Run by Italian owners, Pizzicata brings Napoli‑style pizza and Roman pinsa to a handsome space overlooking Painted Mountain. The imported wood‑fired oven and a menu rooted in Italian technique have earned strong word‑of‑mouth and critic attention.

Brand new spot in Mesa right by the Westgate Painted Mountain Golf Resort, and it’s already one of my favorites. My wife and I have known the owner, Stephanie, for a while — she was our go-to server at a couple other restaurants, and when we found out she and her husband opened this place, we had to follow her. Service has always been top notch, and it’s no different here. The food? 🔥 Literally. Everything is cooked in a legit wood-fired oven, and you can taste the difference. Pizzas, calzones, fine wines — all done right. They’ve also got indoor and outdoor seating, and the atmosphere is classy without being pretentious. Think first date or anniversary dinner vibe, but also big enough to host large parties. Prices are reasonable — a little more than your chain diners, but not as pricey as the big steakhouses. Definitely worth it for the quality and the service you’re getting. Big bonus: they’ve got Luca, a real Italian guy with the accent and everything. Makes the place feel authentic, like you’re getting the full Italian experience right here in Mesa. Only thing I’d tweak? The menu is a little hard to read — but my wife says I’m just being picky and that it’s classy, so I’ll let that slide. Overall, highly recommend checking out Pizzicata. Great food, great people, great vibe. This place is going to be a Mesa staple. 📍 Pizzicata – Mesa (by Power Rd. & McKellips, near Westgate Painted Mountain Golf Resort)

Pizzicata Pizzeria Ristorante Mesa is an absolute gem! Chef Viola and Federico Venturini have brought something truly special to Mesa, and it shows in every bite. I had the veal parmigiana — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and easily one of the best I've had in Arizona. I paired it with an Aperol Spritz (which was fantastic), and finished with a Limoncello — good, though the Spritz was the standout. The Mona Lisa pizza my daughter ordered was also excellent, with high-quality ingredients and a perfect crust. We also tried the calamari (crispy and fresh) and the Italian fries — both are must-haves! The service was top-notch — attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual and elegant, with beautiful artwork and a warm, welcoming vibe. This building holds a lot of memories for me. I used to work here when it was a country club restaurant called Camelot under Chef Donna Handcock. I started as a dishwasher and worked my way up to breakfast cook when I was just 18. It’s changed ownership and names a few times since then, and I don't believe it's connected to the golf course anymore — but it was really special to return and see how beautifully it's been transformed. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine with heart and history behind it. Welcome to Mesa, Pizzicata — we’re lucky to have you!

**Burnt Pizza and Poor Value** The pizza we received was burnt and significantly overpriced for its small size. **Unacceptable Customer Service** When I called to request a refund, I was told, *"Sorry, we don't have a manager on weekends."* Rosie, the staff member who answered the phone, showed no empathy, concern, or professionalism in addressing our complaint. **No Refund Policy via Website** We placed our order through Pizzata’s website, only to find out that they do not issue refunds for online orders, as these are processed through a third party. **Final Recommendation** Based on our experience, I strongly advise against ordering from this poorly managed restaurant—online or otherwise. The food quality was unacceptable, and the customer service was worse.

I love coming to Pizzicata! Chef Valentina makes delicious food, I have been a handful of times and have never been disappointed with what I have ordered. I've brought friends and family with me and they have enjoyed their meals as well. Very delicious Italian food! Alisha is a great waitress, along with the rest of their staff. Best of luck to the new owners!

Google
Wow! Superb pizza that rivals Pizzaria Bianco! And that’s about the highest praise I can give for pizza. The Caesar salad was delicious, their wine selection, although small was very good and very reasonably priced (we had a bottle of Chiante) and the pizza was so so good!

Google
We just discovered this amazing restaurant and had such a great experience! The food is the real deal—there’s an actual Italian chef in the kitchen, and it totally shows. The new owner was there too and took the time to chat with us—super warm and welcoming. Prices were really reasonable, especially for how good the food was. They also have some awesome vegetarian and vegan options. We’re already planning to come back!

