Let’s start off with the good: delicious thin crust pizza! We ordered a large pepperoni takeout and asked for it well done. There was a decent amount of pepperoni which made it’s a bit greasy, but we don’t mind :) The pizza was also topped a bit with Italian seasonings which enhanced the flavor. Now onto the bad: The ambiance inside was a bit off though. The place was completely empty, but likely due to the day we visited. There was a very odd smell inside, which I could not identify. Seems like there should be better ventilation and perhaps a deep cleaning. There was random boxes and stuff scattered around and not very welcoming. They have beer on tap and lots of hard liquor. Also, the cost of the large was a bit high, compared to other local pizzerias. Would return if there was a deal, or better pricing.

Google
Good solid pizza with a delicious crust. Make sure to ask for "light crust" because they have a tendency to burn it underneath (they were cool about it when we returned it and the replacement pie was good). We got two large pizzas with mushrooms and garlic and they were excellent. Agreed with the other reviewers that their dining room looks abandoned and that's likely because they no longer get as much dine-in business as years before, plus parking is super difficult. Service was very good.

Google
Don’t get tricked by the name, their pizza doesn’t taste like Sicilian pizza or any Italian pizza I’ve had before. We ordered two pizzas, both were distasteful; no tomato sauce and very light cheese, soggy crust. It definitely didn’t smell like fresh dough or simmering tomato sauce when we walked into the restaurant. There is a strong odor when you enter the restaurant, messy tables and scattered things around the counter. The owner was friendly, talks loud and was helpful; I wish the food was better.

The manager is real funny and service minded. + Making delicious pizza’s 👌Perfect first stop on our trip.

Google
At first, I was a bit skeptical and sadly, the clam chowder tasted burnt which was part of the lasagna dinner plate. They immediately replaced it with minestrone and that alone was great. They served a modest salad. The lasagna had beautiful mild tastes with great kicks of basil throughout. Then, coffee and dessert! All for about $15 with tax! My friend ordered a special pizza with ham, sausage and pepperoni which tasted amazing! We ordered a side of buffalo wings which were great as well. We only finished a third of the lasagna, the wings, the soup, salad, and 2 slices of pizza and barely ate half the ice cream. All for $25! I honestly was gonna blast this place because of the burnt clam chowder but after the great immediate service and incredible food, I had to give mad props to this place.

Google
Eeeeew. This place is still open. It’s been around since early 80s if not longer. Gross. Do not go here.

Google
Had great pizza and even better conversation with the owner. She unlocked the doors and served us gladly. They were out of "Butt light" and referring to Iowa as the potatoe state but only made the experience all that much more fun! Would go back!

Neat, old-fashioned, cozy family run restaurant.

Yelp
It's ok place. Only one waitress, who was also chef. Pizza wasn't good, didn't seem cooked. Smelled like mothballs. Seems like it was the go-to team sports place in early 2000 & the set up is great for that, but unfortuately the quality leave much to be desired. Gave two stars b/c chef/waitress/owner(?) tried to be accommodating.

Yelp
This place is never open, The only time I saw it open I went in the owner told me to go to 7-11 she didn't want to turn the oven on. . I wish they would close and sell to someone else who wants to actually run the business

Yelp
Thought I try something else and was very disappointed. Ordered over Grubhub and had to refund me for the following reasons: 1. Ordered a medium size pizza and they put in a box too small to where the sides of the box were opened. 2. The food was cold. 3. There was no flavor and there was sand in the pizza. 4. The in house delivery left my pizza on the trash bin outside. It was accessible for mice and homeless. If my housemates saw the pizza on the trash bin, they would have easily trashed it since it would draw in more mice and raccoons. I thought the pepper on top was nice poop at first! Pizza doesn't look appealing.

