"This Lakeview spot serves East Coast-style pizza with a Neapolitan twist and a rotating assortment of beers on tap. In addition to the delicious wood-fired pizza, Pizzeria Serio also serves some of the best calzones in the city. Check out the char-crusted goodness." - Eater Staff

Google
One of the most underrated pizza spots in the city! You can always get a table, excellent service and amazing pizza! Tons of gluten free options in addition to pizza including cheesy garlic bread! The house wine is always inexpensive and delicious!

Google
decent pizza, exactly what i thought this place would be like. we moved to the area two years ago but the other night a friend mentioned they loved it after we mentioned we had done a little adventure of the top rated pizza joints in chicago in july. got the garlic bread (good!), a small pepperoni and pineapple (decent), and a small spinach and goat cheese (fairly tasteless). had to ask for some balsamic on the side ($1 extra for a tony side of balsamic to add flavour to the pizza 🤷🏽‍♂️) and salt + parmesan; which i generally don’t add much to pizza. i can see why families would come though, nice neighbourhood spot. but to me, if it’s not at least better than standard delivery pizza then it’s not quite worth it for me. service was quite nice and welcoming!

Came last night and had a really nice meal. Service was wonderful! Very nice staff, and the space was big and didn’t get too loud. We came during lakeviews restaurant week and tried a few things off the menu. I got the sweet meats which had interesting flavors. My husband got the margarita pizza and really enjoyed it. Both of these pizzas were the small size and have 6 slices so it could be shared! Not sure we would get the breadsticks again. Will definitely come back.

Google
Pizzeria Serio is one of my favorite pizza places. Love the laid back vibe and layout. Always have friendly service and love the creative and delicious pizzas. My personal favorite that I fell in love with is the Sweet Heat, which has peppers, sausage, and a spicy honey drizzle that makes this pie all its own. Excellent selection of local beers on tap as well

Google
Excellent margarita pizza!! The Caesar salad and caprese were delicious and fresh as well. Will definitely order again.

Google
Amazing food. Check it out. They are right down the street from Cody's Public House. (You can bring food into Cody's, fyi)

Google
We get pizza here every Wednesday. Our hump day easy button. Easy online ordering, ready in literally 10 minutes or less usually (wood fire really hot oven like it's supposed to be)! Prices totally reasonable and service with a smile always. They have daily offers for dine in like kids eat free, beer and wine discounts, and appetizer deals, not just pizza either - entrees, sandwiches and salads great. All around perfect local Italian classics place to go. Thank you Serios!

Google
The pizza here is satisfactory. It’s nothing special, but it will hit the spot if you’re in a pinch. It’s also a bit pricey for what it is, especially when compared with other pizza places nearby and surrounding neighborhoods, some of those places serving award winning pizza. The toppings were also a bit disappointing. The menu stated “we use on the freshest ingredients” but the goat cheese on one of their speciality pizzas had no flavor. I LOVE goat cheese and I couldn’t care less for their spinach and goat cheese pizza, which was seriously lacking in flavor. The garlic sticks were pretty tasty. Our server was very lovely and attentive and the space is large and seems well suited for families with kids.

Yelp
The Margherita at Pizzeria Serio (with pepperoni or toppings of your choice) is my favorite overall pizza in Chicago. It's delicious fresh, cold, and reheated, a truly rare combo in my experience. Some places make a slightly better pie when it's fresh, but they never taste as good cold or reheated. I've never had a bad service experience at Serio, and the pizzas usually come out fairly quickly. I've yet to actually dine in, but the atmosphere always seems lively and enjoyable when I stop in to pick up my order.

Yelp
I ordered takeout out from Pizzeria Serio. They make some serio pizza but with a smile. The ordering process was easy, and the pizza was ready before their promised time. I ordered a Margherita Pizza, and customized my own pizza with Soppressata and had them drizzle some Hot Honey on the pizza. Both pizzas were really delicious, but I really did enjoy eating my custom Hot Honey & Soppressata pizza. The Margherita pizza was good but nothing special. The only good I would have preferred on both is a little more char on the crust. Overall very satisfied.

Yelp
Been here many times and every time is a good experience. Very friendly staff and the food is delicious. The baked goat cheese app is always a must order for us and every pizza we've had has been great. Our recent trip we got the meat your heart out and loved it. Very kid friendly which is great going out with a three and one year old. Like I said, been here many times and will continue to do so.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite Chicago pizza place. Brick oven style. Fresh ingredients can be custom and great staff. Atmosphere is appropriate pizza spot style. Sustainable food

Peter M.

