Pizza Pushers

We have heard great things about this place and it did not disappoint. The pizza was absolutely delicious. The crust was crispy and done to perfection. We had the Hell Raiser, sausage and hog wild. My favorite was the hell raiser, but they were all yummy. If you are in the area, don’t hesitate to stop and try the Detroit style pizza.

I ordered Pizza Pushers on a whim one night, having found them when searching for pizza near Lake In The Hills. The reviews and photos convinced me to call. When I arrived, it was just before my order was ready. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and offered their recommendation for taking the pizza home uncut. (They advised the closest thing to getting to eat it in the restaurant would be to pop it in the oven for a bit, then cut it just before eating.) The photo I've attached shows the "small" cheese pizza -- absolutely decadent -- just after reheating in my commercial oven (frankly, I would have preferred being able to pop into a regular oven at home, but...) Though I'm sure it's even better eating right away, it was truly delicious. The crust is flavorful, with just the right softness in the center contrasted with a satisfying crunch on the edges. Their sauce is tomato-forward -- not overwhelmed by or leaning on inauthentic seasoning. And though I can always load up on cheese and would have taken more, what was used had the right balance against the sauce and crust. If you're not into Detroit-style pizza, you may not gravitate toward this. But if you're down with the Motor City style, absolutely give these folks a call. We will definitely be back.

We have been wanting to try this place for a while because the reviews were so good and we love Detroit style pizza. We finally got carryout today and it looks nothing like the pictures online. It’s basically bread with little to no sauce and barely any cheese. We ordered on a Saturday right when they opened at 3:30. They weren’t busy at the time. For $47 for 2 small pizzas we are really disappointed.

First time picking up a Detroit style pizza at Pizza Pushers after hearing good things about it. Did not disappoint, great flavor with crispy cheese on all edges and we really enjoyed it! They only have one size which is around 8"x10" so be prepared to order more than one if you have hungry hungry kids! We'll definitely try some of their other specialty pizzas since we had 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni as our first try. Staff is friendly and there is an option to dine in with several booths. 5 stars!

Third time having their pizza and won’t be the last, it’s a bit far from home but worth it. One of the best pizza places I have ever had. Detroit style pizza that won’t disappoint. We usually get the Winston and the Hell raiser and both are delicious, the crust is a little crispy but perfectly cooked. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Came to Algonquin to bring my nephew for an indoor park. While here we decided to find a place to eat at. After some research i found pizza pushers and saw that the reviews were really good. We tried it out and man was it the best pizza I’ve had so far. For starters I have not tried Detroit pizza before so that was also an experience. It was crispy , soft, and had the perfect amount of cheese/sauce. I reccomend Winston wolf & the cheese pizza. The service was also really good. The cook came to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and having a good experience. 10/10 from me.

This place is sick. Came in with a couple of friends, and the guys behind the counter were just awesome. Super friendly and funny! The atmosphere is fun, definitely a 80’s-90’s vibe. Lots of horror movie memorabilia, cool posters, and almost gives me like a metal vibe! Pizza is absolutely incredible. I was not expecting this to be completely honest. One of the BEST Detroit style pizza’s (maybe even) best pizza’s ive had. It was super thick yummy crust, fresh and tasty cheese, and the sauce was to die for. You HAVE to get the vodka sauce on the side to slather on your pizza! Thanks guys!

We absolutely love the pizza at Pizza Pushers. They serve different varieties of only Detroit style pizza. It is a very relaxed atmosphere. Order at the counter. Drinks in the cooler. We've tried 3 of their specials pizzas. We might be working through the menu! Photos are HOT WILD.

