"This tiny takeout joint, which has been around for more than three decades, is a neighborhood icon. It’s only open Thursday through Saturday, but it’s worth planning around the schedule in order to get a taste of the ribs, brisket, chopped pork, and more. Don’t overlook the sides, especially the cornbread and baked beans." - Valerie Li Stack, Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"The smoker that sits outside Pit Stop is almost bigger than the counter-service restaurant itself. If you’re thinking that’s a good sign for a barbecue place, you’re right. No matter what your go-to barbecue dish is, you’ll be happy with Pit Stop’s version, but we liked the pork ribs best." - dan secatore

"The best part about living in the South isn’t the weather, the college sports, or even the fact that other drivers actually let you merge. It’s that the entire region is filled with little roadside barbecue stands that have smokers out back and serve plates of ribs the size of a Kentucky Derby hat. Pit Stop Barbecue on the Dorchester/Mattapan line may be the only one of those we’ve got inside 128, but it’s a damn fine representation of the genre. From pulled pork, to spicy sausages and brisket, they have all your barbecue favorites, but we liked the pork ribs best." - Dan Secatore

-Collard Greens needs more pepper to spice it up. -Mac&Cheese needs flavor but texture is good. -Yams are slightly sweet, really mashed up. -Chicken could have charred a little for color. -BBQ sauce needs more black pepper, but great idea to place it in separate container (no spills). Let me just say, it was an Ubereats order and took so long that 3 drivers canceled on me. The picture is of my prepared plate at home. I will order again, but the food isn’t over the top. But maybe the best in the area.

Recently moved to Boston from Louisiana and I decided to give this place a try for the first time. Ordered online so I didn’t have to wait as long and still waited about 20 minutes or so for my food. As I’m heading home I realized that my extra BBQ sauce, that I paid extra for, was not included in my bag. The BBQ sauce that was on the ribs spilled through the bag, due to the poor packaging. Once I made it home and started to eat the ribs, I kid you not, two of my ribs didn’t have ANY MEAT on them just burnt char. The sides were alright, need more seasoning throughout the Mac and cheese though. I won’t be ordering from here again because I’m not the first person with this problem. Hopefully, they’ll get better, but I’m personally not waiting to find out.

This place USED to be good years ago. Now it’s TRASH. Their ribs are very skinny but I made no big deal about that today. I get my ribs and go into my car, I’m hungry so I open them right in the lot and they are ICED COLD . I went back and the woman explained it was the bbq sauce that made them cold . I don’t know common sense is to make sure the sauce it hot too but whatever. I won’t be coming here again

It was a nice little spot. I will make it there again . I wonder if there is a variety of BBQ flavors. I only saw the same one in the storage shed.

Maybe I’m supposed to order the pork that is plentiful on the menu but i ordered beef ribs. I thought the process of BBQ ribs is to make the meat tender almost falling off the bone not to snap back like a rubber band. My face muscles must now look like Paul Anderson’s biceps. Needless to say no one could finish the slab of dinosaur bones i ordered. What a waste. I thought maybe i should give Pit Stop an opportunity to make it right but had to realise there’s no way they did not know what they were selling me because poking the meat would tell them it’s too hard for even them to chew.

Mac & Cheese and the beans were not it. Beans needed to cook longer, and should be a bit more sticky... I did like the corn bread and ribs...

Google
A local legend and one you can't miss while driving by. Open late which is appreciated. Ordered at the counter, very cramped inside and definitely take out only. Parking lot had a few people meandering but no one ordering. Food took a while and left a lot to be desired. Beef sausage was dry and pulled pork was not only soaked with sauce but tough. Sides were unremarkable and worth skipping. For local BBQ I'd look elsewhere.

Google
This was some delicious ribs. Felt like ribs that you would get from a BBQ. You could taste the freshness and you could tell that the ribs came right from the grill. Make this one of your "pit stops", lol.

