21 Must-Try Pizza Places in Montreal

"Following the success of Falafel Yoni in Mile End, owner Yoni Amir used his name (with a twist) for another venture several doors down. Pizza Toni’s menu is largely made up of New York-style pizza in classic flavours including pepperoni, margherita, and marinara, with prices running from $26 to $31 for whole XL 20-inch pies. Newer to the menu are options like the sweet cherry pie (with goat cheese, sun-dried cherry tomatoes, and a drizzle of spicy honey), the Triple P (with provolone, pepperoni, and pickled jalapeño), or what it calls “grandma” style, thicker, chewier, rectangular slabs sure to prompt some repeat visits." - Joel Balsam, Valerie Silva, Eater Staff

Best Montreal Restaurants for Takeout on Moving Day | Eater Montreal

"Sibling to hugely popular Falafel Yoni, Pizza Toni in the Mile End does mighty good New York-style slices — and fortunately for movers, they also dish extra-large 20-inch pies. Don’t you dare order without a drizzle of their spicy honey or ranch dips. Order with Skip or Uber." - Joel Balsam

Google
Toni’s pizza tastes pretty amazing. They have all different slice flavours ready to try. I tried the pepperoni flavour and it tasted really nice. It had a beautiful crisp and a nice cheese and sauce flavour on top. We also ordered a large pizza. There were a lot more different options for the flavours of freshly baked pizzas. Though it took a bit of time to make, it came out really nice. The flavour of it was really good and it looked so nice too.

Google
Pizza Toni had come highly recommended but after visiting and tasting a couple of slices I'm left scratching my head. The pizzas looked beautiful but I thought both the classic cheese and the vodka pep both really lacked in flavour and were honestly quite bland. From the sauce to the cheese, even the pepperoni, had no punch and overall salt levels were too low. Credit to the dough though I thought both the classic cheese had a great crispy crust and I really enjoyed the crust and chew on the square slice. I really wanted to enjoy Pizza Toni, maybe I overhyped it too much, maybe I got two mediocre slices.

Google
Wow! Sooo good! The dough has a nice texture and crunch. The pizza had a great undercarriage. The toppings were very tasty. Tried 2 slices, walked around Mile End and then had to go back to order a whole SHGP pizza to take back home. Definitely a place to try!

Google
After having Pizza Toni about a dozen times, I can officially say it’s good - but I admit, it’s not my favourite. If you like your pizza on the crunchier side then this might be the spot for you (borderline burnt sometimes). Personally, I prefer a flimsier slice so that of course impacts my review here. Another thing to note is the cost of slices has gotten quite high, the last time I was there I paid $6.90 for 1! I can usually get two slices in Little Italy/other joints in the city for just under $10. Overall, if you’re in the neighbourhood and craving pizza, it’s worth trying out. But it’s not typically a place I go out my way for

Google
Honestly, this slice hit so good. Perfectly crispy crust, just the right amount of sauce, and those little pepperonis were chef’s kiss. You can tell they care about the quality. Vibes were chill, service was super nice, and the branding is actually cute too. Definitely coming back!

Google
Inhaled the pizza in less than 10 minutes so it’s fair to say that the food is great. Had the pizza delivered so the crust came in a bit cold since I ordered during winter, but I’ve been there in person and the vibes were great. Cozy atmosphere, a bit small but the fantastic pizzas and dipping sauces make up for it (did not know ranch and pizza could actually go so well together) Ps: Their hot honey is 🥰

Google
The pizza tasted like plastic, very disappointing. Honestly that wasn’t the worst part. We came to grab a quick slice of pizza and ended up waiting 30minutes to get them… it was only 2 slices. They just forgot our order… Maybe ordering a full pie would give the taste more justice but we really didn’t enjoy it.

Google
Best pizza I've had in Montreal. Or all of Canada. Simple but so good. I think I prefer the square. You need to try both....

Yelp
If you miss Industrie from New York, pizza Toni will get your heart. Sweet cherry pie is a keeper !

Yelp
Si tu as envie dune pizza style NY tu es au bon endroit.

Yelp
Oh wow this za was yummy in my tummy! I got the Toni Pepperoni (love the name btw) and it was so good. Also I really appreciate getting basically a slice and a half (see picture) :)))

Lucas P.

Yelp
In house hot honey and ranch, combined with an unbelievable, perfectly made slice and on top of that a classy modern feel on the inside. Friend brought me here. I have to thank her millions.

