Mymy Team Opens Mission Brunch Restaurant Plain Jane - Eater SF

"The team behind Mymy, whose banana soufflé pancakes and eggs Benedict draw weekend brunch lines in Nob Hill, has spread out to the Mission, opening a new business there called Plain Jane. The brunch-focused restaurant from owner Sang Hyuk Lee is now open at 1000 Guerrero Street, a space that was previously home to Hoffman’s Grill and Rotisserie." - Caleb Pershan

Plain Jane is a hidden gem that will capture your heart with its vibrant vibe and delicious eats! It’s the perfect spot for a fun brunch with friends. I recently tried their French toast combo, which features a genius twist with cottage cheese, along with their chicken salad and lobster eggs benedict, each dish was amazing! And the drinks? Absolutely fantastic! The mimosa and pistachio latte are my absolute favorites. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Google
We came for brunch on a Sunday @ noon and ordered the red velvet pancakes, the chicken and waffles, and the french toast. Everything was delicious (and not to mention beautifully plated)! The only downside to our experience was the wait—i think we waited 20 minutes to be seated, but it was worth it. I would definitely return!

Google
Their red velvet pancake is super yummy! This is the first brunch spot I went to where their coffee is actually good. It’s pretty spacious inside and the staff who took my order was really nice and friendly.

Tried the sweet flight and really enjoyed it, especially the french toast. They were so good! I’m definitely curious to try their waffles next time. Parking looked like it should’ve been easy, but I still had a hard time finding a spot.

Google
There weren’t any vegetarian/vegan options. I kinda had to ask for eggs and not add any of the meats so the plate just felt incomplete. Also, all my friends that got regular plates had very nice presentation and seemed like good food. This just goes to show how little thought they put into vegetarian/vegan options.

Google
It’s a cute brunch place to hang out with the girls and there’s always a line outside but the waiting times can go quite long. We waited for about 30 min with no option to put our name down for a reservation which was quite annoying cause you’re just left standing outside in the street. Other than that, the food is really good. I personally had the Chorrizo Ave Scramble which I found too oily but honestly super tasty. The club sandwich was also very good. My favorite things were the lattes, we had the red velvet latte and the extreme toffee latte and both were delicious.

Google
I’ve been to Plain Jane a few times and most recently last weekend; We ordered the red velvet pancakes, French toast, and chicken club sandwich to share. They offer a wide drink selection, and you can’t go wrong with some coffee and mimosas. The food was tasty, although we found the service to be rude this time around. We felt as if they were trying to turn tables as soon as they sat them.

Google
By far the best brunch in the bay area - especially loved the red velvet pancakes, pistachio latte, and crab salad Definitely going to revisit multiple times to try other menus too

Yelp
Hark! Upon this fair Valentine's morn, my beloved and I did elect to partake in a repast most divine from Plain Jane, delivered by the swift hands of DoorDash. Verily, we did indulge in the sumptuous Monte Cristo and the Seafood Eggs Benedict, dishes which did enchant our senses and stir our very souls. The Monte Cristo, with its exterior crisp as the autumnal leaves, bore a harmony of sweet and savory delights--a culinary sonnet that did serenade our palates. And lo, the Seafood Eggs Benedict, graced with a rich, golden hollandaise akin to the sun's own bounty, did crown our feast with a most noble splendor, each bite a verse of ambrosial poetry. Thus, in the spirit of love and merriment, our Valentine's date was transformed into a celebration of epicurean art. Plain Jane hath indeed captured our hearts, and we await with bated breath the next encounter with such divine fare!

Yelp
Plain Jane is a brunch favorite so expect it to be super popular and busy! However service was efficient and fast, was able to get a server to take our order as soon as we sat! I ordered the Norwegian Benedict which had smoked salmon, tomato, and guac over bread; it also had a side of AMAZING crispy potatoes and capers. Perfect portion and taste, everything was deliciously made. Eggs were superb and notably made perfect. Pretty solid spot! I would recommend coming here with a lot of friends so you're all able to share family style and try different dishes together, as it was hard to decide what to get because they all looked so interesting!

