Independent since 2007, Plae’s creative American cooking, serious wine list, and polished service make it a perennial date-night pick. Recent renovations refreshed the room while keeping signatures intact, a progression noted by regional business and food writers.

Sara was a great server for dinner. The specials are always worth checking out. Lovely array of desserts. The wine list is nice. The brussels sprout bruschetta with balsamic drizzled is very popular.

Drove through green bay and scoured all online reviews for a delicious lunch restaurant. So glad we decided to come here! Everything was super delicious and well prepared. I had the lunch trio - the roasted tomato bisque is PERFECTION - and my husband was very happy with his Cuban panini. If we are ever back in Green Bay we would definitely return here!

I had only been to Plae Bistro for drinks, so I joined my friend for dinner recently and the food was amazing! Service was great too! Highly recommend!

I recently dined at Plae Bistro and had the Wagyu beef steak—and let me just say, it was phenomenal! The steak was perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and melted in my mouth with every bite. You can tell they use top-quality beef and treat it with the care it deserves. The presentation was elegant, the flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the service was just as impressive—attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance was cozy yet refined, making it the perfect spot for a special night out. If you're a steak lover, do yourself a favor and order the Wagyu—you won't regret it. Plae Bistro has truly raised the bar. I’ll definitely be back!

Visiting Green Bay and came here for dinner with my family. They were very accommodating and because we were such a big group, they gave us their chefs table private area to sit in which was perfect. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their food. My mezcal Paloma was delicious. Very nice sized servings of food for decent prices and we were all stuffed. Our server was wonderful and attentive for our large party which was awesome. I think my only complaint was that my food was a little too salty for my taste but I'm also extra careful with my salt intake. Nonetheless we were very pleased and would definitely go back again.

I liked it. Good service. Cool interior. French onion soup was awesome. I got the duck and thought the sauce was overpowering that came on it.

Google
A fine night of dining with my daughter. Excellent ambience, customer service, and cuisine. Try the salad, but get a small one to leave room for dessert. The clam chowder was to die for, as fresh, as if I had caught it from the lake myself. Definitely one for the memory bank!

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and our front desk recommended this place. We walked in and the atmosphere was beautiful. The staff were friendly, Irene was a doll!! Food was amazing especially the Brussel sprouts bruschetta (local cheese and sour dough bread) absolutely divine and the Lemoncello cake was decadent light & fluffy. Thank you, we had an incredible experience. Everyone is helpful I highly recommend this place if you're ever in Green Bay, WI.

Yelp
The atmosphere is the nicest part of the experience. As far as food in the area goes, this is probably the truest nice restaurant. (Not as many gym shorts or sweats. ) The service was good at first, but the server was less attentive as the meal continued. The food was tasty but not life changing. Be ready to spend a pretty penny. Not a big menu for picky eaters. Hard to find options if you dislike shellfish, mushrooms, and bell peppers!

Yelp
We arrived super early for our reservation and had a fantastic time at the bar. We had great service, delicious drinks and the amazing Spinach & Artichoke Dip. We had so much fun! When our table was ready, we ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Our server brought out their bread service, which we enjoyed while we waited for our lobster Mac and cheese. We also ordered drinks and then proceeded to not see our server again for more than 30 minutes. Our drinks and our appetizer were delivered by other people, but our server never returned to check in on us. About 10 minutes after we received our Lobster Mac & Cheese Appetizer, we decided to take it home and we were more than ready to order our entrees. Unfortunately, our server never returned and we proceeded to wait...and wait...and wait. It was 30 minutes after our appetizer arrived that our server finally returned to our table to check on us. At this point, we we're pretty upset and disappointed in the terrible service we had received, especially because our server had checked in with the table next to us atleast twice in the 30 + minutes since she had been to our table. Since it was already almost 8:30, we asked her for our check, as we had been at Plae for two hours already. Our server never returned, instead sending out the manager. We were incredibly disappointed as we had a very pleasant experience before we were seated in the dining room. Sit at the bar...enjoy - - - we definitely won't be back to the dining room!

Yelp
8oz Bone in chicken breast w/ truffle goat cheese mashed potatoes and garlic green beans. 10oz walleye from Lake Erie w, truffle goat cheese mashed potatoes and mushroom späetzle and better than sex cake to go! All the food was great! Service was good and not a long wait!

