"The butterscotch budino remains one of Nancy Silverton’s most popular signature desserts at Pizzeria Mozza. The silky burnt sugar custard is topped with whipped cream mixed with creme fraiche. Maldon sea salt flakes are sprinkled around the top, and rosemary pine nut cookies add just the right crunch." - Jenn Tanaka

"Mozza is a classic, Mozza can be very useful, but despite whatever your in-flight airline magazine’s “Spotlight on Los Angeles” says, Pizzeria Mozza just isn’t the best of the best anymore. Maybe that was the case for the decade after it opened in 2006, when Nancy Silverton was still sweating by the oven or chopping the chopped salad. We haven’t seen her at the pizzeria in years, and that’s fine. Nancy is busy! She’s got the mozzarella bar to manage next door at the Osteria, meat to grill at Chi Spacca, rigatoni to bake at The Barish, some sort of outpost to oversee in Orange County, and, according to her Chef’s Table episode, a lovely home in Italy to invite chef friends to. Whether or not Nancy’s absence has anything to do with it, the pizzeria doesn’t wow us like it used to. That’s partially because there’s so much other great pizza in town now. But mostly because the pizza at Mozza is a little boring, and the other menu items range from meh to good. We’ll start with the good. The meatballs al forno come out in scalding hot tomato sauce with a tower of cheesy, chewy sesame bread, and somehow remain delicate. And you must get the burratina antipasti, which is essentially a plump mozzarella ball (presumably made next door at the Osteria) resting on top of braised leeks and garlic toast. If you ordered just that and a glass of wine, you’d leave very happy. And that’s because the other stuff is anticlimactic. The crust on the pies is puffy, crunchy, and light, but the tomato sauce on the margherita isn’t memorable, and, while you can taste the quality in the toppings on the other pies, we’d rather eat them on their own. If you make this reservation weeks in advance, the pizza will underwhelm you. Meanwhile, Nancy’s Famous Chopped Salad used to burst with flavor and fresh produce, but the last time we had it, the iceberg and radicchio were so wet the lettuces didn’t absorb any of the dressing. Let us be very clear. Pizzeria Mozza is good. The pizzas are built beautifully, most of them taste like you want them to, and you’ll walk out of that door satisfied. The space is classy yet casual. Maybe even demure. It doesn’t draw attention to itself, and is suitable for anything from a first date to a casual business meeting, to an impromptu solo dinner at the bar after a nice little trip to Wi Spa. But if you’re looking for spectacular pizza or are celebrating something, or someone, Mozza might let you down. Perhaps we’re being too hard about all this but, this is pizza after all, and you deserve the truth. And the truth is that Pizzeria Mozza is not the best pizza and that’s alright. Because it’s still an LA classic with pretty good food in a relaxed, welcoming environment. We don’t think it’s going anywhere soon. Food Rundown Chicken Liver Crostini While this is an objectively delicious platter of toasts topped with chicken liver and pancetta, it’s not exceptional, and you’re better off saving yourself for the pizzas. Burratina The best appetizer here (and also a cross-over with the Osteria next door) this is a must order. Garlic toast comes topped with plenty of olive oil, braised leeks, and housemade burrata. Delicious. Nancy’s Chopped When this chopped salad hits, it’s one of the best salads in LA. Unfortunately, it’s inconsistent. Sometimes the iceberg and radicchio are so wet, the oregano vinaigrette and other toppings (provolone, salami, tomatoes, onion) don’t come together, and you’re left with a watery, bland salad. Goat Cheese Pizza This pie is great, even if you’re over the whole bacon-on-everything thing. The goat cheese and leeks give it just a hint of sweetness and bacon is, well, bacon. Everything comes together perfectly and you’re going to want to hoard it for yourself. Bianca Pizza When a white pizza is done right, it can be the star of the show. And at Pizzeria Mozza, it’s definitely a headliner. White pizza can only really work if you have excellent cheese and at Mozza, it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that they do. Fennel Sausage Pizza Unfortunately, these delicious toppings (fennel sausage, red onion, scallion) just don’t adhere to the mozzarella. But that sausage is no joke. Can we get a bowl of that? To go? Margherita Pizza While this classic is the best way to experience Nancy’s obsession with bread (the crust crackles and puffs perfectly), the tomato sauce is bland. Stick with the more fun pizzas. Butterscotch Budino This thing is magic. And also incredibly simple. Savory from the butterscotch, sweet from the marshmallow, salty from the sea salt. And step aside, sugar plums. Those little rosemary cookies on the side are actually what dance in children’s heads at night." - Arden Shore

I've wanted to eat here for a while so when we finally visited we tried a little of everything. Parking is nonexistent, so make sure you use the valet (about $8). All of the staff are attentive and kind. They leave you alone but watch to assist with removing plates and refilling your drinks consistently. Everything we ordered was delicious and tasty, including the desserts.

