Easygoing restaurant with a central oven for wood-fired pizzas, plus a menu of international beers.
"A spokesperson for Pizzeria Paradiso’s Spring Valley location says he’s been in to pick up take-out 'multiple times throughout the duration of the pandemic.'" - Missy Frederick
"Pizzeria Paradiso’s biggest location to date is expected to arrive in Spring Valley later this month, bringing the neighborhood near American University a new source for wood-fired pies with a side of arcade games. The District’s homegrown pizzeria is shooting to open its fifth area location at 4850 Massachusetts Avenue NW by late November, a rep tells Eater. Its Neapolitan-style pizzas will naturally be the focal point, along with its brand-wide lineup of salads and appetizers. Local beers picked by beverage director Drew McCormick will fill up 14 draft lines. A spacious dining room, being built from scratch, will be stocked with two pinball machines and a custom mural by artist and Stillwater Brewery label designer Mike Van Hall. Once warm weather returns, the location will grow even more with the addition of a 60-seat patio and outdoor drink rail next year. Chef-owner Ruth Gresser refreshed a long-standing Georgetown location last month by turning its basement into a game-filled bar. The seasoned restaurateur branched out to Maryland last summer, opening her first Pizzeria Paradiso in the state in neighboring Hyattsville." - Tierney Plumb
"Pizza pro Ruth Gresser is planting her fifth local restaurant later this year in Spring Valley, a new location that’s expected to incorporate some time-honored traditions (wood-fired pies) with recent updates (electronic diversions)." - Warren Rojas
