Jake’s Dilemma in Upper West Side Under Fire For Not Serving Man Wearing MAGA Hat | Eater NY

"At Pirosmani in Sheepshead Bay I enjoyed baseball-sized khinkali with thick, memory-foam-squishy skin filled with a deeply savory mix of beef, pork shoulder, garlic, onion, Georgian red pepper and fresh cilantro; new owner Manuchar Katchakhidze has been adding menu items, and I also recommend the badrijanis pkhali, the Georgian salad, and the Gouda cheese." - Serena Dai

This restaurant seems to be very popular with locals, as it is always crowded. We went to try the traditional dishes and liked them. We ordered the Khachapuri and the Khinkali, and both were good. The service was just okay, perhaps due to how busy it was. Because it's always full, it's one of those places where you might need to wait for a table, but it's a good option for those looking for typical Georgian food. They accept card payments.

We arrived at the restaurant full of anticipation but left very disappointed. We ordered a hamburger that arrived dry and very burnt, the meat platter was dry and tasteless. On the other hand, the beef soup was very tasty, the Mexican-style fries were excellent, and the grilled chicken was also good. What was most annoying was that the hamburger arrived completely burnt and the manager explained that this was how they "serve it."

The food is very delicious, if you are in batumi you must try it. You can try their soups and their hot dishes are very tasty. My favorite is Chashushuli . Exceptional service from the stuff they are professional, friendly and warm and they do care. Usually is very busy after 7 pm with a long queue so better you make a reservation. The design of the restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is great 👌

We visited one of the most authentic Georgian cuisine restaurants in Batumi. They make the best khinkali in the city—authentic, flavorful, and melting in your mouth. If you’re looking to try true Georgian khinkali, I highly recommend this place. However, I’m not giving it 5 stars because the service was beyond horrible. We waited for the waiters for what felt like hours. We had to repeat our order multiple times, call the waiter, and even call the manager. The service was extremely slow and laid-back, which is not acceptable in any restaurant, in my opinion. They seriously need to work on improving their service—if they do, I’d gladly give them 5 stars. But if you don’t have patience or expect efficient and attentive service, this may not be the place for you.

The food was very tasty — we tried Madam Bovary, Adjaruli, and Kharcho, all were delicious (9/10). The location is also nice (9/10). However, there were a lot of gnats/midges that kept biting, which was uncomfortable. And the service from the waiter named Ruslan was disappointing (1/10). He just dropped the food on the table and left without a word, even pushed past a guest, and overall gave an unpleasant impression. Great food, but the service really needs improvement.

What a fantastic dining experience at Pirosmani Batumi! The food was absolutely delicious — rich, authentic Georgian flavors that truly felt homemade. Every dish we tried was bursting with taste, and it’s clear they take great pride in preserving traditional recipes. The atmosphere was lively and very local. We were the only foreigners in the restaurant, which made the experience feel even more genuine. Despite how huge the place was, it was packed and buzzing with energy — a clear sign of its popularity among locals. The service was excellent. The staff were warm, attentive, and friendly. What stood out most was seeing the owner herself on the floor, personally helping and making sure everything ran smoothly. That kind of hands-on hospitality is rare and truly appreciated. If you’re in Batumi and want a real taste of Georgian cuisine in an authentic setting, Pirosmani Batumi is a must-visit. Highly recommended — I’d gladly come back!