Stopped by here on a weekend night near closing(I think 8/8:30) as that’s the only time they had available for reservation. The had an extensive amount of items from food to wine. We ordered some drinks first then all the other food items. I don’t know if it’s because it was busy and we stopped by near closing but I recommend ordering everything all at once via drinks and food otherwise you are going to be waiting for a LONG time just to even get your order in. The salad was more than enough to share for a table of 4. Margarita pizza was great, the crust on the pizza was quite crispy but also soft and chewy in the middle, a great tasting crush/dough overall. The fennel pizza has huge chunks for sausages that needs to be broken up, especially if you’re trying to share, tasted like a finer sausage pizza. Mushroom pizza had its own creaminess and had a bit of gaminess from the mushrooms but not over the top which I enjoyed, just enough. The lasagna looked burnt on the outside but was quite crisp and had a green/greens infused layers of pasta dough, it was creamy in its own way. You definitely need to order at least 2 to share decent portions split amongst 4 people because it was quite small. The portion of the lasagna was enough for 1 person. All were quite delicious but I’d definitely go for the margarita pizza as with the mushroom one as well. I’d definitely stop by to try some other items that also caught my eye. Decent place to stop by but depending on time of day, get ready to order all your items without pausing or waiting because you might end up waiting for a while just to get in your items.

We had an amazing dinner here last night! The pizza with prosciutto actually made my jaw drop after the first bite. The flavor of the homemade sauce and everything was just too good. I want to return and try other pizza flavors. This is definitely a place for foodies who want to spend more for their meal to be higher quality. We had to pay for valet to park the car on site. But it’s a quick restaurant, with the 2 of us, we were in and out in less than an hour.

I had not been in atleast 6 or 7 years. Went thinking it might not be as good as it once was. Honestly, it was better. the pizza is spectacular. Maybe even better than ever. Great service great experience. I hope I make it back soon.

Food and service were great! Hard to get a reservation but worth it. A little chilly outside so we sat at the pizza bar and got to watch everything being made, which is always fun. We wound up only having 1 pizza and 3 appetizers (octopus, cauliflower, shaved brussels sprouts) for 2 adults and a child which was plenty. Butterscotch budino for dessert. Cocktails were decent but a little diluted. Nice amari selection and our server gave me a taste of one I had never tried before. Only downside of Mozza is the non-existent parking and having valet on busy/fast Costal Highway. Would still visit again though.

Came here on a Wednesday night, there is no parking other than valet parking (unless by some miracle you find street parking on the busy street). The staff was really welcoming and attentive, giving enough space as not to be overwhelmed by the staff, yet still tended to. We ordered the meatballs, potato's, sausage pizza, dessert and a cocktail. Everything came in a timely manner, the potato's were salted and herbed to perfection, nice and crispy. I personally don't like meatballs, but these were delicious! The pizza came, nice and hot, with a crispy crust from the wood oven, we let it cool, but still felt the toppings fell off (the sausage was huge chunks just shredded onto the pizza). The dessert was to die for! The toasted Spanish peanuts paired well with the caramel ice cream and caramel sauce! To go with dessert we got the mezcal cocktail, definitely something fun. Overall the ambiance was good, very European feeling, the food was good, next time I'll stick to a simple pizza.

This was out first time at Mozza. This is such a fantastic restaurant with a very special and relaxed feel. The service was superior and the food was super fresh and flavorful! We were there to celebrate my sons birthday and this was the perfect spot to celebrate. Comfortable atmosphere and beautiful ambiance, we are so glad we picked Mozza to celebrate this special occasion.

Google
First of all, the food was outstanding. Everything we had was delicious. The Mozza Caprese was actually burrata so it was suggested we get the Pane Bianco with it, which I also highly recommend. The spaghetti cacio e Pepe was delicious as expected. The speck pizza was very good but did not have any base sauce. I’m not sure I’d get it again but if you like the ingredients listed on the pizza, you’ll surely enjoy it. I was surprised at the serving size of the coconut stracciatella and it was delicious. First impressions upon arrival weren’t great. There was a line of cars trying to figure out where to park. There were cars pulling forward and backward trying to make room for valet. McDonald’s and Ferrari lots have no parking available for Mozza so you’re basically left with street parking or valet. Mozza turned their parking lot into outdoor dining so they basically added more seats but removed their parking which obviously stressed the street parking situation even more. I dropped my fiancé at the door while I had to drive down the PCH quite a ways to find street parking. When I made it inside, the waitress was friendly and promptly and asked if I wanted anything besides water. I replied I needed a minute to see the menu but it ended up taking quite a long time for her to return. They sat us in the corner against the wine storage and ended up having to ask my fiancé to move twice so they could get to the wine. The bathroom was a mess. Overflowing garbage with towels all over the floor. Empty tissue box. No soap in the soap dispenser.