We had a great dining experience for our date night at Pizzicata in Mesa, AZ. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. When we arrived, it wasn't too crowded, and service was prompt. However, as the restaurant got busier, the service pace slowed a bit, but it wasn't too much of an issue. Our waitress was fantastic and offered several great recommendations, making our first visit feel easy. The drinks were enjoyable, with the Limoncello featuring some homemade ingredients, which added a nice touch. I had the Travolta pizza, which had a perfect balance of chew and crispiness with excellent flavor. My wife ordered the Carbonara, and it was exceptional – well-seasoned and delicious. We also tried the arancini, which was good, but a little lacking in flavor. Thankfully, the sauce that accompanied it made up for that. For dessert, we had the flourless cake, which was a pleasant surprise. It had more of a molten texture than the dense type we’re used to, but it was still delicious. Overall, a solid meal with great service and a few standout dishes. The patio atmosphere was great as well. We will definitely be back with our kids.

Google
Stopped in to check it out and we are glad we did! The wood burning pizza oven makes a perfect pizza!! The sauce wasn't overbearing and you can tell the cheese is authentic mozzarella. Coming back for sure!!

Yelp
Awesome food, awesome staff. Wood fired pizza at it's best with a great patio and when the weather cools down

Yelp
We ate here the first time yesterday. The food was delicious not to mention the Nutella bites.!!! Service was top notch, even if our servers thick Italian accent was hard for me to understand. Now that's authentic.!!

Yelp
Great view of the golf course! Very casual place with great food and refreshing drinks. This restaurant has golf course views and a very friendly servers. The pizza here is cooked in a high heat pizza oven and comes out with a crispy and slightly charred crust which we really enjoyed. I tried the arancini and calamari appetizer with pizzacata for dinner.

Yelp
Great pizza spot. Lots to choose from. They have much more than pizza, so don't make a decision until you see the menu. Cute place and the service was great.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. A group of us had dinner on the deck overlooking the golf course. The pizza (even the low carb stuff) was amazing. Follow-up visit with friends and it was even better!

Yelp
Our first visit was last night. We ordered the Travolta wood fired pizza and a bottle of wine. Our server, Spencer, did a good job taking care of us. The restaurant was remodeled to achieve a feel of Italy. I would give it another visit to try some other items on their menu!

Yelp
To toast my 900th review on Yelp, I knew I needed to do something a little special and go with someone to celebrate. Who better than my Yelp Bestie/Cousin Chelsey H.?! This location has been bookmarked to try as I saw a Yelp friend review and saw they had Caprese. If you know me, you know I'm a Caprese aficionado and always looking to see who locally has the best Caprese! When you pull into the very large parking lot, you will want to enter from the right side labeled patio. It can be a little confusing as we walked to the left as it was labeled restaurant, but it was the golf resort side. Once we entered, the hostess was very friendly and asked if we wanted a window view which was a nice touch. Genuinely amazing how beautiful the view was as we both witnessed a sunset and the rolling in of a monsoon storm. The beauty of Arizona in the summer! To start the meal, we began with Caprese which despite the menu I didn't realize didn't come with balsamic. Shame on me for not reading it fully lol. I personally love balsamic glaze and/or balsamic vinegar, so we asked the waitress (receipt says Serena - we didn't catch her name sorry!) who grabbed a bottle which added the little something I felt it missing (personal preference). Before we could even finish the caprese salad, the beautiful vegetariana pizza came out. Pictures do not do it justice as this pizza was perfectly crunchy and the vegetables cooked perfectly! Since we were on a roll, we ended the night with the brownie that's topped with vanilla gelato and whipped cream. Though the texture didn't seem quite brownie-like, it was incredibly rich and delicious! Ended the meal on a sweet note. Definitely recommend this location if you are in the area, and when I have a craving for good pizza then I'll drive the 10 miles from my house to try this place again!

Yelp
Amazing pizza with an amazing view! It's prime patio season and the Pizzicatta at Painted Mountain golf course has one of the best. They serve two different styles of authentic Italian pizza, both out of a fancy pizza oven straight from Italy. Each bite is bursting with authentic taste from fresh ingredients. Next to the pizza, the meatballs are my favorite thing on the menu, but I've yet to try anything that I don't like. The homemade pasta and deserts are also delicious.

Yelp
Sitting on an outdoor patio , January with a view of the golf course and mountains beyond and great food to come. Three of us came for lunch and wound up with neopolitan style margherita pizza . Crust was awesome, tight with a great chew. Well cooked and ample sauce to cheese ratio... it's the proportion folks. I like mine a little stiffer on the crust but I ate the entire thing, followed by ice cold peroni in a glass. Service was perfect.. lovely server, good knowledge ( I mean he hails from Umbria) And he knew how to bring food with a flourish. Grazie, prego, you get the idea. And the basil on the pizza is not scorched to ash, thank you. It's placed on the pizza out of the oven. We spent two hours chatting relaxing, Italian style. No push to change over the table, no hanging out for the end of our luncheon. This was service , perfect service!!! And the view, and the food. Epic!