The food was AWESOME, they were spot on with the service and the ambiance felt very home like. Small place, but GREAT food. Would definitely go back. I'd give them 6 stars if I could,

All I wanted for dinner was 40 chicken tendies or a good pizza. I didn't get either. Instead, I got a great pizza and a wonderful moment with my kids. It was very obvious that they care about what they are putting in front of you. And I have to say, easily the best pizza I've ever eaten. Check this place out 5 out of 5

Want a solid Detroit-style pizza in the Chicagoland area? Look no further than Pizza Pushers in Algonquin. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at the lovely crispy crunch of the crust mixed with the flavorful cheese and sauce. Simply yummy! The owner takes pride in his product and business and was so friendly and came out to ask us how everything was and if he could get us anything. The ambiance is super chill and paneled, with some nostalgic framed posters on the walls. Lots of regulars coming in while we were there. This is the kind of business you just feel good about eating at. I'd say get a pizza for each adult that has a healthy appetite. I promise: one bite and you'll say "daaaayyum" and wonder where this pizza has been all of your life.

I was in the mood for pizza this past weekend I remembered that Pizza Pushers just opened and they offered Detroit Style Pizza. I'm not for one to applaud a business owner to open up another pizza joint in the area or even another mexican food joint as we are over saturated with these kinds of restaurant in the area but Pizza Pushers is the exception in that they offer the different Detroit Style Pizza that you can hardly find in this area. So hats off to Harry the owner for doing something completely different. I arrived Sunday mid-afternoon after fishing the Fox River all morning and I was hungry! I first walk in and scan the menu and Harry tells me they are offering a lunch special in that all pizzas are $5 off, sweet! I went with my regular pepperoni pizza but I wanted Detroit style. He said it would take about 20 mins for him to make my pie but that was fine with me. Pro-Tip: Plan to wait at least 20 mins for your pizza to be done as these pan style pizza takes a bit of time, so call your order a head! As I was sitting there, Harry says to me, "we are experimenting with our version of the New York thin crust style would you be interested in testing a slice for us?" Being a Yelp Elite member, I feel I've eaten enough pizza to justify and provide my critique of a NY style pizza, so I agreed. Let me tell you the NY slice was amazingly delicious! You want a NY slice to be thin and floppy but not so floppy that the cheese is falling off the pizza when you pick it up. The slice had a great crisp to the back side and man it was freaking good, I'm drooling just thinking about it. It will be a great addition to the menu and I can't wait to stop in a grab another slice of this! So I get my Detroit Style Pepperoni and I thank Harry and I head home. I'd like to preface my review in that I've been to Detroit for business and I've had authentic Detroit style pizza from the one and only Buddy's. Be sure to check out my profile for that review. So in essence, I will be comparing Push Pushers pizzas to that of Buddy's in Detroit. The pizza was nice and hot and based on looks alone it met and exceeded that of any Detroit style pizza. But how did it taste? Well, the edges were cooked to perfection and the dough has the right texture, consistency, and was pretty much spot on to that of Detroit pan style pizza. I was extremely pleased and satisfied. The cheese was made with 5 different cheeses and was gooey and taking each bite had a nice crunch on the back end of the slice. The peperoni was good and overall, I have no bad things to says about the pie and it met my expectations for Detroit style pizza. With that said, I'm excited and happy they are in the neighborhood and it's a great change to all the other pizza joints in the area. I cannot wait to stuff my face with some more NY style pizza and obviously their Detroit style pizza will always have a place on my dinner table. Keep up the great work!

Let me start by saying I absolutely HATE Chicago pizza, and rarely if ever get deep dish, and NEVER get Thin/Tavern style "squares" so seeing this place pop up on my Yelp was very promising as I do enjoy Detroit style quite a bit. Sadly, for $46 I will never be back for what amounts to 2 tiny personal pizzas. Redding the reviews I knew they'd be small, but not THIS small, Perhaps I'm being too harsh as I did pick these up to have at home rather than enjoying them there, but unfortunately the two pies I picked didn't taste much different besides one had jalapeños and the other didn't, there was also 0 Hot Honey On the Wild Hog. Next up is Uncle Jerry's in Cary. REALLY would be nice to get some GOOD NY/Jersey Style in the area... I guess I'll have to stick to The Slice Spot in west Chicago, That's Amore in Crystal Lake, and Little Pop's.