Yelp
Very sad to see this location closed! It was our go-to for celebrations with family on socal, we'll miss it!

Yelp
In OC Register today: "Lauded by diners and critics alike, Pizzeria Mozza in Newport Beach, the brainchild of Nancy Silverton, Joseph Bastianich and Mario Batali, will serve its last dish on Oct. 31. An employee at Mozza Restaurant Group confirmed that Thursday will be its final day.". Sad we've had many family celebrations here.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. We made reservations and once we arrived we did the valet parking. We were seated right away. The ambience seems cozy, they have patio seating, but we opted to sit inside. Reviewing the menu we decided to skip the appetizer, we ordered broccoli which we asked to be served with the meal. The broccoli was grilled and just delicious. The flank steak has a fancy name that I can't remember, I think it's beef tagliata, that was a good dish paired with salad and a vinaigrette dressing I will order this again. Pizza crust was delicious, we ordered the fughi pizza and really stellar. The wine list was OK. we ordered a lambrusco and certainly we had better lambrusco, thats my only mark down. But, really a wonderful meal and would recommend..

Ed L.

Yelp
Charming atmosphere and professional friendly staff. We didn't care for the focaccia, it was salty and wet. The cacio e Pepe on the other hand was outstanding, lightly sauced and super peppery. We're split on whether the prosciutto pizza was very good or great. Also, the outside area is small and right on a busy street, but it actually wasn't loud so we still enjoyed it.

Jamee S.

Yelp
Service was amazing considering we had a huge party with 5 different tables sitting inside and outside. They took care of us! They were patient and friendly, and professional. Ambience is great! Table settings were beautiful. I like that the menu was also the placemat. We ordered many different dishes and I was only able to capture some of what we ordered. I had a beautiful cocktail with thyme and forgot what it was called. It was so refreshing and delicious that I ordered it twice! For appetizers, we had: Meatballs Al Forno - good sized meatballs with great flavor! Loved the toasted garlic bread! Cauliflower Fritti - nice kick! Zucchini Fritters - These were like zucchini meatballs. Loved the flavor and the dipping sauce. Mozza Caprese - small serving but very delicious Rucola salad - enormous salad. Lightly dressed. Perfect! For dinner: Garganelli with Ragu Bolognese - perfect serving. Pasta was al dente. Sauce was the perfect amount. It's definitely Italian! Bacon, Salame, Fennel Sausage, Guanciale, Tomato and Mozzarella Pizza - very tasty! Overall, everything was very good. I appreciate Italian restaurants that serve classic, authentic Italian food.

Yelp
We can't get enough of this place!!!! Meatballs are soooooo delicious with so much flavor Service was great, food always amazing! Location is so cute.

Yelp
It was my birthday dinner and I was excited to go there. We've been to Osteria mozza and pizzeria mozza in LA so we decided to come here since traffic would be a bit better. We ordered Farro, cauliflower fritti, Margherita and Bianca Pizza. Farro is good like a Greek salad. Cauliflower fritti was great and very crispy. Sauce is awesome. Margherita I feel they should put a bit more cheese and tomato sauce. I had better ones at different restaurants. Bianca is good. Just comparing with Margherita this is better. Unfortunately our waiter wasn't good at all. We had to ask someone who clean up table next to us to grab our waiter to get our pizzas and our waiter never come back to ask how our food was. We also had to wave hands to get him to have dessert and check then he asked us how our food was... I've never been there before and my husband had reservation on standard seat and I'm glad he did. I saw patio is just right in front of HWY 1 and so tiny with no view. We parked our car on street since tiny valet there. Well, I'm not sure if I want to come back for the service and food...

Yelp
Sunday lunch was such a great time to go. Not too busy, the staff were so attentive and kind. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. A lot of work and high quality ingredients go into all of these dishes. The taste and presentations of them all were stellar. Such a warm experience to enjoy a wonderful meal with great company! Very classy yet cozy and personable.

Sam C.

Yelp
Always excellent, but elevated to the sublime when Nancy Silverton is in the house. My first time at one of her dinners, and it was worth every penny. It felt like you were dining in someone's house- if they were an award- winning chef, that is. We were enjoying ourselves so much I didn't take many pictures. Highly recommended!

John M.