Yelp
My preferred brunch food is a place whose menu has tons of fusion options, and Plaine Jane delivered! We ordered - cinnamon roll latte: meh, get coffee elsewhere - chorizo scramble: holy shit was the chorizo perfectly meaty, and the side of potato's incredibly crispy - red velvet chicken and waffles: a hefty serving! - Hong Kong French toast: almost like they breaded a PB&J sandwhich. Not too sweet, and small enough that one person could eat it alone (though we split sweet and savory because why choose?) Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating (though outdoor on the sidewalk with meh ambience) - limited street parking nearby, but close to transit and main mission area - they have a GF pancake option available

Yelp
Plain Jane is one of my favorite brunch spots to eat at. The times that I've gone, I've gotten there relatively early before 10 AM because I know that it can get packed and I usually see a line outside. I don't believe they take reservation so I say go early for breakfast on the weekends. I love the variety that they have on their menu and the different coffee options they offer. I usually order the Montecristo with either potatoes or a side salad and I really love their pistachio latte. The location is very well put together and the staff are friendly and very efficient. Everything they make is very fresh and flavorful.

Yelp
I gave one star for how they treated customers at the door. We arrived at 1:30 knowing that they close at 2 pm. Basically the server was very rude to force us order and kept saying you have to leave right at 2!!!! At first we understood and was thinking about to order. But her attitude and loud voice made us very uncomfortable and we left immediately. Just a warning, donot even try to come here is it's with one hours of they closing time. They will probably treat you very badly so you will leave on time:).

Yelp
I ordered the Coastal Benefit and overall I enjoyed it though it had some room for improvement. The crab meat was a bit dry and the miche bread was this super tough sourdough-like bread that had me chain sawing the crust. Wish it was an English muffin instead. However the shrimp was well seasoned and really delicious. The potatoes were also nice and crispy. The portion sizes here are huge! My friends ordered the Classic Benedict and Chicken and Waffles and they both really enjoyed their food. They close at 2pm but you should get in line latest 1:15pm as we arrived around that time and were one of the last parties they sat. After ordering our food, it did take a bit for the food to arrive but it wasn't anything crazy.

Yelp
This place is located at the corner of the street. The entrance area has the bar and a couple of tables. There are more tables further inside the restaurant. The decor was nice and the restaurant had lots of light inside. I was sat almost immediately at a two person table. The servers quickly helped us and the food came out at a reasonable time. This place offers a variety of unique dishes. I opted for the sausage and shrimp grits, a pistachio latte, and my partner ordered the coastal benedict. I've never had grits before but it was delicious and the flavors of the shrimp and sausage complimented each other. The coastal benedict had lots of flavor and a good portion of crab meat. The crispy potatoes were a nice balance to the benedict. I do recommend trying any of their specialty lattes because the pistachio latte was so flavorful. I would definitely come back to enjoy with some friends.

Yelp
Brunch is the most important meal of the day, it's my personal favorite. I'm very big on a light breakfast and then doubling down with a heavier lunch, and Plain Jane delivers. The establishment itself is very lovely, being able to host large parties in a cozy intimate fashion. The plates, mugs, and food made me feel like I was at my grandmas house because it was so cute and so filling. The service and care we where given while we came was top notch, bringing all our food at the same time, ensuring my cup was always full, and keeping an eye out for us and our needs. Plain Jane is the type of place I want to go for my birthday, to celebrate, and to enjoy my friends company. The food is amazing, with a menu that has flavor and variety. I've been a few times now and they never miss!

Yelp
We came by on a Friday morning and there was NO WAIT at all! Amazing! The service was amazing. The coffee was also pretty good. Monte cristo: so so so yummy. I've had it once at another restaurant (a bite) and I didn't really like it. But I was drawn to the photos so I ordered it and it was so delicious. I need to get a bigger stomach so I can eat more Hong Kong style french toast: very sweet and yummy but definitely meant for a dessert and would be too much as a meal. Chicken and red velvet waffle: the waffle was very tasty and filling. The chicken came out incredibly fried and delicious. No notes here! Lobster scramble: there were piles of lobster. We were nervous because we thought that the lobster might not be fresh/taste as good but it was yummy! Not at all fishy and absolutely delicious!

Yelp
Plain Jane | San Francisco 1. Red Velvet Pancakes -- white chocolate cream cheese, banana, chocolate chips, and maple syrup 2. Chorizo Scramble -- garlic chorizo, tomato, cilantro, jalapenos, avocado pepper jack, corn tortilla, served with crispy potatoesE Plain Jane in San Francisco is a charming brunch spot known for its minimalist yet stylish decor and creative menu. The restaurant offers a mix of classic and inventive dishes, perfect for breakfast or lunch enthusiasts. Its cozy ambiance and flavorful offerings make it a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Their red velvet pancakes are flavorful, though quite sweet. Next time, the French toast is on the list to try!

