The Best Places To Eat Near The Beach In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This small, casual Israeli restaurant across from Malibu’s Surfrider Beach sets up a few long tables on its front patio so you can walk up with sand on your cheeks and order something light and fresh. The move at Pita 'Bu is to go big on the mezze like smooth tahini, Israeli salad tossed with zippy sumac, and smoky baba ganoush best scooped up with falafel. Pita 'Bu is also entirely pescatarian and serves juicy salmon kabob, which we like as a plate with warm pita." - brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder, cathy park

The 15 Best Restaurants In Malibu - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"In a perfect world, we'd live in a bathing suit and eat mezze with an ocean view every day. That’s still a pipe dream, but at least we can glimpse the fantasy at Pita’ Bu. This casual Israeli spot across PCH from Surfrider Beach sets up a few long tables on its front patio, so you can walk up with sand in your trunks. The fully pescatarian menu includes pitas, plates, and dips, like smoky baba ganoush scooped up with falafel. If you want a sampler of Pita Bu’s hits, opt for the salmon plate (they’re more like salmon kofta with minced onion and parsley) with sides of hummus, pickles, and Israeli salad tossed in tons of sumac." - brant cox, sylvio martins

18 Best Healthy Restaurants In LA

"We know you’re here to learn about where you can eat some vegetables, but, more importantly, do you like an ocean view? Well, this is a spot where you can eat a healthy pescatarian meal off the PCH in Malibu. Pita ‘Bu sets up a few long tables on its front patio, so you can walk up with sand in your trunks and snack on mezze like smooth tahini and smoky baba ganoush that we scoop up with crispy falafel. The fish kabob is more like salmon kofta stuffed with plentiful minced onion and parsley, and the type of light, healthy meal you want after a strenuous afternoon of sunbathing." - sylvio martins, brant cox

Google
Delicious kosher food. I recommend the falafel wrap and salmon tacos. They were very accommodating to a soy allergy. Parking is crazy limited. I'd order ahead and take it to go. It's worth the trouble.

Google
Absolutely delicious and perfect in every way! Lots of vegan and animal based options. Friendly staff and a cute patio to sit and eat facing the beach. A reasonable price point for the area and quality, as well. I’ll definitely be coming back!!

Google
Wow. What a fantastic little place that packs a huge punch. Vegan and tasty??? Yes!! The food is fresh. The size is fair and the location is priceless. Simple solid food. Best of all it’s kosher! I’m a fan of falafel all the more so falafel by the sea. Two thumbs up!:)

Jeff McLean

Google
Overlooking the ocean and the bustling traffic of PCH is a little place in Malibu that will change your impression of falafel. You know, the dry, tasteless hockey pucks that you wished you’d ordered a steak kabob. After a first bite you find the bright, herbal, green interior that makes you feel like you don’t have enough. Housemade pita, hummus, tabouli, toum (that creamy concoction of garlic, lemon, salt and oil) So satisfying. Next trip I’ll try the shawarma.

Google
This restaurant and the staff are amazing. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious! To top it off, They are part of the central kitchen to feed hard hit areas (CA fires), so they're offering free meals--- that blew me away ! so generous and amazing. Got to try this place. I will be back.🙏👍

Jackie Just

Google
Absolutely incredible to see what this place is doing for the community as they continue to recover from the fires. Thank you chef Oren! And the food here is 10/10 too!!

I recently visited Pita 'Bu, a vegetarian restaurant, and I must say, I had a fantastic experience. I ordered the fish kabob in a pita, and it exceeded my expectations in terms of freshness and taste. The fish was incredibly fresh, and perfectly cooked. It was complemented by a delightful combination of spices and flavors that made every bite a delight. The accompanying fries were equally impressive. They were cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The seasoning was spot on, adding an extra layer of deliciousness to the meal. I was impressed by how well the fries complemented the fish kabob, creating a well-rounded and satisfying meal. One thing that stood out to me during my visit was the attention to detail and quality of ingredients. Everything felt carefully sourced, and it truly reflected in the flavors. As someone who appreciates vegetarian and vegan options, I was thrilled to see a variety of choices on the menu. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Pita 'Bu, where I plan to try their vegan schwarma. If it's anything like the fish kabob, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. The restaurant's commitment to providing high-quality vegetarian and vegan options is commendable. The atmosphere of Pita 'Bu was cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The service was prompt, and my food arrived quickly. Overall, Pita 'Bu is a vegetarian restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. The fish kabob in a pita was fresh and delicious, and the fries were cooked to perfection. I highly recommend trying their vegan schwarma as well. Whether you're a vegetarian, vegan, or simply looking for a tasty and satisfying meal, Pita 'Bu is definitely worth a visit. I will undoubtedly be back soon to explore more of their delectable menu options.

