The 38 Best Restaurants in Honolulu, Hawai‘i | Eater

"On a hip corner of Chinatown, restaurateurs Danny Kaaialii and Jonny Vasquez set up the Daley and Pizza Mamo, serving hyper-focused, platonic ideals of smash burgers and pizza, respectively. With Pizza Mamo, Kaaialii and Vasquez teamed up with pizzaiolo Matthew Resich to create thin-crust Brooklyn-style pies and thick, crispy cheese-crowned Detroit pizzas that are some of the best you’ll find on or off the island. Know before you go: The pizzas can take up to 30 minutes to make — order ahead online if you don’t want to wait." - Martha Cheng

Yea, the Detroit is actually Sicilian thickness, 1.5 inches. Fluffy inside, crispy, edges. Very good quality. But $30 for a takeout box size pizza is way overpriced. +$7 for parking. Skip this place unless you MUST have Sicilian.

Google
Ordered the Detroit honey creeper which my gosh for $30 not including tax, it is a tiny pizza. They really should put the dimensions or the actual pizza box somewhere on the counter so you know what youre getting. Funny how the new york style is labeled as 16in but no size description for the Detroit style listed. To save you the trouble, it's 7 x9 in. When we were initially handed the box, I honestly thought it was just napkins and utensils inside it was so small. The pizza itself tasted good but would I go back and spend $33 on that. No way. I can get a Bostons pizza that's just as good and will actually more than feed 2 people.

Super delicious Brooklyn style pepperoni pizza! They also offer Detroit style pizzas. Service was very kind and prompt. Good music playing and a very calm vibe overall. My daughter and I loved eating here!

Came here craving Detroit Deep Dish style pizza with my foodie friend and braved the usual Honolulu Chinatown homeless and vagrants walking to Pizza Mamo, since its on Hotel Street. That being said, it was worth the experience. Tried a slice of the Potato Pizza (interesting) and ordered a Detroit style Pepperoni Pizza to share which we enjoyed 🍕 Service like people mention is hit or miss, but they answered our questions. Pizza was good though the dough was a bit chewy as compared to what im used to...4 stars.

Google
I walked out with a receipt for $30.27, $27 pizza, $1.27 tax, $2 tip, only to see my bank post $34.81. That’s a blatant $4.54 rip off. When I rang back the girl at the register was startlingly rude, no apology, zero empathy, just “Email us - the manager is busy.” Busy padding tabs it seems. The pizza itself is just okay, but their billing scam and that cashier’s contempt ruin the experience. I’m attaching screenshots of both my receipt and the unauthorized charge. I’ve already launched a bank dispute and if they don’t refund me ASAP the Better Business Bureau (BBB) will hear about it. Do yourself a favor skip this place. Plenty of joints can do math and still remember you’re a customer not an ATM.

Google
Best NY style pizza on Oahu hands down. Worth the price. Freshness and flavor met and exceeded expectations for pizza on Hawaii. Definitely worth your time visiting Pizza Mamo, especially if you’re from the north east

Google
Decent pizza, but Brooklyn definitely doesn't serve fluffy 16" slices for $5.50 or pies for $27. Crowded, but made to order and tasted really fresh.

An hour or so after driving from Egghead Café, I was a bit peckish and had Pizza Mamo on my list of places to visit for a quick bite in Honolulu. Parking was a bit tricky, but I found a wonderful emergency lane that I was able to park for a few minutes and walk into this wonderful smelling establishment. Fortunately for me, it wasn’t busy so I was able to order a quick slice to go. The staff was all engaged and various aspects of the business, everyone in a great mood sort of keeping the engine going. I waited a few hours to eat my slice, but when I did finally enjoy my slice while walking down the Waikiki beach, it was as delicious as I thought it would be… Crispy edges, zesty sauce, an overall flavorful slice of Sicilian pie. Very thankful that I stopped along the way to our hotel to grab a slice from this wonderful pizzeria and supporting a local Hawaiian small business.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place since before they even opened. I started hearing mixed reviews so I held off for a while. But after my tattoo appointment at Black Cat I was like "hey why not?" So my friend and I walked over to try it. It's a walk in and order kind of place. You can get full pies or certain slices ( I believe the choices change day to day). They had cheese, pepperoni, and mushroom & garlic. The prices are a little steep but I personally think for artisan pizza it's... fair ish. Like $23-$28 for a whole pie and $5.50+ per slice. They heat it up for you in the over when you order. The girl that took our order was super nice, too! I wish I took pictures but i got too excited lol. Thy use the tiny little cup pepperonis and the crust was really bubbly and crunchy. The mushroom and garlic was the star of the show though. I think it was sauce less but really flavorful! I'm heading to New York in a few months so I'll compare and report back to this haha. The pizza didn't hit the same the next day but it was still good. I'd recommend eating there if you can. It's kind of small and idk how busy it gets later lol. We went at like 2pm on a Sunday and it was fairly empty.

