"Grateful Bread Company alum Zach Parini opened this little Lakewood outlet to instant acclaim in 2017, and the buzz hasn’t died down since, thanks to his knack for crafting bubble-crusted pies with first-rate toppings that range from the fairly standard (including excellent pepperoni and salami) to the highly unexpected: Take butternut squash, apples, and bacon or peaches, prosciutto, and pistachios." - Gigi Sukin, Paul Albani-Burgio, Ruth Tobias

Growing up in Boston with Italian heritage & having lived for several years in Italy as a young adult, I can confidently say that not only is this the best pizza that I have had in CO, but it is some of the best pizza I have eaten in my life. Even though this place is 30 minutes from my house, I will probably find myself here at least once a month moving forward. Thank you Zack for dishing out the best pizzas around - I appreciate it!!

Google
I’ve lived everywhere from DC to LA, and along the way, I’ve made it a point to hunt down the best pizza spots in every city I’ve called home. Since moving to Denver, I’ve tried all the top-rated pizzerias people rave about—and let me tell you, none of them come close to this place. The crust is absolute perfection: crisp, chewy, and charred just right. Pizzeria Lui puts the rest to shame. Keep doing what you’re doing—this place is a gem.

Google
Best pizza I've had in Colorado so far, and I've tried quite a few places! I got The Original, which has pepperoni, jalapenos, and smoked mozz and an order of garlic bread sticks. Both were phenomenal! And reasonably priced compared to a lot of the places around here.

Hunter Townsend

Google
Pizzeria Lui is outstanding. I am writing this review awaiting my beloved Sopressata pizza and was offered a free beverage because they were running behind. The place is jam packed yet still highly intentions to make sure their customers feel seen and cared for while we wait. It’s the small things that make a pizza joint like this keep me coming back. They love their people and really really love their pizza. Quality is never sacrificed and you’re always going to leave with a smile. The hot honey is incredible always ask for both, they carry the Flat Iron Crushed red pepper which is top notch and always hand you a baggie of fresh basil. I mean come on, who else does this?!?

David Goldstein

Google
Finally found the best pizza place since moving from the east coast to Colorado. Got the Shroom pizza ( Pepperoni cups, homemade sausage, mushroom, mozz, pecorino, basil), Caesar salad, and some craft beers (which were also delicious). The crust was perfect—thin and crisp with just enough chew, and not too much excess dough. The red sauce was rich and flavorful, and the toppings were next level: crispy pepperoni cups, savory homemade sausage, earthy mushrooms, and just the right amount of mozz and pecorino. The fresh basil tied it all together. Absolutely phenomenal. Staff was nice, good jam music playing and free water and sauces/oils. Will be back to try other pizzas!

Google
Fantastic pizza! Well-cooked and flavorful. My only feedback is that my pizza needed more sauce. There was hardly any sauce on my pizza (regular cheese pizza), and the sauce was so good that my partner and I agreed we needed more! Cinnamon sticks were 10/10. I'll absolutely go here again. Next time, though, I'm asking for extra sauce.

Google
This is just incredibly delicious. I don’t even have the words to describe it — you just have to try it and enjoy. I order pizza every week and I’m absolutely in love. Thank you so much!❤️

Google
Listen, as a European with spoiled taste buds I think this is the best pizza in Denver. Quality ingredients, yummy dough, amazing home made ranch and a fun beer selection ($5 and $8). $20 wine bottles!!! They also give you plenty of basil which I loveeee!!! It was our first time in yesterday, but we will be back for sure!!!!

Yelp
When I moved to Denver earlier this year it was a little hard to find a great pizza place. But when I tried Pizzeria Lui i was instantly sold. The workers there are extremely friendly and the food is incredible. Such an easy decision on pizza night. The location has enough seating but do not expect to find a seat inside on a busy Friday night. Its a simple family owned pizza place. They also will offer to give you a bag of basil with your pizza. This is my favorite because I use it later on when I cook at home.

Crystal E.

