"Since it opened 40 years ago, Pita Inn has become celebrated for its falafel, shawarma, kebabs, hummus, lentil soup, and, of course, its soft and pillowy pitas. (Keeping up with the times, there are now Impossible kebabs.) But also don’t overlook the garlic sauce, which elevates anything it touches, from a pita sandwich to a plate of french fries. There are now four additional locations, plus a grocery store in Skokie." - Naomi Waxman, Eater Staff

They had culture music on and the place smelled amazing, very much recommended especially their falafels. They cost 13.49 for 2 dozens. Which got my family of 5 full with extras. Also get the entrees they are delicious, I got one with rice and chicken and lamb and I was full and there was extra and also only cost 14 or 13 for 1. Must try. Also the service was so nice they even gave us free sauce.

Google
Overall a really great experience: food is fresh, fantastic and flavorful. It’s a fine run machine, the line moves quickly for ordering, prices are just right, portions are generous, tables are spread out and ceilings are high so the place is not loud meaning you can have a conversation as you eat, they have a bus staff clearing tables and sanitizing tables in between customers. I will be back! I highly recommend the Chicken Shawarma and Hummus platter that comes with a huge portion of both and warm pitas. It was so delicious!! There is also a large parking lot which makes it easy to get a spot. I noticed lots of people picking up food for carry out and tons of people eating in on a Saturday evening.

Google
The food was very delicious. The lunch special is a great deal and allows you to try all the different meats. What made this lunch amazing was an employee in the dining area. He greets you with a smile and treats you like family. He takes cares of you like the best customer. Thank you Latif. The food is great but you won me over as a loyal customer.

Google
Pita Inn in Skokie is a spacious and no-frills spot for a delicious Mediterranean meal. The lamb kebab was a standout - well-seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. Portions are generous & overall a great choice for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

Google
Not only was the food so delicious the service was as well, Liatf was so welcoming and helping. He was such a delight. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Very nice place. Very traditional great tasting Mediterranean Food! It's kinda confusing ordering or perhaps with a large group. I'm glad I explored something new and different!

Update: The amazing employee mentioned below is Latif. Pita Inn (Skokie) A Stellar Experience The food at Pita Inn (Skokie) has consistently been exceptional, and the service has always been top-notch. We've always enjoyed the casual dining experience where we order and find a seat. However, our recent visit was truly outstanding. During their lunch rush, a staff member (perhaps a new expediter) went above and beyond. Seeing us arrive with three young children, he quickly rearranged tables to accommodate us. He took our ticket after we placed our order, efficiently collected our food, and provided exceptional service, including prompt drink refills, extra napkins, and plates. (something they never did before) For a moment, we felt like we were dining at an upscale restaurant! High recommended! The staff member's attentiveness and professionalism made the entire experience incredibly stress-free for our family. We're now willing to travel an extra 30 minutes to dine at this location whenever we crave their delicious Middle Eastern cuisine.

Google
Authentic and reliably good middle-eastern food. The staff are always helpful and friendly. This place is busy all the time for a reason — it’s good quality and priced well without unnecessary extras. They are authentically focused on their craft (food) without being overtly political (which is pleasant). The place has a lot of seating and exceptional service (even as it’s a counter service format restaurant).

Yelp
Can I just start by saying OUR FAMILY LOVES PITA INN! So much so that I made a "Pita Inn" t shirt for my brother for his birthday. We grew up with the Pita Inn in Wheeling, but since I now live in Chicago I visit the Pita Inn on Dempster in Skokie. What's not to love? The hummus is the best in the city. And my current favorite is the beef shawarma sandwich. Such great flavor, so delicious. So many great options on the menu... check out the weekday lunch specials! A special shout-out to Latif, who is so friendly and kind. He always helps us out by picking up our food, grabbing whatever we need (mmm more tahini please, yum!), and clearing our dishes. We look forward to seeing his friendly face every time we visit (which is often)! :-)

Yelp
Pita inn is one of my favorite places to have Mediterranean food. It's high quality fast food. This restaurant almost has a high end feel, with the exception of the classic PA order # call out. -- but that's part of the pita Inn charm. I a devote of the lunch special for $799. On the weekend the offer the combo platter, same at the mon-friday lunch special but even larger servings! The hot sauce is on point and can be balanced by their yogurt counterpart to tame the burning of your mouth!! It's hard to be disappointed with anything on the pita inn menu. If you're new or a Mediterranean savant you need to come and check this place out if you've never been.