Yelp
Super delicious! I moved and wish this place moved with me. Dynamic flavors and huge portions. Tiny indoor eating and ordering space, so it's probably best to take it to go. Prompt service. Faves: -the sauce!! I would drink it -pulled pork -bbq chicken -greens -corn bread -potato salad

Yelp
Horrible. First, I rarely give a poor review. Much less to a much loved (to me, at least) local institution. This review is based upon my last two visits, one a year ago, the other last night. I forget what I disliked about my earlier visit, but I assumed it must have been an outlier. Could have been a bad night for the staff. But I'm a live and let live kinda guy. Had a craving for some BBQ yesterday. Purchased a "combo" dinner, with beef and pork ribs, sauce on the side. $24 or so. We laughed when we saw the beef ribs. One of them was almost entirely bare. For kicks I scraped off anything that was not bone, and weighed it on the kitchen scale. 1.6 ounces. Mind you, that's 1.6 oz of beef, char, fat and gristle, in no particular order. Which coincidentally is identical to the weight of a McDonald's patty, pre-cooked, or Pit Stop's current average rating (below). The other bone looked marginally meatier, and when I weigh its meat content, I will update this review if it significantly improves. The pork quantity was adequate, but IT HAD TO BE CUT WITH A STEAK KNIFE. What ever happened to "so tender, it just slips off the bone?..." It was rubbery and tough. Perhaps this was because I arrived early in the shift? Not my issue--if you're open, your product should be cooked. Maybe I was getting something reheated from the previous week (my order was on a Thursday late afternoon). Dunno, I hope not. Other reviewers have noted a downward trend. I will attempt a rudimentary trend analysis. First twenty yelp ratings for this establishment vs. last twenty: Oldest star ratings: 3,4,4,5,5,5,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,5,4,3,2,5. Average 4.2* Newest star ratings: 1,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,4,2,1,2,4,1,5,1,3,1,1,5. Average 1.85* Incidentally, what was once a sort of a ramshackle "charm" waiting area now looks like the "office" you go to in a 1960's vintage gas station to pay your inspection sticker, minus the Field and Streams, 3 year old calendar, and possibly a dirty ashtray or two. But I'm sure if I went digging... Guys, if copy-catters from Weymouth are cleaning your clock on BBQ, you've lost focus. I'll be back when you get your act together.

R A.

Yelp
The chicken has a great flavor. BBQ sauce is really good. Greens and rice were good too. First time there, but I'll be back. Don't plan on being in a hurry though. They move at their own pace, but that's ok. Just kinda how it is here.

Jay P.

Yelp
Their beef ribs were the roughest ribs I've ever attempted to eat. It has been 7 years since I've last eaten their food. I vowed never to eat there after eating the toughest ribs known to man. My brother came by with some of their beef ribs and it was still the same poor quality experience as 7 years ago. I don't know how they are still in business with such low quality bbq. It's a shame! Only thing falling off the bone may be your teeth! Good luck!!!

Sandy T.

Yelp
Great neighborhood gem! It's a very small space with enough room to maybe squeeze 3-4 people standing inside at once. I ordered the combo with pork ribs and pork sausage with a side of potato salad and yams. We waited outside after we placed our order along with everyone else. We could see all the meats being smoked in the barbecue pit located right next to the restaurant. Our order took awhile to come out but Everything was piping hot and fresh. The food was delicious. The meat had a wonderful smoky flavor to it and the sauce is like crack. The potato salad and the yams were also really good. My boyfriend and I split the combo and that was enough to feed the both of us. I heard the Mac and cheese here is bomb as well so it's probably worth trying out if you're checking this place out. The only thing that could've been better is that my pork rib wasn't exactly "fall off the bone" tender, it was a little tough but the flavor was there and the sausage was perfect.

Michael S.

Yelp
Never had a bad experience with these guys, definitely get the ribs and Mac and cheese with the candy yams

M P.

Yelp
This is the beef ribs. I ordered candied yams as well; they were "rooty" and tasted like cinnamon more like a Malta drink without sugar. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.... Zero stars.. I wouldn't even give my dog this eat.

Bridgit B.

