Pacific Rim Cajun Kitchen and Sports Bar Is Now Closed - Eater Austin

"Food truck PitaLicious is opening a physical restaurant this year, according to Community Impact. It will be found in far north Austin at 4101 West Parmer Lane. Like its other two South Austin trucks (on South First and South Congress), it will serve Middle Eastern fare like wraps filled with shawarma, hummus, gyro, and falafel. It’s due to open sometime in the summer. (A scene outside of Pitalicious’ former on at the SoCo Trailer Yard was featured in director Terrence Malick’s Austin-set film Song to Song)." - Nadia Chaudhury

Absolutely delicious! The freshness and authenticity of the food a Pitalicious Mediterranean Kitchen is incomparable. Our teenagers especially loved their falafels. My personal favorite is their chicken and garlic sauce! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Google
We ordered from here to server 30 people at our clients meeting. It was so good fresh and delicious. The food was top quality and fresh. I highly recommend PitaLicious and will be. ordering again soon. Thank you

I recently visited this location with family and friends. We all enjoyed our food and the service was good. We ordered falafel, lamb swarma, chicken salad and a chicken swarma wrap. The meat was really well prepared and the sauce was delicious.

Google
This is the best pita I've ever had. My only regret is that I ate it too fast. If you're on south Congress you've got plenty of good restaurant options, but this one takes the cake. Well priced, generously portioned, and perfect taste.

I hate to leave bad reviews on businesses, specially those who are deemed “family owned”, but this time I just can’t help Starting by the fact that I live across the street from the strip mall where this place is located, I always wondered if it was worth give it a try, so I finally did, and to say I got disappointed, it’s an understatement I ordered a Gyro plate, with a side hummus and falafel, and pita bread Honestly, they tasted like reheated leftovers, there wasn’t anything fresh about it, I think the only “fresh” thing was the salad, everything else seems like they put it in the microwave to reheat it, the meat, the rice, the falafels, and let’s not talk about their pita bread, which was cold and stale, ironic for a business that claims to prepare everything from scratch I don’t know if it wasn’t my lucky day or what, but I wasn’t expecting this place to be so bad, the attention was subpar too, not even one time they asked if I needed anything else, and the atmosphere in general is kind of depressive Based on other reviews, seems like they use to be good back in the day, but I guess they don’t care about quality anymore, and those reviews are at least from 2 years ago, most recent ones are not as favorable, and neither is mine since they don’t seem to care about offering actually fresh food anymore Going to my black list of non-recommended places to eat 🚫👎🏼

Google
Family owned place that has fresh and tasty fare. We ordered the lamb gyros and very much enjoyed them. The only feedback I have is the fries we got we're pretty much unseasoned and the pita wasn't as warm as I would have liked it. Will be back again to try the special!

Google
Begin from Detroit, this is the closest taste to home I have found in austin. The atmosphere is quaint and I recommend going inside just for the smells if you can. They have savory meat cones and prompt service! I will definitely coming back for more of a genuine taste of home.

Carlos

Google
Got food at their food truck, pretty terrible. Ridiculous waits compared to the number of people who were waiting, and my (very lukewarm/cold) lamb gyro that came with 'fries' came with one fry. When I brought it up, the cook said that's all he had. Can't believe I paid 7$ for this terrible wrap that didn't come as advertised. Hope they never come to UT again.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, a "post-COVID take out only" visit. We had a very pleasant visit with the owner, who walked us through many of the items on the menu. Being a victim of "Americanized" Mediterranean food, my ideas about what Med dishes were, what dishes were made of, and how dishes were really served, was way off. The great conversation led us to order probably more than we needed, but, hey, the leftovers were fantastic too. Lamb and beef gyro meats were seasoned well, balanced, the falafels (vegan) were great, and the baba ghanouj (try spelling that without looking it up!) was incredible. Pitas were fresh, light and delicious. We tried 3 of the 4 sauces on hand, tzatziki (another spelling challenge!), tahini and garlic, all very good. All the food was made to order and delivered to our car in about 10 minutes. This is a local business guy, working very hard to provide our area with 1st class Med-inspired cuisine. We loved it. Stop by and you will make it a regular stop too.