Yelp
Terrible Pizza extremely rude owner, place doesn't look clean at all! Worst pizza in the sunset, do not recommend at all

Yelp
The food here hasn't been good since like 2000, back when it used to be THE place for YMCA end of season soccer parties. My mom and I went there again like four years ago for her birthday because she used to love it but we both got food poisoning. It was a Saturday around noon and only one lady was working (I believe the owner). We were there for TWO HOURS and the phone didn't ring once, nor did any other customers walk in. It was dirty and stacked with boxes and clutter all over. It has to be a front to have stayed open this long. Or they own the building. But who knows!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. It was awful. Blandest crust I've ever tasted in my life. It's like they completely forgot to use any salt in the dough. Save your money and just eat the cardboard box from your most recent Amazon delivery. It'll probably taste better than this pizza.

Yelp
This was the place of my childhood. When you entered the place you'd be met by the loud hustle and bustle of happy families enjoying dinner! The kids would be watching pizza being made in the front and you could even get a handful of pizza dough to play with! That was THE BEST! The wait for a table would be long and there were times we even avoided the place because it was so crowded. I've had so many fond memories playing with my friends here after a game or for birthday parties! I came in today and was quickly heartbroken at how it looks now. The place is falling apart. It was completely empty. There were holes in the ceiling and junk in the back. The oven was off and it just looked so lonely in there, the magic of the 80s and 90s gone. Only a mere shell left. The lady who ran the place was quite warm and friendly though! She treated us like we were guests at her house. She was the only one there. But because she was the only one there (and another party had arrived) our food took forever. And when it came it was completely burnt underneath. This made me soooo disappointed. The nice lady offered to take 10% off our bill. But we were only able to eat half of the pizza. I literally SCRAPED the toppings off the crust. I normally wouldn't even eat it but I'm SUPER pregnant and I was sooo hungry! I just have to leave my beautiful memories of this place in the past.

Yelp
1.10 hours to get a pizza. Shocking. Completely unprepared. Don't know how they survive.

Yelp
Stopped by Pirro's for a quick bite after a long day. Good ambiance and decor in the place, kind of reminds me of pizza parlors from when I was a kid (all it needs is a video arcade with Gauntlet and Rampage to be a Shakey's from 1987). Easy parking. They have Fat Tire, Beck's, Carlsberg, Heineken, Bud, Fosters and Sierra Nevada On tap, and you can get glasses or two sizes of pitchers. Average prices on the beer. The garlic bread with mozzarella was good, if a little greasy. Pizza took a while, and was really greasy. REALLY greasy. The flavor wasn't bad, but it needed to have a few thorough pat downs with several napkins to get it to a decent place. We had the Star Fleet (??) which had ham, pepperoni and sausage. The crust was thin, but the best part of the pie. Overall, a bit too greasy and expensive for my tastes. Large pizza + soda + garlic bread came to $32 and some change.

Yelp
I've never seen such awful reviews before and had I checked sooner I probably would have dodged this place but least I can add to the sentiment having experienced it myself. Yes, it's a long wait. I placed a to go order (large mixed pizza, 1/2 quart spaghetti 1/2 quart spinach ravioli, tossed salad, and garlic bread) and instead of waiting the proposed 30 minutes it took an hour. Yes, it was overpriced for the quality. The pizza looked good but tasted bland. The tossed salad was a handful of poorly cut lettuce, along with matching pieces of tomato, and a ton of olives. The garlic break was extremely burnt and hard/broke to eat. The spaghetti was soggy and tasted like aluminum. The ravioli was the best part and tasted better than it looked. Our total was $50. Way too much. The lady working there was nice and appeared to be trying her best to rush the order. I don't understand how the place can handle a busy night when just one customer took an hour. Overall, I won't be back and I won't recommend trying this place out. I give this 2 stars instead of 1 because like I said, the lady was nice to me and the venue itself looked pretty decent. Place just has a long way to go to start satisfying customers.

Yelp
I used to love this place. I grew up having this pizza as my treat on special days. I up until last month would still order pizzas from here occasionally as a treat because it reminded me of my child hood. However. The lady that runs the place ruined my experience. And I will never return. It's not like I'm missing out much as the quality has dropped so much that it's not even good anymore. But I would still order via nostalgia and eat the food. Never again. And I will never recommend this place anymore. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. Somewhere that they actually care about the customer.