Yelp
Plain Jane's menu selection was very appealing! My husband was searching for brunch spots Saturday morning on Yelp and we quickly headed over and arrived around 11:30am. Line is first come first serve so there wasn't a waitlist. There was maybe 2-3 parties of head of us and it went by fairly quickly. Waited maybe 15 minutes and was promptly seated inside. Lovely ambience, tall ceilings with large windows and decorated fairly bright and fun. Residential street parking available. Took me 1 circle around the neighborhood and found parking a block away fairly quickly. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food we ordered was tasty: 1x New England Lobster Roll with a side of sweet potato fries (extra cost), and coleslaw 1x New England Lobster Scramble with toast 1x iced Pistachio latte (mild in flavor) 1x iced lavender latte Would be very interested in coming back to try other items, especially their fried chicken and waffles! Looked absolutely banging.

Yelp
Food is delicious with an eclectic array of food items on the menu. From your egg dishes to sandwiches, to their house favorites, I don't think you'll go wrong with what you get. I definitely will go back and try other food items. Service is good and responsive to customers requests. The restaurant ambiance is great and cozy with great mid century chandeliers.

Yelp
Highly recommend for breakfast and brunch - they have unique options, and you can't go wrong with any of them (yes - even the fried chicken and red velvet waffles). With its kind staff and casual ambiance, it's a great spot to catch up over some delicious food (then walk down 24th for a lil post-meal stroll). Recommend!!

Yelp
We loved our experience here. Food (Benedict/Scramble) came with perfectly crispy potato pieces and a generous amount of protein. The flavors were spot on, and the bread was perfectly toasted and buttered. Service was great. We were seated right away at a table of our liking.

Yelp
Fantastic space post renovation. As a single I have not had to wait even at noon on Saturday. Everything is good. The mushroom scramble stands out as does the French toast. Love this place!

Yelp
First time to have brunch at this place. Disappointed with service and the food. The service was forgivable but the taste of the food was not. I came with a big party and I was one of the first to order. I told the employee that I wanted the pancake and pointed at the picture. I also asked if I comes with anything else besides the pancake and she said no. I then asked if I can have fries on the side, she replied yes. When everyone's order were coming out only my fries were given to me and everyone else got their order. I thought maybe my order was just taking awhile. I didn't want to bother the worker. Finally I asked one of the employee if I can follow up on the pancake and she came back and said "I thought you only asked for the fries"... so I just politely asked for the pancake and I told her, remember I even pointed at the pancake. Anyways I finally got my pancake order and it was terrible. I only ate 1/3, it was grainy and the pancake breaks easily which is not pleasant to eat with a fork. It was falling apart as you try to dig in with the fork. The fries did not taste fresh. It was already hard when I got it and I was not able to eat the whole thing while waiting for my meal. I did not take the pancake home and I felt like it was such a waste of money. The only thing I enjoyed was the mango mimosa. So disappointed with the service but I could forgive that. But to receive food after waiting a long time and for it not to be good at all is sad. Such a waste of 40+ dollars... honestly.

Yelp
Short wait, seated fairly quickly. Interior was nice- has the look and feel of a classic brunch spot. Was curious to try the sweet flight, but was sadly disappointed. It was a bit overwhelming and the pancakes were a bit soggy. Just too much going on. The lavender latte was interesting, actually not bad. Other menu items looked pretty good- I would've had a better experience had I chosen something else.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, first time today and I'll be back. Best moist gluten free pancakes with real maple syrup, salty butter, perfectly buttery scrambled eggs and flavorful pork sausage just how I like it. Even came with a salad. Best restaurant breakfast I've had in years. Will come back for a scramble or omelette.

