The 36 Best Restaurants in Lisbon, Portugal | Eater

"Located in a 19th-century building that is now a hotel in the Graça neighborhood, Plano is a two-in-one restaurant. On most days, guests eat indoors in a charming, airy dining room with minimalist decor. But on hot summer nights, chef Vitor Adão sets up his kitchen in the intimate garden around the pool where, with the help of a charcoal grill beneath the orange trees, he cooks over open fire as if he were in the countryside. The six- to nine-course tasting menu changes frequently, highlighting the best local produce from each season." - Rafael Tonon

Plano

"Trás-os-Montes-born chef Vítor Adão’s roots are strongly anchored in tradition and the provenance of his ingredients. Having worked in several leading restaurants, he decided to open his own eatery where he showcases the heritage of his native region. His cooking is based around two surprise tasting menus (6 and 9 courses) that vary according to what is available from producers. Despite its simple decoration, enhanced by numerous jars of pickles to highlight the connection with the land, the overall feel here is elegant. The pleasant terrace is perfect for outdoor dining in warmer weather." - Michelin Inspector

We had an exceptional dining experience at Plano in Lisbon. The atmosphere was warm, elegant, and beautifully designed, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. The entire team was incredibly polite and attentive, making us feel truly welcomed from the moment we arrived. A special mention goes to the sommelier, who was extremely knowledgeable and guided us wonderfully throughout the wine experience. Each dish came with a story, inspired by the chef’s personal journey through different regions of Portugal, highlighting his roots and passion for local tradition and flavors. This thoughtful storytelling elevated the entire tasting menu into a cultural and emotional experience, not just a meal. My husband had mentioned that it was my birthday, and the staff surprised me with a candle on the final dessert, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. It made the evening even more special. We left feeling grateful and impressed. Plano is not just a restaurant — it is a culinary journey, beautifully executed with heart, creativity, and true hospitality. Highly recommended!

One of the best fine-dining experiences I’ve ever had. We enjoyed a seven-course menu, and with each dish the waiter thoughtfully explained its connection to their culture. I’m usually not a fan of fish, but their cod dish and cabbage dish was on another level the texture, flavour, and presentation were all topnotch. Every course was executed beautifully, and the ambience was warm and cosy. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for an elegant and memorable evening out.

We booked lunch at Plano on a Saturday in July. I had expected to be seated outside, but that was my mistake for not checking properly. That said, we were in for a surprise — we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. It felt truly special, like a private dining experience with the full team and kitchen just for the two of us. The food was incredible. I honestly don’t have enough words to describe the amount of thought, work, and emotion that went into each dish. It’s one of the rare times in my life I truly felt the storytelling of a chef through food. You could sense the heart and soul behind every flavor, every technique, every choice of ingredient. Even the plates weren’t just plates — they were handmade ceramics shaped like the mountains of the chef’s region. I’ve never seen anything like that. The service was, of course, perfect. Attentive, warm, and discreet. And while value is personal, in my opinion, what you get here is far beyond what you pay. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience. We’ll definitely be back — next time in the garden, for dinner. If you want to sit outside, make sure to book for the evening

Best food, Beat Ambiente. All of it. Just an amazing experience. I can't believe they don't have three Michelin stars. My regards to the chef, and all of the team.

Some of the best food I’ve had in ages, and that’s without mentioning the overall experience! The tasting menu here was exquisite and the staff at the restaurant were very knowledgeable on all the dishes and made us feel very welcome! This is a MUST visit in Lisbon for those into their food!

This dinner was the best meal of our whole trip. The 9 courses were way more than enough food so if you want to the 6 courses would have been the perfect amount of food. We chose to have a bottle of wine with our meal instead of going with the wine pairing but I do think that would have been a nice addition to the smaller 6 course tasting menu to make the perfect experience. The service was impeccable and it was a very quiet intimate dining room. The atmosphere was stunning with low lighting and small table lamps. The walls lined with pickled foods were a beautiful backdrop while tasting them all throughout out the meal. Whenever our glasses were getting lower they would fill them right away. It was a seamless reservation process with even the option to easily cancel and reschedule when our plans changed during the day. However if you have plans for after just know the 9 courses will take about 2.5 hours. Each course was stunningly presented and tasted amazing. The flavours and textures and smells balanced each other beautifully. It was so cool when they brought out a hot towel with aromatics on it for our hands. It was such a nice touch that wasn’t necessary but was so perfect.

📍You need to visit this place✨ It was an amazing surprise, this restaurant made our visit to Lisbon extremely memorable. The restaurant decore is minimalistic, with attention to the details. The food was superb. A culinary experience from all over the country, starting from the mountains on the North up to the South. An explosion of flavor explained by a lovely waitress, which was knowledgeable about the whole menu. Additionally, they were super attentive to the few notes that we left under the reservation, which we highly appreciate. Finally, we chose the €95 set menu, which included 9 courses. Trust me when I say that once we left we were stuffed. Absolutely recommended 🥹🙏🏼

Wonderful dining experience at Plano. My fiancé and I opted for the 6 course experience, with 1 wine pairing. The wine pairing is optional, you can choose wine by the glass or cocktails. The service was outstanding, so friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the food and wine, I enjoyed the introduction of each course and accompanying wine. The atmosphere is classy and intimate, we sat in the rear vault room, which was cozy. On to the food, each course was so fresh and beautifully prepared, the portions were a nice size, and the flavors and textures of each dish were well balanced and delicious. If you do not have any dietary restrictions, then you will receive a nice mix of seafoods and meats, and the restaurant caters to restrictions, if needed. I highly recommend Plano for a special evening for residents and visitors alike.