Yelp
If gross and low-quality had a baby, I think this would be it and if I could give -5 stars I would but DARN I am forced to give a 1-star! Anyway, I walked in to a lady sitting at a table calculating the many receipts and papers that were scattered across. I got an expensive ($4.50) slice of sausage pizza here and my friend got a vegetarian slice ($4.50 also). I say expensive because aside from the awful taste (my tongue!!!), old dough (it was a dark grayish color) and skimpy toppings (about five little sausages), it was thin and pretty small in size. I don't even want to imagine how much whole pizzas are and how big (or in this case small) they are. After one bite I hurled it into the trash before I myself would start to hurl. Never say never but I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever (in the words of Taylor Swift) come here again and I recommend that YOU don't either...unless you want low-quality disgusting pizza then feel free to of course! ;) Oh, and there's a $10 minimum if you want to use plastic. I got charged an extra dollar because I was only at $9. Boo! There were no other customers and now I know why but in all honesty, the lady that helped me was nice but the food was BLECK!

Yelp
I'm sad to say I will never return to this place. You'll know why the moment you swing open the door.

Yelp
The best pizza and wine in the neighborhood! Love this place. It's our go to for great pizza! They also have a cute patio in the back of you want to hang out with friends and family.

Yelp
Living in this neighborhood all these years, I remember each year around my birthday I would dream about coming here for pizza. These were years I say I didn't have much of anything. Give me a Costco pizza back then and I would had thought that was the best present ever.. And that's what I knew about food.
google avatar

Yelp
It's OK. There were a bunch of loud obnoxious men who were screaming when they weren't even funny blabbering about sports as if it were worth talking about. Pizza was good. Beer pretty good. Giant pitcher for $7.25. And I mean a BIG pitcher. They have a TV but it isn't elevated and it is small so unless you sit by the entrance, you can't watch it. Service fast; reliable. Pizza pretty good; slightly burnt but not bad.
google avatar

Yelp
Big success on your pizza today for my daughter 4yr old birthday party. Thank You Pirro's

Yelp
One of the best places I've ever stopped in to! I'm pretty sure the owner was our server, chef, host, cashier... Well you get it.. All of the above! Amazing. I can't understand why this place didn't have a line out the door. We ordered a cheese pizza and a pitcher of beer for three people and still were treated like royalty. Wouldn't pick anywhere else on the block!!!!

Yelp
Oh, this place used to be soooo good back in the day. I worked here in the 80's during high school, and i remember how the pizza was - what it tasted like, how it was made, etc.. Regrettably, the philosophy of how to make a pizza has changed far for the worse - as these reviews reflect. In essence, I find the flavors roughly the same - the major difference is that they no longer put any *stuff* on the pizza anymore! When I made it, it was a true pie, it was hearty, it had weight and mass - I'd say now they are putting less than half of the amount of well-balanced ingredients we used to put on them. I think this place could change its image slowly for the better if it just paid attention to making a more generous pizza for starters. Otherwise, this 40-year sunset institution is probably going bye-bye fairly soon if nothing changes - a business can't survive too long with this kind of online reputation i'd imagine.

Yelp
I have not written a response on here in quite some time but this lady struck a cord with how careless and matter of fact she was. At first the lady was nice enough when I came in. I ordered a med vegetarian pizza and a beer 15 bucks plus a beer no problem. I told her I didn't like olives so SHE SUGGESTED ZUCCHINI. I agreed. Never telling me there was no substitutions on specials and would be a $3 charge for said substitution (also as a caveat I ordered from their taped to go menu on the wall which does not mention there are no substitutions and again she didn't mention this). When I got my bill I was shocked. I tried to explain that if I had ordered a large vegetarian special it would Still be LESS than the increased cost for the substituted one veggie on a medium. (Only 2.50 to go from med to large and 3.00 to add zucchini I place of olives.) She flatly said that's how we do it here. I will fairly say the pizza was fine but the crust was flavorless a little salt or garlic would make the difference. I did get what was suggested and I agreed to buy definitely not 3 bucks worth of Zucchini. But hey I'll never pay for it again and will not go back here even with a coupon.