Yelp
I am not going to lie I was in the mood for good Mediterranean food and thought I'd stop on here.. Unfortunately I was sadly disappointed. This restaurant was very bland and the gyro plate and hummus had virtually no flavor. Fries were sub standard. It's sad as I usually love this type of food and tend to be lenient when I am hungry... oh well... I tried this place and never again.. alternatives to this in austin area are halal bros or kismet cafe...

Yelp
This place is wonderful! Everything is home made and I haven't had a dish that wasn't delicious. My favorite is the Kafta kebab wrap. That garlic sauce!

Christopher P.

Yelp
Treat yourself to some wonderful food and support a local family business. Menu has a variety of traditional favorites.

Yelp
Fresh, quality ingredients and very tasty. I had the lamb gyro with rice/salad and all the sauces. The sauces were homemade and really good! The only thing is i think the portions could be a bit larger and maybe add a pita with bowls. I will be back to try the gyro wrap next!

Shane T.

Yelp
Very slow service, very unprofessional and inappropriate staff. Very small portions for price. Poor COVID precautions in place.

Anne M.

Yelp
Food okay, but service is slow. Also, there is always a large white Tundra pick-up truck parked in front, every time I try to go. obviously, someone that works there. Hey, park away from your business so that customers can park in front and also so that your business can be seen from the parking lot/street. Just rude business practice. went to the Thai restaurant next door instead - delicious.

Yelp
I had the chicken shawarma wrap and it was delicious! The guy at the counter was extremely nice. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
I have moved to Austin three years ago, and have not had really good Mediterranean food till now. This place has delicious food with outstanding service. I recommend this restaurant to anyone

Surekha M.

Yelp
Very disappointing. These guys have potential but they need to improve. Ordered 2 wraps at 11:50AM and they are still making them at 12:20. Restaurant opened at 11:30 but they don't have chicken for shawarma at 11:50. Person that made the wrap was not wearing any gloves ‍‍

Arber G.

Yelp
The food, the place looked NOTHING like the pictures. First impression: does not look neat and clean. When we entered, all the dishes on the platters (salads / feta / dips) on the trays were almost empty and pieces of salads were everywhere. I wanted to turn around but my husband wanted to give it a try. We both ordered Lamb Gyro because she couldn't make the other dish I wanted. They "preferred" only to make them for dinner. Then they should have different lunch/dinner menu's if they cant prepare them. Once we got the meat. The meat was cold. No flavor, had to add a lot of salt. Literally just ate a few bites and left it. The aftertaste is just indescribable. NEVER EVER COMING BACK.

Kristi H.

Yelp
The lamb gyro shawarma wrap was soooo good I definitely want to come back and try more items on the menu. If more are this good I might change the 4 stars to a 5.

Kim G.

Yelp
First of all, we love the fact that this is a family run business, not a franchise or a big chain. The beef shawarma gyros are delicious. Baclava is awesome too. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Support your local establishments, Austin! This is a good one.

Yelp
Stopped by for something fresh after spending all day on the lake. It was exactly what we were looking for! The gyro and falafel were both amazing, I highly recommend the salad bowl. The hummus was great and the pitas were warm and fresh

David T.

Yelp
Very rude and obnoxious lady "owner " . I've never encountered someone soooooo Rude and can care less more than this lady. The pita was cold and no ice in soda machine. It's free to be nice to customers.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered a lamb salad. Lettuce had brown pieces. Lamb was retrieved from in the back where I assume it was heated in the microwave. It was old and leathery. Pita bread was also dried out and hard even after heating. They neglected to ask me if I wanted something to drink and left me to find silverware and napkins. No good reason to ever return to this place.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. We got hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel and beef shawarma. We love all of them. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I tried the falafel wrap . It was soo good their spice sauce is amazing. Wraps are huge ! Very tasty great place to stop in for a quick bite. Really nice and chill vibe .