Yelp
I made a reservation for a large group during Draft Week. I had read reviews and heard this was a great place, it did not disappoint! The reservation process was easy and it was simple making updates as our needs changed. It is a big out of "downtown" but well worth the trek, in a strip mall off the freeway. The beer/wine/cocktail menu is pretty extensive and has something for everyone - including some local beers! The food menu is beyond burgers which was a crowd pleaser - with some healthier options as well! The ambiance is great for a work dinner but not too stuffy. Memorable items for me were the Brussel Bruschetta, Artichoke Dip, bread with assortment of spreads and of course flourless chocolate case.

Yelp
I have been here 4 or 5 times, I visit when I am in town. It's always a delicious meal. This time we had the spinach artichoke dip in the bread bowl, I had salmon while my husband had a steak, and the peanut butter mousse for dessert. Speaking of desserts the portions are HUGE and they bring out the tray to look so you are stuffed but can't turn it down. Be sure to make a reservation it's always packed. The servers are top notch, knowledgeable and nearby without being annoying.

Yelp
The food here was beyond tasty and the drinks were strong. Our server was incredibly kind and I liked the comfy booth we sat at near the bar.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
The table started out with the seafood nachos, roasted brussel sprouts, and tuna. The nachos were incredibly delicious and the tuna was really as well. I had the Chilean Sea Bass - hands down the best fish I've ever eaten. The table shared carrot and BTS cake. Get either you won't be disappointed! The place is classy without being stuffy and the service was impeccable.

Yelp
This is now our favorite place. Used to be Chefusion but the new owners have destroyed that so go here for quality and service

Yelp
The "Hello Summer" drink was the best part. Came in on 6.7 at 430pm. Only a few people in the establishment. Ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese that was like eating baby food mush and tasted like straight garbage. Had one bite and that was it. For dinner, hubs had pecan walleye and I the bear claw. For the fish, the crust was SOFT and so sweet it tasted like a fish cookie. it was nasty. I had the bear claw and only ate two bites because the meat was so tough, it was like cutting leather (and i got it medium rare!) The Risotto was so spicy that we couldn't even eat it. And the service was SLOWWWW. Took 1.5 hours for an app and entree. Not even dessert. I would NOT come here again as there are better places and better food.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the new deck patio outside. I have come to dinner a few times here and wasn't a fan. Now that I have had lunch here twice in the last few days it's absolutely amazing and a new favorite lunch spot for me. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. Will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
This is the best food in Green Bay in my opinion. It's consistently great every time. I was sad to see they removed the Cajun pasta with andouille and shrimp, but thankfully the Ora King Salmon on the specials menu more than made up for it. On the menu it's billed as the waygu of the sea. It did not disappoint. Wow this was spectacular. My wife and I often order salmon when we're out and we both agreed that this was the best salmon we've ever had. The texture was unbelievable. It actually melted in your mouth. Wow. The mushroom spaetzle was also fantastic as were the green beans. My wife's scallops were also awesome. Love their cocktails also. I am a bourbon guy and really enjoy the JB Old Fashioned. Love the vibe at this place as well. Good date night but also casual enough for a mid-week meal. Really like the vibe of the new bar. Service is always fantastic.

Yelp
Wagyu steaks were a disappointment this evening. I do not recommend them. The manager or chef should have given compensation, as my guest did not even eat half of their entrees. They only offered dessert to the two guests. They took them to go:(

Greg C.

Yelp
Service was terrible and even drinks and bread were bad (seriously how does a place like this F that up?). Mac n cheese and goat cheese appetizers were good as was the seafood entrees. Steak entrees were almost entirely inedible though. Definitely wont be back.

Yelp
Decent food. Quick stop before we got to Door County. Friendly service. Had a good meal and my friends enjoyed their beverages as well. My only knock was that it took like 45 minutes for our food to come out.

Christina B.

Yelp
We went with a group after work. Our group was mainly not from Green Bay and us from the area wanted to show them a good time! The ambiance is certainly on point inside. I ordered the smaller filet and ordered it medium rare. When our food was brought out, it was another 10 mins before our server came back to check on us. My steak? Well done. No pink in it and definitely nowhere near medium rare. When the server came back, my steak was well over half ate. The flavor was delicious albeit overcooked. She offered to have them make a new one which I declined. A place like Plae? Should have steaks come out as requested. The server comped one of my two glasses of wine for the steak. I'm not sure what the general practice is for overcooked food but taking a glass of wine off the bill doesn't seem to fit anywhere near the price of the steak. I understand, I ate it:) Everyone else's food was great! Our server was super friendly, helpful, and minus the wait time after bringing our food out, she was an amazing server. The old fashioned? was delicious!