Yelp
their toppings are great, the pizzas are fresh, they have beer on tap. I've only eaten in the resturant once (i always get take out) but the service was good. With the limited choices in pizza in outer sunset, pirros is definitly my favorite
google avatar

Yelp
I thought the pizza was too greasy and had too much cheese....which is rare for me cus I would eat cheese w/almost anything. I use to put a slic of cheese on my bread and microwave it and eat it. I love cheese, but the pizza here drowns in it. Very greasy. Flavoring is whatevers. I don't want to go back......so I hope my friends don't crave for it for some srange reason.

Yelp
Had the Pirro's Special tonight. I thought it was good. The crust is thinner than North Beach's and seemed thicker than Brother's. Good for its niche. Plenty of toppings. The mini (8") was a good size for one person. I went around 8pm, it was pretty quiet. Just one or two other tables of people there. Retiree gentlemen, I think. The owner(?) woman seemed nice. She was the only one working there at that hour. They had a tv on showing a 20/20 type show. The place was pretty big. There seemed to be seating outside in the back, but I didn't check. I'd seen Pirro's for decades, whenever I pass by on Taraval street. Always wanted to try it, so finally did. It was about what I expected. I would return with some friends, if we were hanging out in the middle stretch of Taraval. Closes at 10pm on Sundays. Minus one star, because the pizza price was around $3 more than was listed on their website.

Yelp
Great Greek salad and delicious olive and mushroom pie . Friendly staff and prompt service! We'd come back !

Yelp
Simply the best pizza in San Francisco...and has been for decades. Word to the wise about San Francisco Restaurant reviews...I'm a third generation native on both sides of my family. When you research the history of a given restaurant and it's like Pirro's - over 30 years old and it gets bad reviews....99% of the time it's from insecure newbees trying to sabotage the established SF restaurants. They take the low road and that's unfortunate..and common...i.e. the lineage and longevity of a restaurant determines its quality...not reviews....happy eating to all.

Matthew K.

Yelp
Sad! Absolutely sad! I walk in this restaurant and it looks like it something that would appear on Gordon Ramsey's show Kitchen Nightmares. Where do I start??? HM! maybe when I asked for a water and she gave me a bottle of arrowhead water AND CHARGED ME $1.50 for it! Not only was I mad about the price, but ARROWHEAD. The nastiest bottled water ever. But after ordering THE STAR FLEET PIZZA, I realized I wasn't on a television show...I was in hell. Hell. This pile of greased was literally dripping and oozing from the za getting all over my new trousers. After eating a slice, I called it quits and pulled the trigger in the bathroom. And no, it was not time to rally after. So once I check out she swiped my card and there was only three options to tip: No tip, 18%, or 25%. And she was HOVERING over me while I decide pressuring me to just click 18% and gtfo of there. Taraval was cool in the 50s, but gawd damn it's over! Go check out gentle cuts for a fresh fade!

Yelp
Been coming here since both my boys attended St Gabriels in the early 90's! One thing for sure the pizza is consistently yummy!! We always order the Pirro's Special which has everything we'd love in a pizza!
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Yes people. I just gave Pirro's 5 stars and I mean every star of it. I was at Pirro's last night for a post baseball championship victory and the experience was damn near perfect for a party of 30. I will start by saying that the 8 X- large pizza's we ordered were all delicious and there weren't any leftovers. Now, acknowledging that not all pizza lovers enjoy the same kind of pizza, not all pizza restaurants will appeal to everyone right? If you are a fan of thinner crust and don't like globs of tart pizza sauce, then you, like me will probably like Pirro's. As far as the overall atmosphere I agree that it can use a facelift. But do I really care? No. If I wanted atomosphere, I sure as hell wouldn't drive out to the 7-11 on 32nd avenue to get it. It was clean, nicely dim and felt kind of old school. I can say with 100% certainty, having grown up 2 blocks away from Pirro's, it has not been updated at all since the 1980's. But seriously, I'm not sure of all the criticism considering that it is in the middle of nowhere. What are people expecting on 32nd and Taraval? Historically, the service at Pirro's has been hit or miss. Last night it was pretty exceptional. We did drop by before the game and talked to the owner. So, she had warning that a team of fired up 6th grade boys were coming for a victory dinner. She actually, started making all the pizza's in advance and began cooking them when we called from the field during the last inning. When we arrived, she lined up all the tables in back for our party, repositioned the big screen TV and was friendly to everyone including a bunch of loud, rowdy tween boys. Maybe she reads her reviews? Not sure, but the service was great. No complaints. Lastly, for the reviewer who felt it necessary to point out the race or ethnicity of the ownership.....really? It says a lot more about you than it does about this pizza place. I'll put money down that you wouldn't do that if the racial background of the owners was one that you might feel intimidated by. And I think that makes you not much better than a bully.

