices have become insane. $76 for the matador? Are you kidding? Lets be real- small chicken, some lettuce, rice/beans, and nathans hot dogs? This was $36 when we used to come all the time, sorry but won't be returning to this location again. Hopefully the other locations arent priced this way.

We were staying at the hotel around the corner from this Peruvian restaurant and decided to try it because the reservations at Carmine's weren't available. That was our first mistake. we should have made the rez for this place FIRST AND FOREMOST because it was THAT GOOD. Being of Latin decent ourselvves, we knew going into it that there would be rice and beans, seafood, and sangria. WE LOVE THAT FOOD. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu- it was HUGE portions and plenty of spice and flavor in each dish. There was something for everyone and even my Gringa mother was happy with her choice. (She did only get the empanadas, but the sangria was amazing she said). I had the filet mignon stir fry dish, my BF had the shrimp's dish and my dad and daughter had the quarter chicken with rice and beans. Some had the saffron rice, the other had white. Beans were red and saucy, the meats cooked to perfection, there was even a side of tostones and fried yucca with dipping sauces. I'm drooling now just thinking about this food. Take me back asap. Our waiter Juan was fantastic and attentive, the process were decent for NYC, and the location was perfect in the upper west side. Décor was basic and although its not a white tablecloth place, it had white tablecloths with the paper on top LOL It was super busy at 7pm when we got there, and it stayed busy the whole time we were there. Will absolutely recommend this place and look forward to going again and trying something else. Only took one star off for how loud it was inside. But understand why everyone was yelling, the food is that good :)

Pio Pio is a great spot to bring friends and family to enjoy tasty drinks and delicious food. My SO and I arrived on a weekday afternoon and it was about half-filled so we were able to get a seat pretty easily. We started off with a half pitcher of sangria which was nice and sweet. A great pair for the rest of the food we were to enjoy. We ordered the Limeno ceviche, Juanita's chicken, and some sides. They were pretty big portions and reasonably priced for NYC. They have lots of shareables which makes it a great place to come with larger parties. The service was great. The waiters were always around to help and make sure our dine-in experience was great. The ambiance was not bad. It wasn't anything special especially in comparison to the Pio Pio more south of this here which is much nicer looking. But this place gets the job done and will always be a great go-to when in the area.

I've gotten take out from the Pio Pio in Hell's Kitchen a lot (they used to be on my way home from work) and my parents love their green sauce. So when my friends told me one was close to them as well and we wanted to do a lazy delivery night we had to get half a quart of green sauce. I'm so weak when it comes to spicy, and their green sauce has a little bit of kick to it, but it's so worth it, and I say that as someone who couldn't be weaker when it comes to spicy. We also ordered their rice pilaf which is always a hit. It's so juicy and salty.

Came here for a Friday dinner, and it was great. The empanadas were perfectly crispy without being oily, and the filling and sauces were flavorful. The chicken was tender and juicy. The complimentary green sauce is as good as everyone says. Drinks are good too.

I came on a Friday night and it was unsurprisingly busy, but the servers kept things moving and kindly seated me after 10 minutes even though my friend was still on her way. We ordered a whole rotisserie chicken with sides of saffron rice and beans, maduros (fried plantains, soft and not crispy like tostones), and avocado slices; we were initially eying the Matador combo but figured it was too much food. The food came quickly and, well, it was still too much food - we definitely could have filled up on just half a chicken and our sides. The chicken was quite big and came quartered, and we each made a meal out of just a quarter. It was so succulent, the skin was seasoned well, and the meat paired wonderfully with the green spicy sauce on every table. I had previously been to the Hell's Kitchen location but found the chicken here even better. The maduros were the standout side, so toasty and sweet (like roasted marshmallows but more appropriate for a dinner table). The rice and beans and avocado (served with a lemony oil) were just as expected, but still helped to round out the meal. My friend and I cleared out the sides but ended up each taking a quarter chicken home, which I am very excited to make soup with. The prices are super reasonable considering that we overordered, and service was great throughout. This is a fun place to come with others and share a table full of chicken and sides - the chicken is super approachable for people of any palate, but the Peruvian sides and appetizers can give the meal a great twist that will satisfy anyone. It's like Thanksgiving every day here but with some Latin American flair!

My family and I frequent Pio Pio 6 a lot over the years. I loooooove their chicken. It's so flavor and juicy. We usually get seated right away and the servers move with such ease and quickly. It's also family friendly which is great because we have kids. So I never feel uncomfortable to dine with the family when we go there. It's a lovely restaurant where everyone is chatting away while eating there's no loud music playing so you don't have to strain to hear. At this visit we got Chaufa which I love just wish they had soy sauce to top the rice with. The salchipapas are a classic and there steak in the lomo saltado is always flavorful and tender.