Yelp
On my way home from Chinatown, and not having had breakfast, I almost walked by this place for the umpteenth time, when I decided today was the day! I walked inside with my bag of produce, ready to find out what all the hype was about. There were only a few people dining in so I didn't have to wait long to be served. Taylor, the delightful lady who was in the process of putting orders together, greeted me and asked what I wanted to order. I had been looking at the menu and the slices sitting in the warmer right in front of me I asked what the most popular pizzas were and, without hesitation, said "Garlic Bomb" and "Honeycreeper". Both pizzas were in front of me (I had been eyeing the Garlic Bomb) and the Honeycreeper was in the warmer in front of me. I asked Taylor what was inside the Honeycreeper because it was a thick as a slice of lasagna!!! Besides cheddar cheese, there was mozzarella, pickled jalapenos, oregano, hot honey and surrounded by natural casing pepperoni (very crispy, I might add). SOLD!!!! I thanked Taylor profusely for her service and recommendations after she warmed up both pizza slices and I went on my way to my next errand before going home to dive into the slices. The "Garlic Bomb" is a thin-crust pizza, chock full of intense garlic flavor, and after the first bite of the "Honeycreeper" I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!!! The mixed flavors of hot and sweet, combined with the crispy, flavorful outside pepperoni crust was truly amazing. Mamo's Pizza is now my favorite pizza in this entire State. No kidding!

Yelp
Pizza Mamo ? More like Pizza Meh-Mo. I remember trying Mamo when it first opened a few years back. I didn't remember if it was good or bad, so today we thought we'd give it a go. We don't splurge on expensive pizza too often, when we do it's always from IliIli Cash & Carry and we're never disappointed. We hoped this would be the same. Unfortunately the Detroit Style Pesto & Sausage didn't meet the mark. It wasn't bad, was tasty, but in the way you'd find at a Nordstrom Cafe or something. Nothing to go out of your way for. The kicker the pizza is effectively a personal pan. On a hungry day I'd say the average adult could eat more than half of it. Tonight it stretched to feed two people no leftovers. Whereas a pizza at a place like IliIli or Boston's could feed 4 with a bunch of leftovers. Photo to compare the pizza is the size of a hand. Thankfully we weren't feeding a bigger group. Lastly, when checking out, the young man running the register asked me to wait while he figured out how to use it. When he finally helped me out, he flipped the screen asked me to sign quickly, the kicker he pre-selected a tip option instead of letting me pick one myself. Wasn't cool, could have easily tricked someone who was less observant. Automatically clicking a tip on takeout is uncalled for. In the end is this worth the trip to Chinatown, fighting parking for takeout? Not in my opinion. Would I be opposed to eating here if I was in the area? Not if I'm paying. With other great options I don't see us coming back.

Yelp
One of my favorite hidden gems maybe not so hidden anymore in HI. They have both Brooklyn and Detroit style pizza. Not a massive spot with seven tables. The zaaa is next level and can't recommend enough!

Yelp
My FAVORITE pizza spot on island. We had a little pizza party at work and Pizzq Mamo is by far my favorite and so delicious. The crust is crispy and a little thick. The pepperoni had a nice crunch to it. It almost tasted like it was deep fried, but it was SOOO good. The tomato sauce wasn't overwhelming and the cheese was perfect as well. Overall, I highly recommend and I would totally come back. Although, parking is a little bit of a hassle :(

Yelp
Located on Hotel Street next to Yakitori Hachibei and Manifest, Pizza Mamo has pizzas available by the slice as well as whole pies! Whole pies may take a while, highly recommend ordering online or calling ahead to place your order in advance. I decided to talk by to get pizzas by the slice for a late lunch. What is nice is that they reheat them in the oven when you order. I got a slice of the fungi (mushroom) pizza and a slice of the Detroit style sausage and pesto. Both were delicious! Definitely check them out if you are in the area. Cheers to Pizza Mamo!