Yelp
They will skimp you on the size of the pie you order. If you order custom 16" pizza you will get a smaller 14" pizza. Happened to me the other day.

Eric B.

Yelp
The brick oven pizzas here are superb; the crust is not overburnt and the ingredients are fresh. We prefer simplicity and just order pepperoni and mushrooms. The salads here are quite good and we usually get one with our order, as well. Delivery is speedy and they do a good job keeping the pizza warm until it arrives. Because brick oven pizza doesn't always travel well we were hesitant to order but eventually caved. We are so glad we did; Pizzeria Serio is now on our regular rotation of pizza delivery options.

Yelp
Great local pizza spot! It's not chicago style, it's not Neapolitan, it's "NeapolAmerican East Coast style pizza" and it's good. Great weekly deals so check the app and their IG page. Tuesdays is build your own pizza for $12 which is awesome. Pick up is super fast (mine was 15 mins today) and the staff is friendly. Plenty of salads and appetizers to mix in with your pizza order, try the spinach and goat cheese salad.

Courtney C.

Yelp
Delicious pizza spot. Super cute interior and really incredible wood fired pizza! I had the margherita and it is incredible. I will happily return.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Was looking for a new pizza spot to order from. This place randomly popped up and I decided to try it out. Pizza is fantastic. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

James W.

Yelp
Pizza was very good and the antipasto salad was delicious. First time I had a sweetened Italian dressing and it was outstanding.

Lee C.

Yelp
This is a good brick oven pizza place. Four stars because mine was a little well done with a lot of black on the crust. Salads looked good and will try one next time.

Andreea G.

Yelp
Best Pizza in town!!!! The pizza is fresh and delicious. Everyone here is so friendly and feel like they are all family. It is beautiful inside and out, and there is pizza for everyone. Their food do not disappoint. Thank you for an amazing lunch!

Sean M.

Yelp
Have only ordered from here once (so far), but the brick-oven pizza tasted great, had fresh toppings, and friendly service. Their website was a little buggy, so I called to place my order. The guy who answered was nice and helpful. The pizza got delivered very quickly. And the delivery gal was nice too. The pizza itself was really good. "Thin" crust, like a NY pizza. The brick-oven baking made the taste a stand-out from other pizzerias. The toppings were fresh and abundant. I predict I'll be ordering from here often!

Yelp
Very family friendly with a nice atmosphere in the location. I think the pizza is good - some days better than others so definitely very home made feeling in a good way. Their gluten free crust is pretty bad (which is sadly pretty standard everywhere). Love that they have calzone options - they are well made and usually have ricotta in them even if it isn't mentioned. All in all, we will go back but without my gluten free sister! :)

Kyle D.

Yelp
[COVID pickup review] Overall: A solid takeout option for those looking for a good deal while going above the standard chain options. The good: Pickup was right on time and provided friendly service. The portions are well-sized, we had plenty of leftovers (we got a large w/ garlic sticks and baked cheese). Everything was exactly as you would expect - the garlic sticks were garlicy, and the pizza was cooked well with plenty of sauce and cheese. The not-so-good: The flavors didn't really blow us out of the water, and the baked cheese appetizer was lacking. Maybe it was just because it was takeout, but there was only a dollop of (semi-solid) cheese swimming in a lake of marinara. It fit the needs, but we expected better.

Liz S.

Yelp
If you like waiting hours for just pizza pie, this is the place for you. I ordered a simple pie about 2.5 hours ago and guess what it is not here yet. Very unpleasant, the wait staff continues to lie, I've called and the problem is not fixed , I'm becoming hypoglycemic at this point. Never felt so disappointed in my whole entire life. Wow , good luck. I'm done! 0 stars if I could!!!!! The audacity.

dan y.

Yelp
Consistent great pies. Highly recommend. Great beer selection and cocktails as well. Service quick and nice booths inn the front.

Jackie P.

Yelp
This place has very good pizza and we order once every couple of months or so. There was an issue with delivery and it took way longer than it should have. When the delivery woman finally dropped it off, she acted like she was doing me a favor (yikes!). We were done for good at that point. However, I received a call from the manager and he took care of us. It was completely unexpected. He took accountability and was wonderful. That kind of management and customer service will keep us coming back. Thank you!

Yelp
Amazing pizza, poor environment. The environment is like a sports bar, so this place is great on game days or for takeout, but otherwise, forget dining in.

Alex B.