Yelp
Went here brunch on a sunday at 10:30 with a party of 4! No wait when we got there which was surprising! Ambiance- cute , modern, very clean. Had no issues with actual place itself, enough space between other costumers/ tables Food/drink- we gad the mimosa carafe which gave us 4 glasses (so if you have more than 1 mimosa for sure get the carafe. We had peach flavor which was HELLA good for no reason! I had the lobster scramble - 10/10 and oh my lord so delicious. Cheesy, buttery, and DID NOT SKIMP ON LOBSTER. Definitely worth the price. I added some pepper and salt for sure because they origionally didnt season much but SUPER DELICIOUS. Smoked Duck breast hash - 8/10, really good, duck was smoked super delicious, a little dry however. Also my boyfreind doesnt like his eggs runny and thats how they come so make sure to request otherwise if you dont like runny eggs Shrimp grits w sausage- my friend said 9/10 very good, but grits could add a little more seasoning/flavor itself I will say- serves are a bit pushy with getting you out of there and also don't let you sit unless full party is there. All i would say to improve would be staff a bit more patient especially when we are still eating , and they ask of they can start taking plates ! Otherwise great brunch spot with unusual flavors that you definitely wont find at other resturants

Yelp
Popped in here for brunch and it was delightful! Huge portions, fun offerings like Chilaquiles and lobster/crab Benedict... you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
THE WAIT None at 11am on Saturday, December 23. There was never a wait the whole time we were there (til about 2pm); probably because of the proximity to the holiday. THE COST $83.10 total including tax/tip for 2.5 brunch entrees and half a mimosa carafe. * Watermelon Mimosa Carafe ($28) - 3.5 stars Mostly prosecco with an essence of watermelon, we enjoyed it but don't get this for an artisanal drink. They did bring us a peach mimosa on accident at first, which we had already poured into our cups. They replaced the carafe, but we got a free drink out of it! * PJ's Sweet Flight ($25) - 4.5 stars Great way to taste the sweet items. The Custard French Toast is an easy 5 stars, the pancakes 4 stars. Love that it came with plenty of fruit. * Fried Chicken & Belgian Waffle ($24) - 3.5 stars Tasty chicken and waffle, but the chicken portion was pretty meager and there were two pretty out-of-place scoops of guacamole on it (flavor clash). * Coastal Benedict ($31) - 3.5 stars Lovely potatoes, eggs, & sauce. The seafood wasn't as fresh; the shrimp was quite dry, as was the crab (which was quite lumpy). My friend got the Another Club and really enjoyed it.

Yelp
Thought this was over rated. Service was not great, food was just "good", and felt more like a diner than a brunch foodie place. Patio has no heaters

Lena J.

Yelp
I had the monte cristo sandwich and it was delicious! The food came out pretty quickly after ordering. We didn't have to wait for a table because we arrived at 9am on a Sunday morning, before the brunch line had formed. I love the pretty china dishes they use-- it makes the presentation of the food even more delightful. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
The food and staff are simply unmatched. Best brunch in San Francisco? How about all of California!

Yelp
Plain Jane was so so delicious. Arrived on a long weekend Monday around 11:30am and waited for about 10 minutes for a table to be seated outside. They had plenty of heaters outside so it wasn't too chilly. I ordered the Coastal Benedict after a lot of deliberation of whether I should splurge on seafood, and it was worth every penny. My plate was loaded with Dungeness crab meat and shrimp, and the flavors meshed so well with the yolky and saucy poached egg. The potatoes were also perfect and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Big portion and delicious! Had a bite of the chive pancake as well, which I thought was unique as it's not often that there are savory pancake options. Very tasty. My friends ordered a mimosa carafe which was heavy on the champagne, which is fun if that's the type of brunch vibe you're looking for! I sipped on a red velvet latte, which was bright and vibrantly colored and tasted like liquid dessert in a cup. Great meal and great experience!
google avatar

David E.

Yelp
Plain Jane is anything but plain! Lots of brunch options, flavorful and creative food - loved the chive pancakes! I tried a Hawaiian mimosa but wasn't a fan and they kindly let me trade it out for a regular mimosa. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Korrin P.

Yelp
Quick service, good coffee, and great food choices. We didn't have to wait for our party of 4 on Saturday morning which was shocking because we typically see a line here, but lucky for us! Felt very homey and welcoming. It felt a little more expensive than other breakfast places, though.
google avatar

Michelle J.

Yelp
Was so excited when Plain Jane reopened! Went on a weekday for brunch with my coworkers. Seated in a cozy corner next to the front window. The food was delicious. My favorite being the crispy potatoes and french toast from the sweet flight.
google avatar

Tian W.