Yelp
Wow what amazing pizza!! We got the Italian and the homemade sausage was delicious! The pizza was not too saucy so if you like saucy pizza, this isn't it. You can probably request more sauce if you wanted to. The crust of the pizza is very thin so you would need to fold or hold tightly. We had fresh basil and hot sauce on our pizza and both were a complete change to the freshness of the pizza. The location is very small so we got it to go. I would order ahead for pick up just in case there's a long wait time for pizzas. Parking is very limited also but it's worth it! We can't wait to come back and try the street taco pizza!

Sarah W.

Yelp
Wow!!!!! Best pizza I've had in Denver. We had the squash pizza and added sausage - a well balanced fall pizza! Also tried pepperoni, Hawaiian, sausage from around the table. Everything was exceptional. The olive oil is REAL and the service - outstanding. I can't wait to come back!!!

Van V.

Yelp
Why is Pizzeria Lui the best pizza in Colorado? A flavorful crust, both crispy and chewy. Incredibly tasty toppings. Interesting flavor profiles. Every bite is divine. Approved! :)

Alice Z.

Yelp
Finally tried pizzeria lui and the hype is real. Maybe my favorite pizza in Denver metro area. Tried the sausage and peach pit. The dough is so chewy and perfect texture. I was able to call ahead and they finished our pizza right on time for pick up. There's a few tables inside as well. Absolutely will come back and try other pizzas! The entire menu looks amazing

Lauren D.

Yelp
Pizzeria Lui has some of the best pizza in Denver hands down. We drive nearly 45 minutes just to pick up pizza here because it's that good! Their breadsticks and sauces are wonderful as well. As someone who can no longer have dairy, I wish they had additional options so I can enjoy their pizza again too. The restaurant is small but lively and there isn't a lot of parking, so takeout is the best option if you live close enough. Otherwise, be aware that their phones are consistently down or busy, and your pizza may take much longer than expected to be ready. Overall - it's worth the wait and I would recommend to anyone looking for the best pizza in the city!

John D.

Yelp
Awesome pizza and very friendly staff! I would highly recommend. Will be back soon.

Matt C.

Yelp
Pizzeria Lui needs to be in the conversation for best pizza in Denver. I don't take this bold claim lightly either. Not only do I dine out a lot, but I'd like to think I know my way around a pizza. To me, it's an interesting cross of NY meet Neapolitan. The end result is an artisan, more gourmet style pizza that has incredible chew, flavor and crispiness. This is my type of pizza, and I'm sure some people will disagree. The Lakewood spot is a hidden gem off the beaten path. Even though they brand themselves as more of a takeout spot, there are a few tables for seating. They have some good drink options too, including some $5 beers while you wait. You want to know how good this pizza was? I was planning to take it to go and once I opened the box I knew my self control wasn't strong enough to take it to my destination. I popped a squat and ate half the pie on the spot. The Original ($20) // Ezzo Pepperoni Cups, Red Sauce, Mozz, Smoked Mozz, Jalapeño, Wild Oregano. Holy smokes. Typically I'd judge a pizza place by their cheese first and foremost. But this sounded too good not to try. The smokiness and meatiness from the pepperoni cups paired with the bite from the jalapeños was a flavor combination built for my taste buds. With the crispy crust and undercarriage, this pizza was 10/10. Service is quick and efficient. Only a few people working, but they have a system in place. I love how they ask if you want basil with your pie, and proceed to hand you a small bag of fresh basil. Unbelievable spot and I'm kicking myself for not visiting sooner!

Tatiana T.

Yelp
Pizzeria Lui is a delicious little neighborhood pizza joint in Lakewood offering 14" pies with super fresh ingredients. I absolutely love the bag of fresh Basil that comes with your order. We had the Shroom pizza and it was the perfect amount for two people (if you don't want leftovers). The sausage is homemade, the pepperoni is cup pepperoni, and the mushrooms are thick and juicy. If you're looking for a place to dine in, there are only a few tables inside, so it might be a challenge. I can see how parking could be a challenge too. We ordered over the phone at 4:40, picked it up at 5pm, and ate it at home. If you live in the area, I highly recommend you do this. Since we were there before the dinner rush, parking wasn't terrible. This crew is quick and efficient...no bs, which I love.