Yelp
A couple friends and I decided to go here for some pizza and beer after work. The restaurant was empty when I got there and no server was present so I said hello to the staff and sat myself. They strictly do the online ordering and service, which is very difficult to enjoy - the app they used was hard to follow and outdated. Additionally, having no server there to give opinions or more info about the food and being cognizant of any allergies is crucial in my opinion. The food itself was good, which is the restaurant's saving grace. Overall, I would order takeout from here.

Ana G.

Yelp
With so many pizza choices, how do you choose? I highly recommend adding this to your must try list! The crust is fantastic. The ingredients seemed fresh and it's an overall delicious pizza. We started with a calzone craving one night - they were amazing. Get the garlic sticks. We then evolved to try the pizza. Worth a try and will be going back!

Catherine C.

Yelp
Couldn't recommend Pizzeria Serio enough for your next event! We hosted our engagement party here and it was a huge success. Food, service, and ambiance are fantastic. Plenty of space for your family and friends.

stephanie g.

Yelp
Hosted a surprise party for my husband in the upstairs party rental space and couldn't be happier. I emailed a lot of restaurants and party venues before settling on pizzeria Serio and none were as easy and pleasant to work with. Food was great, service was stellar.... The bartender was so great to our crew of 40ish people, and I know we kept him busy. The space itself is gorgeous, clean and very open. You guys make me wish I could throw more parties!!If I ever do.... You'll see me again!

Shahrooz E.

Yelp
Was in the mood for some thin NY Style Pizza. Serio's satisfied that craving. Pizza was ordered and delivered in under 45mins. It was good when it arrived great the next day. If you like a thin crust and a little char on ur crust... you won't be disappointed.

Joee G.

Yelp
Delicious food and such quick wait times. My friends and I split a large 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni 'zah and I swear it was cooked and on our table 5 minutes after ordering. The overall consensus was positive. The crust was perfectly crispy on the bottom and slightly charred along the outer rim. There was the perfect amount of sauce and it was flavored well. And there was just the right amount of cheese. While this is not the type of pizza that'll fill ya up and make you feel ill, it is tasty and was the perfect prelude to getting frozen custard around the corner!

Olivia L.

Yelp
I love Calzone with some extra ingredient in it. Soft cheese, artichoke, and olive are good combinations with calzone. I see all the staff being nice to customers whenever I visit, and they serve very fresh, healthy, and yummy food. I am lucky to have Serio as my neighbor.

Annie K.

Yelp
Delicious margherita pizza. But portions are kinda on the small side given how thin the pizzas are. Also, I prefer taking my pizza home. Dining in was like eating at a Chuck E Cheese's. I went on a Friday night and there were children crying, screaming, and/or running all around us all dinner - literally. And from reading other reviews, it seems my experience is commonplace.

Mirella G.

Yelp
We ordered to pick up for the first time during the Covid-19 chaos and it was super quick! It was literally a 15 min wait from when we called (almost noon on a Sunday!!). I'm sure they have busier days but the service was great. Ingredients were fresh and the flavor. We ordered a large pizza half Diavolo and Sweet Heat. My husband liked the Diavolo pizza better and I liked the sweet heat the best. You can't go wrong. It's also a cool place inside to hang out, once things get better!

Erika G.

Yelp
Uh, oh . . . I think I have a new favorite pizza place in Chicago. Hung out at the bar, dishing with the fun bartender. When what should appear but WHOPS. Nutella crepes?! Decadent and delicious. Had a nibble of the pizza, but will definitely be back on a day when I'm hungrier, 'cos it was exactly the style I like. Thin, chewy crust, a few ingredients, fresh and delicious. Neopolitan style, my favorite.

Madeline T.

Yelp
We hosted our daughter's first birthday upstairs at Pizzeria Serio and it was a great experience! The team was flexible and easy to work with as we planned for the event - they made headcount, menu planning, and setup really easy. They are only open for events during the day, so you can tell the kitchen and team's entire focus is on making your event a success. The day of was great - both bartenders working the event were friendly and helpful, people loved the food (we love the sweet heat pizza) and they helped us create a little common area for the kids the play. If you are looking for a reliable team, a flexible space for 25+ people, and good pizza this is the right place for you!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Today is game day so I was feeling some za! I've eaten here a few times a couple years ago and remember it being very quick and very close to home. I ordered a large pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom pizza with and Italian sandwich for pick up. The pizza was very yummy! They cook their pizza in a wood fired oven which gives the crust a nice toasty flavor and has a great crunch to every bite. I absolutely love the pizza sauce they use on the za- it's more salty then sweet which I prefer! They give you a decent amount of meat and veggies where it's not overwhelming and every bite you taste deliciousness! I really like that it's not soggy, sometimes when you add to many ingredients on a pizza it gets soggy from the water inside the vegetables which makes the pizza very flimsy. The Italian sandwich was just ok. A lot of breading compared to the amount of meat. I bet their meatball sandwich is better. I definitely will be trying this next. Overall good experience!

