"Even though the Spicewood restaurant’s sibling spot, fine-dining destination Apis, is closed permanently, the pizzeria is still open on the six-acre property backed by the Pedernales River. The focus is wood-fired Neapolitan pizza with toppings such as brisket-bacon meatballs, loads of vegetables, melty cheeses, and more. Accompanying the pies are nice plates like smoked okra, soups, pastas, and sandwiches. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Sorellina in Back Bay feels like the dining hall on the secret spaceship that’s waiting to take all the rich people to Mars moments before the planet is destroyed. That is to say it’s a polished, high-end place where people in nice clothes eat pasta. The price point reflects the clientele, but if you have a special occasion coming up, or you’re just trying to get rid of all your money before backpacking around the world, it’s a good place to get some great pasta or red meat entrees. We liked the chestnut cavatelli with wild boar best." - Dan Secatore

"Apis cares about its food (so much so, it strives to become Austin’s Blue Hill Stone Barns, with a fully vertical farm), and it shows with its fare. Indulge and linger over the prix fixe or casual bar menu, showcasing the best of what Apis can do, from house-aged and cured meats, fresh scallops, to honey combs (though entry is a bit confusing). While you’re out there, it’s worth checking out its casual counterpart, Pizzeria Sorellina, right next door.Distance from Austin: approximately 40 minutes" - Nadia Chaudhury

"Bypass fine dining restaurant Apis (pool time isn’t the occasion for it) for its casual pizzeria offshoot right next door. Much like Apis, Pizzeria Sorellina focuses on high quality, seasonal ingredients on its Neapolitan pies, like fermented and dried shiitake mushrooms, fennel, and chilis, along with its house-cured meats. For something lighter, there’s a particularly refreshing butter lettuce salad." - Nadia Chaudhury

I wasn’t impressed tonight. Cauliflower was okay- def spicier than I expected. Perhaps that’s my fault for not knowing what moorish spices are. The pasta carbonara tasted like a pasta chicken pot pie to me. Pizza was okay- a little bland, imo. Aside from that, I was particularly disturbed by, who seemed to be the owner, snacking with his hands out of the ingredients bins in the open kitchen, then cooking food, then helping with checks, and bussing tables- and I never once saw him wash his hands between tasks. If the owner is so lenient on his own kitchen hygiene; I can only assume his staff is held to the same standard. Personally, I don’t recommend this place.

This place is ~45-50 minutes from where we live so we only go when there’s something else we do need to in the area. It’s past Bee Caves and Lakeway- more in Spicewood area. If you live near this place, you are a lucky human. It’s really low key. The parking lot isn’t paved. There’s a drink fountain so you do your own refills. This time, we actually had a waitress. The other time we went, we had to order at the counter. Starting off with the cocktails. I had an Indian Summer - herbal gin drink. Really good and pretty pink color. We started off with the Caesar salad and Tuscan Bean Dip. Needless to say, the bean dip was way better than the salad (which had way too thick of a dressing). The bean dip came with toasted homemade bread crisps that they also used on the Caesar salad. Wow - the dip is smooth and a punch of great flavor. Then, the pizzas came out - all the pizzas are 12” standard size. My kid’s pizza was generous and extremely good for a cheese pizza. Hubby ordered the Nduja sausage pizza - slightly spicy, very flavorful, so delicious. The pizzas are Neapolitan style so the more you go to the center, the softer the pizza. I would highly recommend both of the pizzas we tried. Then, my dish was an Italian beef sandwich. It looked too plain for my liking. I love both hot and cold sandwiches with loads of toppings. But after my first bite, I was hooked. Really flavorful and juicy shredded beef topped with pickled Italian vegetables. The bread was soft and not baked or heated - I think if they used a baguette, I would be in sandwich heaven. Dessert was a skillet cookie - good but nothing much to write about. The waitress forgot to put in our order so we were waiting way too long for it so I was in a sour mood when the cookie finally came out. All in all, great food and the service was kind but slow. I would recommend if you’re in the area!

I discovered this gem last summer when staying with a friend who lived down the street. The owner was so friendly and it was some of the absolute best crust I've ever had. He explained how its a combination of grains with sourdough and I love how he seemed to perfect his craft. I dropped a pizza off to my friend and brought 3 home to Dallas for my family. They were in love too! Is it true you're closed?! Any re-opening in sight? This makes me so sad as I've been looking forward to coming when we visit Austin soon.

Excellent pizza with a focus on quality ingredients. The service was great. And the outdoor seating next to the farmers market creates a community feel. Our server told us about upcoming live music and a movie night. They describe their pizza as neapolitan. I think of it as more neopolitan inspired California pizza. After one visit, it is a hill country favorite for me.

I decided to go here on my vacation, and let me just say it was so worth it! The food is high quality and nothing short of delicious. The appetizer I took a picture of is the roasted cauliflower with cashews and it was fabulous! The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff friendly. Our server was Jack and he was super helpful and on top of things. Prices are a little higher but it's worth every penny. Definitely a fun place to check out!

I love the menu at Sorellina, always something unique to try and classics I know my kids will love. We have also eaten at Apis and it's a real treat but a more frequent fare for us is the delicious pizzeria that's owned by the same family. Have you tried their onsite farmers market? The Halls are truly a Godsend to the community and Nectar Flow Yoga is just another thing we love about this multifaceted tribe. I also love that there has always felt like a faith conscious and respectful vibe while being really inclusive of everyone. When the pandemic started to loosen up the farmer's market at Sorellina was the first place I saw one of my best friends in over a year. It's a place that truly brings people together AND all the food is absolutely amazing!

Tucked just off 71, is this beautiful gem we make a must GO every time we are in Beecaves. Everything from the pasta to the potato salad, are made fresh and absolutley delicious. I highly recommend the Italian BLT!! Plenty of room indoors and out, with a beautiful outdoor patio area, that even has cooler fans to help beat the Texas heat!! I can not recommend this place highly enought! Cheers!! And tell "Rhonda Rea" HI when he is walking through the back asking about your experince!! 😉

This was the perfect spot for a low-key dinner over a girls' weekend getaway to the Hill Country! Fabulous pizza, cold drinks, wonderful and attentive staff, and we loved the live music and friendly atmosphere. We will be back!
