Hip spot with outdoor tables, a la carte & kids' menus plus shareable mains like chicken.
"Nestled in a Bermondsey park, Pique-Nique is date night ready. Everything from the fairy light-strewn conservatory which wraps around the building, to the exposed wooden beams and twinkly candles, to the charming service, creates a place primed for wooing. Even the hearty French mains like glistening, juicy roast chicken or tender chateaubriand are “to share for two”. It’s ideal for a low-key anniversary meal when you still want to wear your comfy jeans, or, just take yourself out for some good bistro-style food and a glass of pinot noir—they’ll adapt most of the mains for one." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna
"Nestled in Tanner Street Park, Pique-Nique is date night ready. Everything from the fairy light-strewn conservatory which wraps around the building, to the exposed wooden beams and twinkly candles, to the charming service, creates a place primed for wooing. Even the hearty French mains like glistening, juicy roast chicken or tender sirloin are “to share for two”. There’s no stuffiness though, so it’s ideal for a low-key anniversary meal when you still want to wear your comfy jeans. "A sort of mock-Tudor Tardis plonked in the middle of a park, Pique-Nique may rank in the top 10 of London’s weirdest-looking restaurants, but it’s also one of its finest purveyors of French food. There’s an a la carte menu (written entirely en Français), but go for the multi-course menu autour du poulet de Bresse, which makes excellent use of everything but the bird’s beak. Over the road, big brother Casse-Crôute remains a masterclass in Gallic charm, with tables straight out of Lady and the Tramp, and a menu rich in mustard and cream." - Emma Hughes, James Hansen

"Despite the fact that the name of this place reminds us of all the times we were trying to up-sell depressing picnics during the pandemic, we are willing to let that go in the face of good chicken. A Provence-feel French restaurant in Bermondsey’s Tanner Street Park, this place never skimps on the butter and importantly, there’s always rotisserie chicken on their menu. Although prices can be steep, it’s worth it for a proper sit down meal where you can glug herb juice and steadily make your way through crispy new potatoes and a whole corn-fed chicken. Viva la poulet revolución." - heidi lauth beasley