I have been going to Pio Pio (the franchise overall) for a few years now - mostly the one on Northern Boulevard. I came to this one because a group of 10 of us were in the city for a comedy show. Overall, the food is great . We ordered the typical lomo Saltado and their signature rotisserie chicken. The coffee was also excellent. Where this location really lacks is customer service. The waiters don't seem to care and we were neglected quite a few times. I'm hoping this is a one time occurrence because the other locations usually never had this issue.

Excellent food and and service! I sat at the bar and the bartender Fernan was super nice and made a good White Sangria. They take good care of their guests! Definitely check this place out! Another plus was I literally waited less than 5 minutes for my food! Talk about fast, quick, and friendly service! Make sure you have their green sauce!! Peruvian food whenever I go into Manhattan is a must!!

Amazing Food! Ordered online after a long day of work. Great service as I ordered online and told that my order would arrive at 7:30pm and my order was delivered at 7pm. I ordered the Camarones Cuzco which absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh including the shrimp and the delicious salsa criolla. I wanted to give the Tres Leches a try and was so happy I did. The best Tres Leches I ever had!!!!

This was great. Really good empanadas, the shrimp dish that everybody posts is excellent, and the arroz mariscos was also really enjoyable. I'm not huge on roast chicken but this was a really good one. Our kids loved the french fries and avocado slices.

Rather in Queens or the City Pio Pio has always been consistent across the board. The food always taste the same, which I love because not all restaurants have consistency. I've never experienced Pio Pio on a "off day" & hopefully I won't lol. This location is no different. The service was good as well as the food.

I always love ordering from Pio Pio because I really enjoy eating Peruvian food. I have never dine-in so I am glad I was able to do that. Parking is difficult to find so allow yourself time for that. There is no outdoor seating area but the decor inside is pretty basic and clean. The restaurant is very spacious as well. The wait staff was professional and took our order in a timely matter. I think I will definitely come back again because I had a great time here.

The salchipapas don't have much meat and the chaufa used to be better. The restaurant needs to stop putting in old, dry chicken pieces. We thought it may have been a mistake the first time but it happened again and is very disappointing.

Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't crowded on a Saturday night so that was 1 good thing. Another was that there's a family style option dish & the individual dishes are portioned nicely. The down side for me is that the food lacks spices/herbs, there's no added flavor to anything, except maybe the empanadas. The chicken used in the fried rice is breast & it's cut real big so it's dry. The french fries that come w the hot dogs (Salchipapa) aren't cooked through. The sweet plantains were really good, better than the tostones.

I haven't been to pio pio in a while. It was nice to come to this location. As always the food was delicious. For starters I got the chicken empanadas it came with a tomato sauce. I also used the green sauce it was bomb. Then I got a half chicken with saffron rice and beans. The green sauce on the chicken was delicious too. Staff was great and attentive and for a Tuesday the place was pretty busy. People were coming in and out ready for all the delicious Peruvian food. I'll be back but I definitely need to try the fried rice I've never had it before.

I eat here frequently and I did take out yesterday. If I were eating in I would have sent back Salad - browning avocado, soggy tomato's, and soft cucumbers.Terrible 2) Over cooked tostones, hard as a rock - went into the trash. Beans - Tasted like canned. Rice - Yucky sticky Chicken - Great Fries-Good Sausage- Good Too Bad....now I can never go back

Pio Pios was one of my favorite places to visit after a long workday with some coworkers. They have food that is shareable and delicious. And they also have yummy drinks. The seafood and roasted chicken are just to die for! I usually visit the location in the Bronx but I had some friends in from out of town who were staying right on 96th and Broadway. I was pleasantly surprised when I remembered that the Pio Pio was just one avenue away. I suggested to my friends we try this for dinner and it was a hit. We ordered the seafood Jalea, Salchi papas and a whole roasted chicken. The seafood is the best when it's drenched in lemon juice and the delicious onions they put on top. I personally like ordering Yuka fries on the side. The roasted chicken is the best I've had, it is so juicy and flavorful. When I come here typically I eat my meal and order a roasted chicken to go.

Really a great place. Went there on a date and it was a great location for that as the chicken and sangria were great, prompt and friendly wait staff and it has a very relaxing ambiance. Will definitely head back again.