Yelp
I loved the french toast so much! It was soft, eggy, crisped on the outside, and covered in sweet fresh fruit. The bread was super thick but not too dense and chewy. The thickness of the cut really enhanced the eating experience and was by far my favorite dish of the meal. The red velvet pancakes were also good, but not as fluffy as I would have liked. I did try a bit of the cottage cheese pancakes and those were much more fluffy without losing their substance. I also tried some of the eggs benedict which were great but didn't rise to the heights of their sweet breakfast items. I appreciated how generous they were with their toppings for all our dishes. The drinks looked interesting but the pistachio latte we tried was very light and more old school with a very bubbly milk foam. Not particularly silky or warm. If I had to choose one item, I'd recommend splitting the sweet flight with a friend so you get to try all three at a more economical price. Overall, a great brunch spot to hit when in the city! I am definitely going to come back as I'm dying to try their hong kong style french toast
google avatar

Chantal G.

Yelp
Becuse of the many good reviews from yelp I decided to give Plain Jane a try for a Sunday brunch The place is very popular be prepared to wait 15 to 30 mn but its worth the wait. I had the Lobter benedict and loved it, lots of good Lobster meat in it however I didn't like the bread they used , I found the bread is too hard to cut and chewy to bite. My companions seems very happy with their orders, over all I love the place but if I had a choice I would choose different bread type for the eggs benedict !
google avatar

Meeghan H.

Yelp
Honestly, wasn't too impressed my first visit to Plain Jane's, BUT I'm so glad I gave it a second try! I personally didn't love the Chipotle Honey Fried Chicken & Red Velvet Waffle. I ordered this my first visit. The fried chicken wasn't very flavorful and the chipotle sauce didn't do much for me. Red velvet waffle was okay, but didn't like it with the chipotle chicken. The real MVP was the Jane's Plate! Two eggs, chive pancakes, bacon and crispy potatoes. 10/10!!! I'm still thinking about the chive pancakes with a dollop of Gorgonzola Mascarpone cream on top. Amazing. Bacon was crispy, scrambled eggs fluffy and potatoes solid. This restaurant doesn't take reservations, but has plenty of seating and the line moves fast. Last call on food is 1:30, so make sure your entire party is there before then! Also, only 1 bathroom (mostly likely will have a line). I'll definitely be returning for those chive pancakes.
google avatar

J H.

Yelp
Their custard French toast is a must! The staff is very friendly and keeps the hot coffee coming.

Mpunkt H.

Yelp
I had the Lorraine Flat Omelette and even though we pointed out that we want the food hot in terms of temperature the potatoes were barely lukewarm, the omelette was lukewarm. The ingredients were good but it is a very heavy dish, which is not apparent from the description, it was overall greasy and way too much cheese overloading the whole thing.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Food was good. Coastal Benedict was good with garlic shrimp. Wait staff very slow to come to the table, didn't ask about drinks. Food came slow. Food decent but way over priced.
google avatar

Kyle G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal here. I ordered an iced espresso (awesome) the french toast (pain de mi) and the lobster scramble. The lobster was perfectly cooked and tender. The eggs fluffy and well seasoned. The potatoes were the right amount of crispy. All around, excellent.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
FIRST TIMER HERE!! First & foremost: COME BEFORE NOON, it definitely gets crowded!! Came to have brunch w/ an old friend. Ordered the Coastal Benedict and it was MARVELOUS! Not to fond of the potatoes, definitely was over cooked. My nieces fruit looked very fresh, probably should have gotten that instead of potatoes. Overall, the spot is very cute and food taste great. However, I gave only 3 stars bc our waiter, for some odd reason, thought it was OK to question the tip we left her. That completely threw my morning and mood off. I GOT A TIP FOR U MISS SERVER / WAITER MA'M... I DID NOT HAVE TO TIP YOU... THE AUDACITY!

James N.

