London’s New Restaurant Openings

"This big budget, party spot in St. James’s looks like the kind of place that has a line of sparkler-holding servers parading around every time someone orders expensive Champagne. There are smoke-filled caviar briefcases, a live DJ, and a menu of Nikkei (Peruvian and Japanese hybrid) dishes, like fried sea bass tacos and king crab gunkan." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

This restaurant is a perfect blend of exquisite food, impeccable service, and a beautiful setting. Our experience here was nothing short of brilliant. The restaurant itself is stunning—elegant, modern, and buzzing with a warm, sophisticated energy. The vibes and music was great.

My friend booked a table for us here on a Wednesday night. We were received and treated very well throughout our stay, from the security entrance and reception - where we met the lovely team (Louis, Claudio and Sara) - to the waiter Giuseppe who gave us a luxury treatment. The food was amazing, with the start of the night being the Black Cod, and the white chocolate cheesecake. This was our first time here and we’ll definitely be returning soon.

I would rate this a 2.5, but the food was genuinely good and the venue undeniably gorgeous, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired even before we had arrived. When I called ahead to ask about the dress code for teens, the receptionist was unnecessarily rude and condescending. She actually scoffed at the question like it was beneath her. Her tone and attitude made it clear she was trying to project exclusivity, but it was just pretentious and off-putting. We only kept the booking because we had a cousin visiting from abroad. At the restaurant, there was a strong push to get us out quickly - likely due to the LO age and the club element. Food and drink came out fast (not a bad thing), but plates were cleared immediately, leaving no time to relax or enjoy the atmosphere. Then, without any warning, the staff jumped onto the tables dancing and shouting - it was confusing, but it did add a touch of fun. What wasn’t fun was the surprise 'entertainment' charge added to our bill with no explanation until we questioned it. Given that we were being rushed out due to the age restriction, it's unacceptable to be charged for something we weren't told about, didn't ask for, and couldn't even stay to watch. Pirana wants to position itself as a high-end, exclusive spot, but the snobbish attitude, rushed service, and unexpected charges make it feel more like a performance than a premium experience. It's not a place we'd hurry back to, plenty other great venues offer excellent food and atmosphere without the pretentiousness.

Food, 2/10. Vibes, 10/10. Rice was undercooked and for £25 for rolls.. I would’ve expected better quality. You’re paying for the entertainment really. We sat down and no one had given us menus, even a drink menu would’ve been fine to start - we had to ask and waited for about 20 mins each time for our drinks. However I can’t fault our waiter, he was friendly, smiley and good vibes. You don’t pay for what you get but it’s more of an experience. Not sure if I’d necessarily go back as I feel like money can be better spent elsewhere. It’s a shame because I was happy to pay but I feel like the quality of food needs to be better.

Incredibly delicious and full of atmosphere! The food is outstanding, and the service is top-notch. The vibe is just right — you’re guaranteed to leave in a great mood. Truly one of the best spots in London. You have to experience it for yourself. Thank you, PIRANA! 🫶🏼

I had some concerns reading the bad reviews, but my experience was 10/10 from start to finish. I arrived late, but my friend who arrived on time was seated at a table next to the bar. Upon arrival we were taken to our table immediately. The waiter was excellent and very polite. We ordered sushi, ceviche, tacos, shrimp and chicken skewers - all excellent. The Seabream ceviche the best I’ve had, and dragon roll sushi also fantastic. Food arrived very quickly, and all together which was nice. We were pretty full but ordered dessert anyway to reach our minimum spend. Dessert was beautifully presented with gold leaves. This restaurant very much belongs in Dubai or LA. Ambience and vibrant. If I’m being super fussy, I’d say the music was a little too loud as tricky to have a conversation easily. Our bill came to £260 for 2 people without alcohol plus tips for waiter were on top of this. It’s pricey for sure but it’s once in a while occasional place imho.

Recently went to the Tuna Night - what an experience! The impressive 120kg+ tuna is displayed and cut in front of you by the head chef. You’re then served a beautiful menu of tuna dishes from sushi style to tuna steaks and skewers. A really intimate evening with great food, cocktails and attentive service that Pirana is known for. Would highly recommend!