Yelp
I've been going there since I was an infant. My earliest memories are of my dad or my uncle lifting me up to watch them make the pizza. When I moved away from San Francisco I opine about their pizza on a regular basis and is one of four must got to restaurants in The City I have to visit. My personal favorite is extra cheese, black olive, garlic and salami. Please open a second place in Orange County, we need a Pirro's down here!
google avatar

Candy H.

Yelp
ok this gets a 3 (actually about a 3.5) but only for the pesto pizza (with mushroom and sausage) . This used to be a great pick for any pizza and delivery was good. Recently we decided to try picking up the pizza rather than having it delivered... guess what??? Something happens to that pie from the time they make it to the time it gets to your door.. it's terrific if you pick it up! Problem is 99.9% of us normal kind of people here want DELIVERY! And don't want a compromised pie to get it! Oh well - its not our "in a pinch pizza" OR the "oh no! drop by company! lets order pizza" type of place. Sad to say for delivery you are better off with round table (gasp i said it!).
google avatar

Yelp
When I was a kid in the 80's, Pirro's was my favorite. What happened? Ownership change. Pirro's under the current ownership is the worst place to have pizza in SF. The owner (see the lady next to the prom queen) is rude, cheap and has run this business into the ground. The ingredients she uses caused me to have diarrhea on more than one occasion. I have talked with others that have had the same experience. A few years back there was an animal that died between the buildings. She would not take care of it because of the removal cost. Avoid this place!!!

Yelp
Food 2/5 - It's pizza so the baseline is low cause how hard is it to make pizza good? We ordered the Mediterranean. Cardboard crust and uncooked toppings. The pie was left half eaten. Did not take home leftovers. Service 1/5 - We were gettin' hassled to vote for Pirro's on Facebook by the lady who own's the place. Made the evening very uncomfortable. Atmosphere 2/5 - It's homey on the inside, but it was dead quiet when we walked in. Knew immediately that this was not going to go well, but was too much of a chicken to walk back out. Conclusion - Will not be back and do not recommend.

Yelp
I was hoping Eagle Pizza would be open today, but to my major disappointment, they were on vacation...so off to Pirro's (I was hoping they got a bit better after my ONE Star review many years back). NOT...PIRRO'S IS A DISAPPOINTMENT TO PIZZA AND PASTA. I'd recommend Kitchen Impossible from Food Network to do a makeover of this place. (LIKE SERIOUSLY!!!) Gf and I were greeted by an Asian lady who sat us down. She picked up our order quick BUT it took forever for our drinks and food to get to the table. FOOD: Gf ordered the ravioli dinner set (comes with soup, salad, dessert and coffee) and I had a pizza. Gf's salad (was from a package) and soup (from a can and microwaved), but the ravioli..HOLY SMOKES! Undercooked ravioli (it was the size of tortellini) and drizzled with Campbell's pasta sauce (we saw the can as we were leaving). It wasn't just undercooked, only the outside of the pasta was cooked. The inside was terrible! Straight up, it probably came from a package, and I wouldn't even feed my dog this crap! I brought up to the server's attention and we didn't get an apology or anything. Ravioli was replaced with spaghetti which at least this time the pasta was cooked but the sauce was TERRIBLE! It had the metallic canned sauce taste to it. I've been to other pizza places which make excellent sauces, but this was a total fail! Coffee and dessert never came either. My pizza was mediocre, but edible. SERVICE: SUCKS. Server seemed like she didn't want to serve us. She paid more attention to the regulars and the large party that came in as we were finishing up. She paid no attention to our empty beverages until we asked for a refill. Don't even bother for a pizza pickup either. It seemed like people who came in to pick up a pizza had to sit down and wait at the counter too.