Yelp
Excellent pizza! We have one Brooklyn and one Detroit and both were amazing! The service was great! The only thing I think could be improved is the tables and stools.they were super wobbly... still AMAZING!

Yelp
Small but cute place, only two people working but both were kind and it wasn't too busy. I'm not a fan of deep dish but my boyfriend loves it so we got one and it actually was so good! I also don't love large amounts of pesto but this was not overbearing and it was balanced so well with the red sauce and cheese.

Yelp
What a cute little joint serving fresh and delicious pizza. It's a bit on the pricey side but the quality makes up for it. Situated in the little downtown area near the bars, so of course a slice of pizza is worth the wait and money. Service was quick and ambiance was casual. Now I know where I'm going to come for a night recap after the bars!

Yelp
I was craving Jet's Pizza and if you have had them before you understand that their Detroit style deep dish pizza is very special. In Hawaii we do not have many pizza places that serve that style so I was surprised to find Pizza Mamo. After looking at their reviews online this was the best I was going to get. The location is in Chinatown and considering the street they are on, there isn't much parking close to just pop in and pick up and order. It required two people, one to drive and one to get out and grab the order. I ordered three Detroit style pizzas: cheese, sausage and pesto, and what I expressed to the person on the phone was the garlic bomb pizza if they could do it on the Detroit style which she confirmed. We got the pizzas home with still some heat to them. I was a little confused because it looked like two pizzas were the same. We ended up figuring that one was cheese and one was the garlic bomb however it looked nothing like the garlic bomb because it had red sauce all over it which we didn't want because my husband isn't a big fan of tomato sauce pizzas. I was also surprised at how small the pizza was for the price. Overall, this place did help curb my craving for a Detroit style pizza with that thick crust. I wish there was more crunch to ALL the edges and a little less fluff in the middle. It reminded me of eating a Focaccia bread, with a pizza topping. Also wish they had some homemade ranch to dip my pizza in. Too bad we didn't get the garlic bomb without tomato sauce. It would be really nice if one Detroit style offered a tomato-less option.

Yelp
Pizza Mamo is different from the other pizza places in downtown since they offer the Detroit-style which is a rectangular pizza with more bread. The bread is light with a good amount of tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. For the NY style, the crust is thin and chewy and I enjoy the potato pizza. You can order a whole pizza or purchase them by the slice. They have a limited staff so the wait time to order and for the food can be long. I've been here for lunch and I wish they had more tables for dining in. If you have 2 people, it's easy to get a table or share a table but if you have 3 or more, it might be best to do take out or come by 11:30 am. Everything here is self service so just order at counter, pick a table, get a cup water or buy a drink, wait till they bring you the pizza(s), eat, clean up and trash your items, and leave. When I ordered online for pick up, I parked on Nuuanu Ave and made someone run into the shop to pick up the pizza since there was no street parking available. The closest parking lot with cheap rates would be the Chinatown municipal lot on Maunakea Street between Hotel Street and S. King Street. It's a few blocks over and is safe to walk during the day time but I don't recommended walking alone after it gets dark.

Yelp
We loved it. Delicious! Sausage & Pesto Detroit style & slice of cheese.will be coming back to try the margherita.

Yelp
Pizza was good but service wasn't that great the guy who took our order didn't greet or smile at us it was just a vibe of get your pizza and get out vibe. We also ordered sodas they give out canned sodas which is fine but they gave us the cans when we ordered and the pizza took about 30 mins so we had pizza with warm sodas so not the best. Stools inside were super uncomfortable as well and were super wobbly. Overall wouldn't go back we only went because we seen people on tiktok recommended it.
google avatar

Marcy L.