Google
Love everything about this place. The freshest food, clean and fun vibe, friendly staff, and quick service. Everything tasted so delicious and fresh with only super clean ingredients. One of my favorite places to go when we’re out on the coast. HIGHLY recommend.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch on my way through. Great fish tacos! Very fresh and excellent flavor combination. Limited menus and outdoor seating, but well worth the stop.

Brittany T.

Yelp
We came here recently for lunch and the food was delicious! Everyone was so personable. We ordered the salmon plate and it was perfectly cooked and the hummus tasted really fresh as well. Love having a fresh local lunch spot.

Joseph G.

Yelp
The freshest fish and best service in Malibu. I love the vibes at Pita Bu, from the music they play to the amazing staff that always have smiles on their faces! Highly recommend you guys to come check it out.

Yelp
I'm convinced everything here is delicious. Fantastic service as well. Everyone is so friendly. From the cashier to the bus boy.

Yelp
A FAIL . . . Below average Fish Taco at an extraordinary high price... Not recomended.

Yelp
Blown away by Pita Bu and now have our new favorite go-to restaurant in Malibu! Went there with our kids on a busy holiday and got 2 orders of fish and chips, fish tacos and a falafel platter. Service was outstanding and friendly. Despite being extremely busy, they got our food out within 15 minutes. The food itself was exceptionally fresh, the fish was incredible, everything was nice and warm and freshly prepared. Our kids absolutely loved the fish and chips and everything else we had was top quality. Location can't be beat - just across from Malibu pier and near Nobu. I wouldn't hesitate to go back often and give these guys a lot of business. Thanks!

Yelp
Zero Costomer service very expensive when you order food they serve the food in cheap plastic plates I order food for my family spend $150 dollars and I put $5 tip in jars next to cashier and I pay 18% tip and when we got our food we need one more pita for my son I ask them for more pita she said you have to pay $2.50 for extra pita zeroooooooo Costomer service food really bad never go there anymore

Yelp
Just the best in Malibu, period. Best food, great service, good vibes. Very fresh and made with love.
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
Delish, but quite pricey food. Was pretty slow when crowded. Lovely people. 'Ocean view' is really more 'PCH traffic' view, and it can get quite loud and noxious depending on traffic. We loved the falafels and other vegan dishes.
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Disappointing. Very small micro portions and the food tasted very bland. Fish tacos weren't even in tacos, they were inside a pita bread. Was very hopeful for this place, but unfortunately wouldn't recommend.

Shlomo G.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, and the service was terrific. Also, the ambiance was ok that you are next to the water and car traffic
google avatar

Angela R.

Yelp
The food is so fresh! Ambiance is PCH. Who doesn't love Malibu? Highly recommend trying this place. It doesn't disappoint. I've been 3x.

Yelp
The Pita Bu is an awesome restaurant located in a great spot. They have lots of menu options and everything we ordered was tasty, fresh, and appetizing. They make the Best falafel plate in Los Angeles.
google avatar

Loran L.

Yelp
Really great food, and great service for a fast casual restaurant. The eggplant sandwich (sabich) was one of the best I've had saved the fish plate and Friday tacos were really really good. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Yum Yum Yum what else can I say! Great food with NOT Malibu prices. Sitting outside with nice fresh sea breeze good food The best!

Tamar A.

Yelp
The most amazing food! I love love the fish tacos and the hummus omg:) Such a cool vibe and excellent service!
google avatar

Nar L.