Amy L.

Yelp
Great pizza if you like a soft doughy crust that has a light char with bubbles. It reminds me of authentic Italian style pizza (rather than NY style). I really enjoy this spot. They also have great hot sauces too. My only warning -- be careful if you get the pie with the arugula and tomatoes. I bit into a slice after it came to our table, scalding hot juice shot out of the tomato and into my nostril and literally burnt the skin off my nostril. It took at least a week to start healing, with scabs and all ‍ I will still be returning!

Sam W.

Yelp
Take all my 5 stars! Finally a solid pizza place This place makes me feel like I'm back home on the east coast eating New York pizza. The cheese is high quality, the sauce packs a punch of flavor and the crust has that perfect crunch on the outside with the fluffiness on the inside you look for when eating a pizza It's a little on the pricier side but when you look at the quality of the ingredients it starts to make a lot more sense

Natalia N.

Yelp
Yummy food. Great service. Great atmosphere! Super fast, We love ordering pizza to go or dining in. They make a kids coloring pack for the kids to be entertained, which is really cool.

Stacey L.

Yelp
My favorite pizza in the entire Denver area so far! They have the best crust that is just thick enough to keep the slice firm when you hold it up, not soggy from toppings, and just the right amount of airiness and chew. I've tried their Street Taco (think an elote flavor profile), Peach Pit (seasonal in the summer), margherita. Definitely want to try the butternut squash pizza once fall is here again. I love that their pizzas aren't overly cheesy and just the perfect ratios with the fresh toppings. There are only a few tables available for dine in, so keep that in mind if you plan on coming here during peak meal hours. I do recommend eating the pizzas there though so they're hot and fresh. If there's a big event that people may be ordering pizzas for, call ahead to make sure they still have dough. One time we came around 7:30 on a Saturday and they had ran out of dough, but were super apologetic and gave us a free pizza card for our next visit. I just wish they were open Sundays because there has been more than one occasion where I'm craving Pizzeria Lui on a Sunday!

Adrienne L.

Yelp
Pizza is good but not nyc thin slice or greatness. Dough is chewy and slightly thin. We got the original and soprasa. Skip the latter it was sweet. The original was pretty good. They gave you a bag of basil which was nice but I'd say skip the spicy honey it was so small not even worth $1. Overall I think I'd still prefer redeemer as my go to cheese/pepperoni pizza but this place is on par.

Long N.

Yelp
Pizzeria Lui offers very good pizza selections! I actually went and ordered their original Luis pie. Came back to hotel with it and had the first slice. The cheese and salami selection complemented very well with each other. I will come back and try their other pies.

Emily C.

Yelp
We ordered the Lui, the Mamacita, the Original, the Peach Pit, and a caesar salad for take out. The white pizzas (peach pit & Lui) were awesome and the cheese combo on the Lui was delicious! We didn't love the red pizzas as much, but they were still tasty. The pies had a ~25 min car ride home, so we will have to come back and try the pizzas fresh! Some of the best crust I have had in CO (thin, chewy, a bit charred) and the pizzas heated up well. The pizza is not super cheap, but the pies are bigger than we expected, and four pies lasted two adults for four meals. I definitely recommend calling ahead, as it took about 75 mins from ordering to the pies being ready. Very friendly staff, even amidst all the craziness here on a Friday evening!

Mattcheu S.

Yelp
The neighborhood kinda sketched me out, but the pizza was absolutely fantastic. Great stuff. 4 wonderful pies.

Jennifer O.

Yelp
First off - the pizza was maybe the best I've had in Denver. And to give some perspective, my husband and I try new pizza spots almost every Friday. So I like to think I've done some homework. Secondly- I grew up in a small town and the fact that almost every customer that walked in to either make or pick up their order was greeted, recognized, and treated like an old friend by the guy in charge was heartwarming and reminded me of home. I left this place knowing I would be back on a regular basis. Keep doing what you're doing!

Robert K.