Yelp
We had heard good things about this restaurant and came here for dinner. They had a very extensive menu. Pasta made in house, amazing pizzas and Pinsa which is an old Roman pizza idea. We ordered the meat lovers pizza, the Regina Margarita pizza, a salad, and the Arancini. Everything was very good. The pizza, both of them. Were absolutely incredible ! They have a fabulous pizza oven here in the restaurant that must be magical. The pizza specialist is Chef Matteo. We sat on the balcony which overlooked the golf course. As the sun went down, The gentle lights come on. ( See Photos )They had live music outside, not too loud but , a nice volume. We also had a great server, Zach. We got to meet the owner, a real Italian from Italy and the pizza chef. Also Italian. We found the restaurant is amazing. The ambience is beautiful. So excited to have good pizza in Mesa.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! Menu has tons of amazing options, everyone should be able to find something they'll love! The views of the golf course are very nice. Service is always prompt and food comes out amazing. Highly recommend for date nights and birthdays.

Yelp
Went here for my hubby's birthday with our family. Server Ben is extra helpful and from Philly like I am so it felt extra "at home". The pizza dough is amazing-they do wood fired Neopalitan style- and the pasta was house made and delightful, the bolognese in particular was a huge hit. Where they fell short for me was dessert- cannolis were meh but the cocktails and food were pretty spot on. Nice place with beautiful views of the golf course and TONS of seating. We never worry about getting in here. Great place to day drink and munch on pizza!!!

Yelp
This place is situated on a golf course. The inside is very nice but if the weather is nice you can't beat the patio the overlooks the course. The menu is extensive and eclectic. A wide variety of homemade pastas and calzones as well as salads and desserts. But the real winner here is the variety of pizzas. I e tried 3 pizzas and 2 pastas and every bite was delicious. Amazing variety of flavors and everything fresh. Lastly, the service is top notch. Friendly, efficient and attentive. Highly recommend - we will be back.

Yelp
The atmosphere was fantastic by the golf course, I loved the live music with Shane on the patio. Authentic Italian pizza place with wood fire oven. Fresh ingredients. Service was excellent. We will be back soon!

Yelp
OK so finally had opportunity to go back and try the past dish. It was nice to be greeted by our first waitress who remembered us and welcomed us back. She also welcome people behind us that came month ago.. That was impressive. Way to go Megan. So it was pretty busy for Tuesday night which I was happy to see. Initial contact from our new waitress Paola took little long but I saw she was busy attending to other tables. But once she came to our table rest of the service was outstanding. Ordered Farmhouse salad to start which was really good. Nice combination of greens and they all tasted fresh. Salad dressing was also yummy. Then off to long awaited pasta dishes (which ended up being like 10 days ) already had pizza to go 3 times prior. Ordered the Bollognese Dello chef and lasagna as main dish. My dish Bollognese Dello chef.. I don't know what to say.. Looked yummy first initial taste I didn't fall off the table and had my moment of silence.. But man it was still yummy.. First I thought the portion wasn't big as I expected but as I was eating I realized it was perfect amount. Not a big fan of lasagna in general. But man I would say this lasagna was one of the best I tasted at a restaurant. Cheese was nice and yummy not over powering. One thing I was little confused was the extra tangyness in the marinara.. Never had that flavor of Mariana sauce on lasagna but still tasted yummy. Over all I was very happy with the dishes. I'm so glad I finally have my favorite local Italian restaurant that is also close to me. . Also loved the fact that manager or owner (I don't remember ) that was walking around the table greeting guest and asking how things were. That was very nice extra touch, you don't see that much anymore. I did ask him as to why they didn't carry certain type of pasta dish I love.. He did inform me that they are adding some new dishes to the menu.. Which made me smile.. .. This place gona suck all my money dry. . I ain't gona lie, after my dinner I was tempted to order pizza to go.. (I love their pizza ). But my belly told me I shouldn't.. So I opted not to.. Thank you guys for opening this place...