Yelp
My partner and I were so excited to try Plae Bistro - I'm gluten free and had heard raving reviews, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. We had to ask for the complimentary bread, and when we received it, my bread was cold. I'm assuming it was in the freezer due to it being gluten free. We ordered the grilled cheese bites and the tomato soup which was OK. While the steak was great, the garlic green beans were hard to bite through and cold. Overall, I would recommend avoiding ordering their "gourmet" mac and cheese. It was cold and flavorless, especially for $24. We will maybe give them another try for a cocktail night, as they have great ambiance, but you may want to be particular when ordering gluten free food.

Yelp
Great food, service, and ambiance. Had many meals here and never disappointed. Knowledgeable servers and bartenders. Comfy cushioned bar stools.
google avatar

Geoff P.

Yelp
My overall experience here was quite good. As a solo diner, I sat at the bar, and the bartenders were very helpful, friendly, and attentive. The French onion soup was very good - it perhaps could've sat under the broiler just a little bit longer to get those crunchy brown bits you want to peel off the bowl, but that's a very minor issue. The truffle burger was a great flavor combination. The truffle flavor was present but not overpowering, the burger was cooked perfectly, and the mushrooms were excellent. My only concern, and this is again very minor, Is that the burger is so large that it is nearly impossible to eat as served. You either need to cut it in half or deconstruct it. The only disconcerting element from my dinner was the presence of two very large flatscreen television with sports programming on them. In a restaurant that is clearly trying to capture an upscale, urban, bistro vibe, the presence of two enormous flatscreens was really quite disconcerting. They did not fit the ambience of the room at all, and it felt like someone was trying to find a way to jam a tiny bit of sports bar into an otherwise upscale dining location. That said, the overall dining experience was quite good. If you are a fan of good bourbon, make sure to ask for their allocated list. They have a surprisingly large number of excellent Bourbons that would be difficult to find in a major metropolitan area, let alone a city the size of Green Bay.

Yelp
Loved the food! Great dim lights as well. Service was a bit hesitant but they kept it professional. But overall i loved the experience.

Yelp
This place is nothing short of amazing, the best of GBY right here. We eat here every time we visit for Packer games. Simply a must!!!

Yelp
We were in town on vacation and stopped in for dinner. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. We loved the tall, private booths. Tamara was our server and she was fabulous! My son has a few food allergies and she was very considerate of them, along with the chef. The food was delicious! My son got a steak cooked to perfection. My husband and I split a couple of appetizers and a burger, which I can honestly say was the best burger I have ever had. Even the house Cabernet was better than most. I wish this place was where we lived because we would come here a lot. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We were in Green Bay our first night in Wisconsin looking for places offering gluten-free on their menu, and this place came up on Yelp. We drove down without reservations but were still able to get patio seating for the dinner hour. The inside of the restaurant looked really beautiful with bold colors and decor, but the patio with umbrellas was perfect for a warm summer night. Our server was friendly and got our drinks working right away. We loved the craft cocktails! My Scooby-Doo was both beautiful and delicious, and the husband was pleased with his gin and berry concoction. Portions ended up being large, so we ordered more than needed. The salad was fresh with a delicious vinaigrette. The husband of mine tackled a whole brussel sprouts bruchetta (not gf) all by himself, which he said was too much but enjoyed the crispy sprouts. With two of my favorite things on the menu, I couldn't choose between the grilled cheese points and lobster Mac n cheese, so obviously, I had to do both. The gf grilled cheese points were more like pitas filled with cheese. A little flavorless, and I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the tomato soup. The lobster Mac was much better with gf pasta and big chunky bits of lobster. Just felt like the Mac n cheese sauce was also suffering from lack of seasoning, though. That was all we could stuff in our tummies, but the menu was extensive with so many delicious sounding gf items. I definitely wish I lived closer to try more of them.

Yelp
SO DANG GOOD. I am a bread girly & omgggg the bread service here was AMAZING. I legit could just eat that and leave. Anyway, steak was great and green beans were cooked well. The shrimp was definitely more spicy than i thought it would be but still great! The dessert was great! My coworker got the better than sex cake and omg i wish i would have got that!!!! OH, not pictured but the seafood nachos were to DIE FOR. highly recommend. I like the vibe in there too.