Yelp
There was a fly in my greens. Oh! It was so horrible. I almost ate it. Please stay away.

Deborah S.

Yelp
Food was great here, but they are permanently closed. The owner moved away. They will be missed.

Bianca S.

Yelp
The food is bomb .. I ordered the mini rib tray with yams and Mac n cheese which totaled $17.00. Well seasoned and solid portion size. BUT if you do not call in advance be prepared to wait at least 60 minutes for food. Customer service is terrible. No real timing updates and if you ask employees scold you. I overheard a deliver driver walk in requesting a time update for the 3rd time and the employee replied "idk" and walked off. Score would be higher if the service was better. Parking is okay. There's a small parking lot in front of the establishment and street parking is available.

Roosevelt G.

Yelp
I don't know if he was in a bad mood or what ‍‍ cause all I wanted was some Corn Bread from the the center and he kept saying do want corn bread or what, do you want corn bead or not ( very rudely) so my taste for the ribs went out the door with me! And I ALWAYS spend at least $60 to $70 at a time!! Not anymore!!

Nathan C.

Yelp
If you're thinking about ordering delivery from this place, DON'T! I'm a driver and no one in their ride mind is going to take your order from this place. Waited in line 10 mins just to be told the customer's order I was supposed to deliver would take 40 mins to be done. Mind you there were only two customers there and the food is cooked outdoors basically next to the street. Who knows, maybe the food is amazing...but just know delivery drivers hate places like this and will not wait 40 mins nor should customers have to wait that long either!

Charmie C.

Yelp
We ordered the beef ribs. These ribs are humongous. We were laughing at just how big they were. And it cost under $20. Unbelievable. For two people, this is more than enough food. The best part: well-seasoned, tender meat and incredibly juicy sauce. The meal came with a sizable container of the sauce to go with the ribs. We made it through about half of them together (2 persons). Pitstop is the real deal for Bbq in our area.

Sweet4real C.

Yelp
I just received my 80.00 order which was delivered and all the sides I ordered were included in my bag...WHAT??! Plus, the ribs that I did receive were old, probably from yesterday's batch..just a shame, SMH... I don't know what the malfunction is with this place but I've had four consecutive orders completely wrong or missing items AND now I'm done with Pit Stop for good. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they have consistently not done right and I'm over this place.

Demetria B.

Yelp
Don't do it!!!!!!!! And I'm not the only one screaming this. Read the other reviews. I, too ordered through UberEats and what a nightmare this was. My food arrived over TWO HOURS after I ordered it. It was in a crumpled up brown bag and one of the sides I ordered was missing. I ordered only sides: collard greens, Mac 'n cheese, potato salad and cornbread....now how hard can that be??? The potato salad was missing. The greens had a bad taste of vinegar in which I needed copious amounts of ginger ale to aid in its digestion and the mac 'n cheese was definitely not homemade (I could get better from a box with powdered cheese). The cornbread was just confused with its chalky and sweet taste. What a horrible experience!!! Save yourself money and don't order BBQ in Boston (I've nearly tried them all) but Pit Stop takes the cake and it's spoiled rotten. I tried to call after an hour of waiting and just kept getting voicemail. UberEats needs to take this place off their roster.

Allison E.

Yelp
Great bar-b-que. Whenever I can bear the calories, and I'm nearby, I get some. The sauce is sweeter than I prefer (I'm from the south and love a vinegar sauce), but it's still good. Pick up the food yourself. Uber eats and other pick-up services take a huge portion of the profit (30 to 40%), which doesn't help the biz.

Jassy M.

Yelp
The cornbread is super thin and the slices are small it is not included in the meal like at most soul food places. It taste like sugar bread no buttery flavor and its very dry. The mac and cheese was ok. The chicken lacked flavor and they just smear bbq sauce on it unseasoned. They don't have delivery. The worst part of all I got bbq ribs and it was all bone I should get a refund for them.

Bea T.