Yelp
We were looking for some brunch in the Mission and decided to stop by here around 1PM. There was surprisingly no wait so we were seated right away. The place had a very cozy and knit environment which is perfect for a brunch setting! There are a variety of brunch options that you can choose from and if you're not too hungry, I'd recommend sharing dishes since the portions can be pretty big. In our case, however, we each got a dish and ordered a drink. Red Velvet Iced Latte (4/5) - The latte tasted like your average latte you get from Starbucks. It had a very light hint of red velvet that you can barely taste. It was good but not really what we wanted. Chipotle Honey Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles (5/5) - The fried chicken and bacon was very crispy and delicious! I really liked how its flavored meshed very well with red velvet waffles. The dish also had a chipotle honey sauce on the side which was ok and honestly just stated like spicy barbecue sauce. New England Lobster Scramble (5/5) - I really liked the lobster and how fresh it was. The eggs were also so soft and melted in your mouth. Overall, the food here is great and the portion size are huge so definitely share if you don't have a big appetite!
google avatar

Jenna T.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday at 10AM for a party of 3 and didn't have to wait for a table. When we left around 1130AM, the wait was piling out the door. Great place with good food and portions. Prices range from $25-$35 per dish. 2 meals and one mimosa came out to $90! It's definitely not a cheap eats. But their lobster scramble wasn't skimpy on the meat and they followed instructions on getting my potatoes extra crispy. They also offer great flavors for their mimosas! It's definitely worth a try. But because of their heavy price tag, it's not a place you can regular.
google avatar

Alice S.

Yelp
Get here early to avoid the weekend brunch lines! The food is definitely worth the wait though. My biggest struggle with brunch food is debating whether to go sweet or savory, so my partner and I ended up ordering both. We shared the red velvet pancakes and the sausage and shrimp grits. The pancakes were tasty. But wow the sausage and shrimp grits were amazing! I would for sure come back just for more of the sausage and shrimp grits.
google avatar

Dipali S.

Yelp
I started with the latte which was the perfect pistachio to coffee ratio. All their sweet breakfast options looked delicious so we ordered the PJ's flight to try a little of everything with a side of potatoes (for that savory tooth) and it was the best combination! The best part was that a quality brunch spot like this in SF had absolutely NO wait and we were seated immediately with friendly service. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time as well and that made the experience all the more memorable! I can't wait to go back with more friends!
google avatar

Hallie G.

Yelp
Plain Jane is definitely NOT plain! If you're in the Mission, this is definitely a good spot for brunch. Went on a girl's trip and saw the reviews for this place on Yelp and just had to try it out. My friend got the PJ's Sweet Flight - an assortment of all of their sweet breakfast options: red velvet pancake, cottage pancake, and custard French toast. Presentation was so beautiful! I tend to favor more savory breakfasts but even I admit this was pretty good. My friend LOVED it! My other friend and I decided to share the chicken and red velvet waffles. This dish was served with chipotle honey sauce, maple syrup, and guacamole. It even came with bacon! The chicken was crispy and tasted like your standard fried chicken. The star of the show was definitely the red velvet pancakes. I've never had waffles like that before! They were cooked really well and had the perfect amount of sweetness. Super yummy. Service was great! My friends even said they would want to come here again if we're ever in SF!

Yelp
Let me start with the service - it was mu hudband and me - waited atleast 10 mins before a server came to our table - we then placed our orders - we ordered two coffee huevos rancheros and mushroom scramble. then nothing for another 15 mins - i asked if they had low fat or non fat and he said no so i said regular milk is fine he was so abrupt and rude the he said how i wanted eggs fried or scramble were the only choices so i chose medium fried - my husband and i did not want cheese so we asked to remove it - my husband asked if his dish came with bread so he chose wheat- i asked if my dish came with bread politely and the server just yelled at me NO and that i should not confuse him and made a big huffing sound and walked away - he was very rude - I already had decided i would not leave a tip - if we had bot already invested 20 mins by now I would have walked out - in the meantime a couple came and sat next to our table and they immediately got their coffee- we then asked a passing by server that we had not received our coffee but the table next to us who came after got theirs - she goes to our server and he looks up the menu to confirm we had ordered the coffee and then i see him enter it in the register and we get our coffee now lets talk about the food - coffees were lukewarm warm but the refills were hot and timely - our dishes arrived both the huevos and scrambled were like warm cold - huevos i want medium they were over done - we wate our food a d i barely finished my dish and the server came and took my plate he didn't even ask if he could clear my plate - the whole time we were eating he didn't come and checkin on us once but the moment i fished my dish he was helicoptering our table - my husband was still eating- same thing as soon as he put his fork down the server came and cleared his plate didn't even ask if my husband dine eating the finale - we ask for our bill and we get our bill and because the service and food was so bad i didn't leave a tip - the server comes back with my receipt why i didn't leave a tip - i said i didn't think the service deserved a tip and said i am not giving a tip for poor service- then we left Ambiance- was ok we had been to Plain Jane 4 or 5 times - but now we are not going back