Yelp
I've been a bit of a fan of the House of Mozza for quite some time. The Neapolitan pizzas of course, don't disappoint unless you go all in for the bacon salame, fennel sausage, guanciale which literally dissolved in my hands as I was trying to eat it on a previous visit. Fast forward to late 2023. We decided to make a trip back. I didn't know just how much I was craving not only greens but red meat and I can not even begin to describe how well their steak Tagliata delivered. Sure it's just a flank cut, but the outer char brought it to another level and coupled with a mountain of rockets and parmesan that peppery, salty taste was the bomb.com Over the weekend prior to my posting this, due to an immediate family member in critical condition at Hoag Newport we decided to stay locally across the street at Balboa Bay Club. We wanted a mental health break and a good meal that was also pooch friendly for our pupster. I called from the hospital at 5:30 and had the pleasure of speaking to Preston but the best he could do was a reservation at 8:45 or immediately. I begrudgingly took the 8:45. When the Mrs. got back from the hospital around 6:15 I told her about our reservations and she immediately told me to cancel it as she was exhausted and starving. As I was just about to look up the number to cancel the phone rang and the caller ID was Pizzeria Mozza. I'm looking at my phone completely confused wondering if I called the restaurant or did the restaurant call me. I reluctantly answer and it's chipper Preston. He knew we were hoping for something earlier and wanted to let me know there was a 7:00 opening and we can take the pooch. With everything we're dealing with, to be honest the call actually meant a lot. I don't know why, and I've worked in the business for many years back in NYC. But in the Hell of hospital bureaucracy and our frustration it was great to finally have someone reach out positively. We never asked to be called about earlier seatings. Preston called and said "I know you were hoping for an earlier seating and we have one available" Preston and the wait staff made our meal something we really needed mentally. The steak did not disappoint , the octopus al forno was ridiculous (I may have tried to lick the dish) I was awakened the middle of night from my Mrs asking "do we still have any of the Bacon Goat Cheese pizza?" The one and only reason I can't say it's perfect as once again I was reminded of the noise if you're sitting outside. It was very uncomfortable to say the least. I hope in the future management looks into adding more privets coupled with glass/plexiglass panels which could easily be quieted more with clear vinyl noise barrier wraps

Taline S.

Yelp
The food is very authentic Italian. It truly reminded me of being back in Tuscany. The reason for the 4 stars is their cocktails are very strong... like too strong.... After 3 of them, I stumbled over to the Bay Club for 2 more stiff ones and my husband had to pick me up from non members side (dont judge me). I ended up calling my local realtor and placing an offer on a dream house in Crystal Cove. I don't remember the conversation I had with them as I was very tipsy. The next day I let my husband know and in fear of being ridiculed by all our friends we decided to close on the house 30 days later. The house is now back on the market and putting serious stress on my marriage. I think it will end up selling at a major loss. I learned my lesson that night, don't ever drink more than one cocktail at Mozza.

Christine J.

Yelp
Great place to come and maybe my favorite pizza in OC or Cali for that matter. We came here a few weeks in a row, but more recently for a birthday celebration. We ordered a lot since there was 12 of us. Antipasti Chopped salad (bring back the Brussels sprout salad!) Caprese Salad Fried Cauliflower - AMAZING Fennel Sausage Pizza Goat Cheese Pizza Margherita Mushroom Pizza White Pizza Fennel sausage - also order at least 2 sides of this WOW Parking is rough, but they have valet. Just pay! Highly recommend and reservations are necessary, love this place and we will continue to come back.

Joy L.

Yelp
The food here is simple and exquisite. It's a bit of a drive. The valet parking is $13. But the pizza is so delicate and so flavorful. My husband's favorite is the fennel sausage. I like the Fresno chile and 'nduja. The wine list is impressive for a "pizza place" and very Italian. A big surprise was that we had room for dessert, despite salad and two halves of pizza: the Meyer lemon tart. Don't miss it!

A M.

Yelp
This is the story of a once great restaurant that has run its course. I can honestly say the valets were on-point. The rest of the staff and service was off. We were a party of 4 seated in a nearly-empty covered patio. I guess no one told the servers because several walked by, looked at us and just kept walking. After about 15-minutes I flagged someone down who reluctantly took ownership of our table. We ordered the burrata-probably the best thing we had all night but the portion size was so small. The chopped salad was a soggy mess. The 3 pizzas we ordered were just ok. I remember the food here knocking my socks off but that was before Covid. We added 3 desserts, still not giving up hope, but they were also not memorable. When all was said and done our bill was over $250. Hubby says we need to pull this restaurant out of rotation.

Ashley F.

Yelp
Unfortunately, quality of food and service has declined. We were excited to come to our usual celebration spot for our anniversary, and also excited to see some newer options on the menu. We ordered the zucchini fritters, which came to the table absolutely black. We tried politely asking the waiter if they were meant to be this way, and they just told us yes, they're fried. We tried one and didn't eat the rest. We were surprised to see them on the bill. For how often we dine here, it was an unusual and disappointing experience. No longer a go to, as I feel it was a missed opportunity to do the right thing on the server's part.

Ryan H.