Yelp
Great food at a great price!! Been eating there for along time. They are very fast and efficient. Terrific for the family

Walter A.

Yelp
Latif is a really pleasant guy. he greets you with kindness and the service oh my goodness so good. i felt like we known each other for years. he came and ask if we needed something and he actually get it for us. this is my go please for mediterranean food. latif, you are the man!

Karyn M.

Yelp
My friend picked up my go-to combo-- the vegetarian combo which includes falafel, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, baba ghannoug, Jerusalem salad, tabbouleh and pita. They also included tahini and hot red sauce and a special container of pickles and olives. This is a great sampler because it's got all of the good stuff, with very generous portions to boot. Except the baba ghannoug--I could drink that stuff--I love the silky smoky smoothness of it. The same goes for the hummus--I've considered getting a part-time job there so I could find out the secret to the hummus--my all-time favorite. I forgot -- camera eats first --but remembered to snap a photo before I demolished it.

Yelp
I am surprised that this Pita Inn only has 1k reviews given how long it's been around but not surprised that's it has an average 4.5 star rating. All 4.5 well earned. I have recently been coming here a lot and predominantly get their Fattoush salad with chicken shawarma and in addition to the chicken being flavorful, it's also a very large helping for being fairly inexpensive. Usually salads leave you hungry or craving for more but not this one. Sadly I don't have a pic. Today I returned for their business lunch special and it's so much food (meat specifically) for just $10! I do remember the time when this same combo was $5.49 about 15 years ago but given inflation , it's a small increase to current pricing. The lunch special which there are 4 to pick from offers a lot of variety of meats, falafel etc and includes pita, Rice and salad along with tahini and hot sauce. Service is quick and efficient. I would give it another star since they were open Christmas Eve & Day, NYE and Day.

Andrew M.

Yelp
I would get a tattoo of Pita Inns logo if it meant I would get Pita Inn for life. There is also something to be said about the people that make up this organization. The man in my picture is Latif. Latif makes me feel like a king whenever I come here. He greets me, helps bring my food to a table and asks if I need anything else. Just like in sports there are "unmeasurables" that contribute to a teams success, Latifs warmth and hospitality is an unmeasurable that has contributed to helping Pita Inn succeed.

Reema G.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, I was very pleasantly surprised with this place!! It's a very casual, order at the counter and pick up your food when they call your number type of place. I ordered the falafel plate and my husband ordered the lamb plate. When I tell you that this is probably some of the best falafel I've ever had, I literally mean it! I wasn't expecting something so amazing at a restaurant like this. The prices are all reasonable, the portions are very big and you'll even have left overs to take home! As you can see from the pictures, the lamb plate came with SEVEN pieces of grilled lamb!! And the falafel plate came with an equally large portion as well! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Sam H.

Yelp
The business lunch special is so much food for a good deal. They are well staffed at lunch time and very fast with food. One downside is that since it is in the suburbs, the parking lot gets full very fast with single occupant vehicles going there during lunch. I go here 3-4 times a year and I'm always satiated.

dean p.

Yelp
Food was fast, best falafel's ever! The combo lunch special was fun but without the beef and extra chicken. Don't miss the hummus.

Afsheen G.

Yelp
Simply the best fast Mediterranean food! Never disappoints! We love the combination plate and my one year old enjoys the lentil soup.

Shalmali P.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant in Skokie - it's a huge place and pretty neat and clean. This is a self-service type restaurant. We ordered Falafel Sandwich which was good. Also had Spicy Chicken Shawarma Entree - it had strong taste of turmeric which was pretty overpowering. It also came with side salad which didn't feel so fresh. Lastly, we had Kinafa which was a little too sweet for me, but was fine for my husband. Would love to come back and try other items on the menu.

Sheila T.

Yelp
Awesome service and delicious foods! They also offer food that's healthy! Today, this is essential. If you haven't been to Pita Inn , you're missing a FANTASTIC experience!!

