Google
We found this place by accident. Just walking around and like most gems in New York you find it by mistake. The food was amazing. The service was incredible. John the bartender was awesome. The place has a really good vibe to it. None of the pretentious bar vibe you get in most new York restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place to go hang out and have a few drinks with outstanding food. It is only 2 blocks up to get to central park to walk off that food

Google
Amazing, inexpensive finger food! The wings are especially good! There’s nearly always a free table and I’m thankful they keep the music down (best part). The Guinness is “ok” because they unfortunately rush the pour. But overall a great stop to make on the way home from work!

Google
P.J. Carney's is a nice little pub right off 7th Avenue and Central Park South. The location of this establishment is fantastic, and my veggie and grilled chicken salad was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it here if you're looking for a nice pub atmosphere near Central Park.

Great atmosphere, fantastic service, and delicious food at PJ Carney's Pub! The staff is always friendly and attentive, making sure your experience is top-notch. Whether you're looking for a casual drink or a hearty meal, this pub has it all. Highly recommend stopping by for a memorable night out

Google
Amazing cheeseburger sliders - hit the spot after a long day of travel. Would recommend ordering at least 4. Nice chilled atmosphere. Amy was an exceptional host who seemed like she was taking care of everyone, she often checked in with us! Drop by!

Google
Visited on a weekday about 3pm. Good service, atmosphere, and food! Happy hour afternoon prices. Beer was crisp and cold. Doors were open for fresh air. Alexis was a great server! Free wifi.

Google
Ordered two sandwiches, sliders, two beers, a spiked Arnold Palmer and a sprite. Saw the prices on the menu so when we got a $100 bill, i knew it was off. I see $54 for the food which only amounted to 45 from menu pricing. Server gave an extremely fake OH I’M SORRY I must have switched the two numbers. I’m really upset I didn’t catch her on the drink total until we left, charged us $37 for two beers which menu priced at $16 and the sprite and spiked Arnold Palmer. So the sprite and around Palmer are $21????? Why she was so fake, ripped us off completely and knew she did. Don’t come here if from out of town and trying to enjoy your day, will overcharge you if you don’t pay attention.

Google
Atmosphere is outstanding is this pub. Really comfy and relaxing. Special for this bar is the centered bar in the middle of the room. Everything is designed around it, which let you focus on the important things while you are here ;) Food was delicious and especially the steak perfectly on point.

Liz R.

Yelp
My haunt definitely. John and Michelle are the best bartenders, always unbelievably fast and attentive, we love them!

Daniel M.

Yelp
I been coming to this pub for a good while and it was due for a review. I have to say that after my 3 rd visit this year, i can attest tk consistent food quality for Burgers, sandwiches and great onion soup. The bartenders know we work nearby and we bring friends over, the lady bartenders are pretty friendly, food service is quick once you order and they make a very good aperol spritzer!

Yelp
I left my hat at the restaurant yesterday, called them immediately after I realized to tell them I'd be there when they open the following day. The woman working said to come whenever and that It would be there for me. I take 2 hours of my time traveling to and from P.J.'s all for the hat to no longer be there. now I wasted my time & money on transport and am down my favorite hat. Would've understood my hat not being there if I didn't call them immediately after letting them know I'd be back to pick it up. can't believe that my item managed to get stole. hope that management sees this absurdity and makes up for my lost time and stolen item. Blown away by the lack of respect for customers items. they do have a good Guinness pour though.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with a friend after he raved about how amazing the chicken wings are. The bar is cute, its big and takes up the majority of the restaurant. The waitress was really nice, and we ordered french onion soup, and chicken wings with sauce on the side (recommended) We started with the french onion soup, and it was really good! It was priced well and it was as good as any other french restaurant i've ordered from in the city except it didn't cost $18+ dollars and this bar isn't french lol. The price was amazing also - I actually think it was only around $8 which was the perfect price! It wasn't too salty, and had a really good flavor. There were 3 of us that ordered the same soup, and we all thought it was really really good. I didn't know what to expect from the chicken wings. I thought they would be the regular wings I'm used to which are fried with no breading, but these were very heavily breaded. Def order the sauce on the side because the naked wings are crispy and have a lot of flavor on their own. The ranch dipping was really good as well. We over ordered, and they are very filling wings, so just be aware of that when placing the order. I really liked this bar and I will be returning soon!