Yelp
For clarity, our server first alleged that mushrooms and mozzarella were only advertised on the on line menu for pork braciole. When we checked the actual hard copy restaurant menu, mozzarella and mushrooms were also advertised as part of the recipe. Since we never touched the dish, of course, our server was required to remove it from our bill, since he brought the untouched dish back to the kitchen. Of course he offered to bring us a different dish that we would be charged for, but by then, our meal was ruined. Most restaurants that falsely advertise and are called on it, both apologize in words and actions (by offering to pay for my beer, for example) . The business manager's response is telling. No apology for false advertising and no action to rectify the offense. We won't be going back. Arrogance has no place in the hospitality industry. We will be going to Goat and Ram for our pizza.

Yelp
Hey y'all, This place was on my radar for awhile and finally had an opportunity to visit. I love authentic pizza Napoletana so I was excited about this place. They really promote the other pizza variety, Pinsa Romana, but don't bite, it's not nearly as good as the wood fired pizza Napoletana. They'll tell you about how much healthier it is for you, and much like everything that's offered as a healthy alternative, it's falls short on flavor and texture. it's not nearly as delicious and doesn't have the wood fired char crust. We tried 3 different pizza varieties and they were very good. The appetizers were just ok, we had the mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad and Italian fries. The service was a bit awkward but decent. There were a lot of noisy and buzzed golfers in the far corner who disrupted the ambiance. I would like to go back and try some of their pasta dishes. I recommend this place.

Yelp
My BFF treated me to lunch on my birthday 2 days ago. It was a perfect day for lunch on the patio. Food was fabulous as usual. We shared an appetizer, Frito Misto; I had Wagyu meatballs, she had Gnocchi Sorrentina, Tiramisu for dessert plus a freebie dessert as well. Got a small pizza to go(meat lovers). Everything was outstanding, including the service from our Italian waiter.

Yelp
We were in Northeast Mesa the other day running some errands and decided to stop at this restaurant based on the outbreeding and the fact that we were hungry for some Italian food. The restaurant's been open for a month it's at the painted mountain Golf course so they have a great patio overlooking the golf course. It was a little bit of a cool night and we sat on the patio and unfortunately there were no heaters because they did not have any propane for the heaters which is kind of a big mistake and part of the reason why I didn't give them five stars. The service was outstanding though. We ordered a Caesar salad the split and it was delicious. The lasagna was outstanding The only thing that I would recommend is just a little bit more marinara on the plate with the lasagna it was a little on the dry side. The sauce was delicious though. My wife got the linguine with meatballs and it was also delicious. The pasta noodles are homemade which I can't even begin to tell you how much of a difference that makes when you're eating Italian food. The bread which you have to ask were by the way is house made and it is perfectly prepared. I will be stopping back again in the future hopefully they will have heat for the patio lol. I want to try the pizza too. They have the so many pizzas to choose from.

Yelp
Tucked away in the golf community of Painted Mountain, you're greeted by a large patio with string lights and Italian music- Sinatra, Buble. The chefs might be seen tossing pizza dough to entertain the crowd. There is a small bar and huge inside restaurant that could easily accommodate large groups. The place just opened so I'm giving a lot of grace, I would love to come back and update to a 5 star review. Our server didn't seem very well trained, she never took our menus away or our salad plates and empty glasses and we had to ask for water refills. The red wine I ordered was $14 and was maybe 4 oz. Tiny. It was served at room temperature. I asked if they had any chilled red and they don't. Red should be slightly chilled imo. The Old Fashioned was small and had regular ice instead of the traditional large cube or ball. Superfood salad, again a very small portion for the price but it was fresh and tasty and the house made dressing delicious. We asked for bread, it was brought with no butter or oil until we asked. I think it was sourdough but it was very good, dense with a nice crust. I ordered the homemade Gnocci with Gorgonzola sauce and the sauce was rich and full of flavor. Perfect dish. Husband ordered the Chicken Picatta and other than the pasta being a bit undercooked (just a bit under el dente) it was perfect. It was our anniversary so the owner suggested a special desert - I don't know what it's called but it was almost like a donut or begniet, fried, sweet, drizzled with Nutell. Perfection!