Yelp
This is the worst pizza in the city, which is not an easy award to win. The ambiance was uncomfortable, at best. The pizza took forever, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. It tasted similarly to a reheated frozen slice and it was outrageously expensive. The owners' cat that was constantly trying to get in through the back door was very unsettling. Do they let it in after hours? Do they have any idea at all how to run a pizza place? Nope! Also, let it be inarguably clear that "hole in the wall" is not synonymous with "good". Sometimes, the taste of the food is consistent with the taste of the atmosphere. I will absolutely never waste my money here again. Please do not encourage them to continue staying in business.

Yelp
In all honesty, I haven't been here in a while, but my last experience here was so bad that it will be years before I ever go back. I ordered a pizza for pickup and waited in the counter area. The asian girl working the counter knew fully well that I was there and waiting for my order for the longest time. Well, after almost an hour and a half later (I just knew something was wrong), I found out that my pizza had been ready eons ago. WTF. To add insult to injury, I got it home and it tasted terrible because it had been sitting so long. Never again. Too bad since this place used to be pretty good years ago. Like in that movie Pink Panther after Peter Sellers breaks that expensive vase and someone tells him, "sir, that was a priceless antique!"...he replied, "Not anymore!"

Noemi Catalina P.

Yelp
Gadzooks!!! What is up with all these one-stars??? I LOVE Pirros! It's a total hole-in-the-wall which makes the place that much better! The owners are super nice and accommodating. It is a very family friendly atmosphere and the staff is personable. About their pizza: Best crust ever! I love how it's crispy on the outside, but very thick and bready on the inside. Sauce is good and all the toppings are fresh (at least the vegetables are for this vegetarian). This is obviously a place where locals (like myself) venture; definitely not a place for the SFSU brats with a too high sense of entitlement who have zero taste to begin with! They don't appreciate good local eateries.

Yelp
We came in with a group of 30 plus people. THey have an outdoor back patio. We had a couple of dogs with us. The woman in the front said we couldn't take the dogs onto the patio. One was a service dog, she still said no. We asked her to call the owner and make sure it's okay. Again it was an outdoor patio and OUR group were the only people out there, well along with piles of discarded wood and stuff, it wasn't a zen patio or anything, cheap picnic table and a lot of crap laying around. She said she wouldn't because she was TOO BUSY...now again WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE PLACE. She was just rude... Also...they were out of most of the tap beer. The food pizza was okay, but lets face it, it's San Francisco, okay doesn't cut. it. And neither does attitude from the staff.

David R.

Yelp
Disgusting place the waitress is the chef . Eat the whole time she made the food I ordered to . After watching her shove food in her mouth the whole time wiping her face . Looked like she picked the salad out of the garbage in the back room to serve me to go . I paid for the food but after watching her the whole time . I did not even take the food. The owner sat there the whole time . I would not give that food to a dog. The place is a dump. Why does the health department go there and inspect. The only reason I gave it one star is the toilet works . I guess that's because people must get sick eating in there all the time and can flush away the evidence.

Yelp
Doesn't taste like last time (two years ago). Perhaps I'm more finicky in my old age, but it was a little too cheesy. It made the center so soggy, that part of the crust disappeared in the cheese heap. It took forever for the pizza get to our table, but to their defense, they had two softball teams eating there while we were there. My GF liked their pizza, but she must be part-mouse...