Excellent service and cuisine. My husband and I are usually vegetarian but we indulged and had the half chicken meal, so generous with a super-tasty side of saffron rice and beans. Wed also enjoyed a very generous and fresh avocado salad, with a heavenly dressing(served in a separate dressing decanter , thank you). The chicken soup with fresh veggies in a clear broth was perfect for this cold blustery winter day. The perfect ending: fabulous quality coffee served with hot milk.

Calamari was clearly bad as it smelled Horrible. Do not order or go here! This is a major health risk.

Mic Drop, hands down! The BEST tasting roasted chicken (Juanita) EVER with a jalapeño think dipping sauce is OMG & the sangria is a MUST HAVE.

Wow! I used to come here in my teenage days. I recently thought about them and decided to go. And I was not disappointed! First of all they need to sell the green sauce in stores because yum! It goes with everything! Everything was delicious, but the tres leche was a let down. it was still good, but not wow factor Like my entree was.

The service was great. They were helpful in recommending wines and food. The food and drinks came out quick. The food was great. Worth the prices. I will be back. Overall the restaurant is fairly big. Tables not too close. Good experience.

Birthday dinner was not successful. The food here is not good. The service is pretty slow. The sangria was weak and the cocktails were not good either. I will not come again and I would recommend you to look somewhere else to go eat. Food was not good. It arrived cold to the table and it did not have any flavor. My dad actually felt sick immediately after he left. He had the ceviche . Lastly they don't even offer a free birthday cake you have to buy a dessert for the birthday girl even through we were spending $600+ on dinner and drinks. Bottom line .. pass on this location .

I always wanted to try the lomo saltado, as it's one of my favorite dishes and decided on Pio Pio, since I never tried it from there. Portion was decent by the looks of it, but how disappointing. The lomo was a potatoe lomo with 5 pieces of unflavored dried beef with potatoes galore and some discolored tomatoes and onions. No flavorrrrrrrrrrr! Also, ordered maduros. They were sweet but greasy. We ate a few pieces and threw out the rest with the potatoe lomo saltado. NOT impressed. I'm shocked since the place was packed but that doesn't tell me much these days because some people don't know nothing about flavor....they got my money once, never again! No Pio Pio for us no more.

Two words: MATADOR COMBO. I was introduced to Pio Pio many years ago, and first dined at the Jackson Heights location back when there were maybe only two locations total. However, the Upper West Side has become my most-frequented. During my first-ever Pio Pio experience, my friend ordered for us. My eyes widened to take up the entirety of my face after tasting that rotisserie chicken - OMG. That skin. Those seasonings. That tender, juicy texture. DELICIOUS! Since that first visit, I've been to Pio Pio literally countless times. The magic of the meal is in its simplicity: rotisserie chicken, salchipapa, tostones, rice and beans, and avocado salad. And don't get me started on the sauces! Their garlic sauce and Aji Verde (spicy green sauce)... omg. I could write an entire separate review on those alone. I always order extra of both and slather that stuff on eeeevvveeererryyyyytttthhiiiinnngggg! A pitcher of sangria here is a MUST. It's always loaded with generous portions of diced fruit, and the taste is spot on. The food at Pio Pio is consistent, delicious, and priced very reasonably. I've taken many friends here over the years and have even celebrated my birthday here with a larger group. It will always be a nostalgic favorite!

If you have company: Get the matador combo. My husband and I got this once and had leftovers. If you're dining solo - the lunch special is pretty hard to beat. A quarter chicken, salad, a side, and a soda for $12.50. The green sauce is everything.

I came here for a birthday I love that it was family style servings. We ordered a couple of things and we were all pretty full. The sangria was yummy but not the best I tasted this was much sweeter than the usual. Appetizers were delicious but we had to place another order of chips as the one we order only brought 7 chips. The Calamari was very good as well. We ordered chicken and shrimp rice all of the food was good. The ambience was also pretty chilled and great for families I would definitely recommend the place and come back. We also walk in on a weekend with no reservation and we were seated after 20 minutes so not bad at all they have a bar where you can wait or otherwise I would recommend to call for reservation as they don't take same day reservation call a day before.

Food, drinks, service, and dessert were absolutely incredible. We shared an amazing family dinner here tonight and could not have been more pleased. The chicken is unlike anything I've ever eaten. The maduros were top notch. Absolutely loved it.

I've just stopped by here for lunch. The inside of the restaurant was clean and comfortable. The meal was well-prepared and really delicious. What I was impressed the most was that the staff were all nice and attentive!!!