Yelp
This is a great pit stop for barbecue ribs. You can smell the aroma of barbecue several blocks down in Mattapan. We stopped by and had a sample of the beef ribs and the pork ribs. Now they ran out of beef ribs so I don't think we had the best ones they were a little dry. But the pork ribs by far were to die for. Delicious delicious delicious! The barbecue sauce has a lot of love. I would like to come here again to try the barbecue chicken. It's very very simple and there really is no place to seat other than two seats by the counter... it's really just a little nook in a parking lot. Please drop by because the folks are really nice there and you can tell they have passion and making one of the best and favorite American meals.

Lisa C.

Yelp
The food is good but they are unreliable. I tried to order Uber eats from Pit Stop and three different drivers went there to pick it up before the order was eventually cancelled. At that point, I've wasted over an hour trying to get a meal and it's going to take another hour to order from somewhere else. If Pit Stop cannot fulfill the order then they need to stop taking them instead of wasting people's time.

Daniel S.

Yelp
This place was absolutely fantastic. We got a huge 9 pack of beef ribs with sides of Mac n cheese, greens, potato salad, baked beans, and a banana pudding for dessert. All in all the food was excellent and I felt like Fred Flintstone eating big ass ribs. This place is one of the best barbecue spots in the area. I highly recommend this place.

Steffon L.

Yelp
This is the place you go to wait at least an hour for your food. Calling ahead doesn't matter still have to wait. Food is ok.

Audrey W.

Yelp
Never order from this restaurant!!! I ordered food from them via Uber eats. After waiting literally two hours and 40 minutes the restaurant closed and canceled my order. Their phone is unreachable and full of messages probably from people like me who have been hungry and hangry and deprived of food because these jerks act like they have a real restaurant. Clearly this is some sort of a fly-by-night place and since there is no recourse they don't answer calls, nor do they know how to run a restaurant. What annoyed me the most is the fact that they've taken the money from me for their food which they canceled and refused to give me. Seriously?! Do they think they are getting away with my measly money. Clearly they aren't familiar with customer service.

Ansia F.

Yelp
If you are crunched for time save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. I called in my order and left 20 minutes later to pick it up (mind you I literally live right down the street). I even tried to kill more time by stopping by the liquor store. After waiting an additional 20 minutes standing around I asked about my meal and was told they didn't even begin making it. Talk about being hangry (yes..hangry) and pissed off!! I still had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes before I was finally given my food. With all that being said..I was so disappointed. My collard greens were so bitter and tough! And my mac and cheese was so watery and flavorless and I bit into a freaking eggshell!! I was so turned off I was debating whether to return it or not. My beef ribs somewhat made up for it. They were flavorful and very tender. They were stingy with the BBQ sauce but otherwise it was good. If I do return I will only stick with the beef ribs

Zion B.

Yelp
Dry rough meat don't get the beef ribs unless u eat bbq bone the greens were bitter and had no flavor whatsoever the only good part about my meal was barley the Mac and cheese had very little flavor and was very greasy.

Denise R.

Yelp
This place is the pits for sure! They don't answer the phone! Went there to order! The people were slow! waiting for my food took an hour! Greens should not have so many stems. potato salad was dry! The baked beans were good and the corn bread was too! The ribs were tough!!! Back in the day it was the spot! Today it's a spot you want to miss!

Lily M.

Yelp
After ordering food from Pit Stop, I decided never to visit again. The ribs were dry, lacked sauce and were tough. I never knew there was a side dish called, "mashed potato salad"! The only decent item was the Mac and cheese.

Vivian C.

Yelp
If you want to take out bbq, Pit Stop Barbeque is your place! They have bbq and a small location set up for take out. We ordered a whole bunch of items and received plenty of utensils and napkins, and cornbread and supersoft sliced white (and wheat!) bread to share. Cornbread crumbly. Brisket we had to cut ourselves, but the fatty meat was so tender! Beef Ribs huge and a bit tough. Collard Greens the only green option, but I found meat in there. (Note to vegetarians!) Nice bbq sauce. All the sides we tried were good - collard greens, rice, potato salad, yam, baked beans. I'd repeat any of them and particularly the brisket.