Yelp
We came here for dinner on their opening night tonight. 11/6/23. My whole family is so very excited to have this fun, new, vibrant, exciting and delicious authentic Italian restaurant in the east valley. We've lived in the area for 23 years and have longed for a restaurant that promises to offer what this restaurant has been advertising on social media for the last few months. I realize this was their opening night so I do take that into consideration while writing this review. However, since they do have an existing restaurant already located in Carefree, I would expect a lot of the issues with food quality wouldn't be an issue as it's not entirely a brand new concept for this owner. After reading some of the Carefree location yelp reviews and the owner's responses to them, I am a little nervous to write about our true experience here tonight but I really want this place to succeed so I am going to share my thoughts in the hopes that it will be taken as constructive feedback. I am actually a little shocked at some of the owner's responses to customers who are trying to share their valid experiences about his restaurant- We ordered the Caprese salad but never got it. The instagram photos made it looked delicious. But I guess I will never know if it's good. The calamari and shrimp appetizer is severely overpriced at $18. It is a very, very small portion and the presentation is so unappetizing. It is served in a small, crumbled brown paper bag that is soaked in grease. The calamari portion was two tentacles and a a few rubbery rings with a three, tiny little shrimp mixed in. Not even remotely good. The fried cheese $10- Came with five Cisco brand fried cheese sticks in the crumpled up paper bag. I'm Not a fan of presenting greasy fried food in a paper bag that soaks up all the grease. The Bolognese- This dish is one of my absolute favorite hearty Italian dishes of all time - Unfortunately this entree was Absolutely flavorless..The sauce was so bland and the meat mixture was minimal at best, not hearty and tasteless. The whole Dish was extremely disappointing and I'm not even sure the pasta was Pappadelle. (NORTH in Kierland has the most delicious Bolognese) There's no comparison between the two dishes- and I don't even think those chefs are first generation Italian. The Calzone was exceptionally dry. We had to ask for a side of red sauce to dip it in just to eat it. The Chicken Parmigiana - chicken was so thin- so over beaten it ruined the texture - fettuccine way undercooked- again, very bland, no flavor, no spices. No lemon, no capers The pizzas. Ugh. I LOVE PIZZA. I eat pizza probably three times a week. I will go to the same restaurant everyday and switch between pizza and Bolognese and be happy as a lark. Both of the pizzas we ordered were SO DRY And one crust was burnt all around the edges. The texture of the crust was so HARD and Very "milly." No yummy pillowy softness or decadent cheesy bites to be had. You really need a side of sauce to dip it in just to keep you from choking. We each ate one piece of each pizza and didn't want anymore. The Amatriciana pizza also did not have any fresh mozzarella as it stated on the menu. I was also surprised that they brought out the old pizza hut jar of powdered parmesan instead of offering freshly grated cheese for the pizza. The dessert menu offered some lovely choices that sounded delicious but after the experience we'd had so far with the food, I wasn't excited to try a dessert. The ambiance seemed fun in the bar area and on the patio but the dining area over by the windows with the "golf course view" is so sterile. Very bright white walls and ceilings with nothing to soften the acoustics. I would recommend installing several long velvet drapery panels to cover a few of the sterile walls in the area and add tablecloths - it will really help to add warmth and coziness as well as soften the acoustics in that area- we were also sitting under a speaker and the music was BLARING IN OUR EARS. But, I will say, I did love the FRANK SINATRA ballads. Perfect music choice. I would also add candles to the tables. (How can you not have candles??) I hope you don't take offense to this review as I probably want this restaurant to succeed as much as you do. There's a few restaurants near you that are going to be your competitors (Alesias, Vito's, Pacinos, Spinatos- even RWB will give you a run for your money with pasta dishes) if you don't fix some of these things right away people won't return to give you a second chance. I know I won't. We (six of us) spent almost $200 eating here tonight and not one person enjoyed anything they ordered, or are excited to return nor would we recommend this restaurant to anyone else.. Staff were kind and professional. The black menus with the itty-bitty teensy tiny writing are impossible to read. The do Offer gluten free pasta and pizza options for $5 up-charge.

Yelp
We finally have a Neopolitan Anna pizza place in the far east Valley.. Read lots of reviews on their place up and carefree, so we wanted to give this place a try. They did not disappoint. Went early because I figured this place would get busy as it's pretty new. We were immediately sat and greeted by our waitress.. A few drinks from the bar, which were tasty. But when you come to a place like this, you come for the pizza. Pizza was cooked perfect. The sauce was tangy the cheese was high-quality.. my son devoured his pizza and is already requesting to go back. This place seems like it's gonna be a very busy spot in the East Valley. Will likely be our new favorite pizza joint. can't wait to explore the rest of the menu ..