Yelp
Food is pricey, but this is one of the few places where I genuinely think its worth your money. We didnt dine in but service seemed okay, inside is a little small so might be better to do take out instead of dining in. If you plan on eating make sure to order online first, maybe an hour earlier if can. They take at least half an hour every time we've ordered. Potato pizza was good. Would recommend the garlic bomb to anyone. Their Detroit style pizzas are um... not very good in my opinion. Very heavy on the dough and a little small. Not for me, but if you like really doughy pizzas maybe its for you! Will always come back once in a while.

Yelp
Quality of ingredients is excellent - too good for classic Detroit-style pizza, it fact. But it's good pizza, and satisfies the Buddy's and Jet's cravings even if it is not 100% accurate. I have grabbed slices and ordered a whole Detroit-style pizza. My go-to is to order a pizza online, eat half in the restaurant and take the rest home. It reheats well in the oven. I grew up in metro Detroit. This is a high-end take on Detroit-style pizza. It has a good balance of slightly sweet with a slight kick to it. The dough is not greasy at all, so you don't have that gross feeling like you have a tire in your stomach after eating it like Jet's or Buddy's. Pizza Mamo's dough is a little too thick and pillowy. The skin of the crust is too thin and smooth, so it's missing that crunchy, cratered feel and the grease saturating the dough. Classic Detroit style pizza has a dense crust with a thick caramelized layer and lots of grease pockets. That being said, greasy pizza is not healthy for me to eat so I feel less guilty eating here. The slices are about 65% size. I sent a picture to a friend and he said it looked like 2 slices trying to be 6. It's in Chinatown, so you'll need to grab a parking spot and walk a few blocks.

Sotha P.

Yelp
Was vacationing in Honolulu and was craving authentic pizza. And pizza mamo definitely hit the spot. Called them for pick up and the lady on the phone was incredible. Ended up with a New York and Detroit. Honestly this was the best thing I had on the island because a lot of food in Hawaii is really not that good.
google avatar

Michelle I.

Yelp
Tried for the first time in downtown Chinatown. I would recommend. Ordered Mamo Supreme. I liked that the dough was soft. The bottom had a little crunch to it but I wish it was a little crunchier to hold its form. In the menu, it offers buy by the slice, depending what's available. But when we got there, the slices were sold out and a new pizza option wasn't brought out until a little after we ordered. We ordered and ate there on a Saturday around 5:30pm. It took about 30-40 mins, so I recommend looking at the menu and ordering before over the phone if you want to eat there so you don't have a long wait. Inside is simple with 4-5 high chair table options. There's bathrooms available in back. There's dine in and take out but no delivery. Two beer options (Hana Koa Beer) and two wine options available. The beer glasses were smaller than a normal pint size. Parking is street or in one of the city or private lots.

Kainoa B.

Yelp
Chill Chinatown spot that offers whole pies or pizza by the slice. Known for their Detroit pizza which has the perfect crispy buttery crust and flavors that stand out it's a great quick stop when in the mood for quality pizza.
google avatar

Libby W.

Yelp
We were stoked to find this pizza place a few blocks from our hotel. There's not a ton of seating, but we got there right when they opened, so we were able to get a table in the window. Service was friendly and helpful. I'm normally not a Detroit-style pizza person, or a sausage-on-pizza person for that matter, but the Detroit sausage and pesto pizza was A.MAZ.ING and the perfect size for 2 people. Only gripe is that they were supposed to be open at the time we showed up (according to their website), but opened around 30 mins late. Island time, I guess. Def worth the wait, and look forward to eating here again next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Camilla T.

Yelp
Great service! The girl at the front was super nice. The restaurant is cute, small and clean. No mess under the tables either, which tells me they keep it clean! They had lots of pick up orders, which tells me this place is gooood. The pizza was 10/10. Flavor, immaculate. And the bread was soft and delicious. I'm definitely coming back here when I come back to Honolulu! P.S...you will have to wait like 20-30 mins for your pizza, because it's made fresh with fresh ingredients! But it's soooo worth it! Order on the phone if you're in a rush!
google avatar

Moana T.