Nancy R.

Yelp
Fast and decent tasting food. Great fast food alternative. I've been here a few times and they're pretty consistent so I recommend.

Dipali P.

Yelp
If you are looking for your next Mediterranean spot, this place is IT. Excellent and fast service, reasonable prices, and great food! I also appreciate that there is plenty of seating inside. I went into and ordered a spicy chicken shawarma sandwich. It was ready in 5 minutes and I was able to go to the counter to pick it up. The sandwich looked good and it came with the spicy sauce on the side. I was a bit skeptical at first if it was going to match the heat that I wanted, but boy was I wrong. I only put a little bit of the sauce on the sandwich and my mouth was on fire. The chicken itself was very tender as well and the pita was so soft. Excellent food and I will definitely be back to try more items on their menu!!

Hirangi P.

Yelp
Latif was so helpful and so attentive. He really made our meal so easy enjoyable. Would come back just for him!

Jennie M.

Yelp
After trying everything in their feast, I fell in love with their chicken tenders! They are so tender, juicy and flavorful! I like that you can order just pieces and not a whole meal. I also love love love their rice! They offer it as just a side. I could eat it every day!

Eileen K.

Yelp
Excellent fresh food as always. Service in restaurant is good & carry out is excellent too. Shwarma is my favorite.

Renee P.

Yelp
Delicious, speedy and affordable! Stopped here at 3pm on a Saturday and they were surprisingly busy for that hour but we got our food within 5-10 minutes. There is plenty of space for seating and the food tasted fresh and was a great value and quantity for the price. I got the Jerusalem falafel sandwich and my boyfriend the spicy chicken shawarma plate and miraculously still had some leftovers (which is rare for us). Looking forward to coming back next time we're in Skokie!

Vibha B.

Yelp
Pita Inn is a bustling gem, and the veggie plate with tender, fresh falafel and delightful hummus is a go-to. Although rice was missing this time, the plant-based chicken plate, with its impressive soy-based texture and flavor, was a pleasant surprise. True, the service was a tad slow amidst the crowd, but the taste made up for it. The ambiance, typical of Pita Inn, didn't disappoint, and the charming bubbling sign added a touch of nostalgia. A solid choice for a satisfying Mediterranean experience!

Cher G.

Yelp
In a conversation about how much I was enjoying my food, I was asked, "you've never had pizza in?" No, I had not, and I'm not sure what I've been doing all my life without Mediterranean like this. Great portion, great taste

Loren H.

Yelp
Pita Inn is so good. The lunch specials are $9.99, and they're huge plates! The employees are all very friendly. The food, of course, is always delicious. What's not to like about this place?!

Ann Y.

Yelp
Fabulous, delicious, and amazing!! I highly recommend everything! The food is very fresh.

Ernie H.

Yelp
If you're looking for fresh Mediterranean( Middle Eastern) food with out the fuss you've come to the right place. The space is big and airy. While the prices are not cheap neither are they expensive. Even the side salad that came with the shrimp kabob with red and yellow peppers top with tortillas chips were excellent. The shrimps were generously seasoned and was terrific. I love the yellow rice - tasty, subtle, moist, yummy. We also got the combo feast of beef shawarma ,Chicken, shish kabob and kefta kabob all were flavored to perfection except for the kefta kabob - definitely had better. All the trimmings this comes with can almost feed 2 people. I know it's a chain but there not enough around so I did a review. You should check this place out.

Ram D.

Yelp
There are Mediterranean restaurants and then there is Pita Inn. This was the restaurant that introduced me to home style Mediterranean cuisine many (many, many) moons ago and set a high bar for tasty, inexpensive and simple food. Their vegetarian combo is among the best both content and flavor wise and their spicy red sauce on the side is a nice touch. It's pretty basic service wise (order at counter and pick up to sit down). The tables and dining area are usually spotless. They have expanded to two more locations (progressively larger spaces) but have maintained their consistency and affordability. There are definitely more innovative and fancier Mediterranean joints in town but Pita Inn has to be at the top for every day food.

Maria Y.