Great Detriot pizza. Had the hog wild and hell raiser-both amazing. Small enough to share both with someone else and have a few pieces to take home. Started with the Caesar salad with great dressing and homemade croutons. Met one of the owners Jaime great guy. Highly recommend.

You dont find a lot of artisan pizza in Illinois or artisan anything for that matter that's what makes pizza pushers such a great joint. Believe the hype. This place is a gem. Dont skip.

First time and I was impressed. Perfect Detroit style pizza. Had the Hellraiser - not too spicy, and the Hogwild, great flavor. Looking forward to forward to returning.

First time in. Heard great things. They specialize in Detroit style pizza and it was the BEST we have ever had!! Husband had the hog wild and loved that the sauce was drizzled over the top of the pizza. Crust was perfectly cooked and crispy. I loved the quantity of black olives that were on my sausage, mushroom, and black olive pizza. So amazing!! Owners are super cool and friendly. We will be back with friends next time. If you have not tried this pizza you should.

The pizza is phenomenal and the owners are great! The Winston wolf is my go to but all the pies are great. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing Pizza! The owners are very friendly people who take special pride making your pizza. The restaurant has small sitting tables but he is expanding to more on the side.

Owner is salt of the earth and the pizza is out of this world good. Hard to find good detroit style around and this is as good as it get.

If you haven't been to Pizza Pushers in Algonquin go there, it's the best kept secret in town. Wonderful food, great service and the owner couldn't be more personable. The Detroit Pizza is outstanding.

This is our second time ordering pizza from Pizza Pushers. We have tried three of the pizzas and they are great. Love the vodka sauce! We had just moved my dad and had no plates or forks and the owner was very helpful and even cooked our pizza a bit more to keep the edges crispy since he had to cut it for us. It is worth every penny. Yes they are small, but very filling. You only need a few pieces to get full! Plus I will take quality or quantity!

By far, the best Detroit style pizza in the area. The dough is light but chewy, cooked perfectly for crispy edges and curled up little pepperoni. The cheese and sauce are flavorful and high quality. I like that the vibe inside reminds me of the 1990s pizza places I remember from living in New York. The owner is super friendly and service for our party of 6 was great. I'm definitely coming back and making this my go-to pizza place for when I'm up in the area for work.

Pizza Pushers has become our go-to when a pizza craving strikes. I love the uniqueness of the Detroit style crust and those perfectly crunchy edges. The pies are on the small side, but very filling - we always have leftovers! The staff is friendly and happy to customize.

What a fun delicious pizza! The pizza pushers claim to fame is Detroit style pizza which this Chicago girl never heard of until my son decided to order from here! Well, I don't know about Detroit style but I do know a deep rectangular pizza pan lined with Parmesan followed by a pressed in substantial crust was just fabulous! The crust was chewy and crispy and tender and tasty all at once, which takes real talent to create! We had a sausage pizza and a pepperoni pizza and one slice for me was totally filling. Any leftovers reheat beautifully owing to the quality ingredients which are substantial. The shop itself is a little drive by on the side of the road on the west side of Route 31in Algonquin so it's easy to miss, but hard to forget! I'd certainly suggest you try it! It was delicious and we will order this again.

Review for the owners. Pizza is great and I think you're close to having something special and unique in this area that's not Uncle Jerry's. HOWEVER... you have got to increase the size of your pies. Also, $24 is pretty steep for what amounts to a personal pizza for a hungry guy. I'd happily pay $30-$40 for a pie twice the size. Nobody is feeding a family of 4 with the one size (small) pizzas that you have now. We're in the Midwest, size matters when it comes to food portions. Pretty please figure out a way to make these family sized. 16" or 18" square, 14" x 20" or larger rectangular pies for football parties. I understand and appreciate the use of fantastic ingredients and your staff was very kind. If the biggest complaint you have going for you is the fact that we can't get enough of your product and are demanding larger sizes/lower prices so we can eat more of it... I'd say you're doing really well. As soon as you add larger sizes and really hammer down your pricing to be a bit more competitive, I'll adjust my rating.