Yelp
The place is so great. I've ordered sea bass tacos and my friend ordered falafel plate. We had two non alcoholic beers. Check was a little above $50. My fish tacos were delicious - tasted fresh and clean. The falafel plate with hummus and salads was also yummy and fresh. Highly recommend.
google avatar

D B.

Yelp
Of course overlooking the ocean is a beautiful ambiance Service is a plus Small portions
google avatar

Veronica M.

Yelp
The best fish tacos!! The combo of ingredients and perfectly cooked sea bass made these tacos AMAZE-ing! We ordered our meal to-go and it was ready in 15-20 mins. We also enjoyed the falafel plate and fries.
google avatar

Abbey S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious ! So authentic. Fresh. Flavorful. Chef Oren came out and chatted it up with me and my 92 year old friend. Great mix of music. Hall & Oats, Stevie Wonder, and funk. Fresh water with lemon mint cucumber. We shared a platter and it was so satisfying and full of surprises. I highly recommend a day at surf rider beach with a walk to Pita Bu. Or check out Aviator Nation and shop local and eat local. So yummy. I will definitely be back !!!!

Yelp
Paradise Baby at Pita Bu restaurant over the weekend. I tried and ordered Fish tacos and the Sea bass fish tacos as well for my girlfriend and her friends over the weekend. So we all met up at the restaurant to have a wonderful treat. We also wanted to try the Pita bread and Shawarma Israeli salad and chicken inside my Pitas. Food is good with are awesome waitress helping us. Drink chooses of wine. and other drinks with it. Love the place out by the water. We will be coming back.

bowie h.

Yelp
Okay payed 20$ and they barley put any food in my takeout platt I was shocked tel eviv grill is 24$ and gives you a side of fried egg plant sides of hummus This place gave me nothing.... So disappointed
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
Pita Bu is the best!!!! I highly recommend pita bu if your kosher or if you just simply like eating healthy fresh. It's a small local owned business. Their customer service is the best you will find in malibu! You will come as a customer and leave as family. It's a super cute cozy location with amazing ambiance right next to the beach. Can't get better then that!

Chloe B.

Yelp
What is this....fries were the size of crumbs. For $7, this is a disappointment. Food also takes forever to come out. Not bad but don't recommend.
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
The prices are astronomical for what you get. Hummus for $13? A fish kabob for $20. Very mediocre. No thanks.
google avatar

Elmira L.

Yelp
All the different sides were so yummy! It's nice to have more options by the pier and beach.
google avatar

Carolyn K.

Yelp
Best best Best food in Malibu. Food here is so fresh and tasty. Amazing and unique flavors. I highly recommend it and I love all the vegetarian options
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Awesome place! The food is outstanding and so is the service! We walked in and wanted a large carry out order for a group of 15 on the spot. The staff helped and let us sample everything, gave us extra food, and helped consult us on how much to get (it ended up being the perfect amount). The falafel, pita, humus, tahini, red sauce, carrots, pickles were all my favorites. The fish looked really good but I didn't have any because I filled up on the other orders. We had leftovers and it was just as good the next day. 10/10 recommend can't wait to go back
google avatar

Eli L.

Yelp
It's very disappointed experience I ordered falafel taco and sabich it's all street food what it's mean fast and good it took over 30 minutes to make until I got it I opened it to eat I was so hungry falafel served cold (who knows falafel if it's not hot it's not worth it the sabich needs to come with hard boiled egg it comes with 1 slice of hard boiled egg where is the rest of the egg are you kidding me you charge $16 for 1 eggplant sweet potato and 1 slice of hard boiled egg so if you want to eat real sabich bring tehini sauce with you and hard boiled egg with you . In general, it's very expensive doesn't worth it. Come out cold. And he took forever to make. For sure, my last time.