Yelp
Delicious! Very clean, excellent service, limited parking so more of a venue for order and pickup for home. Quality of tomato pie...excellent quality ingredients. And the variety of pies is outstanding. Of course, myself and my other friends are big eaters. Would be a nice if they had larger sizes available with declining costs per oz. These pizzas are only 14 inches. I do understand business-wise why they would want to stick with 1 size for consistently quality service. Out of 10 points, I will give it an 8.2. My background is from an area of NJ that is "Little Italy" with tomato pies that are some of the best in the country. So I'm comparing Pizzeria Lui to Delorenzo's in Robbinsville, NJ. It always in the top 10 venues in the US. Love trying different places for pie. This is one of the best places I visited in the Denver area. Oh, one more thing. I went in and ordered then went back to my car. Woman came out and delivered it right to my car. Please tip well, they truly deserve the monetary accolades. Thank you everyone. Great culinary deliciousness. I'll will pay a return visit.

Dave C.

Yelp
Best pizza in Denver. Crust will change your life. Everything well executed. Service over the top

Samantha W.

Yelp
Best pizza in Denver! I haven't found better so far. People are so nice and they give you fresh basil and hot sauce when you pick up your order. Can be a wait if you order Friday or Saturday but it is worth it!

Cyndi R.

Yelp
Was easy to order online. When I arrived the place was small - so the small lot was full. The restaurant inside was busy and lots of to go orders. Staff was friendly when entering. Pizza was good - and we are pizza snobs since we typically make our own - but were in town visiting.

Dorothy B.

Yelp
Great pizza, crispy bubbly crust. Staff was outstanding. What more could I want? Maybe more parking.

Joe V.

Yelp
OMG, I had to force myself to stop eating the entire butternut squash pizza by myself! The crust was absolutely delicious too. I'm not usually a hot sauce fan, but I drizzled their mild hot sauce atop and actually enjoyed that as well. It was my first ever visit, and I arrived shortly after they first opened for the day. I found the entire staff friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back!

Matt L.

Yelp
Agree with other reviews on here some of the best pizza in denver. Had the Hawaii and classic pepperoni. I liked the selection of different types of red pepper. Great service as well! The inside is a bit on the smaller side can fill up quick. Will definitely go back!!!

Meagan B.

Yelp
Amazing staff. Always so friendly. Phenomenal pizza (can't beat the crust!). Have yet to be disappointed and we've tried many kinds. I do love the pineapple puree they put on their Hawaiian so you get a taste of pineapple in every bite. Sopressata, Mamacita, Butternut Squash, and BBQ Pork are our favs. This is my boyfriend's and my favorite pizza place in the Denver area and we love supporting this small business.

elliot k.

Yelp
Great food! We were absolutely impressed after coming here on a whim. If you are looking for a great local experience, this is great.

Victoria L.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST pizza in town! Quality ingredients , thin crust. innovative and traditional toppings. I would call it Connecticut style though I don't think they advertise it as such. Service was great, they are often busy but always friendly. Very nice people! Counter service, bright with simple tables, we mainly pick up and eat at home.

Christa R.

Yelp
I know this is a bold statement so believe me that I have thought long and hard about this: pizzeria Lui is the best pizza I've had in denver. There. I said it!!! The price point, the homemade EVERYTHING, the homey vibes inside. As a pizza lover, this place quickly took #1 on my list (can't believe it's taken me this long to try it). This place is a must! Inside is pretty small but dining in seems like a great experience. To go order only took 15 minutes on a Wednesday night.

Adam C.

Yelp
Fucking amazing pizza. Some of the best around hands down. A lot of creative options to order made with excellent ingredients.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
From the outside this place looks like a little hole in the wall, but the pizza is to die for! They mostly do to-go orders, but there are a few cramped picnic tables inside. I would lay on top of other people to eat this pizza! The crust is high quality, thin, and just the right amount of chewy. Sauce is flavorful. All together drool worthy. We also got the garlic sticks and they were out of this world. Little twists of crust with the perfect amount of garlic and parm. We also got the Caesar salad, the dressing was creamy and authentic. 100% recommend this place, must stop if I'm Denver or Lakewood. The staff was friendly and checked on us a few times, even though they aren't wait staff. Had a real local feel!