Stephen R.

Yelp
Ok giving them 5 stars because the food is good, as for New England BBQ. Superb no, but that's comparing to southern BBQ. Food is good, cool little spot remember coming here yrs ago while doing construction across the street, the smell billowing out would kill us (in good way). Every time I'm in area I swing in, can't go wrong great prices, love the corn bread. They make it perfectly and yes compared to southern corn bread it's dead on. Sauce is good, bit much but that's just me nothing against them just because I don't like a lot doesn't mean others don't. Nice to get some good cooking, traveling a lot eating fast food is bad and gets old so good change well worth it.

Kwame S.

Yelp
Ordered my food on the phone which was smart because the line was long. Waited about 10 mins in line for my food. The food tasted ok nothing special. They was not stingy with the food amount (ribs and rice). The ribs could have used some more sauce tho. Would order again but try something different.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
I just received my order of ribs potato salad and baked beans. The entire order was stuffed into one container the container broke open during transport and there was rib sauce everywhere I couldn't even deal with it I'm about to throw it away. Seriously rib sauce all over potato salad what a mess. Going to order a Big Mac for dinner.

Anthony J.

Yelp
WARNING!!! This place really sucks!!! Don't waste your time and money, I ordered a barbecue ribs on the grub hub app for 30$ and they gave me some BURNTED END... that I couldn't even bite or chew. I wasted my hard earned money for nothing that I can't afford to be wasting my hard earned money and it's not fair that they can do that and get away with it!!! I'M REALLY PISSED OFF!!! # BOYCOTT them for there terrible service...

Kristin M.

Yelp
I wouldn't go there if my life depended on it. Waited in that dump for over 15 minutes to order and was ignored. Very nice customers waiting for their food who let me try to make someone pay attention to me after standing for 15 minutes, I sat down until some other patrons came in and we're taking care of right away. Not sure if it was the color of my skin or not but since I was the only one out of 25 people that went in and out of there THAT WAS different and WHO had been treated so poorly. I can only speculate . I lived in this neighborhood for more than 12 years and have never been disrespected like this before . Needless to I will never go there again good food bad food customer service sucked!! Since I am forever ordering take out they lost a lot of business not to mention word of mouth is amazing.

Timothy M.

Yelp
We ordered at 8:30pm through Ubereats and we never got word back from the restaurant the whole night. We called the delivery guy around 1030pm he said he has been waiting over an hour for the food and they were extremely rude to him. I called the restaurant they wouldn't pick up the phone, then I called again and they forwarded my call. So I had to call ubereats and cancel my order. I would never order from there again unless they change their approach on customer service!!!! A waste of the delivery guys time and a waste of my time!!!!!

William M.

Yelp
No stars! None 0 They advertise they deliver through UberEats. I made an order at around 8:30PM (prime time right?) Wait until 10:15 (most restaurants closed) before they choose to cancel the order. I see other folks on here have the same complaint. Don't bother with this place as you can see it is a serious waste of your time.

Kristen A.

Yelp
Went to Pit Stop last Friday night for the first time and it was great! We ordered a full rack of pork ribs, beef sausages and a whole chicken. We got the sauce on the side which a friend recommended doing. Everything was cooked perfect and flavorful. For sides we ordered mac-n-cheese, potato salad and yams. All were delicious. You can tell that they don't cut corners, and that everything is prepared in a time consuming manner. It was 7pm and they were out of beef brisket, but will try that next time. We ordered in person and only waited 10-15 min.

Chris B.

Yelp
Salty bbq sauce. Pulled pork left something to be desired. Ribs were ok but expected a lot better. Peach cobbler was the worst I've ever had.

Chantel J.

Yelp
You know those sketchy places that you're like....is this real? Well that's Pit Stop, it's a small place that serves AMAZING BBQ. They have everything and it's all sooo good and it's cheap. The ribs fall off the bone and the mac n; cheese, yams...pretty much all the sides are AMAZING. The times are weird, always look up in the sky. If you're in Dorchester and see smoke, Pit Stop is open. Try this place, you won't regret it.