Yelp
The best pizza place in Newport Beach. Inconsistency is a problem. I love pizza and meatballs. The valet service is overpriced.

Isabelle C.

Yelp
My best margarita pizza is here! We added burrata cheese and arugula on it. Meat balls were tasty, Recommended white wine was great too. I want to go back for dinner soon!

Tania M.

Yelp
What's fun tasty place! I loved the atmosphere! My husband and I came in last night from driving from Arizona and we had I believe his name was Adrian as our server and he was so patient with my husbands questions the meatballs were perfect and we both loved the pasta!

Don G.

Yelp
Every single item on this menu is a signature dish. The food, the service, the ambience it's just above reproach. I highly suggest the meat lovers pizza with an appetizer of the olive oil and salt bread with the roasted rosemary potatoes. Absolutely delicious.

David H.

Yelp
Love this place. Don't really care for the strict "every guest in your party must be here to be seated rule". I was literally parking the car and they wouldn't seat my friends. A bit too strict rule following.

Sam P.

Yelp
Best pizza in Newport Beach! Good selection of vines and more..., Try Owen cooked olives.

LisaAnne C.

Yelp
Not sure what changes were made but food was very disappointing. Server was very nice! Wine was great! But food , eh ... Started with VERY salty meatballs. Use to be my favorite. Lasagna dish was burnt , and Bolognese pasta was too aldente -(we know the difference) - 2 of us in party couldn't even finish it . . And there wasn't much of it served to us. We decided to skip on dessert - no chocolate chip cookies being served that night. Probably won't go back until we hear better things.

Kelly L.

Yelp
Just ordered 2 pizzas and a tricolor salad and for dessert we ordered 2 orders of Nancy's chocolate chip cookies. 12.00 per order. I have never been so disappointed in my life. I would be embarrassed to give a customer these cookies. Absolute hockey pucks! The person that cooked these was just lazy! Shocked they allowed a double order of these burnt cookies to walk out the door

Yelp
WHATTA TREAT ! It started with a one pint tub of Nancy's Fancy Butterscotch Budino I bought at a supermarket less than 2 weeks before we came here for dinner. We love gelato and it was darn delicious ! In fact straight after that one was gone I bought the Roasted Banana.....it tasted sensational ! Probably the best store bought gelato we've ever tried. WHO DOES THIS ? I looked up the brand and read heaps about Chef Nancy Singleton....a multiple James Beard Award winner. In fact Nancy is even responsible for our beloved La Brea Bakery Torta Rolls. WHAT ELSE ! Nancy has opened a number of highly regarded restaurants over the years and one of them was not too far from home. A MUST ! I made an online dinner reservation for 2 at 5pm on Saturday....opening time. My wife and I arrived a tad early and handed our wheels over to Cody the cheery valet attendant. Upon entering we were greeted by Preston the friendly host and Taylor who turned out to be our server. I thought the interior decor was very appealing and not pretentious at all. Of course we were practically the first cab off the rank...the restaurant was virtually empty at just after 5pm but filled up quickly. Our server Taylor was a total pro throughout our wonderful dinner...a 4 year veteran here. FIRST UP ! A busboy came by and offered us choices of water....we settled for regular water. He left us with a filled glass carafe and glasses of cool water. DRINKS ! I ordered a MadeWest Hazy IPA from their pretty decent beer selection. It arrived in a tall chilled glass and tasted quite good. We asked Taylor for some tips to help us confirm our dinner choices but we knew what we wanted after checking out their online menu at home. For starters we asked for a serve of PANE BLANCO with extra virgin olive oil ( garlic bread ). Our scrumptious looking Pane Blanco came out piled up high on a plate. LOOKIN' GOOD ! The thick cut garlic bread tasted very good. By now we had our dinner order all worked out....1 x GARGANELLI AL RAGU BOLOGNESE, 1 x MEAT LOVERS WOOD-FIRED PIZZA ( Bacon, salame, fennel sausage, guanciale, tomato & mozzarella ), 1 x BUTTERSCOTCH BUDINO ( malden sea salt & rosemary pine nut cookies ) and 1 x APPLE SLAB PIE & Vanilla Gelato. A constant stream of new customers flowed through the front door....maybe walk-ins maybe they had reservations like us. The cute outdoor patio out front filled up fast. WHAM BAM ! Our pizza and pasta arrived virtually together courtesy of Elmer the smiling food runner. We added for some grated parmigiana and chili flakes. Some great pasta and some amazing pizza......hard to beat ! No complaints from us.....everything tasted excellent with special accolades for the amazing fennel sausage on our delicious wood-fired pizza. We left half of the garlic bread and half of the pizza to be boxed for home...Elmer graciously took care of that for us. DESSERT ! Our talented server Taylor delivered our Butterscotch Budino and Apple Pie Slab with vanilla gelato to our table. Again a winning choice.....we totally enjoyed our desserts. We can't wait to return. EVERYTHING IS GREAT ! CHECK OUT OUR DELICIOUS DESSERTS at https://youtu.be/PPU5diQK6-0 NOTE - Of course with over 22 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics in 2022 I can tell you what is great !