Yelp
I hate to leave a mediocre review for a family run place but ... we went on Sunday and it was just ok. We got 2 steak wraps, one chicken wrap, 2 fries, a Greek salad and 4 fountain drinks. Our total was $63. So that was the first downer. The prices for what you get are very high. Skip the fries! Tasteless and way overpriced! The second downer was that it took over 30 minutes to get our food. This is a counter service restaurant so they really need to either get some help or refine their systems. Third, the Greek salad was large but they forgot the feta so basically it was a $10 bowl of lettuce. When we asked for the feta the waitress (owner?) disappeared for 10 more minutes only for them to come out and say they had no feta. What? Fourth, I must say I was expecting a lot more flavor from the wraps. They just seemed bland and ordinary. In the end he did bring us a free sample of the baklava (delicious!) to attempt to make up for it. I'm disappointed but will surely give them another try to see if it was just an 'off' day.

Amy P.

Yelp
Delicious and fast! Their pitas are savory and filling, and the baklava is the real deal. Amazing and kind service too. I'll be back very soon!

Yelp
I like this place , they welcome me when I got in. I had the lamb gyro , they cut it from the spin and take it to the back to cook it well done. And I ordered the hummus good flavor. I recommend this place.

Yelp
Been here twice now, staff is super friendly, family run small business, great people and I like the food. I've order lamb gyro both times, delicious each time. If you like spicy food this is a great pick for lunch!

Grace R.

Yelp
Great quality food, fresh, and homemade! I recommend getting the falafel, the lamb gyro, or the beef steak wrap! The owners are a very nice couple and always offer a warm greeting when you walk in.

Yelp
Let me save you all from the tragedy that is PitaLicious by explaining my experience here. I went in there once before during some time back and they told me it'd be at least a 40 minute wait, so I didn't bother at the time. I went back today with a co-worker in hopes to get to try it out and to my delight, there was only one couple in the entire place, so I was excited to not have to wait. We ordered Take-Out. My order was Pita with Hummus, and a Lamb Shawarma Bowl, over Salad, with no Black Olives. My co-worker ordered the Beef Shawarma Bowl over rice. With no one else there, we still waited almost 30 minutes to get our take-out orders. My co-worker got chicken instead of beef. The lamb in my dish was all the burnt, dry stuff on the outside of the rotisserie Gyro meat. Every other place I have ever been to always cut away the burnt dry stuff and served me the good juicy stuff closer to the center. It was hardly edible, and my plastic-ware fork almost broke trying to stab it. The Salad beneath, to no one's surprise, contained Black Olives. And for some reason, instead of fresh cucumbers, there were sliced pickle spears. Who does that!? I actually like pickles so I figured I'd try one. I am not sure what they marinate their pickles in but I almost had to spit it out immediately, and rinse my mouth out. It was absolutely disgusting! The Pita Bread was like leather. I'm not sure it qualifies as bread. And the dressing they gave me was not good either. Gordon Ramsay would be disgusted, as am I. Some people have no business being anywhere near a kitchen. This was by far one of, if not the absolute worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. I can't imagine they'll stay open long. I'll never go back.

Yelp
I got chicken shawarma over salad. Chicken was not cooked well and the place was not clean.

Hopi B.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh and authentic Mediterranean food. So good!!! We've had the lamb, beef and falafel gyros and they are some of the best I've had.

Stormi B.

Yelp
This little spot on W Parmer is very good. They have really nice portions and very good food. Their lamb gyro was huge. I give this place 5 stars!

Zeid A.

Yelp
The owner was very welcoming and the food was authentic and great. I loved the chicken and beef kabob. Their garlic and hot sauces were great. We also ordered Fattoush salad and it was amazing. Will definitely recommend it.

j S.

Yelp
Sometimes you just need a lamb gyro!! The service was very good... perhaps a good place to stop when fighting traffic on Parmer!

Chathura R.

Yelp
This place is superb. Family owned place and has to be one of the best, (if not THE best) Mediterranean food places in ATX. Highly recommended.

Emily G.

Yelp
My aunt and I ate here for lunch. We both ordered the falafel wraps. The staff is super kind and the food was delicious! Definitely coming back.

Ale V.

Yelp
This place is subpar... wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. Just OKAY. I think the worst part of my experience was paying $3.30 (SO over priced) for a side of french fries that did NOT have a decent amount inside the bowl. On top of that, the fries were bland and tasteless. They were nothing special at ALL. Disappointed:/