Yelp
Amazing food, great atmosphere and the service it phenomenal, the chef had had renown clients and he continues to share his skills with the public.
google avatar

Yelp
Wish I had better photos as the food was exceptionally good, and pictures show only leftovers. The restaurant recently opened located below Chabad of Malibu and this order was to go. This place is super casual, across the parking lot for Malibu Pier, they take online orders or at the counter. The falafel plate was even better than homemade, this is like gourmet falafel starting with the side salads to the carefully made small bites of falafel. It comes with REAL Israeli pita, mixed micro greens salad, tahini dressing, Shuk salad -Israeli chopped tomato cucumber , Schug similar to a Chimichrri sauce. Other things I ordered: Tabbouleh salad, good, but needed bit more lemon and olive oil, they make a gluten free version with quinoa just for Malibu, purists may frown upon but I didn't mind Hummus, truly excellent in freshness with delicious tahini creaminess Baba Ganoush, is best in LA and reminds me of my grandmother's with heavy roasted smoky eggplant flavor, creamy and yet chunky The pita bread is authentic and was prepared fresh for my order. Definitely coming again, good job chef and hope to see more items on the menu
google avatar

Lee B.

Yelp
Pita Bu has some of the best food I have EVER had. The spreads and the hummus is all so good. I cannot wait to go there again! And it's such a beautiful view from there as well.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Pita Bu is a true gem! The food is not only fresh but also incredibly delicious, making it a standout dining experience. The menu offers a delightful variety, satisfying diverse tastes. What sets Pita Bu apart is its breathtaking beach views, creating a perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this spot is a must-try for those who appreciate both fantastic food and stunning scenery. A solid five stars from me!

Valerie W.

Yelp
So so good!!! I'm so thrilled we have a place to get really fresh food in Malibu!! Fabio was so friendly and helpful!
google avatar

Avi B.

Yelp
This cool place with great music and fun service is a valuable addition to our community. Conveniently located on PCH in front of the pier, I enjoyed freshly baked pita bread and reasonably priced to-go salads. I was pleasantly surprised to discover they also bake Challa bread on-site. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I absolutely love this restaurant. The quality is always above par and they have fresh, delicious ingredients.

Yelp
Great food and great location the food was amazing Fresh and delicious everything looks healthy

Yelp
One of the best falafel sandwiches I've had in LA! Fresh ingredients, amazing hummus, great Pita, and just all around great sandwich.

Karin W.

Yelp
Highly recommend!!! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Definitely coming back soon ! Love it .

Yelp
The food was delicious!!!! Very good and clean too Service was also nice :) See you nextime

Sherry R.

Yelp
I got the falafel plate and a drink. The food was very fresh and tasty. The store is very clean, cute and has a nice atmosphere. We sat outside and it was wonderful. The chef/owner and all staff were super nice. Parking can be difficult, but I guess that is a given since it is on PCH. Portions were a bit small for the price, but I guess that is also given since it is kosher and located on PCH. Will def be coming back, yum!

Amir K.

Yelp
Food is ok, staff is horrible. It's that simple. Anything else to add is just a waste of time. I'm local and won't come back. Whoever that woman is who's in charge needs to go. 0 customer service. Just ridiculous.

Meir R.

Yelp
Definitely chef restaurant. Very clear menu, fast service, I ate the vegan shawarma, came with loaded with great clean textured hummus, cabbage, Israeli salad , and a soft pita bread. The view of the ocean makes if feels your sitting on one of Tel Aviv's beaches

Noah B.

Yelp
Food is bland and overpriced. Staff is rude and I felt profiled and unwelcome. What a waste of money and vibes - go eat elsewhere in Malibu, these folks should go back to wherever they came from. I won't come back. Whoever that woman is who's in charge needs to go. 0 customer service.

Sara K.

Yelp
Most delicious kosher fish tacos I've ever had. Photo doesn't do it justice. Ambiance is awesome but didn't expect the food to be THAT good. We had the portobello humus, fish tacos to share and falafels. The fish tacos stole the show. Have I said fish tacos enough? No. Order the fish tacos. Can't wait to come back
google avatar

Sigal L.

Yelp
Hi end Israeli kitchen! Great friendly service , fresh testy food. Must visit and try it yourself!
google avatar

Levi O.

Yelp
Great tasting food that's fresh and tasty! Perfect vibe for visiting Malibu especially after the pier

B H.

Yelp
Sensational falafel. But ... parking can be impossible. Several times have had to give up and go elsewhere because I could not find a spot in the highway within walking distance or one in Pita Bu's small lot. Chabad next door told me I may not park in its lot.