Yelp
The service was good. The pizza was mediocre at best. The crust is hard as a rock. The portion sizes for the price were very small compared to other high end pizza restaurants. The ingredients did some to be quality but execution is poor.

Marissa S.

Yelp
Pizzeria Mozza is part of the Mozza group owned by Chefs Joe Bastianich and Nancy Silverton who have garnered high accolades from their other restaurants in LA and NYC. I've been a huge fan of nearby Osteria Mozza so there's no surprise I was pleased with my experience here as well. Per it's namesake, one should come here to enjoy their wood-fired pizza but their menu is not limited to that. They have a good selection of appetizers to choose from, some pasta dishes, and of course, Nancy's chopped salad among other things. You'll want to try them all and in order to do that, come with a group like I did. Starting off with a glass of Chianti as I perused the menu, I was instantly drawn to the Cauliflower Fritti and Octopus al Forno for starters. Without a doubt, they became my two favorite dishes that night. The Meatballs were also tender and oozing with flavor while the Marinated Olives were simply irresistible. Nancy's Chopped Salad was not only necessary but obviously delicious. For my main, I went for the Bianca pizza and asked to add fennel sausage to it. Wow - the perfectly charred crust and the crisp sage leaves really made this a stunner. If you want a red sauce based pizza, their Prosciutto di Parma will be sure to please. And because there is always room for dessert no matter how full you are, the Butterscotch Budino and Apple Slab Pie were the two things ordered by many in our party. I had a bite of each and wished there was Panna Cotta on the menu. They only have valet parking here so plan accordingly.

David K.

Yelp
N'duja pizza wasn't a good choice. Cured Sausage was so salty. Next time will get just the simple pepperoni/salame. Meatballs with garlic was yummy. The arugula salad was really good. Just simple and perfect. The gargantelle pasta bolognese was perfect. The pasta was perfect consistency. The service was AMAZING. The waitstaff are kind and work really hard.

Anthony W.

Yelp
Insalata Tricolore is out of this world. Even if you think you or someone in your party doesn't like anchovies you got to try this. Perfectly balanced acidity in dressing offset w umami from parmesan, plus a lift from the anchovy. Next, the octopus appetizer. Another solid yes. A part of me mourns the intelligent animal that died to make this. Another part celebrates the transcendence into a salty (if you're watching your sodium this ain't for you) chewy , but not too chewy creation to sustain your soul. Served on Greek yoghurt w cucumber and avocado. The pasta -like everything else, it's homemade. The pizza is pretty darn good. save room for dessert. Service was awesome -thanks Chris, Antonio and team!

Corinne R.

Yelp
I am so sad they closed. My favorite place in Newport Beach. I've been going since they opened and based all other pizza's against Pizzeria Mozza's. Some of the people working there had been there since the beginning. All we have our chain restaurants and the dining scene here is so disheartening.

Jimmy W.

Yelp
Heard good things about this Nancy Silverton restaurant, but were extremely disappointed with the quality and value of the meal. We ordered six pizzas to go. I arrived five minutes before my pickup time and my pizzas weren't ready. 15 minutes later I asked where my pizzas were and they brought them out, but they were at room temperature, so clearly they were ready a while before and they forgot to bring them out. On top of that, three of the pizzas were burned and the crusts cracker hard. This place sucks and for the $200 I paid for these mini-pizzas, I was really peeved and will never ever set foot in a Mozza again. I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for better pizza.

Yelp
This place isn't as good as the LA location, but still worth checking out for their pizzas. Other things (like pastas, appetizers) just don't have that special "umph" that the LA location has. I can't really put my finger on it, but still a great place to dine.

Yelp
Tried Mario Batali's place for the first time. We (two of us) went for a birthday dinner, and checked the box on the res app to so indicate. Asked for outdoor seating and got it. Our bad. A tiny roofed hard-walled patio with the open end right on busy PCH. Was an echo chamber for loud vehicles, conversations, and kids. Food was good, Casio e Pepe, Chicken Diavolo, and Lasagne. Drinks and wines also. The lasagne was a particular treat for me. Many years ago I had this style of the dish in Bologna and had never seen it since: green spinach noodles with white creamy sauce instead of red. The original was better (not as dry), but this was very good. No gratis dessert was offered, so we ordered two, butterscotch pudding and caramel sundae, both good. Parking is valet only ($11). Will come back with more people as many of the dishes are meant to share, but will definitely sit inside! Update: Just learned that Batali no longer has an interest in this restaurant group.