Nicholas S.

Yelp
First the positives: Pizza was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy crust but not burned, slightly charred pepperoni just the way it should be. Pizza was cooked in a classic brick bottom pizza oven as it should be, no conveyor belt BS. Overall taste was good, but nothing special. Now the negatives: 1. Tried calling in my order for 20m straight but kept getting a message that the mailbox was full. Finally drove there and placed the order in person. I told them there phone isn't working and their response was they only have one phone line. Sorry but how do you run a business like that? Any idea how much business you are missing to save a few bucks on phone lines? 2. Menu is very limited, just one size pizza or caesar salad, thats it. Mind you if it was excellent that would be ok I suppose but it was not. 3. The pizza was the thinnest pizza I've ever seen, thinner than Chicago thin crust, way thinner than NY style, so thin it feels like you are picking up a piece of paper. The only saving grace is it was cooked to be nice and crispy but it was so thin I could finish a whole pie by myself because there was nothing to it. 4. Almost no cheese whatsoever. The pizza came out red... with a few with spots of cheese. Never seen a pizza served with so little cheese. 5. Overpriced, $15 for a small pizza with one topping, especially considering it was so thin and had almost no cheese so it was basically just sauce on on a wafer cracker thin crust with a light sprinkle of cheese.

Denise F.

Yelp
Great pizza! Great vibe!! They have odd hours and get really busy but it has never affected the quality of the food or our ability to get food.

Matt P.

Yelp
Where to start? My family and I were in Denver for a ski trip to Copper Mountain (separate review entirely!!) and were looking for something decent to eat. I'm a pizza lover and willing to try any claims to artisan pizza. It wasn't far from our Fairfield in west Denver so what the hell.....we went searching for the place. Don't let the building and eating area fool you. By that I mean it looks like it was an old gas station or maybe a pharmacy or something in days past. The eating area consists of maybe 4 picnic tables for a total seating of maybe 20 people (and that would be packed if I had to guess). We were greeted by a pack of about 6 young men who were enthusiastically making pizza. We sat down and perused the menu. One gentleman came around to ask us what we might be looking for. We settled on the sopresseta and the shroom (they come in only one size.....14 inches I think so that doesn't matter) and some cheese sticks. They also had a refrigerator at the front with a nice selection of craft beers for between $5 - $8. Water was available behind the beer cooler with cups provided. It was all amazing. The crust is thin and crispy. Ingredients were all fresh cut and plentiful. They also make and sell there own hot sauces where were also amazing. They clearly survive on take out orders as there was a steady stream of folks coming in and leaving with 2 - 4 pizzas. There was a healthy group eating on site so it was lively and made for a fun time. Literally the only negative thing I could say is I didn't see a wood burning pizza oven but trust me they knew how to use the ovens they had. Make the drive....it's well worth it. I wish I took photo's but was too busy eating!!

Wendy M.

Yelp
Pizzeria Lui took a little siesta to update and add some renovations to their place. They recently reopened. We finally got back today. We've called several times in the past and weren't quick enough to get pizza before they sold out. But now, with their upgraded pizza oven, they are better able to accommodate their higher demand - woot woot! So.... If you're looking for Pizza Inn or Domino's type pizza, you need an upgrade. Pizzeria Lui can help. Locally made pizza - your crust will have some charring. It's adds flavor and is delicious. Not sure why others complain about this, but whatevs. We still heart Pizzeria Lui and will make numerous trips back. Yes, they're also on our list for anyone new to Denver.

Caroline A.

Yelp
First time leaving a review on Yelp and doing it just to rave about this place. Been coming here for almost 2 years and hands down the best pizza I've had in CO! Gives any east coast pizza a run for its money as well! High end ingredients, amazing crust and wonderful staff! Excellent customer service (lost art these days). Can't be beat. You're missing out if you haven't tried this place.

David M.