Yelp
The food was good. I thought the Detroit pepperoni was tasty, but it wasn't served hot at all and I think it would've been better if it was fresher. The honeycreeper was really tasty, but if you can't handle a jalapeño it's not for you. The garlic bomb was a lot lighter than the bomb description. I think you'll be left looking for more garlic, cheese, or just craving meat. It is self serve for the most part so that was a little confusing when we had to clean up. If you are dining in it is quite warm so maybe don't stay there for too long or get your food to go. Overall it was a nice lunch, but it won't be my top choice when looking for a pizza spot.
google avatar

Kathy D.

Yelp
The sausage and pesto is AMAZING. You can really taste the quality cheese and sauce. I'd definitely recommend getting Detroit style, baked to perfection, they don't skimp on the edge cheese. The regular pizza is ok, nothing too special. Don't expect fast pizza, it'll take around 30 mins from order to get your pizza. So definitely recommend calling or ordering online in advance.
google avatar

Jean-luc P.

Yelp
Definitely one of the BEST pizzas on Oahu! I absolutely LOVE their Hot Honey Pepperoni! Their deep dish pizzas are delicious also! My only gripe is that for delivery, you have to use either Uber eats or Grub hub. I wish Pizza mamo would use some kind of security sticker or tape, to keep the pizza box sealed so delivery drivers cannot just open the box and pick at the toppings! The last peperoni pizza I ordered had about half the amount of pepperonis as usual, and It kind of looked liked the delivery driver had eaten some!!!! Please create security measures to keep the food secure against unscrupulous deliver drivers!!!!

Yelp
Loved their Garlic Bomb and have passed by to grab a slice. The garlic bomb sign was. Girl on break so male cook had to come out and I sensed he was more a behind the scenes player. I asked if he had Garlic Bomb slices since the sign was up. I waited for an answer while he had to turn a couple signs to find it and saw it was mistakenly still displayed, then just took it away, and didn't answer me. I guess I had to read his smug attitude. Then I asked him what are the 2 other available pies which I could see had slices removed from. He then removed another sign and said nothing again, so I was to read his cockiness that it was what was left but the Cheese pizza sign was faint and barely readable. So, catching the hint that he was not going to help me, I left. I have hyped this place to all my friends since it's a quick grab and go from my golf club, from the first time I tried it years ago, and then get this kinda service? We got the hint from this dude and moved on. We went to J Dolans and enjoyed an excellent Boardwalk Pizza and Spinach Ricotta. Boardwalk actually had fresh garlic and most of all, the service and bartenders were awesome - deserving a 25% tip. The ambiance here was also much happier.

Yelp
Super yummy pizza but if u don't want the full pie u need to go super early . Hard to find parking but better buy the whole pie and share with friends . 4 out of 5 for me bc I had better but definitely worth a try

Yelp
A coworker brought in the garlic bomb pizza a while ago and in my memory it was mind-blowing. And I don't even like pizza that much. Parking is terrible, but that's just chinatown. Dude was pretty cold and impatient. Brooklyn pizza and brooklyn attitude, what matters is the food. But overall it was just okay. I got a couple slices each for myself and my gf. Reheated it in the oven just until warm and it was tough and greasy. Halfway through I was tired of chewing. Microwaved another slice for a few seconds and the slice was a little softer but the edge crust was chewy. Garlic was few and far between but the four or five pieces of garlic I got were tasty at least. Same for the potato, it was just salty cheese but the three bites of rosemary I got were kinda good. Mushroom was pretty good imo, had a decent amount of toppings, and gf said the pepperoni was pretty good too. I guess I remembered it too fondly. Or we got the worst slices with sparse toppings.

Yelp
CODY stopped by for a few slices CODY ordered the garlic bomb and the pepperoni CODY slices were very tasty CODY counter person was friendly CODY dining area was clean and organized CODY will return to order more food

Yelp
Went for the first time today after being curious about this place for awhile. I got two slice of their 'Garlic Bomb' pizza, which was pretty good. I had a Pilsner to go with them, and ended up going back to the counter to order a salad and grab another beer. The salad was fairly simple but the dressing was insane! Not sure if it's made in house or store bought but I could drink a pint of that by itself. It was empty when I went in but by the time I left there was a decent amount of people in there enjoying a slice. Not the cheapest lunch, but I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Omg so delicious!! We got takeout from here and I can't wait to get pizza from here again! We got the Mamo supreme which was great. The garlic bomb was probably everyone's favorite though and one I would definitely get again! We also got the sausage and pesto Detroit style. I was nervous that it would be too thick of a crust but I still ate it and liked it haha. The pizza flavors are so good. All of the toppings were delicious. It was baked well, however that was done. Very good pizza.
google avatar

Dan A.