Yelp
Classic old school style Irish bar right in the middle of Manhattan. Quite small inside so you might feel cramped if your attempting to roll in with more then 1 person. The wooden bar is right in the middle and wraps around, there's a few seats with tables off to the side if your looking for a bit more privacy also. The menu offers more then the standard bar and pub options if your looking for a lunch or dinner spot. The bartender was sweet and friendly, and fast. Guinness poured perfectly so I would come by and check them out again. Conveniently just steps away from Central Park too.

Ronald R.

Yelp
The food is good, when we try to order the waitress rolled her eyes at us. there's a skinny waitress with a bob who doesn't seem to like non white people Unknown to her our table was a group of dentists. she was so inattentive, got the orders wrong, and didn't bring them at all still waiting for her to come back.

Sharon S.

Yelp
Brought my sister and teen kids and my mom for lunch after seeing the long lines at Carnegie Deli over the holidays. They seated us pretty quickly and we each had pretty delicious, juicy hamburgers. I would give the service 5 stars. The ladies who served us were super friendly despite the fact that they were so busy. We really enjoyed our lunch and appreciated the wonderful, quick service. Thank you!

Gogo L.

Yelp
The finger food are good, The house wine alse not bad, like it. Love the Vibe there, plus it is so close to the central park. The service is great, when we wre there, theres just only one waitress, and she did a great job, running around.

Donna U.

Yelp
This is my second time here so I clearly enjoy it. The place is very small with most of the space taken by the bar. Sat at a high top and the initial service was a little slow but not too bad. Once we ordered everything was fine. Had a few beers, sliders with fries and 12 wings, crispy. The sliders were great, nice and meaty. The wings looked like they were dipped in batter or something with a few sauces on the side. The "batter" was a little thick but didn't stop me from finishing them all (2 of us).

Evan M.

Yelp
Crotchety bartenders that obviously don't like what they do. Wanted to like this place because of the proximity to my work, but nope, unwelcome from the minute I sat down. Probably for the best, since I'd dump too much money in here after work anyway. Next!!

Maggie H.

Yelp
We swung in to grab some food and a couple drinks and had a great time! The staff was super kind and personable with all of us. We enjoyed sitting at the bar in this hole in the wall pub. The food and drinks came super fast and the food was decent. The Shepard pie was fantastic and the brown sauce to put on it made the dish. Overall, I'd recommend it!

Samir R.

Yelp
Get the Gaelic burger. Great beer. Friendly service. Good spot to get away from Times Square for lunch.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Intimate space but the food was great and the service was amazing. With the crowd present the night we were there, I was expecting delays but the server didn't miss a beat!

Darlene E.

Yelp
Awesome little place. We stopped in for a drink and were lucky enough to get seats at the bar.

Whitney P.

Yelp
This is exactly the kind of place I love. Great, quick service, potent and delicious drinks, and comforting filling food. My husband loved his shepherds pie and my BLTA was exactly what I wanted.

James M.

Yelp
Small Irish bar with a good crowd after work is out. Great atmosphere and great bartenders. Bartenders were courteous and friendly. Definitely a nice place close to Columbus Circle.

Asa L.

Yelp
OVERALL: -Cool, old-school sports bar vibe with vintage furniture and decor -Probably great if you're grabbing a drink or hanging out to watch a game -Don't bother with the food unless you're desperate. -Service is probably faster if you order at the bar. ARRIVAL: Came here in November for dinner because I heard it was a long-running institution with good burgers. My partner and I were looking for somewhere inexpensive to get dinner in the area on a weekday evening before seeing a movie. The atmosphere lived up, but the food and service were disappointing. There were not many people there and most of them were seated at or around the bar. We were one of maybe 3 groups that were sitting at tables. FOOD/DRINK: I ordered one of the specialty burgers on the menu. I ordered the burger medium and it was significantly overcooked: burnt on the outside and mostly grey on the inside. I am not picky about the quality of ingredients from a place like this, but the beef tasting low quality on top of the poor preparation made it unjustifiable. The grilled peppers/onions tasted bitter and dirty (I'm not sure if this is something you can taste, but almost like the grill they were cooked on was dirty) and had char marks, but were still raw in the middle. The fries were fine, but forgettable. Essentially, there were too many bad things about the food for me to chalk it up to a bad day. We only had water so we did not try any drinks. The portions were definitely reasonable at least. SERVICE: I think we would have had a better time if we had gone back and forth between our table and the bar to order food/drinks. However, we were sat at a table by a woman who came back right away to take our orders so we went along with the table service. She was very friendly and polite. The food came out quickly enough, but we didn't see our server for a while after she dropped off our food (to get ketchup and refills on water). The same thing happened when we were looking to get the check and leave. There were not many other people there and most were seated at the bar. So I'm not sure if she was busy or if it was because we were seated in a booth that was slightly tucked away behind the door to the kitchen. ATMOSPHERE/AMBIENCE: The authentic, old-school aesthetic of the place is probably the best reason to stop by, based on my experience. There was a beautiful, wooden bar in that created a rounded square in the center of the room so people could sit at 360 degrees all the way around it. There were televisions all over the room each playing different games or sports channels. The majority of the furniture was made from that dark, heavily-laquered wood that seemed to be built into the floor and walls of the establishment. There were stained glass dividers that separated some of the booths and tables. It feels and looks like the kind of local sports bar from a tv show (like Cheers) that is only sustained by locals and regulars for its simplicity and down to earth charm. SUGGESTIONS FOR BUSINESS: -Nothing specific other than to look closer into how food is prepared. I would have loved to come back for a drink or to watch a game if our food was not so bad.

