Houston's Restaurant & Bar Openings 2024

"This casual restaurant in Spring Branch offers just as much outdoor seating as indoor and a Tex-Mex menu of tacos, fajitas, and breakfast quesadillas. It’s where you can just as easily sip on a frozen espresso martini in a floating hammock chair or get grab-and-go takeout. Plus, there’s a sign with a cute monkey cartoon on it. Nice patio dining. The Mexican 🌮🌯 food restaurant has not been here too long. The beef tacos were really good? The service was great and the associate was super friendly. The restaurant looked clean and organized. The family has returned for quesadillas twice since we first discovered it. If you want it then you had better enjoy it while you can because I have been told that the restaurant it converting to a hamburger cafe real soon.

Google
Highly recommend Piper’s Cantina in Houston! Love there’s a drive-thru makes stopping for breakfast tacos that much easier. Once the weather warms up I’ll be back on the cute patio. My daughter enjoyed the awesome playground (which is rare to find) entertainment for the little ones without going to a fast food joint play area. I recommend the beef quesadilla with an extra green sauce DELICIOUS! Check it out show them some love.🌮

The restaurant features a drive-through and a patio area so it’s basically take away. It’s neither brilliant nor is it horrible. It’s just average there too. Many restaurants in the city are settle for average but on upside plentiful parking great location really nicely done. Patio service is good. In the end above average service average food. No vegan options whatsoever. Flexitarian friend enjoyed the chicken Taco . Asked would she come back she shrugged. My thoughts exactly.

I stopped by for a breakfast taco and the staff treated me with kindness. They made a few suggestions and my food was prepared in a timely manner. I could tell the tortilla was homemade, and the taco itself was delicious. I'll definitely be back to try more things on the menu.

Google
Piper’s has solid food at good prices. To me it is much more a place to come hang out and have some drinks. It’s so worth taking the kids here. The staff is so kind. They have a playground, which is rare in these areas. The kids plate is a good deal and a lot of food. The tacos are good too. However, the atmosphere is great for kids.

Google
10/10 would recommend. The food was a little pricey, and it took a while to get food because there was only one person working. The food was absolutely delicious. The reason we will be going back was the atmosphere. It was a gorgeous night and we sat for hours in the hammock chairs. Our kids played on the playground and watched the trains go by. It was an incredibly relaxing evening out which is hard to achieve with 4 kids.

Came out to try Piper ‘s Cantina and here’s what I thought. This place is really good, don’t be fooled by any other meat that’s passed of as fajitas. This place has skirt steak fajitas! Homemade tortillas made fresh to order, flour or corn. Margaritas are fantastic and made with tequila, no wine based margs here. Can’t go wrong with great aesthetics if you’re looking to post pics to the FB, Instagram or any other social media platform. Even better, you can stop by for breakfast and either walk up or go through the drive thru! And if you have time? Feel free to sit outside in one of the swings or step inside and watch the kitchen at work!! I know PHG will do great with this just like they did/do with the others! Can’t wait to go back.

Yelp
Great ambiance, would recommend trying! Pretty sure the tortillas are handmade as well and the lunch deal is pretty good.

Yelp
We ordered through DoorDash and the food was just underwhelming. Queso is bland and one dimensional, birria jús was thin and low flavor, beef in the taco was super salty, the tortilla chips were oddly dense and just felt like cheap store bought. I can't speak for the restaurant itself and the ambience may be killer, but with so many other great Tex-mex options in the area, I don't see myself returning.

Yelp
One of our administrative assistant staff told me about this Tex Mex place nearby us, so I thought I'd check it out with my admin assistant for lunch. It was a beautiful day out. Piper's Cantina is part of the Piper's Hospitality group which is also known for Preslee's and Woodland Social. You park and order and eat there on their maybe patio or take it to-go. I think there was a drive thru, but we dined there. It's family friendly and has a small playground among the patio swings. There was a small family enjoying the playground area. There's an abundance of seating options reminiscent of Preslee's. Order your food and drinks at the window. The $11.95 lunch special is a good deal with 3 corn tacos, rice, beans and a drink. You can upgrade your drink for an agua fresca. Tried the pineapple, but it was a little too sweet, so I opted for the hibiscus. I also ordered an addition of fries, naturally. The fajita tacos were great. The flavor of the fajitas tasted like grilled steak. The orange and green salsa were nice and spicy. The refried beans are full of flavor, but the rice was not. Dona Lena's rice tastes better, imo. The fries were served hot and crispy and was lightly breaded. I would come back to try their breakfast tacos since they're open at 6:30 am and their burgers.

Yelp
Poor to say the least. The food and atmosphere was brutal. Clearly the staff was given no assistance from poor management. As authentic as an Olive Garden.

Yelp
This place was included in my Lunch Drop options at work. I ordered Al Pastor quesadillas with charro beans and rice. To be very honest nothing tasted like anything! No flavor. I didn't even eat it. The charros beans were to thick with no flavor and the al pastor also had no flavor. Wasn't even red like most Al pastor is. Kinda looked like chicken.

Yelp
I have been waiting for this place to open for three years now. Since Smokey Cheeks closed down. They finally posted that they're opening! I went the first day Got quesodillas(not pictured) for the kids. Kids loved them. I tried them. They were excellent. Fajita taco. Maybe the best I have had. Absolutely ZERO gristle, Zero silver Skin, Zero chewy fat, how most places cheap out. The fajitas were huge juicy chunks. Full of flavor. Perfectly cooked. Perfectly seasoned. By far my favorite. So good that I ordered one initially, ate it in the truck, drove through the drive through and ordered two more. Best fajita taco I have ever had Al pastor was excellent as well. The pineapple is optional but I like it Chicken Tinga was like a stewed chicken in red sauce. Excellent. All had onions and cilantro. Flour tortillas are perfect. Made on site for sure. Rice was excellent. Kids loved it too Refried beans were good. Had a nice garlic flavor to them Red sauce was spicy in a good way Green sauce a bit more mild Did I mention the tacos were only $3.25 each!?!?! Great price this close to town. Cucumber Agua Fresca was delicious. Not too sweet like others do Will be returning for sure! Happy they finally opened up

Yelp
Good chicken quesadillas. Window service friendly. Great prices! Patio is cute. Smaller tables a little short for taller people but there is hi-tops.

Yelp
I feel like folks haven't been able to find this place yet, but it is by far the best taco spot in the area. Tried a variety of tacos and all of them were excellent, Al Pastor was probably my favorite. They have a convenient drive thru and the friendliest staff. It's a similar set up to The Taco Stand but I feel like the flavors as well as the ambiance are levels better. Please give this spot a try, I hope more folks find it because I want it to stay.

Yelp
We live close and eat here at least a couple times a week. Their queso is phenomenal, my wife and step daughter could live off the quesadillas, and I like the fajitas more than most places around. That be in my said, I REALLY wish they'd step up their breakfast game - it very limited and I honestly think more people would go if they offered the fajitas and queso in the mornings as well.

Yelp
What an awesome place to bring the kids and sit outside. They have tons of swinging chairs, hammocks, tables and an adorable little play scape. The ambience is on point with the lighting, music and greenery. The kids and I loved the fajita tacos and quesadillas. Such a cute spot. Brand new to the neighborhood and undiscovered. I hope more people find it because this place should be packed!

Yelp
Great place for the family and the furry ones. Decent prices and yummy food and drinks.