Yelp
I have been here twice for pizza. Both times we ordered our pizza upon arrival and ate our pizza in the restaurant. The first time it was very busy, waited for one of their limited parking spots. Ordered pizza and a bottle of wine upon entering a shared a table with some other people. The pizza was fantastic and the team running the restaurant could not be anymore helpful. The second time we visited, we got a parking spot with no issue. Same great pizza and helpful service. The restaurant is small and nothing fancy, the pizza and service will keep us coming back.

Kayla K.

Yelp
This is our all time favorite pizza spot! We get pizza here every single week!!! All of the pizza we have tried is great, but we are particularly obsessed with the butternut squash pizza. It's a sad day for us when that goes out of season, but a glorious day when it returns! The flavor combos of this pizza are so unique and are total perfection!!

Jean T.

Yelp
We finally made it here, after lunch at Bonfire Burritos. BF had been talking about this place for months, but it seemed to be closed every time we planned to go! It's open Wednesday through Saturday, 3 pm to 9 pm, or until they run out of dough. We got our usual half pepperoni, half cheese. It came with a side of fresh basil and two hot sauces. Interesting. Worked very well with the pizza! We usually add garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, and sometimes Parmesan. BF got it to go, and we parked on a shady street. When he opened the box, he gasped. He said, "Babe, this is it. The search is over. We don't have to drive to Slice 420 (CO Springs) to find pizza heaven." The pizza was charred, the pepperoni cupped, the ratios of cheese and sauce perfection. The crust was crispy and chewy. This isn't NY pizza. It's a 14" Neapolitan pie. That's the only size. Which was actually perfect, since we'd already had lunch. Next time, we'll get two of their specialty pies. I only managed one slice of pepperoni with basil and hot sauce. I can't wait to try the sausage and onion with fresh mozzarella!

James B.

Yelp
Worse than dominoes crust which is my favorite part is burned and taste like burned toast. The smoked ham is disgusting, the presentation of the pizza is awful. They could not even bother cutting my pizza properly. I had two slices and threw the rest away this pizza is trash. I highly suggest spending your hard earned money elsewhere. First time going here and I won't be going back. Highly suggest you stay away tl:dr pizza is not filling, crust is disgusting and burned, pizza not cut into slices, pizza looks disgusting, pizza tastes awful.

Laura L S.

Yelp
The food was delicious, good customer service and love the vibe. It's always nice to get fresh, quick food.

Devyn S.

Yelp
Amazing food we ordered the Italian and the bbq pork! The BBQ PORK was AMAZING!!! 100% recommend it! The Italian was good simple and great for anyone especially picky eaters.

PJ P.

Yelp
Simple review ... Some of the best pizza I have ever had !! Can't really add anything else. Delicious !!!

Brian M.

Yelp
Enjoyed this place so much. The crew there really cares about putting out good food. The kitchen is open so I got to watch their evening line-up before the evening rush. They all are really passionate from the chef to the busser. Great ingredients, of both the traditional and the inventive type, great crust, and great care cause Pizzaria Lui to stand out! Totally worth the drive to Lakewood.

Bill J.

Yelp
Super great service and pizza. If you like a crust with a nice char this place does it. Will for sure comeback.

Papi D.

Yelp
I'm not much of a pizza guy. But this place has blown my mind. The quality is good. The service is amazing.

Nicole T.

Yelp
So refreshing to find a local pizza spot that serves delicious flavor combinations. I prefer thin crust and these pizzas are just the right size for an individual serving....or We like to order 2-3 and share. The margherita is my favorite. The Italian & Sopressata are also very good!

J K.

Yelp
By far the BEST pizza I have had in Denver, and I've tried a lot! Seriously, it was delicious. I ordered the eggplant parm pizza, which had roasted eggplant, red sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic, and pesto. All the flavors worked so well together, and they even gave me a whole bag of fresh basil to top the pizza with. The crust has a great char, and the flavor of the red sauce is on point (not too sweet). I would say it's not much of a dine-in place. They have a couple tables, but it's very small and seems designed for takeout. I will definitely be back!

Lori W.

Yelp
Best pizza in Lakewood! We love the BBQ and always get some homemade ranch! Truly a unique pizza place!