Yelp
super delicious food. The staff is always very nice and quick. Clean restaurant. they have a great lunch special during the week i recommend. This is a regular for my family and I. Highly recommend for middle eastern food.

Farzeen

Yelp
Recommended. Very close to me, massive location. It's always busy, always bright. I've been going there for 7 years now. I've been ordering the same 1 dish (Hummus & Shawarma) ever since I love it. Some people in my family dislike it because they think the meat is dry. The shawarma is just small pieces of chicken, so it's not dry, and you have the hummus to go with it anyway. So, if you don't prefer dry meat, then I'd just stick with that. It's hit Every Single Time I've had it. Its greatest quality is how fullfiling and nutritional it is.

Yaminee P.

Yelp
Pita Inn is a great lunch/ dinner spot in the Chicago suburbs area. I visited here before a long flight to grab a bit to eat with my family. Food: we got a spread of falafel sandwiches, hummus, pita, fried, and lentil soup. The pita itself was soooo soft and delicious! I also loved the hummus and how it was seasoned. The sandwiches were great but I do wish there were also options to add pickles, onions, beets, etc. I'm a sucker for a good lentil soup and this one hit the spot. Everything was enhanced by the hot sauce and tahini they provided with everything. The entire menu was also reasonably priced. Ambiance: I think this place was recently renovated or they restaurant moved here because it's HUGE! There is a ton of seating so I would encourage large parties. It was clean and they have a speaker to call out orders but it isn't obnoxious. They also have light music playing and lots of windows for sunshine. Service: there was 1 gentleman working the dinning room and he was an all star. He was on top of everything from silverware and drinks to getting orders out quickly. He was holding the door open for folks and greeting regulars. Love to see incredible people working with heart! 1 super small nit pick - they put all there sauces in individual plastic containers which ends out being an incredible amount of waste and they also use styrofoam cups for water. I wonder if they would have a self serve "salsa bar" kind of set up where people could take whatever amount they want in ramekins or something. I understand the plastic cups for take out but I think they could save some plastic for dine in guests. Overall, my family gave this place a resounding 5/5 stars and we are planning to come back after our vacation in a few weeks. This will definitely become our regular spot any time we have to go to O'Hare.

Josh G.

Yelp
Just as consistent and great as their other locations throughout the suburbs. The chicken breast/tender and shwarma entrees are my go-to's, served with generous servings of yellow rice, salad, tahini, and their homemade hot sauce. I don't know what's in the rice but it's so addicting and perfectly fluffy. Price and portion is fantastic relative to other middle eastern restaurants in the area. Definitely will be coming back to this location if I'm in Skokie.

Gabriela R.

Yelp
Love the food!! Great prices and servings!! And quick take out service!! And the specials are a great bargain!

ak a.

Yelp
Falafel is very, very good. I enjoyed the lunch special (served until 3p, $13.xx) which included chicken and falafel, pita, rice and salad. Well seasoned and fresh. Tahini sauce is very tasty. Order extra and add a hot sauce when you order! Service is relatively quick. To dine in, order at the counter and pick up there. Music was loud, so I couldn't hear them call my number. As a result, people are going up to the counter to ask what number was called while standing/talking over your food for pick up. Table attendants very attentive.

Cheryl S.

Yelp
Food was inexpensive and . Good value also. Go to Zads also. Avoid lunch as it is crazy busy

Karen F.

Yelp
Food made me sick to my stomach within minutes of eating the lunch special the only thing special about it was the diarrhea that it left me with all night! Clean your kitchen! Report to DOH

Jana P.

Yelp
We love the food at Pita Inn, especially the Schwarma and the shrimp kebab entree. But we really come to see the wonderful Latif!! He is the best employee and is always taking care of all the clients and making everyone feel special and important. Latif is one of the best and most dedicated employees I have ever seen in any establishment. Pita Inn, i hope this lovely man is in line for a promotion!! He is bringing in so many repeat clients and makes the experience amazing.

Olga K.

Yelp
Latif was incredible!! So welcoming and helpful. Food was delicious, as always but the service is what stands out as always. Best location hands down.

Tony G.