Yelp
Great food, but even better service. They stated late for us to finish our dinner. Waitress and all the staff were excellent
google avatar

Geoff H.

Yelp
The first time I went it was really good but the last two times I was disappointed. Today I got the fed pork chop. It was over cooked but served hot unlike the risotto. I didn't eat most of the food. Admittedly I didn't say anything as I didn't want a fuss. For a meal at $70 a person I would expect it to not need to be sent back. Honestly I'll simply go here less and I'll order more conservatively (salad and soup, not steak).

Savannah J.

Yelp
stunning no notes! pricier side but so good! we had a reservation but we were late about 15 mins and still got seated pretty quickly! Holiday drinks and specials!

Yelp
Our second visit. Not as good as the first. Maybe different chef. Perhaps the remodeling that was going on had an effect. If we are back in the area I would give it another try, but not as wowed as the first time.
google avatar

Cassandra S.

Yelp
I know we eat here A LOT! but I just want to give a shout out to Sydney. What an absolute sweetheart. And definitely a team player as she was even helping out the busser. He didn't need it but she obviously likes to lend a hand. The burger was delicious. Mac appetizer was sublime.

Chris C.

Yelp
With all the amazing choices, I went with the truffle burger. I now crave that daily!! So yummy. My husband had a steak and was very pleased. Great place. Will be back soon!

Aaron B.

Yelp
Snuck in here while in town for car shopping, food was insanely good and felt really cool vibe in the restaurant, waiter with the Long hair and the beard was also cool will be coming back every time I visit for work.

Greg

Yelp
Great place, price a bit steep but hope the right chef is working. Nice spot, great wait crew!

Yelp
Plae Bistro surprised me a little bit in Green Bay. We have recently been spending a lot of time in Green Bay and have found some great restaurants but they are all very casual. Plae Bistro is a little more dressy (which is great) and I felt a little underdressed (my bad). The restaurant is very elegant inside with a modern flair and upscale lighting. I love the electric fire wall fixtures which will be wonderful in the fall/winter. There is a lot of outdoor seating which is perfect for the nice summer evenings. We started out with a great Oregon Pinot and a Blueberry Basil Smash -delicious! Our server was very friendly and just a tad slow getting our orders. However her friendliness made up for it! We were eating light French onion soup and side salads. First the French Onion Soup was amazing. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. The salads were great too! The only think that kept this from a five star is our soup took about 35 minutes to get at a not so busy restaurant. Looking forward to visiting again.

Yelp
2022 update: Plae Bistro has only improved over the past three years. The food remains impeccable, the drink variety and quality have improved (I was delighted with the Proper Old Fashioned). Strongly recommend

Yelp
This is my favorite place in town. The food is always amazing, the atmosphere is great and the service is always top notch.

Yelp
Lovely decor, most excellent service and lots of amazing gluten-free options! The portions were larger than I anticipated but I was glad to have leftovers. I would travel from Ohio back to Green Bay to eat here again someday!

Yelp
GREAT JOB POST-COVID We stopped in for dinner on May 28th. THANK YOU for being open! We were greeted by a hostess and got a table that was separated from the next booth because of the natural high booth wall. Our server was very friendly and took extreme caution at our table. She used a separate napkin to deliver all items to the table (So happy they don't wear gloves, all that encourages is never washing hands), so knowing they were trained on this step and actually did it was great! We started out with the Grilled Cheese Bites for an app and they were delicious! So yummy and the presentation was awesome. For dinner I had the Gourmet Mac 'n Cheese + Chicken and Bacon and the wife had a chicken dish. Both were great! The inside was beautiful! I think it got remodeling sometime in the past. Will definitely be back next time we are in Green Bay.

Darcy P.

Yelp
Love everything about Plae Bistro. Atmosphere, food, and drinks. I had the Halibut with Risotto last time I was there. Done to perfection.