KImball S.

Yelp
I ordered from GrubHub because I heard about this place from co-workers who raved about it. I lived In Mattapan and Dorchester most of my life so I was surprised I didn't know about it. Anyway, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich (that wasn't bad) , beef sausage dinner, rib dinner, barbecue chick dinner 1/2 chicken, collard greens, bread pudding, Mac and cheese, Cajun rice. The secret I guess to good barbecue is apparently the side dishes. Everything was good with exception to the Sausage dinner that I never got, My ribs were tougher than a 300 year old witche's tit and my son's barbecued 1/2 chicken was dryer than a 90 year old Nun. I say this with humor in mind to laugh off the 80.00 I spent on this f'ing Hot Garbage Barbecue Dinners. However, I do recommend the sides because the Collard greens were awesome and the Bread pudding! I would have slapped your momma and my momma at the same time! So leaving this on a positive note, I will never again F'ing order their sh*t from Grub hub but most importantly I will never their Hot F'ing BarbQ garbage again (I say that with all the passion I can muster) . However, when I'm in the mood for some decent sides I'll spend the gas money and pick it up myself.

John D.

Yelp
Terrible customer service, didn't receive an item attempted to contact them and was hung up on three times after they got tired of letting it go to voicemail. Pulled pork gave me food poisoning, mac and cheese was bland and tasteless. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Jainae N.

Yelp
The worst barbecue spot in my life, the food sucks, it's just plain nasty the pulled pork was disgusting the ribs over cooked and dry and the collard greens have no flavor and the food is over priced I don't recommend this place at all .

Shelby M.

Yelp
We waited 2 hours for food. The ribs were so tough they were genuinely inedible. Like, could not even bite into the meat, physically inedible. Watery macaroni. I ordered the chopped pork but I don't have a review for that because they gave me a second order of ribs instead with no explanation. Potato salad was more like mashed potatoes. Don't waste your money.

Dan G.

Yelp
Wow. First off, if you want brisket, you better only visit on Friday and Saturday, they don't have it every day of the week, boooooo (or else 5 stars may have been in the future?). Next, the portions are huge. I am a giant, but even these portions were ginorm for me! Myself and a coworker each got a combo meat dinner, so 2 meats and 2 sides. I got the hot beef sausage and chopped pork. Let me just tell you, I have enough food here for THREE meals, so before you scoff at the price ($15) you need to understand what you are getting. Chopped pork = Pulled pork. Spicy and flavorful and ..omg Hot beef sausage = spicy and omg So in my combo meal I got 2 sausages and a HUGE pile of pork I also got collard greens which were delicious and the baked beans which were also really quite delicious. The whole meal made me cry, actually. Each meal comes with a piece of cornbread which was not dry and meh, but was really good AND you get 2 slices of white bread (maybe for the pork?). I loved being in the little shack and watching them cook the meats just behind the counter. Oh I also enjoyed the final slathering of yummy BBQ sauce all over the meal, seriously, omg. Lastly CASH ONLY so bring plenty of it.

Magnificent T.

Yelp
Small BBQ joint but the service is fast and the food is bomb as hell the center cut ribs and that potato salad are to die for.

Mike G.