Jim R.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dining experience here this past Saturday evening. The atmosphere of this old Irish sports pub was lively and friendly, without being overwhelming. We sat at one of the many tables surrounding the bar. The service was prompt and friendly. The beer and wine were great and the burgers, fries, salad, and salmon were delicious and the portions very generous. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering its location a block and a half south of Central Park. We were just tourists but would come back often if we lived here.

Maggie B.

Yelp
I came here with a couple of friends after a show at Carnegie Hall. It has a bit of a neighborhood bar feel. Not quite a dive bar, but definitely no frills or fuss. Their cocktail menu didn't have any signature drinks, just the classics. I loved the boldness of listing the long island iced tea as the first item on the menu. I had a glass of the house wine. They were very heavy with the pour which was much appreciated. My friend got the house sparkling wine and it was also a generous pour. I didn't eat but my friends had the sliders and chipotle ranch chicken sandwich and enjoyed them. Our waitress was not super attentive, but service was fast. Nothing really special here but nothing to fault either. It's conveniently located near the NQR so it's a decent option if you're in the neighborhood.

Megan M.

Yelp
The food, service and drinks are great. The prices are still reasonable. We love to sit at the bar and enjoy the games. Try to chicken fingers and burger.

Angela W.

Yelp
Stopped by here after running some errands and ordered the Caesar salad and their chicken nuggets! I was pleasantly surprised at the chicken nuggets as they were homemade, real pieces of chicken, perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! The nuggets also came with a homemade honey mustard which was extremely tasty. I also ordered a red sangria, which was equally delicious and had just the right amount of strength! Definitely check this place out!

Bryan P.

Yelp
A trip to NYC is not complete without a drink in a historic Irish pub. Being fair skinned and red haired (back in the day) I fit right in. It was a slow Sunday afternoon and the bartender was super nice and welcoming.

Kimberly T.

Yelp
This was my first visit. I ordered the Turkey Club and my friend had the steak sandwich. We enjoyed the meal while sitting at the bar. The pub is small and seating is close but not uncomfortable. The staff was nice and responsive. The wait time was reasonable so we had no complaints about anything.

Sheryl R.

Yelp
Had 2 beers 1 Irish coffee and potato skins. When I received my hand written bill it said 20$ beer 14$ Irish Coffee and 11$ potato skins. I was charged 71$. Hmmm! When I asked they waitress said oh that's a mistake. I'll say a $30 mistake. Check you bill carefully

Chris K.

Yelp
Stopped in for Sangria on a Saturday morning. We got to sit outside and the location is great just a block from Central Park. They have happy hour everyday from 11-4.

Charlie B.

Yelp
Always go here on New Years Eve as it is a great place with excellent staff, However the food quality has gone down. The french fries were overcooked and hard. The bratwurst sandwich was soggy. I would expect more for $18. Plus a 12 ounce bottle of Budweiser was $10. As a New Yorker I may look for a new place.

Chalene R.

Yelp
It's not often that I go out of my way to write a review. But eating at this restaurant was a very unfortunate ending to an otherwise lovely day in Central Park. The service was poor, the beer was off and the food was atrocious. It was so bad, that I ended being sick later that evening (and I have an iron stomach). I would not pay to eat/drink here again.

Tyiki W.

Yelp
I've been to Carney's a few times. One of my friends loves to go there after work for drinks so I'm always meeting him there. It's kind of a small place. Still comfortable and the food is pretty good. I love the wings there. My favorite thing about the wings is that although they I get bbq they are still crispy. Some places the wings become soggy after adding a sauce. The service has always been good but it can get pretty busy at times.