Yelp
Went to Pizzicata for the first time this week after my parents RAVED about it. They were right! The food is very authentic on this Mesa golf course. We sat outside in the evening which was truly the best atmosphere to spend time with family and share great food. The service was very attentive and kind. This is not a fancy place by any means but the food is great!

Yelp
Actually chose this place cause it was close to where we were staying however, once I walked in, saw the oven and smelled the air. I knew the food was going to be delicious. True Italian pizza just like I remember in Naples. I'm not sure if she is the GM or the owner, but the person who visited our table was from Venice, adding an even bigger flair of authenticity to the food. We had a pizza of each style. One Napoli style and one Roman style. Both were authentic and delicious. The other true benefit of eating in an a real Italian restaurant using an authentic Italian oven is that it cooks the pizza very fast so the food came out quick. In addition to the food, there was live music and being able to sit outside with a table warmer, live music and that food made it just an overall incredible finish to the night.

Yelp
Overall a nice Friday dinner with a fun view of the golf course from the patio! Stopped in around 6 pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. We were seated at the patio per our request since the weather was nice, and the golf course view was great! We ordered a house salad, Leonardo pizza, and veal parmigiana. The house salad was basic but good and decent sized portion, the Leonardo pizza was very tasty as well. The veal parmigiana was good but for $30 my husband would have appreciated a slightly bigger portion --it seemed noticeably small. Service was just ok, it took a while to order and receive water and other tables received bread which we never did. Food came out relatively quickly although I could tell my pizza had been sitting out for a few minutes before I received it. I'd definitely come back to sit on the patio and enjoy a pizza or a different pasta dish! It's a casual environment and a big space so it was nice to just walk in and enjoy.

Yelp
Stopped in here for dinner one night. Located at Longbow Golf Course. We sat at the bar but there was a large dining room and a patio as other options. It looked like there was going to be a live singer after we left. Service was quick. The cheesy breadsticks were very cheesy and the pasta was a perfect Al dente. Next time I'll have to try the pizza.

Yelp
Cheerful service, unassuming ambience and outstanding food. We tried the garlic bread which was crispy and thin, so even eating a whole plate of it didn't ruin our appetite. It was flavorful and served with a side of hot homemade marinara. 10/10! I tried the eggplant parmesan with fettuccini and the portion size was worthy of the $22 price tag. The pasta was absolutely delicious. Perfect bite and chew. The eggplant was stacked high and was so tender it melted in your mouth. 11/10 Such a nice surprise to find such delicious Italian right here in Mesa. Can't wait to go back and try more options.

Yelp
I just realized that Painted Mountain Golf Club is where I've been playing for the past 6 months and it is home to a great Italian restaurant. I took my wife here for pizza and she loved it. They are all one size, 12 inches and the dough has a crispy and chewy crust. I had the Travolta pizza and my wife had the Sophia Loren. Both were delicious, but I should have had them hold the bell peppers on the Travolta. We had the Caesar Salad which was fresh and topped with shaved parmigiana. Service was excellent and attentive. I paid using the QR code on the receipt which I don't think the server ever had a customer pay that way. It kinda startled the server and wanted to double check that I in fact paid.

Yelp
We had a reservation and walked in to be told we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Hostess was rude and clearly overwhelmed, the entrance is super crowded with nowhere to stand except directly in front of the door. Once seated, the tables didn't appear to be all that clean, and the parmesean and peppers were sitting out on every table in little open dishes with spoons to add them to your food, which seemed odd and unhygienic. We had supposedly booked a 4 course dinner for $59 but there was no mention made of it when we arrived. (I'm glad, I saw another couple that had one of the dishes and it looked horrific) We ordered the calamari and shrimp $18 and recieved and absolutely tiny portion of clearly pre-frozen shrimp and calamari with what appeared to be a bottled sauce. It was bland, and chewy. We asked for a side of marinara which took almost 20 minutes to actually get. We should have just left but it was valentines day and there was no way to get into someplace nearby without prior reservations. I tried to order a fried calzone only to be told they couldn't do a calzone because they needed to "save room in the fryer" again, we should've just left. I settled on a pizza and asked for no onions or bell peppers, and my wife ordered a pizza as well. $19 for mine $17 for hers When they arrived, my pizza had BOTH bell peppers and onions on it, the server made an excuse that it was the "wrong pizza" (she wasn't writing down orders) and had it remade. What arrived was a floppy, soggy mess with what tasted and felt like bagged, shredded mozzerella, cheap pepperoni and generic tasting italian sausage. My wife's pizza looked like a pre-made pizza with added toppings. There was no more than 6 small pieces of chicken (super dry, and clearly the bagged grilled chicken cubes from the store, fake grill marks and all) and the jalapeños were clearly canned. Through all of this, the service was terrible and it took forever to get anything we asked for. (Straws, silverware, side of marinara, etc.) Overall, we spent almost 90 dollars for pizza that little Caesars wouldn't serve, and bland calamari. (The wine wasn't bad, it's the only thing they don't claim to make in house.) Straight up, not a good time...