Yelp
Great food, service, and ambiance! It was quite busy for a Monday but we made reservations and although we showed up a bit early, we got seated right at our reserved time in a couple's booth. Water was already set on the tables and our waitress greeted us and talked about the specials right away. She was really attentive and super nice. Can't say no to complimentary bread with dipping sauce, butter and olives! It was quite the treat! Love how they support the local Great Harvest, that bread was delicious! We also ordered the grilled cheese as an appetizer and it was great! We ordered scallops with the day's veggies which ended up being green beans and a ribeye with green beans. Everything tasted great! Pricey overall but it is "fine" dining after all. Overall the experience was a 4/5 and would visit again for special occasions ONLY.
google avatar

Sharri U.

Yelp
Great Plae Burger and good beer, too! This place is great for burgers, or you can get dressed up and come here and have a steak, as well. Let me forewarn you, the burger is huge but very tasty. Excellent service, too.

M O.

Yelp
i took a chance with this place since I was in town for business. The Brussel Bruschetta was delicious. The staff was welcoming and very attentive. I would highly recommend as this is a wonderful place for dinner with a great ambiance.

Yelp
They are working with some great flavors here. That is what the rating is all about mostly. Ambiance is a bit upscale, but not stuffy. Cool bar and always busy. Waited longer than I would have hoped for an expected for having made reservations. Not that I wanted to rush or anything, but I thought the two plus hours I spent in there (without drinking) was too long. Our server was great when he was there, and as we were further into our experience, he became less available. The final straw was when we were finishing up. We were ready to leave with a card in hand for likely 20 minutes with no signs of him at all. He came back joking about 'wanting to leave us to enjoy our evenings more,' but I was not amused and wanted to leave long ago. If the food was not so good, I would easily drop it down to a 3 star review. Artichoke dip appetizer - ridiculously good, and unexpected. French onion soup - delicious. Somehow the bread they put in there does not get completely soggy. The bread - he asked a couple times if we would like this (it is complimentary I believe), but they really should just bring it. It should be brought when we hit the table. I don't think they forgot, I think it is a tactic to make you buy more appetizers and cut down on food cost. Didn't like that really. The bread board was good, two different warm kinds of rolls. A whipped honey butter I believe it was, some oil, and an olive tapenade. Ribeye, medium rare, risotto, asparagus. I opted for the one on the regular menu; they had one that was a special with a sauce on it, but it was like $8 more. Everything about the steak, the presentation, the risotto, the asparagus was phenomenal. Worth the price tag and the reason I will certainly come back. My partner enjoyed her wahoo off the special menu. The server gave her risotto instead of mashed potatoes which she ordered, then made a comment about him thinking he got it right. Ah, no you didn't. Even if you did, it is not an acceptable comment. The mashed potatoes were not edible; they had way too much raw garlic. She also enjoyed her fancy bottle of tea they had. Lots of room for improvement, but I found it difficult to rank under a 4 because the chefs deserve so much more than that. Step it up front of house :)

Yelp
Some of the best tasting and fanciest food i have ever had. What I appreciated the most: even though the place is more expensive/high end, I did not feel out of place one bit.

Marti T.

Yelp
This was my first time at Plae and I was very excited. It is a "fancy" and popular place, however, it failed to meet my expectations. Our reservation was at 6 and they had already ran out of one of their specials. The risotto was absolutely awful. It was pure mush and you could taste the canned (tinny) tomatoes in it. Our server was excellent and remedied the situation with another side. I don't know why people pay $40/meal when it is at $20 quality. You can go to any other Supper Club and get a higher quality meal.

D F.

Yelp
Had the pan fried walleye with a carmel sauce that was amazingly delicious! Great appetizers and left with a piece of carrot cake that was so big that my mouth dropped when I saw it! Amazing!
google avatar

Rich D.

Yelp
We were warmly greeted and promptly seated by a very friendly hostess for lunch. Our server, greeted us and took our drink orders. Irene was attentive, professional and couldn't have been nicer. We ordered a goat cheese appetizer first and then ordered an apple and pear salad and a Plae burger with vegan chili. Everything was prepared well and tasted delicious. Portions were good but left no room for dessert. If I lived in Green Bay, this would be my GO TO restaurant. YUM

Yelp
Went to Plae for FAT TUESDAY and wow the Jambalaya was AMAZING! We have always loved Plae for their great food and wonderful staff, but that Jambalaya was the best we have ever had. And we've been to New Orleans! 100 stars WORTH IT! Topped it off with some boudin balls and gumbo. Plae should consider putting that delicious Jambalaya on the menu, permanently! It was THAT good. Best Dinner Ever!