Service was fast, staff inside was nice. Food was great. Everyone in the area should try it to see if its your bag. It was good just dont think im a detroit style pizza fan. It has indoor seating with a TV.

Great Detroit pizza with cheese cooked into the crust. Unique for the area. Good service, pizzas done when they say they'll be done. Simple menu with flavorful toppings. 1 pizza is good for 2 people.

Pizza is good but too expensive for a little pizza. There was 4 of us there and order 3 pizzas. It was a small fortune.

Absolutely love the pizza! Delicious caramelized crust. The only downside is i wish they had a bit of a larger menu. But as far as pizza goes, this is the spot for Detroit style!!!

So excited to have this new business in Algonquin! We stopped in on Friday night and placed an order- the team there is super friendly and fun to talk to. It only took about 20 minutes for the pizza to cook. Their menu is limited right now, but only so that they can perfect their pizza and then add to what they offer. Sounds like a solid plan to me! We got the Wild Hog and the Veggie pizzas - both were delicious! The pizza is Detroit style, which I had never had but now I'm a fan. Yum! Go support this new local business and give them a try. What a great addition to food options in Algonquin!

Incredible pizza! What a discovery - the crust has a balanced crispiness, the toppings are flavorful, and the cheese/sauce ratio seems almost scientific. Great spot by a team that seems to care about the results!

Michigan born and raised so of course we had to try Pizza Pushers last night!!! We were not disappointed! The cheese/sauce/crust ratio was absolutely perfect!!! We talked to the owner, and he was SUCH a nice guy! We will definitely go back...maybe today!

The BEST Detroit style pizza ever! That crunchy, buttery, airy crust is sooo good. They are made to order so they're always hot & fresh! My favorite is their cheese pizza, nothing else required. Hubby likes the veggie! Even if you eat the whole thing alone, you won't feel bloated! Friendly staff; Service is always top notch! The atmosphere is perfect for a pizza joint. If you haven't tried them yet, you definitely should!

I love trying new pizza, and this place has THE BEST Detroit style pizza I have ever had, including Detroit! I drive for miles just to get some! You do not want to miss this one...... Very tasty pizza served piping hot. Good crust. Some reviewers complain about the smaller size, but one $20 pizza is plenty for two people, and with prices at restaurants skyrocketing, this is a decent value. They could improve the dine-in area by having napkins at the tables, and utensils at the main counter. Just a couple suggestions that would improve the experience.

I'm not a pizza fan but when you put vodka sauce on a crispy Detroit style pizza, I'm speechless! They really know what they're doing!

Just picked up from Pizza Pushers. Used to spend a lot of time in Detroit and love that style pizza. Was great and brought back memories of Detroit style pizza. Will order again!

Pizza was Fantastic! Service is off the charts good. Friendly, attentive can't say anything bad about the experience. Only negative would be the size of the pizza for the cost. That being said / typed, what isn't crazy expensive these days. We'll be back.

Excellent food, fresh made with quality ingredients. I was never a big Detroit style pizza guy, but this is a great pie anyway you look at it. I went with a simple sausage, and a pepperoni for my son. Tasted both, outstanding.

Tried this place for the first time last night and absolutely loved it. One pizza filled up two of us and for that I think it is a fair price. Some people are complaining on the cost so go to Pizza Hut if you want bang for your buck. This pizza here tho is top notch. Will def be back!

OMG! This place has the best Detroit Style Pizza! Buttery, crispy crust and the yummiest pepperoni! It has become my all time favorite. You need to eat it when it's hot! to get the full experience. I'm totally addicted!

For the price of $22 for a small artisan Detroit style pizza. I could have just gone to uncle jerries and got the sweet sting. I honestly feel like I wasted my money and my time. Didn't taste much hot honey and wasn't much sauce.

This pizza is made with a passion for pizza. One pie feeds 2. About $10 bucks a man. Well worth it. Keep up the good work. .