Yelp
Tinted orange and on the far side of a banded set of Newport Beach eateries and shops, lies the charming, sun soaked Pizzeria Mozza. This Italian eatery boasts a menu rampant with antipasti, insalate, pizze, e dolci that is reminiscent of an olde world flair. I chose to partake in the classic margherita pizza, prepared with tomato, mozzarella and basil. The servers were enthusiastic and attentive, the host graciously seated me al fresco on the patio, under a terracotta eave laced with draping vines. A pair of bushy palm trees shaded and guarded me from the cascading winds. Sunset took place while I was dining, and lavender clouds lingered in the sky above. The pizza crust was thin and crisp, the sauce was savory, the basil was daintily placed, the cheese was stringy, and the dish itself was not quite what I expected. I enjoyed the experience, but I would prefer to experiment with a more nuanced entree, to try a different menu item, the next time I visit.

Yelp
How anyone can give this less than five stars is beyond me. I've been going here for years, best pizza in Orange County by a longshot, salads are fantastic, desserts are world class.

Yelp
Average at best. Pizza combinations are interesting but execution was not there. Bolognese portion is tiny. Salad portion was huge. OK service, but this place left a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Thursday night. Full. We have eaten here 15-20 times Service by Johny was attentive, quick, helpful. Had a Barolo that was decanted. Roasted beets were perfectly balanced with yogurt and spices. Fried cauliflower, the aioli is spicy! Loved it. Troufi with lamb ragu was awesome! Paired perfect with wine. Pizza is consistently perfect when Al and his team are working their magic. Fennel sausage was simply wonderful. Crust is crispy and perfect. Those chocolate cookies are so decadent! Come out warm!! We always order a bunch of the small butter cookies that have a few springs of rosemary and pine nuts on top! (Great the next day with espresso!) Ended with an amaro that was so smooth. Can't wait to return!!

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here with family and the service was spot on. Got to enjoy some incredible roasted vegetables, cheese, and bread before my steak came. It was over the temp I asked for and our server Evan S. helped immediately to remedy. They even bought me a beer for the mistake. Really appreciate the outstanding effort of the staff, it goes really well with the wonderful food.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for Italian food in Orange County. The service is top-notch and the staff are very friendly. The octopus is one of my favorites. The bread is incredible. I really appreciate restaurants that get the details right - Pizzeria Mozza is one of them.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love coming to eat here! We consider this our own intimate hidden gem! We don't dine too often here because it is a little pricey but the times that we do get to, it's always such a great experience! The servers are attentive and I appreciate the fact that the food has not changed and is consistent! This is the best Italian spot I've been to in all of OC and the dough used to make the pizza is by far the best my boyfriend and I have tried! I recommend the fried cauliflower as well, the spicy aioli that comes with it, is one you don't want to miss! Will always come back to this place!

Yelp
What happened to the Branzino fish dish?!! The last few times I visited it was off the menu. I thought it was maybe due to availability but I asked the server and they said it was no longer on the menu. I brought many friends to enjoy and experience this wonderful Egyptian spice Branzino which was devine and now it's gone?!!! I'm heart broken. The best part of this fish was that it was a whole fish with head included, hardly ever see that in OC at any fine dining establishments. We have been coming to Mozza for years and we came more often because of the fish addition. It was so incredible that everyone in my table wanted an order of their own, my father always got his own. We really hope Ms. Nancy and the incredible chef team change their minds and bring back the delicious whole Branzino with that garlic sauce. Honestly best fish in Orange County. #bringthewholebranzinoback

Yelp
Such a great spot we sat at the bar and got to watch the magic of every pizza being made to order. Everything was excellent but the bacon pizza really stood out from the rest. Definitely worth putting on your list.

Yelp
I used to go to the one in Los Angeles and then they open this one. Just make sure you check their hours. The salads are lovely and I recommend any of the pizzas.

Yelp
Nancy please save your restaurant. We have not been here for at least six months and it was my husbands birthday so we both said lets go to mozza. A place we always enjoyed. The service was very good thats the 2 stars. The overall review is smaller portions, items didn't taste the same and burnt items. We got 3 small meatballs about 1.5 in diameter for $18 and 2 small pieces of bread. Like 2x3 inches. It was ok but $18? Seriously i never complained about price. But this was $5 too much. The cacio de pepi was next. Did not taste the same. It seemed like they used a prepared sauce. It didn't taste like just melted cheese and cooking water and cracked pepper. Then came the pizza. We asked for a little more done. Well it was burnt. We did not complain because we thought they didn't understand. But we realized as we ate the pizza it was thinner than it used to be, and thats why it was burned and it bore no resemblance to the beautiful dough we always loved. The taste had disappeared in the thin dough. Lastly we ordered the budino. My husband's favorite dessert there. It came out and it was like a very dark almost chocolate color. We started eating it and thought they gave us the wrong dessert. It was not only the wrong color but tasted burnt. The waiter said maybe they burnt it. Brought it back to the kitchen and they not only took that off the bill, but our wine also. They said they will make another batch in the morning. We are very sad about this review because we loved this restaurant. Hopefully someone can save it.