Yelp
I have dual citizenship Italy/US and travel to Italy several times a year. This is the best, most authentic Pizza and Italian food I have found in Arizona, period. Anyone who does not give this place 5 stars should be ignored as they know nothing about REAL Italian cuisine.

Yelp
Pizza Sunday and wanted to try someplace new. What a gem! Seating overlooking the golf course with Mountain Views in the distance. We ordered brick oven pizza -AMAZING! Definitely my new go-to place for pizza.

Yelp
The wood fired pizza at Pizzicata is Amazing! I picked up a Marinara and a Regina Margherita pizza as a to go order. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I was in and out in 10 minutes from order to exit. The pizzas were exceptional. The dough, cheese, and sauce were all high quality and the char on the pies was perfect. I have eaten wood fired pies at all of the top rated restaurants in the Phoenix Metro area and this place ranks among the best I have had by far. If you like Neapolitan pizza you must try Pizzicata.

Yelp
Save your money--Do not waste your time; service was absolutely horrible, the food came out over an hour after ordering, while watching multiple tables order, eat, and leave before our food even arrived at the table. The server apologized and stated that desert would be on him. When we all ordered desert, the server tried to go back and say he would cover one--seriously?! Our food came out in segments--there were 6 of us at the table. By the time the last plate arrived, the first three people were finished. The food was less than good--the calzone was almost warm, and the fettuccine was overcooked. We didn't dare send it back knowing it took over an hour to get our food. The place was not busy--I counted 10 tables taken, and one was more than 6.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the pizza. We got one of each styles and to be honest we both liked the texture of the traditional pizza the best, however the pinsas were also really good. I can't wait to come back and try the homemade pasta. It was really beautiful sitting outside with the heaters as well.

Yelp
The pizzi is very good. And it is expensive. Try Vito's Mesa instead? Better & larger pizza, same price, lefovers for the spouse. Vito's reminds me of the very first pizza I ever had, at the age of five years. It is freaking awesome. So is Pizzicata. It's just lots less pizza for the bucks. Vito's makes their own sausage. I swear it has a wee bit of tarragon in it. VIto's pizzi just rocks and rocks.

Yelp
Everyone I know is excited to have a new Italian/pizza option open up in our area, as not many places ever make it to our neighborhood. The owner and chef actually moved here from Italy in 2018, so that seems to foretell a promising future for the restaurant. The food - on two visits, I tried both types of pizza: the Pinsa Romana Hawaiian, and the Napoletana Margherita. Both were very satisfying. They say the Pinsa Romana is 48% less sugar and 85% less fat than traditional pizza, but don't let that scare you because it tasted great. My husband ordered the Filippo (fried) Calzone which sounds like a greasy, heavy mess. It was actually very light and airy. It was kind of like fry bread and his sausage was delicious. The service: Now for the bad news. The service is abysmal. On my first visit, we sat on the patio. It's nice out there, and they have heaters if it's too cold on these rare AZ December nights. But our server didn't come around much. On my second visit, the server gave my friend and I menus and took my drink order. Then she disappeared. After thirty (!) minutes, we sent another server to fetch her. Still nothing. My friend had to hunt her down, where she claimed she didn't know we were her table. (?) But she'd taken my drink order. After that huge snafu, all we got was a weak apology and a shrug - no other attempt to smooth things over with us. Even though I've found the food items here to be fairly good, if Pizzicata doesn't train their servers to have some better customer service skills and check in on their tables, I'm not sure I want to dine here regularly.

Yelp
New restaurant in the area, so we thought we'd give it a try. Big open, airy place overlooking a golf course. There is also patio seating. Food was good and service was so-so, they were definitely under staffed.