Yelp
After reading all the reviews about Pirro's. I have to just say it's OK maybe it's because I had it delivered so it didn't taste as fresh??? I was hungry and really craving pizza so why not try Pirro's? 1) The sauce is kind of cardboard tasting. I don't believe it to be homemade 2) I was charged a delivery fee (which is fine considering the high cost of gas. Does the driver get the fee? I also tipped him $2.85 so I paid an extra almost $6 for my pizza which only cost $11 for a small with one topping. 3) They didn't give me any napkins, cheese, or hot pepper flakes Anyways, to sum it all up, I've had better and probably will not go back to Pirro's. Although the crust was good, better than a lot of places.

Yelp
So last night after a very draining day a friend of mine and I decided we wanted some pizza - it sounded good and greasy and we were in. I had passed this place a few times and it looked local and non-chain. Perfect. We ordered a large take out, the service was good and fast and our pizza was done in the 20 minutes they told us it would be. So the large pizza we ordered was a bit on the small size and for about 19 bucks I thought it would be a bit larger. The pie was cooked to perfection - no burned marks and they got our order right which is always a plus. Why did I think it was ok? Well it was just the flavors really. I loved the crust it was perfect, but the cheese was overpowering with our toppings and the seasonings were a bit on the bland side. However I would go back again for sure and now that we have a to go menu for delivery this place trumps all the chains for sure. I would go back for a great pizza. I didn't order other things on the menu but they did have pastas and some garlic bread I may try on my next visit. :)

Yelp
Something about the pizza here is better than the average. It's not as legendary as it used to be and it seems like they've struggled to keep it staffed well but it's a place I frequent for pizza in the Sunset. It's a plus for big groups - they can accomodate teams easily. I wouldn't recommend non-pizza items.

Yelp
Last evening, I had an appointment in the Sunset and afterward was considering crossing over to Sloat Boulevard and using a coupon at Arby's for a free value meal. Somewhere between my lusting for an Arby's Value Meal, I got a hankering for some pizza. I boarded the L Taraval and while traveling towards Thirty Sixth Avenue, I saw a sign that said pizza but, the exterior of the restaurant looked like a tavern. I allowed my curiosity to get the best of me so, I got off the LRV and decided to walk back and see what the 411 was about this place. As I approached the door, I noticed they had a menu posted with prices included, The prices seemed appealing and I saw that it was crowded so, I decided to go for it, As soon as I walked in, I felt a sort of dinginess to the establishment but that was not what bothered me. It was so noisy as there was some sort of sports team having dinner. It was so noisy that even though I was underneath the television, I could hardly hear it nor could I hear myself talking to my other dinner guest. As soon as we came in the door, we noticed a couple empty tables by the flat screen television that was mounted above the last table. We were told to sit there and within two minutes, a menu was dropped at the table. A few minutes later, our order was taken and we were given our two sodas and this was at 6:45, After that interaction, we did not see our waitress until she literally "dropped" the pizza on the table and left which was 45 minutes later. For forty five minutes we were not acknowledged or offered any water or a refill of any soda. Granted, she had a party of people but she was circulating the dining room and she took several minutes to relax so, this was no excuse. The only time the waitress came by to ask if everything was alright was when she was picking up the bill from the table behind us. She saw our soda glasses were empty and she did not offer any more or even offer us water or more napkins which we could have used. I am a grown boy and I can ask for what I need but when I go out to a restaurant, I should not have to. Then after sitting there for a bit, she dropped the check off at the table without asking if we needed anything else. Of course, as we were getting ready to go, the theatrics came on and she was so friendly... I know this game... the insincere sincerity will not cloud the fact that you offered no service and are now expecting a gratuity. In all honesty, she provided some of the worst service I had in a long time and I eat out frequently. As far as the food, the pizza was actually quite good. The toppings were plentiful and the cheese was just enough. As far as the crust, it was crispy yet chewy. So, I would give the pizza cook 3 stars for a well made pizza. However, the wait service was extremely poor and neglectful. Would I come back here again? In all honesty, if I saw this waitperson were not here, I may give it a try but would I go out of my way to go there just to go? I think not!