Yelp
I am surprised that this establishment doesn't have 5/5 stars. Dinner was quite delicious and service was on point. My mother does not eat garlic or cheese and accommodations were made for the dishes that could avoid it and we were told which ones could not. In total between 6 people, we ordered about 10 items and had left overs. For the quality and location pricing is on point and everyone from the moment we stepped in was friendly, accommodating and pleasant. We will definitely be back. My only suggestion is that valet either be covered by the restaurant or be free. $13 is a bit pricey when there is no option to self park. This still won't deter us from coming back.

Yelp
Table of 11. Sunday 9/9/2023. We ordered variety of dinner plates. Food was awful. Pizza crust were burned, portion sizes were small for the money you spend. Parking is valet. Street parking is a hassle. I am chef myself and ordered the Prosciutto Di Parma Pizza for $28. I can not recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
My fiancé surprised me to Pizzeria Mozza for our 6 year anniversary earlier this month. I was so excited because I've been wanting to go back since we went to the L.A. location several years ago. Reservations was at 5pm, valet parking and we were seated outside. They had indoor dining but I still prefer outdoor dining plus the weather was perfect! They also had the heater lamps on when the sun went down. We tried: - Mozza Caprese ($15) - loved it! It's so simple but everything about it was just so good! - pane Bianco ($6) - bread with EVOO. Our waiter suggested it and he was right! It went well with the Mozza caprese! -Prosciutto di Parma Pizza ($25) I was excited to try their pizza again but unfortunately, it wasn't as good as the first time in L.A. I was a bit disappointed. -Gargenelli with Ragu Bolognese ($24) the best dish that night! Flavor was so good and the pasta was cooked perfectly! It's too bad their portions are not your normal Italian restaurants. It was enough just for one person. Definitely ordering this dish again! Overall, I give this place 3 stars. The experience is different from the L.A. location and menu seems to be limited. Service was great! Oh, you know they're serious about sanitizing because there was a party that got seated and asked to be moved right when they sat down. The waiter right away replaced the table cover and utensils and sanitized.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant with an excellent server. I walked in and found the place to be quite charming with cute decor, an open kitchen, and nice bar. The food, however, was okay to not good at all. Our table shared melon with prosciutto, olives, and a lamb chop dish that were fine. My friend and I both ordered Nancy's Chopped Salads which we both tried, but couldn't continue eating. Both of our salads (which were strangely huge and piled massively high on our plates) were almost untouched when they were removed from our table. I think the busser noticed, but our server didn't check back and ask if there was something wrong. Our friend had a pasta dish that he said was pretty good, but not memorable. Be aware too there is no parking at the restaurant and they are on a busy highway. $15 + tip mandatory valet parking. Would not recommend.

Yelp
This review is all about the VALET! I had heard that Pizzeria Mozza was very good food and had been recommended to me several times. So I called the restaurant to order take out. It was late( the restaurant closed at 9) and I arrived at 8:45pm( when my order was ready). This was my first experience at Mozza. I pulled into their parking lot which is not large but at that time, there was 5-6 cars parked. I told the valet I was picking up an order. They said no pick up parking and I had to find parking on the street. The valet asked me to back out onto Pacific Coast Highway. It was dark, cars were zipping down PCH and cars were exiting the McDonalds next door. I asked the valet if I could turn around? She stood in front of my car, said no and waved me to back out on the highway, blocking me from turning around. I said I was a bit scared to back out in the dark with so much traffic. I also waved my handicap but she didn't budge from blocking my car and waving me into the the street. Eventually I did back out and found parking about a block down the street. Who doesn't have a place for pick up? We are still purchasing food($$$$) and tipping and bringing our business. Is it worth risking a car accident ? An injury? So disappointed with the valet when they had plenty of spaces to accommodate a pick up order. It completely tainted how I felt about the restaurant. If you like high priced Italian food I would recommend Filomena's or North Italia. Both have better food and a place to park for pick up orders.

Yelp
Had a craving for a real pizza and was not disappointed. Started with the cauliflower appetizer and grilled corn which were suggested by our waiter and both were delicious. Finally decided on the goat cheese pizza and it was wonderful. Asked for a side of olive oil to dip our crust and then t was perfect. Save room for the budino because it is the best in all of Southern California. Parking is an issue though. $15 for valet is steep especially when you're only dining for an hour or two. Nothing to be done about it though so just work that into your budget