Yelp
They forgot my orders when I was sitting there with my family. Careless and inadequate service

Yelp
I was told by another Yelper this place was one of their recommended spots for pizza, so I'd been wanting to try it since then - and I'd seen it in passing - at times with a bit of a line up. I will admit - I was intrigued. When I finally got to go, I noticed there were 6 or 8 ready made pizzas which looked pretty tasty, moister and richer than most by-the-slice places; and for good reason; as it's all those things. On the upside, they had two or three vegetarian options, of which I chose the eggplant, mushroom and basil. The slices were quite fresh and of a decent size. The cheese was greasy and rich, the way I like it, and reminiscent of Boston-style (my ultimate fave). It was also sauce forward - another signature component of Boston-style (love me some slightly tart sauce). Now for the middle of the road and weaker components. The dough was a bit on the chewy side, and not crisp enough on the bottom. Though not bad in any way, but not nearly good enough to warrant the downside of the whole deal. That being -- there was no deal. The slice costs 5.75 plus taxes. Holy shnikies! I get inflation, but there comes a point. If it had truffles or the like on it surely, but... not simply... you feel me?! Overall, I'd yield the pizza four and a half, because I'd say it's still one of the top slices in Montreal. Despite being the priciest that I know of. That part that gets a much lower score. The fun and talkative staff deserve a five. The pop culture meets diner looking decor has stainless steel counter space and tables, so if you distill all of the ratings together; it yields a solid four.

Yelp
Stopped in for a slice while in Montreal. Fantastic Sicilian and New York style pizza. Will come back any time I'm in town

Yelp
Lots of pizza places opening up in the mile end recently. Something must be in the air. I really love the aesthetic of this place and the slice was actually very good for someone who doesn't usually choose pizza to eat when there are so many other options. Fast service and friendly staff, super excited to see how my friends will like it.

Yelp
Excellent crust, sauce Pepperoni also very good Modern and attractive exterior and interior

Yelp
Finally tried this very much hyped pizza joint in the Mile-End and the hype is very well deserved. I tried their pepperoni pizza with honey dressing and Chili flakes and it was absolutely HEAVENLY! The sauce, the crispy pepperoni and thin crust dough, are the secret ingredients to all this yumminess. I tried their margarita and can't say it has the same effect but the Pepperoni is a must have & probably one of the best ones I have had. If you love pepperoni pizza, you'll thank me later and even more if you add some honey and Chili flakes. Enjoy & bon appétit :-p

Yelp
We usually love our pizza from pizza Toni, probably one of the best pizza places in town and they have an amazing ranch dipping sauce. This time around when we went, we weren't as pleased with our pizza as we usually are. The pizza (pep d'ail our favourite) was so burnt .. it was barely edible. It felt like we were eating burnt crackers, it was just falling apart. The crust in the pep d'ail is the best but we couldn't enjoy it because it was so burnt. For the amount we paid and the time we waited, it was disappointing.. This pizza gets 1/5 But normally this is our go to place

Yelp
A better slice in the Mile end or Plateau doesn't exist. These hip Mile End obsessives focused in on 5 menu items and executed with musicality. As far as slices in MTL go, Adamo finally has a contender in its weight class. Don't sleep on the hidden menu homemade ranch and spicy honey sauces! My girlfriend's only complaint is that I've been going too often - 5/5 don't see myself slowing down. (COVID INFO - Big bonus points for a hand washing station over hand sanitizer dispenser upon entry.)

Yelp
My favourite pizza place in Mile End and I have tried nearly all of the ones near me. Their concept is simple and straight forward. No bells and whistles just pizza. They do not have too many options just pepperoni, margarita, cheese, square? We usually get margarita, classic flavour. The full pizza is $26-$28 depending on the flavour you choose. And it's absolutely massive. Two slices should more than fill up a big eater. To give you an idea of how large it is, the box does not even fit in my oven. The crust reminds me of authentic NY style pizza. Thin crust, crispy, yet chewy on the inside. They have two sauce options: ranch and hot honey. Both are very good, but I'm a ranch girl through any through. Try it!

Louis R.

Yelp
This used to be 5 stars but something changed in the past couple of months. The crusts used to be perfect, crunchy and well charred. A few pickups over the past couple of months resulted into pizzas undercooked and drippy. I even asked on my last pickup to cook well - to no avail. Did someone good at this leave? I would love to get the Margarita the way it used to be but I am close to giving up on Toni. Please bring back the pizzas as they used to be.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza crust. Excellent pizza sauce. Service was on point. I would come back here any day. Best pizza in Montreal I've had by far. We tried the cheese pizza and it was finger licking good. I wish I would have known about those dipping sauces though ... I guess I'll have to go back.

Yelp
Hands down best pizza in the city. Beats out Slice & Joker next door, La Main Folle, Adamo and anything else you put them up against. Classic, simple and small menu with not a bad slice to be found. Bonus points to the best customer service in the city that continues to surprise me everytime i visit, which has been 2-3x a week at this point. Staff are very passionate about their job, pizza and the customers they serve. Alex is the man, and you can tell he really cares. Would give 6 stars if possible!
google avatar

Talia F.

Yelp
How many slices a week of Toni pizza is too many? This is exactly how I love a pizza slice: crispy base that doesn't flop around, delicious hot toppings, keep it basic and classic, then drizzle me some ranch! I absolutely love this place. Small menu and they do it right. If you find yourself needing a quick snack while you're out - this is the place. The whole pizza serves 4-6. But heats up well the next day if you're less and you can thank me later. It's hard to not stop in for a slice when I pass by. Which is often, maybe too often...?