Adam E.

Yelp
A fantastic local pizza place. Brick oven perfection yields a stellar hand tossed style pie that I find a little more in line with my roots in New York/Boston style. It's reliable and delicious. The salads are great to go along with the pizza too. The cheese is good, the big cheese is even better. Def try those before venturing into all the other specialties and loading up with everything else :)

G N.

Yelp
(5 stars for food, 1 stars for service, so I went with the mean in this review). "Honestly, I'm not angry, I'm disappointed" sort of sums up how I feel about Pizzeria Serio. Their pizzas are delicious, no question. Let me say this LOUDLY. The food is very, very good. If you are walking past and can eat in, do it. But, if you're ordering delivery, the terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE service overrides how good their food is. Every single time we've ordered from this place (because we are gluttons for punishment, it's been about 5-6 times) the food has been ridiculously late. It starts out showing a reasonable time of delivery thru Uber Eats, then quickly gets pushed out again and again, but because they don't use Uber Eats drivers (guessing this is part of the problem) there's no physical tracking. Tonight's order was due to be delivered in 40-60min window (already a reasonably long wait time for an order place at 5.40pm) and I'm now writing this review a full 2 hours later, with no pizza. I called the place, was put on hold 3 times for 15min (total) while the staff in the background ran around and apologized to customers for the lateness (I could hear everything happening). This happened last time I ordered too, when I had to call and see where my food was. This time, clearly my order hadn't even been filled, because the nice guy (all the staff do seem nice and are always apologetic) I spoke to was like "we'll get that in the oven and our to you ASAP". Pizzeria Serio, get your kitchen in order. You have a great product, and you could be a great business, but you're killing any chance of success with these logistical inadequacies. SORT IT OUT.

Sara P.

Yelp
THE WORST SERVICE!!! We placed an order for delivery over 2.5 hours ago and still haven't gotten our pizza. I have called several times and the rude man answering the phone told me 15 mins, I called back and he said oh it came out of the oven 15 mins ago. I called back and asked to speak to a manger and he hung up on me and when I called back again he picks up the phone and hangs up. Who operates a business like this and treats customers so poorly. We will not be coming back! I've never seen anything this this!

Lily F.

Yelp
Get the Margherita pizza. We also ordered the Meat Your Heart Out (pepperoni, italian sausage, canadian bacon) and while it was good, there was just something so special about the very simple Margherita. The tomato sauce... *gurgle noises* And to be honest, after eating a hundred Margherita pizzas, I thought I was burned out on them. But after the first bite I was reminded why I liked them so much. You just can't beat the classic and they do it so well here. They're neapolitan pizza are heated in a gas oven that goes up to 700 degrees which means your lovely pizza should be done in approximately 3 minutes. Just enough time to second guess your pizza choice and sip on a drink. By the way, don't waste your time on the Long Beach ice tea which was just sugar mix. Just get a beer here.

Lauren C.

Yelp
Every. Single. Time. It's a banger! Pizza is delicious, service is incredible. Thanks for always catering to my cravings.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Great service and suuuuuch good Italian food! We started with a beer flight - Local beers we enjoyed so much after 2 days if stressful travel! The garlic sticks gave me life and the homemade marinara....amazing and perfect in every way! We actually ordered 2 extras orders to take home for late night snacks. Really good starter! The marinara was such a star! Brick oven pizza was terrific! I can't say enough about how much I freaking loved the Italian sausage! Order this topping on your pie! It's legit authentic Italian sausage. Great service and we never needed for anything! Thanks for our first ever Chicago restaurant experience - it was a meal and memory we will treasure forever!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Delightful food, nice chewy crust on pizza. Would order the spinach artichoke dip with their homemade flatbread EVERY TIME just for the delicious flatbread. I'm glad we gave this a try. Yummy

Ben B.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza. My girlfriend and I came here on a Wednesday night, which meant all the appetizers were half off. The garlic breadsticks are amazing. Crispy, salty and garlicky on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. They come with a marinara sauce for dipping. You must order these. We also tried the bruschetta, with was loaded with chopped tomatoes. This was better than I expected, but I could only have two pieces before it got too rich for me. We split the large cheese pizza and I thought it was fantastic. The cheese was on point. The crust had the same crispy outside/chewy inside that the breadsticks had. I thought the sauce was a little bland. Could have used some spices in there. Still, I devoured my half of the pizza quickly. Service was a little lacking. We got one water refill only right before we left. Not sure if our server was overwhelmed or what. Still, the pizza and breadsticks were very much on point. I will happily return and bring some friends.