Yelp
Great spot for awesome Italian food on the golf course. A pleasant addition to the area for great Italian food. We ordered a delicata pizza which has such a nice crisp and chew to the dough with a lighter feel for a pizza. Very good and I would recommend! We also got the rice meat balls. They are good but I felt like it needed more sauce and more meat in them. Good still none the less. Great spot for Italian food and I would come back soon to enjoy more food here

Yelp
This is my 4th time at Pizzicata and has become one of my favorite place in NE Mesa. The previous times I've ordered pizza, and it was excellent. We sat at a table inside this time, it was a little too chilly for the patio. I ordered the Wagyu meatballs for an appetizer, they were cooked perfectly and absolutely amazing flavor! And for my entree I ordered the Bolognese Dello Chef, that flavor of this dish was absolutely incredible. Megan was our server and absolutely loved her! Can hardly wait to go back!

Yelp
Went here with a family group on New Years Eve. The customer service was very friendly and welcoming from everyone. We had a great waiter who was really helpful and had great patience with our group. We ordered many different appetizers and entrees, and one one had anything bad to say about any of the dishes. Everything was made fresh, and the bread and pasta were excellent. We had a geeT time with good food and it's a great place for a large group.

Yelp
I must say, this was a surprise. This place is like a restaurant speakeasy disguised alongside of a golf course gift shop. The view is beautiful, I mean it's got a golf course and mountains as a backdrop. I came in alone so I sat at the closest bar, as there are two. They also have a beautiful mosaic wood fire oven for their pizza with a fire inside burning that I could stare into for hours. In the short time I was there, I was customarily greeted by the owner who checked on me and made sure I was happy. This small gesture just adding authenticity to the experience. I would certainly come back and try their other dishes even tho I fed myself a three course late lunch lol

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try this place since she heard from some other people that the pizza at this new restaurant was good. We were promptly greeted by the owner and seated outside. It was a cooler night and he turned on a heater for us -- you know, when it is under 60 degrees in AZ, we think it is positively frigid! :D I had a Peroni which was served cold and tasted fresh (hey, it is the small things! old, stale beer is just sad). I was given the option of using a glass or not. I don't drink a lot of beer, but that was a good start. My wife ordered a simple pizza Regina Margherita: "Pomodoro San Marzano, fior di latte, parmigiano reggiano, basil, evoo" in the Pizza Napoletana style: "Wood fired oven neapolitan style pizza with a unique flavour and texture. Cooked at 900° for 90 seconds!" The sauce and cheese had great flavor and the crust was very tasty. The leftovers also reheated nicely for lunch the next day with a brief stint in a hot skillet. (Next time, we'll try the Pinsa Romana style) While my wife likes to try the simple items, and I think being able to execute the simple things well is very important -- if nothing else, it leaves nowhere to hide poor quality ingredients! -- I like to look for things that are a little different. Under Calzones, I noticed that some of them indicate "(fried)" and I was really curious what that would look like. I ordered the Filippo (fried): "Fried calzone with fresh mozzarella, pomodoro San Marzano, Italian sausage." This is calzone with simple ingredients wrapped in a fried dough and served with sides of marinara. I really liked the sausage since it did not overpower the other ingredients. The fried calzone dough reminded me of frybread at the Navajo taco places. I think I prefer the regular calzone. Still, it was an experience and I ate the whole thing :) Our waitress was very attentive and the staff seemed friendly overall. The owner checked on us and was very present overall: checking on other tables and ensuring that people were happy. I will definitely return to try the Pinsa Romana and the pasta -- probably on different visits since the calzone and a pizza was a lot of food for the two of us!

Yelp
Omg! Amazing Italian restaurant! I've been hoping for a restaurant like this to come to Mesa! It is delicious!! Do your self a favor and try it! You will be so glad you did! We've been back many times since our first visit. The ravioli stuffed with short ribs was outstanding. My husband said the eggplant was as good as his Italian sisters eggplant and that's saying a lot! I tasted the veal piccata, it was the best ever. I'm ordering it next time.

Yelp
This place was definitely delicious. I believe it's a new place in East Mesa. Come try it out for yourself. I'll be back.

Yelp
This was our third time eating herei. The food was excellent. The owner visited our table several times during our meal to make sure we were pleased with everything. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone . It is definitely worth the money for the quality of the food and the portion size. The pasta is homemade and the sauce is amazing. There is just enough garlic and spice to not overpower the tomato flavor. Excellent!!!