Ron K.

Yelp
I used to visit PJ Carneys regularly with a good buddy of mine before we both moved from Manhattan to the outer boroughs. Excellent bar food and drinks! Wonderful vibe and good people! Hope to be back again SOON!!!

Dalton W.

Yelp
Great service, great food, and great location! I don't visit New York very often, but I try to make a point to get their fish and chips when I'm in the city!

Jesse C.

Yelp
How do you first of all Bianca, starr. If we need to see more stop reading, but if you need more, she breathing. The alcohol selection is top notch, as a frequent traveler, they have every bourbon you're looking for. The culture stays open past midnight past 1 o'clock, which is what you're looking for. If you push the central park, stay close and come here. But tip well or fuck you.

Mikey R.

Yelp
Nice Irish spot near Central Park but fairly pricy. $10 for a shot and $9 for a beer. Other than that enjoyable

Barry S.

Yelp
I tried PJ Carneys because I was tired of waiting for service at Carnegie diner. I've now been there twice (same reason). They have a limited pub-type menu so I keep getting the veggie burger (am a vegetarian). It's ok but the sweet potato fries are delish. I prefer to eat outdoors on the sidewalk because of COVID and the waitress service out there has been great! I would recommend.

Leo M.

Yelp
A good Irish Bar - just don't expect more I discovered to my dismay that my favorite bar in the area is gone and so took a chance on PJ Carneys. Nothing fancy, but the burger was served rare as requested and the pint of Guinness was properly poured. Extra kudos for the waitress who was very busy yet quite attentive. Happy hour was a disappointment since I neither wanted bland beer nor had a hankering for chicken wings. But even at 'full price' I'd come back again.

Brad H.

Yelp
I completely enjoyed my visit to P J Carneys... A classic Irish bar that's just a block and a half south of Central Park. It's cash only so bring enough to cover your selections. The guy sitting next to us said he had been coming here for 50 years. The bartenders knew his name and brought his usual without a word from him, so he must be telling the truth. It was a loud place full of every type of person from some nice suits, to a crowd that seemed to have just finished the day at the firehouse. The bartenders seemed to know just when to show up. They did an amazing job of juggling the many requests for drinks and appeared to remember who had ordered what. The drinks were mixed well and the pours were generous. Decent prices... If you want a small Irish bar, this place works.

Cheryl N.

Yelp
I give a lot of 4 star ratings, and this place is definitely good, so I wish I could give them 3.5 stars, because they are definitely A-Ok, but just short of 4 stars for me. Our server was super quick and always there when we needed her. The margarita I had was strong and the burger was MASSIVE and juicy. Prices are reasonable for a place so close to Central Park. Great spot for an afternoon drink, a little gnosh, or a big meal. They have lots of TV's filled with sports. The bar area is cool and the place is crammed with seats, but still enough breathing room to eat, drink, and be merry. Overall, I think this place is a gem, and will keep this on my list of go to places when I am in the neighborhood.

Peter M.

Yelp
Classic Irish bar next to Carnegie Hall. Guinness on tap with a good selection of draft and bottled beer. Food price is moderate for downtown NYC, with staples like fish n chips, shepherds pie, broiled 1/4 chicken and a spicy fish sandwich. Chips are smaller than usual, but still well cooked (crisp but tender in center). Malt vinegar available on request. Service was prompt and courteous. Atmosphere was classic wood paneling with lots of mirrors around a central bar with seating for 20-40.

Sarah B.

Yelp
We were in town for NYE, we were staying right up the street. This is a small little pub, we enjoyed it however the beer was a bit warm. The lace also seemed a bit dingy. We would probably give it another shot if we were staying nearby again.

Sean P.

Yelp
Great service and nice vibes. Good drinks and food. Geraldine is always top notch. Been to PJ Carney's about three times and will visit again!

John R.

Yelp
Great local Irish bar just south of Central Park. It feels very local despite being in the middle of the city.

Julia X.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday during happy hour. BF wanted wings and this was the best deal for the size and amount. He loves it and gives it 5 stars. I had a side of sweet potato fries with garlic mayo for I think $6. It was okay. Nothing special, little burnt/crispy. Pro: awesome happy hour, chicken wings, friendly service. Con: none really.

Ruby J.

Yelp
The food was great and our server was very attentive. They have a nice selection of beers and whiskeys, in addition to their great food options. I am only offering 4 stars because they could have had more gluten free items on the menu. We'll be back!