Suzanne B.

Yelp
Really great wood fired pizza! This place is VPN certified too, meaning it follows the legit Neapolitan pizza process (OK, I probably just butchered explaining that!) I came here on the pizza tour, so we weren't given any pizza ordering choices, which I'm honestly glad about. Our group had 3 styles of pizza to choose from- margherita, meat lovers, and spicy salami with pepporcini peppers. The marg was going fast, so I had slices of the meat and the salami pizza. This pizza was perfectly cooked, chewy and fantastic. I was surprised how much I liked the salami pizza. It had a good kick of spice, and a great flavor balance with the peppers. I liked the taste of the pepperoni too on the meat lovers. I enjoy a good wood fired pizza, but overall prefer a crispier crust. I also had a Manhattan while I was here. They had interesting looking craft cocktails that were certainly boozy by everyone's account. This place has a really nice ambiance and friendly staff, it was disappointing to see how empty it was at 830 on a Saturday. I hope it was just the weather deterring them!

Michael N.

Yelp
One star for inconsistency. You need to be very clear apparently about the Tuesday $15 special, "it gets kind of confusing" is what I was told so make sure you are very clear on your order and what you'll pay. Can't offer a $15 special and then look to charge everyone full price, easy way to lose business. Happened to me twice just called back and ordered the same thing to verify. Not cool

Emily F.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! I shared a Margherita and Eat Your Veggies Pizza, and they were both perfect. Thin, chewy crust, perfect amount of cheese and toppings. Service was friendly and prompt too.

Rikki C.

Yelp
I started eating clean. -Meaning I mainly eat what I cook myself with organic ingredients. That said I still eat cake etc when I make it or I know the ingredients. I like to eat out too as cooking all the time gets tiresome. Since beginning a clean diet my body is acutely aware when there is added sugar, poor quality ingredients, high MSG etc. I either get a headache from the high sugar/MSG or my stomach will ache from the poor quality immediately after. That said this place is top quality. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the overall taste of the food is excellent. I had the margarita pizza and my husband had the pineapple pizza. We will be ordering from this place for years if it keeps the ingredient quality as high as it currently is. Order with confidence. If you like fresh Italian style wood oven pizzas you will love this place.

Nikki C.

Yelp
Best pizza in Roscoe Village - consistent every time! The hot heat and prosciutto are our favorites!

Melissa L.

Yelp
Wow, I've missed this place. Delivery hit the spot during shelter in place. Consistently great neighborhood pizzeria, as it's been for years. Can't wait til I can go back for Wednesday 1/2 off wine and appetizer night.

Val S.

Yelp
I don't have the strongest pizza opinions in the world, but I do have strong Pizzeria Serio Opinions. And they are- pizzeria serio has some of the best pizza in the city, and they should be your go to place to order a non deep dish pie. My favorites are the margherita pizza when I'm feeling classic, the sweet heat when I want flavorful, unique toppings, and the Italian salad on the side to balance it all out. The crust is this place's crowning glory, chewy and thin without being floppy or overly greasy. Thanks to their wood fire oven, you can see and taste the delicious char. I also gotta give it up for their red sauce-I always order a side of marinara to dip my pizza crusts. It's chunky and garlicky and flavorful. My ONLY complaint about them is the amount of basil leaves on the margherita pizza, they could do more, but they make up for it with the perfect mozzarella cheese distribution which is CRUCIAL for this classic dish. The service is quick and cordial, and in non covid-times it's a great place to stop in for a dinner with friends and/or a beer at the bar while you wait for them to prepare your takeaway order. I try to call and place my order directly with them so they don't have to pay Grubhub or delivery service fees, and they're always very friendly and helpful on the phone. Last but not least- go for the garlic sticks appetizer-they use the same crust as the pizza and make these light fluffy breadsticks and the garlic version is better than the cheese version-trust!

Sally J.

Yelp
Hands down, our favorite pizza. Best crust ever! Sometimes we get the margarita and sometimes we build our own. We always get it delivered. Also get the spinach salad, the dressing is citrusy delicious and you'll feel more healthy while you stuff your face with pizza.