Yelp
I don't want all my reviews to sound happy-doodle, but I just saw that someone had reviewed this and wanted to add my two cents. I ran into this place the first night I moved to the city and had to try it... it was local after all. We ordered the chicken and pesto and were promptly told that it was their most popular pizza. I see why. The pizza was so yummy. The pesto was creamy and they were heavy on the garlic. The crust is crisp on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside, and the chicken was plentiful. When I brought my folks a week and a half later, they remembered me and my friend and remembered that we ordered the chicken and pesto. And even my parents liked the place... and we know how old people can be I'll continue to order that exact pizza every time I go there.... and maybe just rub it all over my body while howling at the moon. *cough*

Yelp
We hadn't been there for a few years but whoa!!!, this place has gone downhill, the pizza was awful, the kids thought it was the worst pizza they ever tasted. the place was dingy and empty. they burned the garlic bread, the pizza took forever....they forgot the toppings... Their linguica was very old. we just tasted the pizza and that was it. Wish i had the guts to have requested my $ back. Never, EVER going back. I would give it ZERO stars but Yelp won't let me

Yelp
I agree with a few other yelpers that the noise level here on a Friday/Saturday night can be a bit...loud. But the pizza more than makes up for it. The crust is thin enough but not too thin, plenty of awesome toppings (my favorite is the Pirro's Special...everything!) and done to perfection. I've been coming here since I was 5-ish, so maybe its just the nostalgia talking, but this place has amazing pizza and anytime I'm in the neighborhood I always stop by and pick up a pie to go.

Yelp
Went in for a personal pizza and one drink. Pizza was mediocre, service was horrible, and the lady that runs the joint charged me $25 for a PERSONAL pizza and one soda. Never going again, felt so ripped off.

Yelp
I have a family friend that grew up in the Sunset around Taraval eating lots of Pirro's pizza. He said that it has changed hands, but it used to be really good when he was growing up some thirty years ago. This is how I got the recommendation to eat here. We only ate pizza from Pirro's, so I can't comment on any of their other menu items. But we really, really enjoyed their pizza. They deliver, their prices are reasonable, their staff is friendly (the times we went in and ordered), the service is quick, and their ingredients seem fresh. My only complaints are as follows: we had to ask them to go light on the sauce since they usually go a little heavy handed, and sometimes when we would call, we had trouble getting through or placing the order because the staff member on the other end was hard of hearing or had trouble with English. I recommend getting take out and asking them to go light on the sauce. Otherwise, the pizza is tasty and always seems to hit the spot!

Yelp
Let me preface this review by saying that I worked in the restaurant business for over 14 years in nearly every capacity from dishwasher to manager. In this time period one of the most important lessons I learned was how to treat a guest apporpriately to ensure that they would return Unfortunately in the case of Pirro's, the waitress, who did a fine job and was quite accommodating, could not compensate for the level of disrespect exhibited by the manager. Whom I found to be pushy, disrespectful and anything but accommodating, causing my fiance and I to leave before ever taking a bite....

Yelp
The woman who delivered my burger at 11:30pm must not know how to read - either that, or she is terrible at following instructions. It was past 10:30 at night when I was really craving a burger and decided to order from Pirro's Pizzeria through Eat24. Because it was past 10:30pm, when most people in a household are trying to sleep, my instructions were to call my cell phone instead of ringing the doorbell. What happens? The delivery woman rings the doorbell. In addition to not being able to follow instructions properly, she was also impatient. When I walked out of my door to meet her at the gate, all I heard was "MAAAARK!!!! MAAAAAAARKKK!!!!!!" at the top of her lungs!!! Lady, are you freaking kidding me??? I am deducting one star for your lack of customer service, another star for your lack of professionalism, and another star for your inability to follow very basic instructions - instructions that were there as a courtesy to the rest of the people living in my house. Aside from the obnoxious delivery woman, my burger was actually pretty decent. Is it the best burger in San Francisco? No. Does it hit the spot when you're craving a burger at 11pm? Yes. Would I order from them again? Definitely. Am I hoping for the same delivery woman? Yes, so that if she pulls that crap again, I can give her a piece of my mind.