Yelp
Walked in and ordered Detroit squares along with a Brooklyn-style slice. Wait time was fine. Detroit & Sicilian are my favorite types of pizza and Pizza Mamo delivers a 98 mph heater on the former. Brooklyn is good as well. Cheese squares/slices are my default order...there's no need for extra toppings. Merch is cool...$25 for the tees. Tigers pennant? Well, they serve Detroit-style after all.
google avatar

H I.

Yelp
Yummy, they make it fresh! I had the deep dish w/pepperoni ($27) and the garlic bomb ($27) pizzas! Both pizzas were banging w/flavor. Crust is perfect! Great service! Tables w/stools to eat inside. Recommended.

Yelp
BEST PIZZA ON OAHU! We've tried them all and the Detroit-style pepperoni is AMAZING! Similar to Prince St pizza if you've ever tried it The only caveat is the parking. It's basically non-existent and tough to find in Chinatown
google avatar

Mina K.

Yelp
We ordered takeout and they work fast and efficient. The slice was very similar to NYC: big, thin, not too stiff from the oven. Would recommend this if you're going for a NY slice vibe!

Yelp
Let's start with what you want. It's the pizza good? Yes it's the best pizza I've had here since moving from the East Coast nearly 20 years ago. It's that where the review ends, no. Sadly that's where the good pay off the review ends. If you're coming here to buy whole pies to share, great. Prices are decent and the 16" pies are a great size ranging from$ $20 for a cheese slice to I think $28 for some is their specialty pies. What's on some of these specialty pies, you might ask? I have no idea because they didn't list any of the toppings on the menu. You're just supposed to know what a "honey creeper" or the "mamo supreme" is I guess. Sure you could ask the people behind the counter what's on it, but they'll probably grumble because you're some the ow inconveniencing them by being a paying customer. Seriously everyone working here, every time I've come here, seems like they would much rather be anywhere else doing anything else besides serving me and answering my questions. But back the pricing. A slice of cheese pizza (which is 1/8 of a pie) is $5! A Detroit style slice, which is much smaller, is nearly $8. Add on to that an overpriced canned soda from Maui brewing company (great sodas btw) and youre looking at an $18 meal. Might as well buy a whole cheese pizza for $2 more and forego the drink. It's pretty absurd. Seatibg is nice, it limited to 3 or 4 high top tables. They no longer share the outside space in the back and they will repeatedly tell you that no, you cannot get your pizza to go and eat it back there. (A lady asked while I was eating and the employee told her 4 times in a row, I kid you not). Will I go back? Probably. But I'll reserve it to just whole pie orders over the phone.
google avatar

Ko B.

Yelp
Horrible pizza and horrible customer service. If you like paying $27 for a Margherita pizza with barely any tomato sauce and no tomatoes, then come here. It's basically dough with cheese and a piece of basil. I showed the cashier my white pizza and she said she watched them make it with sauce so she knows it has sauce. I asked if we could have a little more sauce since there's no tomatoes and the pizza is white but she said I'd have to pay for it. If I didn't like it, I can email her boss with a complaint. The end. Ridiculous! Won't be coming back here ever.

Suri S.

Yelp
Haven't been back here in years! I forgot how good the pizzas here are. Drooling just thinking about it. You haven't lived until you have tried a DETROIT STYLE pizza! It is so delicious! We got the sausage and pesto and it was an explosion of flavor. Highly recommend if you would like to try. Thick crust. The only thing is that I wish there were more sausage toppings. I didn't feel like I tasted it in each bite. We also got the Brooklyn Style Garlic Pizza which was also tasty! They use cheese from Wisconsin - so you knows it'll be cheesy goodness. Only a few tables to sit inside. Service was nice and friendly! Pizzas only took about 15 minutes.