Yelp
I dislike the uncle Ben style rice. The food is decent, service is exceptional. Great value and usually fresh.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Huge shout out to this restaurant and Latif, who was so friendly and helpful during our visit. He was incredibly conscientious about bringing us what we needed and taking such good care of the restaurant's patrons. Thank you Latif and Pita Inn!

Jimmy Y.

Yelp
Latif is da man! Food is consistently on point but Latif elevates the experience! Had kefta and the baba was especially tasty today

Kathleen T.

Yelp
Great, GREAT food and menu selections. We had the chicken tenders entree and lentil soup. Both so light and flavorful, and the chicken was so tender. And the staff! The staff is so incredibly friendly! My adult kids who live out of town now, make it a point to stop there as they roadtrip back home!

Cristina H.

Yelp
Great service. Thank you Mr. Latif! Great food! Best business lunch ever-price and quality-can't bear it. Enjoyed baklava n hot mint tea..

Sumit D.

Yelp
Love the food and we pick up often after kids classes. However, eating in is even better. There is an amazing server, Latif...he always takes care of all customers- always running around with a smile, and catering to their needs. Love the experience!

Sophie T.

Yelp
I gotta say I'm very impressed, it was my first day today . I was impressed with Latif. He greeted as, was extra welcoming, asked if we needed anything a couple of times. It's really hard these days to find someone who respects a mother coming in with her kids. He was so patient, did everything we asked for including grabbing high chairs. This certainly will not be my last time but i will probably show here two times a week.

Aaron L.

Yelp
Their lunch specials are always the go to and they never disappoint. The staff is friendly and super patient. The restaurant itself has always been very clean and while it is a little chaotic during lunch, the food never disappoints.

Neelam B.

Yelp
Pita Inn left a fantastic impression on me. The falafel was incredibly flavorful, with a perfect blend of spices. The pita pockets were soft and paired well with the various sauces offered. The speedy service ensured I didn't have to wait long to savor these delights. I was particularly impressed with how efficiently they managed to serve their customers without compromising quality. The overall experience was a testament to their dedication to both taste and service. If you're looking for a place with delectable falafel, delightful pockets, and quick service, Pita Inn is definitely worth a visit.

Esther L.

Yelp
My family loves the business lunch special. Skokie is the org location and they moved to this building a few years ago. idk how we didn't know about it when we lived in Skokie. They have a separate store a few blocks away on Dempster. Went today ~2:30pm and a pre-covid meet up dinner with a college friend. Both times were crowded and hard to hear/talk. Lines to order were long, but moved fast. There's an open fridge with bottled drinks, but you can get a cup of Pepsi pops / Tamarind juice / mango drink self serve, so with refills. Wheelchair accessible, but my newer/bigger power wheelchair could not turn around in the women's bathroom accessible stall.

Kate S.

Yelp
Just another note 3 years after our last Pita Inn catering event to say that Pita Inn is still awesome. Everyone loved the food, it was super easy to place an order, and they provided huge portions so that 65 hungry grad students were amply satiated. Their vegetarian and preferred packages provides a great variety, perfect for accommodating all sorts of dietary needs. Always a trusty go-to for catering (and for individual meals, because let's be real: I would eat Pita Inn every day if I could and am a frequent visitor).

Daniel N.

Yelp
stopped in for lunch and the food was delicious and affordable. I sat in Latif's section and it only enhanced my experience. He is incredibly attentive and friendly. personifies hard working.

Lillian Z.

Yelp
Haven't eaten inside in quite sometime but went there today with my dad and my son. Food was delicious (of course) and came out quick. I was pleasantly surprised by the service as well. Latif was wonderful. Brought over to go containers promptly... I don't have to get up and ask. He was so kind and attentive and asked if we needed anything. I think I'll be eating inside again real soon! Kudos Latif!

Carol S.

Yelp
Always love the food here, very fresh , plus I do like Mediterranean food! Service is attentive, when I'm there it's always pretty busy!! I've told a number of folks they should try it out, and I've had feedback that they also enjoyed the food !! So a BIG PLUS FOR PITA INN!!!

Shubham A.

Yelp
Food is awesome. And you will have variety of options and everything is good. Nice ambiance. Setup and staff is nice. Fairly priced. Definitely recommend and you will add it to your to go list.