Tyler D.

Yelp
This place is a perfect combination of Patrick O'Tooles and Flanders O'Finnegans in the best way. The lighting is really dark so its hard to see anything other than the cold beer in your hand which is good for me because I look awful 90% of the time. Their playlist definitely needs more Coldplay but otherwise I would say they are very much team #goodvibesonly. Looking forward to facing my crippling depression here tonight!

Jonkat S.

Yelp
The hangover cure!!! While on a 4 day bender I stopped here on day two. Had the chicken Cesar swap and a couple brews. As a a guy from southern Cali this place defidently aided in the longevity haha Party on

Fernando G.

Yelp
Great establishment. Have been here on several occasions with a close friend of mines, always after work. Great service and good food to munch on while you drink away! Bathroom is quite small, now that I remember. HAHA! It's all good though.

Roger S.

Yelp
The waitresses have a lot to do with making this place great. Plus the beautiful interior and wooden bar and tables; the location; the atmosphere; and the view of the street through the big windows with ligh flooding in.

Mark M.

Yelp
Cool little Irish bar - it's small for sure! Tables around the perimeter of a central bar with plenty of seats. Stepped in out of the light rain after a great stroll thru Central Park. We didn't plan on staying here long as we would be having dinner shortly after but wanted to stop in somewhere and have a couple of drinks. Typical bar, in pretty much every sense of the word. Good beer menu with lots of variety. We stayed long enough for a couple of drinks and an order of Nacho's which were good, can't really screw up Nacho's can you lol. Location is cool as it's just outside the Park and diagonal from Carnegie Hall. Like I said earlier if we weren't planning on having dinner elsewhere in the city we would have stayed here longer and ordered something more substantial. I would definitely come back here again and would probably do so when I'm going to CP.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Came here last night for trivia with my good friend and fellow trivia aficionado Ingrid S. Why were we doing trivia at a tourist bar in the armpit of midtown on a Sunday night during a slight wet snow storm thing? Because we were in 9th place for our team trivia in the league we're in and had we not gone Sunday we would have scored "0" for the week and dropped to like 25th place. Uh, yeah...no. I'm competitive. PJ Carneys is the only bar that has trivia on Sunday so here we were. We had to kill hours all day finding stuff to do because they start trivia at 8pm (not gonna lie, a 7pm start would have been more considerate and likely have resulted in us maybe getting dinner here. Upon walking in we sat our selves in a corner table to the immediate left of the entrance door. This resulted in us being cold for much of time we were here. The bar was about 50-60% packed so we could have moved but then we would have felt tight so we stayed put. Our waitress was really nice and brought us over menus. Neither one of us was in the mood to drink (work tomorrow, we were tired and we had imbibed enough earlier) and I didn't want to spend $5 on a cup of soda or a cup of regular hot coffee. I did eyeball the mac & cheese on the menu and made a mental note to come back and try it because mac & cheese is one of my favorite things on the planet... The trivia host was SUPER awesome and fun. Really good guy who told me we would probably go really well since there were only 3 teams playing (including us) and they weren't league-ers. He also had a bunch of tshirts, keychains, sunglasses and other swag items to give away from Budweiser, Jim Beam, Dewar's and more. Sweet, sweet. We won first place and unlike EVERY SINGLE OTHER bar in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn the first place prize was not a gift certificate - it's a round of shots. A round of shots that we did not get because we hadn't ordered anything. I get that business is business - but if there is a purchase minimum to play/win trivia then that's an announcement that should absolutely be made clear before or when trivia actually STARTS. I would have gone for a baby guinness or something sweet since I didn't want to drink something insanely esophagus burning...just thought the delivery of that message was so rude. Having left empty-handed after rightfully winning first place at Trivia was a shame, but the one massive pro is their location and my train home was located very conveniently across the street. 1 star for our very cool waitress and another star for their location making it very easy for us to get out of there. I hope to never come back here again and if I am stuck doing trivia here on a Sunday so at to keep our team's weekly stadings, I won't be giving PJ Carneys any money then either so they can keep their probably substandard mac & cheese, lol. Enjoy your ocassional tourists PJs because building any sort of relationship with actual city residents who could equate in repeat business doesn't see to be your forte. I would not recommend this bar to anyone.

Brian K.

Yelp
i came here for lunch and had the fried chicken sandwich at it was really good! friendly staff too. sangria was good (not as good as san diego sangria though)