GrubbinWithGes M.

Yelp
Obsessed isn't even the correct word for how I feel about this pizza. So so crunchy, and that spicy honey just tops it off.
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
Can't say I've ever been to a pizza place, a place that reminds me of "NY style pizza", that asks you if you want ranch dressing with your pizza. Smh. I mean, I ate it and it looks and feels authentic, but I don't know, maybe I need to give it another try just to be sure. I never want to talk down on a place unless they absolutely went out of their way to be rude or give bad service, this was not the case at all, place was nice, people were friendly, but this go around it wasn't that impressive, maybe it's because I could only get slices reheated and not a fresh pie.
google avatar

Skye L.

Yelp
I don't like to post negative reviews but customer service was awful. I ordered a pizza on the phone. They said 45 minutes. I arrived an hour later. When I get there they say there was a problem with the pizza and they need another ten minutes. I was pretty disappointed. If they were being honest about this problem they should have had it fixed by the time I picked up since i was 15 minutes later than previously discussed. What frustrates me was their indifference. Anyhow, I left. Won't come back. Terrible customer service.
google avatar

Benny L.

Yelp
Best pizza in Montreal! Delicious sauce, great toppings, and always hot. Good service too. I recommend you ask for the ranch dressing

Lucy F.

Yelp
I don't like bashing other businesses in my reviews but I want this review to be objective and transparent and comparative with what can be found in Mtl. I tried La Newyorkaise, Adamo and Slice/soda. At this point I thought Montreal was just not meant to have NYC style pizza. While Adamo was the best out of these three, it still lacking in structure and texture. And then comes Pizza Toni. Now this is a fantastic slice, crispy without being hard, a beautiful texture enhanced by semolina (I think that's what it is, but could be polenta). The toppings are simple, high quality and perfectly balanced. Perfect! Bravissimi! I will definitely be a regular.

Yelp
Never disappoints! Best pizza in town. Great crust, fresh mozzarella, tasty tomato sauce, and they even add basil leaves to their margherita which a lot of joints dont. Relatively quick service too given how busy the place usually is. Definitely recommend!!!

Tracy S.

Yelp
An amazing restaurant. The employees are fantastic as well. Their pizza is just to die for! The thick dough, the sauce, and the cheese. I LOVE their merchandise, And the store is so cool! Inside and out a pretty shop. The wait is amazing.Wait 5-10 minutes, and you have your pizza. The location is in montreal city which is my favourite spot in Montreal itself. When you see pizza toni you know your in for a good time.

Yelp
cheap ingredients, oily and cheapest peperonni possible, 5$ the slice for mediocre food. do yourself a favor and try Adamo or Pizza Bouquet.

Pretty And S.

Yelp
I've never had a better pizza than Toni's pizza. I truly think they are the best in town, service was immaculate, their spicy honey sauce is so unique and is so good when combined with the pizza. Very original, never had a similar sauce before. The pizza is huge and the prices are very good. I will never buy from other boring pizza spots again, Pizza Toni won my heart 20/10 would recommend !!!

Gregory J.

Yelp
Very disappointing pizza to be honest... people saying it's the best slice clearly don't know much about good pizza. Also get weird vibes from staff. Pizza Bouquet and slice+soda are far better.

P R.

Yelp
Really excellent slice - thin but sturdy, spotted by a dense pattern of heat blisters. Cheese slice was not obscenely cheesy as I prefer but tasty enough that I went back to try the Margherita. So lovely, especially drizzled with hot honey as recommended by the man tossing the dough. Tart but well balanced tomato sauce, in just the right amount, on both slices. One slice is a hearty afternoon snack, perhaps a meal if you haven't got the biggest appetite. Friendly and jovial guys working there. No indoor dining yet, so plan to eat on their sidewalk benches or elsewhere.

S M.

Yelp
Happy to have this pizza place in the neighbourhood but also happy that there's some other competition opening up soon, from the looks of things. Pizza Toni has great decor and delicious crust, price is OK (for mile end), but the state of toppings is just absurd: tomato sauce, cheese, and the occasional basil or arugula leaf does not real food make. My standards aren't high, but this is embarrassing - Montreal isn't a food desert.
google avatar

Naya M.

Yelp
picked up some takeout slices to eat in a nearby park! 10/10 slices were fresh, warm and super tasty!! will be back for sure :)

Isabella R.

Yelp
Truly amazing pizza that doesn't make you feel bad or instantly stuffed after eating a slice or 2. Prices are good and their attractive staff definitely is a plus!

Brian S.

Yelp
This place is exactly what Montréal needs to change the horrible culture of slice pizza on the island. They are using organic Bianco di Napoli tomatoes, the infamous Ezzo Pepperoni from Ohio and block mozzarella that is shredded in house. The saviours that we all were waiting on! Thank you Pizza Toni.