Yelp
WOW!! If this was a sit and dine location, I'd most likely move in!! The Pit Stop is DELICIOUS! And yes, I absolutely wrote that in all caps! It's a small quick stop location for your BBQ pick-up needs, and it's worth the drive/stop for some delicious BBQ. The owners are from South Carolina, and their cook is from Mississippi. As a southern'er I'm proud to say that this location definitely represents great BBQ. Don't let the small walk in area fool you, or the VERY limited parking outside. (Street parking available also) I noticed a few people there for pick-ups, so it looks like a call ahead orders may be the best option for you. I, however, was a walk- in, and ordered right at the counter with a very quick turnaround (not any more than 10 mins, and most likely closer to 5). One of the great things is, as a first time customer they offer a small free sample of your choice (pork, rib, etc) for you to get a taste for what you want to go for. I'm not trying to play it up any, but I'm 120% serious when I say that every single thing I ordered to eat was fantastic!! I did a 2 meat combo, which came with cornbread and 2 side. For meats I went with the cooks suggestions, #1 being the pork ribs and #2 being beef brisket. He wasn't kidding, these were great selections, and they came generously sauces in their BBQ sauce... which is also delicious. Their sauce is a nice tomato based sauce, with a lot of flavor a "LITTLE" spice (enough for kick, not for open mouth breathing and loads of water!) and was a nice balance of thick/thin. So it stuck to the meat nicely, but was easy to spread around... basically... not to "drippy". LOL My sides were their baked/bbq beans, and spicy rice. Again, everything was great... the beans were nice and thick, almost like a chili, and packed with flavor. The rice was well cooked (not soft or hard) and almost 'stir fried' with peppers. Great taste that went very well with the bbq meats. My girlfriend has the ribs + beans and potato salad. I didn't try the salad myself, but she kept raving about it. So I'm going with another delicious choice there! LOL Lastly, desert, because who can forget that? I went with their Banana Pudding with Nilla Wafers. This is a great desert, and a common one for most southern folks, and the Pit Stop BBQ definitely did it justice. They have several serving options, and I got the regular one to go with my meal, but there is a great chance I'll be going back to get a family serving size to last me through a week - it still gets my mouth watering just thinking about it! I can't rave enough about this spot, call ahead or stop in and make a quick order to go, I can promise you that you won't be disappointed with your choice(s).

Yelp
We have tried this place out a few times now. First of all, understand that not everything is available every day. For instance, it you want brisket, go on a Saturday. But when you figure that stuff out, it is SO WORTH IT. We always get take out, and I never pick up, so I can't speak to the restaurant itself. The brisket I had this week was delicious and the barbecue sauce was OUTSTANDING. Not the overly tomato-y stuff I tend to see too often. The yams were sweet and tasty and the cold slaw was fresh, crunchy and not loaded down with mayo. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the meat - there were one and a half slices of brisket that were entirely fat and inedible. I mean, I know there's fat on brisket, but 1 and a half slices were solid fat through and through - with no meat. There was still a huge portion, thankfully, so I still had enough for dinner for the next day, even though I had to toss one and a half slices. It killed me, though, because that sauce is GOLD and I wanted ALL of it! I will absolutely eat here again. And again. And I want a case of the sauce. I'll put that S$&*#% on everything.

Yelp
Not what it used to be but its still good..the pork ribs are good..the chicken is good..the sides are. Ok..depends on what you get. No whereelse is doing ribs and chicken like this place though..its a BBQ pit for real. ..smoke n all when you pull up..and smell the amazing smell of BBQ.

Yelp
It took me 20 years to finally get a plate from here and it wasn't bad. I just wasn't blown away...the bbq sauce and chicken was the best thing on my plate. I will go back and try another plate, it may have been an off day.

Yelp
I ordered some ribs from here and What I received was not even close to edible, I had to cook it all over again to try to get the toughness out and even that did not work so I just ended up throwing it out. When I called them to rectify the horrible food preparation they added insult to injury and provided horrid customer service so unless you want to chew on rubber for dinner and be treated horribly I don't suggest eating there.

Yelp
Grew up in Balto and Dc and lived all over the South, HANDS DOWN THE best BBQ in Boston Brisket falls apart sauce impeccable, and collard OMG. Neighborhood will scare many of the light and the timid, but the people who work there and the Haitian community it is located in are warm, loving and embracing, so do it right and get yourself out of the yuppy burds and head to Morton Street and let the smell of the BBQ cooking outside and done right and the sounds of Compa Music in and get the REAL THING. Even better take it over to one of Bsotn hidden gems on Blue Hill Ave Franklin Park and have a picnic. It will be a GREAT TIME