Need to go back to try the red velvet pancakes!! Bacon was perfectly crispy and cute place good service

Yelp
Sunday brunch on a hot day - there was definitely a line, but thankfully moved fast as they seated 2-tops. All together only had to wait about 15 mins. I'd recommend sitting outside since inside has no AC and was definitely hotter than outside and water was warm/but you can ask for a cup of ice. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes - I got the club and was surprised at how big it was - I'd say sweet potato fries are the right choice. We also got a guava mimosa carafe but it tasted like orange ...and was orange? All good, would come again!

Yelp
I came with as a party of 4 and got seated pretty quickly on the July 4th weekend. It was a little confusing though because they had a lot of open tables but still made us wait 10 min to get seated? The service is probably the part that bothered me the most and hence a two star deduction bc the food itself isn't great enough to compensate. I ordered the monte cristo and had high hopes but sadly was met with some disappointment. It just seemed to lack an oomf and the berry jam was a little too thick for my liking. I also realized they never asked me if I wanted potatoes or salad which is a ding on them too. Luckily I liked their potatoes. The tenders were decent and crispy but the fries fell a little flat - and also a little too soggy. Other people in my party got an omelet and Benedict but nothing so good to write home about. Overall, glad I tried another brunch place but probably won't be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Super excited to try this place after stumbling upon their Instagram page but unfortunately, it was a bit of disappointment. We came at 10am on a Monday and it wasn't busy so we got seated immediately. Our server took our order pretty quickly but it took over 30 minutes for our food to come. We ordered the Classic Benedict and Chipotle Honey Fried Chicken & Belgian Waffle. The Benedict was just ok, it lacked flavor and my egg didn't turn out runny like I asked. The potatoes wasn't too bad, some pieces were crunchy. The Chicken & Waffle was extremely dry and the waffle wasn't fluffy or soft. It tasted like old waffles ): the ube latte was good tho! my fave YUM! just wish it was a little hotter lol Service was quick in the beginning but eventually felt ignored after multiple attempts at following up on our order and getting the check. Overall, think this place is overhyped. Don't think I'd be back ):

Yelp
Great brunch spot with all the classics, service could do better. We called in advance to check on the wait times and by 12 PM apparently the line had just cleared up. We came in around 1:20 and they informed us we had 10 mins to order and handed us the menus. They seemed to be in quite a rush and were sort of rude in managing the people waiting to be seated. We ended up getting seated outside on the tiny tables along the sidewalk around the corner. There was live music across the street which I usually enjoy but it seemed a little too loud and discordant - do not recommend sitting here if this is a hangover brunch. Food was great. Very generous portions I'd even suggest sharing if you don't want leftovers. The lobster roll however I'd pass on the next time - I've had better and this one was mayo/egg salad flavor heavy. Parking is scarce and your best bet is turning into the adjacent residential streets with 2 hour parking.

Yelp
Delicious brunch spot! Their brunch food is not only delicious, they also make unique combinations. The coastal Benedict was flavorful and the potatoes were crispy on the outside with a soft chew on the inside. I love eggs Benedict's and I'd definitely come back just for this! The fried chicken and waffles were also tasty. The PJ's sweet flight with red velvet pancakes with white chocolate, cottage pancakes with chocolate and sour cream, and custard French toast were all combinations I never tried before yet the flavors worked together so wonderfully and addicting.

Yelp
Visited Plain Jane on a girls' trip to SF and I am SO happy that my friend made this suggestion. I had never even thought of red velvet pancakes before-- but they're here and they're amazing! I ended up getting the breakfast that came with three different things (I think Red Velvet, Cottage Cheese Pancakes, and French Toast?) and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I would recommend the Red Velvet Pancakes over the other two. French Toast is good but suuuuper sweet in the middle. The Cottage Cheese Pancakes were pancakes with Chocolate (I think chocolate-- my memory is so bad I'm sorry) and cottage cheese on top. Although unique, I couldn't get my taste buds to enjoy the fluffy pancake with the cottage cheese. But it was still good! I don't remember much of what my friends got but I don't think the Red Velvet Latte was something they'd get again. When I visit SF again, I will definitely be back! :)