Yelp
Was looking for some good pizza for some very well-tested pizza connoisseurs. Ordered through Uber Eats bc I thought hey, a hybrid Napolitano/New York pizza would be aces. The delivery took a little longer than expected (and yes, I ordered priority) but whatever. The pizza was great, the crust was delicious and everyone went to bed with bellies full of pizza. What more can you ask for? Next time I am def trying the Detroit style - and yes, I've been to Detroit so know what it needs to be!

Yelp
Pizza is amazing. Everything is made fresh, so be prepared to wait a little, it's worth the wait. The neighborhood is developing, so don't be alarmed.

Yelp
Words can't describe what I just witnessed on one of my recent visits in the Chinatown area. So...I had a bucket list of specific areas to enter for to eat around that area. One of those places, I didn't realize where it was located at first, but somehow, I managed to navigate my way through that area and now all of a sudden, here I am. Pizza Mamo...a place known for their New York style slices, but also the Detroit Deep Dish pizzas as well. I came into this with an elusive mindset, especially given the expectations I was hoping for, given my first time there. So...me and a friend went over there and ordered their Detroit-style pepperoni pizza. I also got a salad (just to stay on the healthy side as well). I gotta say, presentation-wise, it looked so gorgeous, especially with the way the crust looked. You can certainly tell that this is the "real deal" when the crust looks like how a traditional Detroit Deep Dish pizza does it. This place definitely felt like eating at a pizzeria and definitely delivers on all facets. I strongly recommend this place if you want to find a good place that serves Deep Dish Pizza in Oahu.

Yelp
I've visited Pizza Mamo several times, so its about time I reviewed this establishment. Located directly on Hotel Street, there are municipal stalls and lots nearby. Since I've been in last, PM has brought back several tables so its possible to dine in. New attractions include: beer & slices, great for a pau hana meal! The main attraction for me is their Detroit-style pizza. During my five years living in Michigan, I learned to love this thick crust style (the only thick crust I enjoy) primarily because of the caramelization of the crust. Such a satisfying taste and crunch! We even had several Yelp events at Buddy's (one of the originators of Detroit pizza), including one where we made pizzas & another where we played bocce ball. Some of my best Michigan memories are centered around Detroit pizza! Against the archetype, Pizza Mamo favorably compares in taste. At $26 before tax and tip, its not a cheap pie, but a good indulgence. I look forward to trying more of their pizzas, especially with a beer! Repeat and recommend!

Yelp
Ohh how I love their pizzas! This place has great prices! The location can be tricky. I'd recommend to use Google maps and not Apple. Parking can be hard to find. We usually just order and pick up. This is a small restaurant so there is not much tables and definitely not a place to take a small child. The tables are high and the chairs are stools. Workers are always nice and always there to help you if you have any questions.

Yelp
QC could use some improvement, I ordered a Mamo Supreme Togo this time and it was slightly a miss, about half of the bottom of the pie is overly-charred and left a burned taste with every bite. A slightly disappointing experience for me especially when the sauce, cheese and the toppings are giving a very harmonious flavor. I would recommend ordering slices at the shop since I had better experience that way in the past and you can make sure you're not getting overcooked pie

Yelp
The Pizza is delicious! You order at the counter and can either dine in or take out. It was a 30 minute wait but worth it. The restaurant is small with several tables and stool seating but it seems that many customers do take-out so seating was not a problem. We ordered a Pepperoni pizza and a Sausage and Fennel pizza. Brooklyn style. Both were very tasty, and we definitely enjoyed our selections. Looking forward to returning to try the Detroit style pizza. Happy National Pizza Week!

Yelp
Finally had a chance to dine in. Despite the takeout snafu previously. You are back at 5 stars in my opinion!! The cold pizza slices in the case up front may look like a typical slice...but ITS NOT!! Once they fire it up for you and splash it with some sauce ( I had a sausage/pesto) OMG it is the best pizza ever. The edges are crisp, the bread is pillowy soft. It was like it came straight out of the oven. Really one of the finest slices! Guy up front doing a bit of everything and he handled it all well. If you're in the area..pop in for a slice!

Yelp
Very trendy pizza place. The pizza was delicious, particularly the crust. The service was so/so. We asked for minor changes to pizza but they were all an upcharge. The place is in a run down area of Chinatown.
